RaidersSphere4th c'est basiquement le gameplay et l'esthétique de Ace Combat 3 mais sur Venus. Un très bon level design, une histoire prenante et une musique très sympa. Cependant, je ne recommande ce jeu qu'aux fans Ace Combat ET de science-fiction spatiale comme moi (Stargate, Halo, Mass Effect, etc...), vous serez agréablement surpris.
Worth playing if you're into Ace Combat-likes and don't mind low budget/doujin graphics and story.

Imagine if you will, Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere- but on VENUS and made by a handful of very passionate Japanese programmers and designers.
Must play if you're into arcadey flight sims, though definitely bear in mind going in that it's a passion project, and also done by a small studio about 13 years ago as of me writing this.
Some things to note:
There is a chance during gameplay for texture and sound issues to come up, but I am also playing this on Win 11 without the japanese unicode enabled.
Also, if you aim to play on controller (as you should with any AC game), be sure to enable "Steam Input" on your controller to avoid the game freaking out over rotation values, it will also make it actually possible to remap the buttons to your liking with the issue smoothened out.
ALL IN ALL, it's a very old game with more than a few flaws, but if you want a story as crazy as AC3 with story and design elements from across the entire series WITH tight and familiar flight controls this is definitely an easy choice to pick up ***on sale***, as much as I love this quirky little game with all my heart it's NOT worth 20 dollars, not anymore anyway.
TL;DR, 7/10. It's buggy, it's completely nonsensical, but if you enjoy the futurism of AC3JP pick it up and try it, it's a LOT of fun especially to sit down and do blind.

I feel like comparing this to Ace Combat games is a bit unfair and wrong. This game is pretty much its own thing (maybe they took a few things as inspiration, but that's about it).
To make it short, this is perhaps the most anime Arcade Flight Sim games I've ever seen. Maybe even surpassing AC on that level. Also, the fact that it has 30 missions is insane.
It's an aging game so controller configuration was hell in the beginning. You'll probably use the shoulder buttons instead of the trigger buttons for thrust and brakes. The rest is up to your preferences.
If you need to yaw left or right, just tilt the jet slightly to the left or right and it'll respond.
Other than that, [b] PLAY THE GAME IN EASY MODE IF YOU'RE JUST STARTING. [/b]
Doesn't matter if you're an AC veteran. Every jet -- yours' and the enemies' -- will be stuck at the stats the developers gave them. You're going to start with a bad jet while enemies may have better ones, and they'll be swarming you.
And the planes have weight. You can easily stall, get hit by enemies, and have reduced maneuverability if you fly wrong.
If solely you and and the enemies are facing off while using the same jets, you have to play smart, fly smart and fly patiently.
The AI is no joke and there are no flares and no magical hi g maneuvers that'll save you. The game doesn't hold hands with you, and I like that.
Storywise, you and your companions take on missions as independents at the beginning while also desiring to figure out a mystery that drives the characters. They (and us players) also get to know more about the setting's politics and hidden mysteries that may or may not lead to even more questions. Speculation can be fun.
There won't be preachy sermons of morality. [spoiler] All factions were quite literally at fault (despite being perhaps unaware of it) in the creation of what I could argue the true enemies in the game [/spoiler]. And there is no deification of characters, which happens a lot in AC. There are a lot of great pilots in the game's universe and you're just regarded as one of them as you take on more daring tasks.
As for superweapons because, of course, they're pretty great. Some originals, some taken from inspiration. There are a lot of megastructures and megacities.
Settingwise, it is some of the most hyperborean and anime things I've ever seen and I love it.
At the same time, the way characters and factions react, speak, and think is realistic. It lacks the theatrics AC games had and perhaps that's a good thing? You decide.
So yes. I love this game for being RaidersSphere4th. It doesn't try to be a carbon copy of other games and only focuses on the story they made. Instead of recycling another game's story (hopefully not), it makes their own and maximizes the hyperborean levels in storytelling and whatnot.
I needed this when I'm craving for an Arcade Flight Sim game. Honestly, so long as it has good controls, good story, good enemies, and a challenge, I'm eating it up.

Poorly designed mission, sluggish response across all planes, stats seem not even matter most of the time.
If you have played AC, PW or similar game, this game will give you an aneurysm finishing it.
Mission design is frustrating and I highly doubt this was ever properly tasted. There are number of missions that are incredibly disorientating solely do the graphics choices where ground, sky and sometimes even walls are really close in color. Never had this problem in all of AC. Planes feel sluggish (regardless what the in game stats say), distance to get lock on missiles is incredibly low. So to get a lock one needs to get close and at low speed - hard to do with 4 missiles coming at you. Not to mention looking at radar window I doubts that enemy missile aren't way more maneuverable.
Story is weird and at points just straight up horrible. I don't understand how this got past a team of peoples. Presentation in VN style is fine, clearly a cost saving measure. Setting the story on Venus could be interesting but it goes essentially nowhere.
Performance is great on windows. On Linux it doesn't work work at all. But not like there is much to enjoy even when the game works.
If you want AC game set in a future play AC 3, despite being a PS1 title it's miles better in every single compartment. If you played all AC games, PW and other give busted unfinished Vector Thrust a chance.

For ace combat knock off, it's not that bad. If someone had said this was a spin off without prior knowledge, you'd think this was part of the franchise. What makes it difficult though is it definitely shows it's age. Game runs fine, but the QoL features are rough around the edges. I'd say yea for enthusiasts who love ace combat style games. It almost feels like a Vita game. Might feel better to play on the Deck.
During combat, you are mostly better off just using the machine gun the entire time. i'll commend it for being an indie game that does the genre well.

I enjoyed this wacky mix of arcade flight simulator and visual novel. Graphics aren't amazing, though that's fine because the game is old and they aren't eye-destroying. Controlling the plane was somewhat difficult at first because you have to use the arrow keys for pitch and roll, and you should probably assign q and e to yaw. The rest of the controls are kind of nonsensical so it would be best to just totally rebind them before you start playing. I also found the missions to be difficult and dogfights too tough on normal because of the bad controls, so I just played on easy.
The story is alright. It's not Ace Combat/Project Wingman, but it has its moments. Nobuyuki is an OG.
Overall, if you can look past the dated graphics, bad controls, and don't mind playing on easy, I think this can be a nice game to buy on sale.

La personalización es bastante profunda, lo cual te permite transformar tu raigambre de chatarra espacial en algo que podría, al menos en teoría, pasar por una nave. Además, la sensación de vuelo no es del todo horrible, a veces realmente sientes que estás surcando el cosmos en lugar de jugar con un dron en el parque.

- Compralo con descuento. A menos que seas un incondicional de los simuladores de vuelo que puede encontrar un diamante en un montón de carbón, mejor espera a que este título esté en oferta. Quizás con unos cuantos parches y una oración a los dioses del gaming, RaidersSphere4th pueda eventualmente despegar completamente.
Demasiado texto en inglés, no sería un problemas si no fuesen muchos tecnicismo que ni conozco sobre cosas ficticias. Creo que está mal optimizado, ya que a veces me tira framedrops y la pc me va al 100.
Los controles con Teclado y mouse son inútiles, aberrantes, vomitivos. Y ni hablemos de que no funciona con gamepads wireless.

Low budget and kind of janky, but well worth playing if you're an AC fan
Genuinely very surprised by how competent and fun this game is. basic colours and details aside (I died more than once from not being able to tell the difference between a tunnel and a wall) it's a fine Ace Combat-esq adventure in a sci-fi setting. If you're looking for a 3d based plane combat game you could do much, much worse than this.

Very reminiscing of early Ace Combat with a Visual Novel in between levels. Weak points are the soundtrack and fighter designs, but the gameplay is solid fun
If you expect Air on Air action here turn away, this is mostly a "fly around in cricles ignoring the enemy raiders and bomb stuff on the ground"
Air-to-Air missiles are all but useless, only way to take somebody down is with your gun as the AI is able to perform maneuvers that would turn any lesser man into boneless pizza
The story and setting are very interesting but it feels like they leave giant chunks of context out of the plot or fail to resolve issues befores moving on to something new.
Character written dialogue and spoken audio doesn't match up half of the time.
And while you can look past the dated Playstation 2 graphics, man... the ending left me speechless as in THERE WAS NO ENDING AT ALL.
But the game did kick my butt on several occasions forcing me to "get gud" so I will recommend it just for that.

This doujin arcade flight simulator comes from a long-lived series made by Rectangle, and is the first of the series brought to the west by the publisher Sekai Project.
This game uses the latest version of SphereEngine, SphereEngine4th, which is Rectangle's in-house SDK for creating flight-sim games, with previous versions being used for games like The Witch Of Triplecanopy (which still hasn't released on Steam, but is available on DLSite).
This game includes full controller support, but for a more Ace Combat-like experience you will have to change some buttons around on an Xbox controller. Fair warning.
The story takes place in Venus, years after an immigration initiative and in the aftermath of an economic bubble's burst, where the the Sentinels of Terra, a UN organization, is trying to keep things from spiraling out of control, and the Venus Mining Initiative has gotten their hands on a monopoly because they were one of the few companies to survive the economic failure. The Sentinels and VMI are on the brink a hot war, and this is where things kick off.
In the thick of it there is the Southline Airlines company, a family-operated Raider business of which Ellea, code Sonic-Venus, operates as the family's Raider Driver in search of her father who up and left some time ago. Raiders are next-generation fighters that are more compact but still pack a punch. They aren't usually equipped with stealth tech since most factions are still keeping an eye out for larger traditional fighters and aren't well equipped to tag Raiders at range until the fighting starts, and those who pilot Raiders are called Drivers due to the comparative simplicity of the hardware.
The visual novel format of the story is well-timed and keeps the flow of the game moving as you move to picking weapons and Raiders to buy before the next fight ensues.
Sound: The sound quality is quite good, and would have rivaled Ace Combat 4 and 5 back in the day. Chatter over the radio sounds noticeably improved, which is appropriate for the timeframe this game takes place in, and the background chatter, when it's present, adds that Ace Combat flair to the atmosphere.
Music: The music is varied and well-crafted, suitably selling the part of the story you're in right now. From introducing the Southline family to the final showdown, the music will immerse you nicely.
Gameplay: The gameplay is distinctly similar to Ace Combat, especially earlier iterations since AC4 and so on were the latest releases at the time, but the main difference is a Project Wingman-like pylon equip system and the fact that you're piloting small, agile and still well-armed aircraft. The way missiles work is also different, forcing you to jink last minute instead of just turning as hard as you can like in Ace Combat. Landing is also present, and becomes a plot point a few times in the story.
Pros: A great Ace Combat inspired title that sits next to its contemporaries in terms of quality.
Cons: Shaders are wack on RS4th, so expect performance drops, even on an RTX card. If you do suffer performance tanking, I suggest you turn them off because the game still looks good without, OR, you can use Reshade which does a better job overall.
If Rectangle decides to, I'd like to see the earlier Raiders Sphere titles here on Steam, even if they don't translate it.
I've never played any Ace Combat games so I can't compare the two, but this was really fun and a pretty good test of skill. The missions are sufficiently numerous and varied. It's already pretty hard on Normal, and insanely hard on Hard. I did get through Hard eventually but ended up dropping the game once in the process before picking it up and finishing the job later.
The story's alright. I like the art style, especially the design of the qt protag.
The game bugs out sometimes in various nasty ways, requiring a restart. This could, occasionally, even make you replay a successfully finished mission due to getting stuck on the final screen. Didn't bother me too much.
What did really bother me was the targeting mechanic. It's pretty random, and if there's a lot of targets in front of you, good luck targeting the thing you want. There are 2 assignable keys for cycling targets (one in default order, another in opposite order), but on a gamepad you almost certainly won't find a button you can assign to the second one because everything else will be taken. Also good luck binding yaw to buttons you'll actually be using. And on a keyboard...
The keyboard isn't fully rebindable. You're stuck using arrow keys unless you use a third-party program. And you can't fly with the mouse.
If you can overlook a few issues, this is pretty worth it.

ただ古い作品なので現代基準でみるとクォリティはあまり高くない。
２はそこそこやりこんだので、Steamで４を発見したときは喜んだのですが、結論から言うとあまりお薦めできる内容ではなかった。
初期機体がかなり不安定。旋回するだけで機首が落ちる。それを回避しようとすると狙いが定まらない。このゲームのバランス設定というわけではなく、次に手に入る機体ではそんなことはない。ステータスを見ると、単純に不安定な機体が初期機体になっているだけ。２ではこんなことはなく、４でなんでこんな設定にしたのか意味不明。
空間失調に陥りやすいステージがある。周囲を囲まれた空間をぐるぐる飛ぶのですが、地面や壁との遠近感がつかめなくて自位置を見失いがち。人によっては酔うかもしれない。また地下空間を飛ぶステージでも、どこを飛んでいるのか見失いがちで衝突しやすい。
使える兵装が限られている。割といろんな装備があるのですが、目標が多いステージが多数派なので、高性能だけど弾数が少ない兵装は選択肢に上がらない。２でもそういう傾向はあったけど、もう少しいろいろ使えたような気がする。
ストーリーが薄味。ステージ間でいろいろ会話があるのですが、ミッション関連の説明を別にすれば、関連が非常に薄いことしかしゃべらない。終盤は悲劇的な方向に盛り上げようとしてくるのですが、これといって伏線があるわけでもなく、肝心の敵キャラとの関りや因縁も薄く、実際主人公たちも大して反応は示さないのでドラマになってない。
イベントの尺が長い。発進前はまあいいとして、ステージクリアした後に長めの会話が始まることがあり、この間も油断していると地形に衝突してやり直しになる。前述した空間失調しやすいステージや地下空間ではこれが最悪で、クリアで気を抜いて衝突からのやり直しが発生する。
お薦めにはしないが、フラシューとしては手堅くまとまっている。本当ならもうちょっとお薦めしたい気分である。しかし４になってから追加された要素がのきなみ足を引っ張っている。

Flying isn't as polished as Ace Combat 7. Only buy if you really need more Ace Combat. Otherwise, I do not recommend this game. Turning is ny impossible and missiles light you up like a Christmas tree forcing you to maneuver indefinitely.
A doujin indie attempt at basically recreating Ace Combat 1-3. A lot of cute nods and references, like the hangar section being similar to Ace Combat, the verbose plane and weapon descriptions, the mix of rock and techno soundtrack, most of the mechanics and interface, the first desert mission reminding me of Ace Combat 1, the attempt at recreating the pre-mission map flyovers, the character driven story perhaps more reminiscent of Ace Combat 3, 4 and onward... There is a lot in here and credit where credit is due: they nailed a lot of what makes Ace Combat an Ace Combat game, including the flying model and most of the game mechanics.
And yet I would like to preface that this is a very loaded "recommended". The fact that this is a hobbyist low budget effort shows in a lot of places. The aforementioned hangers camera movement isnt smooth and induces nausia. When you start the game you are greeted with a '98 style pregame options window. The sound thats played when enemies lock onto you is absolutely ear piercing, and just like Ace Combat you will be locked on for most of your missions (got really tiresome in Ace Combat too to be fair). While not an issue for me, the graphics look like an upscaled emulated ps2 game and while the game works on my machine on medium, the optimisation seems piss poor on options above medium and you don't have any kind of granular options in the game itself (I don't feel like cracking open the .ini files for this one).
And perhaps my personal biggest offense is the controller support/button remapping. For whatever reason no matter how I set up steam to detect my controller there's always a constant phantom input from my analog stick in this game, pulling the view camera up. This kind of jazz used to be an issue back when I used DS4windows... except I dont have it turned on. I have no clue what is going on here but I personally don't mind reverting to using keyboard only... except the button remapping is incomplete. You can remap 95% of the commands but a couple are hardbound. The options are also only accessible outside of missions/the campaign which is a nuisance.
If you can overcome this lack of polish, I think this game has absolutely something to offer you if you're a fan of the Ace Combat style of gameplay. None of the issues are hard dealbreakers, and my personal controller issue seems to have been fixed for lots of other players in a patch.
Tried to play this game but died as my wingmen kept flying into me and killing me. Also was totally lost on where to go in a mission as I was just told its next to you but have no map or way to pull up a map and i hit every key on my keyboard trying to figure it out.

I've had a lot of fun with this game. It's obviously a knock off of the old Ace Combat games, such as Electrosphere and AC2, but it's a good knock off that gives great nostalgic vibes of the old PS1 and PS2 eras of flight games.
tl;dr cool setting, good mission variety, brought down by cheating enemies, frustrating design, and a bad translation.
Doujin Ace Combat. It's basically exactly what you'd expect based on that in terms of content and production values. What's cool here is the setting with some neat multi-layered sci-fi cities to fly around in, and it has superweapons to take down as well. The environments are suprisingly interesting despite the horrendous textures. Also, back when it came out it was so badly optimised it was basically unplayable, but on a modern computer you can probably manage to get 60fps on the second-highest graphics setting.
What's not cool is the game's terrible balance. There are no high-G turns here, so your movement is slower and more deliberate than in Ace Combat. Missiles are more restricted, and the game is generally harder than Ace Combat has been since 04. That's fine for a while, but it gets ugly soon enough.
Enemy planes can fly through terrain without issue, making chasing enemies heading towards the ground a suicide mission. Enemy missiles have ridiculous homing on them far beyond what the player's missiles are ever capable of, which makes avoiding them incredibly tiresome due to the long manoeuvres encouraging hit and run tactics, especially as later missions have more and more enemies firing missiles at you at once. Allied NPCs are completely worthless when it comes to taking down enemy planes or even drawing fire away from you, so any mission with a lot of enemy missile units is absolute hell of endlessly blazing warning alarms. It's far, far easier to stall your plane when flying around, whereas enemies have no problem maintaining speed while making sharp turns, even before getting to the Watchdogs that can fly around like AC7's drones in a game with half of AC7's mobility.
The game uses a money system to buy planes and special weapons as they become available, but this is incredibly restrictive in terms of what you can afford, especially since with some high value stationary targets on some maps the allied NPCs can steal your kills and thus your funds. After saving for many missions I finally bought a new plane that became available, only for the next mission to have a better model of that same plane available for half the price, which just felt like the dev laughing in my face.
Where I quit in frustration was after taking down one particularly annoying enemy superweapon (cool setting though) only to discover that whereas AC freezes the timer after mission objectives are completed, RS4 slapped me with a time out failure during the post-mission celebratory dialogue as the timer ran out during it.
Oh and also the translation sucks, the guy in charge of it clearly fancied themselves a better writer than the original developer for how much they put their own spin on things instead of translating what was actually said. But it's Sekai Project, so I guess that's to be expected.
Nice arcade flight/fight simulator, controls are little bit confusing but after some time it's very useful.
Different missions, nice plot, hard sky battles allow you recognize yourself as true sky ace!

The flying controls are too difficult.
Cela fait plus d'un an que j'ai joué à ce jeu, mais j'avais envie de lâcher une petite review dessus, parce que je l'ai bien aimé.
Je le précise toujours, mais je ne fais que donner mon avis en restant vague, afin que vous puissiez explorer vous-même le jeu. Le but n'est pas de dire "C NUL" ou "C BI1" mais de vous donner un point de vue qui vous permettra de vous dire si ce jeu peut correspondre à ce que vous voulez, ou non.
[b] Attention : le jeu est en anglais, sans patch FR disponible.
Je recommande FORTEMENT de jouer au controller, essayer le jeu au clavier reviendrait à être masochiste (mais de la douleur naît certaines formes de plaisir).[/b]
[h1] Synopsis & Histoire[/h1]
Pour faire court, vous êtes un pilote de vaisseau de combat (oui oui, je vous jure) qui va devoir accomplir plusieurs missions : l'histoire est très facile à comprendre et assez linéaire.
Les missions sont diverses & variées, pas trop répétitives : si vous avez joué à Starfox 64, eh bien, c'est un peu comme les missions sur maps fixes (pas celles où vous traversez un niveau complet).
Cela revient souvent à détruire des objectifs, ou des avions ennemis, mais ce qui est sûr, c'est qu'on ne s'ennuie pas.
Le jeu est difficile en mode Normal et horriblement dur en mode Difficile : si vous êtes un noob complet en dogfights, sérieux, faites-le en facile pour au moins vous amuser.
Je ne creuse pas davantage car il n'y a pas de big plot twist ou autre, c'est une histoire sympa qui passe comme papa dans maman (un peu comme celle qu'on vous lit le soir quand vous êtes enfant).
Détail très sympa en revanche, le jeu est entièrement doublé : c'est assez rare pour des jeux à "petit budget" indépendants, et les personnages principaux sont vraiment cool/attachants :)
[h1]Graphismes[/h1]
Ok, soyons francs, comparé à la majorité des jeux auxquels vous aurez joué si vous avez moins de 20 ans, les graphismes sont assez laids (par laids, j'entends "pas détaillés/très sommaires"). Vous pouvez le voir sur les screenshots du store, de toute façon.
On est bien loin d'un flight simulator 4K réaliste, vous l'aurez deviné.
Cependant, ça n'est pas gênant : dans le sens où on s'y habitue vite, si vous voyez ce que je veux dire. C'est un peu un état d'esprit : à partir du moment où vous "acceptez" que c'est comme ça et que ça fait partie du jeu, car le jeu a d'autres points positifs.
[h1] Personnalisation[/h1]
Tout d'abord, sachez qu'au fil des missions, vous allez pouvoir acheter des modifications pour votre fighter... voire changer carrément de modèle, si vous économisez comme il faut.
Vous pourrez donc choisir un avion rapide, résistant, maniable, avec une puissance de feu élevée, des armes auxiliaires puissantes... et personnaliser son armement.
Pour un petit jeu, les possibilités de personnalisation sont intéressantes bien que peu nombreuses.
Par définition, votre fighter dispose de :
- 1 mitrailleuse (plus ou moins puissante, selon votre jet) à munition infinie mais qui a besoin de refroidir entre les tirs
- 3 slots d'armement auxquels vous pourrez assigner les armes de votre choix
Sur certaines maps, par exemple, vous préférerez un armement principalement air-sol (roquettes guidées, bombes incendiaires) si les objectifs à détruire sont terrestres ; à l'inverse, sur les missions qui impliquent beaucoup de dogfight (combats entre avions) vous choisirez exclusivement des armes antiaériennes.
Attention en revanche, les munitions sont partagées entre les slots. Si vous décidez de remplir les 3 slots, chacun aura un nombre de munitions plus faible que si vous n'en prenez que deux.
Bien sûr, comme vous ne connaissez pas à l'avance le contenu de la mission, cela implique de perdre et de modifier son armement ensuite : la plupart du temps, je vous suggère par précaution d'avoir une arme air-sol et air-air.
[h1] Combat / Contrôles [/h1]
Soyons francs, pour contrôler votre appareil, il vous faudra un peu de temps : même pour détruire de simples objectifs immobiles, vous devrez apprendre le bon timing pour lâcher votre missile/bombe, etc.
Vous pouvez verrouiller une cible pour tirer un missile, mais cette dernière peut bien entendu esquiver si vous tirez de trop loin. Une alarme (assez lourde) résonne lorsque l'on vous verrouille, vous incitant donc à tenter d'esquiver avec par exemple un joli looping.
Vous disposez aussi d'un radar, qui vous indique les appareils ennemis + les missiles tirés (ce qui se révèle très pratique sur les maps où c'est un peu le souk quand vous avez 10 alliés et 10 ennemis qui volent partout).
En tout cas, même si les graphismes sont limites (pour rester poli), le système de combat est très immersif au point qu'à un moment, je me suis aperçu que les graphismes ne me gênaient même plus ^^
[h1] Conclusion [/h1]
20€ ça fait un peu cher, car la durée de vie est courte, je dirais plus 10/15€ personnellement. Mais l'un dans l'autre, c'est un petit jeu très sympathique, avec une difficulté intéressante : la dernière mission en particulier m'a donné du mal.
Si vous cherchez un jeu de combat aérien avec un style anime, un doublage intégral + une histoire sympa (même si elle ne perce pas le ciel) pas trop cher, alors allez-y.
C'est le genre de jeu que l'on fait en une petite dizaine d'heures, on en ressort content comme après un bon repas sans pour autant avoir découvert la vérité du monde :)

A hidden gem from a saga that is now probably lost media.
RaidersSphere4th is a Japanese console ported 3D arcade flight sim tacked onto a visual novel. Click through walls of text one line at a time with mediocre manga art characters popping in and out, and every now and then get teleported into a very lame, low poly, low quality arcade "flght sim" (which gets skipped back to the story if you tap the space bar).
I really don't know what's worse here, the lame visual novel Engrish translated train wreck, or the completely dismal attempt at a "flight sim" (I can't stress how lazy/low quality the assets and gameplay here are). Here's one example out of many... the "Esc" key fires the cannons! Or is it the insane $28.95 for this horribly translated, console ported dumpster fire? Don't touch this with a badly translated 10' pole.
Yeah yeah, we know—this game is a poor man's [i]Ace Combat[/i]. Regardless of that, it's still pretty decent. Looks and plays like a Dreamcast flight combat game, even with wonky ass controls. I tried out the VR and... it... works! Obviously, if you want a great modern era flight combat game—buy an [i]Ace Combat[/i] game. But when you finish that, pick this up on sale or in a bundle for a fun "B level" experience.

Raiders Sphere 4th is a pretty cool indie Ace Combat style game. There's a bit too little dogfighting action compared to what I'm used to (AC 6 & 7). So many ground targets to bomb. There are a lot of cool sci-fi setpieces though, definitely worthy of the genre. Recommended.
A great alternative to the Ace Combat series. With the rather short list of combat flight sim choices available on Steam (and most of them being based in WW2) this stands out as a very good choice for a low budget who wants a modern arial combat aesthetic.

Humble bundle fodder, played 90 minutes after idling all the cards. Incredibly amateur designs and super dated graphics. Looks and plays like a PS1 game with better textures. Some elements are almost interesting, but the missions are too annoying with easy failure states on all difficulties. The first Ace Combat game was maybe more polished, so this is awful for $20USD.

Läuft flüssig auf 60fps. Musik ist auch catchy. Nur die Zeichnungen lassen doch stark zu wünschen übrig und

Honestly, it saddens me to say this but this is genuinely a pretty mediocre game. Whatever happened somewhere along the lines what made a fun game was lost and instead you have this.
The controls are awful, move like absolute unresponsive trash. Your turn rate very slowly 'accelerates' up to full turn making every plane feel sluggish as hell almost regardless of mobility, which is quite poor in most planes anyhow. The graphics look like something on the ps2(not as bad as some unity games mind you) but that is far from what would make or break this game. The AI fly through building because well, the devs couldn't be damned I guess. Every dogfight is tedious because half the time at the enemies are almost at stall speed and despite the fact that you can not hit them in a light turn the enemies will hit you in everything(even on poor angles) but a full on turn(which you must accelerate up to, something unseen in both simulator and arcade game e.g. ace combat) and even then the missiles will potentially kill you.
The story, voice acting and art is actually pretty good, and the people who made the story probably gave a damn but the people who made the gameplay could either care less or were so incompetent that just making the airplane fly around like flappy bird 3D was a miracle to them.
All in all, the game is tedious, unfun and probably one the most lazy impressions of that blowing stuff up with airplanes arcadey experience that ace combat has to offer. Really, even if you come from AC7 looking for moar just don't play this game, pick up PCSX2 and play any one of the older ace combats.

I like the Ace Combat games and I wanted to like this game, but it's not a satisfying substitute. You will frequently find yourself flying into buildings as most of the missions take place near cities or skyscrapers. At times, you will think, "Hmm, is that a cloud bank?" just before ploughing into the ground because of the muddy textures. For most of your time in the air, you will hear the extremely loud missile-lock alert sound. If you want to target the enemy who's attacking you, first you have to cycle through most of the bogeys one at a time and then you'd better hope your plane is feeling co-operative, as they all handle sluggishly. The whole experience has some cool ideas (like flying up an orbital elevator to destroy cannons) but the execution is lacking.

it's the "poor-man's" Ace Combat, not to say that it's a bad game, as it does a decent job being an Ace Combat clone, the only nitpicks i have with it is that the graphics are obviously dated and there's no English Dubbing, so you'll have to read the subtitles which can be a bit problematic if you're someone like me who is interested in what's going on but can't read that fast while in the middle of a fire fight. If you're looking to scratch that Ace Combat itch and can't afford AC7, I can comfortably recommend this as the cheaper alternative.

・ミッション内容が一辺倒でなくダレる要素が少ない。高低差の激しいミッションが多いのも特徴。
・アクロバットミッションが多数。
・序盤は機体を買わなくても勝手に増える。
・機銃が的に比してヒットボックスが大きく当てやすい。
・キャラクターがフルボイスでしゃべる（ミッション中の通信も）。
・ハードポイントが3箇所あり、持っていける武装の種類が多い。
[悪かった点]
・敵と自分のミサイルの誘導性能が全く異なり、こちらは真後ろから撃ってもほぼ当たらないため、機銃での撃墜を余儀なくされる（ヘッドオンもかなり引き付けないと当たりません）。ずっとエース機と格闘戦をさせられている気分になります。
・武装に幅が少ない（敵の密集度が少なく投下型爆弾の出番が無い、誘導性の点から空対空長距離ミサイルが無意味など）。
・地形のテクスチャの解像度が低い。雲と地面が同じに見えるほど。
・バグ多数（文字がウインドウを貫通する、機体が真っ白になる、音楽が一定間隔でループを繰り返すなど）。特に致命的だったのがミッション中の着陸補給バグです（残弾は回復するが使用不可になる）。
・耐久値が減った際の音がうるさい（個人的には悲鳴にすら聞こえるのでちょっと耳障り）
[総評]
定価で買うと少し割高感がありますが、お手軽にエースコンバットを感じられる良作だと思います。
ただし、フライト系初心者はミサイルの使用感から苦戦を強いられるかもしれません。ここが大きなマイナスポイントです。
また、実績が無いのも勿体なく思いました。トレーディングカードには対応しています。
エースコンバットのようなゲームを探している方にはオススメできる一作です。

I was a bit shocked that no one hs ever heard of this game.
This is pretty much a cheap and somewhat janky clone of Ace Combat. Nothing more, but also nothing less.
That was pretty much what I was looking for on Steam after playing AC7 And it works quite well for what it is!
Just wait for a sale on it.

I got my hands on this for 75p and I can defiantly recommend it considering the price. This is most defiantly an Ace Combat knock off but not a crappy one. The Graphics are mediocre and IMO the story is not very interesting, and I honestly think the visual novel parts in-between should just be cut... That being said if you can't afford Ace Combat 7 or have a weak computer than I highly recommend this! I don't know if it's just me, but the AI are much more brutal than Ace Combat's even at normal difficulty.
Personally, I was able to run this game at medium settings with a Core I5-6200U with Intel HD Integrated Graphics 520 and 8GB of DDR3 RAM at a stable(ish) 60fps with shaders on low and textures on full.
Un juego simple con variedad de aviones y misiones para jugar; cuenta con multiplayer, básicamente intenta emular la grandeza de los Ace Combat clásicos con una estética de anime, lo hace bien.
这游戏是典型的封面欺诈，封面那么大的一个绿毛猫耳萝莉（击中了我的好球区），结果在剧情里打了几次酱油就退场了（捂脸）。另外这游戏确实很像《皇牌空战0》，但是用手柄操控的手感不是特别好，感觉和皇牌空战还是有一点差距。但这个毕竟是同人游戏，再加上作者一个人承担建模、编程、以及美术，所以我给个好评吧。

PS：最近刚看完《戦闘妖精雪風》，突然发现Lighting和Yukikaze一模一样。
It's not a bad game, but I can't recommend to a general public- its heavily "doujin" quality, lot of places are bare bone and has tons annoying audio glitches (like music starts to loop on its own, or missile alert sound doesn't stop, no game credit ending)
Graphic on screenshot is what you get. There are graphic option to it, but I tried max and the game looked like less than PS2 but played around 10FPS. (fyi I can play Dark Souls3 with max setting with no issue, I do play on desktop) I don't mind if its not pretty to look at, however if it is not optimized correctly that's where I draw a line
The missiles are super short range that guns are more reliable to shoot down any air targets, and even rockets are easier to use than missiles. Plane design is nice, but it shares from all old raider sphere planes. Near the end the enemy planes has so much mobility that they can keep you on tail as long as they want, its really annoying to hear missile alert constantly, even worse if it loops.
If you truly love ace combat, you'll like this game, especiall Ace Combat 3. However, the game doesn't really cared much about the ending. It just concluded without having any resolution. I finished the final mission and it just went back to title screen left me to feel unfinished. None of the character ever developed anything, but that's quite typical of Rectagle game- older raiders sphere did exact same.

En resumen, un Ace Combat en anime. Bien optimizado y con buen apartado musical aunque algo duro de dominar .

Если вы фанат серии Ace Combat, то это игра почти целиком вдохновлена 3-ей частью, футуристичный сеттинг, подземный город и так далее. Однако, Raiders Sphere4th всё же преподносит свою оригинальную атмосферу, а уровень сложности Hard презренно смотрит на Hard Ace Combat'a с высока (говорю, как человек прошедший наверное все игры серии кроме 1-ой, ведь ракеты тут совсем не дураки). Брать, будь оно из любви к аркадным авиасимуляторам или пока ожидаем 7-ой АС - рекомендую. (А если читаешь это на момент, когда 7-ка уже приобретена - всё равно рекомендую, ведь тут тоже есть космический лифт с прикрепленным стоунхеджем!)
А если вы с вышеуказанной серией не знакомы, то вкратце:
+ Легко осваиваемое управление (рекомендую играть с геймпадом/джойстиком)
+ Хотя практически все миссии сводятся к "уничтожить приоритетные цели", этими целями могут быть типичная военная техника как танки, радары, противовуздушные установки или огромные рельсотроны, огромный лазер и флот воздушных крепостей.
+ Парк самолетов не большой, но и не маленький - чуть более 10, но каждый со своими хар-ми. Столько же видов оружия - ракеты и бомбы и ускоритель, который поможет в нужный момент оторваться от ракеты.
+ Сюжет (знание английского), но не идите сюда с завышенными ожиданиями. Он присуствует и сделан не лишь бы был для галочки, место действия описано и вкратце о всех сторонах четко поясненно, глав-персонажи имеют свои характеры и мотивацию. (см. минусы)
+ / - Графика. Данная игра не предназначена для лиц, зависимых от "4к hdr в нативе". Графика уровня ps1(локации, что придаёт шарм в определенных местах / ps2 (сами самолёты), нужна ностальгия по "старым денькам" - это оно самое.
- Музыкальное сопровождение - лишь 1-2 раза я слушал музыку, которая дополняла то, что происходило на экране.
- Повествование во время миссий - (только из-за того, что озвучка только на японском), пытался левым глазом следить за верхней половиной экрана, где английским текстом говорят про сюжет и что делать в данный момент, а правым следить за тем куда я лечу и одновременно радаром, следя за приближающимися ракетами. "Тяжеловато" Но в 90% случаев, вы пропустите детали повествования, что не критично, это всё перефразируют для вас в перерывах между миссиями.
- Сюжет, в плане антагонистов. Без спойлеров - слабо. Сам сюжет не блокбастер, но и не плохой.

If you can get past the jank and the difficulty this is a great flight game in the style of the old Ace Combats. Highly recommend using a controller.
RaidersSphere4th is a game that pays homage to Ace Combat, one of my favorite series. As such, it's hard not to compare the two, as one is directly influenced by the other. If you don't care to see the specific points, let me start this review by saying that if you are a fan of Ace Combat, this game is well worth your time. If you do wish to see some specific points, I'll start with the negatives.
Cons:
-Missions 21 and 27, which may be some of the most frustrating experiences I have had in a game. These WILL take several tries, and will cost a good chunk of your sanity.
- The graphics are below average at best, and awful at worst. While some plane designs are nice, the graphical texture quality of objects and landscapes throughout the game reminded me of Star Fox 64 for the Nintendo 64... which considering the time period, is not necessarily a good thing.
- Some people may not like the art style for the character sprites, although I found them fine and had no real issues.
- The game is fun on easy, a challenge on normal, and nlchaotically hard on hard. Certain missions are definitely harder than others, so playing the game at difficulties above easy may be frustrating.
- Outside of the main cast, the other characters and personalities aren't fleshed out very well.
Pros:
- An engaging storyline that, while not groundbreaking, was able to immerse me in the world of Raider Sphere, taking me on ups and downs, even throwing in a good deal if world building and some twists. Plus, it always feel cool to have enemy units start recognizing your Raider as a threat. It truly felt like your actions had a significant impact on the story.
- The controls and gameplay itself feel exactly like the Ace Combat games of old. The planes control extremely well, and the HUD is informative. To be concise, the game feels great.
- With the exceptions of 21 and 27, the missions are very engaging and are often unique. Different missions required different end goals, with a good mixture of dogfighting, all put skirmishes, and air to ground support. And while they didbt necessarily look that great, the different landscapes in each mission provide a unique flying experience from mission to mission.
- The characters are clearly a highlight in this game, which comes as a surprise given it's supposed focus on gameplay. Featuring a full voice over, our three mains are full of life and are each uniquely distinct. A lot of love and dedication went into the writing of these characters, and it shows.
- The soundtrack fits the game well and it serves as a great accompaniment to some of the missions.
All in all, Raider Sphere 4th is a game that pays a wonderful homage to Ace Combat while offering it's own unique story to tell, with a storytelling technique most similar to a visual novel. Featuring a fully voiced cast that does an excellent job, I highly recommend you to try out Raider Sphere 4th for yourself.
It is OK that the game does not have an in-stage save, and you have to start from the beginning of a stage when you're unfamiliar with the map or something that makes you run outta time.
It is also fine that the game sometimes lose texture and you are flying a white plane or seeing one-color ground. Just shut it down and restart.
BUT, when I choose "New Game" in the main menu by mistake, it wipe out my unfinished save without warning, so I have to start over for about 16 stages before I can play stage 17.
Also, there is a stage that you fly in to enemy base, "scout" it by fly over key structure very close. Then you just escape the base. In next stage, however, you bring weapons in again to destroy them.
Remap your controls to a standard, time-tested WSAD setup. Ignore all the special weapon types and just use your default missiles. Do not bother with missiles against enemy fighters - just chase them and use your gun when you get close. Do these things and the game will be a lot easier.
This is a clone of the early Ace Combat games on the playstation. Where those games focused mainly on aerial combat, however, this one primarily involves destroying ground targets. There are very few times in the game's 30 missions where you will need to engage in a fight with other enemy fighters.
The only two issues I had with the game were the inability to disable subtitles - they often block your view - and the lack of useful secondary weapons. Line up and launch a few of your ample supply of missiles and there is no need to get fancy.
All in all, it is a short game, but worth the $5 when it is on sale.
A less polished Ace Combat 3. Scifi jet flight and dogfighting, with a scifi twist. Cycling through the lock-on button to target who you want can be a pain, and the time limit for a few missions will push you. Otherwise a great time.
Won't hit anything for days and my ears hurt.

Feels like playing a PS2 game, actually. It's kinda nice that it has this nostalgic vibe to it.
For the best experience it is recommended that You use a controler!

今作RaidersSphere4thは、同人ソフトサークルRectangleによって製作された
3DフライトSTG「RaidersSphere」シリーズ最新作です
ストーリーは金星を舞台にRドライバー（小型戦闘機パイロット）の女の子が
国際紛争や陰謀に巻き込まれていくという導入になっていて
今までのRaidersSphereシリーズと比べて顔グラフィック表示や背景や立ち絵等が表示されるようになって少しカジュアルな雰囲気ですが
敵役キャラクターは今までのシリーズを考えると容赦なく撃墜していきそうなのでそういうのが苦手な人にはたぶん向きません
Rectangleの公式サイトで旧作や今作の体験版がダウンロードできるので自分に合っていそうか確かめましょう
金星の空は今までのシリーズと比べて飛びづらくて苦戦中です
旧作の2ndや3rdは航空写真を元にした首都圏が中心で馴染みの建造物や地形の上を飛ぶのが楽しかったりしたのですが
金星文明の巨大遺跡やら荒地が中心の今作はどこを飛んでいるのか解らなくなります
それでも手軽に購入できるSteam版という意味ではおすすめかな？
追記１（イージー、ノーマルをクリア）
ストーリーは2ndっぽい展開だったので予想通りに近かったかな
ゲーム部分は全30ミッションで今までのシリーズの集大成的なステージ構成と言った所
製作者が想定している全ての要素が入っているのはハードモードだと思われるのですが
慎重に敵を撃破していると時間切れで失敗になるという最強の敵は時間状態で
的確な操作での迅速な飛行を要求されます
初心者は最初はイージーから始めて機体や武器を集めましょう
イベントで乗り換えて入手できる機体だけでも使えるのもありますし
それと最強機体はイベントで終盤に強制搭乗になるので自由に機体を選択できるのは2週目やフリーミッションだけなので注意
追記２（ハードクリア）
40時間でイージーからハードまで全部クリアしました
ハードをクリアしても特に追加ミッション等はなし
残りは敵の殲滅クリアや好みの機体で各ミッションを攻略等のやり込み
といったところなのででこれでだいたい一通り遊んだ事になりますね
上手くないのでフリーミッション経由で武装変更したりしましたがまぁクリアはクリアでしょう
To put things in perspective: I'm an Ace Combat 2,4,5 and Zero fan, so there is a big chance that I'm biased towards the good stuff in this game, also I have never played any RaidersSphere game before.
With that in mind here goes a short review of RaidersSphere 4th...
The sound quality is not top noch, but the melodic, well arranged and overall memorable soundtrack makes up for it in spades. It is after all just as the rest of the game, heavily inspired by the good Ace Combat titles I mentioned earlier.
It is probably the best part of the game, but just as a soundtrack is suppose to, it lifts the atmosphere to the skies.
The graphics are unfortunately below average, which wouldn't bother me in the slightest (Xenogears is one of my favourite games), but for a game that revolves around flying, one would consider it crucial to have a decent skybox and a field of vision, which is not the case. The airplane and enemies models look decent and the cities look great. The airplanes themselves are inspired by real airplanes, with the exception of the "epic" ones. (can't say anything else without plunging into spoiler territory). The sky looks beter in some missions, but the average is not so good. Note that you won't be able to run the shaders at anything above "low" if you want to keep your frame rate anywhere acceptable. (not that they would help anyway)
Still the biggest problem lies in low res mountain and wall textures which make it, believe it or not, very hard to judge the distance to possible collision and it did cost me a few lives...
To speak more about lives, I who am usualy playing my flight games on harder difficulties was forced to switch this to EASY, after repeating several mission more then 10 times. I do use a Mad Catz flightstick, which could have been the reason behind it, and you might just be better with a gamepad, but don't say I didn't warn you.
The missions vary in their goals and never boring, also it's worth to mention that the voice over is in Japanese, which I don't mind, but they do have a LOT of dialogs during mission, sometimes even with valuable info regarding how to finish the said mission.
That being said, reading caption and trying to outmanouver up to six missiles at times made me crash more then once, but on the flip side; I had more then enough opportunities to read the dialogue enough times over to know it by heart.
Talking about the dialogue, the story is told trough a combination of mission briefings, mid-mission dialogue and a vissual novel of sorts (take it with a grain of salt, I don't ussualy read those, but it looks like one).
The main characters are well developed and it's not hard to notice that someone put some love into writing and designing them. They are not at all stand-ins, but interesting and entertaining more then one would expect.
What I found most lackings was the villain's character development. They are tipical and very straightforward, which is not necessarily a bad thing, because they fill their roles with no issues, but I can't shake the feeling that just a little bit more could have been done to make them memorable and unique.
The story itself has it's ups and downs. Combined with the soundtrack it serves you enough heartwarming, cozy and in contrast, ass kicking and inspireing moments.
The setting is imaginitive and well thought trough, while the plot keeps itself interesting enough for you to want to see where it ends.
And here we come to a point which saddens me the most; the ending, while awesomely done and epic, is still just that, an ending. There is no higher point to it, or even a twist to make it interesting. Not to say that any Ace Combat games anything different, but with a story otherwise well imagined, you will probably expect the ending to be somewhat different.
(this could be just my wishfull thinking though, and you may still enjoy the ending as it is, so take that as you will)
old school nostalgia enough said. story decently long and difficulty is pretty good especially on hard. fun and engaging as a fan of Ace Combat this game is a must to try out. will bring back memories when you get to fly the best planes.(Ace Combat fans will know what im talking about).
I bought this game due to the fact that I'm a fan of the Ace Combat series, and I expected to feel somewhat similar. I pretty much got that, for the most part. Most of the fictional craft resemble real ones to a point, with the superplane you get looking indentical to the Morgan from Zero. The gameplay is fairly similar to Ace Combat, with some missions focusing on ground targets, while others feature aerial battles. Some of these missions are also very unique, like one involving you to dive during ECM activations. The soundtrack is hit or miss, with some tracks being amazing, and others being on the "meh side. The story overall is pretty lackluster in my opinion, and somewhat predictable. Another issue is the inconsistent missile accuracy. Your missiles can't hit anything, while enemy missiles can home in on you for way too long. Overall, I'd say if you're an arcade flight fan, this is a game for you, but I'd recommend waiting for a sale.
::The Good::
Good variety of missions. I don't want to spoil anythings but there were missions that put a big smile on my face. Much better than I was expecting out of an indie air combat game.
The use of crowded urban settings and interior spaces offer some actual playing with the environment, as opposed to infinitely looping through open sky.
I didn't really come here for the story but it gets the job done, with some endearing, if familiar tropes. If you have an affection for anime style and political intrigue you'll be pretty happy with what's on offer.
Cool Raider(fighter aircraft) designs.
Ocassional manual takeoffs and landings are a nice little touch that makes everything feel a bit more real than a string of missions.
::The Bad::
Most of the flaws are understandable for an indie developer, but they are still flaws.
The textures are very low rez, kind of distractingly ugly on some of the aircraft.
Controller support got the job done for me on an xbox controller, however pitch and roll are not mappable. They were locked to the left stick. Only yaw is custom mappable. This didn't cause me any real gameplay issues but I prefer pitch and yaw on left stick roll on right stick. But hey, GTAV doesn't even offer analogue yaw control. Anyway the controller issue wasn't a big deal for me but I can see it breaking some people's setups.
Ocassionally unclear mission objectives, this wasn't a huge deal but some missions took a couple tries to understand what was going on.
One of the later missions has almost constant radio chatter for it's entire duration, which means there is a text box covering the top 1/8th of my screen the entire time. This made dogfighting a bit difficult since I couldn't easily see the enemy follow indicator. This was the only time I was just angry at the developers.
It supports VR headset but not headtracking so I don't really see how that's a meaningful feature.
::Bottom Line::
There's some good gameplay and charm here. It scratches an underserviced genre itch for those that can't get enough flying around. While the graphical production values are low I think it's worth mentioning in these early access days that the game is complete. I can't tell you if it's worth $20, that's gonna depend on how long it takes you to earn that much money. But If you're a fan of the genre, and you're not totally hung up on the dated graphics, I'd give this one a play.

This is a real-life fighter. Be calm and use mind.
It's not a bloom game. You may spend a lot of time looping around the goal.
Do not care about the scenery is better.

Do not go to a lot of questions, such as why the enemy aircraft penetrated the ground.

The game won't even start; I've tried launching it with different resolutions and with the shader options disabled. When I select windowed mode, it just gives me an error message with a string of random characters. The furthest I can get is a black screen.

This is a fun game. The default controls are complete crap though. Not to mention they don't set your yaw controls automatically either. So first thing when you open this game is go to config and do this:
W = Throttle Up
S = Thottle Down
A = YAW LEFT
D = YAW RIGHT
Q = Previous target
E = Next target
CTRL = change weapopn
SHIFT = rotary gun
SPACE = missle
Keep the arrow keys normal. Congratulations, you now have a much more playable game than what they give you.
Pros:
- The voice acting in this game is well done, all japanese, and even though the translation is definitely off sometimes it's still solid.
- Flying at high speeds and racing by doing bombing/missle unloads into enemies is great
- 16 hours of amusement
Cons:
- Textures suck on some maps and make it hard to tell if that's the sky, wall, or ground
- Map is only useful for seeing incoming missles and if you lose sight of your objective good luck finding it again
- That one mission when you have to follow the beeper near the end
Overall I enjoyed this game a lot despite its flaws. If you're looking for a decent flight simulator/visual novel then this can help you kill some time
