Storyline

This was really fun! I burnt myself out a bit in the postgame so decided to leave it at the true ending, the gameplay of Curse Crackers appealed to me way more overall, but I still enjoyed this for what it was. Loved interacting with the townspeople and unlocking more and more of the game.

This game really surprised me. Its a fun Zelda-like, with cool dungeons and puzzles. After a few hours you hit the credits but then realize that the majority of the game is all post credits / endgame content and side missions. That's what you'll spend most of your time doing and its honestly very worth it. I really grew to like these characters and world. There's just a nostalgic, cozy but also dark kind of vibe to it.

Fantastic game with way more to it than it seems at first. Highly recommend!

这就是传统游戏啊，路标几乎没有，人物不给标识，任务纯靠自己记，地图就给你一个大片区域的地图，接了什么任务也不知道，NPC随口一说我也不知道他这个是不是任务，虽然我玩着还行但是找人给我找麻了，而且还多亏了汉化组才能玩下去，牛魔那个狗屁像素字体英文能看下去真神人，这游戏真的什么都往复古那边靠，但是真的还可以，如果能接受复古游戏的话这个游戏还挺不错的。但我不怎么喜欢一个地图重复探索，得到新能力去旧的地方解密这种我非常不喜欢，而这个游戏真的很多这种设计。还有就是存档设计的非常非常垃圾

This game scratched my exploration itch! All of the other comments (including negative ones) are on point:
* You will love this if you love exploration and finding out stuff on your own through struggle, but
* You won't love it if you need guidelines, quest log, and detailed maps.

Now, what this game does best is not the music (it's excellent nonetheless), it's not the story (it's a classic hero's journey, solid), it's not the combat (it's very straightforward, you won't be cheesed with bosses that are hit point bags and there is only one health bar, yours) ... what this game does best is to have you figure things out on your own!

Let me explain, you have to pay attention to what is happening to know if you are damaging the bosses, the world will be reactive to your actions (within limits), and puzzles are cleverly crafted to the point where you have to sit there and think through your actions to find the solutions ... and then it takes a new turn, as expected of games like these, the puzzles get a new layer after you beat the end boss once (before 30 days) by forcing you to think about the way you've been solving them before (sometimes with brute force, try and error, but always using the tools you've been given in the way you've been taught how to use them) and try some new ways when the game makes you solve puzzles with less pieces available and sometimes without enough to solve the puzzles (or so it seems)!

Finally, you've got a final layer of difficulty with the Daemon and the Enlightenment castles ... those will teach you yet new ways to use your tools that if you figured them out before would allow you to cheese the puzzles, yes, but why would you have been able to figure them out in the first place anyway? And if you have done that, congratulations, you are an awesome gamer and I admire you :-)!

At any rate, do yourself a favor, play this awesome game, stop after 7-8 hours and having beaten the end boss once, or after 20 hours and having beaten him a second time (true ending?!), or after 30+ hours and having finished the post end game castles and found out the deep lore of that world ... meanwhile, don't forget that the community has put together guides that you can rely on when/if you are super blocked, it's okay, it's just a game and there is no right/wrong way to play it, there is only your way. Simply reflect on it to see if you were satisfied with how you did it afterwards and adjust your behavior moving forward, that's called life.

Original Legend of Zelda aesthetics, loads of puzzles. I appreciate the bosses not being obnoxiously tanky. A few nice tracks in the music too.

9/10. Games in the vein of Link's Awakening/the Capcom Zelda games (Oracle of Ages/Seasons and Minish Cap) are really rare, and while the movement in this one was a bit clunkier than I'd like (eight directional movement would've helped a lot, I think), it had a *lot* of heart and charm. The smaller scale of the setting as a town with a bunch of characters that your protagonist knew from childhood allows for more slice of life fitting in between the dungeoneering, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that there's a genuine romance subplot for a *bunch* of the girls as options, with marriage as an endgoal if the player chooses. The art style was also immensely nostalgic. This game is slept on as a spiritual successor to some of my favorite childhood games and on sale, it's a value proposition that can't be beat.
