A cute whimsy game with lots of story. Theres so much content i´ve been playing for days and havent even reached half of it. 10 chapters and 20 large maps to explore.

Like Tomb Raider mixed with Unreal Tournament.
And the occasional Wario Land like strange but fun puzzles.
Extremely fun and often punishing on harder difficulties (like playing UT2004 against 20 godlike bots)
Lovable bratty main character and Story, and the humor is also great.
And the Game is huuuge with lots of replayability on the custom game modes.

There's Jank though, some Areas are unpolished und slightly buggy, however there aren't serious bugs like where could fall through a floor.
And some of the Teleporter Puzzle maps are a crime against humanity though with how hard they are.

If your a dad an by this game for your kids, then be prepared to be the one solving the punishing puzzle maps. Like my dad solved the hard parts of Megaman on my Gameboy back in the day.
(This could be good though, who doesn't want to be in dad-mode when the little ones can't beat the game level and call dad)

Also this game is really heavy in some maps, my 7900xtx barely gets 70fps at 4K

The time & love the devs have put into the game is unreal, with the amount of content, unreal amount of weapons and constant new updates that always seem like new medium sized DLCs.

Extremely underrated game. Would strongly recommend.

Dommage car il avais du potentiel avant d'arriver aux Pierres dimensionnelles.
Car une fois récupéré les deux pierres et que l'on retourne au portail une seule est prise en compte.
J'ai passé des heures à essayer de résoudre ce problème qui semble fréquent et bien connus, en testant toutes les pseudos solutions que j'ai pu trouver sur internet et rien y fait.
La seule solution serait de recommencer à zéro, ce que je ne ferais pas car il n'est pas exclu que le bug ce reproduise.
Et de plus les devs semblent préférer publier du contenu supplémentaire plutôt que résoudre les bugs de celui déjà existant.
Donc il met impossible de recommandé ce jeu car ce genre de bug qui bloque totalement la progression sont inacceptable.

This action adventure plays much like Serious Sam, but with more open and varied levels than SS's open arenas. You will frequently be fighting hordes of opponents, which have a decent variety to keep you on your toes. Bouts of frantic shooting are broken up by level exploration, traversal puzzles, simple logic puzzles, and a shocking amount of secret hunting in the massive play areas.

Most notable is that this game looks really nice, and the movement and gunplay feels tight. The cute artstyle generally holds up throughout the entire game and the environments, whilst not extremely detailed, are varied. You will find a lot of lovely set pieces and scenes calling out to classic game and movies. The music is decent enough and helps set the whimsical tone of the game.

In addition to this extremely long main story mode, there are some shorter pick-up-and-play modes, though I have not played them enough to comment. They seem fine but I think will be more interest to Co-op players, which is still under development (I think split-screen co-op is available at time of this review but not online co-op).

Let-down is polish. Some parts of the game are pretty rough, and there are some known bugs that are game-stoppers. They can often by remedied by a quit/reload, but are still disappointing. The entire game is playable though and there is a serious amount of content. With the small dev team, it is unlikely they will get the entire game polished up anytime soon, but they have continued to chip away at it.

If you can overlook the numerous small flaws then as an entire package, Onirism is a real gem. Just set your expectations accordingly for a game of its budget. Parts of it are rough, but are slowly being fixed and improved by the Dev team.

Zumindest hat das Spiel sehr viel Scharm und für den Preis wow echt heftig was entwickle in acht Jahren gemacht hat bitte noch auf Deutsch zumindest dann wär es deutlich besser

Cute, colorful, and full of passion; that's what describes Onirism. The long and challenging adventure mode will keep you hooked for hours. There is plenty of stuff to loot, like guns, gadgets, upgrades, and hidden treasure chests. The playground mode looks very promising for future online co-op (At the moment, you can play up to 4 players in local co-op). You still can play these game modes alone with bots. Carol has lots of character customization (you can customize her more freely in Adventure mode). No DLC or microtransactions required to get all these cosmetics, which is a big plus for this game.

Three hours into the game. Graphics 10/10 Sound 10/10 Music 10/10 Only draw back so far is some jank platforming. Spent an hour watching Carol die in a lava bath lol. Nice shout out to Crash Bandicoot platforming. Get it while its on sale!

En tant que fan inconditionnel de peluche, ce jeux étant clairement fait pour moi, l'histoire est simple mais efficace, j'ai farm le jeux pendant une semaine complète juste pour en connaitre le dénouement.

le doublage VF est excellent (dans un sens logique vu que c'est theoriquement la VO)

en grande majorité je n'est rien a redire sur le jeux si ce n'est quelque bug si et la (mais bon aucun jeux n'est parfait)

au total en prenant mon temps d'explorer j'ai mis 43h en difficile de quoi vous occuper un bon moment ^^

This game should receive some more recognition, like, I appreciate there's an option to transform the game into a first person shooter. There's so many cute and charming references to things like Serious Sam (I guess I see why that bundle exists)

About the game from my experience with it: Plot wise, there's nothing ground-breaking. Bad guy took your thing, you go get your thing back; Pew pew pew, bam bam. if you ever wanted the Hat Kid from A Hat in Time to start blasting foes with a wide assortment of an creative and innovate arsenal, now you've got it.

I have yet to experience the challenge since I just got it but I'll (probably) update my review

4.7 hours in the game and it was enjoyable except for all the glitchy platforming and the fact the the game gets a steady 30fps in some areas making it so hard to even progress any platforming. The fights are fun like serious sam. That does not make up for performance, I was recording this game for youtube and it straight up was amazing for a while then just started to dip in performance and cause my mic not to work while recording some times. All and all 4 out of 10.

Great game, certainly a crew to watch for future titles.

Like ratchet and Clank (kinda) but with a sassy badass kid who will get her bunny back no matter what gets in her way.

(Issue I thought I had due to update was due to a hardware issue and the game is fine, sorry for jumping the gun as I was tired and bummed out :D )

At a high level, this game reminds me of Ratchet n Clank but with a lot more bells and whistles. While I mention that franchise specifically, the game pays homage to many. For example, in the first zone, there is a temple area that feels like a fusion of Crash Bandicoot mixed with the nali temples from Unreal 1998, with jump pads and teleporters like from Quake Arena and an onslaught of enemies like Serious Sam (there are actually enemies that run at you holding a bomb and screamin like Serious Sam), and as another, the volcano cave has some vaguely Super Metroid iconography. If you're a fan of 90s / 2000s games there is a lot of fanservice you'll pick up on.

While exploration and shooting is the main focus, there are optional challenge areas that mix things up. One area has you sliding down a giant hill with twists and turns like in Mario 64. Another has you platforming over a river reminiscent of Crash Bandicoot.

The amount of content you get for the price is amazing. You have a single player campaign, a multiplayer arena shooter mode (just bots right now, which itself is an option you don't see much anymore and should be applauded), and a couple different survival/horde modes with many different maps to choose from. The number of guns is probably close to 100 with the number of outfits probably being in the same area. You also have 2 gadget slots that you can use as much as you like (pending cooldown) so you can go nuts with them too... things like grenades and the like. There are so many ways to approach each battle with all these options and thats without mentioning there is melee combat, ability to go prone, sliding, swimming, vehicles, etc.

The game visually looks great and has a surreal and colorful quality that suits its dreamlike setting, something absent in a lot of modern games desire for photorealism. There is a good variety of enemies with designs ranging from creepy to cutesy "I feel bad for blowing them away". On normal, the difficulty of the game is on the easier side while just exploring, but you will occassionally get locked into combat arenas which is where most of the challenge comes from. There are also boss battles to mix things up.

My critiques would be some of the level design & map, music, the story (that ive seen so far) and game stability.

The levels, while pretty, can be quite elaborate and there are often sections of it blocked off until you get certain abilities. This isn't anything new for games but the map here isn't very useful so you will be doing a bunch of running around trying to find those spots again when you can actually access them (if you even remember them). The ability for the player to add notes to the map if the game wont automatically would be appreciated. As a OCD collector, I really would like improvements in this area. And making basic things like climbing a ladder an unlock ability was pretty lame.

The music is not bad, but is sort of generic and forgetable. On a related note though, the voice acting from all the characters is generally pretty good! It sounds like people had fun recording their lines and it comes through. There are some voice actors here that you will probably recognize. The Professor character for example plays Old Kai / Elder Kai from Dragonball. Carol herself sounds vaguely familiar but I can't place it. Also, it's minor but sometimes the words being spoken don't exactly match the text.

As for the story - it's pretty basic. Bad guy takes a doll from the heroine and she chases after them. She doesnt really react at all to being transported to another world, and maybe that's the point if its aping shooters from yesteryear (Duke Nukem: "those aholes shot down my plane, I'll make them pay" and then story exposition is over.) but I feel like its selling itself short because this is not a simple FPS. I'm not expecting a complex narrative with deep character development but I think the opening events could have benefited from a cutscene where the heroine is reacting to this new world and told us a bit more about herself. That said I'm still relatively early in the game so my opinion could change. Carol (the protag) herself is kind of a mixed bag to me. Design wise she's sort of a blank canvas with a large variety of outfits to choose from - that said some of her proportions look off to me. Namely, the small feet yet large hands. Some 'Wreck it Ralph' going on... not a big fan but this is being nitpicky. Some things she says during gameplay actually made me chuckle, others made me cringe or roll my eyes. I guess in a sense that means they did a good job portraying someone around her age. Her voice acting itself (for the English VA at least) performing various actions during gameplay can be kind of grating, but again.. maybe thats the point. During cutscenes she's fine. As a character, she is a good person at heart - hates bullies and defends the weak which is great.

On that note, I know some people have weird hang-ups about playing a game where the story revolves around a young girl and the cutesy pink aethestic. This is a game for all ages and genders, no different than Zelda Wind Waker or Majoras Mask where you control a young boy's adventure, Pokémon or countless others. Mark it as private if you must but don't let insecurity or some perceived potential judgment from idiots rob you of what I think you'll find is an enjoyable experience.

The game is still receiving free updates even post it's 1.0 launch which is admirable and shows this is passion project if it wasn't clear already from the sheer amount of content. I don't often write reviews but this is one of the few games I felt compelled to because this is a small indie team pouring their soul into something and asking for commensurately little in return. That said, the game is prone to crashing when loading into levels in the current release. Hopefully these updates will address this.

In summary, this game remembers what games were always meant to be: fun. Come in with an open mind and you will definitely get your moneys worth.

Очень странный экспириенс. Визуально хорошо только в нескольких локах (не первых). Геймплей к сожалению который тут на чуть ли не на сотню часов такой унылый что плакать хочется, просто на фортнайт накатили скин получилось вот это. Игра возможно раскрывается на каком-то часу 20-30 но это еще пережить максимально всратое начало придется. Контента если коротко дофига и видно что инди разработка хорошо, вот только отточенного геймплея так и не получается, тут уж совсем аляповато все ощущается

好玩，终于把冒险剧情打通了。
游戏的冒险故事可能没那么吸引，只是讲述Carol追回她的玩偶Bunbun的过程，以及一路和不同的伙伴，或者敌人互动。
游戏的武器数量就如游戏的介绍上所说的，真的多到都不晓得该用哪一把武器，而且每把武器都有其独特的特性，有的能击退敌人、有的能使用狙击瞄准、有的能造成点燃或者冰冻。
关于游戏内冒险剧情遇到的Boss战，或者路途遇到的冒险，其实还蛮精彩的。比如在空中滑翔、水里冒险、小部分跑酷、在现实空间和恶梦空间里来回移动，或者能让人玩得好像在打东方弹幕的Boss，或者操控时间的Boss，还是需要某些特定方式才能打败的Boss，都能给出不一样的体验。
不过游戏呢... 还是存在一些问题，或者说是Bug，有些是武器显示错误；有些是在操作过于频繁（同时按键太多和太快的情况）会导致Carol突然无法使用近战攻击，有些则是某部分墙壁可以直接穿透，跑出地图外面，但这些还是不能影响到我的游玩体验啦... 不知道其他人是怎么看的呢？
除了让我玩到超过100个小时的冒险，还有其他的游戏模式，目前我还没体验噢... 这边就不先多描述了。最后说一句，游戏内有中文，但不建议用，我根本不知道他的中文是怎么翻译的...

Серьёзный сэм за сильную и независимую девочку, у которой спёрли плюшевого зайца. Напоминает Джона Уика, который за собачку вырезал кучу народа, здесь то-же самое, геноцид всех и вся, ради того чтобы просто вернуть игрушку.

Оружия тонна, но патроны кончаются за минуты и приходится снова долбить врагов зонтиком или отбиваться стандартной пукалкой. Импакта от оружия вообще не чувствуется. Транспорт на уровнях невероятно дубовый и легче пешочком прогуляться, а локации тут хоть и довольно красивые но совершенно пустые, прям как оригинальный сэм. Карта совершенно бесполезная, бывает даже не понимаешь куда идти и что делать, т.к. в журнале просто пусто. Наматываешь круги, пока ЧИСТО СЛУЧАЙНО не наткнёшься на какой-то триггер или кнопку.

Сам геймплей довольно олдскульный, быстрый, без всяких новомодных приколов. Есть неплохой юмор, всякие сценки времён игрушек Playstation 3. Но всё это очень плохо тянет на версию 1.0, надо ещё допиливать и допиливать. Пока на троечку.

Отличный пример качественного инди проекта
+Красочная и сочная крафика
+Разнообразие локаций на самую разную тематику
+Большое количество скинов и оружия
+Много отсылок. Видно, что разработчик вдохновлялся другими проектами
+Приятная фоновая музыка
+Разнообразие врагов. На каждой локации уникальные враги либо старые, но переодетые под локацию
+Помимо сюжетного режима есть режимы с бесконечными волнами с кучей нового контента
+Разработчик периодически допиливает игру
+-Багов было минимальное количество. Всего раз или два они ломали прохождение, и приходилось перепроходить определенный момент

Однако игра имеет и несколько минусов:
-Не знаю зачем, но сохранения в игре делаются только на специальных маяках. Для коридорных локаций это не страшно, но на открытых это очень неудобно. Стоит добавить возможность ручного сохранения
-Поиски нужных предметов (ключи, шестеренки и т.д.) иногда душные. На карте зачастую не отмечено, где искать предмет, и приходится тратить кучу времени. чтобы понять, что задумал разраб (особенно задушила локация celestial forge)

Несмотря на перечисленные минусы, игру определённо стоит пройти

i'm leaving a positive review, but as of today this game NEEDS more polishing...

there is absolutely a ton of great content in there, great weapons, fun dialogue and a ton of ideas and great references

but unfortunately there are a few bugs and most importantly theres little to no direction for where to go next, expecially in the adventure (the main story of the game)

the game desperately a map update that shows more points of interest, the next objective/s and possibly wich items are still available on the area

i've spent way too long on the volcano area interacting with levers that did nothing before i found the actual path i was supposed to follow...
honestly thought the game soft locked for a bug or something...

the game's level design is good, but for these reasons the navigation feels clunky

there is a lot of passion from the devs, cant wait to come back and continue the adventure

There's a review from a Steam account called "Lunatic" that's pretty well sums up all the things that are wrong with this game from a technical standpoint, so I won't retread that here; go look at Lunatic's review for that.

Obviously, in spite of all of this game's many issues, I've enjoyed it enough to keep playing. There is one glaring problem with this game that others don't seem to have touched on (except for one or two brief discussion threads): plagiarism. On top of everything else, this game is full of it. Not friendly nods. Not homages. Plagiarism. In particular, the devs love Metroid Prime 2.

The Persephone boss fight is Flaaghra (Metroid Prime) crossed with a Queen Metroid. Atlus is Quadraxis (Metroid Prime 2). Way later there are boss fights with what are basically an Adult Sheegoth (MP1), Thardus (MP1), and Adult Chykka (MP2). The final boss fight starts with an Emperor Ing Chrysalis type deal (tentacle base + ball on top + lesions to destroy to deal damage) and ends with a Gandrayda-style fight.

They also decided that MP2's Sky Temple mechanic was a great idea that really wasn't explored enough. That alone would almost be a big enough sin to earn the devs a negative review.

The Flying Citadel and Celestial Forge have assets and level designs that look like they were ripped straight from Skytown, Elysia (MP3) and Sanctuary Fortress (MP2) respectively. Incidentally, ripping all the assets from the Prime games is possible. Some ambitious fans created software that allows anyone with a copy of the game to do it. I've messed around with Meta Ridley in Blender. I wouldn't reskin Meta Ridley, put him in my own game, then put that game on Steam (I'm surprised a reskinned Meta Ridley isn't in Onirism somewhere). Those robots in Celestial Forge that look and act like Prime 1 Space Pirates are really suspicious.

TL;DR: I'd say the devs are fortunate that they didn't decide to make something [strike] Pocket Monster [/strike] *ahem* [i] Cubbyhole Friends [/i] -related, but AM2R got C&D'd, and DocM64 wasn't even trying to make money with that, so I'm not sure how this game gets a pass.

P.P.S.: What was with the enemies that are *actually* just asset drops of Rahkshi from Lego Bionicle? Was I expected *not* to notice the random Lego Technic guys that explode into smaller pieces with obvious connector holes?

Let me preface this review: I'm only a few hours in, and if Steam's rating system had a "Maybe" recommendation, I would rate it as such.
The game itself itself is fantastic.
A lot of variety in gameplay, absolutely a blast, and I can't stop playing it (debating calling a sick day several times just to sit down and take all the time I want to binge it.)
HOWEVER:
The game chugs, crashes once in a while, and is poorly optimized.
It may just be my PCs specs, which aren't that bad, but for the LONGEST TIME, I couldn't get this game to even launch! Splash screens, then crash. Then once it miraculously started running for 3 sessions, it wouldn't run ever again. Luckily, my girlfriend is a technical wizard.
We had to go into the steam preferences for the game and force the game to launch in borderless window and at my PCs aspect ratio. We shouldn't have to do this with modern games. Especially technologically lost people like me are completely lost when the game does something like this.

All in all, putting the game's technical issues aside, it's VERY fun and I love it.
Would recommend if your PC works on most games without issue.

Rough launch, genuinely terrible. Now the game is finally finding its groove. The gameplay feels like a mix between Serious Sam 2 and a modern movement shooter, with Carol able to spin, roll, flip, wall jump, and style on enemies across large, expansive levels. The game spent a long time in development, so expect a lot of content. There’s still some jank here and there, but overall it’s a very solid product.

I've been following this project for years and decided to buy it on EA, but it never clicked for me. I started a new game, but didn't get very far, it was bit rough.

After version 1.0, I'm having a blast, the game is a lot of fun and I'm glad I waited until now.

The game is basically a Ratchet and Clank-style platformer combined with arena shooter mechanics like Serious Sam, and it also has movement tech, with a large, HUGE arsenal of weapons to find and use, lots of inspiration from early 2000s games, and it's very charming.

You play as Carol, a girl trying to save her plushie from a mysterious thief in her own dreams. It's not a complex story, but it's enough to keep you hooked as you go through lots of colorful levels filled with enemies.

Gameplay wise, the game has a lot of variety, movement tech, and lots of platforming. Don't be fooled by its adorable appearance; it can get difficult on the highest difficulty level. The game has an FPS mode, but it lacks graphic violence to maintain its innocence, as you play as a girl having a kind of twisted nightmare, and this alone makes it unique.

It's still buggy in some parts and it can feel a bit janky on the platforming area, you can tell this game suffered suffered from scope creep after years and years of added content, but this is just small negative point, everything else has been fantastic so far and I'm very happy this finally got released, this is definitely a passion project.

The devs are still making content and apparently, a multiplayer mode is planned, I can't wait.

This game is pretty much 2005 Euro-Jank at it's finest. It feels like a game Microsoft published to compete with Mario. A cancelled project from 2003 made manifest. Janky, a little glitchy, and a little too ambitious, it's a perfect recreation of what it felt like to rent a game you've never seen a commercial for.

If you're itching for a 20 year old game you've never played, this one is worth a pickup.

This game is insane with so many maps, collectables, weapons, items, outfits and more, ranging from original designs to pop-culture references. The player movement and gameplay is smooth and you're free to go between third or first person whenever you want. Was a very pleasant surprise seeing so many characters are fully voiced considering I expected just Banjo Kazooie or Luigi's Mansion levels of dialogue, just because of how many characters there are. Not only is the single player campaign huge (and also supports splitscreen co-op) but there's a ton of mini-games, and a future online-multiplayer mode for PvP and PvE Coop play? I feel like the game is a steal at full price and easily deserves 10x the players.

Hidden gem. You can tell this is a passion project.

Onirism is frustrating in a unique way in that it is probably the best example of an 'ideas man' game that could possibly exist.

The setting, graphics and gameplay are callbacks to games from the late 90s and early 2000s and should have been an instant pathway to success.
With the inevitably cute and amusing Carol and her bloodthirsty (and bloodless) rampage through the dream world; the groundwork existed for a game that is both entertaining and well designed.
The low number of people who are playing the game for the "coughgameplayandnotanythingelse" tells a different story.

Even after being in EA for longer than the target demographic has been alive, the game is just unfinished, and extremely glitchy beyond what should be tolerable as Eurojank.
The clunky gameplay mechanics and poor level design wants to evoke Dark Souls as a shooter-platformer rather than trying to be Serious Sam vs Crash Bandicoot. Instead you get situations where checkpoints are irregularly spaced, the open world maps lead to nowhere with no reasonable direction and it seems easier to watch a let's-play than to try figure out how to solve the seemingly randomly-generated puzzles.

I'd go so far to say that this game should be taught in schools across the globe in how NOT to design and implement gameplay and map design. For every clever addition such as weapons with multiple ammo types, you then get guns with the equivalent of only 2-mags without upgrades. For every excellent movement mechanic, you get jumping puzzles that will launch you no where. For every creative sidequest, you'll get the sneaking suspicion that the game was designed on caffeine without the come-down to ask how these new mechanics (racing, mech riding, stealth, flying) can be implemented into the final product.

While the first few worlds are fun. I think most people will find their own point where they're searching the wiki or Youtube more than actually playing the game.
There are better games out there.

Out of all my reviews, this might be the most "serious" because I want to like this game. But due to various reasons, I cannot recommend it.

It's clear a lot of love and effort was spent to make this game what it is today, around a decade of work. Unfortunately, I think they spent their time on pointless things that don't add much to the game. That means there's a lot of content in the game which is nice, but a lot of it seems random and very pointless. My main problem with Onirism is how bloated it is. It runs like ♥♥♥♥ on my otherwise capable PC. And the smaller Hunt and Tales levels still make the FPS drop like crazy. This was a issue in the Early Access verisons, and I had hoped that they would fix it by now but they seemed to have made it worse. The level design is just random and you're not told nor lead on paths most of the time. If this is a Serious Sam style shooter, they should take a note on how those games' levels worked. The movement and the overall feel of the game is very jank. Again, thought they would have fixed this by the 1.0 release, but nope.

It's a real shame. I want to like this game. I want to see this game thrive much like AHIT or the popular retro shooters, I can't see that happening with Onirism in the current state. I'll check in again soon but I'm not super impressed with the 1.0 release.

I have rarely felt so conflicted about a game, for good and for bad.

So the base concept is: imagine if Hat Kid was vibrating with barely suppressed school shooter energy and her subconscious was Serious Sam 2 where she kills a bunch of stuff gleefully with repurposed toys.

Okay that sounds sociopathic and it kind of is but also in a really fun way when it works, because the visuals and the soundscape are just A+. A+++ even. Carol's little kill barks never got old, the enemies are largely reskinned Serious Sam and Doom 3 enemies, and that's okay, they were fun games in many ways.

So... why am I not giving this a thumbs up? Well! Good question. You get an A for being attentive.

"When it works" is doing a lot of heavy lifting. Because it often doesn't.

One out of ten cutscenes or dialogue snippets outside of combat channel Hat Kid/Serious Sam 2 energy, and the rest feel either like placeholders or they're taking themselves way too seriously. It's best when Carol is largely silent/unquestioning and you can imagine that she deals with this ♥♥♥♥ every other night. Always badguys trying to snatch her stuffed bunnies. Also dialogue and subtitles often do not match.

The movement suffers from, uh, jank. Especially when moving platforms are involved. Trying to run on a moving platform, for a long jump for instance, inexplicably prevents you from moving. If you suffer from DoT flames and are airborne, the damage ticks will stun you, removing momentum, even in mid-air, freezing you there. Stuff that really should have been picked up at an insanely early beta stage. There are also surfaces that are inexplicably untraversible, rocketing you into the void with infinity slipperiness.

There are just too many weapons and a lot of them don't feel fun or good. A solid and polished 10-weapon armory ala Doom/Serious Sam would have been more satisfying, in my opinion, than 50+ weapons with a ton of duds. Even the good weapons feel like they have oddly tuned damage output. A rocket launcher equivalent should reliably gib low and mid-tier enemies in one shot. And... why do some weapons fire like 20 to 30 shots before consuming a unit of ammo? Like why would you not have those weapons define the smallest unit of an ammo type? The value of 1 Fireworks or Soap Water or whatever, and then up the ammo storage and drops by 10x? Instead of making them consume 0.1 ammo per shot?

The bosses are capital B Bad. I thought we'd all learned by now that "wait and dodge attacks for a minute before you get to take a shot"-bosses suck, especially when something about them is buggy and half your weapons cannot affect the single weak spot you have two seconds to hit per cycle. And the giant plant boss... "Throw the special weapon into its mouth!" without explaining that: you need to do this after knocking it down after hitting a location that seems to do not visible damage, with so many hits that it's easy to believe it's doing nothing. And then you need to throw the special weapon not just into its mouth, no, you need to *walk inside its mouth* and kick the special weapon intos its stomach acid.

The little easter egg platforming side levels(which give you dreamstones that I do not know the purpose of. bragging rights? late-game currency?) are a cute idea but are mechanically, uh, real bad.

Some stuff that's never explained, too. In one area I fought several arena battles for some "keys" and never could figure out what they were supposed to unlock. Also in the more open explore-y areas some stuff that feels like guaranteed places to hide stuff(like high, climbable locations, etc.) are way too often duds with no reward.

Even the main menu is kind of jank. Why not just call the options something like "CAMPAIGN" instead of "ADVENTURE" so I can tell what it means and does, and maybe guess at a glance what differentiates it from "TALES." Maybe explain the differences between difficulty levels? There's a reason that games often have a shared verbiage, it cuts down on time needed to explain things.

Clearly a lot of love went into this game from some parts of the team, but it feels like the different devs just weren't communicating, or a lot of parts never got a second or third pass they needed before they got slapped into the finished product.

100% recommend for the soundtrack, though, THAT part they nailed utterly. My greatest of props to the composer. The visuals are also very consistently on point. Enemy and area designs are always nice.

EDIT: Having played a bit more to clarify my thoughts, I have been struck by a revelation:

This is not a Serious Sam-like, this is a Borderlands-like.

The game has no right to be as good as it is. I'm just over 30 hours in and still not done. For $18 that is good value, great value even.

The game plays like Serious Sam and takes heavy inspiration from it as well as many other gaming tropes/themes. Tons of guns, costumes, gadgets and more to choose from making it so you're kit is never static.

The story is funny and each level is so varied that I never got bored.

The only negative I could say is the game definitely could use more polish. Some scene transitions, movement in cutscenes, dialogue doesn't always sync with the captions etc. They are still working on polishing so it is ever improving.

Por outro lado, eu acho o jogo um pouco longo de mais, depois de certo ponto o jogo para de fazer um pouco de sentido, pelo menos pra mim, e a cada novo capítulo parece só mais uma desculpa pra te enrolar mais antes do final de fato, então em certos momentos eu clamava pra que o jogo acabasse logo.

Mas quem gosta desse estilo de coletar coisa, explorar, customizar a personagem, algo no estilo Mario 64 e A Hat In Time das ideias, vai gostar de Onirism.

Onirism is the prime example of the core mechanic carrying everything else on its back; the movement and combat are so good that I'm willing to forgive every blemish this game has, and trust me it has a lot.
The toughest pill to swallow for me was an adamant decision from the game designer to directly reference Metroid prime 2 by using it's annoying dark world mechanics with an especially arduous and tiresome MacGuffin hunt in the last stretch of the game involving them. The levels are often too big for their own good as well, with sections that are seemingly unused but were still left in the game, so the level design sometimes feels like something out of the Cruelty Squad except done unintentionally. Onirism also doesn't seem to care one bit that the player will be able to get out of bounds or somewhere he isn't supposed to be, which is further exacerbated by a certain gadget you can use in game that will allow you to staight up clip through any geometry with precisely zero ♥♥♥♥♥ given if this will break the level or not.
Speaking of gadgets: Carol only havs two slots for those and halfway through the game one of them was made exclusively into a jetpack slot by me, which left me with only one slot for an offensive option. And weirdly enough, I found kiddie scissors from the first level to be the best one throughout the whole game. So this aspect of Carol's kit leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion, as I found most of the other gadgets to be useless.
This game is still quite buggy even after all the patches, but every annoying bug I've encountered I was able to get rid of just by touching and reloading a savepoint.
Overall I do recommend Onirism if you like the style the game goes for, have some nostalgia itch for platformers and shooters from mid 90's - mid 2000's, like exploration or simply want to play a shooter with tons of guns to chose from. Just know that signposting and intuitive navigation through the levels is something this game lacks severely.

Seeing a 65% approval rating for this Game honestly breaks my heart.

If you played a over the shoulder shooter before you should not have any trouble picking this one up.
The Game itself has a staggering amount of content in pretty much every area.
It's got a huge variety of Weapons, Locations, Cosmetics and enemy types.

The only thing I could critizise about it is that it's beginning is not very smooth.
When you start off you obviosly don't have a huge variety of stuff to choose from so it feels underwhelming the first few hours. Same Thing goes for Navigating the massive Maps. At first you might get the feeling of running around aimlessly but the further you get the more fun it get's to explore just for the fun of it.

If you have 15$ and the footage you see is even remotely interesting to you I urge you to buy this!
It's honestly worth much, much more considering how many hours of gameplay you will get out of this.

This game's got it all. You can tell which games the developers enjoyed playing back in the day (most of the games referenced above and more, like Serious Sam for example), and all of that magic from those games was added into this big melting pot, which brewed this game. It's really cool, never would have thought that I'd see a game like this.

I bought it several years back when it was still in Early Access. I was incredibly addicted to it back then (where some of my hours spent playing this game comes from), but then my excitement wore off when I was playing through a level and hit a roadblock. I realized the game was incomplete, unwinnable, no ending in place to finish it. So I left it sitting on my Library for a while up until 2026, where the developers announced it was leaving Early Access and was finally able to be completed from start to finish. What a ride it was.

The platforming is serviceable. Some of the platforming characteristics are only utilized a few times throughout the game and then are never seen again. They should have been brought back or implemented evenly throughout the levels-

so the platforming is there and it's good enough, but where the game shines is the gunplay and all of the cool weapons that are available to use and how satisfying it is to make use of them. Landing headshots, damaging multiple enemies at once, accounting for deflection and hitting targets from far away, it all feels great. All of the weapons have a character to them that you get a feel for, and eventually you'll know how to utilize them effectively and efficiently. And when you're in a pinch for ammo, your abilities and skills you have, like your melee attacks, jumps and dodges and your default blaster weapon, can get you out of trouble, all of this further being improved with upgrades you get later on, so nothing becomes useless. Accounting for all of this, you're given various options for dealing with the different challenges the game throws at you.

The levels look really nice. Lots of detail and great use of color, vivid palettes with various hues across the board instead of constant browns, greens, grays and blacks like I see all the time- the whole rainbow is used for decorating the levels here. It's a nice breath of fresh air to take in after seeing how most 3D games are being made these last two decades. The levels are big and vast, quite larger than I was expecting. Like I mentioned above, if you explore every last nook and cranny of them, you will be rewarded with secrets and upgrades; even if you have the slightest hunch about that far-away, out-of-the-way piece of scenery, like a building, an island, a tower or a cliff, has something there, you're probably right. Most of the upgrades for the player are found this way, but even if you do not find them all, you're given enough options to make it through the game.

Once you're done with the main story, there's still quite a lot of replay value to be had. There's side storyline episodes, a wave-based survival game mode, and when that's all exhausted, the developers added in PvP multiplayer (which also has bots) with Online multiplayer in the works (as of me writing this review). There's also Co-Op, so you can play some of the game modes with friends; never tried it myself but it's nice to see added value to a game instead of just one-and-done playthroughs.

New to me from when I last played this game, they've added a complete English dub. Previously only the main character had an English voice, but now most if not all characters have an English voice, and the casting and direction is pretty decent.

Despite how impressed I am with this game, I had quite a bit to pick apart about it.

Some of my criticisms and gripes:

[*] Like I mentioned above, [b]BUGS[/b]. Bad bugs that sometimes fix themselves when you load your save back to the most-recent checkpoint, sometimes fix themselves when you return to the Main Menu and re-load your save, and sometimes do not fix themselves at all to the point where a complete game restart is needed. I encountered several terrible bugs one after another during "The Cursed Forest" level. They need to go back in there and stability-test that level again. For a game that has left Early Access, there's still quite a lot of bugs that need squashing. Especially the bugs that I ran into again from so many years ago, those should have been already ironed out before the game officially launched.

[*] [b]NEW GAME PLUS, please![/b] As of right now with how the end of the game is implemented, I didn't get a chance to get all of the weapons, the costumes, the accessories and all of the upgrades. Adding a New Game Plus so that the player can go through the game again and get all the things they missed is an absolute MUST for a game like this.

[*] Huge difficulty spikes for players who don't adapt quickly and improve their skills (those levels being Borealis Sea, City Of Al-Hibdae and The Celestial Forge)

[*] The entire concept of [spoiler]The Crimson World (the Nightmare sections)[/spoiler] and how it's open and accessible to players who might accidentally discover it and explore it before completing the big plot twist near the end of the game. These sections are [b]very tough and will deadlock players who are not prepared to deal with them[/b], especially since not all exits to these sections are open early on in the game.

[*] Despite the levels being vast and detailed, there's a lot of empty spaces on a lot of the later levels that could use a secret or a collectible placed there.

I'm about 58 hours in. Loving this game! Carol is a delight. The voice acting is good. The cutscenes are funny. The references to movies and other games are memorable. I approached the "Parasol Inc" hallway and knew EXACTLY what was about to happen. It was an, "Oh HELL NO!" moment.

I find myself wanting to see the end of the game!

CRITICISMS!
The game is badly optimized -- like VERY badly. I have an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti. This game makes my GPU cry for mercy. The game loads slowly. Your load animation actually freezes, which is just amateur! I'd strongly advise your developers slow down on new content and polish what you have!

Fishbone Harbor and its adjacent maps have the most few issues. The Slights is probably the worst map, performance wise. I must AFK for several minutes upon loading before the game smooths out so I can play. Also, the shark enemies have highly inconsistent hit detection and crit detection. The sniper rifle is my bread and butter. Head shots on the sharks usually don't crit when they should. The bigger the shark, the less likely head shots crit. Sometimes, the shot goes straight through them, hitting objects behind them. It's not enough that this act is FULL of bullet sponge enemies that don't crit easily.

Worst of all, this ENTIRE ACT is a narrative goose chase. Players do not appreciate the least playable level having absolutely no impact on the story. In it's current state, Fishbone Harbor is just there to "get through quickly and get back to the fun."

All in all, I'm having fun. It's a good game and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a brighter, livelier action shooter.

Тема игры — детская решимость против хаоса сна. Ты всё время балансируешь между «вау, какое конфетное небо» и «о нет, это опять какая-то зубастая штука». Игра обещает 10 глав и более 20 уровней, набитых секретами, пазлами и абсурдными существами — и ощущение правда такое, будто каждый уровень хочет быть отдельным мультиком.

Самый кайфовый “момент из прохождения” у меня случился, когда я впервые понял, что Onirism — это про темп: ты бежишь, прыгаешь, стреляешь чем-то совсем несерьёзным, а игра внезапно выкатывает бой, где надо собраться, как на спринте. Тут помогают её безумные цифры: сотни врагов и десятки боссов, и ощущение, что дизайнеры реально ставили цель «каждый следующий противник должен удивить».

Отдельная тема — радость коллекционирования. Арсенал оружия/гаджетов и костюмы превращают путешествие в охоту за “ещё одной штукой”, которая вдруг меняет стиль боя или просто делает Кэрол смешнее и смелее. Плюс транспорт и мультиплеерные режимы добавляют ощущение игрового парка аттракционов: сегодня ты проходишь сюжет, завтра устраиваешь локальный хаос с друзьями.

Onirism — это игра, которая не стесняется быть громкой, цветной и странной. Она не просит верить в реальность — она просит поверить в сон, пока тот не закончился.

I cannot reccomend this game enough. I got about 2 weeks of playtime out of this just doing the story mode and I honestly wish it had a new game plus mode because I would love to run through it again (I might just start a new save).

The game is not perfect of course, it has some balance issues here and there and there are sections where more guidance could be given to the player as to where to go next. You will no doubt get frustrated once in a while with some section of the game but you just need to know that everything is beatable, if you dont know what to do next; the wiki is very useful and even the most difficult challenge is beatable even by an older guy like me with a bit of patience and strategy.

But there are so many good things about this game. The environments are absolutely gorgeous. It feels like playing through a disney movie. I kept stopping just to take screenshots of the landscapes. There are tonnes of guns and while some are kind of similar, some are drastically different. Changing your loadout can hugely change the feel and flow of combat and you will likely have to change your loadout here and there to counter certain bosses and certain situations. You can also equip one elixir and 2 'gadgets' at a time. The elixir is a temporary buff and the gadgets can be anything from grenades to airtstrikes to jump packs that give you an extra boost.

The soundtrack is also brilliant, with each zone having it's own music that perfectly matches the mood of the zone. My favourite is probably the tune that plays in the mafia city section, it suits the vibe and its also just a banger.

The game's story is fairly simple but it's delievered through dialogue that has a lot of wit and charm to it. It doesnt try to hard to be funny but it'll get a chuckle out of you every now and then. The characters are also incredibly endearing and even though the premise seems rather childish, by the end of the game you'll be invested in the fate of the characters.

The tl'dr is, if you like shooters at all, especially third person shooters. And you like a bit of platforming on top of it. And you like imaginative worlds with cool locations and unique characters. And if you like games that feel like an adventure, the kind you used to play when you were younger, i strongly STRONGLY reccomend this game. It is honestly underpriced for all the content it has and they are even looking to add online multiplayer to it now. If you are on the fence with this, I say just do it, you wont regret it. This game is an absolute hidden gem and I will sing it's praises till the day I die. I normally dont even review games, but I had to for this one because it deserves way more attention than it's getting at the moment.

This is a game I will never forget, hopefully it will be the same for you too.

首先是本作的存檔機制是類似魂遊的篝火點，而且存檔不會復活大地圖上的敵人，乍一聽是好事，但是一旦死亡就是另一回事，因為死亡懲罰是直接回朔，在這段時間的所有探索乃至主線進度通通回朔，而這遊戲可沒有隨著進度的自動存檔，僅在過圖傳送時存在傳送
這導致本作的探索體驗壓力極大，因為本作的玩法明顯脫胎於Serious Sam, DOOM系列等Old School FPS，這種類型的遊戲在高難度下敵人的數值本就偏高，這帶來的就是要嘛死了就全部重來，要嘛就得頻繁找復活點，探索體驗很差
那說到探索，本作的探索設計也不怎麼樣，在一片超大地圖中塞入超大量的寶箱，以及大量Old School FPS的隱藏，但這種隱藏在大地圖的情況會使得找尋起來相當折磨，更別提有相當一部分被放在各種角落，具體來說就是本作你找不到任何一個真正100%收集的攻略，因為真的找不到，純屬折磨
同時本作還有個非常詭異的邊緣保護，他不會阻擋你掉出邊緣，但會在你加速移動試圖跳躍高處或障礙的時候突然停止你的移動慣性並卡在邊緣不能移動，這近一步加劇在某些地帶的跳跳樂與探索的糟糕體驗
此外本作有大量載具，操作手感很屎，沒有準星，如果有兩把武器的載具還有兩個不同的著彈點，同時部分使用時間長的載具，點名各種氣墊船，巨吵，音效非常吵雜，下船還聽的到，以及容易卡牆角卡BUG
本作還不能修改快捷鍵，你可能會看到它提供了修改快捷鍵，但實際上根本沒做，因為你改了也沒生效，我常是本作提供的第一人稱模式時，想把切換射擊從右鍵移到別的鍵位，但改了發現右鍵還是生效，我想把滾輪按順序切換武器的順序顛倒，但改了還是一樣，我想改使用，武器快捷，道具快捷，他根本沒提供改的選項

總之，你在一開始可能會被美術和多種武器吸引，但這遊戲超大量的未完成品痕跡會讓你血壓往上漲，請愛護自己的身體與時間

If you told me that this game was released 25 years ago, I would believe you without question. I mean that in both the positive and negative connotations.

Onirism is the greatest waste of potential I've seen since Final Fantasy 7: Remake was turned into a ghostbusters fanfiction. The core gameplay of the game, the world, the concept; all of the pieces for making a great 2000's era shooter platformer like a cross between serious sam and ratchet and clank were all there, but for every good thing about this game, there's something there to ruin it. Don't let that big "version 1.0" update fool you, this game is legitimately not finished in the slightest, technically or design-wise. It's a patchwork quilt of disparate ideas, baffling missteps and infinite technical jank, culminating in a game that could have been great, but instead ends up being aggressively mediocre.

The positives:
The core shooter gameplay is really fun. The movement is fast, the guns are varied, and the enemies are merciless.

The acting is shockingly good. Carol, the protagonist, could very easily have been the cringiest creature on the face of the earth, but she and almost every other character have respectable voice performances, elevating the poorly written dialogue far past its station.

The level aesthetics are varied which helps to break up the monotony.

The music, especially the combat music, is really good.

The difficulty on hard mode is well balanced. I felt decently challenged in the early hours of the game, but things do start to become easier in the later hours as you get better equipment.

And that's it. As much as I wanted to love this game, I did not enjoy a very large chunk of my playthrough.

The negatives:
The audio mixing is awful. The music is allowed to blare over dialogue in multiple cutscenes and the sfx layer on top of each other infinitely, which hurt my ears on several occasions when I picked up a ton of pickups at once.

Collision is all over the place. You never know which objects you can stand on and which ones you will simply phase through. There were multiple times I was able to very easily make my way out of bounds thinking I was finding a secret right off the main path, and sometimes it will dump you into a pit, a hazard, or lock you behind an invisible wall. I found multiple invisible walls out in the open in random spots in the middle of combat arenas, and some objects in the environment extend further than their visible models, which will block your shots all the time.

The game is basically held together by toothpicks and rubber bands. If you try to sprint and jump off a moving platform, you'll implode into the floor and get stuck. Sometimes your ammo count will say that it's full, only to suddenly be empty 2 shots later or even go into negative numbers somehow, and I got softlocked in combat arenas multiple times because enemies stopped spawning and the game would not let me progress, forcing me to reload and lose progress. Just to name a few.

The subtitles NEVER match the dialogue, EVER. And it's not just little things here and there that the actors improvised. Sometimes the sentence will be completely different in voice vs. text.

The puzzles just suck. They're tedious, boring and not fun in the slightest. I just want to shoot things. Thank you.

For some baffling reason, in addition to having a long cooldown, elixirs take 3 full seconds to drink. This makes using them in the middle of combat unbearably clunky and inconsistent, and their lack of a real sound cue and extremely subtle drinking animations makes it hard to tell if the game actually registered your input while you're busy dodging enemies until it's too late.

There is ZERO information on guns and items in the shop other than their stats and ammo type. The only way to know how something actually works is to buy it, which is prohibitively expensive as there are dozens of weapons in the game and currency is accrued very slowly.

Not only do vehicles control like absolute flaming trash, weaponized vehicles don't have aiming reticles, meaning that you have to just guess where your shots will go.

The game's general lack of polish is all encompassing. Many things just lack sounds and particle effects. The [spoiler] Persephone boss fight for example starts out with the boss flashing and playing the hitsound when you shoot it, but it takes no damage, and the bombs you can throw at it do nothing. You have to figure out that you have to pump a huge amount of damage into it to knock it over, and then throw a bomb into its mouth, which just despawns without exploding and damages the boss in total, unsatisfying silence. There is something like this in every level, something janky, unpolished and unfinished that cheapens the experience. [/spoiler]

A large amount of enemies have the ability to give themselves iframes with a dark souls dodge roll after you've already hit them. Some enemies can even spam it, wasting your ammo even when you hit your target dead on and potentially getting you killed for absolutely no reason by essentially punishing you for landing your shot.

Level design? What level design? Every single level follows the same principle: make a big open space, and then dump assets into it at random until you can call it a level. The swamp level is the absolute worst example of this, to the point where it feels like someone booted up garry's mod, spawned as much crap as they could without it crashing, tossed it in random directions and then ported it into Onirism. There's also a ton of backtracking, long elevator rides, completely unnecessary vehicle segments where nothing happens, and other such timewasting nonsense. The game probably could have been 3 hours shorter and much better off for it if they pruned all of the fluff.

Level gimmicks are flat out awful. [spoiler] For example, there is a stealth section in the snow level. The stealth controls are ass, the stealth weapons only use water ammo and the game DOESN'T GIVE YOU ANY WATER AMMO FOR THE ENTIRE THING, the stealth weapons are stupidly inaccurate, to the point where the SNIPER RIFLE was shooting far to the left of the target reticle, causing me to miss a completely stationary enemy. Then halfway through, you're forced to alert the base, and then have to fight your way through an entire horde of stealth section enemies with perfect accuracy that chew you apart even under the effects of a shield elixir down a narrow hallway and up a completely exposed staircase. IT SUCKS. [/spoiler]

This game WAS NOT PLAYTESTED. You cannot look me in the eyes and tell me that the borderline unplayable BS in some areas were actually tested by the devs. [spoiler] The atlas boss fight for example is genuinely awful. Every time the boss moves the leg you're currently climbing, the physics ♥♥♥♥ themselves, and you get bucked off, stuck in the floor or phased through the ceiling, all the while being torn to shreds by the turrets. [/spoiler] The whole point of releasing into early access is to implement feedback. You cannot tell me that nobody brought these things up before me during the entirety of early access.

I very much wanted to love this game. But this unfinished, unpolished, horrifically designed, overly-ambitious heap of wasted potential did everything it could to frustrate, aggravate and infuriate me throughout my entire playthrough. And the fact that the devs proudly proclaim that this build of the game is their complete final product while shifting development onto a multiplayer mode that's sure to be just as broken, really paints an unflattering picture of just wanting to get rid of the early access tag to entice more sales. What a shame.

Очень понравилась игра. Куча больших локаций, длинный активный геймплей (у меня заняло 37 часов на полное прохождение). Приятное разнообразие NPC на каждой тематической локации. Удивило наличие огромного количества отсылок. Тут и машины и лодки и самолеты, много оружий, скинов... После достижения цели игры [spoiler] (найти bunbun) [/spoiler] я думал, что все финал, а оказалось там еще немало геймплея.

Теперь к минусам. Немного душные моменты, особенно с паркуром и поиском чего-то на карте. Также момент в ледяной локации с сопровождением даже на самой легкой сложности не очень простая задача (не уложился во время - проходи всю миссию заново). В некоторых местах хотелось побольше сохранений. И наверное самый БОЛЬШОЙ минус, это плохая навигация по квестовым меткам. Если честно, я иногда не понимал а куда мне именно двигаться, особенно в финале игры искать эти маяки, а потом еще и входы к боссам. И естественно баги, особенно когда отключается прыжок, и появляется возможность летать (пройдя вперед с любого обрыва).

Но за маленькую стоимость игры очень даже простительно.
А так игра супер, много хороших эмоций от того, что игра очень большая и разнообразная.

操作感は軽いというか重みを感じない軽快感、紙のように舞ってバリバリ撃って遊ぶタイプなので好きな人には嵌まると思います、昔の洋ゲー独特の唐突さと大味感があるかな。
シューターモードで伏せ撃ちできるのが面白いなと思いました。

ゲームメニューが「アドヴェンチャー」「物語」「狩り」「プレイグランド」と出るのですが、最初これが何なのか分からずストレスでした。
難易度設定も「ママ眠いよ」という表現はゲーム内キャラのコンテキストに沿って世界観を表してるのは良いのですが、設定をしたい側にとっては何が違うのか内容が曖昧に感じてしまいました。
サブウィンドウで項目説明があれば良かったかなと思います。

ゲームプレイ中に水中を泳いでる時、視点を上に向けたら平泳ぎしてる女の子の股間が画面いっぱいに広がってプレイする気が失せました…。(これは性的云々の批判的な話ではなく、視点操作を作っていてこれでヨシとしてる姿勢がノリが合わないというか、食事の味付けではなく提供の仕方が合わない飲食店というか、良いゲームだと思うけど私には合わなかったですという意味合いです)

Incredible game, lots of potential and really charming graphics.

Lots of content too, you have the Main Story (Adventure), a Round-based zombie survival mode (Tales), a PvE Arena mode (Hunt) and a local PvP mode (Playground)

There's performance issues like frame drops and stuttering, with the occasional smell of burnt metal, but other than that the game is really good even on my Pre-historic PC

I'd definitely recommend this game because of it's humongous amount of content and constant updates fixing known bugs and adding even more content to the game

I am not recommending it cause the platform jumping in this game is broken with bugs and glitches and frustrating to even finish it cause if you do a sprint jump, It will basically stop you mid air and making you fall down and killing you every damn time and also stopping you in your progress and making you go back to the checkpoint every time. It's so damn annoying to keep going now. 0/10 please fix this game already.

I have not yet finished Onirism, but I can see roughly the trajectory of how things are going to go from here. I suppose I will update this review when I have finished the game if anything important changes, but the state of the game is pretty obvious after 3 and a half hours.

Onirism is a very fun game thats wears its inspirations on its sleeve. It is very much a love letter to both Serious Sam and A Hat in Time. It has a solid core that feels like it is developed upon at a decent pace. The platforming is good (when it works properly, more on that in a moment), but ultimately this is a combat-oriented game and you do not have as much freedom of movement as in AHIT.

Visually the game is splendid, with fun designs for environments and enemies. Animations during actual gameplay are fine, but they are extremely stiff during cutscenes. The music is also great, with a few amazing stand-out combat tracks that will get stuck in your mind quickly.

Onirism is still a game I recommend, but it does have some serious flaws that I have to point out.

Firstly - the bugs. I have occasionally encountered bugs that lock out certain actions (such as melee attacks) until I reload the save, which are annoying, but by far the most frustrating issue is movement on moving platforms. It is unbelievably bad, constantly not acting how it should or even breaking entirely and getting you stuck in place, and yet the game keeps using them.

Secondly, the boss design is uniformly terrible. Agni in particular is the worst boss I've fought in a game for a very long time.

Thirdly, the optional challenge arenas you can teleport into seem intentionally designed to be as frustrating as possible rather than naturally challenging. Over-use of buggy moving platforms that are extremely hard to predict, being locked into an awkward camera angle that makes depth perception very difficult - these things are frustrating and tedious, not a difficult but fun gauntlet.

The fourth main issue is not a game-breaking problem but it is still a notable problem with the game's design and balance. A core aspect of this game is choosing which weapons to take into battle with you; there are more weapons than you have weapon slots and each draws from an ammo pool that can be shared with other weapons, so it's all about which ammo type you want to fulfil which role.

Some weapons are significantly better at fulfilling the same role as other weapons, but I am not going to overly complain about this because balancing is very hard and perfect balance is impossible to achieve. To some extent, perfect balancing is even undesirable, because it is an interesting challenge to figure out which options are the best.

The bigger problem is actually that the game gives you [i]too many options[/i]. There are too many weapons that fulfil the same role, but also you can carry too many weapons at once. It kind of defeats the point of having to choose your loadout if you can just bring multiple weapons that do the same job anyway but use a different ammo type. I legitimately think this game would be better if you only had 6 or 7 weapon slots instead of 9. This is compounded by the fact that you can't rebind the weapon selection keys. You have to use the number keys, and it's really awkward to reach to numbers 7-9 and it takes a while to scroll to them, so I barely end up using weapons in those slots anyway, because they are just so inconvenient to select.

Игра нереально душная и невероятно раздутая. Огромные локации на которых вообще непонятно куда идти. На одной локации можно бегать 4 часа туда-сюда и так не найти выхода. Игра не помогает в прохождении а наоборот путает тебя. Плюс добавьте сюда большое количество багов из-за которых приходится перезагружаться теряя прогресс. Спорное удовольствие от игры. Первая локация классная и музыка офигенная, так что не ведитесь, потом будет духота. Я от этой игры сгорел настолько, что даже отзыв написал

It's incredible for the price, very [b]Cute[/b], cartoonish and over the top. The gunplay is fun and there's a lot to choose from. There's a lot of fun ways to move around, I find it's fun to bouncy and slide around while traversing the maps. Carol is badass and cute, I like the enemy designs as well. Game runs perfectly even on my laptop that's a few years old I get about 100 fps on high.
I got it during early access and honestly I think it should honestly still be in early access. It just doesn't really feel all that complete to me and I think the reason is there's a lot that this game wants to be. It wants to be Doom, Ratchet and Clank, Crash Bandicoot, a single player game but also a co-op shooter.
There's big beautiful maps but not very fleshed out and it always feels like you're just moving on to the next one. Even if you stick around there's nothing really to do there other than the objective and shooting enemies.
I think it would gain a lot from just focusing on completing the single player before moving on to other things like co-op.
So expect a fun game with a lot of jank that is still getting regularly updated like an early access game. But honestly I'd say it's worth it, I've had a lot of fun.
Oh and switch to French with English subtitles. The voices are very [b]Funny[/b] in French

Покупая данную игру, особых ожиданий не было. Думал, мол очередной проект группы энтузиастов со скромным бюджетом и, соответственно, возможностями. Пробегу его за пару вечеров и на этом всё. Я ошибся, и очень рад этому.
В общем, понравилось:
1) Яркий и красочный мир. Хороший пример того, когда яркость не значит аляповатости;
2) Разнообразие локаций. Как оказалось локаций не просто много, а очень много для такого скромного проекта. И, надо сразу сказать, что они делятся условно на два типа: первый – привычные по размерам шутреные локации, например, вулкан или небесная кузница. Они достаточно камерные и коридорные. Второй тип — это больше отрытые пространства, более подходящие для RPG, например уже упомянутое Море Бореалиса или «Альпы». В первых почти нет транспорта (исключение локация «Болото»), а во вторых он есть.
3) Транспорт, к слову, также разнообразный – начиная от пони и Харлея, заканчивая танком, самолётом и антигравом
4) Проработанность и каждой отдельной локации или как их модно сейчас называть «биома». Простой пример, «биом» Город Ротнелэйк. С первых секунд появления героини там не покидает ощущение, что ты попал в приготовленный с душой коктейль из «Мафии» и «Биошока». Как человеку, который открыл для себя стиль «Ар-деко» благодаря указанным выше играм и проникся его монументальной красотой, пребывание в Ротнелэйке доставило колоссальное эстетическое наслаждение;
5) Достойная звуковая дорожка. Треков в игре много и 90% или около того стоят вынесения их в отдельное дополнение. Примеры, треки в Ротнелэйке и в «биоме» Море Боералиса. В последнем трек напомнил творчество легендарного Жана-Мишеля Жарра, чем ещё более усилил приятные впечатления от прохождения данного региона;
6) Смешение несмешиваемого. Тут вам и футуристические лаборатории, соседствующие с развалинами древних замков, и современные корабли, что делят одно море с драккарами викингов, и космодромы, спрятанные в Великой пирамиде и еще много чего такого, что кажется на первый взгляд совсем уж неуместным, НО именно в этой кажущейся алогичности и заключается шарм данной игры;
7) Тонны отсылок на игры, ставшие классикой. Тут вам попадутся и с Скелеты с Клира из конструктора, и акулы, палящие по тебе, точно так же как знаменитые Утиль-ракетчики, и культисты с МП-40, швыряющие под ноги динамит, а-ля «капюшонники» из Blood-а и ещё очень много чего, начиная от уже упомянутых противников до локаций и целых регионов;
8) Разнообразие оружия. Его в игре действительно много. Да, всё это игрушки, стреляющие пенными пульками, или «бананами», как, например ракетница из Крутого Сэма, или мыльной водой как два «Макарова» или фейерверками, как «Разрушитель» из Duke Nukem или стреляющая электрическими разрядами версия STG-44 из Wolfenstein The new order, но как хорошо и главное, качественно они выполнены, что при виде от третьего лица, что от первого;
9) Разнообразие костюмов и аксессуаров. Вот именно такого я и ждал в играх с пометкой «Кастомизация персонажа». В Onirism ты можешь на каждой локации быть кем захочешь. Хочешь, будь стрелком на Диком Западе, хочешь космодесантником на лунной базе, хочешь гангстером эпохи Сухого закона на улицах города Ротнелэйк и так далее. И главное, костюмы так же сделаны не для галочки, а проработаны и гармонично вписаны в тот или иной отрезок игры.
Как видите, хорошего в игре более чем достаточно, однако есть и некоторые спорные монеты.
Итак,
1) Система чекпойнтов. Ребята, если вы делаете такую игру, где есть ну очень больше пространства с кучей монстров, и соответственно, возможностью вздремнуть в самый неподходящий момент, то на мой субъективный взгляд, уж лучше бы вы заморочились и сделали классические сохранения, а не лампы, стоящие друг от друга порой в километрах друг от друга. Ламп-сохрянлок катастрофически не хватает, например, во второй большой локации после «Вулкана»;
2) Уклон в платформинг. Вот ни разу не мой жанр. Да, условно два раза прыгнуть три раза подтянуться и четыре раза присесть– это нормально в шутерах, но, когда ты начинаешь полкарты скакать как макака с красной Какой с розовым зонтиком – это порой выносит мозг почище самых массовых сражений. Есть интересные решения и здесь, например, планирование на зонтике, но от первого лица оно не работает, к сожалению.;
3) Сырость некоторых механик. Простой пример – остановка транспортного средства. Прекрасно понимаю, что остановить машину «на раз» нельзя, нужно ставить на «ручник». Но коня, точнее, единорога можно остановить, а он зараза даже после остановки всё ещё будет скакать на месте, хотя, по сути, он уже стоит и никуда не двигается. При остановке и выходе из транспорта он может уехать, уплыть улететь чёрте-куда, даже на ту часть карты, где ты ещё и не был. Транспорт так же может просто воткнуться, например в сугроб, льдину или корягу, и не так, чтобы полностью, чуть-чуть задеть краешек препятствия и …остановиться без возможности вытолкнуть его. Раздражает – естесстно!
4) Мелкие недоработки, вроде провала под текстуры при управлении транспортом, невозможности применить «Тяжёлую пижаму» (привет CoD MW3 и лично капитану Прайсу), и сняв её оставить тот облик, который ты задумал, например, снять банану у костюма «Джунглевый боец», пропадание звука на локации после битвы с боссами из Алого Царства ,баг в с прыжками в локации «Замок Синисториуса» (после передачи под управление игрока принца Блуберри он у меня до перезагрузки не прыгал от слова совсем) и ряд других мелких косячков. Не критично, конечно, но хотелось бы, чтобы разработчики, вложившие столько души и труда в своё детище, подшлифовали бы его.
И в заключение, выскажу свои скромные пожелания разработчикам.
1) Добавьте в режим истории «новую игру +». Да, можно убрать сюжетные улучшения фена и прыжков, но всё остальное можно не просто оставить, как, например, оружие деньги и костюмы, но и продолжать улучшать здоровье, выносливость Кэрол и размер боекомплекта у всех типов оружия. Технически, такая возможность у игры присутствует, так, что мешает её практической реализации. Это бы сподвигло многих уже прошедших игру, ещё раз вернуться в созданный вами, уважаемые творцы удивительный мир детства и буйства фантазии.
2) Пока не совсем понятно, для чего в первой трети игры расставлены порталы с испытаниями и получаемыми за них Камнями мечты. Хотелось бы увидеть реализацию данной задумки.
На этом у меня всё. На мой скромный и абсолютно субъективный взгляд, я провёл одни из лучших 88 часов в игре со времён Первого пришествия Крутого Сэма. Так сильно эта игра напомнила мне детство. Но есть в ней и более глубинные слои, а потому, те, кто горят, мол это шутер для детишек, скажем так, глубоко заблуждаются.
Однозначно 10 БанБанов из 10
P.S: Если перефразировать одну из популярных мыслей «лихих 90-х», «Маленький коллектив энтузиастов победил гигантскую игровую промышленность в лице, сами знаете каких студий». Беседы, 2Кака и прочие Био…варвары, учитесь делать игры с душой и для души, а не заниматься копипастом одной, ставшей когда-то успешной идеи и некромантским обгаживанием классики ради квартальных отчётов, всяких политико-идеологических бредней и собственных разбухших…кошельков!

Jeu sympa, je le fais actuellement en live et PUTAIN, il est buggé du cul le jeu hahaha. Les div, vous avez essayé votre jeu ? XD la caméra qui gliche, les escaliers où on passe au travers, et j'en passe! vraiment, si vous voulez voir la quantité folle de bugs que je croise, allez regarder la série XD jpp

Hormis cela, le jeu est magnifique et j'adore l'histoire! Les doubleurs sont super en français et je kiffe ce jeu ! Bien que les devs devraient mettre les CHECKPOINT après les cinématiques bordel de merde !
Et merde quoi ya des bug dans chaque putain de monde jpp...

et les niveau sont labyrinthique de fou !! j'ai du faire le jeu avec une soluce sur le cotée vers la moiter du jeu !!! et pour ceux qui veule faire le 100 sasn aide bonne chance...

Et les 6 attrape reve aller vous faire voir.... ca rajoute de la durée de jeu pour rien !!

Es un juego divertido, difícil y variado, su optimización es mala, apenas corre en la deck, tiene muchos bugs, es un homenaje a boomer shooters, a time splitters a crash bandicoot , es un juego muy difícil, los checkpointa están muy alejados y sinpierdes no se guarda ningún item de los que recolectaste, tiene plataformeo y en el mundo abierto o etapas normales funcionan muy bien, pero en las fases bonus son asquerosamente malos, si vas a hacer plataformas tan jodidamente difíciles por lo menos los controles deberían ser precisos, a veces registra que vas callendo y el checkpoint comienza ahí mismo, estuve atrapado en una fase bonus por horas con cero control, por tu salud mental no hagas estás fases a menos que ya tengas todas las habilidades , es un juego muy largo, llevo como 3 etapas recién, tiene modos de juegos con bots como time splitters, en fin muchas buenas ideas pero está al debe en su ejecución, ojalá sigan mejorando el juego porque tiene mucho potencial.

I'll probably try again at some point, but the lack of audio on the enemies so you know that something is approaching you from off camera is an absolute nope for me. Audio balance overall is an absolute mess and no amount of settings tweaks resolved this. They're working on online multiplayer, but quite honestly they should revisit some basics.

If you can ignore something like this go for it. I understand what the devs are aiming for, but this irritates me too much.

The small team that made this needed some lessons in scope. The game is trying to do too much and what is there isn't implemented well. I'm not sure what the line was for releasing this game out of early access but whatever it was it wasn't the right choice.

Maybe someday they will actually tighten it down, but for now expect huge bugs, softlocks, crashes, and heaps of jank. There is something pretty good underneath it all, but it's just not there yet.

Au départ je comptais faire une évaluation une fois le jeu terminé. Finalement j’ai posé un premier avis après une trentaine d’heures, et je l’actualise après 55 heures, mais, je n’ai toujours pas vraiment fini le jeu. 55 heures, c’est le temps que cela m’a pris pour récupérer Bunbun, et le scénario n’est pas terminé… Et c’est un peu frustrant de ne pas avoir une première fin posée car cela devient un peu de l’ordre de la quête secondaire pénible. Comme je vais spoiler les raisons, je vais avant tout dire le plus important avant : Clairement, Onirism est le meilleur jeu auquel j’ai joué cette année (oui même en ayant joué en Janvier 2026), mais aussi le meilleur jeu auquel j’ai joué depuis fort longtemps, et pour bien longtemps à mon avis. Le jeu est blindé d’ambiances différentes, d’assets de personnages et objets en conséquent. Le jeu est incroyablement long, il est rempli de références aux meilleurs jeux avec lesquels j’ai grandi, la bande son incroyable, le doublage a été soigné, et il y a un vrai effort pour nous mettre dans le contexte de la petite fille de 10 ans avec les bonnes punchlines, et la direction artistique (pas forcément facile de transformer tout en jouet), etc. On sent que les dévs ont mis tout leur cœur à l’ouvrage sur ce jeu, et ça fait plaisir.

Cependant, il y a des maladresses, c’est un excellent jeu mais également une incroyable source d’énervement, qui m’a renvoyé dans mes pires colères d’enfance à smasher des manettes. Au final je me demandais qui était l’enfer entre Carol ou moi, le joueur. La campagne n’est pas de tout repos, et j’ai souvent eu le sentiment de moments gâchés par des maladresses rendant trop difficile ou trop frustrant la partie. Par moment j’avais l’impression d’être sur HALO en Légendaire avec des crânes activés, alors que j’ai choisi l’expérience « Normal » pour découvrir le jeu. En premier lieu, Ô combien il est difficile d’avoir des munitions et de ne pas prendre de dégâts. Carol est fragile, même en trouvant deux droits bonus de vie sur la campagne, j’étais sans arrête en train de trouiller avec ma santé, sachant que les meilleurs objets de soin restaure 30 et sont souvent dans des caisses donc aléatoires. Et d’autre part, même en cherchant à optimiser au mieux mon arsenal, toujours en galère de munitions (idem, en ayant trouvé deux, trois bonus pour agrandir la réserve, mais au final je n’avais qu’une trentaine de munitions maximum ce qui est ridicule sur les moments « serioussamesques ») et j’ai compensé au mieux avec le « largage de munitions » pour peu que les caisses pouvaient tombés à mes pieds.
Mais ce n’est pas réellement le problème, j’ai été plus embêté par des moments sans sauvegardes assez tendus comme les « clones » de Carol dans une structure de la corporation obligatoire dans la quête principale (j’ai failli abandonné ici, c’était à ma première évaluation du jeu, pas certain de continuer à cette époque où les joueurs sont noyés de jeux vidéo à découvrir/terminer, et que faire un jeu dont la campagne va durer des centaines d’heure pour avoir vraiment la fin, est un luxe). Mais plus problématique, les moments où le jeu se prend pour un jeu de plate-forme, les passages « à la Crash bandicoot » me restent encore au travers de la gorge, notamment une séquence vue en 2D, mais où l’on est jamais « droit » faisant qu’on va se prendre des éléments du décors en essayant d’avancer. Sans compter que le jeu ne m’a pas dit à l’achat « attention tu dois pas juste est bon en jeu d’action si tu veux avoir chance d’aller au bout » et le jeu adore sortir de ce qu’il est pour offrir des expériences variés, au risque qu’elles soient truffés de problèmes (comme l’infiltration, ce qui est frustrant car c’est un genre de jeu que j’aime beaucoup, mais je n’ai rien compris à la manière de m’y prendre Onirism). L’un de ces moments gâchés est la phase où l’on incarne le prince, c’était excellent jusqu’au moment où le jeu m’a mis au pied du mur avec des rouages à escalader façon Castlevania sur NES, et c’est là peut-être tout le problème : j’avais par moment l’impression d’être revenu sur NES, avec ces moments complètements improbables de difficultés qui sont probablement easy dans les mains des dévs qui ont passés des heures dessus, mais pas pour le joueur qui le découvre la première fois.
Idem, la section « Battlefront sur Hoth » qui est trop cool jusqu’à que tu réalises que la phase finale est incroyablement dur (morts en boucle, et donc temps qui file) et qu’il faut tout recommencer du début si tu perds.
Et c’est ce qui nous conduit à cette frustration de fin : Devoir tout revisiter, avec des indices flous (d’ailleurs, il est très difficile de s’y retrouver, la map n’aide guère, j’étais souvent complètement perdu) pour accéder aux portails du monde écarlate, dont je n’ai guère trouver qu’un ou deux portails, par hasard, en croyant être sur le bon chemin et me dire, WTF, pourquoi c’est aussi dur là ? Est ce que j’aurai le courage de le faire ? Peut-être pas maintenant après 55 heures de jeu que j’ai reparti sur plus d’un mois, pour sauver Bunbun (puis bon, je m’en fou : j’ai tellement à nouveau 10ans suite à cette épopée vidéoludique que leur problème à eux, je m’en cogne maintenant).

Un petit mot aussi sur les autres aspects du jeu, j’ai jeté un œil au mode Contes, genre de mode survie avec des cartes très jolies, bien qu’il est toujours frustrant que certains environnement comme l’ambiance Japon traditionnelle n’est pas été mis en avant dans la campagne (à ce stade, un chapitre de plus dans l’histoire…), se retrouvant ici et dans les modes de jeux un peu moins importants que certains joueurs je pense ne lanceront même jamais.
Tout ça pour dire, heureusement que je suis tombé sur ce trailer du jeu, appuyant et assumant un fan service pour Serious Sam qui m’a fait acheter le jeu les yeux quasiment les yeux fermés, et j’en ai vraiment eu bien plus que je n’aurai espéré l’imaginer, malgré quelques moments compliqués : rien que pour ça, comme l’a dit Carol, j’espère qu’ils ont mal !
