Great game
An inventive spin on the classic "tower offense" style of gameplay that Knuckle Cracker has refined to near perfection. Also has arguably the best soundtrack in the entire Creeper World franchise, and that is saying something.

I don't really know how to describe it, other than it just isn't a fun game to play.
the campaign isn't very rewarding and feels like your fighting an uphill battle for little to no gain
the enemy can be pretty much the same the entire match, only to then go completely on its head with nothing built up for it causing complete chaos if you don't 1000+ iq predict it.
it just isn't for me.
Particle Fleet: Emergence, A Creeper World Story is both a wonderful deconstruction of the core Creeper World premise and the game with the most subtitles that I've ever played. Lots of fun, and lots of ways to go about solving the many levels. There are also great options to design your own ships and fleets and take on all kinds of new problems all on your own.
i've come across knuckle cracker almost 10 years ago, and the entire creeper world saga is amazing. each game ended up better than the previous.

Best game in the creeper world universe! Navigation and controls are intuitive. Story is compelling and adds to the overall universe lore. Would love to see a more expanded story campaigns and long term I think this would make some great multiplayer.
This is in my opinion the absolute best game in the Creeper World franchise. The fact that ships get partially destroyed so that you can maneuver them to preserve the guns you want is so cool and makes for a very fun experience.

J'ai testé succintement les autres de la série (Creeper World) et c'est de loin celui-ci qui m'a embarqué.
Histoire est chouette, les mécaniques de jeux arrive progressivement au fur et à mesure de la campagne, avec des ressorts scénaristique pour justifier leur arriver progressive.
Le gameplay est à la fois suffisament simple pour être facile à prendre en main et suffisament complexe pour ne pas être lassant à mon gout (15h de jeu).
Seul bémol : en mode campagne, la possibilité de concevoir des vaisseaux sur mesure n'est pas exploitée (on peut le faire mais ça ne débloque pas la mission suivante, et les module de vaissseau sont tous disponible dès le début, ce qui peut expliqué l'effet "triche" par rapport à l'équilibrage de la campagne).
Bref, je recommande chaudement aux amateur de combat spaciaux, de RTS, de puzzle-game, et pourquoi pas aux nostalgique d'Outpost 2 et sa rouille.
Got thrown this way after finding creeper world 4, then 3, then IXE, THEN being forced by the community to go try this instead.
It's one of the absolute top 10s on steam to me now.
This is probably the most glad I've ever been that I tried out a recommendation, because I like this a little more than any other tower defense I've ever played and feel like I won't come across this quality in gameplay ever again. Specially seeing as IXE is missing the ship builder and was basically supposed to be the "decade later" version of this developed by seemingly the only humans that can pull this off... particle fleet emergence and a remaster of it one day might literally be the only top quality ship based tower defenses that humanity will ever see.
I have no idea how I have so many hours in this game.
The story isn't especially interesting. The gameplay is very satisfying. The strategy is very fun.
If the price isn't a concern, it's probably worth a try.

Spielt sich leicht anders, macht aber genau so viel Laune.
Durch viele Communitymaps kann man zig Stunden spielen.
Für Achievementhunter sehr gut geeignet. Wenn man die gesamte Story durch hat sind auch alle Achievements fertig^^

genuinely one of my favorite comfort games. easy to learn and get into with lots of room to learn and become more efficient. Basic graphics that make whats on the screen very clear and understandable. Damage done and taken is very visually pleasing while making sense. Campaign is replayable as well as a seemingly inifinte amounts of player made maps allows for the ability to play for many hours w/o getting stale.
One of my favorite games and will forever with for a sequel

This game is absolutely exciting and challenging. The features and variety grow with each level. It's both relaxing and calming. Tactics and planning make this game a pleasant pastime. It's primarily played with the mouse; a controller isn't really suitable. I've already completed this game three times and am currently playing it for the fourth time. Highly recommended.

Creeper world with less attractive physics but more dynamic gameplay where you have an army of ships that you are constantly moving on the map. If you want to you can easily can get hooked by the campaign.

It's pretty good, I'm not far into the campaign but it is challenging. And the music is delightful, I listen to it outside the game. Seems at this time I have 8 parts left from 20. It'll be a hike. Have fun!

It's a fun puzzle game/occasional interactive screensaver.
Great game for when you just want to chill. There is an endless amount of user made maps to play.
So, if you liked CW1 and 2, you can play with confidence. Read other reviews for gameplay pros and cons; personally I didn't have much trouble with the user interface, but your mileage may vary. Also I found the game easier to beat than CW1 or 2. Note! -- don't try to beat the game using a fleet of your own design, the story won't advance. (But you can go back and replay the story using your own fleet and crush the game speedily.)
If you've read reviews complaining about the story being some kind of hopeless timeloop, I won't spoil the details but I'll give a brief explanation.
1.) The "prologue" is actually an "epilogue" to the epilogue. The final mission explains what's happening in the "prologue".
2.) The game timeline is linear, and for game story purposes starts in the "naivety" first mission.
3.) The story is a sequel to CW2 and 1. But not an immediate sequel. Plot has happened since CW2 and eventually you'll uncover the plot which will also (sort of) explain the "particulate" "emergence".
4.) The game does end with a hopeful hook into CW3, which I haven't played yet so I don't know how well it will really fold into the ongoing plot. (So I may remember to update this review once done. I've read indications the plots don't fold well, and this game does just flat ignore some plot details developed in CW2 while recontextualizing what was supposedly going on there.)
Story is OK but short, the rest is just horribly unbalanced

Honestly, I prefer Creeper World 3 over this for a better value, replayability and fun. That isn't to say Particle Fleet isn't worthy, it's a much shorter game (albeit I didn't spend time on custom ships or community maps) that brings refreshing mechanics and ways to play the game in the same engine - controlling limited ships instead of towers.
The game focuses a lot more on strategic positioning than being able to rush, with a sense of [i]capture the flag[/i] for expanding energy production (e.g. there's no reactors building, only terrain mining). Technically speaking, it works, but in practice I found myself having less fun than ❤️❤️❤️❤️ing around and finding out, pushing the game to its limits.
Some later missions are kinda hard: the ships have weak spots in their back (losing thrusters is almost guarantee death), enemy emitters are unforgiving fighting you back aggressively when damaging them, and it's easy to get overwhelmed on micro-managing good positions for 6+ ships. Wouldn't say it's stuff to avoid, there's a nice challenge in this.
All achievements are easily obtainable in ~4-5 hours of gameplay, by finishing the campaing.
Pro tips:
• Use all your EMP points in tech, especially range, defensive cannons. Ship upgrades aren't that much worth it,
• Spamming and moving collectors in the enemy terrain is very effective to capture land, let the cannons do the job.
• If you're stuck in level 15 and 16 with that Big Bertha cannon eating you (like a lot of reviews lol), just hide your main ship behind the top left terrain and add one or two decoy ships in front (can be a hammer), keep cover in the terrain always. You'll lose ships often, but rebuilding them is not an issue on safe terrain.
Worth on a sale, definitely not full price unless you have a history of sinking hours and hours in community maps!

So... Knuckle Cracker games have always struggled hard with story, characters, plot, etc. I'm still a fan because the mechanics and base gameplay loop totally make up for it.
I just couldn't with this one. Something about the noble CEO taking his corporation out into deep space to self-sacrifice for... other corporations? It's not even political, it's simply bad.

Игра слишком однообразна. Корабли вроде бы отличаются друг от друга, но в любом случае кем попало закрываешь дыры, откуда идут частицы и прорываешься к генераторам основным кораблём прикрывая его. Если он помер чуть отвести назад страдающих от нехватки энергии и заспавнить обратно. Повторить. Интересно только первые минуты каждой миссии, а потом начинается скучная зачистка с частым нажатием паузы. И я почему-то ожидал увидеть немного переработанную вторую часть.
Плюс: первое впечатление от музыки отличное, но треков очень мало и уже на 5-6 повтор просто выключил

More goodness. The player made maps are the real meat of this game. Their fantastic work makes the amazing bones of this game sing.
Fun puzzle game.
Awesome game, keep going back to it when I can't figure out what else I want to play. Easy to pick up and play, but you get a real sense of improvement as you continue playing. Then when you start making your own ships and doing maps that other people have made it's a whole new world.

Awesome game. I haven't played this sort of game before. Lots of fun. Sometimes relaxing. Sometimes stressful. I love that players can build maps for others, which makes it very replayable after you finish the campaign.
I beat this game... but I hate this game... but I love this game.
It does scratch an itch like Creeper World 3, I like the concept, and love the custom ships people create. However... the main campaign and ship designs kind of suck. Many become useless after a few missions. And there are some heavy hitters but everything else feels kind of meh. The story was... honestly boring. And the ending kind of made me not enjoy the whole experience. Since it took like roughly an hour per level. Spoiler Alert: [spoiler] You die like in the prologue creating maybe an infinite loop or something. [/spoiler] I hate those stories, awful.
The challenges can be interesting but don't feel like natural continuations of the game. Making custom ships is interesting but not always clear whats a good design and what is overly engineered.
This feels slightly lower than Creeper World 3, but higher than 2 and 1.

This franchise as a whole is a classic. Gotta love it.
It's different, simple and fun. Also, like other "Creeper World" games. The community missions are insane.
So far so good. In the vein of Creeper World of course, but different enough to be "slightly fresh" ^_^
Only on mission five, soundtrack is kicking ass (but may become worn if there's not more variability). There really is no good info on stats and such in the tutorial or UI, that I have found anyway.
It's like, "here's a ship with four different rings around it, good luck! Also it has a 'lathe', figure it out!"
I just disabled the weapons one by one to figure out what each ring was, and it seems easy enough to figure out the basics.
It just keeps nagging a little in the back of my mind that maybe some things does... other things as well, and I just don't know about it. Anyway, it's playable and so far enjoyable ^_^

Fun little strategy game. Similar to the creeper world series, but a bit different. I played the 1 player campaign, but never got into it enough to custom design ships or levels.

Loads of fun until mission 15 where suddenly there is a cannon on the other side of the map which one-shots one or more of your ships once per minute with no warning and no way to block the shot. Spent a solid couple hours doing my best to try different strategies, follow walkthroughs, to no success. Learning that the following mission features two of those cannons was enough for me to quit and uninstall. Too bad, was loving the game up until that point.

Would recc overall, but keep in mind the base game is way shorter then my playtime (which is mostly on custom maps)
if your not a custom map sorta guy (its really easy in this game to play them) then i would keep that in mind before buying.
Buy the game, play the campaign, then in the menu go to "EXCHANGE" and filter for Text: c. wars remastered
And then go play all the fun maps I made :)

The idea behind PF:E sounds interesting, but it just didn't work very well in practice.
Providing only a limited quantity of ships was a huge drawback.Level strategies ended up feeling pretty much the same:
Sit and wait while building the same ships you used to beat the last level then slowly move them around the map.
Maybe pick up a new ship that might be useful (and therefore add it to that same group of ships you always build).
It doesn't help that a lot of the early levels can be easily beaten using only your "Corporate HQ" ship.
Custom ships could have been fun, but ended up feeling unbalanced and easily made the game even more boring.
It felt a lot like at some point after CW3 the developer decided to switch from focusing on well-balanced and fully realized single-player strategy/puzzle games to sandbox games focusing on community-made content.
Unfortunately, without a good core game it's difficult to build an active and engaged community.
I was looking for something that would come close to the feel of Conquest Frontier Wars 2D look, supply lines and visible projectiles being fired from the ships, a little like Gratuitous Space Battles. This game has all those elements. I was intrigued by the premise of fighting a not so typical enemy in the particulate vs traditional class ships. I have never played any of the Creeper World games before so this was new to me. I Like it, the ship capabilities were easy to grasp and I enjoy watching the particulate, even as it's overwhelming me. The Land grab with the Omni's took me a while to understand the concept and figure out why they kept getting blown up. So yeah, two thumbs up.
Maybe it's a failure of my own expectations more than the game, but I wanted the promise of being able to design your own ships to solve levels. Instead you have to beat the level with the predesignated ships first, before being allowed to use your own ship designs to replay the level.
Maybe I will give it another chance, but at least for now expectation vs reality ruined my experience.
At first, I didn't really like this game. A big reason for that is the game does a poor job of explaining what each weapon does and how certain mechanics work. Additionally, the default ships are fairly underwhelming, which can make it feel like most of them don't have much of a niche. However, once I replayed the game, spent time making custom ships, and did lots of playtesting with them, I was able to understand what everything does. This game is very fun once you know what you're doing and built your own fleet. The campaign is the weakest point of the game. Its real strength comes from the ship editor, map editor, bonus missions, etc. You should just play the campaign to learn the CW lore, while the real experience starts *after* the campaign. It's an excellent game that just does a poor job of advertising its strengths to you.

Nah not really. The campaign feels like a clumsy tutorial, but the mechanics are not really explained. It seems to have some kind of story, but the cringe dialogues are hard to enjoy. The first few minutes of each level are certainly interesting, but once a map is stabilized, you cannot really lose anymore and the rest becomes a chore. May 10%-20% of the time spent were actually fun and engaging.

I say recommend to people who can't get enough of Creeper World, but not so much for anyone hoping for something new. I'm pretty sure the story itself shares the same universe based on some character name references, but the exposition wasn't very engaging and I couldn't be bothered to read everything.
The general feel is extremely similar to Creeper World, except you get limited number of units.
Tried playing a bit more after the story, and I find it has all the frustrating points that I felt with CW, but more because progress feels slower. It's way too easy to get overwhelmed, and most of the time I can't figure out what is going on. With CW it was easy to figure out which units were good for advancing, which units were good for crowd control, which were good for defense, etc. Here I've finished all the main campaign and I still can't figure out what weapons and ships are actually doing crowd control, if there even is any. There seems to be several types of enemies but it is difficult to distinguish which weapon is killing which. There's a bunch of exposition talking about the ships when they are introduced, but with all the made up jargon I can't tell if they're talking about that weird looking structure or that other moving blob.
Knuckle Cracker has always delivered with these games and I enjoy playing ALL the releases from the developer.
Great game! I quite enjoyed how well this game scratched my time management, resource management, ant tactical thinking simultaneously. I struggled a bit with the mechanics and found the resource dispersion a bit confusing. But overall a great innovation on the standard creeper world series. 90% would recommend!
It was interesting but not really fun. I still may have given it an thumbs up except the final mission of the story mode my monitor went nuts and the brightness kept flashing such that could not ply it.

It also probably takes place in the same universe as the creeper world stuff. is what i thought before i got past level 15. anyways. there's more text exposition than normal creeper world games, so if you don't like that then you might not enjoy the story as much.
