This one's a tough one. Makes me wish for a "maybe" option.

It's charming, and scratches the sci-fi space game itch. But the stealth missions were painful. Very painful.
The turret defense missions were neat!

Also, did I completely miss it, or are there key features omitted from this game like being able to see your unit selection, or order units to patrol?

It's nice to have something other than C&C to take place in slightly-sci-fi RTS genre, but this one is lacking too much to be enjoyable:
- no zoom, no rotation (building for sure, maybe even no map rotation)
- pathfinding is bad
- looks very generic, and unit weapons system does not make it better — it takes some effort to identify what kind of unit is that: AT, AP or AA
- Cutsenes ignore volume settings and deafeningly loud

非常不错的RTS游戏，单位造型建筑造型还有配音都很帅气，游戏熟悉了之后其实机制很简单，人口限制比较大这点和光环战争1差不多蛮不错的，前期都是小规模战斗，后期战斗规模也不错，有AI遭遇战，画面也没有光污染，比子午线22强多了。。。

Tried to open the game on Windows10, game instantly crashes after a couple of seconds on the first loading screen.
Tried to open the game on Linux (NixOS), game doesn't even open.
Tried to find a solution using the game's built in error reporter and it had no suggestions for a fix.
Tried to look for a solution online, but none matched my description and the game isn't particularly popular so there weren't that many results to begin with.
Tried verifying the integrity of the files using the Steam client as well as re-installing the game but neither worked.
Tried to run the .exe of the game directly as another user (adm) but nothing happened.
Tried to run the game in compatibility mode for Win7, WinVista, WinXP (sp3) but all encountered the same error.
No point in attempting further troubleshooting steps on a game I no longer feel any will to play.

Установил, запустил, сначала нет настроек, перезапустил игру, появились настройки, выставил русский, текст в диалогах накладывается, часть не читабельна. начал играть, после современных игр - здесь управление от динозавров, но можно смириться. Вышел из игры по делам, вернулся а игра не запускается, выдает ошибку!!! Удалил - забыл.

Não curti muito a experiência. É daquele jogo que por ser single player, você joga mais pra passar o tempo. Pra quem conhece RTS, meio que percebe que mistura um pouco de Comand e Conquer com Starcraft. Mas esse não é o problema. O jogo vive crashando no meu pc (que não é lá grande coisa) com muitos error logs. Talvez ao ter um pc melhor, esses problemas desaparecem e eu volte a testar, caso contrário, vai ficar guardado aí.

Das Spiel hätte Potential gehabt, ein solides obere Mittelklasse RTS zu werden.
Aber die späteren Missionen werden schwer, sehr schwer, geradezu unfair. Die ersten Missionen sind noch recht gemütlich.
Es gibt keine Pausefunktion, dabei wird das Spiel immer hektischer. Es gibt viele nutzbare "Zauber", man hat aber meist keine Zeit diese vernünftig einzusetzten.

Bei Mission 7 hatte ich dann keine Lust mehr.
Dies ist eigentlich eine Angriffsmission. Aber der Gegner schickt wie am Fließband riesige Mengen guter Einheiten zu einem. Sodass man nur in der Verteidigung ist. In Ruhe eine Angiffsarmee aufzubauen ist kaum möglich. Hat man dies doch mal geschafft, wird diese schon auf dem Weg in die Gegnerbasis entweder von der Gegner-Einheiten-Fließbandwalze komplett aufgerieben oder so geschwächt, dass man sich wieder zurückziehen muss.

Das toll angepriesene Feature mit dem Modulbaukasten für Einheiten ist überbewertet. In der Praxis machen die einzelnen Waffen in der Hektik keinen großen Unterschied. Man hat auch kaum Zeit mal vernünftig zu experimentieren.

Für eine schnelle Spaßrunde mit Erfolgserlebnis nach Feierabend ist dieses Spiel defintiv ungeeignet.

Un potentiel raté...

Après 4 heures de jeu, je choisis de le désinstaller et de l'effacer de ma bibliothèque : non content de proposer un scénario dirigiste et incohérent parfois, des troupes qui vous font vous arracher les cheveux de par leur comportement en défense et en déplacement, une difficulté en dent de scie (très facile à horrible) il plante. Après avoir lutté contre moi même pour le finir malgré tout, c'était le bug de trop.

Certains effets graphiques sont jolis (les tirs, c'est d'ailleurs ce qui est mis en avant sur les captures du jeu), pour le reste on n'a pas la sensation d'un vrai paysage 3D, tout semble plat. Les unités se déplacent sans aucune inertie. Pas de marquage du sol (explosions, pas et traces de roues), pas de cadavres (disparition instantanée).

The Golden Age of the [b]Real-Time Strategy[/b] genre is long gone. Back in the days, when legendary [b]Westwood Studios[/b] made another huge revolution in genre by improving their own formula and turning [b]Dune 2[/b] into [b]Command & Conquer[/b] (which kept everything that was cool about [b]Dune 2[/b], but also made things more fast and dynamic), back then everybody wanted to make their own [b]RTS[/b]. It was like every second game was [b]RTS[/b]. Sure, most of those were so-called “clones”, but hey! It was still awesome. I mean, come on! No matter how good [b]C&C[/b] and [b]WarCraft[/b] were, for most of us it was impossible to play those again and again with no end. Even though multiplater added tons of replayability to those games, very often you just wanted a new game that was similar to your favorite titles. Because single player experience does matter. In other words, when you've got tired of fighting the Horde in [b]WarCraft II[/b], you went out and bought something like that, but cheaper and with dinosaurs. Probably made in South Korea. Because why freakin' not? You beat it in a couple of days, you return to your favorite game for some time and then you go and buy a new game. That's how it works.

At least, that's how it used to. Because today, the [b]RTS[/b] is one of those genres that can be considered obsolete. Like [b]Point & Click[/b] adventures. Sure, such games are still around (because there are still some old farts like me who ready to pay for them), bu-u-ut it's not even close to what we used to have back in the days. In other words, you can't get yourself a new [b]RTS[/b] every weekend. And for people like me, who totally obsessed with the genre and can't get into that [b]MOBA[/b] thing that modern kids love so much, those are very dark times. Naturally, every new [b]RTS[/b] gets our attention just because, with no special reason. I mean, when there's a lot of the games released one after another in the same genre, you become picky and start looking at quality. But when there's pretty much nothing to choose from... well... It's an [b]RTS[/b]. And, like I've said, you buy it just because of that.

Unfortunately, [b]Meridian: New World[/b] is one of those games that will instantly make you regret such decision. I mean, yes, it's an [b]RTS[/b]. And yes, it works. But the thing is, it feels like [b]Elder Games[/b] didn't really play [b]RTS[/b] games before. It's like they saw the first [b]StarCraft[/b] on [b]YouTube[/b] and decided to make something like that. It [i]looks[/i] kind of like it, but when you begin to actually play it... well... let's just say that playing [b]Meridian[/b] is like using a rusty bucket as a toilet. It does the job (kind of), but what did the heck happen with years of evolution? People invented water closets thousands of years [b]BCE[/b], during the [b]Bronze Age[/b]. And yet, there's always a smartass who thinks that it'll be OK to return to a freakin' bucket.

The first thing you'll notice in this game is... no, not the dumb [b]AI[/b] that will just stand there dying and completely ignoring the enemy units, or commits suicide by rushing into a combat even when you give it different orders. That's something you'll notice a little bit later. The first thing you'll notice is... lack of the speed settings. If you're used to play [b]Command & Conquer[/b] games on highest speed like I am, then you'll [i]suffer[/i] in [b]Meridian[/b]. It's so slow that you'll fall asleep long before your units will reach the enemy base. And let me tell you – the maps in this game are pretty small. It's just... *sigh* Anyway, you've got the idea. It's [i]slow[/i]. Slow even for those who didn't play such games before. It's [i]SLOW[/i]. And there's no freakin' way to increase the speed. At all. [b]Command & Conquer[/b] had it in [b]1995[/b]. [b]Meridian[/b] doesn't have it in [b]2014[/b], almost twenty years later. Evolution, beatch!

Another thing about [b]Meridian[/b] is that it tries to be cool and cinematic but ends up getting on your nerves all the time. See, [b]RTS[/b] genre is not about talking. You start the mission – you want those Soviet a-holes to chew on this and kiss it bye-bye. You want [i]action[/i]. You want the [i]adrenaline[/i]. Now what does this game do? It just enjoys interrupting you. Again and again it'll take the control over the camera and begin to move the screen around, showing you stuff and ruining your mood with boring talks. The talks that [i]you can't even skip![/i] Seriously, guys, what the heck? It's something you do [i]after[/i] the actual mission. It's something you do during the early missions that act as the tutorial. But you never... [i]ever[/i]... do that during the main campaign. As long as your name is not [b]Elder Games[/b], Because these guys? They sure do that. [i]A lot[/i].

And you know what? It only gets worse. It's not like all the ideas were bad, though. For example, in this game there are gameplay parts between actual missions. During those parts you'll explore your ship, talk with your crew, etc. Since the story involves some mystery, it isn't really a bad idea (even though story itself is pretty bad and feels like a cheesy rip-off of [b]Michael Bay[/b]'s movie called [b]The Island[/b], which was already cheesy as heck), but... yeah, you've guessed it. It's painfully slow, it ruins your mood by letting your adrenaline level go down, and all in all it's useless. Sure, it'll have some impact on gameplay later (you care about exploring – you get better chances late in the game), but it only makes things worse. Because balance in this game is totally screwed up.

[b]Meridian[/b] is one of those games where you either know [i]exactly[/i] what to do, or die in agony. Pretty fast too. Something like that was easy to forgive in the first [b]KKND[/b], which suffered from the same exact problem, but... let's just say that this game is no [b]KKND[/b]. And you [i]won't[/i] want to forgive it.

So... yeah... As much as I wanted to enjoy the [b]Meridian[/b], I found it pretty much impossible. Not like it's a big surprise or something. [b]Headup Games[/b] are known for tons of shovelware products. So, seeing another one from this publisher is totally predictable. But you know what? It's sad. It's sad because [b]Meridian[/b] doesn't really look that bad. With enough passion, it had all chances to become a cute little [b]RTS[/b]. Not something that'll make a history, sure, but still enough to give some good time to people who miss the genre. The problem is - [b]Elder Games[/b] didn't really care. They wanted to make yet another quick product and sell it to those people who are desperate for another game in the genre. The guys didn't really know how the genre works and they didn't care enough to learn. I'm pretty sure we're all tired of playing [b]StarCraft 2[/b] again and again at this point, but let me tell you one thing – [i]keep doing it[/i]. Because, [i]man[/i], you won't want [b]Meridian[/b] in your life. At least, cheap [b]C&C[/b] clones from nineties usually cared enough to copy the source material properly. To some degree, at least. This game? It's like having a bunch of students making an [b]FPS[/b] game without even hearing about stuff like strafing ([i]Strafing? What strafing? [b]FPS[/b] is a genre where you have a gun and you shoot stuff! Nobody told us about things like strafing![/i]). Because why bother learning about years of the history? People who want such game would buy it anyway. So, here's a word of advice – [i]don't[/i]. Dixi.

one week ago Ii send a message to the support and... and in 2019 the support still work !!

they are still there for you and give you answer (usefull).
So yet the game work very well for me.
I will let some other evaluation when i will have some more hours in the game (the 7 hours was just because I try a lot to solve the problem by myself... but the support.. well they are profit, I'm not ;) )

Стратегия в старом добром стиле, плохо только, что мало разновидностей юнитов и нет мультиплеера. Игре очень не хватает развития.

Из больших минусов - Русский перевод не полностью (со слов разработчика), не корректно работает сохранение, что после сохранения и выхода из игры, потом в игру не зайдешь (надеюсь исправят).

Простецкая стратегия без обильного кол-ва разнообразных юнитов, однако на юниты можно вешать разнообразное оружие.
По сути гринд и задавливание врагов равномерными группами юнитов с разнообразным вооружением.

Игра выглядит не столь интересной в плане явного разнообразия контента, но и примитивной ее назвать нельзя. Игра подойдет как Вызов игроку. А таких вызовов там довольно много.

Perhaps a great game to submit for a school project or contest; however, it certainly doesn't fall to par with other RTS games. A great deal of time and effort was put into the visual aesthetics, but the underlying game seemed basic and trivial. Some functions may or may not work; deleting a building via the DEL Hotkey (didn't work) nor clicking on the button-icon for it. Skirmish game at Easy AI proved to be cumbersome; only to spam units in one area to defend your base in order to build or evolve through the technologies. Units seemed to go wherever they want to go despite selecting Hold Ground, a group will attack one, that one will proceed to follow as the rest of the group will remain behind. Definitely a great achievement for a one-man project (per many of the comments already posted), but one-man can get tired over time and become sloppy... as mentioned before, a lot of time was put in on the visuals but not too much time on the game AI or the mechanics.

I found the gameplay good and smooth (I played it on a Core i5 Laptop) Some missions was a bit hard but after I found a guy who had guides from the first till the last on You Tube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WP17AKrROpY&t=3s it got easier. If you are after 100% achievements you will have to play through the campain more than once but unlike some other games it never felt like a grind.

This is probably the worst game I have in library.

If you want to, in any way shape or form, have a conventional RTS experience, this game isn't for you.
If you want to have an unconventional, but fun RTS experience, this game isn't for you.
If you think that devs should make sensible design decisions, this game isn't for you.

I'm not going to drag you through the mechanics of this game, but I'll hightlight what is definitly wrong with this and probably won't be fixed unless they completely rebuild the game:

1. Grouping.
Your units are placed in a grid and occupy square spaces of the same size for all units. This doesn't have to be a bad thing necessarily, however, if you cannot pass through your own units and paths sometimes only give you two possible squares to move through, it becomes a real pain to maneuver.

2. Movement.
The movement in this game is abyssmal. Aside from having extreme difficulties to effectively select units, you will also encounter problems with the pathfinding of each unit. Because your own units are impassable, you may find paths in which all movement comes to a halt. If you select an area to move to, the units will get predetermined places to stand on. However, if the units in the front will have the closest squares in that area and the path is narrow enough so that they block the movement for your other units, the other units will just quit moving altogether, which results in a split of all units and not even close to the positioning the game previews. That units will never attack while moving also results in some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ combat encounters.

3. Level design
From what I've played, there have been multiple missions in the campaign that will result in extremely unfavorable matchups against the AI. This wouldn't be too bad if the base mechanics were reasonably well designed. However, with the current implementation of them, some missions get either near impossible even on easy difficulties or result in very long spans of micro-ing every single unit into the correct position.

Verdict:
I can't conceive of a single reason anyone would want to play this game. Don't buy this, not even on sale.

Real-time stratégii nieje nikdy dosť a som rád že som si mohol zahrať aj Meridian.Moderná grafika vyzerá pekne a hra sa dobre hrá, aj ked je to niekedy neprehladné.
Ozvučenie tiež ujde a vtiahne vás do atmosféry hry.Ťaží sa surovina shardium sice jedna ale mne to stačí.Hru možem doporučit všetkým stratégom a je aj v češtine za čo som tiež rád.

Вместо того что бы сделать нормальный перевод(тупо с гуглом), вы делаете что то не полное и игра вылетает)))) Поставлю рекомендую, чисто ради прикола) нет конечно разрабы молодци, ситуацию всю обосновали, что команда делавшая перевод его недоделала и пропала, очень оперативно реагируют в обсуждениях, но все равно как то через ЖО....получается. Сама игра сделана неплохо, очень старкрафт напоминает. Визуально очень прикольно. Красивые кат сцены. Правда в общении с экипажем коробля ну я(честно) нечго не понимаю, ни что сказали, ни что ответить. Без Рус.яза очень плохо.

Might have been a good game...had it been released back in the late 90's. Sadly it doesn't measure up to todays standards. The visuals are acceptable for a budget title, and the music is nice (if somewhat limited). Gameplay however is where it falls down. You have almost no control over your units, who will run in an die suicidally as soon as they see an enemy, but will happily sit around and be sniped if the shooter is out of their vision range. They will ignore opposing buildings unless given specific attack orders. There is no way to control this behaviour.
Commander abilities added some depth, but couldn't be used enough to make it really interesting due to the energy limiting their use.
Skirmish AI is just an exercise in who can rush first. Oh, and they usually get rsource bonuses, and defenses are mid-game structures. Good luck having anything resembling "fun" there.

Very bad controls, unresponsive and laggy in terms of responsiveness of units. If you're used to Starcraft-tier of smoothness, this game is almost the exact opposite.

The gameplay itself is fun tho, I like the game mechanics.

Campaign was so-so, I didn't like to control the main guy on the ship but that's just me.

Overall i'd give this game a 5/10 and will not recommend until the devs fix their customization / responsiveness / controls.

hab das spiel etwas angetestet, aber da gibts ein paar probleme, es laagt manchmal, wenn ich z.B. bestimmte gebäude anklicke, ansonsten kann ich kann ich sagen es ist wie ein klon von starcraft 2 es ähnelt sehr daran. die grafik ist meiner meinung nach für die heutige zeit sehr gut, ausser das man nicht zoomen kann. zum rest kann ich nichts sagen, brauche viel mehr spielzeit

At first, looks nice. Path-finding is a little goofy.
You need everything to manage yourself. Example: resources units. they will laze around after one task is finished. No way of giving a command chain.
Just like first C&C. In every aspeckt. But the path-finding...

First game I looked for cheats. Because they are needed.
Last mission is no fun. Till today I never beaten it.

This mission is entirely scripted and adapts so you will have nearly no chance.

No they give you less resources, stock units, no research and 3 heros who die like the flies. And these 3 must survive.

Micromanagement only, no time for anything, you got zerg-rushed all the time. You need luck and at least 2 players, better 3. (Not possible.)

Micromanagement Hell.

If you like that sort of thing, you're going to love this game.

Produce only one unit at a time. Must configure each unit you produce individually. Must manually assign individual workers to various tasks, even if workers are standing around idly. This is especially bad when you go to build new buildings. Once workers are done with a task, they're idle, which is fine as I expect to have idle workers ... to automatically do the next do-once task that pops up. Workers can not be assigned to a task via assigning them to a building. Workers seem to be unable to repair buildings. You're expected to manually heal individual units on the battlefield during combat.

What I was expecting was something more along the lines of Spellforce. What I got was something where everyone acts like they're chess pieces.

Like I said, if this is your thing, you'll have a blast. But it's not mine. Ugh.

And yes, we all know you micromanager nutters are out there. "What's this? That soldier will stand around and get shot unless I tell him to shoot back? (♥♥♥♥ a little in his pants) Oooh, yeah, baby! I LOVE THIS GAME!"

Не верьте хорошим отзывам - геймплей самый простой, какой можно только придумать;
функциональность распределения команд на нуле;
разветвленность дерева юнитов и построек заставляет плакать;
плохой интерфейс меню;
нет мультиплеера (хотя это и не нужно для плохой игры, но всё же);
нет развития в игре (имеется в виду то, что разработчик не уделяет этой игре не минуты);
игра не играбельна на слабых машинах - нет оптимизации.

Итог: 2/10.

Wer es wie ich in einem sale kauft bekommt hier ganz sicher für wenig Geld solide Unterhaltung.

Meridian new world ist ein einfach gehaltenes RTS Singelplayer Game, welches mich ein wenig an die alten Zeiten von C+C erinnerte. In den Missionen müsst Ihr stark auf eure Einheiten aufpassen da die Einheitenanzahl doch recht begrenzt ist. Dafür habt Ihr dan auch verschiedene Fähigkeiten die Ihr mit der Zeit freischalten könnt um eure Einheiten zu heilen, zu buffen oder anderweitig taktisch zu unterstüzen. Genau dies macht auch den Reiz für mich aus.

This game has the worst AI of any RTS i have ever played, it is completely void of anything resempling an ounce of tactics.
Your key assets, which are not allowed to die in the final missions seems to have a death wish, automaticaly running head on into the enemy.

Dont buy this game, it looks nice enough, but it is extremely poorly programmed!!!

It's not that it's a bad game, it's just that it's not a good game. Everything about it is meh. Voice acting isn't awful, but it's not good. Writing isn't awful, but it's not good. Same with the graphics, the gameplay, the AIs, the UI, and the story.
I'm voting it down because the game is full of annoying ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, like really slow move speeds on your ship, patroling units that are out of sync and nearly impossible to pass, and a mission that is next to impossible just out of the blue.

What can i say ? I played warcraft 1 , warcraft 2 and warcraft 3. Used to play WC3 for more then like 2 000 hours and if i could be able to still play this game, i would keep play it ! If you liked WC1 and 2 Meridian New wolds is for you !!!! Greates FTS iv'e played after WC game ! what the price $10? it actually worth it, i'd buy that game event if it was $20, low graphics but it just mean every one can run it without lagging, crashing. If you like RTS , you actually want to have this one ! It simple to learn , it fun to play and addictive.

There is only one negativ things about the game, i feel like it missing somes units ( there is alots ) but i mean every units on the game are actually ranged , adding somes melees units would be great and make the game a little bit harder !

Ich finde die Umsetzung nicht schlecht !

Ein Mann Projekt? Soll es doch erst mal einer nach machen, ich hoffe das hier weiter Programmiert wird, scheint ja schon eine weile kein Update zu kommen, es sind noch ein Paar Übersetzungsfehler auf Deutsch zu finden.

Der Weg ist auf jedenfall richtig !

Man bekommt das Spiel grade für 1,39€, im Contributor Pack bekommt man das Spiel + Videos und Soundtracks für 2,59€

Die Sprache muss man über die Einstellungen im Spiel ändern.

Ich habs grade nur angespiel, wie heißt es doch, der erste eindruck zählt, werde mich noch mal genauer beschäftigen damit und den Eintrag hier ergänzen.

Да, 1 фракция на всю игру
Да, юнитов в этой фракции мало (9 штук) и они однотипны, но возможность навешать на 7 из них различное вооружение немного спасает положение.
Да, ИИ топорный и однообразный, вне зависимости от сложности.
И вместе с этим мы получаем приятный дизайн игры, уровней, юнитов, да еще и классный саундтрек. Механика игры стандартна, ничего нового нет, но и старое не испоганили, Сюжетную линию, вроде, тоже хвалят (сюжетка в ртс...только скримиш, только раш, деф и хардкор!).
Вся суть этой игры (за 169! рублей) - подарить игрокам пару тройку часиков пусть и простенькой, но чистокровной и так дорогой сердцу РТС старой школы.

игра разочаровала.
-анимация топорная, всего!
-у юнитов проблемы с поиском пути и вообще поведением(приходится все время жать"держать позицию" что б не разбегались
-мало юнитов. что-то около 9 (2 воздушных, 2 пехотинца, 5 танков), за то типов оружий на них можно навешать 8, которые смотрятся практически одинаково, стреляют лучами разных цветов, просто 8 цветов унылой однообразной радуги
-юниты не вплетены в систему "камень, ножницы, бумага, ящерица, спок", как в нормальных стратегиях, вместо этого просто имеют однотипную броню с небольшим различием в характеристиках "скорость-броня"
-ИИ никакущий. всегда атакует тактикой раша. Если отбил, считай победил
-компания скучна и убога (прошел 5 миссий)

эта стратегия пытается быть похожей на гибрид зимли2150/2160 и старкрафта, но уступает этим играм во всем, лучше в очередной раз поиграть в любую из них, чем искать новые ощущения в меридиане.

Very Bad game. the barracks has two units, light factory has 3 and heavey factory has 2. thats all about ground units. air units didn't go far from the ground , they are only two. one fighter and a bomber. the bomber bombs the target while standing motionles above it. this game is not worth anything. This game is quite bad, you can only play as 1 faction. There are not many buildings, very few units. The story is not the worst, but not great. Skirmish sucks ass... there's max 4 players per match. There's barely any resources to play with, if you want to play a hour long game... forget about it. Almost ran out of resources in 20 min. Cap limit is also way too low.

Well... i do not recommend it really.. i guess you could play the campaign if you get the discount at 1€ (the reason i bought the game). I didn't even finish campaign though, this game way too boring for a RTS kind of a guy like me... Was disappointed, damn.

Game doesn't seem to be optimised... i get weird fps lag, might just be me.

I would rate it 3/10.

Is not a bad game.
The story, is quite ok. But feels like an unfinished game. The last units unlocks at the end of game.
The most annoying parts are the way troupes detect and engage enemy. The troupes engage enemy from a too far distance. Way too far. Sometimes, to attack an enemy, units advance an unnecessary short distance. Not always detect the nearest enemy.
The energy to use special abilities refills too slow.

Is ok that the game have a demo.
The current price of 5 EURO (4.99 EURO, the sick pricing strategy) is more appropriate for the game.

유닛 자체의 보디 와 무기를 따로 선택해줘야 한다는 점에서는 자유도를 보장했다고 할수 있겠으나,
막상 초보자가 진입하기에는 장벽 자체가 너무 높지 않았나 싶으며, 조합으로 만들수 있는 유닛 자체도 그 종류가 애매하다.
흐름 자체가 빠르다고 느끼지는 않으나 이것은 사람에 따라 느끼는 점이 다를거 같다.

무엇보다 멀티를 해야 인구수가 늘어난다는 점은 이 게임의 재미를 말아먹는 가장 큰 단점이 아닐까 싶다.
얼리 억세스로 조금 더 지켜봐야 하겠지만 아직은 추천하지 않음.

Simply put, this game is awful to actually play. If that's all you need from a review, you can stop here. If you want to know WHY this game is awful, keep reading.

1. Storyline
The story is pretty uninspired. It's not completely terrible, but it's nothing you haven't seen before. Maybe it gets better, but I couldn't get too far due to numerous frustrations before I dropped the game. The voice acting is at best, average. WIth woodenly delivered lines, and dialogue that could have been written by a chat-bot.

2. Gameplay
This is the main problem. An average to below average plot/voice acting can often be made up for in gameplay. Unfortunately these developers seem to have forgotten how RTS' work.

Problem 1: The perspective and selection of units.
The angle of the game, and the awful awful unit boxes make it very difficult to get all your units, or select individual units, or really do basic things quickly and efficiently. Did you miss on of your units when trying to select it? Well screw you player! Because now you have NOTHING selected. Isn't that great? There are several abilities in the game that you are to use on a singular unit. This is difficult and can cause issues. Anyone who is used to a well made RTS, and want's to micro and control army effectively is in for a bad time. This however, is not the only contributor to that bad time.

Problem 2: The (lack of) pathfinding
You know when you play a game, and sometimes your unit happens to go a weird way around the map to the location you sent it to? Usually doesn't happen that often, and usually isn't a big deal. That's not the case In Meridian: forgotten mechanics. Do you want to move somewhere specific? They will eventually get there. Not together, not in a timely manner, but eventually. Just hope there are no enemies to fight.

What happens when there are enemies? Well I'm glad you asked! See, if you run in to an enemy, while moving around the map, chances are everyone in your dumb as hell army has separated into squads of 1. Thankfully, the enemy AI will just put them out of their misery. Now, it is possible you'll actually have your army together and want to attack. One of the basic moves in an RTS is to Attack move. In almost every RTS ever made, as soon as an enemy is in sight and range, the guns start blazing. In "Meridian: What LSD trip made us think we knew how to make a game", you will find, at almost every occasion, your units running directly at the enemy without firing. Without realizing that they are NOT some sort of kamikaze unit. Without deigning to obey your commands in a remotely satisfactory manner.

Thanks to these amazing mechanics, you often need to retreat to try to herd your dumb struck army in to a semblance of a group so you can actually play the game. In most RTS' retreat is a viable strategy. In "Meridian: Oh my GOD does anyone know how to walk?" this is nigh impossible. Retreating involves attempting to move away from the enemy. In the unlikely event your units actually manage to walk away from the enemy, you will find them immediately attempting to engage the enemy. The worst part is, the terrible pathing and AI means that they will have half trying to get back somewhere, half who are going the other way and get stuck on eachother, and no one actually firing on the enemy OR retreating. The target acquisition range is just absolutely nuts. It doesn't make sense. I've had units react to hostiles WHO WEREN"T VISIBLE YET. I'm pretty sure Chewbacca lives on Endor, because it just doesn't, make, sense.

Bonus problem:
Hotkeys. I get having your own hotkeys for your game so you can be "different" so all the cool kids will like you. But changing fundamentals like moving the hold position command from 'H' to 'E' is just plain stupid. There's many similar changes in this game. "Meridian: who even needs hotkeys anyway" decided to reinvent their hotkeys from the refined version most games have settled with, to a new pile of crap that no one wants to be in.

3. Graphics
This is the only area where Meridian: Really Shiny gets any sort of credit. I'm not saying it's a visually stunning masterpiece. But it is nice. It's vibrant. Also really shiny. Nothing to write home about, but nothing particularly bad either.

Final Thoughts: There are lots of RTS games out there. There is a reason that Command and Conquer, Warcraft 1, 2 AND 3, Starcraft 1 AND 2 are all timeless classics. There is a reason that most RTS games have similar if not identical base mechanics to each other. It's because they WORK, and they work WELL. They allow strategy, micro and macro. Meridian: Barely a functional game decided that's not necessary in their RTS. They wanted to be different, to be cool, instead everyone should be making fun of them and ignoring them.

Красивые ролики, интересная графика, ход компании, разнообразие миссий... и это все, что сделали хорошо. Все остальное нужно "допиливать" и очень сильно! Ждал полгода, думал ребята косяки видели, работают. Ага, болт!!! Всех все устраивает! куча недоработок, без которых стратегии как таковой просто не существует! Сколько "дамажат" юниты?, как настроить их глупый, тупорылый ИИ?, баланс урона в игре вообще по каким законам считается? И это только основные мелочи... еще куча куча всего!!! Не оставляет надежда, что все таки разработчики готовят обновления и исправления...

Das Spiel hat Potenzial und funktioniert soweit ganz gut. Sound und Grafik sind ganz okay. Die individuelle Bewaffnung der Einheiten (8 Waffensysteme) ist super. Und es ist ein Map-Editor dabei.

Allerdings gibt es keinen Multiplayer, daher muss man mit der KI vorlieb nehmen. Und die ist grottenschlecht! Die Probleme zeigen sich sowohl bei den KI-Spielern.. als auch bei den eigenen Einheiten:

Man ist nonstop damit beschäftigt alle seine Einheiten zu kontrollieren, weil es keinen Bewachen-Modus gibt. Deswegen laufen sie Feinden quer über die ganze Map hinterher. Und sie kommen oft auch nicht mehr zurück sondern bleiben dann irgendwo stehen. Es gibt nur einen Stopp-Modus, bei dem sie dann überhaupt nicht mehr laufen (und auch recht zügig zerstört werden). Schickt man sie von A nach B werden Feinde unterwegs nicht angegriffen.

Die Gegner-KI schickt zuverlässig Einheiten in die Spieler-Basis und die KI-Spieler machen sich auch gegenseitig platt. Stört man jedoch das Balancing in der gegnerischen Basis nur ein wenig.. dann wird die KI irgendwie hilflos. Es reichen schon wenige Kraftwerke und man legt die gesamte Basis lahm (keine Produktion mehr und keine Abwehrtürme). Raffinerien werden eigentlich nie neu gebaut. Rohstoff-Lager eignen sich auch gut für Angriffe.. dann steht der Gegner ohne Rohstoffe da (keine Produktion mehr). Schwierigkeitsgrad "hard" wohlgemerkt. Auf "easy" und "normal" wurden bisher nicht mal Forschung oder Abwehrtürme gebaut.

Wenn man schnell gewinnen will.. braucht man nur eine Bomberstaffel..

Das einzig gute an der KI ist, dass sie offenbar nicht cheatet. Das muss ich mal positiv erwähnen. Ehrlich aber dumm. Wenn die etwas mehr drauf hätte.. würde es Spaß machen.

Tolles Spiel. Toll umgesetzt. Und das als ein 1-Mann-Projekt? Hut ab dafür. Der Preis lässt einen so manchen Fehler verzeihen. Mitunter ist es dann doch schon etwas unfair-schwer. Aber gut... was einen nicht umbringt macht einen stärker.

A mostly solid RTS from a small team, it has a nice plot and some rpg mechanics. The unit weapon customisation was good but it was hard to tell at a glance which unit had which weapon.

The varied missions are another plus to me, though instant failure stealth sections (thankfully rare) are a bit annoying.

It's all marred by the unit pathing (causing chokepoints to often become a nightmare.) But that's not too bad in most cases.

Still had fun with it, and the music was great.

It's been a long time since I enjoyed a game that reminded me of the old and amazing C&C games.
It has it's differences, like building units with different types of weapons, a storyline different than the usual, where depending on the answers you give, the game follows a different story line, among other things.
The only aspect I "missed" was the fact that there was no zoom in/out function, but after a couple of missions, I realized the default zoom setting was very good.
Got the game on a 70% sale, so it was more than worth the 4,99€ it costed :)

RTS, otherwise known as Real Time Strategy has become quite rare in today’s day an age. Oh, there are a number of offshoots, but very few modern day RTS that still hold to the core root of the genre. Sadly while Meridian comes close, it still misses what I personally consider a true RTS.

First the pros:

PRO’s
1. Interesting set of weapons each with their own unique attributes. While fun, they do become redundant when all are unlocked.

2. Decent enough graphics. Cut-scenes are adequate with a few neat space shots.

3. So-so story, and a few unique missions that are out of the norm. Adding some variety.

4. Audio is well done.

5. Voice actors actually fit their role and put the appropriate emotion behind their lines.

6. Turrets and normal structure building expected of a RTS.

7. Missions where you have a locked group of units explore and fight maps. Requiring a certain level of timing and strategy.

8. Special orders/powers are always fun, and actually influence the game quite a bit. Especially on certain maps.

CON’s

1. Units are incredibly limited by the end of the game. Very little variety. With only 1 species/faction.

2. Story is so-so by the end, neither impressive nor a failure. Could have used something unique to spice it up.

3. AI programming can be very annoying. Example, send a unit to fight, but there is not enough room. So the AI sends the units around the entire map if necessary, rather than what most RTS do in pushing units forward so they can all shoot. If there is no route, they pile up waiting for the unit in front to die.

4. Long excursions, units will chase enemies to their death. Which requires the player’s constant attention in order to avoid pointless losses.

5. Some incredibly irritating missions, where the game locks you in place and forces certain actions without the options of a true RTS. For example, rather than a normal unit cap that only requires a little cache (or whatever the game wants built), Meridian has map locks where special expensive factories must be placed in unique zones that are not available on every map. Otherwise the unit cap is locked to under 10 – 20 units.

6. Mission completion usually entails exterminating an enemy’s every structure and unit. This can grow irksome when fighting multiple opponents, and a waste of time at the end. Where all you can do is cleanup of the map.

While the game has a number of irritations, it also has some positive RTS draws. For the price, it is more than worth a purchase. I can only hope the developers will add some interesting content in the future.

I give it 3.2 out of 5 for the overall gameplay, skirmish, and campaign.

I love this game I have not had as much time as I would like playing it but I bought this as a early access because I really miss the old school type 90's RTS games and this really reminds me of what Starcraft used to be before it got caught up in all the glamor and crap no one really wants.

This game is a great addition to the RTS lineup if you like a true RTS game it holds true to the game style while adding in amazing HD style modern graphics. And the price is reasonable for good gameplay well worth supporting future development as the dev has consistently updated and added new features throughout the entire cycle from infancy to now.

Voilà un jeu prometteur mais qui m'as bien déçu de par ses bugs et sa finalisation. Ce jeu a fait pendant un long moment partie de ma liste d'envie jusqu’à ce qu'une offre promotionnel me permette son achat . J'en espérer donc beaucoup , on y voyais des combats futuriste combinant les classiques cristaux en ressources , des bases constructible et de la personnalisation d'unité de combat à la Earth 2160 ou warzone . J’espérais y voir une relève audacieuse d'une boite de développement indépendante au pathétique Starcraft II .

Ce jeu possède malgrè tout de nombreux points positifs :

- Les graphismes , certains pourraient les décriées mais pour un STR ils sont très correct surtout venant d'une petite boîte de production et permette le fonctionnement du jeu sur la plupart des machines sans nécessité une bête de combat.

- Le système économique bien que classique est ingénieux , la population étant limité par des mines placable uniquement a certains endroit , ce qui évite comme dans certains jeux de pouvoir crée une masse illimité d'unité sans avoir à se soucié des pertes au combat .

- Les pouvoirs du commandant , ce n'est pas une innovation réelle car elle fut déjà vu dans command and conquer générals et certainement dans d'autre jeu dont je n'ai pas connaissance . Votre commandant gagne des niveaux qui vous permettent de vous offrir des pouvoir tel que guérir une/des unité(s) ,augmenter la vitesse de construction ou encore endommager une/des unité(s) ennemis . Mais ici pas de timer pour ré-utiliser un pouvoir , vous avez une barre de puissance de commandant qui se recharge petit a petit vous permettant de vous offrir les pouvoirs , chaque pouvoir ayant un coût en puissance . Ainsi vous pouvez choisir d'utiliser tel ou tel pouvoir a des moments décisif de certaines batailles ce qui peut rapidement les faire tourner a votre avantage ou a votre désavantage si le commandant ennemi utilise ses pouvoirs .

- Les simulations de votre vaisseau mère sont assez innovante , il s'agit en fait de mini-"défis" vous donnant la tête de quelques unités d'un type ayant un objectif à accomplir sur un map de très petite taille . Ces simulations ne relèvent pas vraiment d'un quelconque difficultés mais peuvent permettre a certaines personnes de mieux connaître un type de caractéristique d'unité .

- Les missions sont assez bien pensée , les cartes sont étudiés . Certaines missions nous laissent même avec des choix à faire influent sur la mission et sa difficulté . Il y a des missions d'infiltration ou de survie assez bien pensée .

- Le point le plus positif pour moi reste l'histoire , bien réaliser , avec des dialogues ( en anglais st anglais , pas VF du jeu) bien écrit et permettant une immersion dans le monde proposé par ce jeu . S'il devait y avoir une raison pour lequel j'ai poussé ce jeu jusqu'au bout , c'est bien celle de voir la fin de l'histoire qui bien que non extra-ordinaire est suffisamment bien amener pour permettre au joueur de vouloir en découvrir plus .

Voilà pour les points positifs , voyons maintenant ce qui m'as décider à ne pas vous recommander objectivement ce jeu :

- La personnalisation des unités est très limités , seules les armes peuvent être changer et encore pour les unités robotique portant 2 armes , il n'y as pas la possibilité de pouvoir mettre 2 armes différentes . C'est un bon en arrière par rapport aux prédécesseur de ce genre que sont Warzone ou la série des Earth .

- Les châssis d'unités sont très peu nombreux , il doit y avoir en tout 10 types d'unités différentes en comptant les 2 types de soldats et le char lourd non modifiable . évidemment chacun de ces 7 châssis est équipable de n'importe quel arme mais cela fait somme toute assez léger pour un jeu n'ayant qu'une race à proposer .

Nous pourrions dire que pour ce qui est des châssis et de la personnalisation d'unité, la limitation de budget d'une boîte indépendante ne permet pas d'en faire des points réellement négatifs . Mais les points négatifs suivants sont ma raison de ne pas recommander le jeu , ces points AURAIT dû être améliorer et fignoler AVANT la sortie libre du jeu , enfin il n'est jamais trop tard ^^ .

- Le Pathfinding ( le chemin qu'une unité doit calculer pour se rendre d'un point A à un point B ) est une véritable horreur, certaines fois les unités s'arrêtent parce qu'elle ne comprennent pas où aller alors que les autres véhicules y vont. D'autres fois pour attaquer un ennemis , l'unité va trouver sympas de venir au corps à corps avec elle ... on ne sait jamais sa mort l'endommagera peut-être ^^ .
Le pire et je compte ça pour des problèmes de path-finding est le refus d'ordre d'une unité , vous voulez vous replier ou déplacer une unité notamment souvent un héros qui a peu de PV , hé bien non l'unité ( ou certaines des unités ) refuse tout simplement de vous obéir et continue a combattre malgré votre ordre , vous êtes obliger de perdre de précieuses secondes qui peuvent aboutir à la mort de votre héros ou de plusieurs unités .
Je me vois malheureusement dans l'obligation d'insisté car un STR repose avant tout sur la qualité du path-finding de ses unités ! Et perdre ses unités bêtement car elle se savent plus quoi faire pour aller d'un endroit à un autre est tout simplement stupide . Ces problèmes aurait du être résolu avant de sortir le jeu !

- Il y a pas mal de jeu ne possédants pas de système pour dire a une unité de défendre une zone ( mode défensif ) , être en mode agressif ou autre . Ce jeu s'arrête au strict minimum , nous avons 3 commandes d'ordre stop , tenir position , attaqué . Nous reviendrons sur ces 2 derniers juste après . Dans ce genre de cas dans la plupart des jeux et celui-ci ne fait pas exception , par défaut les unités défendent une zone et poursuivent l'ennemi . Sauf qu'ici la zone de défense de l'unité est bien trop grande ( supérieur à leur propre champs de vision ) , elle peut réagir a des ennemis visible par un autre groupe d'unité qui font de la reconnaissance et aller les combattre alors qu'elle sont en train de garder un point essentiel comme un pont ou un secteur précis . Ainsi cela peut vite devenir ingérable avec ces unités bougeant parfois toutes seule pour aller combattre des unités ennemis parfois assez loin .

- Pour résoudre ce problème , il y a l’ordre de tenir position , mais je ne sais pas s'il ne s'agit que de ma version mais dans ce mode là , les unités ne bougent certes plus mais surtout elle n'attaquent plus sauf si elle même sont attaqué . J'ai l'impression que le tenir position rend simplement "aveugle" les unités . Elles ne bougent donc plus combattre au loin mais elle ne bougeront pas non plus le petit doigt si un ennemi est à portée .

- Soit autant envoyé toutes les unités en mode attaque sur une zone , soit avancer et attaquer une commande d'ordre classique permettant d'affronter toute ennemis rencontrer . Sauf que si vous avez lu le paragraphe sur le path-finding vous savez que les unités font pas ce qu'elles devraient faire , ainsi pendant les combats vous avez les multiples suicide au corps à corps et autre joie de dispersion d'unités . Attention aussi dans ce jeu contrairement a la plupart des jeux il n'y a pas de calage de la vitesse du groupe sur l'unité la plus lente , chaque unité va a sa vitesse propre ce qui est une gestion supplémentaire .

- Le jeu est buggé , certaines maps avec des ennemis fixent avance vers vous , vous perdez . recommencer la mission et plus de mouvement ennemi ect ...

Ainsi ce jeu n'est pas mauvais mais il est de mon point de vue juste inachevée .Une fois les corrections de path-finding et de bug apporté , il sera sûrement un bon jeu sans prétention acclimaté d'un bonne histoire et d'un faible taux d'unité espérons le amélioré par la suite ^^ .

[b] A bit of a rant about the things that frustrated me about this game: [/b]
Kudos to this lone developer for making what is essentially the basis for a great game. Unfortunately, the developer made a few gameplay decisions which entirely spoilt this game for me, especially since this is a strategy game. Namely:
[list] [*] cannot attack while moving (can't even begin to list the strategic consequences of this)
[*] too few micromanagement options (such as no patrol option, no defend-this-building button, no action/movement queuing)
[*] Units sometimes wouldn't auto-acquire enemies that came in range.
[*] "attack towards" would first move my units forwards a few meters before attacking anything
[*] too few units and buildings (exaggerates hard counters, eg 2 rocket-launcher light tanks beats a whole army of troopers. What's worse is that because there are so few unit types theres a very good chance that this would happen. You end up needing to build 2 of everything which is just fiddly and annoying)
[*] Finally, I stopped playing this game after a Campaign map where the enemy has somehow amassed an army of around 100 units, and had 6 unit-producing buildings surrounded by turrets. It was an impenetrable wall of units that just kept regenerating.

[b]An example of how a fight would play out: [/b]
[i]You have a squadron of aerial fighters with high-ranged armor-piercing weapons. The enemy has a rag-tag mix of every conceivable vehicle/infanty and weapon variant. [b]In all likelihood you'll win this one.[/b] However, you need to retreat in order to prevent the AI from focus firing your units down. You spend a few seconds moving away (taking damage the whole time and unable to damage them while doing so) they finally catch up, but their high-range tanks reached you first and they start shooting (out of field of vision range) you use the attack-towards command to save the few seconds it takes to manually target them once they come into your view. Your units fly a bit farther than was necessary due to ♥♥♥♥♥♥ auto targetting; putting their whole army in range of yours. Very soon your whole army is getting flanked and shot down one-by-one with no focus fire. You cannot do the retreat strategy because that means more time taking damaging whilst dealing no damage. You decide to manually focus fire. That's all good an fine, but you're losing damage efficiency in the seconds between then your manual target dies and when you manually target the next enemy. Don't even think about using the attack-towards function to lessen this down time, though, because we've already established that it's not viable. .. in a last desperate attempt to win the fight you retreat slightly and attack-towards just in front of where the remaining enemy army will emerge. This time, a close-ranged scouting vehicle comes into sight on its own (slightly ahead of the rest of their army) your unit's auto-acquire this target; quickly killing it before any other enemies come into sight. You move a few meters forwards; (unbeknowst to you) you reach the spot where you'd originally anticipated they would appear... HOWEVER! The attack-towards command has finished executing. Now, due to ♥♥♥♥♥♥ auto-targetting your units dont even attack the rest of the enemy army as it comes into sight. You get picked off in the following few seconds. You escape with 3 units left on 5% health each. You use AoE heal, but somehow despite your units being within the displayed grid only one of them gets healed at all.[/i]

This game had so much potential but it just falls very short of what it could have become. The biggest problem i have with this (even though alot might not agree with me) is that in skirmish the AI does not realy fight amongst themselfs unless they happen to meet each other along the way to your base. As the player you HAVE to rush and build an army ASAP to defend yourself, leaving alot to be desired of the base itself. It also seems that the AI cheats like hell, even on lower difficulty's. It's a shame but im not going to recommend this game.

This game is an RTS developed on a competitive formula and created mostly by a single person. The graphics are on par with many modern RTS titles and the gameplay is, for the most part, slick and elegant. As an RTS, its only pitfall in my opinion is a lack of factions and the ability to have team battles. The game currently lacks multiplayer, but the developer has stated that he plans on adding it in later. The campaign is a very interesting take on the RTS formula with interesting and varied missions that are actually quite challenging. It's a nice throwback to the quality of RTS that we used to see back during their inception, a la C&C and Red Alert. This is a fun game that you should support as much on principle as in practice- one guy made this game, and it's nearly as good as strong titles like Starcraft and Company of Heroes.

Super geiles game hatte schon länger nach solchen strategischen games gesucht ,also alle die echtzeit strategie games lieben das wäre was! Ich hab auch command and conquer und die starcraft Teile gespielt und das game kommt auch gut heran die hersteller hätten vllt noch nen multieplayer mit lan funktion rausbringen sollen aber ich bin trotzdem zufrieden ^^

I really wanted to like this game. I really did. Two main problems keep me from doing so.

1. Babysitting. I can't send units from one part of the map to another and depend on them to get there in one piece, because they will move to that spot without fighting back against attacks on their way there. Even in Command and Conquer, units would shoot back when being attacked, but these units just march to their deaths and don't do anything to try and prevent it.

2. Dumb units. Select a unit or units to attack and enemy and will they open fire once within range? Not always. Sometimes they'll walk past the enemy to shoot from one particualr side. Why would they insist on shooting from the right rather from the left even though the left is of equal distance from the enemy and doesn't expose them to enemy fire like the right side does? Who knows, death wish?

Some odd programming choices here. Sadly, I'll be uninstalling the game.

Однозначно, да. Это один из немногих представителей древнего жанра RTS, который в последнее время стал выходить ну ооооооочень редко. Из плюсов игры: красивая графика, приятные видеоролики между миссиями, хотя и короткие, опять же, представитель жанра RTS, разнообразие юнитов, зданий и технологий. Из минусов: всего один вид войск, как у вас, так и у врагов, как в Planetary Annihilation, отсутствие масштаба карты и смена угла обзора или, я просто тупой не нашол, как это сделать, отсутствие мультиплеера - это вообще мего косяк в жанре RTS, надеюсь с патчем исправят. Так же неудобный текст на русском, не влазиет в рамки и бысто меняеется, в середине 8 мисси перестает вообще поддерживатся на версии 1.0. Пустой мир, ни местной фауны ни смены погоды, дня и ночи. Сюжет банальный, но подается более менее интересно. Сама игра похожа на C&C 3: Tiberium Wars, Ground Control 2 и WorldShift. В общем за 350р. можно и купить.

I have enjoyed my short time in the game. For the price it is a steal. Does it reinvent RTS games? Not by a long shot, but it does stay true to the elements that make RTS games fun. So far the campaign mode has been solid and considering the size of the developer that is behind this, it is quite frankly a damn fine achivement. So if you are looking for yet another RTS to add to your collection you could choose far worse for way more money.

I like very much. It is little bit rough, but seems stable and kinda sucks in. It tries to make it more personal with very small role playing part. The RPG doesn't give much options or way to affect things, but it's there nevertheless and somehow helps associating to the characters. Also, it tries to throw special missions during the big missions. Like once there was a tower defence sub-mission. Doesn't get boring so easily.

What I don't like is that I cannot queue actions with shift. Some other people probably won't like the simplified tactics against computer. I mean I seem to get far by just building healing scouts in masses.

Wer die alten "Westwood" C&C teile kennt und gern spielte/spielt, wird mit MERIDIAN New World große freude haben. Basis bauen, Geld scheffeln , Tech-Forschungen , Basistürmchen bauen und guterletzt seinen Feind in die Eier treten

(die KI hat auch noch in sich. Bei Normal muss man schon aufpassen, die kann einen ganz schön zusetzen)

Was ich persönlich Klasse find : Schraub deine eigene Einheit zusammen, sprich warum einen Schweren Läufer nicht mit Scharfschützen-Laser ausrüsten ;) , oder die Scouts mit Miningtools zum Abbauen schicken.
Die verschiedenen Fahrzeug"klassen" können alle die selben Waffen/Miningtool tragen was einen große Freiheit in seiner Angriffs und Dev-Strategie lässt.

Da es Early Access ist, is noch nicht viel drinn, aber kommt ja noch :)
und Musik ist auch richtig gut

Oui, c'est un jeu de stratégie à l'ancienne, et ça fait du bien d'avoir droit à quelque chose de simple : pas de zoom, pas de 3D, pas de gestion avancée, juste un peu de collecte et beaucoup de combat. La beauté en souffre un peu, mais soit, le jeu est beau, fluide et bien fait. On ne peut demander plus.

Par contre, on se perd un peu au niveau des unités. Chaque type d'unité peut embarquer tous les types d'armes disponibles, arme choisie lors de la construction. C'est intéressant, mais je trouve plus simple d'avoir des unités à stats fixes, avec lesquelles se repérer plus facilement. Ce n'est pas vraiment une lacune, plus un point qui me chifonne.

Et puis, le jeu est dur. Vous allez en avoir pour vos nerfs.

Начитавшись хвалебных отзывов о том дескать что игра хороша, имеет современную графику и напоминает старые игры по геймплею приобрел, эту игру. После первых трех миссий, пришло понимание - что все в игре похоже на многие предыдущие игры, и если брать к примеру серию игр Starcraft несмотря на выход 2й части и немного изменений графики в сторону мультяшности разработчики продумали каждую деталь, нюанс, и логику. В Меридиане нет проработанности, такое ощущение что игру сделали лет так 8 назад и отправили в будущее, отвратительно все, начиная от хваленой графики - она совсем не торт, заканчивая самим геймплеем, он скучный и не захватывающий, нет тонкой тактики, толстой стратегии, ничего нет, собираем пачку юнитов и проносим все. Сами битвы смотрится скучно встает пачка юнитов в линию и перестреливается с такой же линией, на ходу стрелять они категорически отказываются, причем отсутствует кнопка продвигаться и атаковать(Generals 2002 года есть опция), что есть в любой современной игре. Роботы и их атаки смотрятся скучно, нет вращения корпусом, нет визуальных моделек разрушений хотя бы на 50% повреждений, тоже самое и с сооружениями. Развитие генерала вообще скучное и унылое и дело тут не в способностях, а в их визуализации выглядит оно не интересно и не понятно почему вражеские юниты повреждаются. Красивости здесь в основном лишь в дизайне сооружений, внешне они приятные, но после нескольких миссий уже не хочется на них смотреть, для открытки сгодится а вот в игровом процессе они себя никак не проявляют, не втягивают игрока. Единственно полезная идея это с изменениями вооружения техники, хотя тотальные изменения в дизайне, корпусах, ходовых выглядели бы куда более интересно.

В конце у меня просто сложилось мнение - разработчик занимался чем-то другим, а это решил создать чтоб срубить бабла на теме заброшенной крупными воротилами.

This game makes me want to make my first brief review :D

Here are my feelings about this game. From what I see, the ideas behind were really good. Each type of weapon had its role on different tech level. Well, really not tech levels but researching weapons and chasiss is like giving you the advantage if the enemy did not predict/react fast enough.

I was really impressed that you made a game by yourself, which is good looking, not too overwhelming (supreme commander such) and simple while not being too simple. I am putting some ideas here that I think makes the game more awesome:

1. More customization aspects! I could see weapons already play a "different unit type role" but some chassis modifier may do the job. For example, Increased movement speed, adding a shield that takes only one hit and regenerate after going out of battle. Don't need to make too complicated through. Less is good xD(but not bald :) ) See impossible creatures, I've played that game and love it especially the army customization but it was never known by all. Anyway, special modifiers do add depths to the game. Would love to see some more vehicle chassis though.

2. Current state it is hard to distinguish one unit type that have different weapons, as the weapons are very insignifant to be seen (other than a whole of chimeras) Maybe: 1.Adding some modifier to the look so it is easier to distinguish the same unit with different weapons, like missile pods added on rocket chimera. 2. Make group selection weapon dependent also. currently when I double click, I select all chimeras(expect for miners) and send them to die. combining with 1, it is more friendly to micromanage during battles.

3. add passive powers. Maybe not that significant as I can see energy plays a important rule in decision making?

4. smoother unit movements! Flocking AI like starcraft did will do the magic! In real life army march in order instead of randomly clamp into each other right? xD Doesnt imply having to set up formations do.(I saw someone mentioned)

5. one more level of difficulty! It is nice to have good ai in current state, but I would love to see overpowering ais that can drive us to adrenline( at least I am not pro gamer on rts :p)

Too bad there was no infantry customization. :) They tend to be underpowered and probably may not able to cope with anything in late game (maybe because I had'nt seen all weapons yet?) I do not want to see just whole army of chimeras clamp into each other xD

I appreciate your work on this game and it do refresh my seeings with rts(no more dead C&C series, boring sequences of some rts and the good but nothing-changed-on-substance starcraft2) This game just need a lot more polish to perfect.

Hopes you can finish the game with surprises for us :D Anyway, I love mad cat. ;)

Visuals are good. Sound is OK. Camera is terrrible. Map size is outdated. Controls are horrible. You can't add units to control group. You can't move camera to control group. The camera itself is at fixed tiny height.

tl;dr : This game is a waste of money.

Ein Echtzeitstrategie-Spiel das in der Alpha schon einwandfrei funktioniert.
Die Kampagne ist nachvollziehbar und die Geplänkel fordernd.

Was nochfehlt sind ein paar funktionen zur Truppensortierung etc.

Noch zu erwähnen ist die kleine RPG funktion die uns kleinere Boosts gibt.

Alles in allem ein sehr gutes Spiel und daher eine absolute Kaufempfehlung

Biggest waste of time ever. When the game was acctually working the gameplay was confusing and boring. After 5 mins the game crashed. I tried playing it again but it woundn't launch. If you are looking for a strategy game that has awesome effects keep looking, the images lie to to you the game looks nothing like that.

Ich habe dieses Spiel gekauft, weil ich nach einer neueren Version von Earth 2150: The Moon Project gesucht hab und genau das hat sich auch erfüllt. Die Parallelen sind ziemlich Augenscheinlich, selbst die Menüs sind ähnlich gestaltet, der Begriff "Skirmish" taucht wieder auf als Spiel gegen den Computer. Die Einheiten sind ähnlich und so weiter. Es gibt allerdings leider nach meiner Beobachtung bis jetzt keine unterschiedlichen Zivilisationen. Ein Karteneditor ist in der Version die ich hab noch nicht mit dabei, aber scheint noch zu kommen. Bis jetzt läuft es völlig frei von Fehlern, was für ein unfertiges Spiel ziemlich gut erscheint.

Überrascht hat mich zunächst die Dynamik des Spielablaufes (ich rede vom Skirmish-Modus). Man muss direkt von Beginn an Einheiten produzieren, weil man sonst selbst von der leichtesten AI sofort überrannt wird, denn die Gebäude können keine Verteidigungsaufgaben übernehmen. Unterstützt wird die Geschwindigkeit des Spielablaufs durch Limits von Energie, Rohstoffspeicher, Energie des Commanders und Einheitenlimits, welche sich mit der Zeit zwar erhöhen lassen, aber dazu führen, dass man seine Einheiten wirklich in den Kampf schicken muss wenn man alles optimal nutzen möchte. Das führt zu sehr spannenden Kämpfen, bei denen absolut nicht sofort klar ist, welche Einheitenwahl, welche "Buildorder" usw. die beste ist. Zudem hat man noch den Commander, der mit eigener sich wieder aufladender Energieskala ausgestattet ist und zu dem man mit der Zeit mehr Fähigkeiten freischaltet, deren richtige Verwendung auch eine Wissenschaft für sich sein kann, wenn man es möglichst gut machen will.
Ich kann mir vorstellen, dass das im Onlinespiel irre Spaß macht!
Die Kampagne hab ich bis jetzt noch nicht getestet weil mich bei einem RTS eher die 1v1s und die Strategie darin interessieren. Deshalb kann ich dazu nichts sagen.

Ich fasse mal zusammen:

+ augenscheinlich ähnlich Earth 2150
+ dynamische strategische Kämpfe mit denen es direkt losgeht (sehr interessant fürs Onlinespiel)
+ Spiel macht allgemein einen sehr guten Eindruck (Grafik, Gestaltung, Soundtrack usw.)

- später weniger Entwicklungsmöglichkeiten nach dem was ich bisher beobachtet habe, denn es gibt keine Zeitalter und die Einheitenentwicklungen sind auch relativ schnell erschöpft. Spieler die sich gerne in Ruhe aufbauen und denen es Spaß macht viele coole Technologien zu entwickeln, sind hier eher falsch würde ich sagen (was das Spiel leider negativ von Earth 2150 unterscheidet)

This is great! Lots of fun to play and runs smooth. It is completely built around single player at this stage with a cool leveling system in place for your commander. Hard to believe that this is mostly the work of one man. I see a lot of potential and eagerly await for more to come!

I'm writing this review for anyone getting this in early access. I am experiencing a crash to desktop issue every time I try to load the second mission. Not the initial tutorial, but the one after. I recognize that this is likely an early access related problem, and is also probably not a problem for everyone. Just please be aware that there are issues that still need to be addressed before you put money down on this.

I cannot reccomend this game until I can play it through. So right now, I'd reccomend you delay your purchase, but keep an eye on this one for later.

After playing it for three days, doing some skirmishes and getting to the last current mission (Mission 5 at the time of the review), I have to say I am very impressed. This game is really simple, but in a good way. Almost no learning curve to the basics of this game. It reminds me of Command and Conquer and the first Starcraft put together.

Pros:
*Even with only about 8 (I count the fighter and heavy fighter as one) units total, it's diverse.
-3 Units (infantry and bomber) only have 1 available weapon.
-1 Unit has 4 (Fighter/Heavy Fighter) weapon choices
-4 Units have 5 (Light/Heavy Vehicles) Choices
-(I count tier 1 and 2 weapons as one because the upgrade replaces the tier 1)

*For an RTS it has a pretty good story to it.
-In between missions you can walk around your ship and converse with the crew, run training simulations, and read about various parts of the game.

*Optamization
-As stated in another review, there are virtually no loading times. My rig is a 4 year old gaming laptop and missions and skirmishes load up in less than 5 seconds.

*Fun campaign

*Good graphics
-The graphics are really good for how smooth it is, even the cutscenes are really good looking.

Cons:
*No way to zoom in or pan the camera.
-Normally I play supreme commander, so I don't really care about panning the camera, but being unable to zoom in and out can be a minor inconvinience at times.

*Short campaign
-As fun as it is, it was over too soon, BUT!!! it is only on mission 5 so far. The dev is still adding missions in as the game progresses

*Only one faction
-I'm not even able to really speculate on whether I feel there would be another faction or not. It's too soon to tell but I don't see why there wouldn't be plans for one.

*A little buggy
-I had a start up error, but the crash report was very detailed and provided multiple troubleshooting ideas to solve the problem and they worked. This is an early access game, so bugs are to be expected.

*Pathfinding
-The AI pathfinding cand be really bad at times. I.E. I send a scout to one corner of the map and it cuts through and enemy base on the opposite side of the destination. Still good for the games current stage.

Neutral Points:
(These are neither good or bad, just some features that some people might like and others may not)
*Snipers can outrange defense turrets
*Defense turrets function like the NOD Turrets in C&C 3: Tiberium Wars (There is a central hub that is linked to turrets)
*A rank up tree (level up, get perks)
*Halowars Deathmatch style unit cap. You increase your unit cap by building structures.

All in all I do recommend this game. More so if it is on sale.

If you're a fan of RTS games, ala SC2 this game might just be for you. Is it StarCraft II??...well, no.

But this game puts a few interesting spins on the RTS formula that make it really interesting and fun to play. Instead of producing a standard unit and upgrading offense/defense from an approriate facility (this game has this feature aswell for unit specific upgrades), any weapon upgrades you research for your units can ONLY be applied when they are created. For example, you can Research upgraded cannons, rockets, lasers, railguns etc. that are purchased with the creation of your new unit (varried costs). Cannons are strong vs infantry, Rockets apply area damage, Lasers have increased range and Railguns jump to nearby units.

Also, Commander abilities add alot to gameplay (a SC2 comparison would be hero powers, but they are only usable when you have a hero and only with hero in range). Meridian's 'Commander' abilities are usable anytime and anywhere on the map not affected by fog of war. These powers do come at a cost in the form of an regenerative energy bar and vary from Direct Damage to Healing to Increased build/production rates. These abilities are trained with points you acquire when you level up.

No Multiplayer (yet at least), some pathing issues and at times questionable voice acting are the only minor concerns with this title.

NOTE: This game was for the most part made by ONE MAN in 2 years. Damn impressive.

I really, really wanted to like this game. I just can't, though.

I guess the reason for a larger team instead of one person is to point out little helpful things like... "Don't you think it's really annoying that units will just charge the whole way accross the screen to fight something?"

And... "I understand the medic scouts are fast... but it's just aggravating that they will always run to the front of the battle." In fact, that's most of this game... could have just called it formation commander. Most of it just involves trying to keep healing units from being in the front.

As for the campaign... it's tedious. It's extremely simple with hard parts that shouldn't be hard at all. At one level you're left with a tower defence portion. This killed the entire game for me. There's not enough of a story to bother spending the time it would take to beat it. You can't even adjust the difficulty... there simply isn't an adjustment. Anyways... at about level 20(of the TD mini game) I just gave up. Positioning units to protect from air attack... and then they just run off all willy nilly.

Hey, and in this part... you can't control them... No hold position function.

Seriously... I wanted to love this game... I wanted to so bad. I just can't. It looks pretty, but the mechanics are horrible.

Прекрасная игра, сильно напоминающая серию Command & Conquer, но при этом сохраняющая свою уникальность. Игра на данной стадии уже стабильна, и за все время игры не было ни одного вылета (что редкость для проектов в Раннем Доступе).
Игру разрабатывает фактически один человек, поэтому в игре пока отсутсвует мультиплеер (ждем с нетерпением).Не пожалел денег, потраченных на эту игру.

P.S. Русский язык появится в игре очень скоро (ориентировочно 12.04.2014-16.04.2014)

Meridian: New World, läuft erstuanlich solide für ein Early Access Spiel, und fühlt sich an wie ein RTS alter Schule, macht richtig Spass das Ding. Die Grafik kann sich wirklich sehen lassen und auch die Soundeffekte wissen zu überzeugen.
Steuerungsmäßig ist alles wie gewohnt nur noch so ein paar Komfortfunktionen fehlen, wie etwa dass deine ausgewählten Einheiten auch auf der Mini-Map zu sehen sind in dem die Einheitenpunkte auf der Map durch eine andere Farbe hervorgehben sind. Ansonsten macht es richtig Spass die ersten paar Missionen die es schon gibt zu spielen und der geschicht zu folgen, welche im Ansatz recht interessant klingt.
Bald werde ich ein paar Gefechte spielen mal sehen was die KI drauf hat ;)

Let me start by saying, I'm not a fan of "Early Access" games. This "game" is the exact reason why. I just finished the campaign mode, which consisted of about 1/10th of what i imagine the complete game will be (like 3 maps). I labeled it as "recommended", because it is truly a very-well put together RTS. It's beautiful, plays extremely well, and a solid buy at $15, that is, it will be when it is COMPLETE. The problem with early access games, is that they are often abandoned or updates are severely delayed. I hope that's not the case with Meridian. I suggested this game, because you can play Skirmish and have fun with it, but I'd recommend waiting until the game is complete.

Edit: Changed to "not' recommended. Very disappointing to not see them ever really complete the game, and then abandon any idea of ever updating it while just focusing another money-grab sequel.

如果你和我一样也是看了截图觉得“天啊终于有人要为RTS做点什么了”而打算买这游戏的话，我的建议是先打住。这不意味着这游戏LOW到只需去下个种子玩完就删，但它确实不值得你去掏钱，至少在开发的这个阶段。
正如你要夸一个长得有点木讷的姑娘长相时会用“传统”这词，我们得说这游戏是一个相当old school的RTS，老掉牙的剧情，没有实时演算不说做得还不咋样的CG，让人怀疑现在是不是刚进入21世纪的UI设计。制作团队果然是一批死忠老家伙，估计前几个月也我一样大骂EA砍了将军2。单位的设定上也看不出什么特色，平平而已。
游戏运行中的诸如AI和画面问题非常多，大家可以看看鬼子们的评论，好评差评里全都是，这里就不多重复了。
主要谈谈本游戏的一大卖点，单位的搭载自定义化。所有的载具平台共享所有的可搭载武器（没有步兵）。这可算个双刃剑，它确实提高了可玩性的同时产生了一大把待解决的问题。你会花大量时间在研究各种高低搭配打造各种不同的组合上，这十分有趣。但与此同时，你就没有太多单位种类供你选择了，虽然我们可以说这也留下了巨大的未来发展空间。战斗时，精心打造的混搭大军由于没有UI显示变得杂乱不堪，更多时候你只能通过弹道来判断这只奇美拉是装备了激光还是机关炮。企图从外形上分辨出两张不同搭配同一类单位是非常困难的，这也是游戏的另一个问题，视角不能拉近（难道为了防止被玩家发现他们在模型制作上的瑕疵？）。以上问题可以通过复杂的编队系统实现控制的差异化，星际玩家都很擅长，但这更让人难以接受了不是吗，这是2014年啊，不是2000年。谢天谢地的是因此产生的单位平衡还是可以接受的，针对性武器伤害双倍这个简单的计算方法依然永不过时，但也导致了一个问题是，步兵的显得十分多余，在对面一大堆装甲兄贵面前，只有一杆默认对载具不强力的武器，我要它作甚。另外一个不能换装的单位是轰炸机，这就更是个笑话了，如果有了可以从远距离用电浆炮对地攻击的战斗机，我要它作甚（笑）。看了其他评论鬼子们都对这个自定义载具思路作了好评，我想怕是他们都没玩过铁甲风暴而已吧。
总言之，如果你们能看这个，现在暂时不要急着买买买，静观其变，我对它的发展还是有一些信心的，大家多期待，少剁手

This game is a great deal of fun, however in its current state the game crashes often and randomly.The game is still in its early stages and id expect the crash issue to soon be corrected. I believe that the developer has captured the core of what an rts should be. For the cost i say give it a shot and enjoy.

Für ein Early Access Game ist es wirklich top...Sound, Atmo, Grafik, Gameplay...läuft schon alles ziemlich super bzw ist super umgesetzt. Missionen sind abwechslungsreich..bis jetzt...Gefechtsmodus...die KI hat es in sich...Allein kann man nicht gegen Normal KI gewinnen...
Freue mich auf weitere News und Content zum Game..
Wer CNC und Strarcraft liebt..der wird begeistert sein.

My goodness, this is an awful game.

I see what they are trying to do, I really do. Meridian: New World is trying to be a throwback to the good old days of Westwood and Command and Conquer, and has many good ideas along the way, but it fails on too many levels to be anything but a waste of money. Poor controls, optimization, visuals, voice acting, and a general feeling of shabbiness ruin what may have, at one time, had the potential for an interesting experience.

There is the germ of good ideas here; you can customize the loadouts of individual units upon construction, which is always neat, and the story is attempting to be that rarest of beasts, a character-driven RTS. You, the player, have a branching tech tree that allows you to perfom actions like healing individual units, disable enemy vehicles, that sort of thing. The problem is, like so many games of a more indie persuasion, the good ideas fail to live up to their potential.

The customizable loadouts are a good idea, but it's done when you start building your units, meaning that by the time it's done, you may have wanted something different...but too bad! You'll need to build a new one. Compare Dawn of War, which had a fantastic loadout system.
The story is uninteresting, poorly translated into english, and with pretty awful voice acting. Normally I wouldn't mind this, but they are clearly trying to use branching, bioware style conversation trees and characterization to drive the plot. Bad voice acting undermines this goal.
The controls are slow and stiff, with painfully snail-like camera panning, and the ugly, impractical UI doesn't help. In a good RTS, your units feel alive, and responsive, and you are able to control them with precision and skill. Here, I feel lucky when they are even able to move where I want them to go. And if I wanted to change the controls to fit my needs, I have exactly two options to customize controls; mouse sensitivity and a toggle for "camera panning," a mysterious button with no discenerable effect on gameplay.

The players ability tree works well though. Kudos for that, though it was at first a little unclear how the energy bar that powers your abilities works. Unfortunately, there is only one faction (something the original Command and Conquer was able to overcome), and so the tech tree is the only source of variety you're going to get.

Moving on, the game is ugly an poorly optimized. It chugged more than games that look far better than this does, and crashes frequently. I know this is part of the early access package, but you have to keep it together if you want players to stick with it until the final release.

Finally, on a less easily described note, the game just feels...shabby. Other early access games have been able to have a feeling of beauty and vibrancy from the very beginning, but this game feels broken on a more fundamental level.

Taken as a whole, Meridian: New World is, quite, quite awful. It is the product of one man's vision, and where for some games that means a new experience, here it is clearly the work of someone in way over their head, trying to match the work of those who are far more skilled. It would take a truly gargantuan effort to make this game worth playing at its final release date, and I just can't see it happening. Take this game as an example of Steam's famously lax quality control. Or better still, don't take the game, and go play your favorite good RTS instead.

Meridian: New World is made by one developed, one! and after play the game for some time, the level of quality the game has to offer for the price it's asking is just amazing, the look and feel of the game, and the sound track is just great, it even has a high quality single player campaign with full of voiced characters. I'm not that into and not that good at RTS games, but a know a good one when i play one.
