Shadows: Awakening, developed by Games Farm and published by Kalypso Media, is an isometric action RPG that sets itself apart with an unusual premise and a mechanical twist that tries to push beyond the genre’s usual boundaries. Instead of placing the player in the role of a traditional hero, the game casts you as the Devourer, a demon capable of consuming the souls of fallen individuals and using them as vessels. This narrative framing immediately gives the experience a darker, more morally ambiguous tone, as the story unfolds through the perspective of a being that exists somewhere between manipulator and reluctant participant in a larger conflict.
The defining feature of the game is its dual-realm system, which allows players to shift between the shadow world and the mortal plane at will. This game made me realise that when I play a mediocre game, I should accept I'm not really enjoying it and move on, instead of painfully trying to complete the game at the expense of my limited personal time.

An entertaining hack and slash game with decent graphics, immersive music, a mixture of puzzles, interesting lore and skill customization. It is entertaining especially at it's price.
I became interested in this game because of its predecessor, Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition, a good 2004 title that features interesting mechanics, beautiful environments for its time, and a narrative with many positive points. I was disappointed to realize that Shadows: Awakening makes several mistakes in narratively succeeding its predecessor, especially by using retcons or completely neglecting old conflicts and motivations—particularly those of the Order of the Veil, the mage order at the center of the franchise’s story. In the paragraphs below, I explain some of these issues.
Several interesting characters were neglected or completely forgotten, such as High Magus Sollan, the former leader of the Order of the Veil, who doesn’t even appear in this game. Carissa, who in the first game is a mage and Sollan’s lover, was turned into a warrior mage who doesn’t even mention Sollan. Even Carissa’s personality is no longer the same.
The important protagonist Alita from the first game is only mentioned in books and has no participation in the game, despite having been a key figure in the destruction of the God Slayer sword in the first title. Alita is now treated as if she doesn’t exist.
The game’s rich world lore was not delivered in a satisfying way; some events from Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition do echo in this sequel’s narrative, but in very strange ways—such as the case of the Accession Wars, the conflict between humans and Taymurians. It makes no sense for this war to exist. In the first game, we help a group of Taymurian refugees be accepted into the human city of Corwenth, but in the time between the two games, the Taymurians’ Conclave of Tribes demands the refugees’ return and claims the territory for themselves for no reason other than simply wanting it. This creates a conflict between the two peoples, with consequences poorly portrayed in the second game. The worst part: this story isn’t even told during gameplay, but only through books you find—a terrible way to explore the game’s universe.
Among many other narrative problems, the plot is the main one. At no point is it satisfactorily explained why demons are acting and influencing the Order of the Veil. Of course, with the destruction of the God Slayer sword in the first game and the weakening of the Dreamworld, which becomes the Shadowrealm, one might assume demons began to infiltrate the world of the Heretic Kingdoms. But how did they manage to possess Lady Mara and the other powerful members of the Penta Nera? Why are these Devourers acting to bring about the world’s destruction? Who is behind all of this? Why is Krenze opposing them? What are his real motives? None of this is contextualized in the game. Events simply happen without much explanation, several plot threads from the first game are abandoned, and the ending of this game fails to bring the narrative together in an orderly way.
I truly don’t understand the reason for inserting new narrative elements into the universe, such as the Devourer and the Shadowrealm, when the original lore still had many aspects that could have been further developed.
However, the narrative issue that bothered me the most was the lack of deeper exploration of each of the game’s Puppets (selectable heroes). This is the game’s highlight, since the player can choose to control various interesting characters. The aesthetic, cultural, and historical variation between them is extremely cool, but all of that remains only on the surface. It’s as if the player captures important historical figures, but none of their personal conflicts are actually explored; they serve only as hero skins in the game—except for one or another hero whose past is touched upon, but even then it’s not satisfying.
Despite everything, the game is good. It’s fun and bold enough to try innovating with the mechanic of switching heroes during battle. What motivated me most in terms of gameplay was the search to discover all the heroes available to collect. The different combinations between classes, their spells, and stats also allow for good gameplay variety.
As an Action RPG, the game is average. Many features were poorly implemented, such as the equipment grind, which was not done correctly. There is no randomness in item drops, for example. Also, when playing on the highest difficulty level, I noticed that legendary items were found constantly, as if they were common items.
Shadows: Awakening is a game worth playing, especially if the player has already finished Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition. Just don’t expect too much.
Не могу сказать что меня эта игра хоть чем зацепила или впечатлила. Боёвка слишком топорная, не каких тебе парировании и уклонении как это было в том же darksiders genesis, где над боевой системой хоть сколько то поработали и уделили ей внимание (а боёвка в таком жанре (имхо) это самое главное) . Да что уж говорить, тут даже не добавили камеру на правый стик чтобы можно было управлять направлением для стрельбы или для выбора противника. Из плюсов могу отметить только приятная картинка и не плохой звук . От куда столько положительных отзывов я одного не пойму. Свою цену в 1700 рублей она ну не как не оправдывает. Брал ключом за 200 рублей на другой площадке, но даже этих денег по мне она не стоит. Крайне не рекомендую. За эту сумму в 1700 рублей можно всю серию darksiders купить и получить реальные эмоции и удовольствие от геймплея, от очередной победы над боссом да и от прохождения игры в целом.

Sadly, this game's idea of a puzzle is beyond sad. I had one just completely break and softlock and the main story quest tells you to "control your anger" by killing yourself.

Good diablo-like ARPG with interesting Demon-Puppets mechanic and world switching to solve puzzles, fight enemies, etc. Shadows also has a good story with several endings and a lot of side quests.

Graficznie nic sie nie zmieniło w chili premiery gra nie zachwycała ale nie odpychała a po latach przyjęta forma dobrze się zestarzała, mechanicznie zmieniono zarządzanie i drzewko rozwoju to plus, niestety nie wyeliminowano wielu wad oryginału - drobnych bugów, awarii gry, czy monotonnych i długich pustych po wyczyszczeniu z potworów lokacji. brakuje na wielu mapach dodatkowych portali które by skracały drogę przez samą mapę, obecna ilość jest zbyt mała (1 czy 2 na mapę). zarzadzanie regeneracją zdrowia też nie najlepiej rozwiązano - można poświecić zgromadzone dusze by sie uleczyć lub wrócić do krysztąłu regenerującego przed walką z większym przeciwnikiem szkoda dusz wiec wleczesz sie przez pół albo cała plansze do kryształu a potem z powrotem. W w porównaniu do pierwowzoru na minus -że zabrakło polskiej wersji językowej chociażby w formie napisów. Fabularnie gra też nie robi to szału, sztampa goni sztampę. Ekwipunek często lepszy niż u sprzedawcy wypadał z przeciwników i skrzyń; może nie był cudem ale tańszy :) Zagadki logiczne które się pojawiają są nie tyle trudno co często irytujące w realizacji szczególnie te związane z przestawieniem kul w odpowiednim rytmie lub miejscu. Gdzieś tak od połowy bardziej wlokłem się ziewając z nudów i wypatrując końca niż zafascynowany rozgrywką czy fabułą.

auch sonst viel zu viele Hebel und Mechaniken. Wie so soft bei dieser Art von Spielen zu viel Loot! Wer soll das nur immer verwalten und vergleichen!? Das Pumpenrätsel gibt hier den Ausschlag, wenn ihr uns ärgern wollt, dass können wir auch.

Эта история длинна и полна загадок. Иногда тебе будет казаться, что загадок слишком много, а бои могли бы быть стремительнее. Но возможность быть одновременно и героем, и монстром — это искушение, перед которым невозможно устоять.

Может игра и неплоха, но... Под завязку напичкана самым противным, что бывает в ролевых играх - головоломками. В середине игры линия сюжет вообще теряется, хотя и до этого она была весьма слабая, и остаются сплошные головоломки. Любителям головоломок рекомендую. Остальным - нет.

In dem Spiel hat man nicht nur einen Avatar sondern kann
zwischen mehreren per Tastendruck wechseln. Anfänglich ein
ganz neues Spielkonzept, was Lust auf mehr macht.
Obwohl das Spielprinzip als RPG genau mein Game ist, habe
ich nach knapp 19h keine Lust mehr. Ich nutze bei den
Pro und Kontras nicht die Bezeichnungen aus dem Game um keine
Spoiler zu hinterlassen.
Positives:
+ ganz neues Konzept für die Party, statt mehreren gleichzeitig,
wählt man zwischen den Mitgliedern per Tastendruck aus und wechselt
spontan und (fast) jederzeit hin und her.
+ Die Spielwelt (Map) ändert sich mit dem Avatar, den man gerade
spielt, physische Charaketere vs. Geister (kann schweben).
Negatives:
- Man kann NICHT rennen und die laufen unfassbar langsam (!)
- Die Questmarker stimmen nicht oder fehlen gänzlich. Aktuell bin ich
in einer Quest bei der in Sonnensteine brauche. Habe mich nur bis zur
untersten Ebene durchgekämpft, und dann geht's nicht mehr weiter. Ich
habe nur 3 von 4 Sonnensteinen, aber man kann bereits die Quest starten
und in den Dungeon runter. Im Prinzip ist das kein Problem, aber WOOOOO
ist der 4. Stein??? Der befindet sich auf einer ganz anderen Karte, nicht
im Dungon selbst und es gibt KEIN Hinweis im Questlog dafür. Würde bedeuten,
alle anderen vorherigen Karten abzusuchen (und das mit unterschiedlichen Charaketern,
weil sich die Map ja ändert!! und manche interagierbare Kisten, Gems etc.
mit anderen Charaketeren nicht sichtbar sind. Zusammen mit dem langsamen
laufen geht's eindeutig auf die Nerven und nun reichts.
- Im Inventar sieht man immer nur EINE Chategorie gleichzeitig,
z.B. nur Waffen, nur Rüstung, nur Helme, nur Ringe etc. Nicht jedes
Teil (Waffe, Rüstung, Gürtel etc.) sind für jeden Charaketer nutzbar
und bei derzeit 8 Charaketeren ist es echt eine elendige Rumklickerei
um z.B. andere Charaketere mit besseren Items auszurüsten.
- Obwohl ich in Kapitel 4 bin, sind andere Quests aus Kapitel 2/3 offen
und man muss auch zwischen den Kapitel hin- und her springen. Aber
wozu dann die Kapitel?
- Je mehr Charaketere desto mehr wird es zu einer endlosen "rumklickerei" im Inventar.
Fazit:
Tolles Konzept, aber nicht wirklich bis zu Ende gedacht. Leider fesselt micht
das Spiel nicht mehr als 19 Stunden.
Grafik ist ok. Aber welcher Vollidiot hat sich das mit der Kugel und denn Drei Hebel mit denn Platten. Durchgefallen, fing gut an das Game aber jetzt nach 50 versuchen das Hindernis hin zu Bekommen. Ich gebe auf. Der Character Eiert und Taumelt sich was zurecht. Auch keine Kamerawinkel Veränderung möglich. Schade ein Game was man nicht weiterspielen kann wegen so ein Blöden Hindernis oder weil man ewig Schlüssel Braucht für Irgendwelche Tore. Das Game muss reichlich Überarbeitet werden um ein Gutes Game zu werden.

Criminally underrated hidden gem.
Slow to start but shines later on.
Wohl das Einzige Hack'n Slay das ich je durchgespielt habe und hat sogar etwas Wiederspielwert, da man immer wieder vor der Wahl steht, welche Charaktere der Dämon den man spielt übernimmt und seinem Roster hinzufügt.

一款平庸的俯视角rpg，虽然从一些细节能看出制作组用心制作了，但游戏真的很平庸。
手感稀烂，经典各打各的。
一堆意义不明的解迷，我最讨厌的就是那个滚球的解迷，拼反应力还好，最难蚌的是机关触发要长按，手柄又要自己手动瞄准，经常是球都掉下去了才发现人物在虚空普攻没在触发机关，经历了几次之后再无游玩想法。
漫长的跑图，缓慢的移动速度，本身就是通马桶级别的叙事和任务，结果还安排了巨多又臭又长的跑图，令人忍俊不禁。
有的评论还提到了攻略问题，至少简中是没有一个完整的攻略的，虽然我是扫图玩家没遇到需要查攻略的情况，但还是提一嘴。
优点当然也是有的，凡界影界的随意切换还算有点新意，虽然样样都松但好歹能想到的都有，也能勉强说一句“麻雀虽小五脏俱全”？但反正我是不会为了这个就玩这款游戏的。
总之，不推荐游玩。

Nettes solo RPG - Wenig SkillCombos aber interessante kleine Rätsel
Shadows: Awakening is a very unexpected product, in a way. As a Diablo-clone made by a small studio, you might expect something like Grim Dawn; tons of lore and mechanical depth and equipment and build variety, in a game that, production-wise, is fairly cheap. This is generally how it goes. Instead, you get largely the opposite; the game is quite beautiful and detailed with a ton of quality voice acting (including The Doctor himself, Tom-freaking-Baker). However, it is also fairly basic as an actual game.
As I said, the game looks and sounds great. Of course it's not Red Dead Redemption 2 or anything, but for the genre, it's very detailed and vibrant, with a ton of smooth animation. The music is decent, the voice acting is great, the overall presentation is certainly better than what I expected. The game does have the occasional puzzle that, while never complex, does at least break up the "walk through hallways and kill things" gameplay loop of the sub-genre. The story is interesting, for a while. It also runs fairly well, except for surprisingly long loading times between areas.
The negatives, however, come in for the core of the game. I'm still recommending the game, it's not trash even in this area, but it's surprising basic. The first thing to understand, and this is quite unique, is that it's a Diablo-clone with a party...sort of. You have up to 4 characters to play as, swapping between them in real-time as you fight and explore. Cool. However, the result is that each character is fairly restricted; they each get 8 skills and fall into basic categories--tough warriors who engage in melee combat, archers, 2 melee fighters who focus more on speed and critical attacks, and several mages (oh, and then our main character, "the demon," who is a jack of all trades). Many skills are very strange, and feel like they were meant for a game that actually was a party-based game, doing things like weakening all enemies in an area for 10 seconds or something, which is fairly difficult to capitalize on with just one character, and really isn't superior to just using another damage-dealing skill instead. Probably half the skills in the game have questionable usefulness, yet skills are the main thing differentiating, say, one warrior from another. You get 3 warriors minimum, up to 6 possible with the DLC, yet they all feel only modestly different, and there is very little room for experimentation with them on a repeat playthrough. The only real choice is to simply use different characters, but even then, the simple system doesn't really enable many differences in how the game "feels."
Let's look at everything besides skills. Stats just raise the damage you deal, your health, and your mana, more or less. Simple. Talents are various boosts you can unlock, but most of them are just doing things like raising stats again, or directly raising damage done, or giving you defense against specific enemies or elements. All very samey. Gear? Gear is mostly just raising the attack/defense stat, and then if you're lucky, getting an extra boost here or there. However, these boosts are far too minimal; 5% ice resistance on your armor and 5% fire resistance on your helm is barely noticeable and hardly counts as real min/maxing. You will occasionally get something neat like reflect damage, causing attacks to bounce back against opponents, but even this tends to be in fairly modest amounts--you can't reasonably build a character around this as a base. All of these extras are just that, extras. Gear is also surprisingly sparse; it may not seem like it compared to other genres, but in a Diablo-clone, you expect to be wading through it. Yet there were long stretches where I had characters wearing white "common" gear for hours, because nothing better would drop OR show up in one of the game's few shops, which is almost unheard of. Interestingly, accessories like rings and necklaces, which in most games are where the most unique boosts are found, are almost entirely the most boring here; even at the end of the game, most of them just raised ONE thing for me, like 5 strength or 10 armor against "beast-type" enemies. I would say there should be a full order of magnitude more unique items in the game than there are at present.
Speaking of characters, there is a very odd and disappointing distribution in them. You will recruit quite a few but several of them are optional or semi-optional (as in, you are forced to take SOMEONE but you do get a choice as to which one). and they are basically completely silent and do nothing but fight. Yet, the choices are odd; if you do not choose to start with a mage, then there is not a single speaking mage to recruit in the entire game, ALL the other ones are just kinda there. If you don't choose the archer, then there is only one "hunter" you MIGHT recruit who speaks. But we get several fighters. Each of your three starting characters does have unique dialogue and slight variations in quests, but it's fairly minimal as well, and they get surprisingly quiet as the game goes on and other recruitable characters sort of take center stage. In short, I wish the game had fewer actual characters, but then made them more unique, with more build variety, more ways to use them. As it is, you get alot of very repetitive recruits.
And that's the biggest problem with the game; it's repetitive. This is somewhat expected with Diablo-clones but this one really drags over time. As story segments get more and more spread out, with larger and larger areas to explore and kill everything in, using the same characters and same attacks, it becomes a bore. Perhaps I could have spiced it up for myself by switching characters around more often, but even that can be hard with the limited equipment, and the differences aren't THAT pronounced. I liked the story and characters early on, but alot of stuff doesn't really get explained or it's dragged out for a LOOONG time, and by the end of the game, I was rushing to just finish the dang thing. The game is simply too long for what it offers; there is not enough story, or interesting side-quests, or fun dialogue, or unique gear, or varied builds, to fill all that time.
There is a great basis here, something I would still recommend fans of the genre play and enjoy for what it does well, but it is 100% clear that the artists and level designers were given more time and budget to go wild, while the guys writing lore, dialogue, making mechanics, crafting each piece of gear, were rushed. Heck, some gear even has a description that just says "Description of long sword" or whatever--they literally didn't finish all of the flavor dialogue, and grammatical errors are still somewhat common. I really like the presentation, I like the idea of swapping between multiple characters on the fly, the lore is the start of something interesting, but this is definitely a product that floundered in delivery. It's worth playing once, but it certainly is no Grim Dawn, much less a Diablo 2.
Game appears to be abandoned by the developers. I played the original version a while back and even gave feedback on the game, when it was in a much earlier/test state and only just got to this version after some time. I was really enthusiastic about it due to some of the ideas and themes, especially with many playable characters and even non-human characters and the setting seemed interesting.
However getting to it now in 2026 there appear to be many longstanding issues and bugs with the game. Not even more than few hours in, I already ran into issues with being able to even just progress the story of the game from glitches and bugs. So sad. I figure I would have to remake the file and try again, but then it is likely to just have issues elsewhere too as my quest items outright vanished, and the game refused to acknowledge that I was progressing the main quest and I eventually could not continue no matter what I tried.
By the way, according to discussion in the forums there are even achievements that cannot be completed at all unless you hack or modify the game.
Good Story and gameplay
Games great up to chapter 5 where they drop you off with no guide on where to go leaving you with hours of aimless wandering.

Shadows: Awakening is, at best, a decent game. For most of the playthrough, I couldn’t stand playing it for more than one or two hours a day - it was simply too exhausting. One of its biggest issues is a lack of clear identity. The game can’t decide whether it wants to be a fast-paced action game like Diablo or a slower, more traditional RPG.
The character progression system feels rather shallow. Passive skills mostly boil down to boring stat increases, while active abilities - although sometimes powerful - are visually unimpressive and not particularly satisfying to use. I pushed myself to finish the game, and honestly, I slightly regret not spending that time on a more interesting title.
That said, it wasn’t a terrible game. It had its moments, both narratively and gameplay-wise - especially toward the end of Act 1, where it actually played quite well. It’s a shame, because the core concept of a protagonist caught between two worlds was genuinely interesting. In practice, however, this mechanic mostly comes down to switching characters based on cooldowns and pulling out the demon from another dimension whenever a heavy hit is needed.
Story-wise, there’s nothing remarkable here either. It’s a fairly generic fantasy plot - collect an artifact to destroy another artifact before the bad guy does something evil.
Just bad, input from xbox controller doesnt work - solved that with Steam input - X=2 so I had double asignment on that because the other stuff doesn't work. after that anoyence gone I didn't like how slow the game feels.
PS: controler problems with controller and on steam deck also.... Where skills don't trigger but in conversations the same input works... funny thing

To Hack'n'Slash, czy już RPG? Wyjątkowa gra. Dobrze wspominam!
Shadows: Awakening was a good surprise for me.
The theme hook me in immediately. In a sea of copy-pasted uninspired games, it really made my dull brain go "Oh, wait, that's cool".
I love switching constantly between the "real" realm and the shadow realm. What's good about this design is that everything in the game revolves around that, they committed fully to it, so tactics require you to switch between characters, puzzles too, and even just moving around the map, as one realm can cross parts that the other can't (they share the same layout, just with different things on the way and I think it's great).
The characters you can unlock are very varied and unique and the environments are beautiful and clearly required a lot of work for what seems like a relatively small team.
It's a very cool idea to have to switch between characters to make combos with their abilities. You cannot rely on a single character to get through, you'll have to synergize and switch often to create combos between puppets and the demon. Shadow shields are a good idea to make you switch and use combos. Some skills are maintained when switching, allowing for very interesting and deadly passive effects when combining puppets and the devourer.
The fact that you cannot unlock all characters in one playthrough gives some replayability, although I wouldn't hold on too much on that aspect, because of course the game isn't without its flaws.
First of all, if you don't want your CPU to melt go immediately to the graphical options and change the option that says "unlimited framerate" to fixed one. As soon as I launched the game, my i9 CPU with 24 cores heated up to 90°C, that's insane for this kind of game. It stopped when I changed the framerate option.
I had the displeasure however to play it around Halloween and the game maps were riddled with immersion-breaking carved pumpkins, trees with candies and every mob was dropping candy. This destroyed so much of the world building it actually got me angry, I felt like I was playing an MMO instead of a single player game and I couldn't find an option to turn that off (it turned out there was, but only when you're in the main menu and haven't loaded any save yet).
The dialogues are serviceable at best, and there's typically an illusion of choice where you just get to pick flavors of dialogues because no matter what you choose to answer, it will always get down to the same line at the end. Sometimes, you'll even pick an answer from 3 very distinct choices, only for your character to end up saying one of the other choices you chose to ignore in just the next line.
Sometimes there's some really annoying and boring backtracking through empty levels because you killed all enemies on your way in, music is barely noticeable and maybe I just suck at this but the gap of difficulty between easy and normal was too big for my taste. The dubbing is uneven, with some out of character voices in my opinion such as Zaar.
There's not a huge amount of enemy variety, especially in the shadow realm, but good enough.
In my opinion, the majority of quests are lazy MMO level of design and, for a Hack'n'Slash, it can be quite slow paced.
The biggest flaw for me is the atrocious pathfinding: your character will very often get stuck in objects on its way, making some puzzles way more challenging than they actually are. And if you made a build with summons, you'll be blocked by your minions constantly. That's because the algorithm seems to only take into account the level's fixed architecture, not the "spawnable" entities such as minions, NPCs, objects, etc.
That being said, the positives really outweigh the negatives here, and I can't judge a game like this as if it was Activision Blizzard behind it with all the funding in the world.
After a sea of disappointments in the games I played lately, here is one I had no expectations from and surprised me by how well it was for a "small" game. It's definitely not a solo indie dev kind of game, I just mean it's not Diablo IV and you can tell, and I happen to genuinely think that it's actually more interesting than the latter.
Boring... I have nothing more to say about this game.

Bought this game a while back and tried to finish it just now and it's not worth it. I initially stoped playing because of the very clunky controls, today I decided to try with a controler and while it's smoother, the game is just too old, the controls too clunky, the animations too unpolished, the models too low poly, the game just too outdated by modern contemporanies to be worth playing. It has an interesting gimick where you controll a party but one member at a time and can go from one to the next at will... but honestly? it's just a gimmick. It might be just the game for somebody, but for me it's jsut wasted money I spend a few years ago.
Nice RPG with the multi character play. It can be seen as constraining versus the usual preference (mage, archer, warrior...) but is in fact pretty fun. Nothing prevents to focus primarily on 1 type, but nice synergy is possible by switching during combat. Well balanced between action and interesting puzzles
Okay concept of having two characters split between worlds but get annoying.
Action RPG with a few unique twists: the first being the ability to switch between a living realm and parallel spirit world at any time, and the second being the ability to switch between multiple characters at will.
Despite the interesting premises, the game itself turns out to be somewhat dull: the combat is very basic ARPG fare, and the character building/progression is far too sparse and restrictive for my tastes.

Advertencia: éste no es un juego de rol de acción rápida como Grim Dawn o Wolcen; su velocidad es más comparable con la de Titan Quest o Divinity, y su énfasis en los diálogos es mucho mayor; en resumen, es más interacción que adrenalina; y eso no es malo, ya que eso lo acerca más al rol clásico.
La mecánica de rotar personajes es divertida y original. TODOS los diálogos tienen actuación de voz, lo cual es maravilloso. Las habilidades funcionan bien (hay una pequeña limitación en la caja de colisiones del ataque básico en melé pero es fácil acostumbrarse). Los gráficos son hermosísimos y atmosféricos. Las misiones son sencillas pero perfectamente funcionales y puedes ganar personajes con algunas. Y el lore es fascinante y original.
Es cierto que algunas marionetas son obligatorias en ciertos tramos el juego, pero fuera de éstas áreas son opcionales y hablan aunque no estén en el grupo gracias a que son muchas almas en un solo cuerpo. Mi consejo es concentrarte en la jugabilidad de tu marioneta principal a la hora de elegir otra que le complemente o le sirva de apoyo, y dejes el cuarto espacio para que el juego te guíe; aunque lo parezca, no es un juego sobre un equipo de personas, sino sobre una entidad con identidades múltiples.
No hay posjuego. Pero la historia es tan sólida (cosa poco común hoy en días), que no lo necesita. A cambio favorece la rejugabilidad con personajes alternativos, builds para los personajes y el grupo, rutas distintas, y finales según el sistema de karma.
Lamento que haya calificaciones negativas salidas de personas que probablemente se imaginaron cosas erróneas sobre el juego: en realidad es una gran experiencia de rol, muy diferente a lo que estamos acostumbrados. Muy recomendado.

萌新第一次玩ARPG，普通难度菜刀队通关
- 剧情俗套、逻辑突兀（你明明这么强还找我帮你拯救世界干什么？）
- 解谜要经常跑图，就为了看个蜡烛或字符
- 三队员位一个主要队员占着，一个章节相关队员占着，其实只有一个队员位是你能自由分配的（砸门的可以不带，绕道或者缺点非必要奖励）
- 角色不平衡，不少坐冷板凳，卡丽莎和龙人疑似有点超模了
但能让我玩30个小时顺水推舟不卡关还是可以给个好评的
Underrated ARPG. I hated the real time + pause in the old Baldur's Gate games, but this game somehow manages to combine ARPG mechanics with a party-based CRPG atmosphere. I don't remember much about the story, but the gameplay was solid.
Basically, you have 4 active party members (you can get more NPCs in reserve ranks - although not all on the same playthrough), but only one is in play at a time. So you can swap while skills are on cool down or to set up a combo with one character and then switch to another for the finisher. And combat continues until all 4 active members die.
There aren't as many options with skills compared to other ARPGs, but since you have many different party members to choose from (I think over a dozen) you do have other ways of customization. Loot is pretty boring iirc, but at least the game doesn't throw a ton of loot at the players. Honestly, I'd rather have boring loot than have to spend time sorting through piles of loot. If I kill a boss or an elite, I don't mind loot explosions, but generally it's not a fun mechanic.
This is easier than their Vikings ARPG game so if you want a challenge, maybe try hard rather than normal. I would recommend saving the hardest difficulty for a 2nd playthrough since there are three main characters you can choose from and so this will give it more replay value, but if you enjoy very tough games like Dark Souls then try very hard. Normal did have a few challenging fights, but I wish I did play on hard. I assume easy is easier than most ARPGs' default difficulty.
Понравились механики не присущи как правило данному жанру - головоломки, смена персонажа. Визуальный стиль тоже хорош. Что не понравилось, это подача сюжета и вообщем лора игры, мне было очень тяжело вникнуть. Не играл раньше в серию Королевства Ереси, возможно проблема в этом. Музыка почти вся из игры Райзен, мне не показалось, тк я недавно проходил 2 части, немного смутил этот момент. И доп квесты, они обычные, блёклые, не запоминающиеся. Для меня средненький диаблоклон, но с крутыми механиками и хорошим визуалом) Titan Quest one love
Позаимствую фразу "это геншиноподобный-диаблойд". Рпг оч напоминающая диабло, но дающая возможность использовать сразу 4х персонажей. Как минимум 2х надо использовать постоянно, так как действие происходит сразу в двух мирах. Из плюсов отмечу периодически неплохие головоломки. Из минусов - инвентарь, он очень неудобен тут. Сюжет норм, не надо ожидать, что он вас захватит. Механика вполне удобная. В целом рекомендую.

I get the idea of having two char between two worlds but it doesn't work in this case.

The developers of this game clearly did NOT understand what makes ARPGs great. Everything what is great about the genre is just left out in this game. It's a super linear experience, there is literally no replayabilty, and by far the worst is: there is NO RESPAWN. None. Meaning you can't farm for specific items in this game AT ALL which is absolutely ridiculous. You just have to play through the game and every area ONCE and desperately hope that some good stuff for your build is gonna drop, bc otherwise you're screwed, bc as I said before, there is NO RESPAWN!! Dumbest design decision ever and made me insta-quit the game. This is not how you make an ARPG! Not at all. Probably my worst purchase on Steam ever.
Este juego es muy entretenido , me encanta el sistema de como mezcla el diablo 2 con el bardurt gate (aunque son juegos totalmente distintos) y el sistema vieja escuela aunque yo no lo he probado debe de estar muy divertido

A good balance between combat, story telling, character development and exploration. It reminds me somewhat of Titan Quest but with more of an RPG twist and, of course, more characters to play as (including the excellent demon 'puppet'!) Tom Baker does a sterling job as the main narrator but the rest of the voice acting is very much up to par as well. Inventory management is cumbersome but it works. Puzzles are most often easy to work out but not always easy to solve. Some require very fast mouse inputs whilst others don't seem to respond reliably to mouse input at all. There is also some backtracking but that's something that doesn't worry me and often I'll find some loot that I missed the first time round. Having played almost every major RPG out there since 1982 I can say that this compares well with the good ones. I've had a lot of fun with the game so far (just started Chapter 3) and, barring major shifts in the way it runs, I'm looking forward to completing it.
It's been a while since I enjoyed a game so much I wanted to replay to find all the character lines, quests, endings... *probably* won't go for full achievements though because they are a lot of work :) (yes, I am looking at you, hard with no deaths and extreme difficulty).
Puzzles can be figured out, once you know what to look for and how to roll boulders. combat and character building is rather on the simple side, but that is honestly not a bad thing. don't you hate it when levelling up takes more time than actually playing?
I honestly cannot remember when I bought this game, but I am sure glad I found it in my library. I was starting to think there is no good story games for me to play any more.

[h1] Story [/h1] Anfangs sehen wir wie ein Magier einen Dämon ohne Pakt beschwört. Dieser Dämon nimmt nun wiederum die Seele eines von Dreien Charakteren in sich auf und uns wird aufgetragen ein Unheil aufzuhalten, welches die Welt wie wir sie kennen ins Verderben stürzen kann
[h1] Gameplay [/h1] Das Gameplay ist nett gemacht. Wir spielen einen Dämon der sich nur in der Spektralwelt umher bewegen kann. Am Anfang des Spiels können wir uns einen von Drei Charakteren aussuchen dessen Seele wir beanspruchen wollen (Im Prinzip die Charakter Auswahl). Wir können uns zwischen Krieger, Jäger oder Zauberin entscheiden. So nimmt der Dämon nun die Seele in sich auf und wir können jederzeit zwischen den beiden Charakteren hin und her switchen. Der Dämon kann wie gesagt nur in der Spektralwelt umher wandern, während alle anderen Charaktere in der Normalen Welt umher laufen können. Im Laufe des Spiels findet man viele weitere verschiedene Seelen bzw. Charaktere. Die Menschlichen Charaktere übernehmen in Siedlungen, Städte usw. das reden mit verschiedenen Völkern. Insgesamt ist das meiner Meinung nach eine richtig tolle Idee. Man kann neben den Dämon, 3 eitere Charaktere gleichzeitig mitnehmen und jederzeit wechseln. Im Kampf ist das oftmals auch sehr von Vorteil denn man kann z.B. mit dem Dämon durch einen Skill den Schaden aller Normalen Angriffe verstärken und dann z.B. auf seinen Golem switchen der nun auch davon betroffen ist. So kann man viele Skills der einzelnen Charaktere miteinander kombinieren was ich ebenfalls richtig cool gemacht finde. Wie in einem ARPG üblich, finden wir natürlich auch Haufenweise Loot was wir unseren Charakteren zuteilen können. Wenn man eine Stufe aufsteigt, kann man ganz Klassische 5 Fähigkeitspunkte in Stärke, Geschick, Ausdauer oder Willenskraft packen und zudem noch einen Skill lernen oder verbessern und bei jedem Dritten Level Up, können wir dann auch noch zusätzlich einen Passiven Skill lernen. Das Spiel ist in 6 Kapitel aufgeteilt und jedes davon kommt mit seinen eigenen Haupt & Neben Quests. Man kann auch oft Entscheidungen treffen, was genau man zu einem NPC sagen will um dadurch die Quests auf unterschiedliche Weise zu lösen. Die 3 Haupt Charaktere die man am Anfang wählen kann, haben auch ihre ganz eigene Geschichte, also lohnt es sich tatsächlich auch das Spiel mehrmals durchzuspielen. Es gibt zudem auch viele verschiedene Rätsel in der Spielwelt zu lösen, die uns oft Gute Waffen oder Schätze geben. Das Spiel ist komplett auf Deutsch vertont mit Sprechern die man schon in vielen anderen Spielen gehört hat und die machen hier einen sehr Guten Job. Auch die Grafik ist sehr Hübsch und die Musik ist Toll
[h1] Achievements [/h1] Es gibt insgesamt 45 Erfolge. Hierfür muss man das Spiel u.a. auf dem Höchsten Schwierigkeitsgrad beenden ohne das jemals eine der Marionetten (Charaktere) stirbt, zudem muss man das Spiel mit beiden Endings beenden also auf jeden Fall 2 mal durchspielen

Grafik sieht sehr gut aus und das Voice Acting ist Fantastisch gelungen. Wer mal wieder Lust auf ein richtig Gutes RPG hat, ist hiermit auf jeden Fall sehr gut bedient. Mir hat es total viel Spaß gemacht und ich kann es einfach nur Empfehlen

one of the better games i've ever played
I normally don´t like mindless hack´n slash games but due to no other games to play I had to try this out. I got it cheap on sale and was positively surprised. Good graphics, fantastic voice acting and an ok storyline. Sure the mindless hack´n slash quickly gets boring and I can only play for max 1 hour at a time since it becomes a chore but I always returns. There is enjoyment in levelling and add skills and attributes, finding or buying new weapons and I like the system with several different puppets you can dynamically switch between. Each and everyone has their own voice acting, story, strengths and weaknesses.
I recommend this game only on sale and I never bought it for more than perhaps 5 euro.
One of the better Diablo-like games in recent history. The gameplay is swift, with great control and cadency.

팁이 있다면 처음 캐릭터는 전사로 하는것을 추천(궁수랑 전사는 스토리 진행하다보면 동료가 영입되는데 그 친구들이 훨씬 쌤)

There's nothing really glaringly awful about this game. It's just .. middling (Yes, i put nearly 50 hours in to finish it. but it took 3 years of sitting in my backlog.) It wasn't terrible, you can tell a lot of thought and passion went into making it. The puppet system is kind of neat, the lore, world building, and setting are great. The graphics hold up well, and even the voice acting is well done.
But beyond that.. it's just wasn't that fun. By the end it was just AoEing everything to death with lizard bro and speedrunning through it. At a certain point (at least on normal difficulty) there's no reason to bother upgrading your gear, new skills, etc. Combat is stupidly easy, and the puzzles (i think there's 5 variations?) become nothing but tedious time sinks to get from one quest marker to the next.

Even the first area is so cumbersome to go through.
You have to switch between two realms constantly just to pass through a linear dungeon. I bet the further you go, the more annoying this gets.
I hate that most such games have puzzles sttached on every single corner. It's like they put the mechanics into the game just to make a puzzle areas out of them.
See a moving thing, switch to other realm (character) to stop it, move on the stopped thing to traverse into another room, then switch back to another realm (aka character) and repeat. There are a lot of dead ends, broken paths and backtracking because of this. You always have to switch between the characters. Always. Such a gimmicky, uninteresting way to play through the game. Even in combat you have to switch between characters/realms because the enemies are invulnerable in one state and vulnerable in another. Holy F.... What a time waster. 1h was enough for me. I dislike these "unique" games with "unique" and dreadful mechanics in them instead of being normal games.
Definitely not a game for me.

Its a slashing rpg with puzzles. The puzzles are ok but later in the game the plot is straight forward, pick up or kill enemies. The heroes switching and realms seems ok but you just switch almost always not to miss some loot. The hero choices doesnt matter. The essence element I didnt get how to use. Graphic is decent.
Concept of time is weird. I've played this for 3 hours but it has felt like 15 hours.
Either there was some memo missing from "aRPG game design" or they tried to re-invent wheel. Sadly it didn't really go as planned in my opinion. I know the description says "tactical combat" like its "real-time jRPG!" but we all know its really meant to be hack-slash diablo-like not "tactical CRPG" like Pillars of Eternity or older cRPGS that had "real-time with/without pause"
Combat is very slow and monotonous. You basically use 1-3 skills, run out of mana and just auto-attack for while. While other "diablo-likes" make you feel slightly OP and trash mobs die in few hits at best, Shadows Awakening makes every trash mob feel like mini-boss by taking quite a while to kill. Thankfully there's only 3-4 on screen at once..
What makes the combat monotonous is that none of the hits really feel "oomph". Its just throwing auto-attacks that land like wet noodles, both audio-visually and damage-wise.
Loot? No sir!
I've played 3 hours and gotten to chapter 2 (28% gotten that achievement..).
I've changed my "human" characters weapon 2½ times. Half because one mini-boss was immune to my lightning weapon.. Theres just simply no loot to be had. You get money drops from SOME urns you kill..And if theres loot, since its aRPG most of the weapon drops you get are "for wrong class". Compared to other "diablo-likes" where you are constantly full inventory and change weapons almost every map, slowly building up power. Here you feel like you're stuck at level 3 weapon for 7 levels..which you are.
"Shadow realm" function is interesting at least. You see solutions to puzzles in shadow realm and then switch to "real" realm to complete the puzzle, But doesnt really save all above.

Endless backtracking, bad puzzle design- especially the timing puzzles, and encounters/boss fights that are insufferable. The concept is novel and leads to some fun interactions- but they are far too infrequent to keep playing though the campaign.

O jogo possui os elementos necessários para ser bom, mas na hora de fazer o gol os cara acertaram a trave. O jogo tem uma premissa bem legal, tem vários personagens para jogar, o que acaba não deixando chato, tem gráficos bonitos, mas a movimentação dos personagens é muito engessada, ao ponto que em certas horas nos tira do sério, poderia ser mais fluída a movimentação, juntando o fato, que pelo menos no começo, precisamos nos movimentar muito, já que um espirro mata o personagem.O menu também é esquisito, muito click para tudo, poderia ser mais dinâmico. O conselho que dou é, comprem em uma promoção excelente, porque se eu tivesse comprado pelo preço original estaria chorando até hoje.
The game uses puzzles that are not at all hard to figure out (and there are walkthroughs available of course), but unjustifiedly difficult to execute for people without fast coordination skill, even with knowledge of the solution. And while the game has easy difficulty mode, switching to it changes nothing regarding the puzzles. That definitely turns the thumb down for me. Also, i find this a sort of foul play, that you can get this game for free from buying its predecessor, [url=http://store.steampowered.com/app/256030/Shadows_Heretic_Kingdoms/]Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms[/url], but it’s not clearly stated anywhere by the publisher that the games are still bundled this way. Bundle is a nice thing, why hide it?!
PS: It took me 90+ hours to (thoroughly and attentively, and also quite laggy despite playing on exactly the recommended specs and lowest graphics) complete the storyline for the first time on Easy. To 100% achievements, the game must be beaten 3 times because of the story’s mutually exclusive choices. In my 90+ hours i travelled a few forks both ways to pick an extra achievement or just for fun, but those were short, and i believe not less than 24h i spent on sorting my equipment, selling stuff i was sure i would’t need but keeping stuff i thought i might need. The inventory space is capped low and the sorting process is aided by really painful interface and a lot of glitches that made me restart the game a lot when the trade menu stopped even showing the right items. When managing the equipment the player still has to juggle the many available heroes, who can re-use each others’ equipment in many various combinations, between only two replaceable slots. I actually like micromanagement, but i obviously want a better thought-out interface for it. Which is never the case with cross-platform games, but i play on PC and don’t at all enjoy always having to face other platforms’ limitations but never their benefits. Having completed the Easy playthrough, i learned that all this equipment pain was unnecessary, no specialization damage or armor needed, killing everything with only the most general stuff was Easy indeed. But when i played i couldn’t be sure of that and suspected difficulty balance walls at any point. If i ever replay the game on a higher difficulty for the first time again, for the same reason all micromanaging will have to be done again.
It is a great game that hides its good side in a spiky shell of its bad sides. The devs could have worked more on cracking the shell and making the great game more likely enjoyable to much more players, but they gave up on it too son. Sad.

А вот минусов... Бесполезные телепорты, хотя тут они нужны как воздух порой ибо персонажи двигатся не просто медленно, а прям как черепахи, миссии уровня подай-принеси почти не снабжённые дополнительным сюжетом, вся боёвка - как быстро ты закликаешь врага, сюжет... ну он наверно есть? Что? кто? почему? зачем? - становится приблизительно понятно примерно в середине игры (я предполагаю что дошёл где то до средины, тк не осилил до конца). Инвентарь.. Боже это наверно один из самых неудобных инвентарей в играх.
Точно не рекомендую даже на распродаже, в процессе прохождения хотелось заснуть.
Стоит брать если ваш бэклог абсолютно пуст и хочется чего то изометрического с красивой картинкой.
Обычно если в игре хотя бы 1 из элементов - сюжет или геймплей - доведён до ума, то насколько бы плох не был оставшийся, игру можно пройти. Но не в этом случае

This was a hard game to recommend, it is one of those games that has a lot of great ideas by never fully executes all those ideas in a way that satisfies the player. For that reason I give it a 7/10, however if they actually had spent more time expanding on all the new elements here, the game would easily be an 8-9/10.
The story and lore and environments in this game are wonderful, the graphics are great and well optimized, this will run on most any computer. Every city you encounter is very unique and has its own living breathing story to it. This is where my first gripe starts to come in. Despite all of the work placed in the detailed cities and lore, the game constantly will throw you in "filler" environments that that have an illusion of being open world but are very linear and boring in nature. This is a hard gripe to explain without spoiling much of the stories in the game but I will use the first city you encounter as an example. The game starts in this beautiful desert merchant city called Thole, the city is bustling with merchant activities and quests. It introduces you to a lot of the surrounding lore in the game and grabs the players attention immediately. You quickly learn that Thole is under siege by nomadic slavers who wish to conquer the city for their own gains and this leads to many elaborate decisions for the player. You have to figure out how to escape the city, talk with the city leaders, negotiate with the leader of nomadic slavers so you can get through their siege camp. All of this occurs in the first couple of hours of the game and it hooks you, it makes you wonder how the rest of the game will play out. Well right after leaving the city, the game throws you into a generic desert environment with almost no quests and limited enemy variety, its boring and you will be stuck playing through that environment for about 2-3 hours. This is always the problem with Shadows: awakening and the storytelling environments, you go to this interesting city with detailed lore for about 30 mins to an hour and then you have to play through generic environmental slog for like 3-4 hours right after. I didn't realize the game had so much "filler" content till about halfway through the game, but after awhile you start wishing the game built more on the foundation it created by its detailed cities and well thought out lore.
The second thing Shadows does really well, but falls short on is the unique game play elements. You play as a demon who can quick switch through 3 different "puppets" in real time, it is the games way of balancing real time action with a party of 3 characters that you can control simultaneously. There are 14 different playable characters(more with the DLC) that you unlock throughout the game and this allows for a ton of replay ability because you can't unlock all the players in just one play through. There are 3 "classes" but I'm honestly not sure why the characters are separated in classes because each character is very unique to the point where there is little overlap. For example there is a hunter class(this is like a rogue class) and there is a generic character with a bow and arrow, but there is also a character in the same class that is a flying human sized wasp that shoots stingers and plays way differently than just the generic ranger like guy. They all have unique abilities that really encourages the player to explore and play through all of the characters.
This all sounds really wonderful, so why do I have a problem? My problem lies in the fact the game only lets you have 3 puppets at once, one of which is the main character you are stuck with the entire game. so you only get to choose 2 others to play as and often times you will be playing through a side puppets quest for 5-6 hours at a time which means you will be stuck with that puppet as well. So the game really only lets the player "choose" one puppet to play with, while you find yourself getting bored with the puppets the game forces you to play with. This is a pretty short game, only about 20 hrs to beat the main storyline and most of the side quests. So out of 14 puppets and being stuck with two, you only get about an hour or two with all the other characters in the game. This makes you feel like you aren't really playing through all the game has to offer. Sure this encourages replay ability, but would it have killed the developers to allow you to quick switch through 4 total playable characters instead of 3? Why lock the main character and side characters in play during most segments of the game? One would think unlocking the players might break the immersion, but the characters all talk to each other throughout the game anyways whether they are in play or not. So why does it matter that I am FORCED to use certain characters in combat segments when the game allows characters not in play to interact in story sections anyways.
Not to mention the different classes are wildly imbalanced. The hunter class is straight garbage, half of the enemies in this game have pierce resistance, which is the only damage type hunters have. Switching to a hunter is like throwing un-sharpened pencils at the enemies, its totally useless. The mages have the same amount of health but their spells do immensely more damage and have tons of options for different damage types so you never have the problem of facing enemies with resistance to what you use. The warrior class has double the health of the other two classes and can be pretty high damage as well, but you have to get up close and personal to your enemies with these characters which makes switching to a warrior a fun change of pace. I found myself switching between a warrior and mage most of the game and just ignoring the hunter class. Not because I wanted to but because the hunter class was simply boring and unplayable, I started off with one from each class but had to remove the hunter halfway through the game because half of the enemies and bosses took no damage from the hunter class due to pierce resistance.
Overall, I am walking away from this game with a major love/hate relationship. I loved the detailed story telling, lore, cities and characters. I also loved the new game play elements Shadows has to offer. My hatred settled in whenever those things I loved became overshadowed by the boring uninspired environments, strange game play restrictions and the weirdly weak hunter class making 5 of the characters feel unplayable for most of the game. As I said at the start, because of these issues, Shadows is a 7/10 game that could have easily been an 8-9/10 game for me if the developers had just spent a little more time refining the game.

Boring, repetitive. Sure, having the shadow side is different, but just means you have to clear out the same area more than once. The mage and archer seem useless after a point, the puzzles are frustrating, repetitive and boring. Dying repeatedly just to avoid a situation and get to the next level is frustrating.
I'm surprised I lasted as long as I did, but I can't be bothered continuing.
A surprisingly competent hidden gem with some great story twists and replayability. Greatly recommended.
Although do yourself a favor and spec one of your characters for speed - There's unfortunately a lot of backtracking in this title.
Also the 2 DLCs are absolute ♥♥♥♥. About 5-10min of content in each and the classes gained are so bland and boring compared to the existing roster.
Maybe not a hidden gem, but at least hidden silver ring.

This is a fun game. Side quests are useful and interesting and they help you level up fast. The level-up system is easy. If you have a busy schedule and you want to escape reality when you have some free time, this is great for that. Not too many things too remember

This is a fun game that has unique game play and an interesting story. You will reach the max level by the time you have finished the main quest. I don’t feel that there is much replay value to the game after that, and there is no farming or multiplayer in the game; all the levels can only be cleared once. I skipped many of the side quests, but it didn’t feel like they added much to the story.
Graphics: The graphics still hold up in 2024 even if there are better looking games, this one still looks great, and the interface runs nicely on a 4K monitor.
Story: The story allows you to pick different dialog options which influence the outcome. I can see why some reviews say the game is slow, since it has a lot of dialog for you to read and click though with places where your chose matters.
Puzzles: Puzzles are a big part of the game, and some can be quite difficult, but you can look at walkthrough videos if you get stuck which makes them easy.
Level Design: Most of the levels in the game, even ones that are supposed to be open areas feel very tunnel-like and small with walls of enemies being the only thing slowing you down.
Items: Items in the games are basic and even the lowest tier items can be upgraded with essences to the highest tier legendary. Infect the most powerful item in the game would be a level 30 white item infused with your favorite four essences. You will still find legendary items that drop but they feel less exemptional when you realize you can make them. Since, the game doesn’t allow farming, and mobs won’t respawn this was a good chose that the developers made with their game’s design, but it does make the game feel simplified compared with other action RPG games.
Companions: The way Companions is handled in this game is quite unique. You can have a party of four and switch between each simply by rolling the mouse wheel. They all share XP and level together as well. Each Companion has a bunch of special abilities that are useful in different situations, and you will find you are often switching between them the way you might switch weapons in a FPS game.
Overall, I would say the game is a fresh take on a genre that’s feeling kind of dull and not very new.
