i love this game the orginal ravnheart case
Don't be put off by it's age, it runs perfectly in fullscreen - though it will be a bit blurry. I wanted to play the Ravenhearst series so started here and it's excellent. Longer than expected and too many HO screens, but the story is very well written, and you get to do jigsaw puzzles which sometimes tell you explicitely something the diary entries don't tell you. It's a surprisingly dark storyline, which I enjoyed, even though it's been sanitised for HOG purposes. The puzzles are hit and miss though, some are good, but some are very confusing.
Overall, very impressive first entry in the series, definitely recommend it.

Cada cômodo do casarão parecia guardar um segredo, e cada puzzle dava a sensação de que algo terrível tinha acontecido ali… e ainda estava presente.
E então vem o golpe emocional: Emma Ravenhearst. O final dela é simplesmente devastador. Não é só triste, é injusto, melancólico e silencioso, exatamente como o clima do jogo. A sensação que fica é de vazio, como se o mistério fosse resolvido, mas o peso da história continuasse ali, ecoando pelas paredes da mansão.
Mesmo assim (ou talvez por causa disso), Ravenhearst se destaca. Ele prova que um jogo de objetos escondidos pode ir muito além de “achar coisas na tela” e contar uma história sombria, humana e memorável. Agora, a expectativa de continuar a saga nos dois jogos seguintes do arco Ravenhearst só aumenta, é como revisitar um velho trauma… mas com gosto de nostalgia.

据说是很多人的童年回忆，虽然我以前没有听说过，但是游戏玩法就像小时候很喜欢的名叫《视觉大发现》系列的书，在精美的静物图中寻找物品，算是对童年爱好的一个延伸（？）本作或许会成为我系列的入坑作。
本作是《神秘视线》系列的第三部，设定在一个庄园，有非常多的房间，需要我们在各个房间中寻找物品，找完物品后进入拼图环节顺带讲述剧情。有些房间门是锁住的，需要进行解谜才能打开。在寻找物品的过程中，是有时间限制的，大部分情况下时间都够用。但是后期少数情况不知出于何种原因（有可能是游戏设定），时间会比较紧张，好在在时间结束前能够通关（所以我其实并不知道时间耗尽会发生什么）。
游戏年代比较久远，画质有限，所以找起来略有难度。游戏语言为英文，虽然凭借一点英语基础可以看懂，但是有些物品名称还是要用到翻译（游戏中有些物品因文化差异以及游戏的年代感，导致不知道它是什么样子，这时候只能借助提示来瞎猜hh），也学到了很多单词（
玩到后期觉得有些单调乏味，再加上比较费眼睛，一直在想怎么还没有结束。[spoiler]不过最后将Emma的灵魂解放出来后还是会觉得这一切都值得。[/spoiler]
总体来讲，这部作品是非常经典的寻物类型的游戏，如果对此类型感兴趣并且不在乎画质的话，可以尝试。

Endearingly primitive. The game's graphical fidelity makes it a difficult recommend, and the lock puzzles can be frustratingly unintuitive, but the hidden object games themselves are fun, plentiful, and decently challenging. The story is sadly disconnected from any actual gameplay, save the jigsaw puzzles, but it's serviceable. Definitely worth a couple bucks if you prefer the HOPs over other logic puzzles.
As many has said, it's not optimized for modern computers. Most of the screens are a pixellated mess and you're just guessing where to click. Sometimes it works out of sheer luck. I bought it on sale for less than a euro, but I wouldn't say it's worth even that.
I find these type of HOB games engaging and charming. This was short but in between tasks and long days, it became a nice entertaining distraction.

If you play HOGs because you like to search for hidden objects, these are the reasons why this game is one of the best:
1. Almost exclusively made up of hidden object puzzles. No terrible voice-acting, no creepy (and poorly done) human animation, no tedious puzzles for which the only challenge is how long you are willing to sit there spinning dials. Plus, the story is decent rather than cringe-inducing!
2. It's timed which adds a lot of tension when you are looking for those last one or two items.
3. You don't have to find them all! Ever get really frustrated when you can't find that last object, but you can't move on until you do? This game gives you a number of HOPs at once and asks you to find a certain number of objects across the scenes (always less than the total available to find). This acknowledges that sometimes you just don't see what the artists wanted you to see, and it gives you the chance to relax your eyes by jumping between scenes to search for objects.
4. The puzzles that are used to open up new HOPs are crazy weird and unique. They can be difficult to figure out, but there are hints if you get stuck. I was able to figure out all but one on my own, but they were hard enough that I really felt like I had earned the solution when I solved them.
I loved this game, and I wish that there were a lot more like it!
I'm a player from China. I first encountered this game when I was 12 years old, but it was a pirated copy. Back then, my cousin and I barely knew any English words, but we still managed to complete the game by referring to the dictionary. Today, I stumbled upon it on the Steam store, and it happened to be on sale, so I finally paid for it after many years.

The first game in my favorite Mystery Case Files series. Ravenhearst is a treat to be had and explore. It was very eerie, and not going to lie, the game got a few good jumps on me here and there, and it really out played my expectations when it came to the story! I'm so glad I got to play. If you like the Mystery Case Files series, this will be a nice welcome, single focus treat that, while might not have any replay value, is worth your time and respect as this series goes forward.

It is the same old Mystery Case files I used to play long ago... It was great fun back then when I played it on a smallish square screen. It is still exactly the same game... But there has been no optimisation for larger screens. The resolution is completely off and the image quality is terrible. Yes, the game is not expensive, but I imagine they already made all the money they needed to make back when it was released. For the price, I really think it is not unfair to expect that the game would be optimised for what we are used to seeing in games today.
I totally recommend getting this game if you like hidden object games and a good puzzle or two too... but get it when it is on special.

This is my first MCF Ravenhurst HOG. The story is absolutely gripping. The scenes were really cool because there were a lot of them using same words for different objects so it made the hunt a bit more challenging since I wasn't sure if I was searching for a "bow" that goes on a gift or used with a violin, for instance.
In each level there is one locked door and its puzzle must be deciphered to be unlocked. Some of them were a bit challenging but not overly difficult. In between each level is a type of jig saw puzzle that, once completed, reveals diary entries that further the story which again, is very intriguing.
Unfortunately, I think they ending was rushed and most definitely not completed. I understand leaving questions unanswered to continue the series, however, this ending was so abrupt, you have no idea where anyone went, who the main person that appears at the end is, etc. Maybe the next game in the series will answer those questions.

Very good HOG, with little puzzles to unlock doors. Though I will say, the story was a bit simple but was cute in the way you actually discovered the story! I was anxious about the time that the game put up in the beginning but it ended up literally not being any problem because the time resets every time you finish a chapter. Just know that it does get repetitive and you search for the same objects in the same place multiple times- though with that there is a 'memory' aspect to the game too! It was fun to play with friends so if you're looking for something pretty low-key with barely any stakes, definitely recommend.

A true classic hidden object game. I was very pleasantly surprised to find this game would run on my current PC as so many of these older games just can't function. Challenging enough to make you think and actually hunt through the scenes but not so complicated to feel like you can't actually finish.
I enjoy the challenge of finding the objects and the sound is just creepy enough to add an edge to the game
Mystery Case Files Ravenhearst works okay with Windows 11. It takes about a minute to start and sometimes doesn't fully exit, so you might have to stop it manually. Other problems you might encounter are having to reset scaling or resolution after the game exits. MCF Ravenhearst does have a timer but you are given plenty of time, no need to feel rushed.
I love this game because it reminds me of my childhood. When I was a kid, I was obsessed with ISPY and was obsessed with all of the Mystery Case Files. This game has a ton of puzzles to do and also it's basically just an ISPY game!

My Mystery Case Files journey has taken a supernatural twist! Her Majesty The Queen has asked me to investigate the unsettling rumors surrounding Ravenhearst Manor. My mission is to find the missing diary pages of Emma Ravenhearst, but first I'll have to solve a series of bizarre Door Locks placed by Charles Dalimar. Was Charles trying to keep someone from getting in...or out?
Ravenhearst marks the beginning of the Dalimar legacy and Master Detective's nemesis for many future Mystery Case Files games. The most notable difference in Ravenhearst is with the introduction of the infamous Rube Goldberg puzzles.
To date, there are 26 games in the Mystery Case Files franchise. Games 1-9 were developed by Big Fish Studios, Games 10-11 were developed by Elephant Games, Games 12-20 were developed by Eipix Entertainment, and Games 21-26 were developed by Grandma Studios.
[b]MYSTERY CASE FILES: RAVENHEARST[/b]
Just as in its predecessors, Huntsville, and Prime Suspects, you are tasked with searching for clues in the form of Hidden Object Scenes, but this time you are searching 32 rooms of Ravenhearst Manor.
[b]DIARY PAGE ENTRY PUZZLES[/b]
The goal is to find all of Emma Ravenhearsts' Diary Entries by finding clues via hidden objects scenes. They have given us a fifth Hint, but I strongly suggest that you save the hints for the Door Puzzles. Each room has 8 objects to find, but you don't need to find every item (the amount required is shown at the bottom of the list) so if you can't find an object, simply click the Map tab and move on to the next room. Once you find the required clues/objects, you must piece together fragments of a diary page by rotating and placing each piece correctly, at which point you can read Emma's entry.
[b]DOOR PUZZLES[/b]
Charles Dalimar may be long gone, but he still haunts you with a series of maddening locks. These are Rube Goldberg puzzles that require thinking & tinkering. Click on anything and everything until you find codes or clues as to how to solve each section. At first glance, it may seem overwhelmingly impossible to figure out, but trust me when I say that if you just tinker around with the crazy gadgets, you will figure them out! If you have saved your hints, they will come in handy now because they can be used to figure out the next step of the puzzle. I have played every game in this series, and it saddens me that no one has been able to recreate the Rube Goldberg door puzzle masterpieces since Big Fish Studios handed over the reins of this series!

It's very engaging and trains the eyes and the mind.
I distinctly recall sitting on my couch with my mom as a child playing all of these games. A favorite enough that I repurchased it all these years later!
I played this game as a kid and I enjoyed playing it again all these years later, but there is defiantly a nostalgia factor in why I liked it.
This game is VERY dated, most of the objects it asks you to find are from the 19th century and the graphics are extremely low.
This game gave me headaches trying to find items back when I was playing on a CRT screen, and the sheer clutter of the rooms will make you dizzy.
The plot is intriguing if you can bear through the endless hidden object rounds, and the puzzles are amusing though infrequent.
This game holds a special place in my heart since it triggers so much nostalgia, but if you're only interested in the story I recommend just looking up a summery of the diary pages and skipping this one.
If you just want a good hidden objects game that makes you think outside the box, and you're maybe over 30, then this game is a nice way to pass time. Just take breaks in between levels to give your eyes a rest.

Ravenhearst is a 3rd game of the mystery case files series. In this title the puzzles have been introduced for the first time, however 90% of the game still consists of hidden objects gameplay.
There are 20 chapters, 15 puzzles, each chapter ends with a jigsaw puzzle and a diary entry which will tell a story. There are plenty of locations, in general it was a fun decent title.
Me and my partner really enjoyed playing this game together. Ravenhurst is a lovely atmospheric game, perfect for cosy autumn evenings in.
I still love this game because it sets the stage for one of the most charming villains ive ever met in videogames. The game is pretty monotonic but it still makes fun to play through it again and again and again. The minigames arethe best in it because of the variety and the look of them. I can really highly recommend this simple but wonderfull game

one of my favorite older find and seek games. I used to play with my sister when I was younger. this one and the 2nd game I have fond memories of and was so happy to see them both on the store. It has a really good story to follow and is worth playing for sure. The puzzles are fun as are the different maps for the find and seek bit.

Fun childhood hidden object game that is ultimately just outclassed now by the MCF games that followed it, this game stands more as a relic of the history of MCF than as a significant title like Return, Escape, or Dire Grove.

I played "The Harbinger" of the Mystery Case Files series before this, and I expected a similar game. But Ravenhearst is not like a typical point and click puzzle game where you have to search for items to open the next lock or put some brooch into a cavity. It is just searching for items on single screens of incredibly messy rooms (the Greys from Grim Tales are cleaning maniacs in comparison), and sometimes very easy picture puzzles and riddles to open doors. Some items are unfindable due to translation errors (e.g. "circle" and "compass"), and others are just so random that you won't find them (an ashtray in a shape that I had never seen before and would never have recognised as ashtray). The most annoying this was that you can't enlarge the small window in which the game starts and therefore have to almost kiss your screen to find anything. I made it to the end of the non very interesting and predictable story, but I wouldn't play it again.
First thing to note, in response to some of the other reviews, I did not have any issue with the screen resolution. Mine automatically went full screen every time I played it, and I could minimize the game without it seeming to have affected anything else. I'm sure the screen resolution was a real issue, but I'm no expert on computers so I don't know if mine worked because of my computer or the issue itself has been fixed.
I played this game around when it first came out, and then spent the next 15 years thinking about the Ravenhearst saga every couple of months or so. This game is a pretty straightforward hidden object game with some door puzzles and jigsaw puzzles (for the journal entries) thrown in for good measure. Each level you need to find a certain number of objects, but there are always a few more objects available to find than are needed. That gives some wiggle room to just not find some objects if you're having a hard time. There are some other reviews that give a more detailed description so I'll leave it at that. I did not find it terribly difficult, but it was still enjoyable.
My only issue was the amount of spiders in the rooms, but that is a purely personal problem as I am afraid of spiders. Most of the spiders I was able to glance over without focusing too much. There are enough objects that the wiggle room provided lets me not look too closely at these spiders. There are a couple of rooms that want me to find the spider, but I can just click blindly in the general area and get it. No worries about finding it, because either it was big enough that I spotted and avoided it right away or small enough that there aren't enough details to be afraid of. There is one room however, the cellar, that has a large colorful tarantula front and center. I always keep this room for last. I have no idea what objects are on the bottom half of this room, I can't look at it. I just hope that however many objects I have left are on the top half or findable with hints. I am most of the way through this game and so far this method has worked. Again though, this is only a problem because I am afraid of spiders. If you do not have arachnophobia, literally nothing in this paragraph matters.
And with that digression, I would like to admit that I am mostly here for the story. The game itself is good, but I am in love with this story. Have been for years now. I am looking forward to playing the rest of them, especially Return to Ravenhearst.
This game is fun. Hours and hours of hidden object puzzles broken up by puzzle piece mystery games. There are door lock puzzles to crack that grant you entry to the next part of the spooky house, some are logic puzzles and some are quite surreal. The game is well put together with great imagination and creativity to keep you engaged. This was my first MCF game, I bought it based on the great reviews, and I was not disappointed.

Basically a fairly straightforward mystery split up by a whole bunch of Hidden-object puzzles and an image puzzle for each "chapter". Not a terrible game but I think that it aged poorly on modern tech. The options are to play fullscreen or in a teeny tiny window so the most difficult part of the hidden object puzzles is making out some of the incredibly pixelated or absurdly tiny objects. It is playable if you have a lot of patience/stubborn streak but you'll want lots of breaks to rest your eyes. I liked the occasional 'lock' puzzles quite a bit more than the rest of the game play. Other players may have better luck with their screen size but I have to call this one "barely playable".
Pretty good mystery puzzle game, but DO NOTE that this cannot go full screen unless you reduce your monitor resolution to 800x600. That's pretty much the only flaw
Yes, I recommend the Mystery Case File series. But No not this game until it is fixed or revised. They, MCF, are for the most part fun games. But for some reason there is something going on, or wrong with this game. And I am not talking about the content. (That don't bother me, though it could be disgusting for some I guess) But what I am having trouble with is the game play. But mostly the lock on the cage in the basement of the house. I turned on the boiler and steamed up the mirror and saw the combination to enter onto the lock so I did and it will not open the lock. I have tried the combination in many different ways and it still will not unlock . So now I am stuck and I can't move forward. I have looked at multiple videos on the section and read may walk through but they all show the same thing and they enter the combination by pushing the little buttons and it quickly opens but when I do it it will not. Can any one who design this game help. There has been other puzzles that will not work but usually there was something I missed but this one there doesn't seem to be anything that I missed doing. Please help or I will not be able to finish this game. Some one need to install a fix or a correct game play, help map in game, in order to help you out if you get stuck or if something in the game starts going wrong. Usually the help button will at least help you out but my help button will not work at all. Please fix this Thank you

Picture quality and resolution is bad enough to cause migraines, game doesn't properly close when you end it and changes your screen settings. Unplayable in my case
It's ok as Hidden Object adventures go, although gets a bit repetitive. The quality of the pictures often makes it difficult to spot the objects and there are some idioms which change between rooms e.g. 'pigskin' and 'football' both result in an American football being the correct answer, but in different rooms. The puzzle to piece together diary pieces is ok but a bit repetitive so could have done with a bit more variation. The story is fine but not that engaging and has no real sense to it. Buy it if it's cheap but there are a lot better ones out there.
Fantastic Game! I played it when I was a kid on my mom's desktop computer. It was wonderful to find out it was on Steam. It is much easier (and less scary) than when I was 7.

this is by far my favourite in the series. i,ve played about 6 times and still enjoy it as if it were my first time.
you can access a hidden door to the parts department where they slap your ass really hard but you have to get through like 30 minutes of ads and puzzles
Ugh. This game might be great if you're training for the hidden-object game Olympics. Not so much otherwise.
It's just a very difficult hidden-object game that almost exclusively comprises very difficult hidden-object scenes. There is no point-and-click adventuring and there are only two types of puzzle mini-games. I quite enjoyed a few of the unique puzzles! But, unfortunately, the hidden-objects scenes are difficult for annoying reasons: very low resolution, tiny and poorly rendered objects, objects covered by other objects, ambiguous item requests, precise pixel hunting, etc. The game essentially keeps repeating the same small amount of scenes again and again while asking you to point out a random list of objects. You are ranked according to how fast you play.
Two more annoyances: First, when you click an object you have to wait for the animation to end before being able to click on the next object. This defeats the sense of flow that is so enjoyable about this genre, and is plain silly when the point in this particular game is to work quickly. Second, the sound effects. I was completely amazed to read reviews here in which people praised them. I found them the most annoying sound effects I've ever experienced in a game.
It's impossible for me to recommend this game to anyone.

As someone who's first Hidden Object game was the sequel to this, it is nice that the game comes with a relaxed mode so I don't have to worry about the time limit that much.
I'd say the puzzles were the best part of the experience. The seemingly amateurish display of all sorts of tools and objects combined in a contraption that I would only see in my wildest dreams gives the game an unique aesthetic that I haven't seen in any of the MCF games that came after.
And speaking of the puzzles, do try to savour them, once you figure out the answer to one of them, it won't be replaced in future runs.
The Hidden Object part of the game can be very frustrating at times, since the developers REALLY like to put objects on top of other objects of the same color, you always have to check the same place twice to make sure there really isn't anything there, once you get used to it, though, it's a bit easier (but just a bit, you'll still have to look carefully).
I recommend taking a break for every page you get (5 minutes minimum) since a game like this can tire your eyes very fast.

This is essentially I Spy but with a darker twist. It's an incredibly simple, kind of repetitive, search and find type game with a few "puzzles". The story is a simple one but still enjoyable.
Second Best in the Series as of right now, I've only played the first 3
