It has simplified mechanics of citizen tiers, for example like the Anno series, but with western Steampunk sentient robots :D

An adequate city builder, but it doesn't do anything particularly interesting. The story is extremely basic and predictable, so that doesn't help. And there's some rather shallow combat mechanics thrown in that amount to a watered-down tower defense game. Not really worth playing unless you've played all the other better city building games already and want something different. But even then, this isn't going to be very different.

Really good tycoon. It scales at a good speed, has a nice balance between tutorials and discovering things yourself. UI is clear, which is a gripe I normally have with these games. The only bad thing I can say is it lacks overlays to see which houses are satisfied vs unsatisfied. You can only see this when you go to upgrade a housing type, but if its fully upgraded, you have to manually click on each building. Other than that, it feels like a really polished city builder.

Еще одна игра во вселенной SteamWorld, где на этот раз мы развиваем город для постройки ракеты.

Что собственно происходит? По сюжету мы конвоем останавливаемся около заброшенной шахты, от которой исходят сигналы. В дальнейшей мы понемногу развиваем городок, чиним шахту и тут начинается самое интересное. В шахте 3 уровня, на каждой из которой находятся детали ракеты, которые нужно найти и откопать, параллельно добывая ресурсы. По мере прохождения будут открываться всякие плюшки для шахт и города. По мима этого, нас ждут и опасности. На пером уровне шахты бояться не стоит, это как вводный курс, но вот уже на второй нас будут встречать жуки, а на третей так вообще жуткие роботы. Нападать они будут в самый не подходящий момент, особенно на высокой сложности. Тут на помощь идут наши пароботы защитники и турели. Здесь уже начинается башенная защита. Шахты очень огромные, их исследовать очень интересно. Можно находить всякие секреты. Бывает встречаются мини головоломки

Рекомендую брать с дополнением, так как здесь вас ждет свои уникальные механики.
В вашем распоряжении большие Робо-компаньены. Ими можно управлять и давать задачи. Их тоже надо найти и откопать. По мима прочего у них есть прокачка, где можно получить полезные умения. В Шахтах появятся новые комнаты, где будут особые головоломки для роботов. Вообще умение таскать блоки очень помогает, можно сузить проход врагам, чтобы легче было отбиваться. Также на картах появились бонусы, это такие блоки, которые дают (Хилл роботам и турелям, буст урона роботам и турелям и буст добычи ресурсов). Ну и самое опасное это новый враг в противовес нашим робо-компаньенам. Как этого врага назвать я не знаю, но это жуткий робот, который одним выстрелом нафиг ломает все. Он очень силен, особенно на высокой сложности.

На выбор у нас 8 карт, прохождение каждой дает нам особый бонус, которым мы можем использовать в дальнейшем. А вот с шахтами куда интереснее. Тут есть некая рандомность, но не в генерации, а в том, что у пещер тоже прописаны готовые карты, и они тасуются в случайном порядке, однако, такую настройку можно убрать по желанию.

Игра крутая. Рекомендую. Очень жду что-то нового от разработчиков.

La verdad que a mí los city builders me encantan, pero me aburro/quemo muy rapido. SteamWorld Build es un caso distinto, mas que nada porque en comparación está en el lado corto del espectro. Pero, tambien porque genuinamente es un buen juego, con mecanicas lo suficientemente bien ejecutadas para que no te cancen a las pocas horas dentro de una partida.

Lo recomiendo bastante. 8.5/10

SteamWorld Build is a relaxing city builder. It tries to do something different by having an above ground city (ie, SimCity style), and a subterranean city (ie, like dungeon keeper). For the most part, resources are earned under the ground and you spend your time expanding both.

It's considered relaxing because you really can't lose and it's not that stressful. Each game goes through the exact same steps (build these buildings, then farm these resources, then build these other buildings, then farm these other resources, etc). Each time you beat a map you gain permanent buffs that make future playthroughs easier, but again, it is not really necessary. At worst a run takes longer, but you will always win if you just stay at it. Each map takes around 5-10 hours to beat depending on how much you want to min/max. The formula does get a bit old so I think most people would only play 3-4 maps before calling it quits.

Overall, a fun game for those who don't want to work out traffic jams and complicated systems and want a city builder with clear goals and destination. The price is fair considering the gameplay you will get out of it. 7.5/10

First playthrough is realyy nice, and it's an easy but not trivial city builder with some interesting elements in the mines.
But that's it! Every other map is exactly the same, with just some randomized areas. But everything you do, build, produce and mine is exactly the same as before and will remain the same in every future playthorugh. So imo not worth that price.

Tenative recommendation primarily for fans of the SteamWorld franchise, and secondarily for fans of city builders. The city building is quite streamlined and simple, but it does come with an interesting twist with the mine layers. It's quite light-hearted and short. Although there are multiple maps, the desire for replaying is quite low as it's basically just the same gameplay loop. 6.5/10

Ganz nett, wenn man krank im Bett liegt.

Ich hab es auf normalem Schwierigkeitsgrad gespielt und da will es nicht viel von einem. Aber das ist ja das Markenzeichen der Reihe. Von daher kein Grund zum Meckern.

Alle Systeme sind so aufeinander abgestimmt, dass sie reibungslos ineinander greifen. Man muss seine Stadt nie grundlegend umbauen. Einfach alles maximal Verbessern und dann läuft das. Das Spiel vermeidet es dem Spieler Schmerzen zuzufügen.

Dadurch wird es allerdings auch etwas uninteressant. Ich habe beispielsweise gegen Ende immer Problem in meinen Fabriken gehabt, dass sie nicht besonders opitimal produziert haben. Ich konnte aus dem Spiel allerdings nicht herausfinden, woran das lag. (Eventuell zu wenige Lagerhäuser) Aber das ist völlig egal. Dann kauft man eben ein paar Powerups für die Fabriken und dann läuft das wieder. Kein Schmerz, dass man sich wirklich bemühen müsste seine Produktion zu optimieren.

"Quäle deinen Spieler nicht" - ist bei den Steamworld Spiele wirklich die oberste Designdirektive.

Got this one for free off of Humble Monthly Bundle. It's a unique mix of city builder and dungeon management sim that makes me nostalgic for the old Dungeon Keeper series. You develop a city above ground to trade, harvest basic resources and set up refinement chains to see to your citizens' needs. More advanced materials are gained in "the mines" a grid-based sub-game where you direct your mining team to carve out space, set up camps and construct machines to get your materials back to the surface. It suffers from a similar problem to the other steamworld games where the game kind of... ends on the runway leaving you feeling like there should have maybe been one more level to really play with the resources you gained at the end. It also lacks a bit of the steamworld charm, since you play from a 'gods-eye view' and don't get to really see the unique characters that steamworld sells itself with outside of a few visual novel style exchanges that really only serve to deliver exposition.

Still, I had fun with it, cleared 3 of the 7 maps, once on hard mode and twice on normal. I left after about 18 hours feeling satisfied with my time with the game.

Je suis tombé sur le jeu au hasard, n'étant pas familier avec la franchise SteamWorld et cherchant un jeu assez posé. Je ne suis pas habitué des jeux de gestion mais j'ai été agréablement surpris par celui-ci, dans sa simplicité, dans la clarté de l'interface et des objectifs, et dans la variété de gameplay (gestion de ville et donjon crowler). En plus de ça le jeu est franchement joli et il y a une petite histoire sympatoche pour accompagner le tout (même si ce n'est clairement pas là l'intérêt du titre).

Certes les maps ne sont pas assez différentes pour justifier de toutes les faire (il y en a 8), mais ça reste sympa en faisant varier les thèmes et en jouant un peu différemment, surtout qu'on s'améliore au fur et à mesure ; globalement ma première partie a pris 12h, la deuxième 9 et les suivantes environ 5. Au final, en 30h de jeu, j'ai terminé 4 maps et tous les succès (par contre le succès des routes, plus jamais svp).

Je recommande à tous ceux qui cherchent un jeu de gestion pas trop compliqué et pas trop long.

Эта игра SteamWorld BUILD ламповый градостроитель с блоковой копалкой вроде Dungeon Keeper на лайте .
Комментировать тут сложно, это скорее детская игруля на пару вечеров, в отличии SteamWorld Heist и SteamWorld Dig

Что не понравилось, нет введения в игру, про бафы понял только к середине игры( в каждом здании можно баф кинуть купленный на вокзале), внешняя торговля с паровозиком тоже понял на второй день игры. да и скорее торговля для сиюминутных задач, она больше напрягает поставил забыл - нет . не прокатит. зайди и отмени.
Плюсы : визуал + квест+ Издатель Thunderful Publishing (хорошие игры )

Карочи Итоги: игра вызвала приятное одноразовое впечатление. я купил в марте 25 за 425р , в марте 26 она продается за 170р . за вторую цену рекомендую - брать обязательно .. скрасить пару вечеров.

As far as city builders go, This is one of my favorites. The mix between mining and holding the city up top together is a unique and fun choice of game play. It is easier than others but it does what is intended and has good story telling to go with it. A must play and highly recommended for city builders and it beats other city builders that have higher price tags, worth the money imo. .

if you get it on a deep discount like I did, this game is fun for a few hours. but it's very limited in what you can do, the build cycle gets pretty tedious, and there's narrative hooks that fight their setting which are incredibly frustrating in a city builder. don't *force* me to have useless aristocrat bots unless I can build a robo-guillotine.

It falls short for me. After finishing a run, finding out every other map has the exact same progression and higher difficulty mostly affects my least favourite part of the game (the endless enemy spawn in the mines) gave me zero reason to try any of the other maps.

I did somewhat enjoy my time with it, but other than as part of a bundle it feels way too expensive for how shallow the gameplay is.

Performance was impecable, and the vibes were great, but ultimately I just wouldn't recommend a friend to buy this game.

1. візуально приємна графіка, для кожного рівня можна обрати серед "текстурпаків", додає атмосферності проходженню. або дозволяє обрати улюблений і грати на ньому
2. дуже зручна в користуванні. карти великі, місця багато. будиночки можна безкоштовно совати
3. окрім бази є підземелля зі своїми механіками, ресурсами і навіть трошки ворогами
4. потяг. потяги це круто. а ще він привозить "зачарки" для будівель і роботів в підземеллях
5. перекоти-поле містить смаколики
6. у грі є десь 8 карт і за перемогу гравець отримує унікальну будівлю, яка дає крутезний бонус, її можна будувати в кожному наступному проходженні.
7. реіграбельність середня. є відмінності + бонусні будівлі. мені вистачило 4-5 карт, щоб все помацати
8. є длс з новою механікою в підземеллях. робить їх трохи цікавішими
9. орієнтовно, одна катка — 5 годин, може трохи більше, тож 4 проходження дадуть близько 20 годин приємної гри

Honestly, a solid city builder, but I felt no need to play the additional maps after beating the first. It's a cute game, especially if you're newer to the genre. However, if you're a city building veteran like me (e.g. Timberborn, Against the Storm, Banished), then this game will likely feel too easy and shallow.

It does introduce an interesting mechanic of digging down and building on lower layers, but in practice you just end up having to focus on one layer at a time. So you'll focus on the surface, then dig and focus there, then back to the surface, rinse and repeat.

While I can't personally recommend it, it is much more relaxing and forgiving than other city builders, so if that's what you're looking for you should at least give it a try and judge for yourself.

I want to really like this as I like the Steam Bots, not so much the Heist but the original digger style game. And I also like city sims.... that being said I find the game is running two styles
The surface a city builder which is somewhat annoying but after you work it out it is ok.... then there is
The mines, setting up shoring, set up worker/fighter/contruction spaces. Set up mining equipment. and finally set up defensive/offensive capability ... and wait for the waves ... tedios, annoying when limited to resources and feels like fighting with one eye open and one arm tied behind your back...
Really want to give a thumbs up.... but sadly, this is going to sit on my archive since i cant get a refund.

Reminds me a bit of playing Caesar 3 back in the day, complete with keeping citizens happy with different amenities. The problem is that it lacks basic QoL found in that game in the 1990s, making a lot of tasks feel unnecessarily convoluted. There aren't overlays of any kind except when placing specific buildings; the overview screen is lacking important details and functionality.

It's decent but it's not great; it has a lot of info to look at but no clear way to filter that info in many screens. The mines can get confusing fast as you spread out - the ability to make multiple worker dorms is handy, but also can be hard to keep track of. The story is... very 'well we need a story here, have something on my desk by three', and the voicework is on a similar level.

It's also lacking on the ability to expand basic buildings, requiring items that are somewhat RNG and not seeming to have any way to increase citizen housing size. Upgrading houses switches citizen types, which means you lose the former type that occupied that spot, and you have to make sure the available amenities match the new ones.

Nothing's really a dealbreaker - it definitely feels like the game is meant to be E for Everyone on multiple levels - but there's just some basic QoL elements that it could really use.

The concept is neat and the designs are good, and I do enjoy it.

Excelente City Builder, es perfecto como primer juego de gestión ya que este juego es bastante accesible en cuanto a exigencias, por ejemplo, no hace falta que las fábricas estén cerca de las refinerías, basta con poner un almacén al lado de la fábrica y otro almacén al lado de la refinería, se termina cada "campaña" en unas 8 o 9 horas, y por cada mapa que terminemos iremos desbloqueando mejoras permanentes para usar en otras partidas.

It's Anno Steamworld with some very light dungeon keeper mechanics for below ground layers. Everything is very well done and very polished. There's a certain part of my brain dedicated to each game that I love - more a general format than anything else, but it takes the name of the first one.

This game has a neat overlap between Anno and Dungeon Keeper that keeps things interesting. There's not much needed for the above ground section, based on Anno style games, until you start getting materials from below to process them and progress. Similarly, there's not much needed for the below ground section, except you need processed goods and elevated citizens to progress your mining.

Needless to say, since it scratches two itches in my brain, this one's an instant favourite.

The core systems are extremely basic. There’s little depth, no meaningful complexity, and almost no need for strategic thinking or problem-solving. While the world itself is serviceable, it didn’t resonate with me. The premise—steam-powered, sentient robots—just feels a bit too silly to take seriously.

The story and its delivery are particularly disappointing. The writing lacks impact, and the storytelling fails to create any real engagement or immersion.

Overall, this is easily one of the worst city builders I’ve ever played.

A pretty fun city building game with a somewhat Dungeon Keeper-ish element in the mine management part of the game. Has some mild jank, could do with a few more info points in the tooltips (like average deliveries for warehouses) and can lack in challenge if you know what you're doing even on the hardest difficulty, though like most Steamworld games I think they're going for a more cozy and casual feeling and it works really well for that.

tl;dr It is fun, that's a yes from me.

Personal backstory: My first city builder - city builder, building "real"cities, was Sim City on SNES. I was 29, back then.

My only possible criticism:
Sometimes I was frustrated I couldn't blast through some rock or some other obstacle above ground whilst building the city, but I grew to appreciate the way that helped me think of different approaches. Nevertheless, I do wish I could blast through and build over even more real estate of the various maps. If you're guessing I've never even looked at sandbox mode, you'd be correct. Reckon I'll do that, mebbe next time.

The rest of this review is voicing approval:
I really enjoyed playing this game and getting all the achievements. On casual, it is especially relaxing.
I imagine the folk who crave a steep challenge may be less enamoured, as even on "hard," it poses zero nightmare situations. Sometimes I crave a nightmare, but there are other games for that.

I've only bothered to look at my times so I could write this review:
As I look over the time it took me to launch the rocket for each city I made, on casual and balanced it runs anywhere from 8.5-27 hours (27 hours was Milngavie, which I set in Tumbleton, and 27 hours was totally a choice of spending loads a time, all strictly for fun). I like taking my time, mebbe deciding I don't like how a thing is at all, destroying it, and rebuilding. The games I played on hard all clock in under 8 hours and a few minutes. 7 hours is my fastest "hard" game, and I was not even thinking about how much time I was spending. I was surprised how quickly I played through when I did hard mode.

Because I am notoriously slow--the antithesis of "speedrun" is my standard game style--am reckoning that means, it prolly takes a "normal" player 3-4 hours to complete.

My final achievement was launching the rocket without building any turrets, and mind, I've been fannying about with this game for quite awhile, but I was surprised how quick and easy it was (did it on balanced, as I wanted to do this without too much stress, but am betting it's not much more difficult on hard, was surprised it was done in just under 8.5 hours, and I thought I was playing very very leisurely and slow.

The first time through I enjoyed the full wee story. (Generally I'm one more into the mechanics, logic, and strategy of a game, over "story-rich" or character development, hence, I only went with the story on the first play through, prolly won't revisit it, but that's just how I play. )

The tie-ins with SteamWorld Dig and Dig II are familiar and fun nostalgia. The art is cute, thoughtful, and well-designed. I had personal delights choosing the names for the towns in the various locations. Completing a location unlocks a "Landmark Building" that gives vital perks if you want to play with the most advantages. I recommend unlocking all the Landmark Buildings as they are fun to look at, as well as giving you things such as "all conveyor belts free." If you want to play SteamWorld (Austerity) Build, Tory-style, like, never using any landmark building; that would provide the greatest challenge, if you need that.

Defo has replayability via the many different towns, levels of difficulty (though, again, nothing brutal, if you need that), and themes. Also this is really great when you want to play "some game, "need only a tiny challenge, but still want/need to think a bit, plus, the game fares well if you start it, then leave it for a long time, and come back to build more, whether days weeks or months later.

I have 14 games saved, because I don't want to delete, as they each have their wee character. Sometimes I just go back and watch the town I created.

One of the better city builders out there. Gives me Theme Park Inc vibes on the surface, and a kind of Dungeon Keeper feel in the mines, but very much it's own game. My only real criticism is the alerts for the hive waves get tedious since once you have a good setup you don't need to worry about them anymore (which is fine because the game challenges you in other ways as well).

Key positives: It doesn't rush you. You need to expand in order to complete the objectives, and expanding can be challenging, but you can take your time with that.

Conscious thought was put into additional playthroughs. The parts that are fine on first run that get tedious after a while are solved by the 'landmarks' you get by completing the different maps. For example, roads costing resources gets tedious, but a certain landmark you can unlock makes them free, which is very rewarding.

Everything has so much character, it's a feast of playfulness in the same way Theme Park Inc was in my childhood. This game has 'soul' as some people put it.

When you get tired of one thing, there's always something else you can do, even just scanning the map for tumbleweed that has rolled in feels good. There's a good mix of challenge and chill, for me at least.

Things to bear in mind: There was the occasional mechanic that had me very confused. For example I didn't know you had to select the cactus farm for the option to place the 'fields' for it to work. The workshop interface I didn't realise you needed a workshop area AND extractors.

The ability to move buildings at no cost cannot be understated. It took me a while to realise I can use this strategically, and not just for aesthetics.

Großartiges Spiel - inzwischen 4 Karten bis zum Ende gespielt - das Spiel auf Schwer gespielt - toll! Die Hintergrundmusik ist einfach absolut ruhig und passend.
Klare Empfehlung für Aufbau und etwas Strategie was einfach nie zu stressig wird, dennoch etwas Planung benötigt.

Sehr kurzweiliges und gut durchdachtes Städtebau und Dungeon-Management-Spiel. Hatte keine Abstürze und nur einen kleinen Bug, wo sich die Roboter in der Mine nicht mehr bewegt hatten. Da aber kontinuierlich automatisch gespeichert wird war das kein Ding. Nur der Wiederspielwert liegt mir nicht. Man kann zwar pro Durchlauf einen "Perk" (zum Beispiel dass die Eisenbahn anstatt alle 5 Minuten alle 4 Minuten einfährt oder dass der Bau von Straßen nichts kostet etc.) freischalten, aber das ist mir irgendwie zu wenig, Wahrscheinlich dann sinnvoll wenn man alle Errungenschaften freischalten will, dann machen diese "Perks" es einem wohl einfacher.
Hat mir auf jeden Fall Spaß gemacht. Somit "Daumen rauf" :-)

我并不清楚这种玩法的开山鼻祖是谁，但我最起码玩过《纪元1800》，而这款游戏完完全全就是纪元1800的简化版，资源配置逻辑一模一样，矿洞我也扩建了一大片了，和地面也没什么区别。
我玩纪元1800已经玩烦了，玩这个也没什么意思。

На прохождение потрачено 11 часов с перерывами.
Некоторые вещи не понятны интуитивно, а в подсказках про них сказано мельком - сообразила только на 3м этаже как пользоваться "баффами" в шахте.

В целом интересно - прикольно - затянуло на первые 2 этажа, на 3й потратила вечер. Экономика относительно простая - можно было бы покрутить и сделать немного посложнее, на сложном режиме. Можно соблюдать логику - выносить промку в сторону или не соблюдать ее совсем. Забавно.

Реиграбелльности, к сожалению, не вижу - чисто добить ачивки.
В целом - со скидкой норм, на поиграть раз в год. Но отзывы ниже поддерживаю - пока что смешанно, хотелось бы больше влияния от допов, экономики и др. вещей внутри игры - чтобы она заставляла тебя думать чуть больше чем сейчас.

Think of it as a strategy-lite game. You won't find mega complicated mechanics but sometimes that's a good thing if you wanna just sit back and chill. Gameplay loop is split into two tasks which both unlock progress with one another ; city building, and mine exploration. Both are interesting enough and work quite well, though the mine attacks can be a bit irritating (though you can set up defenses easily enough)

It'll take 4-8 hours for the first play through and then there are multiple scenarios for optional extra play. As I find the game quite relaxing I'm enjoying going through them and getting the bonus buildings that they each unlock, even though the gameplay is pretty much identical in every scenario.

I do think the end game could be improved somewhat, if the devs are listening?
* Add more "upgrade" options for the workers (in mines), and for buildings- like way, way more
* Have other objectives beyond "build/fuel the rocket" - what about an end of scenario boss fight which needs e.g. 20+ guards with upgrades
* Allow mine machine upgrades (via the existing cards system)
* Make decorations serve a purpose, e.g. improve morale which could, in tiers, affect production speeds etc - as a consequence make them harder/more expensive to produce
* Add a means to (slowly) farm rubies, beyond the random chance on a tumbleweed
* Add a means late-game to block out the enemy spawners in mines

UX improvements
* Clicking one (non residential) building should highlights all others of the same type - allow cycling through them

初プレイから高難易度クリアまで11時間。手応え十分。
中盤、収支のバランスは取れているがリソースが溜まるまで何もできない状態が多発して、待つだけの時間がそこそこあったことと、終盤でタワーディフェンスゲームになってしまうのが惜かった。
「必要最低限しか掘らないのが正解だよ」という誘導でもないかぎり、初プレイの人間はとにかく掘るだろう。

それでも一度クリアしてセオリーを把握すれば、ローグライクゲームのように何度でもトライできる、キャンペーンモード特化の街づくりシミュとして楽しめるように思えた。

安定度？という数値は最後まで分からなかった。どれだけ柱を置いても落石が発生する。
落石で破壊されたベルトコンベアはプレイヤーの手動操作じゃないと修理されないのはかなりのストレスだった。

悪くないけど絶賛はできない。
このジャンルだとFactory townとかのほうがシンプルで優れているかもしれない。

Good Anno-like City Builder, level of citizens and needs are well chosen.
Instead of defending your city you have a Mineshaft which you can explore, there is then some extend of fighting off enemies. Building and fighting off were both fun.
Once you won a map you get a specific perk which you can use on the next map you play.
Nice addition to keep going and make the next map a bit easier.

SteamWorld Build is a delightful city-builder where I confidently place my first few houses thinking, “Yes, I am a competent mayor.” Fast forward three hours and I’m desperately reorganizing production chains because I forgot that robots also need basic resources to function. Who knew?

The town-building is smooth and charming. Little steambots wander around like polite metal citizens, factories chug along happily, and everything looks neat… until one missing resource causes the entire economy to panic like a steampunk stock market crash.

Then you start digging.

The mine begins innocently. “I’ll just grab some extra materials.” Suddenly I’m running a full underground operation, unlocking mysterious ancient tech, and expanding tunnels like a caffeinated mole with a management degree.

Balancing the calm, organized surface with the chaotic, treasure-hunting depths is incredibly satisfying. One minute I’m carefully zoning residential districts, the next I’m excavating glowing artifacts that probably shouldn’t be touched. Naturally, I touch them.

It’s relaxing, it’s strategic, and it somehow turns “just one more building” into “why is it 1AM?”

A charming steampunk city-builder where I feel like a brilliant industrial visionary… right up until I forget to supply coal and everything politely falls apart.
