[h3] 🍃 A Calm & Cosy Journey [/h3]

Planet of Lana was a really nice, chill game to sit down and relax with. My favourite takeaways were Mui and the world design.

Mui was a great companion to have, and added a lot of charm throughout. The world is stunning, with a mix of 2D & 3D looking environments, and the soundtrack is amazing for the atmosphere. The entire game has a really calm, cosy feel to it.

My only gripe was that the puzzles and stealth felt a bit repetitive by the end. The puzzles are enjoyable, with different ways of Mui aiding you, but there isn't much variety between them and they can be fairly simple to work out. My biggest struggle was during one of the puzzle sections where Mui needs to be navigated through a sort of wind tunnel with big fans, because he can died quite easily.

It is definitely on the shorter side, but I think the length suited the game's calm experience. [i] Ignore my total hours - I accidentally left the game open after playing once. [/i]

[i] Overall: Beautiful world, amazing soundtrack, adorable little companion. Repeated puzzles and stealth, but still a really enjoyable relaxing game. I'm excited to se what the sequel is like for continuation. [/i]

美しいグラフィックに、ちょうど良いもっさり具合のプレイ感。ハイスピードのアクションゲームがキツイ時間帯にピッタリでした。
成り行きで相棒になるネズミみたいな生き物が大変愛らしく、終盤のとあるシーンでは感動のあまり自分の飼育しているネズミを抱きしめました。ビックリして嚙まれましたが。
このゲームのネズミ(みたいな生き物)は噛んだりせずただただ頼りになる相棒なので、人間と動物のバディに弱い方はぜひプレイしてみてください。

画风真的特别美，剧情就像电影一样，不过游戏就会有代入感，主角的操作都是由你操作，有感动时刻，恐怖时刻，惊险时刻，紧张，开心赞叹等等情绪我在这7个小时都体会到了。我一直以为是一个中短的故事，但是总是会有新的场景出现，这也让我很期待很好奇结局。最后的happy ending也很顺其自然，反正我很喜欢，各个方面都是！！！

I picked this game up very cheap in a Steam Sale and knew nothing about it. I saw it had a high rating though and so there was nothing much to lose by purchasing it. I'm so glad I did because the whole game was such a great experience. The puzzles were just at the right level for me and nothing had me stuck for too long or needing to search online for help. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys platform games that require some thought to progress in. While a few parts require some precise jumping or timing, you are never placed too far back if you die because there is a very generous auto save system to protect you, which avoids that 'back to the start' frustration that some games force you into.

Для меня достаточно спорная игра, с одной стороны она напоминает геймплейно и нарративно такие хиты как Limbo и Inside.

С другой стороны, геймплей достаточно скучен, головоломки все однообразные и легкие, а места в которых ты затупишь - как правило просто реализованы не очень хорошо с точки зрения геймдизайна.

При этом, игра имеет приятную графику, милый посыл про спасение семьи и дружбу.

Моя оценка 5 из 10, на SteamDeck перед сном самое то, думаю 2 часть будет весьма достойным продолжением.

P.S. Трофихантерам - 92% достижений легкие, единственно сложное достижение пройти всю игру без смертей, даже в Limbo можно было пару раз умереть, но тут ван лав - ван трофи ))

It is pretty, it is cute. But it is sluggishly slow and draggy. I believe with no voices would hit better. It has a few mechanics and it uses them enough to justify them being there, but does not become a too complicated game. I thought I would feel more emotions but the story is simple and straightforward without many captivating moments. If you want some chill 4 hours of gaming, get this game.

Planet of Lana est un bon puzzle-plateformer dans la lignée des Limbo ou encore Inside même si les énigmes ne sont pas très compliquées.
L'histoire est simple mais la narration linéaire offre de magnifiques passages contemplatifs. Et la compagnie du petit chat Mui est très appréciable.
Le jeu est visuellement très réussi et offre une excellente bande son.

Il est parfaitement compatible avec la Steamdeck même si j'ai ressenti quelques baisses de framerate à certains moments.

لعبة جميلة جدا خاصتا الالغاز والغموض في اللعبة واعجتني انها طويلة من حيث وقت اللعب عكس كثير من المنافسين لا ادري لكن اظن ان الاستديو كان قادر على صنع لعبة بجرافيكس افضل من هذا على الاقل اشبه بالكوابيس الصغيرة اما العيب القاتل الاخر وهو مزعج حقا هو ان اللعبة بطيئة بشكل مزعج جدا كنت اتمنى لو توفرت على امكانية للجري على الاقل اما القصة فتبدو عادية نوعا ما والباقي كله في مستوى اخر تماما وانصح اي شخص يحب الغموض والالغاز ان لا يفكر مرتين ويشتريها

I love everything about this game. It had been collecting dust in my library for a while so I brushed it off since the sequel is out. The music, the environment, the puzzles, the cat.... I loved everything.
Every moment in this game is beautiful I have so many screenshots but that doesn't do it justice. The story is just the kind of stuff I love and the ending put tears in my eyes. I love that little cat blob. I wish I had pet it even more.

Визуал очень приятный, есть пара действительно классных загадок, особенно та, что связана с музыкой. Единственный минус — она ну очень короткая, полное прохождение занимает буквально 2-3 часа.

Planet of Lana just… felt nice to play. Not in a flashy, over-the-top way, just quietly beautiful the whole time.

The world pulls you in without saying much, and somehow you end up caring a lot more than you expect. Running around with Mui never got old, it actually made the whole journey feel kind of personal. The puzzles were just right too, enough to make you think a bit but never enough to ruin the mood.

And yeah, the music and visuals do a lot of heavy lifting, but it never feels forced. It’s just a soft, emotional little adventure that sticks with you after you’re done. Definitely one of my favourite games.

Чем-то напомнила Another World на Sega, такая же минималистичная подача и ощущение приключения.

Hermosa banda sonora, juego de puzzle y bueno la verdad mecanicas justas y necesarias como para disfrutar del arte visual y sonido. As a nature lover, I was lured into this game by the beautiful landscapes and great sound design! But then I came across some instances in the game where the developers are forcing you to kill some of the native wildlife (ie. boars) and then use their dead bodies to help solve puzzles. This was a huge put off for me so I stopped playing and have no intention of buying the sequel.

I mostly enjoyed this one. Mostly.

Nice graphics, nice sound. Voice "acting" mildly annoying but not too bad once you get past the prologue.

EXTREMELY linear, with only occasional chances to move a very short distance away from the main path to find a few collectables that don't seem to provide any real reward besides a hand-drawn sketch that "kinda sorta maybe" describes the backstory of the game (in a vague sort of way).

Figuring out MOST of the puzzles was fun, but hoo-boy, were there ever a handful of "OK, I know EXACTLY what to do, but getting the timing and/or positioning EXACTLY right could take a dozen (or more) times to get JUST right. At least you re-spawn right where you died, so it could've been worse.

[spoiler]A few "gotta run and/or jump and/or change direction FAST or else you die!" and "use these really annoying acceleration- and inertia-based controls to carefully manuever a flying robot through passages where even being a little bit off will insta-kill you" sections were extremely annoying, but there's no way to skip them.[/spoiler]

Gawd, if only there were a "run" button; character movement is slow, and there are many "just hold the stick to move right for what seems like minutes while background just goes by with absolutely nothing to do" sections. At first they were nice to look at, but after a while I just started yawning..

There were also a couple of flashback or dream-like sequences where you basically had to traverse the EXACT SAME section of environment that you already went through earlier in the game; this seemed like un-necessary filler and padding.

Switching between multiple characters, with different abilities, to solve puzzles and move past environmental or alien hazards was a lot of fun, but even so, as I started gettting closer to the end of the game, I started thinking things like "gosh, just how many more of these puzzle/obstacle things ARE there??"

Extremely clear indication of progress; if you haven't figured out the current puzzle, you're stuck there until you figure it out. One puzzle [spoiler]-- figuring out that you had to go backwards to find clues to the cave organ puzzle [/spoiler]-- was a "dirty trick" (you can't solve it without doing something that I don't think any other puzzle in the game requires you to do).

HERE's THE BIGGEST PROBLEM: "Planet of Lana II" is available now, and I initially was prepared to buy it in order to get more of an understanding of the very vague, only barely hinted-at story of "Planet of Lana", but several reviews indicate that "Planet of Lana II" basically ends on a cliffhanger, so one would have to wait for a "Planet of Lana III" (and/or IV, and V, and ...?) to finish the story, and who knows how many years that will take, IF EVER???

I would say grab this one on sale if you like fairly simple puzzles, with some neat co-op mechanics (NOT multiple players; SINGLE player controlling multiple characters), but don't expect a whole lot of information about what is going on, and why, and how everything in the world came to be in the state that it is ...

Planet of Lana, un cinematic platformer dans la droite lignée d’Éric Chahi.

Peu de surprises : le jeu va exactement là où on l’attend, surtout si l’on connaît l’évolution du genre. Phases de plateformes sidescroller 2D, tableaux avec des puzzles environnementaux, progression ponctuée de séquences plus contemplatives. Le tout est porté par une gestion du rythme exemplaire, fidèle à celle de ses ancêtres.

Mais là où un Chahi brillait par une certaine noirceur et une brutalité assumée envers le joueur, Planet of Lana est plus doux et guidé, nettement moins punitif. La progression est soigneusement balisée pour favoriser un apprentissage fluide, sans jamais brusquer le joueur. Cela en fait un jeu plus accessible, presque familial, avec des personnages bienveillants et une créature compagnon tout mignonne.

La narration environnementale fonctionne efficacement. Le mystère est présent, le lore est suggéré sans être totalement explicité. Même si l’ensemble reste assez lisible en surface, on devine quelques pistes plus intéressantes à creuser.

Pourtant, je ne me suis pas vraiment senti impliqué. Sans doute à cause d’une mise en scène trop peu subtile, de moments chargés d’émotions trop appuyés, et d’une bande-son très cinématographique qui force un peu le trait.
J’avoue que certains passages m’ont même paru un peu cringe.

Visuellement en revanche, difficile de ne pas saluer le travail : les décors peints à la main sont magnifiques et offrent une belle variété d’ambiances. Un vrai plaisir pour les yeux.

J’ai quand même suffisamment aimé pour relancer les chapitres afin d’y dénicher les quelques sanctuaires que j’avais manqué. Pas de grosse révélation qui viendrait bouleverser la lecture de l'œuvre, malheureusement, juste la confirmation de ce qui était déjà bien évident.

Au final, Planet of Lana s’impose comme un bon cinematic platformer d’initiation, voire une excellente porte d’entrée au jeu vidéo. Il maîtrise parfaitement son accessibilité, mais au prix d’un confort qui limite son impact. Là où Limbo ou Inside osaient le malaise et l’ambiguïté pour renouveler le genre tout en le rendant plus lisible et moderne, Lana reste dans la zone d’une production grand public.

La banda sonora es genial, la historia y acción perfectas, y visualmente está curradísimo.

Toma clara inspiración de La guerra de los mundos y Encuentros en la tercera fase.

Es el primer juego de un estudio Indie Sueco, y por 2€ de verdad creo que debes probarlo.

This little game was so delightful. I loved the art style throughout the whole game and I enjoyed the storytelling without using words we could understand. Mui is absolutely adorable and I would do anything for that little pal.

I enjoyed trying to figure out how to safely get past the bully robots and the music was sooo good. Definitely worth checking out. It didn't feel like it asked too much from the player even as a platformer.

Certainly I wanted to like this - fans hype it up as the 2020s successor to Inside (2016) - a cinematic platformer about a vulnerable character 'on the run.'

I do love Inside (and Limbo), but Planet of Lana was so underwhelming.

In a nutshell: this game asks nothing of the player. For two hours, you can simply hold right, occasionally jump, and occasionally go through the motions of something that vaguely mimics a puzzle but is so simple that you're always on auto-pilot. This is made much worse by the way the game lags behind your intentions. You come to an obstacle, you work out what to do almost instantaneously, and then it's a bunch of very slow half-jogging & long animations.

(I'm also not against "cozy" games, but there are better options)

You can find a complete playthrough of Planet of Lana on Youtube that clocks in at 3 hours and 25 minutes. Possibly, you would get more out of watching that at 1.5x speed than you would playing through it yourself.
