그럴싸한 비주얼에 뭔가 싶은 조작감.
지형이나 부스터 사용에 대한 효과가 없어 게임이 굉장히 밋밋함.
차가 달리는 느낌보다 그냥 허공을 허우적 대는 느낌이 강함.
게임이 수월하지도 않음.
한번 삐끗하면 그냥 재시작 해야 함.
개발경험은 커녕 약간의 재능도 없는 아마추어가 포트폴리오 채워 놓을 용도로 만든 듯한 수준.
개발자가 레이싱 게임을 해본 적은 있나 싶음.
그냥 아무 생각 없이 만든 게임.
The game is fun I like the graphics I like using my steering wheel with the car The only problem I have is one thing when I try to use my mouse to select option it keeps jumping and not working so I have to hurry up and try to push enter before it jumps off to something else can you please fix that I can't even buy my wheel the way I want to bind it because the mouth keep jumping up and down and the keyboard won't leaving let me use it let alone my controller so I can buy my steering wheel to the car and two The camera view is it anyway you can add a camera view when planning VR inside the car when we staring so we can feel like we actually inside the car racing with the steering wheel that will make it more funner I like the camera view it just that one thing that's missing from VR playing in VR that makes it more realistic it's inside the car staring it can you please add that if you can fix the mouse issues so I can select on the menu and add another camera view inside the car driving the game will be perfect and if you can add collision to the cars cuz they fly like ragdoll sometimes like bumper cars but the game is fun The graphics look good I like when your car turn into a boat and floats over the water I like the futuristic look looking for it to DLCs more expansion of the game maps better environment maps in the future overall I have no more other issue with this game besides those things you can add those things and be amazing thank you for a great game and thumbs up on the wheel support for the people that own steering wheels That's a therm up for us it makes it fun thank you

Cars slide around like they're driving on ice whether its ground or water and the physics just feel very wrong because of it. Bumping into something, whether its a rock or an opponents car, could mean spinning out or coming to a complete stop. Meanwhile the opponents drive on rails but are lifeless. Sound design is mediocre at best with car engines that have no power behind them and music that sounds like it was taken from a $4.99 sound pack. The cars and tracks look good, and that's about the only positives this game has.
Something more could have been done to it, like easing the player into the more slide heavy physics, better sound design, better goals to race towards, even car customization, but unfortunately all we get is a slippery mess with not even any achievements to show for it.

Rise: Race the future is one of the best-looking games I’ve played on my PC. Handling is responsive and I had a lot of fun racing. The lack of multiplayer doesn't mind me but the repeated generic music and environments leave a lot to be desired. Nevertheless, this racing game has a lot of content and the visuals are certainly fantastic meaning that whilst this game doesn’t reach first place, it still deserves a place on the podium.
Fun game- arcadey and slippy. Worth it.

Overall I would recommend this game. Great graphics, quick to load, and a good amount of content without a season pass etc.
Driving is satisfying but also punishing, it feels good to drift around corners and nail lines. But overall handling the cars is a bit too slippery, even more so on water. (the switch ver of this game has an option slider for vehicle handling and fixes the issue, but this is missing on PC?)
Music is usually subjective, but I would be surprised if anyone was blown away by the music here. For me it's as generic as it gets. I recommend turning the music off and playing one of the Ridge Racer soundtracks.
The game itself doesn't have much flavour, transforming into hover-cars and racing over water could have been the added spice, but they don't really do anything with it. No waves, ramps, or waterfalls, etc- it might as well be driving on ice..
That being said I don't want to hate on it, the tracks all look great in a Sega kind of way and it's pretty fun when you're in the zone.
I got it 70% off and I'm happy with this purchase

Rise é um jogo muito bonito, feito para VR, com gráficos muito bonitos, bem clean. Apesar de não ser totalmente feito para controle, tendo alguns menus que precisam do teclado e do mouse, acho que a jogabilidade é boa e divertida, apesar de o jogo em si ter controles muito sensíveis, e os seus rivais serem bem injustos, sempre tentando estragar sua corrida. Recomendo para quem curtia jogos de corrida lá do PlayStation 2.

RISE is essentially a single player, arcade racer with a subtly futuristic aesthetic and a less subtly futuristic twist wherein your car Marty McFly's itself over the faintest hint of a puddle. Overall, it's a well made and enjoyable racer with plenty of variety to keep you engaged. It's worth £15 and certainly worth picking up on sale.
In depth:
Whilst there's only a few racing biomes, the arrangement of tracks across these areas allow for a wide selection of adequately different feeling races, ranging from short and fast circuits to lengthy, technical ones. The mixture of racing surfaces, dirt, tarmac, ice, water (yes water) and the variable weather conditions keep the races feeling fresh and new.
The car selection is perhaps a little more limited, consisting of only ten vehicles, but each vehicle is exceptionally well designed and each has fairly unique handling characteristics. Those characteristics can be further refined to personal taste with a selection of three sliders on the vehicle select screen, a feature I believe wasn't initially included at launch but patched in later based on feedback, and by selecting the way in which the car's boost meter fills up. As the performance of the cars increases you may well find yourself relying on these modifier to make them more controllable.
There's a good variety of game modes too; a career mode that not only requires winning races but fulfilling specific criteria per race (such as never being overtaken, drifting for a certain distance, or reaching a certain speed), a more standard championship mode, single races and time trials. I personally wasn't bothered by it, but it should be noted that there is, however, no online multiplayer.
The music is sadly a touch forgettable and generic, but the sound effects are otherwise exemplary.
I would say the car handling may be the make or break factor on whether you enjoy this game; whilst I would consider this game to be more of an arcade racer than a sim, the physics are a little more on the realistic side and can be unforgiving of mistakes; for instance if you hit a jump wrong, or clip the scenery, you may well end up spinning out in a way that looses you the race. Flying across the water can be equally fraught with danger as a car hovering along at full pelt, unimpeded by friction, is apparently very easy to spin out. Flying across the surface of a lake requires you to pick sweeping, smooth race lines and to avoid sharp cornering.

A pretty standard but cool arcade racing game with an acceptable amount of content for the price, especially if you get it on a sale.
Horrible. El auto no tiene control. O seguis de largo y te chocas con todo o usas el freno de mano y te chocas con todo. Me recuerda al Asphalt (el juego de celular), con esa conducción increíblemente arcade. Te meten el pretexto de que son autos del futuro cuando simplemente tienen el truco del vice city activado ''seaways''. Si, gráficamente se ve bien, pero solo eso. Lo demás es horrible. Y peor aún cuando cada competición tiene su propio reto y si cumplis 2/3 retos, tenes que hacer la carrera devuelta para obtener la posición de oro. Por ahí para switch safe, pero para pc, con tantos juegos de autos que hay, no vale la pena. Básicamente es como ganar una carrera con un auto patinando sobre hielo.

l'UI est complètement buggé il s'affole totalement que ce soit avec la manette ou avec le clavier, impossible de paramétrer tout ça, et pire encore en course impossible de faire rouler la voiture, que ce soit avec la manette ou avec le clavier, sans parler des graphismes qui sont juste nuls pour un jeu actuel. je suis déçu :/

I don't know if this is an iOS port or it was launched on multiple platforms at the same time, but it looks like a mobile game (the low poly futuristic zeppelin is always there as a reminder) and it plays like one.
- Pros:
- AI is OK.
- It can sometimes gives you Ridge Racer or NFS2SE vibes.
- It's camera settings should be in every other racing game out there.
- It has a VR more (for some reason)
- Cons (Oh boy!)
- Graphics (is an iOS game), It looks like Riptide series.
- innovation. Is a flatout boring game, boring challenges, boring tournaments, boring OST (it fits more to any cruising game like ETS2 than a racing game).
- nothing feels like a car. Physics is closer to an antigravity racer but slower.
- Challenges is a chore.
- Mini map and arrows is a mess. It shows all possibles layouts so most of the time you get lost in the water part of the track.
- If you touch the mouse, controller stops working 'til you get in a race.
- Suggestions. This game needs:
- Split screen
- Replay mode (Come on devs it's a racing game after all)
- 360 Right Stick camera control
- Zeppelin has to go
- Single race mode (I believe it was included in some older version of the game, Idk why this isn't a feature). No time attack is not enough.
- A dept of field post effect would be nice instead of ugly filters.
In the end is OK to pick this up and play for a weekend or so (I almost finish the game in 14 hours), but for this even I can't recommend this (not on sales either),
Controls on water are fine, but when you are on the road it feels like you are on the water again.

Great 'technical' arcade racer with fantastic 'concept car' aesthetic. I think too many people think of Burnout or even Mario Kart when they think of arcade racers, but this game draws it's inspiration from the Sega classics where technical mastery is key, not shortcuts and catch-up mechanics.
I'd held off on this game for a long time because of complaints about unfair difficulty, but after finally picking it up I have to disagree. The game can be a big challenge, but there are a multitude of difficulty levels and wildly different handling cars that I think most will find their way through the game. No (noticeable) rubber-banding either, which is a HUGE bonus in my book.
If you love Sega Rally, Daytona, and the era of 'technical' arcade racers, give this one a go.
Rise: Race the Future is a fast paced, arcade racer that's just exploding with style. Now this is an old one, but believe me, it's worth the revisit. I first got it on the Switch, and back then, I knew this game was something special, it looked and felt great, but I somehow just never got into it, but now, well today I'm reviewing the PCVR version, and let's just say, as good as the flat version was and still is, VR once again raises the bar. Rise Race the Future VR is a whole new beast.

Llevo 45 minutos de juego, y puedo decir que para estar muy básico el juego es más divertido de lo que parece, para pasar un rato es disfrutable. Por un 70% de descuento esta más que bien.
Tiene gráficos de Asphalt 8 y es más divertido y no es difícil de jugar, la IA es bastante decente.

This game found its way onto my ssd at the exact right time. It was exactly the game I searched for. An arcade racer without cheesy cutscenes, no weaponry stuff just pure racing in beautiful sceneries. At the beginning I was like mnja, but after 2 tracks it got me hooked and I wanted to get my 100%. The steering is very fine despite what other reviews have mentioned. it takes a while to get accustomed but drifting and boosting feels fast and really good. Odd though, it has no multiplayer included...
But now after 10hrs and having played it through completely I don't have much more to unlock and have seen all the levels. Don't have a vrheadset but I can imagine it being super fun

The game ran with max settings at 1440p, 144fps on the monitor without any notable issues. No complaints about VR either.
Opinion:
+ The near-future car designs are nice.
+ VR mode works well, even if there's no proper cockpit view. A hood cam is the best you'll get.
+ Despite the store page not pointing it out, it does support cloud saves.
- No Achievements/Trophies
- Barebones presentation. No flashy intro video, or attact mode. No story. No announcer. The cars must be self-driving because there's nobody in them. Not even a congratulations for finishing the challenges and championships. Just no personality at all.
- The music is dreadful. The most generic rock you will ever hear, more fitting for a bad TV commercial than a videogame.
- The minimap is useless because it shows you every possible route at all times instead of the specific track you're currently racing.
- Racing on water doesn't really add much to the experience. It would've been nicer if there were a few water only circuits.
- Your car is always one bad jump, one bump from the AI or one spot of bad luck away from going into an inescapable skid.
- There's no rubber banding, so if you get into a snag on the higher difficulties you may as well not waste any time and restart the race.
While it's commendable that the game was still able to release despite one of the lead programmers passing away, Rise's lack of polish keeps it from greatness. I would give it a mixed rating if I could, but I will instead give it a begrudging recommendation. I do so because despite the problems, I still found it entertaining enough to complete the Arcade Championship and Challenge modes. This shouldn't be your first choice for an arcadey racer, but maybe it's worth a shot if you've already played everything else.

Fantastische graphics maar net niet zo fantastisch als GriP.
De geluidseffecten lijken eerder onafgewerkt want je hoort enkel de motoren van de verschillende bolides maar voor de rest amper iets anders. De muziek is ok maar niet meer dan dat!
Qua rijgedrag sluit ik mij aan met de rest van de reviewers, het racen voelt niet echt top aan, wss ook te wijten aan het gebrek aan soundeffects, maar ook qua besturing!
Toch vind ik deze game een erg leuk tussendoortje maar het hoort absoluut niet tot de toppers!
Het afwisselen van de ondergrond en het voertuig dat zich aanpast van wielen op de grond tot zweven over over het water lijkt mij vooral leuk. En er is wel redelijk wat afwisseling tussen de racemonsters en trajecten plus ook de weer effecten zijn leuk meegenomen.

+ beautiful tracks and landscapes
+ a lot of challenges and a championship mode
+ different difficulty modes (which you'll most likely need to change during the game)
+ some sense of speed if you choose the bumper view
Negatives:
- handling is so so and rather difficult
- floaty feeling when driving, its more like hovering above the track than driving on it
- driving on water is even harder
- some cars are just horrible to drive, so avoid to use them
- not enough variation in landscapes and tracks
- the higher difficulty levels are too hard, I recommend to use the two lowest levels
- sense of speed is not the best, there is not much difference if you are driving in 60 or in 200
- boost does not do much difference either
If you want a challenging futuristic arcade racer, and its on sale, this is a ok game to buy.
But be aware that the handling is difficult, so only use the cars that are drivable.

我通关了NS版，NS版本更新，画面更好，有双人模式。缺陷一致：
1、远处场景加载不出来。
2、缺少新手引导，全靠自己摸索技巧。
3、镜头在车后，拐弯时视角扭不过来。镜头在引擎盖上，引擎噪音太大了。
4、平均车速太慢，只有200km/H。平均车速应该在300km/H才好玩。
5、大打转方向盘轮胎会打滑，但只有完全停车才会停止打滑，减速也没用，这明显是BUG。
6、游戏玩法只能是背地图，重复玩，背技巧，自己设置合适的操作方式。
7、有些设置能看懂单词，但看不懂是什么。没有中文。
我学到的技巧包括：拐大小弯、过坑、入水、出水、过坑拐外、出入水拐弯，不同时速下刹车、手刹、先刹车再手刹、先手刹再刹车等。
建议：
1、添加中文。
2、加速时增加镜头拉伸效果。
3、删除越车视角，只保留在引擎盖上的视角，并把引擎声音缩小。
4、添加一些教程，教玩家技巧，省得玩家自己摸索。
5、删除所有游戏外的AI动画。
6、把所有车改装，平均车速增加100km/H。
7、增加无限氮气的引擎。

Nice futuristic Arcade VR racing game (without cockpit view). The Game looks and feels great! Played with my XBox controller.
As an arcade racer fan, I enjoyed this game! Runs and looks great!
Is pretty, its arcadey, its fun, VR works fine.
But it doesnt support g29 racing wheel, and on 29 Mar, 2019 the dev said he would fix it, and as of today, still hasnt.
Forums seem to indicate there is a way to make it work, but in my experience didnt work at all.
Game looks great, runs pretty good, but the game seems abandoned, and instead of fixing the issue the dev points to a guide that doesnt work, and is pretty out dated.
So essentially if you want an arcade racer that can be played with controls or kb it might be worth it.
If you intended to play it with a racing wheel, as Jebus intended all racing games to be played... youll probably be dissapointed.
Probably earns a RECOMMENDED, as outside the racing wheel issue, there arent many problems, but the "abandonment" makes me hold on that until they keep their word.
Rise : Race The Future est un jeu de course automobile arcade… tout ce qu’il y a de plus arcade.
Composé de 4 environnements, tous avec un circuit principal modulable ce qui donne au final 8 courses que l’on refera en mode reverse soit 16 courses par environnement et 64 courses au total.
Autant dire que c’est assez limite dans l’esprit. Alors oui, le jeu coupe un passage pour en ouvrir un autre… mais le circuit reste dans l’ensemble le même… la lassitude est présente sur le long terme.
Si le jeu présente bien dans son aspect visuel comme un top model, il faut se méfier des apparences… Effectivement, c’est coloré, visuellement agréable et avec des petits effets (gouttes d’eau sur l’écran lors des passages aquatiques, salissures sur les véhicules lors des passages sur terre,…) mais tout cela est plus du « tape à l’œil » car à bien y regarder on s’aperçoit que les textures (hors véhicules) sont peu détaillés et que les reflets sur nos engins ne sont pas toujours en corrélation avec le détail (à l’image d’un reflet d’un arbre sur le toit de la voiture alors qu’il n’y en a pas à côté de nous ^^
Et des détails comme cela, on peut en trouver d’autres, les effets d’éjection d’eau lors du passage des véhicules en mode aquatique qui sont inexistant…
On pourrait dire, oui mais tu comprends c’est un jeu de courses on s’en fout des graphismes… ben pas moi, surtout que je le répète… on a que 4 circuits principaux ce qui laisse pas mal de temps pour faire les à-côtés… Et ce sur coup, les développeurs ont bien compris la problématiques car ils ont tout simplement pas mis de mode Replay (pour éviter que l’on commence à regarder un peu plus le moteur de jeu? ^^)
Côté gameplay, c’est un peu la même chose… il y a du bon mais aussi du mauvais (pas du très mauvais… juste du mauvais).
Sur le bon, la conduite est vraiment agréable et les dérapages en utilisant le freinage et le boost permettent de vraiment avoir une conduite fluide. Bien qu’au début, jauger quand utiliser les 2 éléments n’est pas des plus faciles, les deux premiers mode de difficultés vous permettront de vous entraîner sans avoir vraiment à vous soucier des adversaires (à moins de vraiment faire n’importe quoi, vous arriverez toujours à être premier).
La conduite sur l’eau est vraiment bien travaillée et faire des angles à 90° est vraiment des plus plaisants.
Le mauvais c’est que la conduite ne change pratiquement pas malgré les conditions météo ou de route (hors eau), que le manque de vibration de la manette renforce cette impression, que le boost ne fait qu’ajouter quelques effets de flous pour indiquer la vitesse et un véhicule qui se décale un peu vers l’avant… wouaah c’est…trop fort…
L’IA ne comprend que le A… en fait, ils ne font que suivre leurs rails et n’hésiteront pas à vous poussez si vous avez le malheur de vous trouver en travers de leurs routes alors n’hésitez pas à leurs rendre la pareille… Après tout, c’est un jeu arcade (il n’y a pas de gestion des dégâts).
Certains regrettent un mode multi mais à vrai dire le jeu n’est pas conçu pour cela où alors c’est que vous n’aimez ni les autres (ni vos amis). La petitesse et la redondance des circuits n’aident pas à jouer à plusieurs. Pour ma part, j’ai fait les courses en petits morceaux (3 ou 4 courses par jour) après je trouvai cela trop répétitif.
On a un mode challenge qui permet de débloquer les quelques véhicules (10 véhicules) avec des spécifications différentes mais au final c’est celle de la vitesse qui est la plus visible…humm (tout est relatif). Certaines courses dans ce mode impose des objectifs mais ils ne sont pas tous à faire en même temps… en réalité, si vous en réussissez un, il ne sera plus à faire la fois suivante tout simplement…
Le mode arcade vous propose des championnats… il faut arriver premier à la fin d’un championnat pour passer au suivant et un mode time attack…
Personnellement, j’ai beaucoup aimé le mode challenge qui débloque les circuits, véhicules et stickers mais le mode arcade n’a pas d’intérêt en sois… à part refaire les courses sans plus…
Rise : Race The Future est un jeu arcade vraiment sympathique mais on est loin du jeu ultime. Il remplit toutefois bien son rôle. Visuellement agréable à parcourir et jouable, son mode mode challenge vaut bien la peine d’y jouer. Mais n’y cherchez rien d’autre…

After the first race I thought this game was going to be the closest thing we'd get to a new Sega Rally for a while. Then the next race I did I'm on water. WTF?! I didn't read any reviews before purchasing, so obviously this was a surprise.
Handling is knife-edge. Once you lose the back end it's impossible to get it back. I call this phenomenon "default spin" because it feels the same every time, no matter how you spin the spin is the same. A lot of games have it. However, what I like to do is figure out the handling and drive within this parameter and it's possible here. It's fun.
Graphics are okay, nothing special but not awful. Sound effects very average by today's standards. Music is above average.
Definitely wait for a discount, probably more than 50% off. Racefans only.

Great game! Pure ARCADE at it's finest. Wonderful graphics, great UI and top notch gameplay! Lightning is perfectly ballanced and wonderful pallet of colors to boot. Great rain/mud effects and fog effect is top too.
With a ton of challenges en Championships, this is great value for money!

HELLO! I have been waiting what feels my entire life to write this review and i cannot wait.
So about a year ago i found this game and i fell in love. It has so many things i like about it. For starters its a racing game that just feels really good. I dont like games that make me feel like im driving in a straight line all the time. This game has excellent level design. And the way the cars feel is unheard of. The steering feels so touchy when u first play it but once u get the hang of it its perfect. I really enjoy all the play i get with my controller while driving. I can get fancy with my stick movement, my gas and brake, and the handbrake is amazing. Some games the handbrake dosent feel right but here it has alot of respect from me.
The graphics are awesome. I enjoy the car design and game concept. I like the missions the game gives u. I enjoy exploiting the game such as when im doing a drift challenge but am coming up short. I can just drive backwards and make up track to drift more. I love crashing into the AI and seeing them tip over. Its almost like physics from DRIFT .
Near the end of the game **SPOILER** you get a truck with amazing handling, then the final car is fast as ♥♥♥♥ and makes the whole game feel worth all the grinding. It took me about 20hrs to beat last year. But now that i know u can set the game to easy it will take me less time to beat this time.
Now for the negatives. And i wanna ♥♥♥♥ on the devs as much as i can here truly.
SO last ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ year i bumped my computer power cord while racing in this game. IT COMPLETELY CORRUPTED MY SAVE FILE. But it gets worse.
So even after deleting the game, and trying that BS in the properties called "Verify game files" or whatever, i could not get the game to run anymore. I tried for monthes man. Until one day i just gave up and accepted the fact that i could never play this game again. And my main interest was to play the time trials because i found a few level skip parts . A few areas where u can jump over track parts to skip parts of the level.
I went on the steam forums for this game and i had no help at all. One guy had same issues and the devs of the game were nice enough to help him fix it somehow. I could not for the life of me figure how to get a fresh install of this game.

I rebuilt my entire pc from scratch. New motherboard and processor, and fresh windows ten key.
I get my new computer set up with my steam and low and behold this game works now.
Honestly i cant wait to play more. Just did like 2 hrs and loving it.
But a message to the devs. I think your pieces of ♥♥♥♥. I messaged you on the steam forums, and i messaged u directly on twitter with no help or response. I couldnt get a refund either which is BS if the game wasnt working for me . If your gonna make a game you need to make it work for the people who bought it and actually like it.
I dont reccomend anyone buying this because of the issue i had with the corrupted file and no help from devs. But strictly looking at this as a racing game, i give it 9/10 for the way the racing feels.
I like this. It's good, honest arcade racing fun. Not many bells and whistles but I think that's OK. The only thing I don't like is that the first car seems to handle better than the next two. I did turn down the difficulty level in settings, too, as I was getting beaten too much in the default mode. Other than that, yeah I haven't played in VR, but enjoying pancake mode so far. The graphics are nice, environments look really good.. I'll play it again soon.

Great game
I thought I liked this game, but I don't.
So if you're reading the reviews, you've probably noticed that the most common criticism is that your car is difficult to control- this is true... if you pick one of the faster cars with tighter turning. If you pick the slightly slower, more tanky car, it's mostly fine.
This was what I did for a good chunk of the game, and for that good chunk it was fun. I was getting a handle on how drifting worked, how to make the most of your boosts, and so on. It was tough, but enjoyable.
Then I got to late game. Late game is where all this game's problems are amplified tenfold and it just becomes ridiculous. You essentially have 2 options: Car that is fast enough to actually beat the challenges, but slips so easily and is so light that the game is basically unplayable... OR... a car that actually works, but is too slow to keep up with the AI racers who are all using the fast cars (whom have no trouble with slipping, btw). I think you see the problem.
Another serious issue is that the AI is terrible. It feels like they have a pre-scripted path they have to stick to and have no sense of situational awareness. This means they will absolutely let you plow into them, and worse yet, brainlessly plow into you. Combine this with the slippery controls and you have moments where a car just shows up out of nowhere, bonks your trunk, makes you spin into a 180, and boom you're in last place. Oh, and the challenge was "never be in last place", so better restart.
The big plus is that the art direction is nice... but there's only 4 environments, so you wind up seeing the same setpieces over and over the whole game. It loses its flashy points after about 2 hours.
All in all, I got about 9 hours out of this game before I decided I was done with its BS. I got it on sale because I was just in the mood for a racing game, and I guess for just trying to scratch that itch, it was good enough. But I would not recommend buying it at full price.

Aimed for the stars (F-Zero, Wipeout, Ridge Racer, Sega Rally) and came plummeting back to Earth. Weird, novocaine-numb handling where the car pivots on its center of gravity (rather than just actually turning) until the car's tires break their limit (which is somewhere at like 50% of the left stick's movement), at which point the car begins to oversteer hard into the apex of the corner, usually uncontrollably and while losing a lot of speed. This lends to drifting feeling pointless, and giving way to adopting the AI's more realistic "Slow in Fast out" approach to cornering, where you brake hard before a corner, hit the apex and boost out of the corner.
This exacerbates the game's equally novocaine-numb sense of speed, and the fact that it will take hours (and most of the game's offerings) before you unlock cars that go faster than 150 MPH while boosting. If it weren't for your car's flames turning green and the silly wave effect at the top of the screen, it really doesn't feel like your car does anything when you hit the boost.
The AI's not horrible. They're fairly fast enough and don't have crazy rubberband catchup, but don't do anything more intelligent than sticking to the racing line and "trying" not to collide with things. They also weigh n o t h i n g, meaning PIT maneuvers happen often, sometimes accidentally, and usually taking them out of the race.
The hoverboat parts actually feel pretty good (especially with the Martini Racing Lancia homage), but the course design craps the bed here. Most of the water tracks are mazes with no clear indicator of what line you should take on the first lap. The minimap is no help, as the minimap shows ALL ROUTES of the cookie-cutter tracks, rather than the route of the current course you're on. There is a lot of 180 degree turns on the water courses as well, with very little heads-up from the extremely zoomed-in and tiny minimap or the course itself, usually leading to you overshooting and respawning. The dirt courses are pretty nice with lots of banked turns and some inclines, but it's wasted on the weird handling that I don't want to fight.
The menus/GUI make me die inside, to the point that I usually just dropped my controller and reached for my mouse. Having to hold down A to toggle between options is frustrating and unintuitive to decades of gaming norms. Having options on multiple levels and diagonals is frustrating to select through with a controller. When you do move the mouse, the game will not allow you to do anything with the controller unless it's hitting B to go back a menu, at which the game will switch back to Xinput control and let you select things with the controller again. This is Medal of Honor Warfighter levels of bad menu design.
The music is buttrock and was turned off within seconds.
There is no multiplayer, as the game is VR focused. I don't own a VR headset, and neither does anyone else. I've heard the VR implementation is alright, but I don't honestly care about that.
Ugh
I give it a 4 out of ten. it has not made a good impression fir the first 15 minutes I have played. I will eventually give it an hour.
Pro's:
- Nice visuals,
- VR support.
Con's:
- Car physics have little weight to them. They oversteer a lot and have have way too much traction in some cases. Rarely a case of understeer on tires. Especially when they shift to hovercrafts. You'd expect them to understeer way more and be more boaty.
- cars do have a cool futuristic look to them and turn to hovercrafts when going onto water but they lack any sense of speed, You'd expect them to go high speeds like Wipeout with how they function as ships, it's a huge miss.
- Tracks are very short and rather flat. the random bumps in the muddy tracks are rather annoying than fun, often seem to be poorly placed right before corners, so racing lines and overtaking opponents is not fun, especially when the cars often oversteer like a ♥♥♥♥♥.
- AI is very basic, it is very easy to spin them out with no defense or recovery on their half.
- For an arcade game, it lacks rubber banding. This is not a sim, there should be a chance of recovery if you do happen to spin out.
This is fun for 15 minutes, but after that you'll want to move onto something else. It looks and sounds good, but you have to use the same car over and over in an attempt to unlock other cars... problem is that you'll lose interest before you begin getting the cool cars.
VR implementation was spot on. It was smooth and the camera was good too. I would've liked to see the camera angle up higher so you could see the road ahead a bit easier.

Sendo o ponto forte do título, o trabalho gráfico se destaca pela ótima seleção de paletas de cores diferenciando bem os climas entre um cenário e outro, combinação de cores dos carros, que também possuem designs atraentes, uma transição entre o que temos agora e algo futurista, além de efeitos de partículas bem críveis. O destaque, como não poderia de ser, por ser o mote diferencial do game, vai para a água, extremamente realista. A direção de arte do game pecou apenas em não ousar um pouco mais na questão futurista de um game que possui "Future" no nome. Tirando o fato de os carros planarem na água, e seus designs um tanto quanto diferentes dos atuais, nada remete ao futuro.

O maior desafio para conquistar o público atual. O pessoal das antigas quenem o tio aqui que jogava em casas de fliperama sabe que cada cockpit na época possuía suas características, formatos e maneira de ligar, interferindo completamente na jogabilidade entre um game e outro, sem contar também nas engines extremamente diferentes entre si, uma tentando se diferenciar da outras de alguma forma. Pois bem, pegar uma jogabilidade difícil e tentar mestrar era comum na época dos Arcades e neste quesito RISE se comporta como tal. Longe de tentar simular a realidade em nada além dos gráficos, assumidamente Arcade, RISE não apresenta desgaste do veículo além de um pouco de sujeira. As batidas são bastante artificiais e causam um pouco de estranhesa no início. Para este review joguei em torno de 2 horas e comecei a me acostumar com a jogabilidade (e a gostar de fato do game) quarenta minutos após iniciar, o que acredito ser um tempo que o público atual não desprenderia. Contudo, após mestrar, o game passa a ser muito divertido e competitivo em seus dois modos de jogo que apresentam horas de desafio: Championship e Challenges.

It's hard to find a decent VR game, this one looks great and it plays All Right; maybe there's something missing in the menu presentation or overall gameplay to really make it stand out, but I can't really point out for sure what would make Rise special, for it to Rise among racing titles... Get it? :v

Yes, it works with a gamepad but awful wheel support and no in-car cockpit view kill it for me.
Hope this gets sorted as it could be a great arcade racer for VR fans. VR is the only way to play driving games now in my opinion.

Cons:
- No sense of speed OR control of your car (which is essential for an arcade racing game)
- Once you lose control of your car - there's no way you finish first
- Boosting makes (almost) no difference
- Lack of visuals or/and car damage

A la prise en main, le jeu semble bien, fun et légèrement différent puisque ces voitures sont un mix entre voiture de course et hydroglisseur.
Mais au fur et à mesure que j'ai avancé dans le jeu, c'est une déception.
Niveau graphisme, le jeu est pas du tout au niveau
Neige ou terre ressemble à un amas de texture, seul l'eau semble pas mal
la conduite est arcade, mais pas de frein sur les voitures, un frein à main qui fonctionne pas si bien non plus et une IA toujours avantagé si vous êtes derrière.
En plus il n'y a aucun mode multi, un comble ...
Je le déconseille, même si à 15,90 € c'est pas cher, mais vaut mieux regarder du côté de la franchise Dirt, Grid (même si ancien) ou alors plus simulation Automobilista, Assetto Corsa, etc
I haven't played this game for too long, but I don't need to to give it a strong recommendation, these devs are well known for being the mostly 2 person team behind GBA 3d games, that 60fps 3DS fps, among other things. I am running this game on a gtx 1060, and i can run this game at high settings, at 2160x1200 windowed, at a smooth 144fps, and it still looks beautiful. These devs deserve way more attention, and triple a's need to learn how to optimize their games like these two people. TWO PEOPLE. these triple a's got ten bajillion dollars and they can barely chunk out a 60fps.
tl;dr these devs are godlike, support them

Incredibly fun arcade racer, very beautiful futuristic designed cars, fun tracks and very reminiscent of Ridge Racer. Challenging AI and lots of diverse tracks that include driving on water!!
VR - Tracking is very well done and takes the thrill to new levels! Very happy I added this one to the library! Highly recommended for VR or without!
I bought this game as a stopgap to keep me busy until Xenon Racer and Dangerous Driving (RRRRRREEEE EPIC STORE, etc.) are out.
While not AMAZING, I have to say this game is surprisingly good for something that only set me back $16. The tracks have some really nice visual appeal and the cars are elegantly designed. While the racing gameplay itself is very straightforward it delivers on being fundamentally sound.
My major complaints are the lack of vibration effects on the controller, a somewhat low sense of speed, and very floaty physics. The last one in particular takes some getting used to as the cars struggle to stay weighted to the ground. A lot of the courses seem like they're the same average length as well, which can feel a bit short.
Still, for $16 it's hard to fault this game. I'd give it a look if you're interested in a racing game.

Так что из всего что заявлено в игре и описании меня не удивило и показалось затертыми до дыр идеями. Едь по строгому маршруту из преград, не врезайся. Игра "Michael Schumacher Kart World Tour 2004" смотрится куда интереснее и пизже.

I wanted to like this game. I really did. I grew up on arcade racing games, and I'm a big fan of VD-dev. They did some amazing black magic on Nintendo handhelds, all the way up to the 3DS. But this game's otherwise fun handling model has a fatal flaw: if you turn just hard enough in a corner, you can spin out with no way to counter-steer out of it. Given the difficulty and behavior of the AI, you'll probably never catch back up if you didn't have a big enough lead. The cups are structured very lazily, too. The first cup is 9 races long, and it doesn't look like you can restart from the beginning, which brings me to yet another problem: the clunky menus. Who thought selecting an option, then holding A to be able to make changes to an option was a good idea? If there's a way to restart a cup from the beginning, it's not intuitive or prominent.
I seriously hope it's not too late to make changes to this game, because I think it'd have some real potential if they polished it some more. But as it stands now, I can't really recommend it.
J’adore les jeux de voitures très orientés arcade et tout particulièrement la série des Ridge Racer. Rise : Race the Future en est très fortement inspiré avec des véhicules puissants partant en glisse au moindre virage.
Deux modes de jeu sont disponibles : l’arcade où vous participerez à divers championnats d’une dizaine de courses chacun à la difficulté croissante et les défis où vous devrez accomplir toute une série d’objectifs (terminer au moins troisième, atteindre 215 km/h, ne pas utiliser le boost, etc.).
En parlant de boost, trois choix sont possibles : recharge lente quand vous roulez vite, recharge rapide durant les dérapages ou recharge à chaque nouveau tour.
Graphiquement le titre est plutôt agréable et vous pourrez découvrir 32 circuits répartis dans 4 environnements différents (ou 64 si vous comptez les courses en sens inverse). Certains tracés comporteront des étendues d’eau, dans ce cas votre véhicule se modifiera à la volée pour flotter et le pilotage sera totalement différent. Vous devrez également vous adapter aux conditions climatiques, sur route trempée par exemple les réactions du bolide ne seront pas du tout les mêmes.
Au fil de vos exploits, vous débloquerez une dizaine de voitures de plus en plus puissantes pour exploser les chronos.
Il est par contre un peu dommage que la navigation dans les menus ne puisse pas se faire entièrement à la manette, de façon assez incompréhensible certains boutons restent inaccessibles sans se servir de la souris. Autre petit regret, le jeu ne propose pas de mode multi, ni en local ni en ligne. Ça aurait pu être intéressant car l’IA est assez limitée, elle se contente de suivre un trajet prédéfini, quitte à tout percuter sur son passage.
Mais bon, j’ai passé une excellente soirée dessus et je suis persuadé que Rise : Race the Future plaira à tous les amateurs de jeux de voitures très arcades. De mon côté je le relancerai de temps en temps avec plaisir pour valider les défis et boucler tous les championnats.

An underrated kind of arcade rally game, with lot of qualities !
But what drove me to buy the game is the implementation of VR, and this game does this very well ! Simple, efficient, very well optimized, that's all we ask !
Rise RTF is not the ultimate arcade experience because some features lacking, but it has very solid bases and open to go far away !
We must encourage these developers because they have done a remarkable job on the overall production, seem very open to suggestions from players and want to go further !

This game came out of nowhere, and it's surprisingly good.
Good amount of content, low price what else ?
The only three cons that i think of is the lack of multiplayer, the difficulty the AI is too easy on Pro (Which was set as default for me, i know i can change but i wanted to see if it were going up in the end but sadly no). And the challenges while i like them they were the same on every season so repetitives.
Other than that it's great, i enjoyed it.

I have played Assetto Corsa, Project Cars, Dirt Rally, Race Room, and other lesser known racing titles. However, there aren't very many arcade racers in VR at the moment. The big one that comes to mind is Trackmania Turbo (which is not really a classic arcade racing game). This is a pure, classic arcade racer set in what looks like a futuristic world in the not too distant future.
There is not a cockpit view. However, you can change to 5 different views. The over the hood or first person (first car?) view is the closest to the cockpit view, but I prefer the over the back, up-close view (traditional arcade racer view). You can change the settings to go to Pro difficulty, which I strongly recommend, otherwise the game may be too easy.
The menus do work in VR, but navigating with a controller is a little on the clunky side and not intuitive. There are lots of tracks, some weather & track conditions, some day settings, etc. There is a challenge in the higher difficulties. Overall, the backgrounds look okay, but nothing spectacular. There are some nice vistas here and there.
I found the gameplay to just be okay. I've just played better arcade racers like Need for Speed, Project Gotham Racing, or Burnout compared to this title. I would prefer to just play Project Gotham Racing or Burnout in VR over this game (somebody please make it happen!). The collision physics especially seems to be off. It does feel like you're always floaty or on skates. There's no real feel of your tires being on the roadway. Power slides, drifting, jumps, could all have been done better IMO.
[b]Rate 6.5/10. I do recommend this because it may be in fact the best arcade racer in VR (outside Trackmania Turbo which is a subcategory really of arcade racing), but that doesn't mean it's all that great. I hope a better franchise of arcade racer comes to VR.[/b]
Rise: Race the Future è un progetto dai trascorsi travagliati. Inizialmente annunciato nel 2016 per tutte le piattaforme da gioco dell’epoca (addirittura la compianta Wii U), con il tempo si è dovuto ridimensionare a titolo PC-only, in attesa di un riscontro di pubblico che potrebbe farlo arrivare anche su console.
Il titolo automobilistico dei francesi di VD-dev si propone come una sorta di Ridge Racer futuristico e dall’impronta ancora più arcade, in cui attraverso un discreto numero di tracciati sarà possibile affrontare una modalità sfida e una modalità campionato. La prima vi permetterà di affrontare delle gare con un obiettivo molto specifico, che va dal non farsi mai superiore al non toccare mai il boost; la seconda sarà invece strutturata come i campionati tipici del genere, con una corsa dietro l’altra a comporre otto mini-tornei i cui è possibile classificarsi solo tra la prima e terza posizione. È inoltre possibile sbloccare nuovi veicoli da aggiungere alla vostra scuderia per un totale di dieci, tutti in realtà piuttosto simili tra loro.
Nonostante l’approccio fast-paced sia una piacevole sorpresa – soprattutto in un mercato VR che predilige la simulazione – il grosso problema di Rise: Race the Future è la totale mancanza di personalità. L’immaginario del titolo si posiziona a metà tra il sopracitato Ridge Racer e un’estetica alla Micro Machines, peccando tuttavia in incisività e mordente. L’italianissimo Redout in questo caso riesce a fare incredibilmente meglio, nonostante debba anche lui quasi tutto ad un grande titolo del passato.

Quelle surprise!! enfin un super jeu de course d'arcade VR , accessible et fun , cela rappelle grave un certain SEGA RALLY lol ! Le jeu est graphiquement beau et fluide il se joue à la manette XBOX , cependant quelques points viennent noircir le tabeau , je comprends pas qu'il n'y ai pas de VIBRATION pour la manette XBOX c'est la BASE pour un jeu de course de cette catégorie , du coup on perd en IMMERSION , il n'y a pas non plus de COURSE DE NUIT et de mode MULTI , quelques CIRCUIT en plus ne serais pas négligable , bon j'espère que le DEVELOPPER modifiera cela assez rapidement avec du DLC car RISE: RACE THE FUTURE à un énorme potentiel ! :) :) :)
Ich finds echt genial. Geile Grafik und nette tricky Strecken und ne geile Fahrphysik. Sehr gelungen. Macht echt Spaß. Der Preis ist angemessen. Ein wenig Verbesserungen müssen noch, aber es ist sehr unterhaltsam und Spannend. Die KI bzw. Ai Gegner sind in einer guten Stärke und manchesmal schwer zu überlisten. Immerhin hab ich im Arcade Modus den ersten Platz erhalten 163:150! Aber grade so. Für mich ein sehr gelungenes Racing-Game. Und die Fahrzeuge sind nice. (Y)!

My Thoughts:
A surprisingly good arcade drift racer with futuristic cool visuals and gameplay. I hope the developers look into adding a cockpit view.
I mention in the video that this game reminds me of another arcade racer... it was Ridge Racer. This feels like a Ridge Racer type game in VR.
This game is nice in graphics and in tracks, BUT The REALLY CRAPPY cars the game gives you either allows you to turn a little eaiser or speed up a little bit more quicker. YAY for beginning of the game.
I have gotton through one championship and the second is really challenging, I am giving up at this point. the turning of the car's just make this game HORRIBLE to play.
Its like playing a racing game with car's that do not wish to turn when you get to a corner.
Im putting a negative on this game as the game works hard to go agenst the player. You can win if you choose to only speed up on the right type of track but this game Its annoying me far too much.
Uninstallling and forgetting this forever.

Ein schönes und schnelles futuristisches Rennspiel mit Wagen die auch über das Wasser gleiten können. Das Handling ist zwar etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig aber nach einiger Zeit ist auch die Steuerung kein Problem mehr. Die Musik ist treibend schnell und die Grafik, für ein Spiel dieser Preisklasse, sehr gut. Top.
It's an arcade racer. Nobody makes those anymore. Unlike the plethora of WipeOut and F-Zero clones around this is more like the old Burnouts or RidgeRacers. For the price it's totally fine. Lacks some polish and multiplayer.

Dommage que l'aura très plaisante de Rise Race The Future soit ternie par quelques défauts agaçants, car il fait partie de ces jeux d'arcade sympas au gameplay à la fois fun, accessible et raisonnablement exigeant.
À l'instar des Sonic All Star Racing, votre bolide se transforme automatiquement en hydroglisseur au contact de l'eau, et le comportement du véhicule (notamment l'adhérence bien sur) change alors du tout au tout.
On constate également des changements de ressenti de surfaces entre la terre, l'asphalte ou la neige : appréciable.
Sur le plan technique, le jeu tourne impeccablement sans drop de FPS (GTX 1060 + i5). Les graphs sont franchement réussis, assumant très agréablement leur identité arcade, et sur le plan sonore, musiques et bruitages sont dans le même ton.
Le gameplay demande un léger temps d'adaptation, mais s'avère vite jouissif une fois qu'on a pris le coup.
Les décors bénéficient d'une direction Artistique plutôt classe, et proposent des variations de lumière et de météo au rendu assez honnête (pluie, neige, brouillard).
On commence avec 2 voitures aux stats différentes permettant de diversifier la conduite (on peut apparemment en débloquer une dizaine au total), les véhicules (esthétiquement assez classes) sont disponibles en divers coloris & stickers, et les sensations de vitesse sont bonnes.
Le système d'obtention du boost est paramétrable (soit il se recharge lorsqu'on atteint une certaine vitesse, soit en dérapant, soit on a un stock défini à chaque tour).
Deux modes de jeux principaux :
-Le mode Arcade (lui même divisé en deux modes - "Time attack" & "Championnat").
-Le mode Challenges, qui propose 8 saisons dont chacune se compose de 8 courses comportant elles-même entre 1 & 3 défis différents à réaliser. (Genre terminer 2e ou mieux, déraper sur 50m, utiliser le frein à main X fois...)
Bref, plein de bonnes choses, c'est franchement pas mal.
On peut cependant regretter certaines absences:
- Pas de courses nocturnes.
- Pas de vue cockpit (une vue capot & "ras du sol" sont cependant disponible en plus de 2 vues externes plus ou moins rapprochées.)
- Aucun mode multi : il se joue uniquement en solo - et même si en ce qui me concerne ça me convient parfaitement, ça sera sans doute rédhibitoire pour d'autres...
Je regrette égalemement que la Ionos (la dernière voiture du jeu - un PLAISIR à conduire) arrive finalement si tard, alors que ses excellentes performances seraient utiles beaucoup plus tôt ; et que même en l'ayant débloquée, ses stats ne suffisent tout simplement pas pour terminer proprement et donc [i]normalement[/i] deux ou trois courses réellement problématiques.
"Problématiques", c'est le mot, car il est temps d'aborder le 1er souci (qui ne se fait heureusement sentir qu'assez tard) : L'IA.
Comme souvent dans ce genre de jeu, les voitures adverses sont sur des rails, et dès que ça commence à jouer à touchette un peu violemment, soit une des voiture se retrouve dans le décor, soit les deux.
- Normalement, je ne considérerai pas ça comme une tare dans la mesure où ça oblige justement à jouer "propre", sauf qu'ici sur certaines courses, c'est l'IA qui est parfois suffisamment agressive et sale pour te pousser sciemment dans le mur!
- Il arrive également que devant vous, les IA s'encastrent entre elles dans certains virages, et qu'on se retrouve ensuite coincé dans le carambolage qui obstrue bêtement la voie : crise de nerf garantie!
- De plus, certains adversaires en "boost" pourront vous rentrer directement dans le ϲul par derrière sans aucun moyen de les voir venir, et ça immobilisera votre voiture en plus de la tourner à 180° (voire de l'envoyer dans les airs)... Dans tous les cas, votre course sera foutue.
- Dans certains défis de niveau avancé (c'est à dire quand on a bouclé environ 75% du mode Challenge), l'adversaire vient même cartonner directement dès la ligne de départ.
Dès lors, ces courses ne consistent plus qu'à éviter à tout prix de se faire percuter - du moins quand c'est possible, (c'est à dire quand c'est visible et donc prévisible).
A ce stade où on passe son temps à relancer en boucle une épreuve foutue en l'air à répétition par l'IA déloyale et hyper abusive, l'envie de balancer le pad et de désinstaller commence fortement à poindre parce que remporter certains challenges relève dès lors de l'aléatoire à 80%. (Sur la 1ere course "Odera Crater" de le saison 7 & la toute dernière course par exemple, le comportement de l'IA dégueulasse est juste INFERNAL... Et c'est pitoyable).
C'est vraiment un truc complètement raté et injuste qui gâche beaucoup le plaisir : J'ai adoré parcourir environ 80% du mode Challenge, mais terminer le reste à été pénible à cause de ça - et tout particulièrement venir à bout des deux courses mentionnées, qui ont été un vrai cauchemar! (Puisque même avec la meilleure voiture du jeu - la "Ionos" donc, il faut relancer le défi encore et encore et attendre bêtement qu'un carambolage se crée en VOTRE faveur pour espérer prendre la pole position et rester suffisamment à distance des autres pour ne plus vous faire percuter : débile.)
Bref, le terminer à 100% a été hyper gonflant - mais c'est faisable avec de la patience et SURTOUT de la chance...
Autre problème : l’ergonomie des menus.
Comment peut-on OSER proposer un support manette seulement "partiel" pour ce genre de jeu? Sérieusement les mecs, vous avez conscience qu'au pad, c'est impossible de changer de voiture, ou même simplement de changer de circuit ou de mode de jeu en Arcade dans votre menu POURRI ?
L'unique "flèche" interactive au controller 360 est pour changer de saison en mode "Challenge" (preuve que si c'est possible ici, ça l'est forcément pour le reste), or partout ailleurs une souris est indispensable pour faire défiler voitures, modes de jeux, et circuits en Arcade!
C'est la putaіn de FONCTION d'un menu de pouvoir "naviguer" simplement et confortablement - or que ne soit PAS réalisable partout au pad, c'est vraiment du foutage de gueule ou de l'incompétence!
Bref, même si c'est vraiment un petit détail, je trouve ça franchement inacceptable. Ce jeu a quand même bien été testé non? Personne n'a rien vu ni rien dit???
J'espère que ce sera patché rapidos...
Je ne m'acharnerai pas davantage sur ces détails pénibles, étant donné que le jeu reste heureusement très cool et fun dans l'immense majorité de ce qu'il propose, surtout vu son prix très abordable...
Le tarif de 16€ pour ce Rise Race The Future me semble très correct et honnête, et ayant personnellement profité des soldes, je ne regrette absolument pas les 12 balles investis.
Un jeu vraiment sympa dans l'ensemble.
