Also ich möchte erstmal was klar stellen das Movement kommt aus dem Himmel das so gut ich persönlich würde es direkt kaufen wenns on sail ist aber es ist jetzt nicht so was wo 1000sende an Stunden drinn versinken kann aber wenn mann bock hat nen Indie Dev zu untersützen und ein super gutes Spiel zu spielen kauft es .
the hp system is odd
the gimmicks are unintuitive, picking up weapons with the spacebar barely functions and is impossible to do when in combat, chains, pitons, and ropes feel way to hard to grab.
came back after a while of not playing and struggled to navigate even just the lobby, trying to figure out how to get to the new levels while also not being skilled enough from roughly a year of not playing the game led to constantly dying and not understanding what happened.
the saws found in the "obsession" area being able to kill you instantly without putting you in the "harmed" state was just frustrating as even though I'm perfectly fine trying to bounce on them to redirect them their way to fast and kill you to quickly for it to be useful. also there where enemies that just couldn't be hurt because of (and I'm just assuming) they had a little border thing to tell me their invincible but because I haven't played the game in so long I have no idea how to get rid of that effect without using the saws but because of issues I just stated that's not easy to do. I could go back to earlier levels to relearn these gimmicks but because of the aforementioned terrible lobby I don't know where those earlier levels are or how to get to them. another thing on the lobby is that hitting the water is guaranteed death, but you don't have ANY air control so if you miss a rope, piton, or chain you just have to watch as you hit the water and die with no way to even pretend you can maneuver back to safety so getting around the lobby just feels like trial and error without solid feedback. I would love to love this game but it just feels like it's spitting in my face every time I mess up and the gimmicks aren't understandable enough for me to learn from my failures, which leads to them not feeling like failures, and instead feeling like insults.

Yeah, this is probably the best sword game ever. It's essentially the style meter of DMC with some of the mechanics of Arkane's golden age (namely Dishonored and Dark Messiah) + parkour fun. The interesting design choice of this game is that all of the techniques aren't locked behind a skill tree, but rather are available from the first level of the game. Up until the final boss, the whole game functions as one big tutorial level, where abilities are hinted about through text boxes. One notable flaw of the game might be that it lacks ambition. Every level looks the same, and the campaign is 5 hours. That being said, I would rather have a polished, finished 5-hour campaign than a buggy 10-hour poopshow.

This game really has a lot to be proud of.
The ambiance, the style, the art, the artistic direction as a whole is really well handled, reminds me of an old game called revenge of the titans a bit, I really like the whole back and red aspect of the game itself, how green, the protagonist's color contrasts with all this through the chain and various elements you can use but not the enemies.
The gameplay itself also does a lot right, the combat is snappy, rewarding and in my opinion not too hard to get good enough at to flow trough the levels in a satisfying and impressive way.
There are some trickier levels that slowed down my progression a bit, but I think trying to lock in a specific path from start to finish will naturally make things harder so that might be on me.
I do have a little gripe with the chain, as it could I think come out a bit faster so that catching yourself while falling would be a bit easier and catching enemies at ledge when getting thrown out would be more possible, but the chain itself is such a wonderful mechanic I'm honestly not even mad.
When I first tried the prototype for this game on itch.io I was pumped to see it one day fully released, safe to say I'm not disappointed at all.

Really enjoying the game. Movement is crazy interesting, there's so much you can do with it. Highly recommend if you enjoy parkour style speed games (like Cloudbuilt or Mirror's Edge).
I haven't played very much of this game yet, but the combat is extremely fun! The mechanics are taught in an understandable way, and the combat/parkour is so badass.

Awesome game I would say it's worth it mainly because of how the pvp and art is, it's so peak great job devs. And it's very chaotic.

Cheap game and fun, but finished the entire thing in less than two hours.
If you're someone who likes to 100% a game and get perfect scores on all levels, you will be able to put more time into this and hopefully get your money's worth.
But for someone casual looking to complete a game with out perfecting every level, this is a waste of money. Very dissapointed when i realized i had completed the game when it felt like the game was only beginning.

shady knight is incredible fun even my one problem with the game are some of the levels are to tedious because some of the later enemies leave only a small margin for mistakes in a game that is very punishing of mistakes(I do not have a problem with the game being punishing of mistakes and I like how they do it but it gets a little annoying in the later game if your a player that only goes for sss I would still highly highly recommend this game DO NOT miss out on this masterpiece) cool theme, nice colors, a interesting but slightly confusing story, settings, and incredibly fun weapons and many other factor makes this one of the best games I have played recently. P.S: the later levels are still really fun.
This game has the coolest freakin' combat of any game I've ever played. There's so much room for creativity, I feel like I could sit in a practice map and get better and better almost without limit. Kind of reminds me of the feeling I got from playing Super Smash Brothers- like the game is so deep that the only thing holding you back is you.
I love the clanging of the sword hits, how the lightning-fast strikes and parries, the slow-motion that kicks in during certain instances- it's all so satisfying! My only criticism is that I wish it had a banger soundtrack to pump me up. That would be the cherry on top! While the soundtrack fits the otherworldly setting, it is pretty reserved. Meanwhile, the gameplay makes me want to rip and tear til it's done!
All-in-all, I wish I could give this game more exposure. The systems in it are so elegant and the combat so BA, I have to give it a chef's kiss. I just wish more people would find and enjoy this amazing game!

the movement and combat is so satisfying, plus the insane amount of niche mechanics that could save you in a run.
the immersion is also amazing, the ost is a banger and the visuals are so good. i play with low graphics and it still looks like a museum painting.
the only major downside is the amount of people actually talking about this game. if you search up "Shady Knight" the only thing you're gonna find is the official steam page and some reeddit reviews from over a year ago. the developer has been working on this game since 2019, and the effort really shows. i really hope that this game gets the attention it deserves in the future

this game is really good; but horrible at teaching you how to play, the inbuilt tutorials offer no key inputs and uses all kinds of terms while never explaining them in the first place.

I first played the demo many years ago, but it was worth the wait!
Very fun game to play. Combat feels rewarding and the movement is not gimicky. the combat formula continuously evolves on itself as you progress and manifests in a way that gives you so much freedom to approach any situation. My only gripe is that game isn't longer! 100% worth the $10-$15 .

If you are reading this that means you aren't playing the game which is a problem because you could be wall kicking into bow shot into bow throw into weapon switch into sword slam into parry into sword toss in to slide kick into weapon stomp into headstomp into ANOTHER sword slam into triple combo into dagger whip the aerial enemy down into weapon dash to the spear into spear pogo into spear thrust into- aaaaaand a spider ruins your combo... hell yeah time for round two!
forgot how good this game was after completing it, came back a long long time later and am still amazed by how incredible it feels once you get the hang of it. it's like if grimhook and titanfall had a hack and slash lovechild and it's the most incredible thing.
Satisfying
Shady Knight is a fast, fun, and flowey game. It has a good soundtrack, but I honestly listen to Spotify while playing so that doesn't matter that much to me. It has a few moments that feel a little clunky, grammatical errors in the menus, and a somewhat finicky mechanism for logging your discovered combos. It also never told you about one or two of the weapons like it does the ones in the beginning. $20 feels a tad steep, but overall this game is worth a play. The only major downside is that the game isn't that long and it doesn't feel as replayable as I originally thought it would. I hope new levels get added in the future.

Крутой гиперактивный слэшер-платформер. В этой игре множество механик (к примеру, можно кинуть бочку вверх и притянуться к ней крюком, чтоб сделать более высокий прыжок). Есть некоторая схожесть с DOOM Eternal, но в Shady Knight платформинг проработан просто шикарно. Можно даже пройти игру в роли пацифиста, никого не убивая самому (кроме финального босса). Чистый кайф.

This is more of a neutral recommendation. This is a good game, but having played this after playing I Am Your Beast, Blood Thief, and Lovely Planet. The originality of this game does not make up for the weak level design, poor in-fight indicators, terrible visual clarity (primarily a contrast issue for folks with visual issues like myself), and several design choices that punish moving fast. I was regularly getting S rank or higher, but I think I Am Your Beast and Blood Thief spoiled my expectations on level design these fast paced first person games should have. You should still try it though! The physics combat is a joy (and worth playing the game for), but the skill floor for the parkour is quite high, and you won't get much fun out of it without putting effort. It also seems to be getting a level editor soon so I might revisit my review then
There is also some cleverly designed advancement movement mechanics, and watching folks play this game at a high level is a treat.
I have never given a bad review for a game on Steam before.

Worth the purchase after spending 10 hours in the demo and 17 in the full game i can confidently say the gameplay and soundtrack are the absolute peak of style, the game also started to beat my ass the moment i started getting too good so its pretty balanced too i guess.

(if you see a negative review complaining about lack of soundtrack its because they suck really bad, you need at least S rank to start to hear the song clearly, and SSS to actually hear the full song)

ok, so this game is good. REALLY GOOD. when you first enter the game it seems simple enough, you have a kick, a grappling hook of sorts, and you can pick up weapons and use them, BUT... then you start experimenting. you learn you can grapple barrels towards you, you can throw your sword and then use it as a dash, you can parry. the layers start revealing themself and the more you experiment the more depth the game has. its a bit difficult to explain but you can do a LOT of really cool things with its combat and stuff. also the game has a LEVEL EDITOR. its not instantly available but you can go to the discord and get the code, ok bye

I got it as a gift, it's a decent game, but $20.00 in my opinion, it's not worth it due to having no replay value.
It's a good game with a ton of cool tech, but the amount of content is minimal and the ending feels kind of cheap and boring. It's alright to get if it's on sale, mostly just a one-time game to play if you're bored.
You can also do a lot of cool epic combos that can completely trash the enemy and gain tons of style points.
This feels like SUPERHOT weapon-play with ULTRAKILL movement minus the air-movement, leading to you falling off of the level most of the time.
Also crosshair is disabled by default for some reason??? You have to change it in the settings.
let alone moving around in this game is already addicting enough... I LOVE IT.

Really cool game. I see myself replaying it lots of times, since there are a lot of different play styles to explore.
Platforming kind of sucks, though. I think that, in general, tricky platforming and first person view just don't mesh very well. In Ghostrunner (and other similar games), it ruined an otherwise great game. This game is very forgiving with it, and that keeps it from being super tedious.
Combat is just the right blend of unique mechanics, serious challenge, weaponry, environment usage and fast pace. Enemies will give you a good run for your money, getting progressively more dangerous. There is a great variety of tools at your disposal to deal with them. A little imagination and some strategy goes a long way.
All in all, good fun. Very well done.

The game itself is fun and challanging in a satisfying way. There's nothing much to add except a level edditor with steam workshop support. Can't really understand why people complain about so called flow issues. Im not sure if its intended or not but the only issue i found is that there's no soundtrack, and artstyle seems a bit too dull. But thats a problem to solve for future games. Right now this game provides a good core gameplay and that's it, the final boss even felt a bit disappointing in how easy it can be beaten.

It sucks to say the game still feels like an early access game. The art style looks unfinished rather than "simple". It's quiet in a way that feels like something is missing from the soundscape. The gameplay is fine but everything surrounding it just brings it down and makes it feel like a demo for some larger project.

A fun time!
Similar to DOOM in the way that it forces you to play in a way that is fun, or you will not win. I enjoyed every minute, and although this game is difficult, it's not unfair. Every death feels like your own fault. 8/10, I just wish the main campaign had more variety in its levels.
