I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected. Be warned that it is quite difficult, even on easy mode mainly due to the puzzles and looking around for key items while being stalked by the butcher, but if you enjoy tense stealth horror games I think this is one of the best and most unique ones I've played in recent memory. I even went back to play again and unlock more endings even though it's so stressful, lol. I was so on edge that I got jumpscared by my discord notifications, although the scare factor did start to wear off a bit once I was on my second playthrough and getting used to the layout of the house. This is definitely a hidden gem of a horror game and definitely give it a shot if you're up for the challenge

Sentí terror y tensión de verdad, sí, pero una vez entiendes las mecánicas del carnicero es cuando justo has llegado al punto en el que el juego se centra más en los puzles, lo cual vuelve esta mecánica de sigilo/persecución bastante tediosa y molesta.

Si a lo anterior le sumamos que algunos puzles no tienen buenos indicadores de qué hay que hacer, pues se termina volviendo un juego de leer guías en internet. De verdad, hay puzles MUY rebuscados, lo cual no es malo per se, pero si viene acompañado de una descripción extremadamente vaga o directamente confusa, pues termina dando rabia al leer la solución. Más que todo porque se podría solucionar muy fácilmente con una mejor descripción al interactuar con el objeto requerido: no es lo mismo "parece hecho de cristal templado" a "parece un cristal muy frágil, probablemente sea cristal templado".

Stay Out of the House peca mucho de asumir que todos los jugadores van a lograr conectar los hilos tan escondidos que hay en la casa.

Además de esto, no sé si por decisión artística o qué, pero los gritos del carnicero se cortan todo el rato. Se termina volviendo hasta gracioso.

El final fue lo peor sin dudas, aunque no le quita mérito a la primera mitad del juego que sí fue muy disfrutable. [b]Si lo llegas a comprar, ya sabes a lo que vas.[/b]

I must say this game is fantastic. The enemies give you an everpresent dread while exploring the house and bunker, and the storyline has surprising depth. Only a few of the puzzles/mechanics lacked sufficient explanation, but nothing that further exploring wouldnt eventually flesh out via notes/etc. Hard difficulty became less hard when you find food stores, but until then it gives you a genuine challenge. 10/10

Эталонный, сочный хоррор, отлично стилизованный под графику с игр на Playstation 1.
Выглядит стильно, играется приятно, Пугает знатно.
Стоит отметить, что финальная секция игры не ощущается так кайфово, как основная секция.
Неиронично считаю одним из лучших инди PS1 хорроров.
Рекомендую всем застрелить бабку маньяка!

Not recommended. The game is glitchy, not scary, and full of frustrating design choices. Keyboard and mouse controls feel bad, recycled assets are obvious, puzzles are confusing in a bad way, and bugs kill any tension. There are some good ideas (concept, soundtrack, lore), but the game is way too long and poorly executed. Not worth £11. [TLDR version, read my full review below for more details.. there will be spoilers though]

I wanted to enjoy Stay Out Of The House, but after finally sitting down and playing through more of it, I can’t reccomend it. The game is a broken, glitchy mess that fails at being scary, and a lot of its design choices actively work against the player. Right away, the controls on keyboard and mouse feel bad. Movement and interaction feel awkward enough that using a controller is actually the better option, which is kind of embarrassing for a PC game. At that point, if you’re playing on something like PlayStation, Xbox, or even a Steam Deck, you might as well just play it there with the lights on instead. The PC version isn’t tense or immersive, it’s just boring unless you’re making fun of it to yourself like an immature teenager. A lot of the game also feels recycled. Scripts, features, textures, and mechanics are reused from one of the developer’s other games to the point where this just feels like a knockoff cashgrab version of it. It reminds me of how Hanna-Barbera kept ripping off Scooby-Doo… even though they made Scooby-Doo. What makes this worse is that I did like this game at one point. Back in 2022, I played the first chapter and thought it was decent. The ending jumpscare actually worked on me the first time. I got stuck early in chapter two, didn’t know what I was doing, and dropped it. Fast forward to late 2025, I decided to replay it because I enjoyed some of the developer’s other games and wanted to finally finish this one. That was a mistake. The first chapter completely lost its impact. Instead of being eerie or tense, it was boring and glitchy, and I just wanted it to be over. Chapter two is where the game really becomes frustrating. There’s a maze section that is incredibly annoying, and the dog you find which SHOULD be helping you locate the house... doesn’t actually help. It leads you to a truck with useless notes and that’s it. You also find an abandoned church that exists purely for lore and serves no gameplay purpose at all. And somehow, even after all of this, you’re still not close to the house. By the time you finally reach the house, you’re already so annoyed that when the Night Shift Abductor catches you, he isn’t scary at all. He starts chasing you and it's just like "This game sucks anyway, just catch me." From there, the third chapter starts and the game completely loses any momentum it had left. You wake up in a cage and the protagonist says something cheesy like “Uh ohh!! Where am I?” which kills the tone instantly. There’s also a lighter mechanic that barely matters because of the item limit. Instead of engaging with it, you can just turn up your screen brightness in your system or TV settings and play the entire game that way. I’m not joking, that’s genuinely the easier solution. Some of the design decisions are just confusing, and not in a fun way like Sudoku or Portal. There’s a toolbox with a padlock code, and one of the notes implies the code is 4?62, but it’s actually 5373. For some reason, the internet collectively decided to troll everyone by saying the code was 4262, which just adds to the frustration. There’s also a room in the vents with a VHS tape and a TV. In the developer’s other game (the one this feels like a knockoff of), VHS tapes act as traps that alert the enemy. In this game, VHS tapes let you save. That makes no sense. Does the developer want players to save or not? If the goal was discouraging saving, they executed that part perfectly. On top of all that, I ran into bugs. At one point, while hiding under a bed, the Night Shift Abductor set a trap. When I stood up, the game glitched and we were both stuck. He couldn’t attack me unless I moved, and then I instantly died by turning the camera. That was basically the point where I stopped playing, because it wasn’t worth pulling through the rest. To be fair, there are good ideas here. Making a sequel to Night Shift was a decent concept, even if that game wasn’t amazing. Turning it into a digital escape room was also a good idea. The fictional cult tying multiple games together in the same universe is creative, and the soundtrack (from what I heard) actually does a good j*b at setting a creepy mood. But this game is way too long for what it is. The developer usually makes short experiences, and this feels stretched to a weird AAA length. Chapter one especially could’ve been improved by adding more activities to the convenience store. Right now, you explore, play a fake arcade game, sweep the floor, and wait forever for customers to show up.. and there's only three of them. During the maze section, simple toggleable arrows, hints, or riddles would’ve gone a long way toward reducing frustration without ruining the experience. Conclusion: Don’t waste £11 on this game unless you absolutely have to own it. There are a lot of better horror games out there. If you really want something from this developer, I’d honestly recommend checking out their CD-ROM releases instead. They’re $25 in American currency, come with bonus content, old versions, and downloadable soundtracks, and have more worth than this. And don’t buy this game just because your favorite YouTuber played it. In 20 years, people are probably going to critique this the same way they do games like Back to the Future or Skate or Die on NES, titles that got good reviews at the time and later aged terribly. For now, I guess I’ll just be one of those weirdos with the “wrong” opinion.

カルト的な人気を誇るデベロッパー「Puppet Combo」の集大成とも言える作品。前半はウォーキングシミュレーター的なアドベンチャーだが、本編である家パートからは、殺人鬼から隠れつつ脱出を目指す、ステルス・サバイバル（いわゆる『Hello Neighbor』の超・殺人鬼版）へと変貌する。

この画質、この音、この閉塞感。すべてが意図的に「不快」で、最高に怖い。

本作は映画『悪魔のいけにえ（The Texas Chain Saw Massacre）』への強烈なオマージュであり、プレイヤーを「獲物」の立場に叩き落とす。 PS1時代を思わせるローポリゴンのグラフィックは、高解像度よりもむしろ想像力を刺激し、薄汚れた壁や床にこびりついた血痕の「臭い」まで漂ってきそうな不穏な空気を作り出している。

殺人鬼に見つかった時の追いかけっこは心臓に悪いほどの緊張感だが、それ以上に「通気口を這い回る」「死体を漁る」といった行動を通じて、自分自身も汚れきった生存本能に目覚めていく感覚が、本作の真骨頂と言えるだろう。

・Puppet Combo印とも言える、VHS風フィルターと80年代スラッシャー映画の空気を完璧に再現したゲームデザイン。
・あえて粗いローポリゴンで描くことで、逆に不気味さと不潔さを際立たせた世界観と、容赦のないゴア表現。
・『悪魔のいけにえ』を彷彿とさせる、ハンマーを持った狂人との、心臓が止まるような恐怖の追いかけっこ。

【BAD】
・本編に入る前のプロローグにあたる「Night Shift（夜勤）」パートが長く冗長で、かつイベントを進めるためのトリガー（特定の業務や行動）が分かりづらく、本番の恐怖を味わう前に忍耐が求められる。

Stay out of the house- отличный представитель жанра survival horror, в ней присутствуют интересные и запутанные головоломки, менеджемнт инвентаря и жуткая атмосфера старых слешеров, если вы фанат первых резидентов и сайлент хилов рекомендую поиграть в эту игру, за свою небольшую цену игра предоставляет крайне увлекательный и напряженный геймплей. Despite some initial frustration, a few overlong diary entries, and instances of slightly finnicky gameplay, Stay Out of the House delivers a rich, gripping, and satisfyingly challenging survival horror experience that hearkens back to the classic survival horror games of the 90's and early 2000's, enhanced by Puppet Combo's creepy trademark visual style of lo-fi 80's VHS tapes. I can safely say that I will be revisiting this game again and again.

What can I say about this game? Easily Puppet Combo's best one. it's half survival horror, half stealth, and it mixes them so well that it's both scary and stressful as hell (lol).

I'd be lying if I said the bunker section at the end isn't weaker than the house part but it's still solid. I beat it on hard, so managing resources was super important during the 12 hours it took me to finish it. Overall, I'd give it a 9/10. it's almost a masterpiece for indie horror.

i love a lot of the puppet combo games, and this one definitely hits like the rest. i enjoyed my time with it a lot, but just didnt feel compelled to beat it when i kept dying.

One mfer screams and chases your ass to kill you. He places camera and trap and trip wire and he cut other human. You got grandma who crashes out upon seeing you and if you kill grandma, mfer crashes out. You got other survivors as sacrifice and you can become queen. Veri gud, can recommend. O jogo é muito bom, talvez o melhor jogo de terror que joguei faz uns anos.
A ambientação, atmosfera e a imersão são SURREAIS, os gráficos do jogo trabalham pra aumentar tudo a sua volta e tudo flui perfeito.
Minha única crítica severa vem aos constantes bugs do jogo, na minha jornada pra pegar todas as conquistas encarei diversas vezes bugs constantes que impediam de continuar o jogo, coisas que envolviam um item que deveria funcionar em tal lugar simplesmente não funcionar, o que impedia meu progresso e eu era obrigado a voltar o save, isso aconteceu diversas vezes e me frustrou bastante.

Грязный линолеумный пол обжигает щеку, запах плесени и чего-то затхлого проникает в легкие. Последнее, что я помню – это мелькнувший в глазах силуэт, массивный, угрожающий, и этот проклятый молот.

Меня тащат. Грубые руки, словно клешни, впиваются в одежду, волокут вверх по скрипучим ступеням. Каждый шаг – пытка, каждый вдох – борьба с подступающей тошнотой. Наконец, резкий толчок, и я падаю на холодный, металлический пол. Звук захлопывающейся клетки бьет по ушам, как приговор. Я в ловушке. Как животное.

Три дня. Три дня до расплаты. Что это значит? Что он собирается со мной сделать? Почему я? Почему именно я стал его новой игрушкой? Вопросы роятся в голове, как стая голодных мух, но ответов нет. Только тишина, нарушаемая лишь моим собственным прерывистым дыханием и отдаленным, зловещим скрипом где-то в глубине дома.

Добро пожаловать в дом Мясника. Добро пожаловать в мой новый дом. Ирония, горькая, как полынь, обжигает горло. Я помню предупреждение, выведенное корявыми буквами на покосившемся заборе: STAY OUT OF THE HOUSE. Я проигнорировал его. Теперь я здесь, запертый в этой клетке, словно дичь, ожидающая своей участи.

Первые часы проходят в тумане страха и отчаяния. Я пытаюсь осмыслить происходящее, но мозг отказывается работать. Каждый шорох, каждый скрип заставляет меня вздрагивать. Я слышу его. Он где-то рядом. Он слушает. Я должен быть тихим. Не попадаться на глаза. Но как? Как сбежать из этой клетки, из этого дома, из лап этого безумца?

Я начинаю исследовать свою новую обитель. Клетка – прочная, с толстыми прутьями. Никаких слабых мест, никаких щелей. Но вокруг… вокруг есть что-то. Я прислушиваюсь. Слышу шаги. Тяжелые, размеренные. Он ходит где-то по дому. Я замираю, стараясь не дышать.

Дни тянутся мучительно медленно. Я начинаю замечать детали. На полу клетки – несколько обрывков ткани, стараясь их не трогать. В углу – ржавая миска. И что-то блестит под прутьями. Я осторожно протягиваю руку. Это… ключ. Маленький, ржавый ключ. Сердце замирает. Неужели это так просто?

Я пытаюсь вставить ключ в замок. Он не подходит. Черт! Это была ловушка? Или просто очередная насмешка? Я отбрасываю ключ с отчаянием.

Но потом я вспоминаю. Инструменты. Подсказки. Мне нужно использовать смекалку. Я начинаю внимательнее осматривать клетку. И замечаю, что один из прутьев немного расшатан. Не сильно, но достаточно, чтобы попытаться.

Я начинаю раскачивать прут. Это требует времени и сил. Каждый скрип металла кажется оглушительным. Я боюсь, что он услышит. Но я должен. Я должен выбраться.

На второй день, когда я уже почти потерял надежду, прут поддается. С громким скрежетом он отходит от крепления. Я протискиваюсь наружу, чувствуя, как одежда цепляется за острые края. Я свободен. Пока.

Теперь я в доме. Темном, пыльном, наполненном запахом смерти. Я двигаюсь на цыпочках, каждый шаг – выверенное движение. Страх сковывает тело, но адреналин подстегивает. Я слышу его шаги. Они приближаются. Я прячусь за грудой старых тряпок в темном углу. Сердце колотится в груди, как пойманная птица.

Он проходит мимо. Его силуэт – массивный, искаженный тенями. Я вижу его руки – большие, грубые, с длинными, грязными ногтями. Он что-то бормочет себе под нос, его голос – низкий, хриплый. Я задерживаю дыхание, молясь, чтобы он меня не заметил.

Он уходит. Я выдыхаю, чувствуя, как дрожат колени. Теперь я должен найти выход. Я начинаю исследовать дом, стараясь быть максимально тихим. Комнаты темные, заставленные старой мебелью, покрытой пылью. В воздухе висит запах гнили и чего-то металлического, похожего на кровь.

Я нахожу кухню. На столе – окровавленный нож. На стене – множество крюков, на некоторых висят куски мяса. Мой желудок скручивается. Это дом Мясника. Он действительно Мясник.

Я продолжаю искать. В одной из комнат я нахожу старый верстак. На нем – различные инструменты: молотки, пилы, плоскогубцы. И среди них… блестит что-то металлическое. Револьвер. 38-го калибра. Мои пальцы дрожат, когда я беру его. Он тяжелый, холодный. В барабане есть патроны. Надежда вспыхивает в груди.

Я слышу его снова. Он приближается. Я прячусь за дверью, прижимая револьвер к груди. Он входит в комнату, осматривается. Его взгляд скользит по мне, но он не видит. Я замираю, стараясь слиться с тенью.

Он уходит. Я выхожу из укрытия. Время идет. Я должен действовать. Я ищу подсказки. В ящике стола я нахожу старый дневник. Он исписан корявым почерком. Я читаю. Это записи Мясника. Он пишет о своих жертвах, о своей "работе". Он одержим. Он считает себя художником.

Я узнаю, почему он выбрал меня. Я был слишком любопытен. Я слишком близко подошел к его дому. Я не послушал предупреждение.

Дневник также содержит информацию о его ловушках. Он описывает их с пугающей детализацией. Я должен быть осторожен.

На третий день я готов. Я знаю, где он находится. Я знаю, как он действует. Я держу револьвер крепко. Я больше не жертва. Я – охотник.

Я иду по дому, следуя карте, которую нарисовал в своем воображении, основываясь на записях в дневнике. Я избегаю ловушек. Я слышу его шаги. Он знает, что я сбежал. Он ищет меня.

Я нахожу его в подвале. Он стоит у большого стола, на котором лежит окровавленный фартук. Он оборачивается, когда я вхожу. Его глаза – безумные, горящие злобой.

"Ты вернулся, моя маленькая птичка?" – рычит он.

Я поднимаю револьвер. "Нет. Я пришел забрать свою свободу."

Он смеется. "Ты думаешь, что можешь меня остановить?"

Он бросается на меня. Я стреляю. Громкий выстрел эхом разносится по дому. Он падает.

Я стою, тяжело дыша. Я сделал это. Я выжил. Я сбежал.

Но я знаю, что этот дом, этот ужас, навсегда останется со мной. Я никогда не забуду три дня в клетке Мясника. И я никогда не забуду...

Pretty fun game overall. I enjoyed the Texas Chain Saw Massacre inspired aesthetic of the House section. Honestly the only issue I have is that any sort of fear element goes away the second you realize the butcher can be outrun with very little effort.

The game seemed cool at first but the later sections of the game drags on for way too long and it just waters down the horror, having a killer that chases you gets old really quick, especially when you have most of the house unlocked. Once you understand how the ai works, he starts to become much less of a threat and just makes him a chore to deal with. Not a terrible game but I'd say get it on sale.

excellent atmosphere super scary. The Butcher AI really good for the game he is not annoying (at least on medium) and the grandma you can almost completely avoid. The sound design is fantastic The Butcher's scream is so eerie and jolting. Absolutely loved this game 8.9/10.

o jogo em si tem um clima bem pesado e sombrio e da uns suspenses e ate uns sustos as vezes com o assassino, puzzles bem elaborados na teoria, porem na pratica... o jogo a maioria das vezes buga e fica uma situaçao chata
na minha primeira jogatina eu cheguei ate certo ponto que o assassino apenas ficava parado, eu passava na frente dele, dava tiros e nada, o jogo quebrou pra mim e isso facilitou horrores, entao resolvi dar um loading e meu itens sairam da ordem que eu deixei no inventario( isso nem é tao grave, mas enfim) houve tambem o puzzle de um relogio que simplesmente nao tava dando pra solucionar, entao resolvi pesquisar no youtube e vi que meu game bugou
a puppet combo teve muito tempo para fazer esse game e realmente é muito bom com novas mecanicas , porem ainda tem muita frequencia de bugs. Mas sim, da pra se divertir jogando numa noite tranquilo
paguei 28 reais, sinto que nao valeu isso tudo, mas foi legal a experiencia por conta propria
