One of the Greatest games ever made sadly yet again no longer available for purchase. I've replayed this game along with the Batman Arkham games almost every single year on 360 and now on PC.
Must buy for Marvel fans, especially if you can get a code of this delisted game

One of my favorite games from my childhood! It introduced me to the Marvel universe and is for sure one of the reasons why I love super heroes so much. It's sad that you can't buy this game anymore but hopefully that will change in the future!

One of the best Marvel games, well, [b]BEST[/b] game in general of all time in my opinion. The story itself is full of twist and turns, the characters are all unique with their abilities and voice lines, and the game play is fun and always changing up certain aspects to never feel boring or repetitive. I hope that this game does get re-released and back on Steam, Microsoft, and the PlayStation stores. This game deserves so much praise and deserves to be played by the new generation of gamers looking to find a great RPG/action game.
The true Avengers game, if we could get a remaster of these games that would be epic.
This game is fun, front to back. Action RPGs have been a favorite of mine for quite some time and this is a good one. Granted, this version has bugs and issues, uses a completely different rendering engine compared to the original PS2/Xbox version but it's all still there plus some more.
If this were ever to go back on sale again, I would recommend it.
Really do hope that they sort out this licensing issue and relist these games. Was fortunate enough to pick them up while they were available and wish more people could enjoy them. Controls are ok overall, small hitches here and there but for what it is the game is quite enjoyable.

There's something magical about pre-MCU Marvel games. If you're a comic fan and have never tried this game...you're severely missing out. Cannot recommend enough. Yes, the port is pretty terrible, and getting a controller to work is a nightmare (I gave up and stuck to mouse and keyboard), but as a diehard comic reader i still couldn't get enough. All of the issues are easy enough to overlook if you're like me and don't mind wonky controls while attempting to 100% it.
I have yet to complete this port, and I am not convinced that doing so is necessary. Every iteration of Ultimate Alliance (UA) has been plagued by significant issues. I fondly recall criticisms that UA3 did not feel like a true Ultimate Alliance game, though, in retrospect, the series itself never fully embodied the vision of what an Ultimate Alliance experience should have been. This is not solely a critique of the roster depth or gameplay mechanics, both of which are serviceable but ultimately forgettable. To me, Ultimate Alliance has always represented an unrealized dream. Even today, I am amazed that we received scattered, low-effort projects over the years (mostly the movie videogames that could only serve as bread crumbles), with nothing approaching the passion and depth seen in Insomniac's Spider-Man or the recent resurgence of Marvel games like Rivals. That said, we got an atrocious Avengers game out of nowhere in the middle of everything but fine.
What I truly hope for is a definitive UA (or Omega, for that matter) with an ever-expanding roster, enhanced replayability, and a level of polish that the series has yet to achieve. However, what we have been given so far are the UA games and Omega, which allowed players to control multiple characters across various Marvel realms.
Reviewing a nearly 20-year-old game may not hold much value, but I will briefly summarize my thoughts: this game would not be the financial success many assume it would be. In other words, no, it won't be a money printer. Releasing it on modern storefronts without a proper remaster—or better yet, a remake—would render it virtually worthless. AGAIN. What the series truly needs is a reboot. While the games have gained notoriety among collectors, let us be honest: this port is severely lacking. The button mapping is poorly implemented, some indicators are outright incorrect, and the options menu is almost nonexistent. The resolution is laughable, even for a 2016 release. It's just irredeemable ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. My desire to own the game legitimately on a digital platform is one thing; Activision’s disregard for its customers is another. This is precisely why I initially skipped purchasing the game at 20 bucks, only to pay around 250 later (and yes, Amazon’s purchasing issues were another frustrating ordeal, let's just skip that part). If you are in the same boots, what's else there is to say?
Despite the port’s shortcomings, I first encountered the game when I acquired a 360, which was arguably the best platform for it. Like many others, it holds a nostalgic place in my childhood memories, allowing me to play as some of Marvel’s most iconic and decorated heroes (thinking the cover included Elektra back then is wild). This version, being an Xbox 360 port, includes additional characters such as Nightcrawler, who introduces minor nevertheless enjoyable gameplay elements, like the ability to skip certain areas and that comes handy if you are all alone. That's another issue with the game which I both like and dislike. Checkpoints can be scarce and levels are usually quite short so it's not exactly a matter of replaying the whole level but it's a matter of replaying the whole level all alone if you can't revive your team and the character you have cannot cheese the boss. There's some challange to it but it lacks. Sure loading a previous save is valid and it's the most 2006 thing ever. Meta-gaming to overcome the game's shortsightedness. Though I still must admit I like the idea of rotating the roster so your teammates can rest (usually about 3 to 5 mins, not a big deal either). But yeah, it's underutilized like everything else.
On paper, features like team-up bonuses sound appealing, but they are ultimately underdeveloped. The level design is lackluster and deteriorates with each subsequent installment. Some sections, such as Murderworld, which I enjoyed as a child, now feel corny af. Atlantis, in particular, can be nerve breaking due to the movement. The environments, whether set in the Helicarrier, Asgard, or Doom’s castle, are reduced to generic corridors that fail to capture the grandeur of their settings.
The core gameplay loop is a simplistic beat-’em-up, even by 2006 standards. Boss fights often feel cheap and gimmicky (looking at that piece of fk Mysterio). Mysterio is such an awfully designed boss fight who could wipe out your team because his clones' repeated animations cycles stunlocks (if that's the word for it) you and breaking out of it could be real tough and finnicky. No matter what I tried, I couldn't beat him with X-Men and then had to switch my team to survive the fight with AoE attacks and some good old tanking. I'd buy it if it was that strategical but it really wasn't. Leveling up is another option but in moment to moment action you barely think about leveling up your stats or changing your comp because it just doesn't feel right that way. I always see more value in having a taste of the characters and mess around with the rotating rosters but it sometimes bricks your progression and prove harder than it needs to be. I'll say it's just a balance issue but idk, I never paid too much attention to it when I was younger and thought the game could be tough as nuts but nope, it's just cluelessness of me and the game lacks once again. There are lots to mention about both enemy and your roster's animation cycles and how they are actualized.
To label this game as an action RPG is an overstatement & overselling the game at best. While characters have unique abilities—such as Moon Knight’s ankhs and batons or Johnny Storm’s flame-based attacks—these actions are bound to skills. Energy-based skills feel bland that kills all the fluidness alone, and character customization is woefully limited. It could have been enermously better if characters could alternate between ranged and melee and/or between their personas (Johnny Storm/Human Torch) with ease and more intuitively and the skills were actually being impactful. Each character has four alternate outfits, but beyond that, there is little meaningful progression. Upgrades are spread throughout the levels you'll find some here and there along unlockable figures which would let you unlock Black Panther and Daredevil, and players can use in-game currency to enhance stats, but these systems are ultimately shallow and uninspired. You don't really have an impact on the narrative either.
The game is mindless fun, but this is largely due to the lack of options across the brand and you want to have a taste of the Marvel flavour. In an ideal world, we would see a rebooted Ultimate Alliance with more distinctive level design that's built up on some actual character, an even more diverse roster, and deeper RPG elements, including meaningful character customization and a compelling narrative. However, I remain skeptical that such a vision will ever come to fruition. I'll daresay Midnight Suns (though I am yet to play it) was a bold attempt and probably is better than UA ever was but that's not 'it' either. At least not to me given the genre. I always thought X-Men Legends were the better ones but now I have my suspicions.
ps: This port deserves a negative but for the sake of everything else including a nonsensical nostalgia I just can't.
This is one of my favorite childhood games, if not my favorite game, period. I've poured countless hours into this since I was young, and it taught me so much about the vast Marvel mythos. While I do wish there were more playable characters, the selection they chose is a great gallery of the many different aspects of the Marvel Universe. The gameplay can be a bit clunky at times, and the audio mixing is kinda an issue in some scenes, as well as janky teammate AI at times, I still highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a great single player/co-op dungeon crawling action RPG with a Marvel twist. 8/10

First hour review after stumbling upon a key for this game for cheap (sixty bucks is insane)
the controls for both keyboard and mouse/controller are actually buffalo ♥♥♥♥ im not even joking. I had to set up DS4Windows and HidHide for what i'd consider clean controls. I am really upset that this game won't get a proper remaster because these games are fun and it just feels a little rushed here. but at least i can say its the ultimate alliance I remember.

It's awesome this has come back, but wow this port might be one of the worst. Non functional menus and graphics options, forcing users to edit a text file. Controller will not work right away, have to download a 3rd party program and set it up exactly how a guide tells you too. When running, it does looks nice and stays locked at 120fps. But thats another issue, game won't run above 120fps. Love the game but wow lol

I really liked the game back then, now I can see some flaws regarding the allies AI and the fact that there is a ton of missable content that you can't get since there is no way to replay the missions
Anyway, this PC version has almost every dlc character ,except those exclusive from portable consoles like black widow or Marvell, but you have all xbox exclusives like NightCrawler, Moon Knight, etc ,and you don't need to install any mod.
To be able to play with a controller, you'll probably need to install a comunity layout, I did it and it works like a charm
Still one of my all time favorites. MUA1 was one of the very first games I got with the Xbox 360 back in 2007, and it's only gotten better with age. Literally. Thanks to Steam Input, it's easy to fix the controller issues that plagued this port back when Activision dropped it, and now it runs like a charm. Don't know how much of that is pure luck, but I can't complain.
Growing up, Ultimate Alliance was my gateway to the greater Marvel universe, outside of Spider-Man, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four. I still remember scrolling through my old Marvel encyclopedia, seeing if I could track down all the lip service this game pays to the comics. All of these characters still mean a lot to me. And you know what, no matter how much modern perceptions about this universe are affected thanks to the MCU and other oversaturated nonsense, I'm still going to hold this game as the Marvel I choose to remember above all else. Accept no substitutes. 'nuff said
Controller mapping is not correct and when I try to use a custom map, the controller flat out will not work. I went to YouTube and there seems to be some work arounds but that shouldnt be necessary for a game on Steam! Says I have played for 4 hours and I'm unsure how as I have not done anything in game due to the lack of actual controller support. If they patch this, I will gladly change my review.

If you were lucky enough to grab this game and its sequel before they were delisted on steam back in 2018 , it runs well on steam deck so far getting a constant 60fps. Hopefully you can find a steam key for a somewhat decent price, Very fun marvel game.

If I were writing the review in 2006, which was made, it would probably be negative because of bugs and balance 2016 has not improved anything, even the reverse. The minigame of the second part of the level with the clowns who invented to go to dormamo the hell.
But now, after decades of this crap they call Marval, I would write positive because this game has more Real Marval than everything put together in the last decade of stupidity that doesn't stop.

Terrible remaster. If you want to play this, I recommend getting the original 2006 release (which is abandonware now) off the internet archive. It looks better and has proper mod support.
One of the best Marvel games of all time. More of a blast with friends in local co-op than solo though. Packed with missions, enemies, plenty of different heroes to use which all have unique moves & specials. One of its tragedies is the fact that it's completely gone from digital existence. The Steam key for both games is around $1,500 which you can buy an entire PC with. Hopefully one day it will be back.

This is how you make a marvel game period. Its part of my childhood and one of the last remaining pieces of good marvel content out there.
This was never graphically impressive but as far as beat'em ups go, there aren't many with so much variety across the many characters. A great romp through a stock Marvel story. If you want a crash course in Marvel there aren't many better options, not even in it's sequels.
The game has an issue with the controllers turning it unplayable. It is a shame that it was never fixed. Total trash!
I have this on Xbox 360, and it's by far better on the 360. The controls just straight up don't work. It's sad because this is my favorite game, and I was excited to see it on here. I really tried to play and like it, but I can't.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance is an amazing game, but over time, it suffers from highly repetitive and simple gameplay. The hardest difficulty isn't that challenging either and any attempt from developers to bring some strategy into gameplay (such as having enemies that can only be damaged by one specific move) just slows the combat, so it is better to just run past those enemies. I also found upgrading characters to be quite confusing. Luckily, the rich character roster, satisfying attacks, nice variety of different locations and unlockable skins brought me tons of joy. It is a shame you can no longer buy it on Steam...

O jogo não é novo, lançou ainda na época do xbox 360, e tem uma jogabilidade que muitos podem considerar meio travada. É um jogo com visão isométrica com elementos de RPG, como evolução de habilidades dos personagens, com uma jogabilidade puxada pra algo entre um Beat'em Up e Hack and Slash. Tem uma lista gigante de personagens jogáveis e é indispensável pra quem é fã da Marvel.
A história é bem divertida, vc enfrenta vários vilões clássicos dos quadrinhos, e jogando em multiplayer vc pode interagir com seu parceiro pra realizar super golpes especiais com poderes combinados dos dois personagens.
Respeito as opiniões negativas, mas acho um jogo realmente incrível, tá na lista dos meus preferidos!
It came with all of the DLC that was only available for a limited time unless you had the Gold Edition. This ♥♥♥♥ was cool. Make the 3rd one available on other platforms Nintendo
A (mostly) solid rerelease of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. The DLC characters from the Gold Edition for XBOX 360 are here which makes this a definitive version, if only the online worked properly. If you're just by yourself playing this then its a really solid port, if youre looking to play with friends I wouldn't suggest this version and recommend the 2006 PC port instead.

I played this niche game when I was younger and was absolutely captivated by it, I never forgot my experience in this game which I consider an absolute classic to my past alongside that of Miner Dig Deep, Halo or even Spore.
While I am not necessarily a big Marvel or DC (Superhero media) fan by any means I am still quite fond of this game and the adventure that it holds because of the bias of nostalgia I hold for this game, which acts as a sort of glue for holding together my experience which is also comprised of my love for both the adventurous obscure sort of lost-feeling the atmosphere of the level design has, and the squad game-play alongside it's mechanics are what I adorn this game for. Which are what I will 100% recommend to anyone who also enjoys such in a game, ESPECIALLY if said person(s) are into Superhero media. Moreover this game was made moreso in a time when games were made to be good, and not made to be good enough for the sake of profit which is seen quite commonly today.
Now I only discovered that this game was on Steam in the mid-decade sometime and I wanted it as a wishlist priority, though, by the time I got around to buying it, it was too late as it was pulled from the Steam Store. I was disappointed though a bit relieved seeing as it still existed for purchase on Steam Key selling websites though at a very large price.
Not too long ago today I have decided to purchase this game out of a resurgence of nostalgia from one of these Steam Key websites for 152$... Now that is obviously a lot, though given my love for this game and my experience with it, it was 100% absolutely worth every dollar of it. The game is EXACTLY as I remember it in the glory days on console.
The ONE and ONLY problem I had with this game was the controller support which I fixed (really easily I might add) with 'XinputPlus' and then made a guide on to help anyone in the future who has this problem as I did.
I have never played Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 though now I finally can and with DLCs included! I only wish that the developers would re-add this game to Steam and fix controller support!!!

Good game once you figure out how to configure the controls, as the build in menu don't work... (The easy answer is to use XInput Plus. Google "Xinput Plus" together with "Ultimate Alliance" for details)

Mirando en retrospectiva no podemos dejar de reconocer que este videojuego tenía mucho que ofrecer. Tal vez le faltara pulir un poco más sus mecánicas o la modalidad de cooperativo requiriera del impulso de algún server online para alentar la actividad de toda la comunidad, pero lo cierto es que pese a sus falencias jugarlo hoy todavía se siente fresco.
Entre sus ideas podemos recoger la de poner un enorme plantel superheroico para el jugador y potenciar esa propuesta con la de mejorar sus habilidades y equipamiento al mejor estilo RPG con acción en tiempo real. El modelo, no nos engañemos fue X-MEN LEGENDS, pero sobre todo X-MEN LEGENDS II: RISE OF APOCALYPSE. Sin embargo, en estas entregas la fórmula todavía estaba algo inmadura y había cosas que no terminaban de calzar en el resultado final, porque los mutantes serán grandiosos pero, en ese momento, no se podían calzar a cuestas todo el peso de MARVEL.
Y creo que, justamente, es a través de la búsqueda de ese paso que le había faltado a sus referentes donde la idea de MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE sí cierra. ¿Por qué? La respuesta es simple: estamos frente a un crossover de proporciones épicas; y hasta la salida de este videojuego, exceptuando en el terreno de la lucha, no se había logrado algo así.
