I don't recommend this one, there are many other HOGs that are far better than this one. Skip this one unless you want to add it to your collection of HOGs.
The game is decent with shortfalls but doesn't deserve an overall negative review. The goth girlfriend is a big draw in but you barely get to see her through the game which was a bit disappointing along with the monsters that you only see for a few seconds each. Puzzles were sometimes confusing or had some weird logic. The silhouette mini games were actually kinda cool/different and the chapters all had a different unique location which was nice. Overall I like the plot of being stuck in a movie, the voice acting can be fun in a bad way, and the villain(and his sidekick Gravy) was cool.
Despite bad story it's a good game.

Truly mediocre. Clunky and unintuitive, a lot of empty space and repetitive play, and the plot is barely worth mentioning.
There is really better games in the genre out there. If you can get it with a voucher, then I guess, but you can really do better.
OH MY GOD I HATE THIS GAME! Now that I have that out of the way. I've never been more pissed off to have to play a bonus chapter then this game. OK. Pros. Hackney B movie storyline. It makes sense considering the plot. Puzzles. Lots of Puzzles. Puzzles you won't find in another HOG game. Fiendishly difficult puzzles.
The cons. Glitchs. Lots of emm. You clicked on that section and it closed out. If you come back you might be able to click on it again. There will be nothing there of course. You'll just waste your time thinking you missed something. The clicking on the thing basic gameplay of any of these types of games is a little wonky. So be prepared for that. Crap map. Only shows the basic areas. NOT the parts of them. Not a huge hassel but a bit annoying. Lastly. THE #@R$@#@#$ PUZZLES. Some of them are really good and make sense. SOME. Others? Well I hope you like randomly clicking on things with other things cause that's what your doing for half this game. Need to get rid of a wall? Welp I better use my @#%$@#$@#$ Pirana on a stick to get rid of it. I couldn't make that up if I tried. It would almost be a good game if it wern't for the glitches and puzzles. Also it's not really a HOG. It more puzzles then HOG honestly. I honestly wish this was better but it's not. DO NOT BUY. If you get it for free or in a bundle, fine. But don't get this game for itself. It's not worth it.
I really liked this game. Finished in a few hours, but it was fun.
Classic HOS game, but for one thing : silhouette HOS .. they look like HOS but you actually end up manipulating objects forward and backward, moving them from left to right.. untill they fit the perfect shape to a certain angle. I found these quickly boring. Some achievements will require you to accomplish them under a minute.
As most games of the genre, the story isn't ambitious but it gets the job done, driving you from many nice and somewhat easy puzzles to few classic HO scenes and some silhouette HO thingy.
I still recommend it, especially if on sales.
One big pro : The more or less chip music of the retro arcade video game "Flap for Life" (a game in the game) with many chip sounds of 8-bit music. That was a good and enjoying surprise!
After playing for 3 hours with no problems it now soes not show the entire picture, especially the bottom which I need,
This game should come with a medical warning. It's a 99 cent acid trip with a significant chance of a brain damaging freak out.
It was so nonsensical, my jaw dropped several times when I finally figured out the next random sequence of object interactions that drove the "plot" forward. At first, this was frustrating, but then it got funny - really funny - laugh out loud funny as the game moved on (the use for the piranha wins the prize for absurdity). I have completed the game and its bizarre epilogue, and I still have no idea what was going on. I've got to believe this was intentional. It's as if the developers took the half-baked ideas and glaring plot holes from a dozen different low budget Sci-Fi movies and used a random number generator to assign them a position in the game's "script". This isn't merely a language translation problem (though there were several of these throughout the game) this is total lack of pyschological coherence problem, and it is (intentionally?/unintentionally?) hilarious like an Ed Wood movie.
I am recommending the game only to people who have read the above description of my playthrough and thought - "I've got to see this fever dream." If you read the description and had any other reaction, I do not recommend this game.
For the price, I shouldn't expect much of a "HOG" game (especially one that offers achievements). That being said, the game was done pretty well for $1. However, it should be noted that as a HOG game, there aren’t many HOG scenes. I was actually losing hope of seeing a HOG scene until I got to Chapter four and saw my first one. The story also seemed a bit lacking to me, although I did like the idea of it.
About the game, it was nice to see different kinds of puzzles in games like this one. However, it got old quick. After a while, it was a bit annoying to have to shift items to fit a shadow to be able to use them. Some of the puzzles were done a bit oddly, like a safe puzzle where you can't actually turn the dial. I don't like having to click constantly to finish a puzzle that should have taken three seconds to complete. Another puzzle that I thought was done very oddly was a tangram puzzle that had to have the pieces placed in an exact place, even though the another same size piece would have completed it.
Overall, for a dollar HOG game, it’s not bad. On top of that, it has achievements. However, my biggest issues with the game are the puzzles themselves. If a HOG is going to have nonHOG puzzles, then they need to be executed better. I don’t like the redundancy of the shadow puzzles either (halfway through the game, I was done with them).
If you’re not an achievement hunter or a diehard fan of HOGs, I would definitely pass on this (even if it’s only $1). Personally, I did not like this game.
Play it, only when you are isolated, bored and there is not any other possibility how to spend time plus price is less than 0.49 Eur.
Hidden Objects.
Komplette Fehlanzeige.
Alles in Allem: Absolut nicht empfehlenswertes Spiel
jeu compliqué uniquement en anglais, dommage.
After huge initial troubles (more on that in the next paragraph) the game started working and is actually quite enjoyable.
My initial troubles: It froze my system multiple times, even after reinstalling. And the controls wouldn't respond. Only after I deleted the game entirely with the help of external tools, it started working. The framerate keeps to skyrocket for no apparent reason and there is now way to fix it.
For the price I got it (1$) the game has much to offer. The advertised new shape mechanic is incorporated very often in the game.
Great game I liked so much
+ good line
+ good art
+ good graphics
- scary sceleton
Showing Tonight: Mindhunter’s Incident, developed by Phime Studio, is a point-and-click, adventure puzzle game with a hint of Hidden Object scenarios. After first viewing the trailer, screen shots and the store page summary, I came in with some high expectations. I was hoping for a fun, creepy adventure in my very own B-Horror film. Instead, what I got was a gimmicky puzzle system, horribly rendered cut scenes, an unexplained, unfulfilled and poorly-told story, and a complete lack of Hidden Object sections.
You play as Nate, an avid movie-goer who’s become somewhat obsessed with a new film, “Someone Ate My Clapper.” In fact, he’s seen it so many times that the clerk knows his name, and hands him the ticket without needing to ask. Once in the theatre, Nate falls asleep. He awakes just moments later, but not in his local cinema. Rather, he finds himself inside the movie. With the help of Gabriella, a character in the film, Nate must… actually; I can’t really explain the rest of this story. Because everything from here on out makes no sense. Nothing is explained, nothing is clarified, and nothing is elaborated upon. You’re either running about, completing random objectives without rhyme or reason, or you’re struggling to fathom how some of these puzzles made any sense.
But first, I want to start with some positive notes regarding Mindhunter’s Incident. The art work is fairly well done. It’s got the detail, depth and color to really shine. The game’s concept is also great. It may lose its charm a few minutes in, but I really like the idea of getting sucked into a movie and solving its mysteries. Also, some of the puzzles are decent and fun. Not all of them, but some.
Sadly, that’s all I found enjoyable about Mindhunter’s incident. And it’s a real shame, too, since I had such high expectations. But as far as cons go, there are plenty. Something I really must address is the Hidden Object sections. There are only three of them in this game. Three Hidden Object sections. That’s it. I thought I had missed some along the way, but that wasn’t the case. The game was so lazy that it repeated all three of them in the final stage. Did they not have the time to make more than three? Seriously?
Instead, you get a multitude of these “silhouette puzzles.” They’re simple, rotate certain objects to fit a certain position, and that’s it. These were a nice surprise at first, but it isn’t long before they start cropping up everywhere. There must be at least twenty of these, and they all follow the same formula. Why would the devs devote so much time to these repetitive puzzles, rather than implement more Hidden Object sections? It just baffles me.
Voice acting is awful, but I can’t necessarily call that a con. The game does take place in a B-Horror movie, after all. Honestly, I thought the bad acting was a welcomed addition. What I didn’t find welcoming, however, were the cutscenes. They’re all horribly rendered and look like crap compared to everything else. Not only that, but they’re accompanied by some of the worst animation I’ve seen in a long time. Characters heads bounce around in a laughable manner, everyone’s movement is awkward and stilted, and don’t get me started on the lip syncing. It just looks bad, end of story.
Some of these puzzles are alright, but most boil down to finding an item, walking to a certain location, using that item, and then venturing out to do it all over again. They aren’t rewarding, nor are they fun. And that’s the key word, here. “Fun.” Mindhunter’s Incident just wasn’t fun. Instead, it was frustrating, tear-jerking-ly boring, and confusing. There are so many great point and click adventure games on Steam, and this most certainly is not one of them.
Very interesting looking hidden object game, although it isn't typicall for the genre.
The graphics and sounds are solid. The story is based around b-production horror movies, therefore the plot itself is a bit bizzare.
I like the silhouette mode, keeps you busy, and overall, this game, in terms of puzzles and challenges, wil make you think. Very few things "just to click on".
Some of the things considering gameplay and storyline could be better explained, but in a strange way, it suits the theme of the game.
This game was a little too glitchy for me. Some puzzles would get completely stuck and would not work properly unless I rebooted the game. In one case an object in a scene was invisible until I restarted. And, even though I played the game three times to make sure, one achievement which should have been unlocked never was.
I am a huge HOG fan but this game was not a very good one. It was the first time I actually requested a refund for a hog game. The voice overs are terrible and the graphics are pixelated on wide screen. Also for me it's just not a fun game with a good story line. I don't recommend this game despite the other flood of positive reviews but try it for yourself and see if you want to take the chance. I did give it a fair half hour gameplay to see if it would get better but by part two I could not take anymore.
