Mudborne is a casual nature management sim about discovering & breeding frogs! Awoken from hibernation you find your pond abandoned. Through the genetic keys of new species you must unlock the paths between the waking & dreaming worlds, and embark on a journey to restore lost populations.

Storyline

MUD BORN, IT IS TIME TO WAKE UP! Mudborne is a casual nature management sim about discovering & breeding frogs! You awaken from your hibernation to find your pond abandoned and empty. Through a combination of crafting minigames, menu management and puzzle solving, experiment with genetics to breed new frogs and recover what was lost. Using the genetic keys of the new species you create you can unlock the paths between the waking and dreaming worlds, explore the land of those still hibernating, and embark on a journey to help restore the lost populations and find out what happened.

Being in an in-game menu does not pause time and even if it did, there is no separate inventory menu (the inventory is always open and accessible) so inventory management would not pause time even then. I am not made stress resistant enough for time to pass while I read a tutorial or manage my inventory

I love the gameplay, the guidance through quests, the achievements, the character customization, and the game mechanics themselves. I adore this game so much. Definitely in my top 5 of all time!

I loved this game, it's cozy and you can play at your pace. You don't have to do multiple things at a time, you can take however long you want to do anything. There's a lot to read, you have multiple journals full of notes, but everything is well written, and even the tutorial is captivating. You might feel a bit lost at first, but I would suggest pushing through cause they game deserves it.

I could finish the game without any external guide, aside from the last couple of things, although I kept a lot of written notes. It took me 38 hours to 100% it. The maps are mazes, so it takes a while to get used to them. The genetic puzzles are intuitive, you have a lot of items to use, but a lot of room in your inventory too.

And if you like this game, you should check Apico too, cause it has the same vibes.

音乐很好听，美术也很棒青蛙很可爱。不过我真的不擅长这种培育杂交游戏，算数值什么的不看攻略根本就卡在半路了，搞规划也搞的我头晕。不过所有物品把指针放上去都会弹出提示文案，这点特别棒，初见就是被这点暖到了，所以冲这点我还是想给好评。喜欢青蛙和搞养成的一定要来试试

If there's going to be so many items I need my carrying compacity to be higher and sorting to be easier. Maybe I'm missing something and/or it gets better... but I can't recommend a game in 2026 where I feel like half of my gameplay is sorting, searching, and putting items away. If the QOL is improved, particularly in this area, this game will likely become my new go-to cozy game for a while.

it's very very good. you breed frogs so there is a "creature collector" thing going on, but you also modify the offspring with mushrooms so there's a whole genetic component. collecting mushrooms and bugs is also very satisfying

It's a calm pond to hop around in. With genetic engineering and rebuilding a home as it's foundation, it's a strong cozy puzzler that will have you wondering what bugs actually taste like. I enjoyed playing through this one, although experimentation can be tedious at times. I found it to be more interesting to make micro-objectives to help power through the bigger quest steps. A great practice to apply in life.

Overall, if you're a fan of number puzzles, cozy building, and (most importantly) frogs, you'll get a good time with this game.

This game starts off fun, but quickly turns into an overwhelming crafting misadventure. You are constantly moving biomes, waiting for the right conditions for mushrooms to spore, building a crafting area EVER time you move to a new area, and it just goes on! All of this and more is needed to move forward in the game, and don't get me started on the maps...

I did love the aesthetics and creating the frogs, it was fun finding the correct genetic codes and seeing how they turned out. I just wish they didn't give you so many tasks at once, otherwise it would have been a great game. I still recommend this game for the crafting gurus, but not for the laid-back crafter like me.

I absolutely adored this game. I played Apico a couple years ago and loved it, so when I happened to look at the dev's page last month and saw that they'd made a similar game but with frogs I bought it immediately and it did not disappoint! It retains so much of the distinct style and basic mechanics that it felt familiar, but is still very much it's own thing. It also fixes several of the issues that I had with Apico: as much as I loved that game, I haven't actually finished it, mainly because every time I put it down for more than a day I need to completely re-orient myself and remember what it was I was doing. Mudborne fixes this issue with its quest system, where there is some amount of guidance throughout the game. I could put the game down for a week and when I came back I could just look at the quest book to get a rough idea of where I was. What I liked most about the quests is that I could just as easily ignore them and get distracted discovering new frogs or mushrooms; they provide a framework without feeling stifling (the initial quests were maybe a bit hand-holdy to me having played Apico, but probably more useful to a brand new player).
Mudborne also solved a bit of tediousness with its 5-day in-game weather forecast and later (is this spoilers?) ability to pretty much control the exact weather and environmental conditions needed.

I feel like there's so much more I could say about this game but I think I'll leave it there. Again, I cannot recommend this game enough, especially for those who love frogs, puzzle games, and taking care of the environment.

Lots of math and puzzle solving. I loved that aspect of the game but if you hate maths then you might not have a great time. Otherwise, fun story, fun game, fun gameplay loop. The ONLY setback with this game is a lack of a separate inventory for key items. You can very easily softlock yourself misplacing an item. This is a design oversight, but one I am willing to forgive considering how charming the rest of the game is, and how much fun I had playing it (even though I had to repeat half of my playthrough, it didn’t frustrate me as much as I thought it would). My advice is to be *very* careful with your key items, otherwise have a good time. Looking forward to seeing what the modders get up to.

A fantasy genetics puzzle game with frogs! Uncovering the story is fun and the way they leave clues around has felt pretty natural, and the quest progression makes a lot of sense and is pretty fun. There is some room for you to explore some things ahead of time, or go on mini side quests if you have a hard time focusing on the main line, as well as some decoration aspects I haven't much dabbled in.

Overall an entertaining game that can actually keep my attention for longer that 10 hours, which is a feat considering how most do not. I haven't finished the game yet, so I'll try to remember to update when I do.

This game gave me the botania and thaumcraft mod nostalgia, i love the fact that u really don't need to open wiki and just reading the book of the mother frog (:pray:) is giving enough information for explore and investigate everything.
