This game really hasn't changed much since it came out, which is great for the nostalgia but bad for newcomers. I think if they could keep doing more events, or add some trophies this might make the game worth playing on Steam. Otherwise this game is perfectly fine on mobile.

I've been playing Marvel Contest of Champions for years now, and I can confidently say it's the best Marvel game on mobile. The roster of characters is genuinely impressive — each one feels unique and you'll have a blast leveling them up, pulling new champions, and building out your collection.

The progression system keeps you hooked, whether you're grinding through quest storylines, exploring Alliance content, or just chasing that next big champion pull. The story quests in particular do a solid job of weaving Marvel lore into the gameplay, which is a nice touch for any Marvel fan.

That said, it's not without its flaws. As a free-to-play player, the grind can get pretty steep at times — certain content feels heavily gated behind resources that take forever to accumulate. It can test your patience if you're not willing to spend.

But overall? It's a fun, well-built mobile game that has clearly stood the test of time. If you're a Marvel fan looking for a game you can sink hundreds of hours into, MCOC is absolutely worth picking up.

It's pretty good.... as good as the mobile version. That's not necessarily a bad thing. It's just that I expected this to be way different now that it's available on PC. This would be like if the PC and console versions of Injustice are just the same as the mobile version. Not bad but could've been more.

This was quite possibly the best game i played over the last decade except maybe OG warzone. Sadly with the ascension stuff i'm done. There is just no realistic reason to keep playing outside of addiction. I much rather have 8 stars than what going on now. The hard counter meta to where you are nothing if you don't have the new champs. The grind never ever ends. This is a game that went from manageable to a full time job over the last 5-6 years. I loved this game and its one of the few mobile games that you could bring your actual skill and not have to rely on rng to win anything. MCOC has lost her way and i can no longer continue with the chaos and obsession requirement she has developed. Sad day.

This is basically copycat of Injustice and Mortal Kombat. I played those games on mobile for some time, and never could like them, despite of the fact that I like comic-book games and fighting games in general. But these types of games always felt monotonous and extremely grindy (or P2W, let's say). If this was something more like TEKKEN, SF, and etc., then it could be a way better game, in my opinion.

Out of Future Fight and Strike Force, this is definitely better, characters aren't that hard to get compared to SF where if you want a specific character that's only running for a limited time then good luck because you don't have long to obtain them.

Contest of Champions however feels better than that and although I'm not a fan of energy consuming games, I enjoy the fighting aspect. I also recommend throwing the game on auto-play if you ever get the quests to parry as it's more likely to successfully do one for you if you, like me, find it hard to parry.

I’ve put a lot of time into Marvel Contest of Champions, and for a mobile fighting game it’s honestly one of the better ones out there. The roster is massive and constantly growing, which means there’s always a new Marvel character to unlock, upgrade, or master. The combat is simple on the surface, with light attacks, heavy attacks, blocks, and specials, but it actually has a surprising amount of depth once you start learning champion abilities, timing, and synergies. Some fights feel more like strategy puzzles than button-mashing. Where the game really shines is the presentation. The character models, animations, and special attacks look great, and it does a solid job of making each hero or villain feel unique. When you trigger a big special move from someone like Spider-Man, Magneto, or Doctor Doom, it actually feels satisfying. That said, the game can get repetitive over time. A lot of the long term grind revolves around collecting resources, upgrading champions, and repeating similar fights to progress. Like many mobile games, progression eventually slows unless you’re willing to put in serious time (or spend money).
Still, if you’re a Marvel fan and enjoy fighting games, there’s a lot to like here. It’s easy to jump into for a quick match, but it also has enough depth to keep you invested for a long time. Bottom line:
A polished Marvel fighter with a huge roster and satisfying combat, even if the grind eventually starts to show.

I was expecting something like Mortal Kombat or Streetfighter, but alas. This mobile game is a pay-to-play dump. You fight the same way (block, left, and punch 4 times—that's how every fight goes), then you upgrade your hero, and so on. The monotony quickly became tiresome.

So I'm gonna frame this review from the perspective on it being a f2p mobile gatcha game.

First let's address p2w. Yes it exists, but where? In high tier alliance war and high tier battlegrounds. It's content you never need to touch. There is plenty of fun story content and progression for f2p. There are no ads. And as far as gachas go this is probably the most f2p friendly gatcha I've ever seen.

If you get stuck in story content it is 100% a skill issue. There are a lot of characters with unique abilities that counter each other and the special "nodes" that empower your opponents.

So the core of the game is a fun 2d sideswipe tekken/mortal kombat/street fighter game where you face ai. It's well done.

The energy system can get annoying, but it only kicks in late game. Early game just by pressing story you get xp, levelling refreshes all your energy and progressing gives plenty of energy refills and revives on top. If you press on you won't run out of energy refills until act 9, where you are at the highest progression title in the game basically.

The only issue is how in order to make the game more approachable they ruined the game balance, acts 1-5 are too easy as you out level everything massively so you won't learn the mechanics, so act 6 hits you like a brick wall.

It is monetised out of the wazoo, and if you are f2p you want to avoid spending units as much as possible. But if you take your time to learn the fights, the special attacks etc, the game is very skill based and having appropriately ranked characters makes it much more engaging.

Hi. I mostly play on moblie and when I started playing PC version on my handheld there is still a lack of getting the full experience.

The animation attacks may not show compared to the mobile game such as Karoline Dean's sun-and-specials-blast or Doctor Strange's Special 3 (SP3) magic portal sparks. If your someone whose looking for a fighting game and are a big Marvel fan this game is for you with more then 250+ champions (with different combo style) part of the marvel universe this is for you. The contest is still changing, with new game modes being added&tested.

On handheld there is no overheating (thankful) but response time is a bit slow or not responding to your liking, depending on how you set up your controls. I'm classified as a causal Summoner (Summoner is what we call the person battling in the Battlerealm (Marvel Contest of Champions)), I'm not a person who enjoys doing grinding activity such Arena for units (if you join will found out - are the units important yes for big sells events) that just me.

Its not for the causal player anymore. Let start there. It used to be for all forms of gamer/players. Now its the game is going in a new focus direction, I should say. The game mainly focusing towards endgame, everest and grinding aspects players.The game is still fun depending on who you and what your taste of fighting game is.

It doesn't have PVP but it does have something similar to cards... Say you have 3 attacks and 3 defenders same has your oppenent. You place 1 attack and 1 defender in rounds, best of 2/3. YOU battle the opponent's selected defender with your selected attacker while he fights your selected defender with their selected attacker. That's Battleground (the name of the mode).

Why I'm saying its not for a causal player. The reason is the game create or gave you FOMO (fear of missing out). Causal player in my view is a player who doesn't feel like the need to login in everyday or play everyday but sometimes when they need an escape from reality, or just want to jump in and play their favorite characters.

Monthly Event Quest (EQ) whiles the hotspot for the causal player. The content was always going to refresh, give new story and practice fighting the 2 or 1 new champion. It also, was a place to destress (how you ask? - third special attack was deactivated) in lower level of EQ where you didn't have worry about. (SP3 is an unblockable attack unless you protection {passive/buff that reduce the incoming damage from the attack}.

EQ isn't the only hotspot but also Back Issue Quest (BQ). BQ is close to the old EQ but two levels; a higher difficult and lower difficult. That is being removed in April 2026.
