There is nothing wrong with this but given the Remastered version exists you should probably go for that. In any case this is a good game.

It's a great starting point to other games by the same developer. Unlike in Bronze Age, you actually have a bit more balance, even though the game still tries its best to crush you like an insect and turn your ruling into dust. Same goes for some of the choices, you don't really get much replayability in this case, since you do have to go through ''canon events'' in a planned way, like accepting Christianity, so you cannot just stay pagan or do anything else, which is a bit disappointing. But it's still a good game, give it a chance.

This game is really just childhood memories. I don't know if i would have liked it now if I hadn't played it so much when I was younger, but maybe. Worth a shot if you have a couple hours to kill, but I would personally recommend getting the mobile version unless you have a Steam Deck or something. It's very portable and great for long car rides, planes, etc.
It is literally impossible to get a victory playing as Athens. I thought may have just been me but chatgpt confirms that it cannot be done and recommends alternatives. The achievement that is possible to attain for Greek unification is not explained AT ALL in the game. Had to go to chatgpt to see the hidden conditions that must be met. The amount of gold, culture and army to meet objectives is notpossible to accumulate.

Well...marble Age its a short game with a bit of "replayability". Its really a short game lasting about 2 or maybe 3 hours at much if you take it really slow, but hey for the price and historical background its a nice and cozy game, the music is a bit catchy and there are many paths of the tech tree.

Not a bad game. if you like basic spreadsheet like 'city builders' this is a enjoyable one. My biggest complaint, and this has more I think to do with changing times from ten years ago, is the sort of callous wording on things like 'take slaves, and persecute the Christians'
I stop playing when I 'lost' a challenge due to there was no 'middle ground' in regards to the Christianity. I understand that it's trying to show what 'being a rule in the years of 3000 BC to 1000 AD, but some things could have been worded better.
Oh and the sliders is a pain wish there was a way of typing in your amounts. Like i want exactly 250 men out of 2,000 and your going to spend 10 minutes sliding it back and forth to find that sweet spot.
I have also try and stop playing this about 4 times. so that nearly 8 hours of play is 1 game that was at the halfway point. and 3 others at unknowing stopping points. but I got about half way in a little over 2 hours. So the game could probably be beat in about 4 to 5 hours.
Short and while it lasted, its fun and make you be thinking a bit. Yet at the end of the day, there is not much strategy to think about.
This game was once in browser flash, and the music is cute.

Marble Age это уже база, это знать надо, по факту одна из легендарных исторических стратегий. Это одна из первых игр, а если быть точнее ровно третья игра, после пятой цивилизации и Гарриса, которую я купил на свой аккаунт в далеком 2015 году, когда она только вышла. Но удалось мне ее пройти на 100 процентов достижений только спустя 10 лет в 2025 году. Игра гениальна, да во многих отношениях она выглядит примитивно, но и цена у нее соответствующая. Реализация реальных исторических событий, да и достижения интересные. Вообщем однозначно могу рекомендовать к ознакомлению.

Довольно легкая, но в тоже время увлекательная стратегия, в которой играя за Спарту (или за Афин, это как вы сами пожелаете) должны пронести свое государство через перечень событий, например пережить Юстиниановую Чуму или отразить атаку Гуннов. Как итог, игра может затянуть на несколько часов, подарив при этом массу эмоций

Al principio me parecio repetitivo, y como que no le encontraba el "por que"... estaba trabado en una partida. Con lo aprendido decidi empezar otra. Y ahi fue como por un tubo... me sigue pareciendo repetitivo, solo lo termine con atenas en dificultad normal... lo recomiendo si te gustan los juegos "simples" de estrategia por puntos, no llega a ser un civilization, pero mas o menos por ahi anda. Solo lo recomiendo con ese fin. A mi me alcanzo con la campaña que hice, y no lo volvere a jugar... no es mal juego, solo que no es mi tipo... por eso le voy a dar positivo, pero yo hasta aqui llegue mijo xD

civをめちゃくちゃシンプルにしたようなゲーム。お値段相応です。
HEXがないのでユニットを移動させて探索させるというようなこともなく、基本的にメインでやることはどの施設にどれだけ人員を割り当てるかのスライダー調整。ポイントが貯まったら技術ツリーを取得し、建設しての繰り返し。あとは外交。civやったことあるならすんなり遊べるかと。
1ゲームが短いので気軽に遊べるのがいいです。スマホにありそうな感じのゲームで、実際調べてみたらスマホにもあるゲームでした。ただ、出来は悪くないけどボリュームを考えるとセール時に買うのがおすすめ。ちなみに今はリマスターが出ているっぽい。追加要素があるのかわからないですが、いま買うならそっちがいいのかも？
日本語には対応していませんがPCOTなどの翻訳ツールがあるなら普通に遊べます。なくても基本的にアイコンなので見ればなんとなくわかります。

I am 32 years old.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.

Marble Age is really fun game, but didn't seem to have much replay value for me (maybe i'll try Sparta next time). I initially didn't like the turn based aspect of city building but it grew on me. One weird thing is part of the game is managing your city, then the next phase is managing your empire. However you can beat the game before you even get to the empire stage, which seems strange. You can continue playing after you win the game, which is great but there's usually not much point.

Man, I am really sick and drained so let me just cut to the chase: Great game, well worth its price, a strong recommend on my part.

It´s a good game, I got the hang of it after a few playthroughs, I only dislike the fact that mortality rates by overpopulation get too high at one point and you can only get to 7 million population at most while you have a limit of 15 million or more.
This surprised me. I thought it would be a lot more "casual" than it was, but instead it's a relatively ruthless spreadsheet game with a lot of that "just one more turn" spice.
Sure, at it's heart it's a slider-tottin', continuous-growth semi-idle style game. But it's surprisingly hard and could almost be considered a puzzle game as there's very few legitimate strategy or build orders on medium or hard, you basically have to do everything perfectly correct in the exact sequence, and also have a rough idea of the future, if you want to even score at the end.
The visuals are charming enough, the sound is max volume and annoying.

Игра достаточно залипательная, но при высоком уровне сложности вариативность улетучивается - немного опоздал с конкретными действиями, начинай заново, так как не получишь бонусов, и вся игра пойдет наперекосяк. Наверное, кому-то будет интересно искать ту самую выигрышную стратегию. Но не мне.

While fun in the basics of what it is, the repetition gets old rather fast where nothing really moves beyond what you experience to begin with. If you like simple games with easy playing this is a good game, but if your looking for complicated strategy or survival games this isn't what your looking for.

There is a lot of charm here and the potential for a great little strategy game. There graphics are cute, UI is easy to catch on to and the concept of a micro grand strategy game appeals to me. It has a good amount of depth and some interesting diplomacy elements. Sadly, it is hindered by linear strategic gameplay if you want to beat all the challenges, the sliders are annoying late game, numbers scale too quickly and after the halfway point it loses most of its appeal as it starts to feel redundant. It's a pretty low price for the content and should be interesting enough for most casual strategy fans.
Side note: There is a [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/383740/Marble_Age_Remastered/]remastered version[/url] which might be worth the extra couple bucks.
- Game wants you to ally/conquer others but won't let you generate envoys/generals.
- Other nations generate soldiers faster than you and don't seem to have a cap unlike you do
- Even if you know the trials ahead of time you can't generate resources (Typically gold and soldiers) fast enough
- Failing a single trial slows your momentum and can snowball when the next ones show up

Fun and short puzzle/strategy game loosely about the Greek civilization and it's city-states. I've played it a fair amount over the last few years and I have finally gotten all the achievements in this version of the game, Clarus Victoria has made a brand new remaster of the game that I've also played a fair amount and I can confidently say it's just Marble Age but better. It's not only a new coat of paint on the game but more depth than this one and another city-state to play as. If you're curious about it it's a good price to play time ratio in my opinion, but if concerned it's always worth on a steam sale.

This suffers from the issue of losing because of a decision you made turns ago - you're already dead, you just don't know it yet. In that sense, it is simply masquerading as a strategy game. If you peel back the curtain it plays more like a puzzle game as amongst the myriad of options provided, there is actually a very narrow path to success. For some, this will lead to trial-and-error on repeat runs, and it's not the type of game where repeating runs is enjoyable.

this is the first strategy game that i actually really enjoy a lot, it has a simple layout, a decent tech tree, and a nice cartoonish style. i also like the option to either play as spartan or athens, really nice touch imo. this also serves as an nostalgia trip back to when i was in 6th grade playing this game whenever i got bored in class.
if you haven't played strategy games before, this is a good and basic beginner strategy game to play.

"Marble Age" - це стратегічна гра, розроблена компанією Clarus Victoria та випущена у 2015 році. Незважаючи на своє зображення на сторінці магазину Steam, гра не відповідає очікуванням.
Гра пропонує гравцям відтворити історію Греції, Риму або Троянської війни в ході свого розвитку. Однак, вона занадто проста та монотонна. Гравцям потрібно будувати міста, збирати ресурси та ведення битв, але немає ніяких захоплюючих елементів, які б збільшували ігровий досвід.
Окрім цього, гра має дуже обмежені можливості керування. Гравці не можуть вибрати рівень складності або змінити розмір карти. Також, гра має багато технічних проблем, таких як зависання, низька якість графіки та звуку.
Крім того, гра має платформерний стиль управління та ігрові механіки, які недостатньо розвинені та прості. Вона не пропонує гравцям нічого нового або цікавого в порівнянні з іншими стратегічними іграми, що є вже на ринку.

1 - An expansive universe.
2 - A complex game to devour free time.
3 - AA or AAA. Cannot compete with Civilization.
4 - Twitch or streamer appealing.
5 - A game made without soul.
[b]The good part:[/b]
At first this game is basically a table-top game, you get a resource system that leans on population and how you manage the workload on different buildings that gives specific bonuses in areas like: food, industry culture, military and gold generation. It's a system quite familiar to that of Civilization inspired games, and very easy to get a good grasp, using an output slider to adjust the amount of population that might work on any specific production. There is a technology tree synergistic to these buildings' development, having to unlock and upgrade them to get the full range of sliders and efficiencies. It's nothing out of this world but decent enough. The game's ultimate goal is to be savvy and prudent enough to handle such production sliders, trying to get the best proportion to face the challenges the campaign is throwing, which are quite interesting since they have a solid historical reason to exist.
There is also has a strong diplomacy engine, which is on par to bigger games and the campaign relies heavily on it being taken care of, because failing in doing so, means to have the Spartans or Knossos invading the settlement at the first chance. The system works using Envoys, Traders and Generals, each one allowing to Improve relations, start trading or straight invade actions with all the other Greek cities. It's a very functional aspect of the game that allows the player to tailor it by leaning into diplomacy per-se or aggression.
Events and challenges are a big part of the game. The little village may struggle to face the Dorians, the Persian Empire, Alexander the Great rise to power, Rome's expansion, Christianism and Islam spreading. It's very interesting and fun in this aspect, like the village could be doing great and sound, but then it's time to face the Persians in 5 turns. With no military developed it means to kick that slider up, but doing so may mean less culture, food or gold production. Or to risk the tech advance and get stall. Or having not enough production to upgrade the barracks, limiting the amount of new soldiers the village can produce. Suddenly the Persians arrived and turned the settlement into its sphere of influence. This is so cruel and gruesome, but it's the kind of reality an historical Greek village had to face on that event.
[b]The bad part.[/b]
Sadly, these events are indeed what drags this title down. They are scripted and meant to happen at a given turn without any external way to change it. Very hard coded with possibly just one way to face them properly, this limits the gamestyle completely since at times the margin of failure is on just within a couple turns and the most minimal slider adjustment or technology skip, may mean the player having no chances to success on the events. It also means there is no way to keep a small military and playing solely on diplomacy, because the invasions require the player to amass heavy armies.
Replayability in the game is just about trying to success on the two campaigns and there is nothing more to do. The scripted events alters the final score and it's an horrible look to finish a campaign having red marks like if it were a school assignment. Many other Civilization styled games handle this by allowing different victory conditions or goals the player can choose from, and of course this game is not a AAA nor even a AA title, but they made great choices on secondary elements that it's really sad something as important got ignored.
[b]In conclusion:[/b]
The game should have got a negative review, but it's a casual game that accomplishes that goal very well, it's fun and cheap, plus from micro-developer that has just gotten better with the years.
As much as I would love to recommend this to you I can't it's a total RNG fest. In my 20+ games maybe I've won three because of the random effects. It's not worth the money. Just play the flash version on an emulator.

Отличное развитие идей Bronze Age, больше механик, они глубже, ну и тут есть фуллскрин - это сразу +1 балл
Если ставить цель придраться - ежели за Афины у меня прошло все довольно гладко и всего за несколько попыток, то вот прохождение за Спарту было крайне болезненным, куча рестартов, и вообще оно ощущается крайне душным и даже нечестным
С другой стороны игра предупреждает о повышенной сложности, что впрочем не объясняет почему ВОЕННОЕ гос-во (привет энкаунтеры, где у противника войск в 10+ раз больше), в итоге сосет у более мирных и культурных Афин
А так, отличная игрушка на несколько часов, ушел смотреть ремастер

Boring game
This is a game I want to love, it seems pretty complete, but it's hard, really hard! Most of the time the game give us choices which aren't choices, and send you into a bunch a debuff. So you restart, retry, and you restart and retry, until you find this is a false choice, and you need to do what you don't want! And each time in the end of the game, you wonder if you need to do something or not, because you cannot have faith in the description of events. It's bording. As it's not in my native tongue, I pull my air sometimes to wonder about what I need to do. Until now I cannot finish the game and it's maddening. Too bad, because I love the music, the arts. It's cute! Really!

Finished a couple of runs. Basically a Civilization like-game, where you decide on the direction of your development by manipulating a selection of sliders. The core gameplay is easy to understand, and mark my words, you'll get a half of achievements during your first 2-hour run.
Fun casual game, good if your looking for a game that you can half pay attention to while watching a show
довольно таки прикольная казуальная пошаговая стратегия. Когда-то я её настолько любил что прошёл был раз 30. Не советую играть в ремастер тк там заруинен баланс напрочь
