tedious 2-hour walking sim of the 2d side-scrolling variety. looks really nice and the puzzle mechanic of creating paths for the guy by moving layers of the scenery around is cool at first. then it gets old like the protagonist and sheep herding comes in, pissed me off to no end, couldn't wait for it all to be over.

all in all, the usual indie style over substance, artists trying to make a video game instead of a picture book or short film. and of course it used to be $8 on pc outside a sale, while only $2 on android and $5 on ios, but the price sneakily got increased to $10 about a year ago, april 2025, for no reason. greedy ♥♥♥♥♥.

Очень душевная игра без слов. Мы играем за пожилого мужчину, который после письма отправляется в путь. По дороге он вспоминает ключевые моменты своей жизни, и именно из этих воспоминаний постепенно складывается вся история. Проходится меньше чем за 2 часа, но в ней есть о чем задуматься. С точки зрения геймплея она, пожалуй, скучновата — это скорее грустная сказка на ночь, нежели полноценная игра.

Visually, it truly is beautiful. The landscapes are crafted with great attention to detail, the style feels like a living illustration, and at first, you genuinely want to pause and take in every scene. The soundtrack complements the atmosphere perfectly – calm, unobtrusive, evoking a sense of warmth and quiet melancholy. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end for me.
To be honest, it’s hard to even call this a game. At its core, it’s an extremely simplified walking simulator with rudimentary puzzle elements. The main mechanic – shifting the landscape to create a path for the character – sounds interesting in theory, but in practice, it quickly turns into a repetitive routine. Before long, it becomes clear that the game offers nothing new: no evolution of mechanics, no increasing complexity, no variation. Everything is entirely linear and predictable.
The story is told without words, through visuals and flashbacks. This could have been a strong point, but in the end, the narrative feels overly simplistic and derivative. Perhaps players who are more emotionally inclined will find the story touching. But for me, it felt shallow and predictable, lacking any memorable twists.
Another major drawback is the extremely short playtime. The game can be completed in under two hours and offers no replayability or additional content.
Taking all of this into account, it raises a simple question: what exactly are you paying for? Yes, the visuals and music are pleasant – but that alone isn’t enough to justify the purchase.

However, while the game excels as an emotional experience, it falls short as a puzzle game. Puzzles range from very easy to unclear. Also it is always unclear if a click would interact with an object or simply command the character to move.

Most frustratingly, a game update wiped my progress, which is a tough pill to swallow for such a linear journey. Ultimately, if you are looking for a beautiful story, but be prepared for some mediocre puzzle logic and technical hiccups along the way.

The game is beautifully illustrated, but unfortunately the positives pretty much end there.
In practice, the gameplay boils down to a single mechanic: moving lines up and down over and over again. It becomes repetitive very quickly and gets boring not long after you start playing.

The story is dull at best, and overall the game feels like something that could easily pass as a simple Flash game.

If it were free, I’d say it might be worth trying just out of curiosity. But since it actually costs money, I can’t really recommend it.

The art is lovely and it's a cute story but your only task as a player is to drag and connect paths over and over and over and over. It bored me very quickly.

Kept going in hopes of something more, then to at least finish the story but the dragging slopes just dragged on and after about 45 min I'd simply had more than enough. If anything it felt like my having to connect the slopes was just slowing down the story.

I would have loved this as an animated short story but with only really one task and a few clickable animations in the background it does the bare minimum for being classified a game which wouldn't be an issue if it wasn't so repetative.

Recomend for the art. The audio was also nice and fitting.
Don't recoment for it being boring and repetative gameplay.

Turn it into a short story and I'll be hooked.

Je suis vraiment très mitigée par cette expérience. Ici je n'emploierai pas le mot "jeu" parce que selon moi c'est plutôt un film intéractif qu'un jeu vidéo...

Pour les points positifs tout d'abord, les graphismes sont très jolis et épurés, on ressent bien l'ambiance de chacun des tableaux sans aucun dialogue, les cinématiques sont bien travaillées, et la musique est très belle. J'ai particulièrement aimé la séquence du train que l'on voit dans la bande annonce. C'est une véritable ode au voyage que nous avons ici.

Cependant, malgré tous ces aspects positifs, je ne me sens pas de recommander ce titre. Tout simplement parce que pour moi, comme dit précédemment, ce n'est pas un jeu au sens classique du terme, et encore moins de casse-tête ! Le gameplay consiste à frayer un passage au personnage en déplaçant les chemins, montagnes... De plus, je n'ai pas du tout ressenti de sympathie pour le personnage dont le passé se dévoile au fur et à mesure, donc forcément l'expérience --- dont la durée totale est d'ailleurs très courte---- se teinte alors d'amertume.

艺术的意境上会令我莫名想起一个游戏《Gathering Sky》。
贝塞尔曲线拖拖拽拽的解谜机制还是挺新奇的，对于一个主打美术的游戏，简单的玩法还不会喧宾夺主。
剧情方面...个人不能理解主角的做法，要么别做选择，做出选择了就要负好责任，珍惜好眼前人。

Short, one-playthrough game. It has lovely hand-drawn art and a nice soundtrack as well. I was a little confused by how to play the game, as I sort of kept hoping there would be more to it than just dragging and dropping slopes. I am sure a lot of work went into drawing and composing—it definitely shows. It is indeed very gorgeous to look at, but that is also sort of all the game has going for it, I am afraid. The story is easy to understand but also very basic from start to finish. I don't regret playing the game, but I am not sure if it is worth the hype. Sure, the mechanics are unique and fun, but I feel like that fun wears off after the first 10 minutes. It isn't challenging, so if you like cozy one-time playthrough games, this might be for you. I sort of just wished there was a little more story or some side quests, or that you could have a short chat with the other characters. The game costs around 10 bucks, and it is a fair price, but it might feel a little shallow if you are looking for something a little more engaging.

What a genuinely beautiful game. Just navigating the world is a visual treat, along with the fun and unique mechanic of physically adjusting the landscape to allow our lead character to journey forward. There were a few puzzle mechanics but not too tricky to figure out (my puzzle-loving brain in fact wanted even more challenging areas!), with the main focus being the atmosphere and the story, both of which had a great emotional impact. There is no text, no hand-holding, no telling you where to go or what happened in the past, just beautifully crafted images and animation gently guiding you to an ending I found myself sitting with for a good while. A short experience I highly recommend if you enjoy interactive narratives with a lot of heart.

纯手绘，画面很漂亮。可惜不支持手柄，而且拖拽玩法更适合触屏手机，pc端差点意思。刚开始玩法纯拖拽，一点脑子不用动，会觉得很无聊，后面引入解谜后就好玩了一些，路上很多小物件都可以交互（电线上的鸟，晾衣服的线，房子的门窗，出水口和瀑布等），加上人物故事线逐渐清晰，算是节奏比较慢的休闲小游戏。结局感人，只能说还是要珍惜眼前人。

相对来说比较无聊的一款小游戏，稍微可以说道说道的就画面风格、和场景交互的手法了，但这些内容也并不怎么新颖，游戏整体时长应该也不会太久，预估1小时左右就能结束，且其中大部分时间都花在了老人走路上了，可以说是比较乏味了，剧情也很枯燥，没有什么能够吸引我继续推进下去的点，即使剩下一小部分的内容就能完结了也没能让我提起一丝继续下去的想法，或许是我的年纪以及经历暂且还支撑不起这段回忆的“旅程”吧。
总结：这款游戏比较适合喜欢短平快且休闲的、或者对游戏内的画面风格较为感兴趣的玩家尝试，但就我个人而言，游戏我并不是特别推荐（即使折扣价格便宜的情况下）

“This is not how perspective works”

Well, it does in this game, and it's where it gets its charm - along with stunning art and a beautiful story (told through said art). There's no spoken or written conversations, just an old man and his journey. It's slow paced, giving you enough time to appreciate the art. You'll have to interact with the landscape in order to create the old man's path, leading through the past towards the future.

It's not a long game, but it's relaxing and beautiful, and it teaches us that there can be wholesomeness after sadness.

La primera impresión es: “esto es precioso”. La segunda es: “ok, ¿y cuándo empieza el juego?”. Spoiler: ya empezó.

Ahora, siendo exigentes: la falta de logros duele en Steam, el contenido se siente corto y la rejugabilidad es casi decorativa. También es curioso ver 2731 recomendaciones totales mientras que en el presente hay 3 jugadores: el juego fue querido, sí, pero no es precisamente el tipo de experiencia que la gente “vive” todos los días.

At its core, this is a story about memory. About regret, love, and the gentle weight of choices made long ago. The old man doesn’t rush forward—he moves backward through his own past, revisiting moments that shaped him, moments he may have tried to forget. The journey feels intimate, almost personal, as if the game is inviting you to walk alongside your own memories as well.

The mechanics are simple, but deeply symbolic. You don’t move the character forward—you reshape the landscape itself. Hills rise and fall, paths reconnect, and progress only happens when you learn how to adjust the world rather than fight it. It feels like an honest metaphor for life: we can’t change what happened, but we can change how we look at it. Healing doesn’t always mean moving on—it often means recontextualizing.

Playing this game made me think about how often we avoid looking back because we’re afraid of what we’ll feel. Old Man’s Journey suggests the opposite. Old Man's Journey - это короткая и очень душевная игра без слов, но с огромным количеством эмоций.
Мы играем за пожилого мужчину, который после тревожного письма отправляется в путь. По дороге он вспоминает ключевые моменты своей жизни, и именно из этих воспоминаний постепенно складывается вся история.
Игра берёт атмосферой - минималистичный, но живой визуал 🎨, спокойная музыка и крайне медитативный темп. Геймплей строится на простых головоломках с изменением рельефа местности. Они не сложные, но отлично вписываются в общий ритм.
Проходится примерно за 1,5 часа, но запоминается надолго. Отличный вариант для одного уютного вечера 🌙
Очень рекомендую!

A small Indie game that takes you through the Journey of an old man while he reminisces his past. The art style is beautiful and leaves an impression well after you're done playing it. The gameplay is unique and the controls are quite simple. The puzzle element is interwined into the gameplay very well and I liked it a lot.

This is a great way to pass a quick sunday evening before jumping into any long winded RPG. The game menu is a special mention since it contains only symbols with no text at all. However, it wasn't difficult to navigate.

If I remember right, there are almost no spoken dialogue in the game either. And yet, the story narration doesn't suffer a bit at all. The level design and progression is spot on and you will never feel overwhelmed at any point.

A short and simple but beautiful wordless tale laced with sentiment. It includes an interesting casual puzzle mechanic that links movement access to manipulable terrain, somewhat like changing visual perspective. Pretty to look at and well supported by the lovely soundtrack, it is a slow, casual game that I would recommend to people old enough to reflect on their own lives. The nostalgic will find it sad.

Pros: Beautiful, and a unique puzzle design Cons: middling story and the mechanics gets old about a third of the way through

I think it was an alright game mechanically, I did have it break once and have to exit out of a little chapter and restart that little zone. It's decently made, very pretty and has nice music. Definitely something you could enjoy for a little sad story if you're the type to cry at anything conventionally sad. I didn't find the story very compelling, just ok. I'm glad I played it I suppose, but for trying to be so much a visual story, the environments occasionally had things to do with the story but the puzzles themselves rarely added anything new or compelling. There were a couple of early elements that made it seem like it might be a game you can explore, but it quickly just turned into "drag the slope" simulator and nothing else. There was a train ride at the beginning that was just... constantly rearranging the railroad for what felt like a third of the actual game. I hated that part, and it was jarring whenever the train came screeching to a hault because I wanted to look at the scenery.
Don't make a scenic game where looking at the scenery is antithetical to the gameplay.

I think I'd be interested in other projects from the studio if they had more diverse puzzles and the scenes had more to do with the story? It maybe just didn't land for me because I was just sitting there like "I'm just sitting here literally moving mountains for this old white man" so maybe I was too disappointed that he made exactly the decisions in his life that I expected and it was just a statement and a punctuation on my dissatisfaction at the type of character/ person he was at the end.
I think it's worth it for a buck or two, but I think you'd be better off watching a playthrough and checking out other games from them-- which I might do myself. Good enough game, but I don't recommend it for most of the categories it's listed for.

This game looked so tempting and totally delivered. it has a very interestng and nice concept of finding one's way on a trip through (in the abscence of a better word) "terraforming". These nice puzzles guide us on the journey of the old man, getting glimpses of his life. The puzzles are sometimes a little time sensitive, sometimes they need a little bit more effort.
As a summary: a beautifully made game with a nice story and great puzzles. For me it was a nice game between longer ones.

Like many has stated before, this is a good game, but not one I'd pay full price for. I felt like the story was lacking, and the pazzles became very repititive the more you advanced in the game. I wouldn't really call it a game, it was a story with some elements of game to it. The graphics and music were stunning, but not enough to make me even over the game again.

Dans l’ensemble, c’est un jeu véritablement magnifique. Il offre environ deux heures de jeu, selon bien sûr la rapidité avec laquelle on comprend les énigmes, et je ne vois aucune raison particulière d’y rejouer une fois l’histoire terminée.

Cela dit, je peux affirmer avec certitude que l’histoire et la manière dont elle est racontée valent absolument la peine d’être vécues. Je recommande chaleureusement ce jeu, tout en prévenant que son récit peut être très émouvant.

Bien que le jeu propose en théorie un large choix de langues, en pratique il n’en utilise aucune : tout est transmis uniquement par l’image et la musique. Les mots ne sont pas nécessaires. Les visuels sont superbes, et j’apprécie énormément la direction artistique du jeu ; elle est belle, expressive et parfaitement adaptée à l’histoire qu’elle raconte.

I do recommend this game but only at a steep discount

The art style is beautiful, the OST is very good and charming, the story is sad/ cute; BUT the puzzles where really easy so for that reason and the fact that I beat the game in 75 minutes. 10$ is too much.

S'il est très joli, cela n'en fait pas forcément un jeu agréable à parcourir.

Le gameplay, la DA et l'histoire ne se "nourissent" pas les uns les autres. Donc l'émotion poétique que le jeu voudrait vous faire ressentir peut se trouver fortement réduite pas l'ennui et la frustration du côté gameplay.
Ce jeu présente sans doute plus un intérêt sur portable car avec le tactile la mécanique de gameplay doit être plus agréable et fluide (vous déplacez la topographie pour faire avancer le personnage).

Plus de précision sur les points m'ayant déplu (c'est un avis personnel, le jeu pourra plaire à d'autres):

- "puzzle game" de surface, on s'ennuie et c'est répétitif :
* toujours le même principe de résolution de niveau
* pas sinon peu de croissance de difficulté
* très/trop peu de mécaniques ajoutées au cours des niveaux

- ce n'est pas un "point and click" :
* il y a des interactions quand on clique sur certains objets mais c'est uniquement décoratif, ça
n'apporte aucune information ou consistance à l'histoire. Cela pourrait amener un côté
fouille/contemplation MAIS c'est trop rare pour ça.
* oubliez l'idée d'associer des éléments, de mener une enquête...

- lenteur du personnage (la lenteur rend parfois les essais/erreur de "puzzle" long et donc frustrants)

- l'histoire (cela dépendra des sensibilités personnelles, mais compatir avec le vieux monsieur peut être "compliqué" et on se retrouve donc en décalage avec la DA)

[spoiler] le vieux monsieur a lâché sa femme avec un enfant en bas âge pour aller faire le tour du monde pendant très longtemps. Oui il est triste et il s'excuse... mais enfin dans le jeu on n'a ni preuve qu'il ait fait de gros efforts pour les retrouver et s'excuser de lui même, ni vraiment le temps de voir la souffrance et les difficultés que son choix a amené à sa fille et son ex femme. Pour raconter la démarche du pardon, un peu plus de place pour le vécu de sa femme ou sa fille aurait été très apprécié. [/spoiler]

This is a delightful game, the puzzles are creative and well thought out, the story is charming and heartbreaking in equal measure, the art is lovely and perfect for the game style, and it has the "Up" effect of telling an amazing story with no dialogue at all. I can not recommend this game enough, it is such a wonderful sit through and well worth the time and money.

这款游戏的美术和音乐都非常不错，能让人很好地沉浸在游戏提供的氛围中。整个流程解密类型比较单一，相对简单，总的来说是一个轻解密的步行模拟器。但是我认为剧情是一个败笔。[spoiler]这是一个忧郁的故事，主角在年轻时和妻子相知相爱，但是在生下孩子后一段时间，主角按捺不住自己航海的梦想，抛下了自己的妻女去海上冒险，居住在离她们很遥远的地方。随后就是游戏开篇的剧情：已经老去的主角收到了女儿的信，得知妻子病重，于是他启程回去见自己的妻子最后一面。在走过了许多地方后，主角终于回到了家，见到了妻子的最后一面。最后，妻子去世，女儿接受了父亲的回归，和他一起继续完成航海的梦想。这样的结局让我感觉过于美化了。主角在年轻时的做法是很不负责的行为，就算游戏中讲述了主角在老年时跋山涉水回到家中的辛苦，但是这真的足够弥补这个家庭收到的伤害吗？主角追寻了自己的梦想，留下的是直到死前才见到爱人最后一面的妻子和没有父亲抚养的女儿。我认为剧情对于这方面有些轻拿轻放了。[/spoiler]

Bueno,la verdad que es un juego muy bonito en todos los sentidos,el arte esta god,se nota que lo hicieron con amor y paciencia,en cuanto la mecanica del juego en si me encanto por que es original y metes un poco de cabeza ahí y encima la historia que se cuenta al final de cada capitulo por así decirlo me encanto,y como nota final el final (sin spoilers) es bueno,te revela algunas cosas y (con spoilers)
el ver que el man hizo todo ese recorrido solo para ver a su esposa por ultima vez me parece absoluto cine.
Resumiendo:juego GOD,si buscas un juego corto y chill para pasar el rato y apagar el cerebro de paso,este es el indicado la vdd

I feel like when I play a walking simulator that’s like this, I’m not expecting particularly deep or engaging mechanics- but I do expect a well-told story, and that’s what Old Man’s Journey lacks. It's a predictable tale of grief, and without any dialogue to expand on its themes it just rings hollow. The art style and music are great, but combined with the mediocre gameplay and story, I was ready for this game to be over once I hit the fifteen-minute mark.

斯人老去，只能通过回忆遥想当年
当梦想和家庭产生碰撞，不知道会不会像游戏中的一样选择自己的梦想？
印象特别深的解密类的行走模拟器，主人公是个大爷，剧情就是通过帮助大爷开启看望病重妻子的旅程并且回想年轻时的一点一滴。
在我看来，玩法放在现在还是有新意的，指向点击，用鼠标拖动山峰或者通过一些解密为大爷铺出一条路。
美术全部选择手绘，不同的章节使用不同的的颜色来讲述大爷年轻时的故事并表达此刻的心情。
音乐不必多说，这类优秀的作品，音乐都不会太差。
流程也不长，史低的时候可入，这类独立游戏就是小品级甜品，玩过一遍能记住个大概就就足够了。
