Я люблю старые игры сьерры и лукас артс и было очень приятно пройти эту.

Понравилось - необычный сеттинг Индонезии, логичные головоломки, простой, но интересный сюжет. Вместе с персонажем игроку предлагают подумать о том, что важно в жизни - много денег или отношения с людьми и природой.

Анимации довольно нелепые, но в минималистичный графон имеет вид. Вырубленный лес на контрасте с зелеными джунглями выглядел очень драматично, более детально прорисованные катсцены было интересно разглядывать.

Самый большой минус - звуки и саундтрек. Музыка не очень подходит и играет невпопад, палитру звуков в целом хотелось бы богаче.

В общем и целом это классный квест от инди разработчиков, на пару вечеров! Стоит заценить!

Классический квест без каких-либо откровений, но зато с адекватной логикой и, как ни странно, большим количеством анимаций взаимодействия. Раздражало во-первых, что нет быстрого перемещения между локациями и я был вынужден каждый раз смотреть как ГГ ходит от одного края деревни до другого, и особенно это бесило во время выполнения заданий вокруг этой самой деревни. Во-вторых, нет поддержки русского языка, но я купил потому, что повёлся на положительный отзыв, где сказано, что достаточно будет базовых знаний инглиша. И вот ещё одно доказательство того, что большая часть людей в интернетах это шизы. Для понимания может, и будет достаточно базы, и то, дико сомневаюсь, но текста в игре настолько много, и чем дальше, тем больше, что я очень быстро устал от него и под конец просто по большей части прокликивал. Здесь и слишком много пустого трёпа и слишком много текста для poin'n'click адвенчуры в принципе. Перевод таких объемов это труд, а я в игры не работать прихожу.
Что касаемо сюжета, меня просто не зацепило. Но если объективно, то он есть, и не плохой, не считая притянутого за уши хэппи-энда с моментом на ТВ-шоу.

Davor waren es Grafikadventure mit Cursorsteuerung und Befehlseingabe.

Sehr oft fühlte ich mich an die LEISURE SUIT Larry 1-4 Teile zurück erinnert.
Die Animationen, der Grafikstyle, die Soundkulisse.

Vermutlich hätten die beiden Herren (JA! Es sind nur 2 Entwickler) auch zu Lucas Arts Style greifen können, aber das verbindet man dann als erfahrener Point´n´Klicker doch eher mit Humor.
Und dieses Spiel ist ernst.

Das ist keine Arbeit, kein Stress - das ist Spielspaß und weckt Entdeckerfreude.
Viele moderne Adventure (Deponia und Co) haben es hier einfach übertrieben.

Dazu das übersichtliche, aber gut genug gefüllte Inventar.
Und gegen Ende noch kurz die Möglichkeit zwischen 2 Charakteren hin und her zu wechseln.

Apropro Monkey Island 1 - das gesamte Spiel ist in etwa so groß und umfangreich und lang wie der erste Akt aus dem Kultspiel von Lucas Arts.

Developer non responsive and has not fixed a known problem that causes the game to crash half way through that they have been aware of for five years. There is no auto save so if you do decide to buy this game be sure to save frequently. i did not find it fun enough to play a second time to recover the game. It was alright but felt like a PSA for deforestation which I agree is a problem but I'm not sure it makes for a fun game story line.

I'm incredibly glad I played this game, especially since I almost didn't. The setting didn't grab me the way other Cloak and Dagger games have done, but I knew the developer's exceptional track record, so I gave it a shot... and thank goodness I did.

The themes in Sumatra are universal, the characters easily loved, and the story captivating. In those regards, the setting really didn't matter. In other ways, it did, and in the right ways. Without giving up too much, the gradually disappearing forests of Indonesia are a brilliant backdrop to this moving tale and its violently-expanding stakes. I hate to sound like a broken record in these Cloak and Dagger reviews, but the sense of place and the story-pacing in Sumatra are grand, and the signature close-up animations are impactful as always.

This game takes us out of the typical environs of point-and-click adventures, not only in terms of the landscapes and culture, but also in the backgrounds of the characters. It is a different paradigm from what gaming tends to offer, and is executed with intrigue, class, and heart. I am utterly grateful to live in a time when tiny teams of enthusiasts can bring visions like this to life.

This is a very well made adventure, with a refreshingly atypical story. I enjoyed the setting, it's amazing how atmospheric a pixel-art game can be.

Having just finished it, I am left wondering if the last bit of the game is meant to be a sort of dream sequence. I like that it is left ambiguous.

I've been impressed by every game by Cloak & Dagger I've played so far, I get the sense that they've played a lot of adventure games and take time to really think about the player experience. Well done.

"Sumatra: Fate of Yandi" ist eines von vielen Adventure Spielen in Pixelart. In der Handhabung gibt es dem entsprechend wenig Überraschungen. Mit Gegenständen wird interagiert oder sie werden betrachtet. Angenehm ist dabei, dass das Spiel sich in recht kleine Handlungseinheiten unterteilt, Das verzweifeln an Rätseln ist von daher schwierig, da die Interaktionsmöglichkeiten von Beginn an eingeschränkt sind. Das macht das Spiel angenehm zu spielen, da ein stetiges vorankommen stets gewährleistet ist. Die Rätsel sind dabei auch stets eindeutig, ohne einen fragend damit zurückzulassen, was den nun gerade zu tun ist. Die Graphik des Spiels ist wirkt zwar selbst für Pixelart Spiele ein wenig klobig für heutige Zeit, aber wem Pixelart zusagt wird sich davon kaum abgestoßen fühlen.
Ohnehin ist es kein hinsichtlich der Spielmechanik Programmiert wurde. Im Kern des Spiels steht vor allem die Geschichte von Yandi einem Holzfäller auf Sumatra, da bei einem Unfall in den Urwald geschwemmt wurde. Von dort muss er sich seinen Weg zurück in die Zivilisation bahnen und dabei einen Umweltskandal aufdeckt. Unverkennbar beinhaltet das Spiel deutliche Botschaften zur Abforstung des indonesischen Regenwalds. Diese Botschaften treten gelegentlich zwar sehr deutlich hervor, doch sie fest in den Inhalten des Spiels verankert, so dass nicht der Eindruck von der Zwanghaftigkeit einer Botschaft entsteht. Darüber hinaus ist das Setting des Spiels vergleichsweise ungewöhnlich, was es zu einer angenehmen Abwechselung macht und sich vergleichsweise deutlich unterscheidet von anderen Adventure Spielen.
Von der Spieldauer ist es eher kurz gehalten, was ein Durchspielen an einem einzelnen Tag ermöglicht und sich deswegen auch empfiehlt. Wie die meisten Geschichten wirkt auch diese in einem Stück erzählt sicherlich am besten.
Zusammenfassend lässt sich sagen, dass "Sumatra: Fate of Yandi" ein kurzweiliges und gelungenes Adventure ist in einem sich angenehm unterscheidenden Setting. Es eignet sich bestens zu Spielen, wenn einem nach ein Adventure Spiel ist ohne es gleich über mehrere Tage spielen zu müssen.

It's a descent story with a descent gameplay. I wouldn't say it's good but I certainly wouldn't say it was bad, so that's why I'm recommending it. Besides, considering the characteristics and the subject of the story, one has to be a douche bag to not recommend this game. Just know that it's not dramatic and shocking.
I played The Excavation of Hob's Barrow before this so I experienced a minor inconvenience but it wasn't something one couldn't adjust to. And as I have said what I'm about to say on that game's review, I must tell you that on here as well. Do not play this game by yourself. Play it with a walkthrough. There's a descent one on Steam's page. That'll do it. Otherwise you would be constantly facing unreasonable gameplay design.

A very good classic point & click game. Short but fun. It has a pretty original setting, the story is also okay, except the ending is pretty abrupt. Most importantly, the difficulty is balanced almost perfectly. The game isn't trivial, but it's never so frustrating as to force me to look at the walkthrough.

As an achievement hunter, however, I have to complain about a couple of achievements that are based on a minigame with a completely random outcome. Whoever thought this was a fun idea... was wrong.

Fantastic point and click! Not as tough as the old Lucas Arts games but has a great story and is tons of fun.
I really like everything I've played from Cloak and Dagger Games.

I wish I could give this a "Meh" score instead. I decided to check this entry out after playing Legend of Hand - which I loved!

Yet... this adventure felt incomplete and lamer. During moments of despair or suspense, the game failed to deliver. There was a lack of memorable characters, events and places. The ending was too sudden and felt rushed.

Dem Spiel “Sumatra: Fate of Yandi” soll nicht das gleiche Schicksal ereilen, wie dem Männerduft.

“Sumatra: Fate of Yandi” ist ein klassisches Point & Click Adventure Spiel des Entwicklers “Cloak and Dagger Games” aus dem Jahr 2019. Bisher ist das Spiel an mir vorbeigegangen. Leider! Um mein Fazit voranzustellen: Diesem Spiel sollte mehr Aufmerksamkeit gewidmet werden!

Laut Google-Recherche und Wikipedia konnte ich folgende nützliche Informationen zu Sumatra zusammentragen:

Sumatra, eine große indonesische Insel im Westen von Java und südlich der Malaiischen Halbinsel, ist für sein zerklüftetes tropisches Terrain, seine Wildtiere und rauchenden Vulkane bekannt. (Google-Treffer nach Suchbegriff “Sumatra”)

Die Reste der überwältigenden Regenwälder Sumatras sind in der ganzen Welt berühmt, da sie einige der gefährdetsten und seltensten Arten auf der Erde beherbergen. Sie werden u. a. bewohnt vom Nashornvogel (Buceros spp., indon. enggang), Großaugenfasan (Argus-Fasane, indon. burung kuau / kuang), Sumatra-Elefanten (indon. gajah) und 8 verschiedenen Primatenarten. Yandi und sein bester Freund Ramdan arbeiten bei einem Abholzungsunternehmen. Es hat mal wieder tagelang geregnet, doch deren unangenehmer neuer Chef schickt sie zu einem gefährlichen Holzfällerjob. Yandi und Ramdan sollen mit schwerem Gerät auf einem, durch die starken Regenfälle, völlig durchweichten Hang arbeiten. Es kommt, wie es kommen muss, die beiden stürzen buchstäblich ins Unglück. Der Hang rutscht bis in den Fluss ab und die Strömung befördert die beiden kilometerweit weg.

Nun muss Yandi im Regenwald zurechtkommen und überleben. Sein oberstes Ziel ist es wieder nach Hause zu seiner geliebten Frau zurückzukommen. Da ahnt Yandi noch nicht, dass er bei seinem unfreiwilligen Abenteuer noch viel Größeres aufdecken wird.

Die Story hat enormen Tiefgang und erinnerte mich von seiner Botschaft her an den Film “Avatar”. Indigene Völker leben im Einklang mit ihrer Umwelt, gehen mit der Welt und der Natur respektvoll um und sind eng mit ihr verbunden. Die Harmonie besteht so lange, bis mächtige Konzerne anrücken und zur maximalen Profitsteigerung die Natur – koste es was es wollte – ohne Rücksicht vollkommen ausbeuten. Plünderung von Rohstoffen und Abholzung. Zurück bleibt eine zerstörte Natur. Mensch und Tier leiden darunter. Daher ist das Spiel nochmal ein dringender und wichtiger Appell verantwortungsvoll und nachhaltig mit unserer Welt umzugehen.

[b] Grafik und Ton: [/b]
Eine schöne Pixelgrafik, die gut zum Genre “Point & Click Adventure” passt. Mich hat der Artstyle abgeholt und visuell angenehm stimuliert.

Die musikalischen Klänge und auch die Geräuschkulisse sind gut gemacht. Eine Sprachausgabe gibt es nicht. Ich habe bei diesem Spiel auch keine Sprachausgabe vermisst. Dafür gibt es aber zum Glück eine deutsche Übersetzung der Texte.

Man bekommt insgesamt einen wunderbaren Retro-Charme.

[b] Spielmechanik und Rätseldesigne: [/b]
Die Steuerung erfolgt genretypisch über die Maus. Komfortfunktionen wie eine Hotspotanzeige oder eine integrierte Hilfe gibt es nicht. Beides habe ich aber auch zu keiner Zeit vermisst. Das Rätseldesigne ist meines Erachtens sehr gut gelungen und gut in das ganze Setting implementiert. Hinweise gibt es im Spiel selbst immer ausreichen, z.B. durch entsprechende Dialoge mit den NPCs.

[b] Spielumfang und Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis: [/b]
Ein eher kurzes Spiel vom zeitlichen Umfang. In dieser Zeit ist allerdings einiges an Inhalt, Geschichte und Massage geboten und auch die Charaktere erhalten überraschend viel Tiefe und Glaubwürdigkeit. Zum regulären Preis von 6,89 € kann ich nur eine wärmste Kaufempfehlung aussprechen.

[b] Fazit: [/b]
Diesem Spiel sollte mehr Aufmerksamkeit gewidmet werden! “Cloak and Dagger Games” hat hier eine kleine Adventure-Perle kreiert. Seit längerem mal wieder ein Spiel, was mich im positivsten Sinne völlig überrascht hat.

Another great game from Cloak and Dagger! I originally fell in love with The Excavation of Hob's Barrow and decided to try some of their older games, I was not disappointed! I now own all but 1 and couldn't praise them any higher.

From the beautifully illustrated characters and landscapes (which can be even trickier to capture when it comes to pixel games) to the sweet, funny and at times sombre dialogue of the characters, I think the team really portrayed the jungle and the importance of nature really well through a gripping story. They did a good job of making you passionate about the characters, and making the puzzles challenging but not frustrating.

This game would be great for a beginner at point and click puzzle games but still a fun play for experienced puzzle solvers thanks to all the other positives listed. Another thing I liked about this game which Cloak and Dagger always do well at choosing/creating is a really cool set of music tracks that bring the whole game together.

I bought this on sale for around £3 but honestly so much work goes into their games, they are well worth full price. Because I got such a bargain, after completing the game I decided buy the DLC to support them further and am looking forward to the bonus game included.

P.S. this is my first steam review so I hope it's helpful, but if a company has impressed me so much with a game they've convinced me to start doing reviews, that must be a positive! Can't wait to see what the next game is.

A very good point & click adventure game experience that references classic genre titles without slavishly copying them. Leaps and bounds more sophisticated than the developers' earlier projects and you can see how some of the ideas would feed in to their later The Excavation of Hob's Barrow.

Muy buena aventura gráfica con una historia de supervivencia no habitual en el género además de una locación tampoco frecuente. Los puzzles siguen una lógica y no hay ninguno extraño. La navegación por la jungla en la parte central del juego está bien lograda también y no genera el efecto de "donde estaba tal elemento?" que podría confundir.
La historia es muy atrapante si bien el final es un tanto "exagerado" por decirlo de alguna manera.

Nettes, recht einfaches PnC Adventure mit sehr eigenem Retrolook. Die Geschichte bezieht sich auf ein recht aktuelles Thema, ist jetzt nicht allzu originell, dafür aber auch nicht schon tausendmal gesehen, erlebt und gespielt.
Wer Adventures mag wird hier nicht viel falsch machen. "Sumatra - Fate of Yandi" ist zwar jetzt kein absoluter Überhit, aber grundsolide und eigentlich auch empfehlenswert.

[b]"Sumatra: Fate of Yandi" makes good use of classic point n' click adventures' formula with nicely designed puzzles, lots of items' combinations and an intriguing story. Its lovely world has a genuine local atmosphere, the design avoids pixel hunting, dialogues are decent, controls are responsive and Yandi is an adorable protagonist. Yet, the last part of the game gets too easy with only few scattered puzzles while the story escalates too fast. Secondary characters could be less generic too. Nevertheless, it's an amazing adventure that offers a relaxing experience inside Indonesia's jungles.

The good
- Cute pixel graphics with nice colors. They could have been a little bit more detailed though.
- Well designed world with genuine local atmosphere inside the majestic jungle forests. You feel like you're transferred to Indonesia.
- Good puzzles that make sense. It uses nicely various tools that you find and lets you cleverly combine items inside the inventory. Classical point n' click structure.
- Yandi's survival adventure is a cool story. All these flashbacks give you extra info about his life before the incident. Gradually it gets even more interesting with twists and revelation of intrigues and dark plans.
- Simplistic, but pretty well written dialogues. You won't get bored of reading.
- Yandi is an adorable protagonist. Secondary characters are shallower though.
- Smooth, fast controls. You feel it light and responsive unlike many clunky point n' click adventures,
- Cute, minimalistic animations.
- Everything is clear and you can easily spot the interactive objects inside each screen. There is no pixel hunting or distinguish objects.
- It gets political opening up some serious topics about working conditions, ecological crimes, destruction of forests and how this affects the lives of local people and fauna.
- Wandering in the forest is so relaxing.

The bad
- During the last part of the game puzzles are few, scattered and get too easy. Also the story escalates quickly and ending is a little bit abrupt.
- Secondary characters are flat and generic. Also, It's difficult to love them without seeing their expressions. Death of some of them doesn't mean much.
- Empty audio design. There are only few scattered sounds here and there while some screens are completely silent.
- I would like more interactions and comments on things per screen. This would make its world more alive and immersive. There are screens with no interactions at all.

Apprezzo molto C&D come sviluppatore, nei suoi giochi precedenti ha sempre offerto ottime idee e uno sviluppo della storia interessante.

Sumatra è una buona avventura ma quella che mi è piaciuta meno di C&D. L'originalità si trova soprattutto nell'ambientazione della giungla, è molto apprezzabile anche il suo messaggio ecologista, ma oltre a questo è un'avventura molto molto molto classica.

Ci sono tipici enigmi da inventario, raccolta di oggetti da usare altrove con altri oggetti, codici numerici da trovare o dedurre. Quel che c'è è fatto dignitosamente ma non mi ha terribilmente esaltato.

Anche a livello di trama, tutto ok ma niente di che. La scrittura dei personaggi l'ho trovata piatta e il protagonista è lo scenario, che ci può anche stare.

Giocato su Steam Deck, funziona liscio.

Sumatra Fate of Yandi peut être simplement vu comme un énième point'n click retro ou bien comme un récit moderne fort capable de sensibiliser à plusieurs enjeux de son époque, ici en lien avec la déforestation touchant de plein fouet l'Indonésie.
Il m'a fallu un peu de temps avant d'y voir clair, mais c'est finalement dans cette seconde catégorie, rare et précieuse, que je classerais ce beau titre de Cloak and Dagger Games. Merci à cette équipe.

Ce n'est donc pas un fringuant reporter à houpette blonde que nous allons incarner mais un jeune travailleur de pays pauvre d'Asie du Sud-Est qui vivra un sacré périple.
Une aventure courte et assez classique dans l'ensemble, qui ne m'a pas transporté par sa réalisation mais plutôt bien rythmée, dotée d'énigmes aussi bien abordables que logiques et d'un ton léger et bienveillant qui la rendra accessible à un public familial.
Et pourtant le propos est sérieux et certains sujets graves. Sans rentrer dans les détails mais comme évoqué plus haut, cela tournera autour du secteur de l'exploitation forestière pour laquelle travaille notre candide héros et dont il découvrira progressivement les cruelles réalités... vivant au passage une révolution existentielle et une aventure humaine teintée d'humour, d'amour avec un brin de fantaisie et bonne dose d'humanisme.

Clairement pas un titre qui roule des mécaniques mais une belle oeuvre et une démarche qui vise juste que je recommande au plus grand nombre, notamment aux jeunes.

A fairly short (it took me 6 hours) point-and-click game with a very 90s feel to the artwork and music. The story was engrossing, though a little preachy now and then. I agreed with it 100%, but let's just say the moral of the story wasn't subtle. Despite that, I couldn't stop playing until I reached the end.

I always have trouble with some of the puzzles in these types of games, but fortunately someone was kind enough to put up a walkthrough in the Guides section.

Sweet and charming, Cloak and Dagger Games' next adventure after the delightfully eerie and weird [i]Football Game[/i] definitely delivers. Charming writing, beautifully stylized cutscenes, a likeable cast of characters and satisfyingly common-sensical puzzles that are sprinkled throughout the thrilling adventure of the titular Yandi ends up making up for some other underwhelming elements such as the slightly less than stellar ending, some questinable UI elements, a couple puzzles that might feel like they were designed to pad up the playing time and one particularly nasty technical issue. Nevertheless, if you just don't try to mess with the resolution settings and therefore don't lose your progress because of a crash since there isn't any auto-save mechanic as far as I'm concerned, you ought to enjoy your -perhaps a bit short- time with the game, especially towards the latter end of it since once it picks up the pace, it reaches its' very best. I 100% recommend it and -a hundred and ten percent if you've already played and loved [i]Football Game[/i] as I did- currrently can't wait to get into the rest of the C&D's works as they are surely shaping up to be one of my favorite indie developers as of recent times. You guys rock!

Sumatra is pretty much a point and click film, about 3 hours long but packs in a few threads that make it pretty good. A conflicted character just trying to get by with his bestie, wilderness survival and shenanigans are just some of the threads throughout your playthrough.

Art style is retro, but clean enough that you can get a feel for the different characters and the environment without everything becoming a mess of pixels.

Well worth picking up if you want a night or two's entertainment.

Small short adventure point and click from a dev showing quite the promise, Cloak and Dagger are def getting somewhere and if you´re a fan of the genre you should be on the look out for their next projects, specially now that their last game was published by Wadjet Eye Games, whom have being cattering to the nitch point and click old school market for a decade now.

Achievements seems to be bugged though and won´t appear on your profile for some reason, seems like they work for some people, they don´t for others like me. But apparently has to do with writting a review so... I TRICK YOU TO READ THIS ONE TO GET MY CHEEVOS HAHAHAHA master of deception!

OK point and click. Short but still longer than needed as many scenes could be shaved with no loss for the story. In some many ways the originals Pendek (kinda of a prototype for this game) feels a lot more interesting and concise. Not that it is bad actually. It has its charm.

It may be a good short fun if you get it at a big discount.

Good story, puzzles are on the easy side but not too easy. Early-sierra style retro graphics, like space quest 2 except you're on earth, not an alien planet. Roam around the jungle figuring out what to place where. Nice retro style game. The mini-game for the last two achievements is just rock-paper-scissors.

TL;DR - I found this to be an interesting (and educational) adventure game, that provided more twists and turns than I expected.
I'd been looking forward to playing this game ever since I saw the first trailer, as I'm a sucker for games with a 90's-style pixelart animated aesthetic.
Story-wise, I found this to be interesting and quite dramatic. I also think it does a good job of giving you lots of useful, cultural information, in a not too preachy way. I was particularly impressed at how it conveyed scenes of environmental impacts due to man-made practices - quite effective. It's actually inspired me to try to incorporate important topics in my future game developments.
I'd say the length and complexity of the adventure game is just about perfect (for me). I didn't rush it, instead just enjoye where it was going and went with it.
The various storytelling techniques used are quite effective also. Lots of flashbacks, as well as animations and transitions. All helped move the story forward quite well I thought.
Anyway, I'd recommend it - was a nice adventure.

(P.S. - For transparency, I was lucky to win a key this game as part of a promotion for the 'Look, Pick Up & Use - Volume 1' bundle - but as I say, it was already in my Wish List)

这款游戏讲述了一个名叫Yandi的伐木工人再一次山体滑坡后偶入丛林深处，包含了友谊、爱、冒险、环保和忧伤的故事。藉由台词、场景中的细节和恰到好处的回忆动画，基本每个角色都塑造得很好。并不直接告诉玩家一个人是什么样的，而是通过他们自己来表现出来，甚至配角们也都有自己的生活和自己的故事，[spoiler]比如下棋输了还想再战的Iko和既向往外面又无法割舍家乡的Kevin[/spoiler]；也有许多不知是否有关联或许是留给玩家自己揣摩的小细节，[spoiler]比如那个“很多年前就有”的人偶是不是那个生物做的、开头报纸上的腐败新闻和那个生日账单有无关联[/spoiler]。

谜题设置的角度而言，设计简约但巧妙，而且符合角色自身的特质，不会出现谜题逻辑太跳脱和让人十分摸不着头脑的情况，但也需要一定的思考和琢磨。谜题解答既不ooc也不上帝视角，一切随着故事的进程而前进，能做到让玩家和角色一同体会故事，还能通过所获得的道具和提示做到让玩家不由自主地对接下来要遇到的事件感到好奇，这很难能可贵。

从画面而言，我作为一个像素画风爱好者感到很惊喜。明明只是像素画，但是很多地方都很生动地用小动画表现了角色的状况，比如说爬墙爬不上去跳下来的时候、被花的气味熏到时、[spoiler]被奇奇怪怪的要求吓得退了半步时[/spoiler]。场景的许多细节的处理我也都非常喜欢，与音效配合得很好，确实有一种身在丛林中探索的感觉。我个人尤其喜欢那些在雨中的场景和可以望到远处被夷平的树林的场景，前者可以确确实实地体会到热带丛林中那种带着水气的神秘，后者则是一种面对破坏这一直观事实的强烈冲击感和荒凉感。

9/10少一分的原因是一些操作上的不流畅，比如说在有些场景下很容易误点击离开然后移动到别的场景，而点了以后没有在中途停下取消的机会，只能看着角色跑到别的场景、别的场景加载应值结束人物可以走动、然后再跑回来；还有的场景下，离开场景的点击区域和道具栏重合了，想要离开场景需要来回调整光标。不过其余没有什么大bug，瑕不掩瑜。

如果你是对像素风的剧情向解谜游戏感兴趣的话非常建议试试看，我个人非常推荐。但截止至目前发布该评测时游戏语言还不含盖中文，希望未来制作组可以考虑加入。

The art is not mindbending, but well done, with lots of detailed animations. Lot of heart was put into the backgrounds. The puzzles are straight-forward. I think I spent the most time on finding log in a Jungle, with is a tad absurd, but in the end is was me. Some situations are bit implausible, like an amateurish swimmer doing the crawl or ppl. never changing clothes, but you can suspend those. I appreciate the story's intention, but sadly I found it as blunt as the cover art suggests. Tbh. I prefer the "twisted" Cload and Dagger games over that one.

Anyway, you can give it try, but it's not as overwhelming as the 97% positive ratings might suggest. Recommended for the sole reason that I wouldn't recommend against it, not because it's a must-play.

Great story and the difficulty is not too hard.
It took me 7.5 hours completing including all achievements. I read all dialogs without any fast skipping and for the sake of the story I advice doing the same.
The pixel graphics does not matter because the puzzles and the story does it all.

Изначально выбирал игру только из-за необычного сеттинга. Я про Индонезию знаю только то что это крупная мусульманская страна, там тысячи островов, джунгли, а еще там сняли крутые фильмы Рейд и Рейд 2.
Квесты довольно простые, не считая одного кода в конце игры, который без гугла не угадать. В этом плане обычный поинт-н-клик. Но что для такого жанра нехарактерно - есть цельный сюжет, который на первый взгляд кажется банальным, но ближе к концу выкидывает один неожиданный поворот и жесткую сцену. Не обделено произведение и моралью - не губите природу! Это конечно банально, но в современных реалиях это становится очень острой темой. Даже если забыть про многие другие виды, человечество вместе с природой уничтожает свою собственную среду обитания. Есть еще скрытая мораль, которая заключается в том что не надо работать у тех кто вас не уважает и эксплуатирует, а всем любителям вывозить лес из страны припасено место в тюрьме.
Я уже написал про медленного гг, но главная проблема это саунд. Там где на фоне в джунглях должна звучать целая мириада звуков, вас встретит тишина или как максимум простенький эмбиент. Короче, если игра не тащит по графону, то саунд для нее критически важен. Возможно у разработчиков не хватало опыта, тогда просто пожелаем им удачи и понадеемся что в будущих проектах они уделят больше внимания этому аспекту.
Если интересуетесь новыми сеттингами или просто любите подобные квесты, то и эта игра вам скорее всего понравится.
P.S. У игры нет русика, но английский в ней простой. Если хорошо знаете язык, то вам наверное даже гугл не понадобится.

All and all, I enjoyed the game. I liked getting the chance to play a game within a region/culture that I had never experienced before in gaming. Culturally, I learned a lot about Orang Rimba people and I loved the social commentary around the logging industry, the exploitation of nature, and the follies of capitalism. The story definitely was the most interesting piece for me especially since it became a mystery about halfway through.

While I enjoyed these aspects of the game, as a gameplay experience, I was conflicted lol. I DID like the gameplay and solving various puzzles. However, a L O T of the puzzles weren't the most intuitive to me. I definitely used a walkthrough to help me at the halfway mark because I just kept getting stuck. There was often nothing visually distinct about the items you were supposed to interact with, so many things were easy to miss. The story would also encourage you to combine items in some weird ways. For point and click veterans, I'm sure they'll have an easier time, but I don't think I could have finished this without help.

That all said, it was a pleasant gaming experience and I learned a lot--def recommend!

Wow, I was genuinely blown away by this seemingly simple point-n-click gem. A tight and surprisingly emotional game about two underpaid, overworked forest loggers lost in the jungles of Sumatra. The puzzles are great and just challenging enough, the story balances perfectly between light comedic touches and some genuinely great drama and thrills. Add some good lo-res graphics and music and you have a game that manages to do retro point and click right, while also telling a story we haven't seen before.

Short game but I don't mean it in a bad way cause it feels reasonable. I really enjoy the story, the puzzles are entertaining and I did almost all the achievements on the first round lol. It can have a lot of dialogue some times and the music is not as immersive as I would've liked (I put a jungle playlist on spotify lmao)

An adventure game set in an Sumatran setting, which is actually pretty unusual for some reason, when you come to think of it.
It's not a very difficult game, and not very wide on puzzles being made with the Adventure Game Studio engine, which usually results in restrictions such as a few locations and items at a time.

Although this does have a jungle with about 20-25 scenes, but still the puzzles aren't too difficult, there is pixel hunting but there aren't many items so it shouldn't be an issue.
The story is okay, but with most of the Cloak and Dagger games, also a bit dark here and there.

It's an okay game, although i'd say wait on a sale, but you can always try the two free games of the dev to give some idea, they are all in the same line and style, if you like those, then you would like this too.

Yandi tells a competent, short survival story in the somewhat informative setting of logging-ravaged Indonesia. It's an OK play experience - the visuals, story, sound, objectives and music - it's all OK (though the end feels a bit abrupt). It feels a bit like reading a news magazine article - adding the context of characters and visuals brought to life some realities of expansive jungle clearing, and there are a few frames that felt like unique visuals of life in Indonesia. However, like a news article, I felt led by a pre-determined narrative path (leading to 3 hours to complete). The point and click features are linear and elementary, moving the play along and limiting risk of back tracking or missing clues. To be fair a few charming details do remain in memory - the "sun bear" and "romantic" theme music, the scared orangutan, Kevin - but you can't miss those and there is no reward for exploration nor reason to replay (idk I found an extra flower at some point I guess?).

This is such a charming little game! I really enjoyed Yandi's quest to find his way back home.

Not as good as C&D's Legend of Hand, but still fun nonetheless.

Mechanics are very old school. While there are quite very minimal objects to interact, some might find it tedious to mill about with all the walking to be done getting point A to point B; however it does bring a genuine feel of exploration. There's very little bad to be said about the graphics and the game does a good job in bringing a certain atmosphere of solitude in the jungle. I'd say solutions and the fetch quests seems intuitive for a seasoned P&C player, though some might elicit a few head-scratches.

Sumatra is a fine little-ish point-and-click adventure game. Nothing in it is "great" and nothing in it is "bad" or, I think, even "below average".
The storyline is fine, and the characters feel sufficiently real, as does the dialogue. It's not super clever or super funny, but I did not find lines that egregiously felt unrealistic for people to say (considering the limitations of a pick-your-dialogue adventure game versus realistic conversation) and I like the main character - he's somewhat plain, but he's a nice and resourceful guy without being a hero or supernaturally capable in any sense.
To me personally it is a plus, due to interest, novelty and variety to have a game focus itself somewhere else than the western world.
The puzzles are not hard, but they are not trivial either, and I believe at least a good number of people can complete this without walkthroughs, which is a plus in its own way.
The pixel art is not very detailed - "low poly" to put it that way, and especially the human characters could do with a bit more detailing and to have them look a bit more different from one another. However, the background landscape is detailed enough to work as a beautiful-slash-dangerous jungle, and a man-made desolation you find later is even actively good-looking in its misery.
The game is not long - my playtime is not entirely descriptive as I (accidentally) left the game running once for some amount of hours - but it is longer than I thought it would be given the very short playing time of the free version some years back - from which this is a great improvement.
Again, I think it is fine - not great nor bad - value for the low price it has.

Storyline a bit on the nose but kept me curious to the end, puzzles are logical. The biggest issue for me was that there is no highlighting of clickable things, so the puzzles become difficult because of not finding what to click, rather than from solving the puzzle itself. Ok game overall, but would I recommend it? Probably not, unless you reallyy want a point-and-click adventure game set in the real world.

I pity the fool who strives for 100% achievements! I pity them as they will have to go through a mind numbingly tedious rock-paper-scissors game, that will destroy their psyche like nothing else can.
Don't worry though, if you're not an achievement hunter, this piece of infinite boredom is just there "for fun" (fun??) and it's not needed to finish the game. Apart from that, this adventurous adventure is just lovely, and pretty long for short-adventure standards. At the asking price (and especially with some kind of discount), it's definitely worth playing, if you like old school p'n'c adventure games.
Having already played 2 more Cloak & Dagger Games adventures, I believe they are now my favorite short-adventure developer.

Sumatra: Fate of Yandi is a nice and unpretentious indie game. You play as Yandi, a worker from a logging company in Sumatra, who got stranded in the wild miles away from civilization. The game evokes masterfully the feeling of being in an inhospitable jungle with highly memorable still shots, which feature prominently in the trailer. This is the game's highest point for me, which I expect to remember once the game fades from my memory. Apart from that there is a solid story with Indonesian cultural elements, simple puzzles, and a lot of bromance. I would have preferred the graphics to be more vivid, since color palette is rather dull, but it was not a deal-breaker. Recommended.

This is one of my favourite point and click adventures. There is little new here mechanically and is a standard point and click interface, but it also does nothing wrong.

Story wise it is a fairly standard "escape the jungle" plot, sandwiched in between an scene-setting intro and a more spectacular conclusion. This along with the good writing and characters is enough to make the game worth playing in its own right.

But what pushes it to the next level is the use of cutscenes, flashbacks, expository notes that would normally be considered gratuitous if not so skillfully executed. Cloak and Dagger games are masters at this particular craft, and I would consider its use here comparable with the likes of Campo Santo's "Firewatch" intro or the audio-dramas of Fool and Scholar production.

This is a great game, a wonderful example of what can be done without fancy technical effects, just by telling a good story and having good interaction.

The style is very old-school, but the pixel art is quite nice for my tastes. It's generally simple but nonetheless succeeds at evoking the feeling of its setting (the Indonesian rainforest), in the same way that a good graphic novel doesn't have to be photo-realistic to draw you in.

The interactions are also fairly old-school. Nothing super flashy here, but well-crafted puzzles that are interesting because you have to figure out what to do in the game world, not figure out how to use the interface.

The writing is unusually strong in a subtle way. It too is simple but in a way that creates a fable-like atmosphere. Although the game is fairly short at about 3 hours, it manages to weave in multiple themes and plotlines without tripping over its own feet. It's not much of a spoiler to say that one of these themes involves the tragedy of ecological destruction --- but what's remarkable to me about the game is how it infuses this theme into its puzzles without making them seem artificial or didactic. The puzzles lead you to move around the rainforest, interacting with its human and nonhuman inhabitants, and in doing so you can't help but develop a sense of wonder and appreciation for the unique environment.

The only technical issue for me is the lack of voice acting. In a way this enhances the retro feel, and of course no voice acting is better than bad voice acting. But I do think it would be great to have the text performed by quality voice actors. As far as the rest, my only real complaint is that I wish it were longer! I've played all the other games from this developer and hope to see more in the future.

This game was surprisingly good.
I don't mean to say I thought it was bad, I was convinced it was good from the very start. But it surpassed my expectations!

The plot may seem simple at the beginning, but it becomes deeper and deeper, with good and realistic characters, a wonderful sense of travel and exploration, dangers and plot twists.

The puzzles were easy, probably the main reason why the game took me about 3 hours. But it's the right duration for the story it wants to tell!

I also liked the musics, they help forget the fact that the game isn't dubbed (and probably it didn't need it anyway).

I'd definitely suggest this game to every point and click adventure lover out there!
