Storyline

Androids may dream of electric sheep,but perhaps they dream of so much more. Silicon Dreams is a game of conversation and interrogation; trust and betrayal. It’s the future. Everyone has an android: a realistic robot servant. But what happens when those servants disobey, or become a bit too independent? It’s your job to interview those malfunctioning androids and decide what to do with them. You’ll gain their trust, learn their secrets and come to understand their lives - their struggles in a world that treats them as devices to be consumed. You’ll analyze and manipulate their emotions to get at the truth. For these androids, the stakes are huge: the report you file could be the difference between freedom and getting shut down. But you’re at risk too: your employer does not tolerate mistakes. Will you sell out these free-thinking androids, or feed your bosses false information to try and save them?

I'm of mixed opinion about this game. It was interesting and I got to a ending. But on trying to replay it a couple of times, I couldn't get the opposite ending. I think the problem is that too many things are initiated by requiring a certain amount of time pass in certain interrogations. This means that if you are replaying and don't need to re-read everything you just read, you just have to leave the game sitting there doing nothing in every interrogation for a while to make sure you don't miss events. This makes the game extremely frustrating to try and replay. So I never reached the ending I wanted.

I thought the writing was well done, and I found the story interesting. Took about 4 hrs for one playthrough. This game should have some replayability, since there's at least major plot fork, and it looks like there are several minor forks based on the end of scene flowcharts and the achievement list. The theme of 'android rights' is appropo to current/near future ethics discourse, and the game doesn't really force a viewpoint.
