This game is like if Ace Combat and DCS had a baby. It is perfectly balanced on the line of arcade and sim physics. Its simple enough to pick up and play but complex enough for sim pilots to get some extra fun out of it. Dodging missiles and taking out other jets in dog fights is some of the most fun I have had in a flight game in a very long time. The workshop community has made so many cool skins too. I am excited for the new bomber to come into the game.
Buy this game. Play the turtorials. Jump into an online match. Enjoy.

trying to play this on a gamepad is not exactly easy, and the tutorial is one of those where you have to read paragraph's of text. it's probably fun for some people, but not for me.
Had my eye on this for a while and saw lots of videos lately and decided to take the plunge. Super fun. Remind me of DCS, War Thunder, little bit of Ace Combat. Enduring confrontation type games are great. You can fly ground attack aircraft, fighter jets, and even do pilot rescue in a helicopter. Should definitely check it out.
This game reminds me of the ace pilot Michael Plane, in case you didn't know, Monarch and Crimson-1 have nothing on Prime Michael Plane. Prime Michael Plane had 10,000 times the flying experience of the two COMBINED.

Michael Plane has 5,000,000 Aerial dog fight victories, and that's only counting his gun kills, the sick bastard. Sometimes he'll just wait until his enemies run out of fuel, he'll maneuver around them for hours to stop them from returning to base.
Monarch and Crimson-1 once tried dog fighting Michael Plane. They both flew the new prototype PW-MK4's. Michael Plane decided it was too easy. He decided to fly the Vickers F.B.5 with just 2 bullets in the singular .303-inch (7.7 mm) Lewis Gun.
Even in their highly advanced miracle planes the two pilots, Monarch and Crimson, couldn't even see Michael Plane as he had already maneuvered his biplane around the two ace pilots.
Closing in for the kill on the oblivious pair, Michael Plane fired off his only two rounds. One bullet hit Crimson-1 on his left shoulder, the other one landed in monarch's gut. They both ejected out of pure fear.

It's a great game honestly. I will probably stop playing it though because it just keeps crashing on me and I have had enough of it. I get around 30 minutes into the match and when I finally level up and get the plane I want I lose it all from the crash. It's still marked as early access so hopefully this stops happening in the future but until then I might have to set it to the side for now.
The game is War Thunder without the suffering, DCS without the studying and Ace Combat without the infinite ammo.
It's beautifully simple to get into, take thirty minutes, play the tutorials and some of the early missions and you'll get it enough to hop into multiplayer PvE, give that a little time and you're ready for PvP.
If you're burnt out by excessive realism or excessive grind, then this game is a Perfect Option.
How is this only $18 USD? Seriously, this is criminally underpriced for what it delivers. I feel like I stole it.

my favorite part about this game is the way it handles creativity, and destruction with meshes that will interact with different types of damage, and have very detailed hitboxes with damage models displaying different forms in ways that make you feel like a survivor
things like engine fires going away when you turn off your engine, or heat seekers not being distracted by flares as easily when you have your after burner or your engine is on fire is something i personally love
every singular aircraft, ship, and even some ground vehicles are completely original. and take basis off of what modern warfare will look like in the next decade, focusing on long range combat, stealth, and evasion. but most importantly the nukes
nukes arent a game ender, and they can even be intercepted in most cases by Stratolances, which is honestly incredibly realistic considering that in the not so distant future anti-nuclear technology would be invented to counter it in warfare
overrall.. this game does futuristic warfare the best i've seen, even including a bit of new weaponry like high beam lasers that we actually see in deployment in todays navy which is great.
so.. play this game if you want to feel what its like for your average air force pilot to be in WWIII in 20 years time

Honestly, its early access but it runs pretty darn well. The developer really is on to something, he's found a niche between war thunder and ace combat. The community is nice too.

И особенно радует то как воюют боты, бой и с ними пусть и могут показаться легкими , но в случае если ты расслабишься тебя собьют.
Из негативных сторон можно выделить малое количество карт и режимов , и очень плохое обьяснение механик и управления. Также можно сказать странное управление техникой и некоторые детали связанные с этим. Например у самолета медузы отвливаются шасси в случае наезда на почву , хотя у многих других самолетов этого нету. Или управление конвертопланом ,когда от наклона камеры зависит положение винтов (ну или я так понял) из за чего новички не знающие этого постоянно разбиваются
Being a recent early access I think its a good WIP but a few things are making me refund it for now, UI, performance, and controls.
The game runs well on desktop but even low settings don't perform well on steam deck for how rough low settings look. So it could use some optimizing but its passable for an early access.
It may be a skill issue, but I found the controls (at least their defaults) to be difficult on both KBM and controller (steam deck). People like to say its arcadey but as a person that has only played arcadey games like ace combat and star citizen, this is not usable to me. I found myself fighting the plane more than thinking about where the plane will go in the next few seconds. I'm not complaining about bindings, learning bindings is natural for flight games. The issue lies in the controls of flying itself. You can't really just pick it up and fly like you can in war thunder, ace, even MSFS.
The biggest issue to me is really that I cannot stand the engine default look of the menus. Nuclear Option would be served well by visual and audio polish that comes with having art direction, mostly just in the context of UI. Not saying it should copy AC7 but that's a good target to aim for in terms of quality.
I can recommend it if you aren't trying to the money towards something else, because this game will be probably be worth holding onto it if they address these things in the future.

VTOL VR if you dont have VR. Far more Sim than Ace Combat, but no so much that you needto read a NATOPS before turning an engine. This game RULES. Absolutely worth the price of admission, and if the devs have proven anything...this will only get better.
Really fun more arcade-y option in the arial warfare game space. I get solid performance as well. The moment to moment gameplay is consistently fun and engaging, but there are load of memorable highlights as well - an enemy airstrike hitting the base you're trying to take off from is always crazy, and trying to divert your plane to escape a nuclear shockwave is a thrilling experience you won't get in any similar game.

Набої, ракети, бомби, ппо, радари, техніка, літаки, все це поводить себе реалістично, за своєю логікою, своя фізична та аеромодель. Є багато приємних деталей. Наприклад ракета вилітаюча з ппо спочатку вистрибує, потім вмикає двигун. Всі моделі складаються з частин, на які при ураженні розпадаються. Основний режим — протистояння фракцій, розкривається в мультиплеєрі. Режим наче тільки один - сторона на сторону (PVP, PVE). Є редактор місій і при бажанні можна зробити що потрібно. В базовому режимі сторона на сторону необхідно повністю знищити техніку та бази ворога, набираючи очки за це, змінюючи собі літак на кращий. Є можливість "задонатити" своїй стороні (на виготовлення нової техніки, тощо, щоб ваша фракція швидше розвивалася) якщо я правильно зрозумів це. Ще є можливість вибрати техніку на карті та показати куди їй рухатись.

-продовжувати додавати нову техніку, літаки, озброєння;
-нову мапу;
-можливість грати за командира котрий буде вказувати місію пілотам, координувати їх, робити глобальні рішення.

Хтось її навіть порівнював з МОБА. Грається приємно, коли розібрався що як працює. Тут немає процедур запуску літака, гра орієнтована на основні функції котрі працюють добре та злагоджено, не відволікаючи на складні симулятивні інтерактиви. Підтримає баланс між аркадою та реалізмом, не забуваючи за приємні деталі. Оновлення продовжують виходити. Це була приємна знахідка для мене, гадаю ця гра варта більшої уваги людей. Якщо вам цікаві літаки, озброєння, системи що їх пов'язують та бій в небі, або з неба по землі то це ваш вибір.

Would I recommend it? Abso-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-lutely. No need for a 400 page manual or 20 minute video to fly a futuristic Comanche. Binds are fine, plays fine on controller, HOTAS works nicely. Nice middle step between War Thunder and DCS. (The notching tutorial still kicked my ass.)
Fun flying, big maps, mods for skins and custom maps, with a decent community to top it all off.
A very enjoyable game that gets you into the action quickly, without the tedious mission setups that plague other titles in the genre.
HOTAS and head tracking configuration is refreshingly straightforward compared to other flight sims — easily the most painless setup experience I've had. The flight model feels great too; not quite on DCS's level of realism, but more than good enough to be satisfying and convincing.
My current setup: dual VKB Gladiators with the left configured as an omni-throttle, paired with a Tobii Eye Tracker 5 — and everything was recognized and working without any hassle.

Fun dynamic campaign, Fun flight models.. easy to pick up and get into a mission quickly
If you want to play an almost real combat flight game and do not want to deal with every switch in the cockpit, This is the game your looking for. You like ace combat but find it a little to arcade, You try DCL and you need spend ages setting up controls and learning what every button in the cockpit is to much. Nuclear Option is just in the right place, wind is a factor, G-force, Stall speed, only having limited loadout so you need to re-fuel and re-arm, Fuel. Heat, radar or laser guided missiles/Bombs. No hard grinds to level up. Not only planes but helicopters and V-Tol aircraft. if you want to fly out a helicopter and pick up downed pilots you can do that. You can assist in the capturing of an airfield, you can fly ground forces in or drop of some mobile radar truck or SAM/AA trucks, your airbase has been hit so drop off a repair truck to fix it back up. I can say that for the price its fantastic, you get a lot of value for your money. PLUS workshop have a lot of extra missions and skins. And YES you do get to use NUKES from bombs, cruise and ballistic.
I cannot express this enough - This game is AMAZING. It's extremely optimized, has so many things to do, modding, and overall such a fun experience!!! BUY IT!!!

the systems for the game are complex enough to make you think on your feet and have to really plan out things and adjust your strategy, but not enough for it to be unfun. anyone can take 30 minutes to watch a video on youtube or read a guide on steam, then be destroying and dodging instantly.
it's best to join the official discord in order to get mods, since like i said, mod support exists in an unofficial capacity.

Ich spiele Nuclear Option mit meinem Sohn im Multiplayer und es macht jedes Mal sehr viel Spaß was natürlich auch daran liegt, dass ich mit meinem Sohn diese Zeit verbringen darf.
merveilleux mélange SIM-CADE , config HOTAS nikel , mapage des touches rien a dire. gameplay simplifié pour tout ce qui est du decollage et atterissage, par contre plus de challenge concernant les armements (nombreux missiles, bombes etc...) , multi role avec des hélico aussi (de combats et de logistiques) , et les contres mesures a votre disposition ( JAMMER, IR leurres, missiles d interception ) seront a maitriser ;)

Brilliant mix between hardcore DCS sim and lighter depth. Excellent fun and believable sim depth.
first of all, this game is really fun and worth the price. both singleplayer and multiplayer are good, and I think it strikes the perfect balance between simulator and game that immerses you but keeps it fun, the physics are good, especially damage to your plane. I do have a few minor critiques/suggestions however. first off, a helicopter tutorial is desperately needed, the tutorials included are great but there is nothing for helicopters and for someone who isn't a flight sim vet it is nearly impossible to effectively use them, and land unscathed. also I think a wider variety of vehicles and playstyles would be nice, and an expanded system for dropping off units, maybe a way to set waypoints for the ground vehicles you drop. also more workshop support and a way for creators to add their own vehicles to the game. the game also kinda suffers from a lack of diversity in the missions and especially the maps, there are two maps in the game, a big island and a small archipelago, and it can feel kinda repetitive after 4 games of escalation. overall good game 8.5/10, with these changes especially more maps I can see it be a 9.5 or 10 /10
This is the best flight sim-lite I've ever played. It hits that perfect balance of realism and accessibility, the missions are dynamic, the flight models are satisfying, and the damage model is my favourite out of any flight sim.
Perfect for fans of heavier flight sims that don't feel like reading a manual, or fans of ace combat who want something a bit meatier.

Ground-based air defenses in Nuclear Option are extremely powerful. Sometimes it feels like the moment you get anywhere near a defended area, you’re instantly being tracked, locked, and fired upon by multiple missiles. Even when flying carefully—using terrain, countermeasures, or trying to approach from distance—the sheer effectiveness of SAM systems can make attacking ground targets incredibly frustrating.
Instead of feeling like a tactical challenge, air defenses occasionally feel a bit too oppressive. Players often spend more time trying to avoid instant death from missiles than actually engaging with the mission objectives. In some situations, it almost feels like the SAM sites have superhuman detection and reaction speeds.
This doesn’t ruin the game, but it definitely creates moments that feel unfair rather than challenging. When the air defenses are this strong, missions can quickly turn from exciting combat scenarios into stressful missile-dodging exercises.
Despite this issue, Nuclear Option remains a very enjoyable and immersive experience. Its balance between realism and accessibility makes it stand out among modern combat flight games. If the air defense systems were tuned down just a little—or at least gave players more room to counter them—the game would feel far more rewarding.

Do you like nuclear explosions? If yes, than this is the game for you. This is everything I wanted in a flight sim. It strikes a good balance between the arcade style of Ace Combat with the more realistic physics of DCS. The controls are simple, there is no cockpit fidelity like there is in DCS, which is the only downside for me, I wish we could press just a few buttons. But, all the aircraft and missions are free and there is new stuff added constantly. There is multiple playstyles to fit everyone's cup of tea. From SEAD and electronic warfare in an AWACS to high-altitude bombing, ground attack and air superiority in specialized aircraft. There is surprisingly in-depth radar and missile mechanics. The graphics are good for what it is and it may be the best optimized game i have ever played. I am on an Intel Ultra 7 laptop with integrated graphics, I can run it at stable 60fps on max settings. Seriously, I don't know the devs have done to make it run like this but its amazing. The explosions, not just the nuclear ones are some of the best simulated I've ever seen, better than DCS in my opinion.

I love flying, and I'm always a fan of dynamic distruction. And this game has plenty of both. No health points are needed. Planes can come apart if hit anywhere. Radar goes offline. Wings can come off. Controls can get shot up. And the power of nukes is optional. Aircraft serve their own purpose with plenty of weapons to pick from. Ground forces are also numerous with so many varieties and problems to overcome. The game is hard, but if you're smart and brave enough, you can push through any scenario with skill and strategy. And that's what makes this game fun. Always use skill and strategy to use what you got to what you can do. I love this game. Worth playing.

A less than $20 game that I can not put down.
Its like DCS and VTOL VR had a child that learned from its parents mistakes and decided that it wanted to be better. Easy to learn, easy to fly, easy to have tons of fun in.
But also one more thing that I dont see other reviewers talking much about: The mission builder. This game made a stellar mission builder and made it easy for users to both create and use missions created by other users. (Something DCS could learn from).
Great fun worth the money and great replay ability.

I love this game, has a very detailed flight and damage model, and my plane doesn't enter a flatspin when I enter a turn fight unlike DCS. Works great with TrackIR. The online downside is my ♥♥♥♥♥♥ PC that can't handle me having fun and throttles down to 15 FPS and my own skill issue, rest is all fine.
Also this game should be played with a controller, trust me it's better than playing on a keyboard.

Good game! I really enjoy the destruction mechanics, and the variety of planes and ships are in the game. It feels like a simulator and an psuedo RTS had a baby. Still simple enough to play with a controller, but in depth enough to keep you coming back for more and more.
Why did I only find this game now?? I've been playing Ace Combat games since 2001 and VTOL VR since COVID. This is the fun-focused, slightly-absurd flight combat game I needed.
Highly recommend. The flight model is smooth like butter, the weapons hit hard, and it's a delightful time with friends.
Definitely one of, if not, the best Nuclear-Sim or Mil-Fighter simulation games in the post-2020 age. This game I would definitely highly recommend as one of the best underrated games of the year. I'll post in some Pros, Cons and there is an ugly unfortunately that I think many people who desperately look for proper Mil-Fighter simulation will have an ick for.
Pros:
1. Price - Very cheap and that is basically for everything in the game: Fighters, Missions, Maps. For 17.49 euros, this is definitely worth the price for this game. It is significantly cheaper than its competitors like VTOL vr and I would have to say, I'd play this game any day over VTOL.
2. Size - No, I don't mean storage size. The maps are massive, huge, and different between one and another. My personal favorite is the Archipelago, as its size makes the scimitar missile quite useful and makes 5th gen dogfighting alot more fun.
3. Flight model - I have to give credit, for a game like this, the flight model is very unique and I have to say it is realistic for a game that looks almost arcade like. For example, the cobra maneuver is quite hard to pull off in this game as you'd need the perfect speed, AOA, and thrust. Thrust affects how well you are turning and that I really do like.
Cons:
1. Unbalanced sometimes? - Base game, it is quite... an interesting experience. I'm not sure if this is because of my inexperience dogfighting or my skill issue but sometimes the missiles seem to have infinite maneuverability and energy which seems to me a little weird and unfair. ARH missiles are also extremely hard to jam and you're essentially praying to god once you start the ECM Jam.
2. G-Force OP aircraft? - What I mean is that the planes somehow don't seem to break under heavy g-force, even when cobraing at high speeds. Even when you lose control at high speed the planes feel like they're made of bedrock.
3. Too modern - My personal ick but... I wish the ECM was replaced with chaffing and that some aircrafts have analog displays.
The Ugly.
No SARH for Aircraft - Now now, I know what you all are thinking. Tf do you mean No SARH for Aircraft is an ugly? Well, SARH is still a core thing about some dogfighting and it is sometimes quite fun to combat against SARH missile. Trying to evade a foe that tries to hold lock to you while you try to find some cover. You are mostly locked to straight-line trajectory laser-pointed missiles, or ARH missiles that seems to always hit their target, regardless if you Jam from like 67 KM away.
Suggestions:
Well, I don't have much to say. I love what the devs are doing and I understand that they are taking time to make perfect updates. My one suggestion would be to add an adjustable output for the Jamming so that it just doesn't drain slower and slower the less capacity you have on the jammer. Make it so that you can control it.
Great Alternative for those that don't own a VR headset to play VTOL, it's pretty much it without the VR aspect and interactions with the cockpit. great mix beetween DCS and VTOL.
On the scale of Arcade to Simulator, from Ace Combat to DCS, this sits comfortably a few steps on the "arcade" side of VTOL VR. It's a great game.
I love this game! I've played over 2k hours on warthunder and can see myself easily beating that on this game. My only complaint is the controls leave a lot to leave desired. I would love to see the devs add the ability to make and save presets or give planes and helicopters different controls. But this game is super fun and easy to lose track of time. I've already convinced one buddy to get it! I recommend you do the same!

I hope to see this game as it evolves. I am not that good at plane games truthfully and I die a ton in this game. Regardless the sheer dopamine of launching a huge saturation attack on an air defense network to open up the area to be nuked is so peak.
It looks like a very good base for a great game. I miss content, like game modes both single player and multiplayer.
Just perfect! It's almost as realistic as DCS, yet almost as easy to get into as Ace Combat or War Thunder.
Don't hesitate because of the early access. I'm not sure what else they are planning, but the game already feels complete.

Controls: Works flawlessly with my Wingwing Ursa Minor. Very easy to set up. WAY less controls than DCS (see below). Also works great with OpenTrack for head tracking.
Gameplay: A great balance between arcade and sim. Like others have said, this game is way more accessible than DCS. I know that DCS is a simulator and WAY different than this game... but I often find myself feeling like I have a second job trying to learn how to play DCS. This game simplifies many systems and focuses on the fun parts - like evading missiles, radar, and blowing things up.
Gameplay is top notch. Action is constant. Spawn a jet, haphazardly take off in any direction you can, and you can get to the fight in a min or two. Good amount of depth in the flight and weapon mechanics. Tactics and teamwork make a huge difference. Unfortunately, there is not enough of that going on in most matches. Tons of servers online but most of them are empty. I have been able to find a PVP or PVE match any time of day. Even servers with a small pop can be fun though due to the nature of the game. There is always something to attack/defend regardless of how many people are on the server. Game modes could use some work. Maybe a ticket or score limit or something. Eventually one team will be pushed back into one spawn and sometimes it can take a while for a match to end.
This is definitely the best game in my library. I don't know why it's in 'early access', since most triple A games are buggier than this game. This game does a lot of things right, to name a few:
Games like this aren't easy, but the missions are fun and learn the basics of every aspect there is to learn. I definitely recommend doing all the missions before going online for multiplayer. If you've done the missions, you have a nice edge on most players. But definitely not all. Easy to learn, hard to master applies here.
The multiplayer is the most fun part for me: you can apply all the stuff you learned and try it out here. Every time you get shot down, you'll learn and think about what you will do different next time. Also, there's no 'pros totally owning noobs all the time' here. The maps are big, so you can quite easily evade confrontations and focus on destroying npc ground targets, which contributes a lot to your team winning. So there's always a way to feel like you're playing an important role. As you get the hang of it, you keep learning on what is the best opening strategy and what steps to take next, there's endless freedom in this. For example: at first I thought it was impossible to defend the South Boscali base as BDF (you'll learn what this is), until you try all kinds of things in single player, notice there is a way to keep South Boscali and then try it in multiplayer, to see it works (or maybe not, depending on how good the enemy players are)! It's like a game of chess with endless possibilities.
This game is easily worth 50 euros.

I had a moment in this game yesterday that sold me on it forever. I was in a dogfight, got my tail absolutely shredded, and lost both engines. I was dead in the air, gliding toward the ocean with smoke pouring out. Instead of ejecting, I pointed my dead weight of a plane at an enemy base, hoped for the best, and managed to crash into a parked bomber on the runway.
The game counted it as a kill.
The physics are deep enough that moments like that happen organically. You’re not just flying health bars; you’re flying a collection of parts that can snap off. The HUD is clean and doesn't clutter the screen, which is nice because I need to see clearly while I’m panicking. If you like sandboxy combat where the game doesn't hold your hand, this is a hidden gem. Multiplayer is chaotic fun, but even the solo missions vs. AI are solid.
Way better that what i expected, i would like more aircraft controls like manual flaps, visual infantry fighting etc
Do you love sim flying games but hate all the nonsense that comes with them? Want the close air support chaos of something like ARMA without needing a PhD to take off? Sick of grinding War Thunder just to finally unlock the plane you actually wanted to fly in the first place? Same..
Nuclear Option just gets it right. Pick your aircraft, go blow stuff up, drop some bombs, and have a great time doing it. The barrier to entry is surprisingly low, but there's still plenty going on with different weapon systems, AA threats, and enemy fighters to keep things interesting and challenging. It doesn't talk down to you, it just respects your time.
Solo, co-op, or PVP are all available. Run missions with friends and it's been a great time, but however you want to play it the game supports it.
For the price they're charging this is a steal. If you've ever bounced off a flight sim because it felt like doing homework, or quit War Thunder because you're tired of the grind, just grab this one.
Highly recommended.
This game is great.. Easy to learn hard to master.. I loved VTOL VR but can't be bothered with VR these days, so this is perfect. I just wish I heard about it sooner, there's so much fun to be had here. Its an almost perfect middle ground between something like DCS and a game, but anyone that likes planes/helicopters and blowing stuff up should give this a go.

Good replay value, lots of workshop missions for singleplayer, PVE, and PVP.

PVP can be fun but it is also very sweaty.
Only 11 aircraft at the time of me writing this review, however they are planning to add more.
Hitreg for missiles and guns can be pretty bad in multiplayer but it depends on the server and the host.

Performance can get pretty bad on larger missions especially when there are a lot of players/AI flying around or when there is a lot of ordnance flying. Even on decent hardware.
In some servers, players can join any team which results in most of the skilled players joining on one side or one team being outnumbered.
The tutorials need to be worked on. It can be pretty annoying to take your hands off the controls to press “OK” when you are getting shot by a missile for both of the missile evasion tutorials.
Very common to get kicked from player hosted servers for shooting the host down.
You need to go into the registry editor on windows if you want to change the resolution.
It can be pretty overwhelming to a new player if you know absolutely nothing about military aviation E.g. notching radar guided missiles, throttling down and presenting your side before you deploy flares, ETC.
Community is quite toxic.

It is very much a sandbox game. It think it is fun. Could be another option to war thunder if they add more vehicles later. But I enjoy it.

5 stars at $17. This game doesn't waste my time. That kind of respect for the player goes a loooong way with me.
Lots of combat scenarios, you get to play various fictional aircraft (based on real ones kind of), with a solid physics engine, and instant action. I'm not wasting 3 weeks of grinding just to play a low level plane I barely enjoy. Just jump in, choose how you want to play and fly around blowing ♥♥♥♥ up.
Very cathartic, I have fun whether we win or lose. Playing well is rewarded, playing poor is still fun.
I struggle with shaky hands, so the map is difficult to use for me, but this game is a steal at $17. Buy it for yourself and friends.

Excellent game. It's really fun to play and keeps you coming back. You don't need to memorize aircraft systems like DCS. It's more of a "simcade" type. Strategy is key and knowing how to strike different targets is key. I'm looking forward to see what the future holds for this game.
After about 18 hours of playing Escalation against AI, here are my first impressions:
For those concerned about steam deck support: you have to tap some of the menu features/bind mouse and click to the right touchpad, but other than that the game has excellent controller support. I basically solely play on my deck.
The tutorial is good but not all-encompassing, and expects you to be at least somewhat familiar with basic concepts of flight and air combat (what a velocity vector is, what different munitions are and what their intended targets are, etc.). This can lead to some frustration if you're new to the genre (like me), but a little supplementary research goes a long way. The tutorial also gives NO instruction for the helicopters and other VTOL craft in the game, which led to some "learning experiences" involving counterrotation and civil infrastructure. Overall, you have to google some of the information. Things like "what is this kind of missile used for", "why is my helicopter spinning", etc.
The good thing about the tutorial is that it teaches you how to properly use your countermeasures, how to do some basic flight maneuvers, etc. You don't really have too many moments dogfighting in this game. Two interceptors may have to do some fancy flying if they meet eachother, but, for the most part, they'll shoot a missile at eachother in passing and go on to hunt more important aircraft.
BVR missiles also exist, and are good for harassing aircraft at range. You'll sometimes get a kill with them too.
The issue that people talk about with the radar and SAM coverage does exist, but can be accounted for. Yes, it's a bit unrealistic for the airspace to be THIS contested and to have enemy radar coverage over every major airport, but they're also not immediately shooting missiles at you, even though they could. Instead, radars effectively limit the altitudes planes can fly at, requiring you to effectively use the terrain as cover and plan out your flight paths when carrying out strike and bombing missions.
You basically have to do pop-up attacks on every target to hit it, and to ensure your payload will hit, you have to spend some time taking out the local anti-air installations while ensuring you keep your altitude limited to avoid being missiled to death. It can be frustrating, and requires a fair amount of skill, but it's (usually) not unfair, just hard. You can perform easier missions and just strike ground vehicles instead if you want, it still helps your side pretty significantly.
The game has surprisingly few bugs, and the ones that are present aren't a huge deal. Sometimes a missile just doesn't notify you it's locked on at all and your plane just kinda explodes. Sometimes missiles lock on a little too good and no amount of countermeasures can stop them (yes, both flaring and notching w/ jamming). Occasionally your airbase is nuked immediately after you buy your plane and you just lose anything that blew up. These are frustrating when they happen but don't happen often enough to write off the game.
Some parts of the game design can be frustrating, but understandable, i.e. if you want to drop a nuke on a site, you have to destroy ALL AA, SAM, etc. emplacements at that site, or destroy a few and drop a lot of small bombs in addition to 2-3 nukes to ensure at least one hits. Spamming cruise missiles with the Darkreach is unfortunately effective, and you can take out enemy destroyers and installations at long ranges with it. ARAD missiles are more effective at hitting planes with radar than they are at engaging radar installations at BVR. Enemy installations can sometimes shoot every single thing you fire at them down if you aren't able to spam a LOT of munitions at once.
Overall, very fun game with a lot of nuance and a rewarding learning curve. Blowing things up with heavy ordinance in an airplane is always fun, and you do a lot of that, so I enjoy the game.

the Tarantula is a absolute beast of a vehicle and i love flying it because you can (peacefully) drop a LVT on a airbase and kill everything so its yours now :3
один из лучших симуляторов реактивных самолетов с балансным управлением, достаточно симуляторным, но не слишком. у каждого летательного аппарата есть модули, благодаря чему он рассыпается на кусочки при получении повреждений. огромный арсенал вооружений, много разных типов самолетов и вертолетов, много видов целей и пво.
а так же частые глобальные обновления, постоянно работающий на серверах мультиплеер пве/пвп. идеальная игра

decent vehicle variety, they're all fictional but with pretty obvious real world inspirations. You've got a curt selection of CAS, multi-role fighters, stealth bombers, helicopters and VTOLs (I suck at flying the helos and VTOLs) incl. some cargo vehicles so you can deliver ground units in gamemodes like escalation
plays great on controller and HOTAS, no comment on mouse and keyboard but I hear there are people that like those controls as well
multiplayer is real easy to setup, just make a private game and invite your friends, nice little selection of preset game modes so you don't have to fiddle around
mainly just needs VR support, which is on the roadmap from what I read, but I'd also like if the workshop supported custom vehicles/weaponry/maps and not just liveries and custom scenarios
Incredibly fun. If you love games like Ace Combat and War Thunder you will find plenty to enjoy here.
Incredible gem of a game with alot of depth. The soundtrack goes unbelievably hard with every aircraft having it's own theme song when you lift off that matches the kind of aircraft it is. The mix of strategy and sheer spectacle along with plausibly authentic futuristic aircraft simulation is a wonderful touch that allows them freedom in gameplay balance, overall fun, and most importantly making it accessible without feeling like sim that is dumbed down in complexity to arcade-level.
Unfortunately I must add that there are only 2-3 PvP servers that I can join on the East Coast and one of the servers that are most populated being hosted by atomictaskforce.com. I was in a lobby and killed somebody in an expensive jet that was attacking my base using my cricket right after lift-off and got banned. This is unbelievably toxic behavior and I hate it when some random ass-hat holds a monopoly on the playerbase of the game. PLEASE add more official servers as the one official one is often full with a cap of only 16 players!
It's a great option for when you don't quite want the complexity of systems operation that exist in games like DCS. It has a lot of actually quite detailed systems such as the RCS, stealth, and spotting mechanics. I do think that being able to notch a missile against the sky is silly though...
Nevertheless, this dev has basically made a flight sim with a more complex combined arms simulation, with some logistics, than DCS has in 10 years, in under 3 years. I wholeheartedly recommend it at this price.
I like this game a lot. It's a pretty forgiving sim once you get the hang of it. Aircraft handling has this tactile feeling to it, with plenty of different-feeling airframes to play that all act as different tools for achieving your goals for the macro game. They even get their own theme music. The people here are excellent.
Amazing game especially if you have trackir and a hotas setup. Wish the mission editor had a lot more features though
I mean nukes are an option in this game, so the title is correct. But i never saw peace and constructive discussion as an option. When will the time come where we can set aside our differences, and just talk? Are we too far gone to just make peace through dialogue? I was beat as a child.

Отдельно стоит отметить авиасимкады — это особый поджанр, сочетающий реализм авиасимуляторов с более доступным и динамичным геймплеем.
В целом авиасимуляторы и авиасимкады можно пересчитать по пальцам — их весьма мало как жанр.
Что на счёт игры то каждый бой отличается от предыдущего, и играть можно бесконечно — прямо как в сраную Доту. Даже несмотря на то, что наземных юнитов и летательных аппаратов в Nuclear Option не так много, как хотелось бы, разработчики активно вносят и анонсируют новый контент с новыми механиками. Это дарит игре большое разнообразие в боях и открывает простор для других тактик.
Nuclear Option отлично играется как на ПК-сетапе, так и на джойстике. ИИ здесь не тупой и вполне может дать прикурить.
Если вы человек который вообще не знаком с авиацией, эта игра вполне может занять у вас какое-то время на обучение игрового процесса.
Из минусов готов пиздецки поругать:
1) Редактор миссий — он очень неудобный и, откровенно говоря, на момент написания обзора выглядит просто херово.
2) Нет полноценного обучения. Всё обучение состоит из кратких уроков: взлетел, сел, пострелял, увернулся от ИК-ракеты, увернулся от радарной ракеты всьо ПИЛОТ ГАТОВ. Про вертолёты вообще ничего нет.
Например, я сомневаюсь, что кто-то знает (если не копать самому), что в игре можно:
1 управлять наземными юнитами через карту;
2 спасать пилотов на вертолётах;
3 сбрасывать из грузового отсека М12 Jackknife, чтобы тот чинил вашу базу от повреждений;
4 захватывать вражеские базы пехотой;
5 пополнить боеприпасы на вертолёте, даже не летя на аэродром, — просто сев рядом с грузовиком со снаряжением который часто сопровождает ваши союзные конвои. Это дает большую эфективность ведь вы не покидаете поле боя и можете активно наводить суету по карте.
3) Это я не готов ругать но для кого то это будет минусом:] (лично для меня нет) так это отсутствие русификатора. Игра только на английском
ОЧЕНЬ интересно, как будет выглядеть N.O, когда выйдет в полноценный релиз, буду следить за игрой.
К покупке советую, потому что на релизе будет стоить дороже и хз на сколько.
