This game was an up and down and let me back with thousand of theories and questionmarks in my head. I really liked the ride, but the [spoiler] coma scene with lucy [/spoiler] just puzlled me.
Everything else mad sense and i had my own theory. But this reveal in combination with the ending, just didnt make sense for me. So yeah. I cant really say something else.

So my honest review is, i was entertained, loved the humor and it was a rollercoaster of an adventure :D
Do i recommend it ? Yes - buy it in the sale and take the rollercoaster :)

"My Big Sister" é uma daquelas experiências narrativas que usa a estética de um jogo de aventura em pixel art para esconder uma história profundamente melancólica e, por vezes, perturbadora. O foco aqui é totalmente no desenvolvimento da relação entre as irmãs Luzia e Sombria e no mistério que as envolve, ao contrário de RPGs de terror que focam apenas em jump scares ou perseguições incessantes. Apesar de parecer um jogo simples de exploração, creio que os apreciadores de tramas psicológicas e de jogos como Ib ou Mad Father também irão apreciar a forma sensível com que o título aborda temas como trauma e lealdade familiar.

Eu disse que o jogo foca na relação entre as irmãs, mas há uma estratégia emocional envolvida na forma como você resolve os puzzles para avançar. No papel da pequena Luzia, você precisa cuidar de sua irmã mais velha, que foi amaldiçoada e transformada em um monstro. O jogador precisa explorar cenários surreais — que misturam o cotidiano com o grotesco — para encontrar itens que permitam que ambas sobrevivam a essa jornada. Escolher como interagir com os estranhos personagens que habitam esse mundo não é apenas uma decisão de curto prazo; a forma como você encara os eventos dita qual dos múltiplos finais você alcançará, o que quem jogar vai sentir que cada pequena ação de Luzia carrega um peso moral significativo.

A jogabilidade é focada no clássico estilo "aponte e clique" de inventário, e na minha opinião, um dos seus pontos mais fortes é a atmosfera: o jogo consegue ser engraçado em um momento e devastador no próximo. É mostrado o mundo através dos olhos de uma criança, o que torna as partes macabras ainda mais impactantes; quando você entende a verdade por trás de certas situações bizarras, a satisfação de "montar o quebra-cabeça" é acompanhada por um aperto no peito. No entanto, é preciso ser cauteloso; embora não seja um jogo de dificuldade técnica elevada, ele exige que você preste atenção aos detalhes do cenário e aos diálogos para não perder as pistas sobre o que realmente está acontecendo com a família das protagonistas.

Ainda sobre a jornada, aqui há um conceito muito importante que é o moral da protagonista e a percepção da realidade. Como Luzia é muito jovem, ela muitas vezes interpreta o horror ao seu redor de maneiras peculiares. O moral do jogador aumenta ao ver os raros momentos de carinho entre as irmãs em meio ao caos. Por exemplo: se você foca apenas em resolver os puzzles mecanicamente, pode ignorar o subtexto emocional que leva aos finais mais positivos. O mais importante é que o jogo trata o terror não como algo externo, mas como algo que nasce de circunstâncias trágicas; se você não for cauteloso e ignorar os avisos narrativos, acabará em um ciclo de tristeza que o jogo explora com maestria.

Para finalizar, outra coisa que eu gostei: a trilha sonora minimalista que pontua perfeitamente os momentos de tensão e os momentos de melancolia pura. Na exploração desses capítulos, não fique apenas focado em achar o próximo item; observe como o ambiente reflete o estado mental das personagens. Você não precisará de reflexos rápidos, mas antes é preciso ter empatia e estômago para enfrentar os segredos que Sombria está escondendo.

I'm just gonna get straight to the point: this is my favorite game of all time. I can't quite put into words as to why THIS game in particular has been my favorite for years, but it definitely holds a special place in my heart.

The story is heart-wrenching, the psychological horror is superb, the music is amazing, and the writing is both humorous while still retaining some inkling of seriousness--I was invested every second of the way.

I played this game a couple years on my Nintendo Switch when it was on sale there. I decided to get it again recently to see if it held up; it does, and so much more. While there's still a ways to go with me fully understanding the story, it's still some of the best story I have ever witnessed in my life. The game felt like a book I was reading about these two sisters going about their trials and tribulations.

So, if you haven't already, PLEASE play this game! Even if you don't enjoy this game to the same extent as me, it's still an amazing experience that I highly recommend!

Vamos lá, inicialmente o jogo aparenta ser nada demais, a parte de explorar e interagir com npcs é muito divertida, o lado bobo da Luzia e a melancolia da Sombie é como se elas fossem tão diferentes que quase é impossível acreditar que elas são irmãs.
A complexidade e a persuasão retratados por meio das outras personagens (Ashina, Taira e senhora do macarrão) no mundo espiritual foi tipo?? em quem eu confio? o jogo deixando as escolhas na nossa mão, um grande efeito borboleta que acarreta em um final ''X''.
Eu AMEI esse jogo, é um jogo simples, complexo, que precisa prestar atenção pra entender realmente, trilha sonora gostei bastante também, aconselho a compra :3

第二，我买了原版放到2026年才玩，通关时候才知道有重制版。

不是很长的游戏，其实没有什么恐怖的，姐姐的丸子头很棒，可惜没啥同人图。
故事嘛，玩一半你就知道是什么套路化故事了，只不过几个结局出发的要素都是差一点点，所以不看攻略打全结局很难搞。我建议就打好结局就行了，因为哪怕你不看云通关视频，猜也能猜到其他坏结局是什么。对。原则上只有一个好结局和很多坏结局。
不过别紧张，这游戏解密没有什么难度，体验才是最重要的。

You ever look through your games that you've yet to play and sort of wonder...how did this get there?

It is easy to believe that this game was made by a single person working alone. It has that feel of being some student's first year coursework or something.

Charming in its own way; cutely gothic and with some genuinely hevy undertones. The gameplay is rudimentary, never frustrating.

It doesn't quite overstay its welcome but I would still have welcomed it to be a bit shorter. I made a point to play it because I was keen to finish it and move on to the next game in my backlog.

Do I recommend this game? No I really don't. I don't hate it...It has heart and there's nothing really wrong with it, it's just not really worth getting, even on sale.

My Big Sister is a horror-themed pixel adventure game presented from a top-down perspective. Although I played the game for only 30 minutes, the awkward gameplay, subpar level design, sometimes bad art, and poorly written dialogue that consistently undermined the horror elements prevented me from continuing. I simply cannot recommend this game as it is fundamentally flawed in every aspect.

If you are looking for a horror-themed pixel adventure game I would highly recommend Mad Father, The Witch's House, or Corpse Party instead.

The game is really easy and simple, but it's unique. "My Big Sister" is one of these games that you have to play. Nothing hard + plot amazing. There are no bugs or mistakes, just pure pleasure. I thought it would be a normal, probably generic game - It is not. The game is talking about topics that everyone can have problem with - sister issues, bad parenting and of course sort of illness in main character. My rate? 8,5/10, this game should be more popular for sure. I saw remaster of this and if i get more money, I will probably buy it. That's all :]

Desde o começo, quando eu acordei naquela salinha, comecei a explorar os lugares, ver o ambiente, ver que dava pra interagir com algumas coisas, pegar e juntar conversar com os npcs, eu já vi que ia ser bem da hora. Os puzzles são bem simples, mas isso não é um grande problema, até porque essa não é a proposta do jogo, a proposta do jogo é mais a narrativa, e é uma boa narrativa!! achei a história muito boa. E conforme eu ia jogando, eu só pensava "O que vai acontecer agora?" "Como isso vai terminar?" E isso me fez embarcar na história de um jeito muito bom, eu sinto que o autor teve um carinho muito grande com o jogo, e isso também conta muito pra mim, porque eu sinto que quando isso acontece, o autor capricha mais, e eu vi que ele caprichou bastante! O jogo tem vários finais, e eu achei isso muito legal, inclusive tem um final que vai ter uma cena após créditos, eu não sei se o pessoal que jogou isso viu, mas eu achei isso muito incrível, porque não é normal de a gente ver coisas assim, e eu gostei bastante, isso é um ponto muito positivo. As conquistas são bem intuitivas, não tem muitas conquistas perdiveis/passáveis. Eu recomendo esse jogo pra quem quer embarcar numa boa narrativa ou pra quem quer relaxar depois de um dia de trabalho, porque a gente vai dar risada com a protagonista, ela é bem engraçada e tudo, até pra quem quer realmente só desopilar um pouco, é um bom jogo. Vale também citar as referências, tipo, referência ao estúdio Ghibli que tem, eu adorei, achei realmente muito bom.

O jogo e bom, mas não consegui acessar todos os finais porque estava bugado.

No final eu preciso usar um item pra um final X e o personagem não consegue acessar a área. Aparentemente e um bug do PC pelo que pesquisei.
Em outro final eu preciso digitar um código e simplesmente não consigo digitar(?????)
Realmente não sei se tem relação com a minha resolução de monitor ou algo assim.

Se não estiver buscando a platina pode comprar que e maneirinho (comprei por 2 reais).

Chegando ao último jogo da trilogia (Red Bow, Ashina: The Red Witch e My Big Sister), eu venho escrever mais uma análise.
Terminei de jogar recentemente e digo que foi uma experiência muito boa! Esse jogo em particular, achei mais sombrio do que os antecessores. O aspecto "assustador" veio mais forte nesse, em minha opinião.
Em geral, eu gostei muito de como foi o desenrolar do enredo, mas confesso que fiquei confusa com algumas coisas da história. Apesar disso, não tive minha experiência afetada. Foi um jogo muito interessante, e eu recomendo muito a vocês que joguem!
Foi muito legal rever cenários e personagens que eu já tinha familiaridade por causa do jogo antecessor, só senti falta de um, que eu tinha esperanças que aparecesse (talvez ele tenha aparecido de outro jeito, mas não tenho certeza quanto a isso).
Não irei me ater aos aspectos mais técnicos, mas consegui jogar tranquilamente, sem bugs ou qualquer coisa do tipo (pelo menos, eu não percebi ou não me recordo disso).
E sobre os finais, eu achei que a variação foi maior do que os seus antecessores, e que tiveram mudanças mais significativas na história. Achei todos interessantes (e alguns me deixaram intrigada), mas o final feliz para mim foi o melhor, com certeza.

Recomendo muito!

🍜 A good horror that constantly plays with the presentation of characters in the story. You won't know until the end who is right, what is wrong and when you'll find yourself in reality. Despite the general linearity, several small choices really demonstrate a different outcome, especially in the finale. Nice atmosphere, visual and alright general narrative. There aren't many puzzles, and it's good that they don't make you roll your eyes. The only drawback is the imperfection of the tech. part & bugs, which aren't uncommon in the projects of this dev (and for some reason, this isn't fixed over the years). However, this is a small price for a good story.

Очень понравилась реализация виртуального мира — он здесь очень разнообразный, достаточно интересно выглядит и может удивить пользователя количеством мелких деталей.Стоит сказать, что главной фишкой игры является именно сюжет, так как все остальные геймплейные моменты назвать чем-то невероятно увлекательным тяжело. В эту игру стоит заходить только в том случае, если вы хотите погрузиться в эмоциональную атмосферу, хотите читать диалоги, додумываться до определенных вещей и все в таком духе. То есть, игра предоставляет увлекательный сюжет и он очень даже неплохо реализован, но назвать его прямо сложным у меня язык не поворачивается — история максимально прямолинейная, без удивительных моментов или неожиданных поворотов судьбы, есть здесь определенные фишки, которые позволяют игроку наслаждаться происходящим на экране, есть и интересные второстепенные персонажи.

Некоторые игровые механики мне лично очень понравились и их точно можно использовать в других проектах, но в целом картинка геймплея очень даже скучная. Например, мне очень понравилась реализация игры с тенью и темными участками локаций — там вы двигаетесь практически вслепую, ориентируясь лишь на редкие источники света. Это выглядит очень необычно и заставляет даже немного понервничать. С другой стороны, во всем остальном геймплей максимально простой и состоит из ходьбы по локациям и общения с другими персонажами. Никакого экшена, никаких сложных головоломок, ничего необычного в геймплее нет.

Игрушка довольно необычная и интересная в определенных моментах, по скидке обязательно возьмите.

Тут є все: крута піксельна графіка, саркастична головна героїня, загадкові істоти й історія, яка спочатку здається милою, а потім – БАЦ! – і ти вже сидиш, обіймаєш монітор, бо він єдиний, хто тебе розуміє.
Графіка в грі проста, але має свій особливий шарм. І хоча інколи тобі хочеться просто кинути все і втекти від того, що тут відбувається, гра дає приємні сюрпризи і кумедні моменти, які змушують посміхатися навіть після страшніших моментів.

[h1] Underrated Game About Sister-Issues! [/h1]
This is a very hidden gem in the pixel world which mixes psychology, a little bit of gore and a unique scenario for a small mystery adventure game. Shifting through the dream worlds you have Luzia who is the little sister and Sombria the big sister. They have the typical caring//slash sister bond and one day there was a robber incident that changes their life upside down. Luzia is taken into a bizarre world with spirits and her sister is a zombie! Will you be able to change the witch's curse and turn her back? Or will you be in this loop forever?

[b] Story [/b]
On face value this game is very linear but if you explore throughly this whole story has a major turn-around and me being a very observant person did sense some things for the secret story but never expected this much. I don't think there are many games that analyse for the plot of this story which has a 360 turn around when you look in a certain perspective. I like the fact that the developer has left the story to be abstract in a way so that the player can deduce their own versions at the latter. Reminds me a bit of Yume Nikki, also a little bit of corpse party. The story has a lot of symbolism and Easter eggs from the previous games done by stranga. After finishing all the endings, the truth ending even I was left confused on which is the exact true one. I also dwelled into the realm of reddit to find the meaning of the endings and i was baffled. So please do a quick search through and look at theories of the story behind the game after getting all endings. Small warning for a little bit of content that can be disturbing to some players like hospital abuse and gore. The second alternative truth ending made me gasp and kept me on edge and i wanted more.

[b] Characters [/b]
There are a handful of colorful characters in this story which has a significant background story to them. Luzia the main character has a lot of good dark humor being a little girl but matured. Then Sombria has a very polar opposite personality. Did read from the forum that the names stand for light and darkness. Then the noodle lady, Ashina and molly are very memorable. Not sure how the receptionist even come into play. The initial story has a dark secret behind one of the sisters and it changes the whole perspective. The whole story is that sister's character development, her choices and how it is entangled with the other's emotions. Both sisters even though they are not perfect has a lot of care for each other which is shown through in a critical situation that they are facing. In this other dimensional journey you can sense the trauma bonding with some supernatural elements. Is it all psychological or parapsychological that's for you to decide.

[b] Gameplay [/b]
The gameplay involves finding objects by exploring every corner and using it appropriately, some stuff are very tricky to find and returning items would unlock achievements. I like that some findable objects have a deeper meaning behind them, you will figure it out if you try to get the achievements. I am super glad for some reason that there are no chase scenes which I am very used to in these type of games makes it more narrative and a journey instead of a burden. I also like the mirror puzzle it was unique but i don't think the simple and capital letters should have an influence. I also liked the characters sitting on the right corner of my screen especially in the mushroom collection screen. They would speak to you and i have never seen it in a game before. The chapter select is a very useful feature and it saves time in getting acheivements. There were no bugs and there's a option to select resolution before the gameplay.

[b] Art and Sound [/b]
I think the art is okay but with the progress of even pixel games there is difference in art now, some could be more polished and eye candy. The music is very good and catchy. There is some minimal voice acting in certain scenes.

[b] Achievements [/b]
I think getting the true endings require a lot of attention to detail and solving puzzles. All easter eggs have an achievement that is related. But they are not that hard to take, try to finish the game without any guide that's where the fun is.

[b] Overall [/b]
This is a must play for horror fans who would like a dash of cuteness or have sibling issues (jk) it's a neat little game where the plot twist literally boggles your mind in a way you will never expect. There is a second side version of the game available now by Stranga which I am very excited to play in the future.

This game does have merits...the art is really cute, and the concepts in general are interesting. I liked the itty bitty fourth wall break. I also liked all the different areas and I loved that it's more of a relaxing, thoughtful horror game than an actual scary one. The puzzles are only occasionally abstruse and I love the "find an object, use it someplace" dynamic that this uses. The little totoro reference was really cute. I think a younger audience might really enjoy this game.

That said, I think it leaves much to be desired. The plotlines are...really odd. It's not all that well written - the dialogue often sounds kinds of amateurish and not well thought out, there's a bunch of spelling/grammar errors, and the connections between different plot areas are...just not that good. It's kind of a jumble, honestly - I think other players will often feel confused throughout the story. I think the ideas here have potential but could probably have been better developed in the hands of a more experienced writer, because it's like they were trying to tackle too much - grief, guilt, Japanese (?) folklore, sibling relationships, envy, magical alternate worlds, depression, meta horror, a rapey therapist who people go on visiting for why???...it's a lot and the execution was sort of lacking. There were a bunch of features that just don't really go anywhere (SPOILERS: the fourth wall break especially, but also a lot of plot details - Sombria's thirst for blood that comes up twice and never again, the "mother entering Luzia's consciousness" thing, the village of children, the inexplicable "curse" that gets like four or five inconsistent explanations throughout the game, the "Tunnel of Sorrows" thing, the "stuff isn't how it seems" gambit that gets repeated so often it's basically meaningless, etc. /SPOILERS).

The most disappointing thing for me was how undeveloped the conflict between the two sisters was. There's an interesting dynamic: Luzia feels guilty for not being there for her depressed sister, and Sombria feels guilty for...somehow launching Luzia into a coma (there's something about a car accident, if I remember correctly, but it barely gets mentioned). There's also some mostly untouched symbolism about light and dark in there (if you couldn't tell just by the girls' names). It just never gets fully fleshed out (why is Sombria depressed? what is up with Luzia's inner world and what role does heritage play in it?). As a player, there's some holes you can patch up yourself and others that are way harder to come up with an explanation for. There's a fair bit of "telling not showing" in there (calling Luzia "suddenly more intelligent" is a big one). Also, the reasons for the different endings...I couldn't tell you what they are. Especially (SPOILER) the bloody hospital one. What do you mean I get an old lady massacre just 'cause I smoked one meter away from a trash can? That said, the Sombria suicide one is also weird. She's in yokai form...so already dead...and yet she kills herself...again. What? (/END SPOILER).

I think maybe what I'm trying to get at is that there's not a good reason for a lot of the plot moments this game suggests. It's almost like they just kinda happened 'cause the person who was writing thought it sounded cool to have x happen in y place, and they just stuck it in without thinking about the story too much. That's especially egregious given that this game hinges on story: it can be as cute as can be, but it's an RPGMaker style puzzle game that's pretty light on puzzles.

Besides all that, there are some gameplay issues. There's glitches - sometimes you have to rewalk an area before something becomes interactable, even if it was meant to be given the plot, the transitions between areas are really slow, the savegame animation often freezes and becomes (even) slower, when you skip a cutscene the screen freezes in place and there's no option to have different save files (something I would normally expect in a game with several different endings). Also the walking isn't super precise; I often had to move Luzia around a couple times before I'd be able to hit the required area to interact with something, because she would slide around a little. I don't have map or game design complaints other than that - like I said at the beginning, the puzzles mostly make sense and are not that hard to figure out given the surrounding tools. They were my favorite part of the game besides the cute art - and I don't think they should have been.

TL;DR: it's ok...but it's very story-driven and the story is...sort of fine.

NOT a horror game. Mostly an adventure-style pixelated game. The story is good, but the gameplay is pretty lackluster. It is either extremely unintuitive or as straightforward as it gets, with no real puzzles along the way. The gameplay controls are also pretty clunky and leaves a lot to be desired.

However, for such a small price, the amount of hours in the game was more than justified. And as I said, the story is good (it is not GREAT or anything, just good), and being a surreal experience I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea. If I could give it "meh" rating I could. Not the greatest, but definitely not a bad game.

El mayor inconveniente diría que es la cantidad de bugs y crasheos que se producen. También que para obtener todos los finales tienes que leer una guía sí o sí.

[b]My Big Sister[/b] ist ein Abenteuer-Rollenspiel des Indie-Entwicklers Stranga Games mit Pixel-Grafik, Point-&-Click-Mechaniken und Horror-Elementen.

Die Geschichte beginnt mit einem Traum auf einen kleinen chinesischen Markt. Luzia, unsere Hauptprotagonistin, hat sich verirrt und muss einen Weg hinaus finden. Im Prinzip kann man diesen Abschnitt des Spiels als Tutorial ansehen. Wie bei einem Point-&-Click üblich, ist die Umgebung nach Gegenständen abzusuchen, um diese an anderer Stelle zu verwenden.

Nach dem Erwachen können wir uns im Haus umsehen. Unsere Mutter arbeitet in einem Krankenhaus und kommt erst sehr spät nach Hause – dafür ist unsere große Schwester Sombria da, die auf uns aufpasst. Nach einer Reihe verstörender Ereignisse finden wir uns gekidnappt in einem Lastwagen wieder. Es gelingt die Flucht und nun müssen zahlreiche Hindernisse überwunden, Rätsel gelöst, Flüche gebrochen und einen Weg nach Hause gefunden werden. All dies begleitet von Figuren aus der asiatischen Mythologie und deren Vertreter aus dem Horror-Genre.

Das Spiel versteht es, kindliche Naivität, Humor und psychologisch-düstere Themen miteinander zu kombinieren. Die innige Verbindung der zwei Schwestern wird immer wieder durch Schatten der menschlichen Seele auf die Probe gestellt. Es gibt viele Easter Eggs zu Studio Ghibli Filmen (Mein Nachbar Totoro / Chihiros Reise ins Zauberland), welche die Story inhaltlich aufwerten.

My Big Sister hat mich wirklich mitgerissen. Die verworrenen Fäden finden erst am Ende zusammen, auch wenn man für manche Antworten etwas um die Ecke denken muss. Dafür ist es notwendig, alle möglichen Enden gesehen zu haben (welche nicht immer offensichtlich sind – Guides können helfen).

Einzig die Steuerung war etwas hakelig und die Übersetzung nicht perfekt – man konnte aber erkennen, was eigentlich gemeint war.

Die Rezensionen sprechen für sich, eine Empfehlung ist daher gegeben.
Wer mit ernsten Themen kein Problem hat, kann das Game beim nächsten Sale mitnehmen.

Cette petite aventure horrifique (mais mignonne) – l'histoire de deux soeurs, dont une qui aime beaucoup les nouilles ;-) – était exactement le jeu qu'il me fallait au moment où j'y ai joué. J'ai beaucoup aimé !
Elle nous réserve quelques surprises et rebondissements bien venus.
Ouais bon, la traduction française est mauvaise, mais perso, ça ne m'a pas gêné ni dans la compréhension de l'histoire ni dans l'immersion.
L'ambiance est vraiment sympa (je veux dire sympathiquement creepy).
Je joue plutôt lentement donc je pense qu'on peu arriver à la (bonne) fin en 4 heures.

While the art and music are good, and it does deliver one very cool scare, the story dropped off a cliff early on and never recovered. The vibes and tone just didn't work for me, or (in my opinion) with each other, and the whole package feels like it got 70% of the way there and just stopped. There's odd oversights in the gameplay (notifications that pop up when inactive) and the sarcastic dialogue never lets the dread live and breath. Gameplay-wise it's also fairly basic, just collecting whatever items are available on a screen and then using them to move to the next. The game isn't intrinsically flawed or anything, I can see why people might enjoy it, but there's better horror/story games to play with your time.

The Butcher character was fun, though.

1. hitting escape always crashed the game instead of skipping a scene,
2. sometimes you had to hit an item or move just right to get through a door way

É um RPG de terror com toques de comédia, ás vezes parece inocente e até meio bobo, e ás vezes a história muda assumindo um aspecto sombrio e até mesmo grotesco. São tantas reviravoltas que no final vc não sabe se ela tá sonhando, morrendo ou sonhando que tá morrendo. São 5 finais que independem das decisões tomadas na campanha, ou seja, chegando no capítulo final é possível acessar todos os possíveis desfechos. O foco do game está na narrativa um tanto confusa, porém proposital, e na resolução de puzzles que são muito fáceis. A música é gostosinha de ouvir e a jogabilidade super simples, não fazendo diferença a não compatibilidade com controles. As conquistas são super fáceis de pegar, basta voltar os capítulos depois de zerar e realizar as ações que deixou de fazer na primeira ida. Tem coisas que são bizarras!
