The mystery part does fall a little flat, especially towards the end, but I had a good time with this one. The writing is mostly very solid (I was pleasantly surprised!) and the art + character designs are so pretty!

This is a good read, and I enjoyed it.

Whether I would recommend it to others?

Well, I found the detective / mystery aspect to it kind of lacking, as it felt like the paths of enquiry were just stabs in the dark before it all came together. It didn't feel very cohesive as a mystery, it didn't feel like we were really figuring it out. But I guess this is more police procedural.

The 1980s US bible belt scenario felt very authentic, not just in terms of the usual things people use to represent the 80s; fashion, hair, make-up... but also the darkness of conformist conservative society of the time. It's so engrained into everyone that it's kind of ruined their lives, and they've barely even realised. And oddly, that's kind of the best thing about this story. That is doesn't need to tell you outright, you just witness it all.

The language felt very authentic to the era - on one hand, this was good writing, but on the other hand... it might just be me but because they're authentically boomers, I couldn't help but think of them as cute grannies, despite that they're both supposed to be aged around 30 years old. But that's fine, I'm up for reading a cute lesbian granny romance, full of cute lesbian granny angst. XD

No, this was a good read. I enjoyed it. This was a story that was worth telling.

The artwork is fantastic too.

And I enjoyed the music quite a lot, though I suspect none of it was made for the game.
