Surprising to me that this still has "Very Positive" reviews when you can't even play it anymore. There's also no indication on the store page that the game has been shut down it is not playable in any capacity, yet they're still selling paid dlc for it. Please do not waste your time trying to get into the game, or worse pay money for any dlc. The only hope is if the publisher steps in and gives people the tools to host their own servers, but given that it's been over a year I wouldn't hold my breath.
EDIT: Sometime between my review and December 7th 2025, the game was delisted from the storefront and any paid dlc cannot be bought. It's a real shame that the game has become lost media (for now at least), but it is what it is. I'm going to leave my original review as is, the handful of people who may stumble upon it deserve to know that the publisher was content with charging money for an unplayable game for years. I'm going to be wary of buying any game with their name attached to it from now on.
hell yeah I love piling on a dead game that needs to be taken down from the steam store. servers dead, game's dead, and based on player count it has been dead for years. for game grumps to still be selling DLC is unethical at best, predatory at worst. Could any of the grumps be predators when they're NOT selling DLC for a dead game???

Great concept for a game. I truly had a lot of fun playing at the peak, so much potential that is lost. I like the joke about it being a old soviet found media / found code.

When it came out it was a pretty fun 2D battle royale game but sadly there is no way to play this anymore...
This was a cool concept with amazing art design and I had some fun with it, but according to the discord the server isn't being paid for so the game is dead. Can't even get beyond loading screen to mess around in a lobby which is sad.
Do not buy any of the DLC or extras, you can't even get far enough in game see it (should really be removed from Steam.)
Maybe someday they'll pick it back up for some kind of private/peer-to-peer option, but not likely.
This used to be a really fun platformer Battle Royale featuring the Grumps, with some pretty unique vibes as well as some fun mechanics.
It was a bit laggy at times and sometimes you had some situations that were impossible to get out of, but all in all it was a fun game.
However the keyword is: WAS. This is Abandonware, and is not in a playable state of any kind as of the time of writing this review.
This is not playable anymore. No possibility of making your own servers or playing with personal lobbies. No LAN version was released. And this is STILL requesting money, while the game is not in a playable state of any kind and thus unable to deliver the content promised in a usable state.
So, as a fan of the Grumps, it makes me really sad to do so, but I will report this game as "Abandonware" for now, and hope, that one day, the community can get this game running once again, as this was, again, a genuinely fun casual experience to play with friends. And I urge you to report it as well for now, until an official version is properly playable. It not being playable and still requesting money is something that shouldn't happen in any circumstances on Steam.

Abandonware. A foreboding sign for Game Grumps as a publisher, especially for multiplayer games.
Game itself was alright. Had this weird meta thing where IRL YouTube videos claimed this was a lost game from the SNES era that would let you play online. It was cheesy and obviously fake, but a fun teaser. In reality this is just a battle royale clone with no other design premise other than "what if we tried a twist to a successful formula?" Pretty unsurprisingly it was confusing, unsatisfying and just felt like it was something that you participated in and not a skill learned or an experience gained. Like the execution and concept were both trying to lead a horseless carriage. Or like seasoning and deep frying a packing peanut. Unfortunately can't replay to verify how this has aged. But let's be real, this selling point was always going to be the initial intrigue over what a multiplayer game grumps funded game would look like. Everything else was just going to be inside jokes, references and the inevitable monetization of their fans. 3/10

Hasn't been playable for almost a year now. Should've gotten a LAN mode to make it playable in some form unless the community makes their own servers...
If you're looking to get your Battle Royale fix through this game, I would recommend you play Fortnite or PUBG instead, because as fun as this game is (or should I say 'was'), support for Soviet Jump Game was silently discontinued just a little over a year after release (There was no official EOS notice, it simply fails to load after something in the servers broke in August of 2021). I figure this is Iron Curtains for SJG, as the publisher is occasionally known for their cheap (and sometimes even harmful) cash-grabs, even outside of Steam, while delivering very little in return for one's dedication and money, and then high-tailing it as soon as it's no longer profitable.
To the developer(s) at Fantastic Passion, as much as I enjoyed what little of your work there was, if you can't afford, can't be bothered, or are otherwise unable to maintain game servers for an extended period of time, then don't make a game that relies so heavily on them, especially when players can just pick it up for free. Seriously.
I'm glad I didn't spend any money on this game, but I feel bad for those who did in its one-year lifespan, and I do kinda miss playing this Battle Royale-styled platformer, as much as I sucked at it.

I don't leave reviews often but I must say this game brought me a great deal of joy. People may say it's a niche game. People may say that its release was poor timing in a sea of BR.
The gameplay was simple and fun. Like a BR Mario Bros. I guess I was one of the 5 people that could appreciate the love that went into this game. To me this was the most fun BR I've played. Fortnite and PUBG had larger teams and a longer development timeline. But this game was cut and simple, no crazy additions, no outrageous balancing, no uninteresting beat to death mechanics. They also didn't need to reinvent the wheel to show players that games like this are fun. Who knows maybe games like this will have a resurgance.
Unfortunately this game lies in the same fate as the original, Abandoned by its owners, forgotten, and unusable, it doesn't have to be this way, GAME GRUMPS COME FIX YOUR GAME!
Seriously, even PUBG started pushing in bots into its servers to fill the gap as to not compromise game play ability, Darkwind War on Wheels is alive and thriving with a community less than 50 strong, you mean to tell me with THEIR very committed fanbase they cant keep a retro gem alive? Make it make sense...
This game does not work and I spent at least 10 minutes panicking trying to exit the "authenticating" page but eventually got it to leave the game. This game perfectly reflects modern Game Grumps: old, unfunny and dead.

I got this game around its initial release, but my internet quality was awful and I was unable to properly enjoy it. By the time my internet improved, I couldn't find any lobbies, and I kept forgetting the game existed so I could try again. I just tried it again just now, since I have confirmed this game still has many people wanting to play it...but sadly, it won't stop authenticating.
This game was very unique, the only 2D platformer battle royale on the market as far as I am aware. I wanted so badly to play it.
Please fix this game. Please bring it back. Please!

its like mario battle royale extremely cool concept... but it doesn't get updates anymore. that means that theres not many people playing it, meaning that these days its just full of bots, which makes it way too easy. back in the day this was the stuff man. if you could get like a big group of friends to play this with you or like if you were a streamer playing this with fans i would see it as pretty fun. as it stands where it is right now though, its just too easy to be that fun, its like taking candy from a baby
While the few memories I have of this game are good, the game is just abandonware.
Before I played Soviet Jump Game i had a small wee wee, no friends, no boyfriend, depression and absolutely no will to live. None of these things have changed, but the game is pretty bad.

I didnt know what i was supposed to do, some places of the map disappear and there is so many pipes to go into. Probably really fun if you know whats going on, but as a new player its just a huge mess. Not beginner friendly at all
Also matchmaking took a little too much time. Not a big deal, but something to improve upon

Reader, here lies one of the most fun and inventive games you will never get to play. I mourn not only for it, but for you, for you will never get to play it. It was an incredibly imaginative application of the now largely played-out "battle royale" format. Extremely fun, frenetic, pick-up-and-play, with short games you could fit into a coffee break. It was compulsively-playable and beginner-friendly. And it's all over. The devs have gone silent. The servers won't connect. The game is dead.

A really disappointing game that had everything going for it. The lack of updates is honestly really sad to see. I originally found this game because the Game Grumps promoted it. Cool promotion idea and the game concept itself was great and almost reminiscent of Mario 35. It was even released during the Battle Royale hype phase, where anything marketed as a Battle Royale would go flying off the shelves.
Then two years passed and nothing got added. No costumes, no new maps, no nothing. The game died after its last patch update and im honestly really sad to see it sitting in my games list, collecting dust, in what feels like an unfinished state.
This game has nothing to do its not fun at all.mapping is very poor its hard to get around i leave this game a 2.5/10

A nice, small game for any computer. Soviet Jump Game is, for me, lots of fun. For the gameplay, imagine a poorly play-tested NES Mario platformer, mixed with Fortnite. Just whenever you get to the top of the rankings, could you spare me a few potatoes?
UPDATE: I've done a little review digging, and it may be true that this game is filled with bots. Oh well, and I thought I was good! I had around a 60% win rate. It's still very fun. Don't listen to Prequalified and others, it's worth the memory.

This game is completely dead, which defeats the purpose of a battle royale. The netcode for this game sucks, so when you find one single individual who wants to play the game (amongst 48 other bots of whom's names sound like something Arin Hanson would say during an episode of game grumps) with you, the connection stability is absolutely bupped.
I found the controls very unintuitive right off the bat. There is also no one playing multiplayer, and even when they are, the lag is horrendous, so the game is unplayable. Very clunky, would not recommend.

Map is too big, optimal strategy is to get to the top of the screen to jump on people but then you can't see your guy or theirs, overall just kinda lame.

Due to poor marketing, this game was DOA. Which stinks, because it's quite fun.
I have to assume I'm playing against bots, because steamdb says that I was the only player online but 40 player lobbies still exist. It would explain why I keep winning...

This game type of 2D Platformer Battle Royale needs more games like this one, but with devs that stick with it and don't abandon it as a "finished" product.

This is how you do a Mario Battle Royale (looking at you Mario 35!! >.>)! Though buggy I feel like it adds to the charms and the stakes of the game because it makes things more exciting trying to get the game to turn in your favor! Not to mention the game's stylized choice of being a glitchy pixelated version of Soviet Russia also makes some of the buggy or laggy parts of it feel more in universe! The power ups for the most part (Box Disguise is so useless lol) are pretty balanced with nice trade offs that don't make them feel to unfair (Example: Tank having pretty noticeable recoil, Hammer stopping after hitting a floor or hard tile, Baseball having serious knockback potential but not doing damage, etc.) This game is really underrated and even though it's flawed it's a fun experience altogether! (Not to mention it's free so no excuse to not give it a try!)

This was my first game on steam and I remember it quite fondly. It is a 2D side scrolling battle royale game with a super mario bros twist to the formula. It holds a humorous charm in its russian styled artistic choice. You jump upon your opponents' heads and pick up power up items to hurl at your opponents during the course of the match until only one remains. A simple yet very fun concept to toy around with, and better yet, it is also free.
