Every game like this, I fall in love with it because of all of the content discovery. Then, I run out of content to discover and I am sad. But this game is very fun and it is worth the investment. Seems like an ideal game for children, too. As a parent, I recommend this game for kids and parents alike.

不过虽然法术种类很多，实际上好用的也就是那几种。
法杖：
如果普通搭配的话，伤害低的感人。所以搭配基本上就只有一种，因为这游戏有个特性，就是当怪物被击退到墙上时，如果继续击退，就会造成高额伤害，用稻草人测试的结果dps大概1w左右，所有吃击退的怪都是秒杀，由此可以得出法杖配置：
激光：持续攻击。 击退：触发特性。 穿墙：增加攻击范围。加速（齿轮）：增加攻击距离。散射（星星和贝壳）：增加范围。还剩一格我个人带的是爆炸，因为有时怪会从激光缝隙里漏掉，带了爆炸很舒服，其次激光也能一直触发爆炸提供击退。
法术：
其一自不必说，如果不想跑断腿、玩跳跳乐就带上传送吧，一开始没有高级的就全带传送增加传送距离，到后面更换高级符文之后就没必要全带传送了，距离溢出太多，基本上3个A级传送就可以覆盖屏幕了，可以加几个秒表减cd。（另外记得把法术右上角的附魔勾上，提高符文效果）
第二个法术自然是要高伤害用来攻略不吃击退的boss了（清杂有法杖就够了），这个的搭配就丰富多了，乐趣基本上也就是在配这个上，分享一下个人配装：
1.追踪：不必多说。2.穿墙：提高泛用性，以及和穿透配合。3.穿透（trick bullet）：让弹幕可以反复攻击同一个敌人。4.蜘蛛丝：能让弹幕从一颗变成一串。5.烧杯：减弹幕速度提高伤害（别看减弹幕速度好像很难用，但是你先释放法术，再触发boss动画，就正好可以不再动手看见boss被秒）。6.蝴蝶：增伤，随机弹道的debuff基本上被烧杯减速和追踪清除干净了。7.扳手：完美解决蓝量问题，而且触发几次攻击。
这一套配出来，在训练场打10w血的石头人，基本上能连续清空将近10次，一发伤害近百万了，有什么boss能抵挡呢（敲钟封印怪除外ww）。
刷图流程基本上就是先用法杖激光乱射，传送赶路，boss房前开个法术，进去触发剧情，boss被秒，简简单单喵。
对了，还有法袍，这个就更单调了。
法袍：
钻石A：-100%击退。俩夹子：不用全A，一个B一个C就已经够了，站立不动时100%减免伤害=无敌（除了幽灵），还是会吃debuff就是，不过只有幽灵的恐慌会让角色动，脱离无敌状态。不过有法杖的穿墙击退，幽灵根本碰不到角色。俩塞壬泡泡：11格弹幕反弹，提高运动时的容错，换成其他的盾也差不多,不过击退盾太大，很容易消耗掉，而且怪基本上不能近身;冰盾是伤害盾，拉完了，电盾还行，不过相比之下不够帅。齿轮：加点移速，让自己看上去不像残疾人，换成其他的也可以。砖块：不动时高额增伤，和钻石夹子天作之合。
基本上就是这些，总的来说是很好玩的游戏，只是没有中文，喜欢这种类型的游戏的话，推荐入手，反正基本上不太可能会打折了www

Forgot to review this game years ago, but this is amazing, simple, fun, and TONS of player expression, no need for anything else in a game like this.

Overall a pretty silly game. 2d Platformer type with insane freeform spellcrafting with a bit of humor added. Literally almost anything goes given you have the materials. Things synergize sometimes, sometimes not. The music is absolutely phenomenal, one of my favorite parts of any game is the music. If my ears are happy, I'm happy.
The level design is alright, its kind of just going from level to level hitting stuff with whatever spell you crafted in a randomly generated level of random enemies that pertain to the area you chose with scaling hp. Lot of trial and error most times but thats part of the fun. There's no penalty for losing or anything just gotta do the level again.
Genuinely a fun time and would recommend to anyone who likes these types of sandbox freeform go ham type games. Definitely worth 10 bucks, and heck if you are into that, I'd pick up the soundtrack as well. Just a good listen.

The amount of customization of both abilities and character appearance is insane, the music and artstyle are charming, and the moment-to-moment gameplay is made even more satisfying by knowing that it's YOUR spells that are doing these things. There can be some major difficulty spikes at times, but genuinely, shuffling around your equipment and spells for different levels is usually the solution! HIGHLY recommend.
Sure, it's far from perfect, but how many other games let you teleport across the stage at light speed and then kill the boss during its intro cutscene?

CUSTOMIZE THE MAGIC LOW GRAPHICS BUT GOOD PLAY TIME!
Magicmaker is an interesting game where you can make your own spells by using a variety of materials that give the spell different effects. Each material you can use has a quality (from A to F [best to worst]), with higher-quality materials having more potent effects, INCLUDING any possible drawbacks! That may sound odd at first, but it makes sense when you take into account that you have limited material slots, so using a higher-quality material allows you to use your other slots for other things instead of having to use multiple of the same lower-quality material to get the same potency. In addition to being able to make a spell for your wand, you also have spell "Scrolls", which are heavier-hitting spells that use up mana (unlike your "Wand" spell, which is normally free). You can also put materials in your robe instead, and each material has a separate robe effect (which tends to be passive) for this purpose.
There are a couple other things I'd like to mention about the spell/material system that I really like that I'd like to mention before talking about other parts of the game. You get your materials for your spells while in a level (often randomly dropped from enemies or from chests), with higher-quality materials tending to show up more in higher-difficulty levels. This, as you may expect, would normally make it potentially difficult for you to acquire a quality/material you're after. However, the game has a nice solution to this issue: The alchemy system! Besides spell materials, you can also find alchemy crafting materials (also of various qualities) that you can use to simply craft the spell you want. Alchemy Tip: The system takes the average quality of the two materials you use in the spell, rounding up, so if you want to craft, say, a "B" quality spell material, you can combine a "B" and a "C" quality alchemy materials to save your other "B" for later! Another thing I like is that, for the most part, the game lets you freely experiment with your spells, as the materials can be swapped around in the hub (they aren;t "Permanently mixed into a spell" or anything) and you can save/load your favorite material combinations/spells for later! Some combinations work better than others, but fortunately there are training dummies in the hub area for you to practice your spells on before you enter a real level. I had a lot of fun customizing and testing out various creations!
Outside of the amazing spellcrafting mechanics, I will admit I have mixed feelings about the other aspects of the game. For example, the game feels tonally inconsistent throughout, in multiple ways. It's generally humorous, but it features both lighthearted and darker humor and can shift suddenly between them. The game has a generally calming, upbeat soundtrack (save for bossfights), especially the forest level theme. The soundtrack is pretty great overall, and I generally enjoyed listening to it! However, the gameplay can get somewhat intense (especially on the higher difficulty levels), making the soundtrack feel unfitting at times. The story shifts around throughout the game as well, and while I wont spoil anything here, I will say that I feel the story had a lot more potential than it ultimately utilizes or gives itself credit for. Even the quality of the jokes and dialogue aren't always consistent, with some parts being good and others falling flat. In general, the game has many aspects I could enjoy individually, but they don't always work together the greatest. In other words, it's like the quality (outside of core gameplay and customizability) varies as much as the various material combinations/spells you can make in the game.
Also, one minor issue I have with the game: There are "Challenges" you can do when you want to replay a level without selecting a story or side mission and instead opt to do the "Free Play" mode of the level. These are generally good, save for one that makes it so if you get hit, you can lose materials from your equipped spells. These aren't just removed for the level, they're removed from your inventory entirely! This makes combining this challenge with others (especially the "Randomized spells" challenge) generally more annoying, and I really wish they would have just made the material move to your inventory instead of making you have to go through re-acquiring another copy of that material if you die. The game otherwise is awesome at avoiding making things unnecessarily frustrating, it's just this particular challenge that I take issue with.
Overall though, I'd say the game is a lot of fun. I've beaten it as of the time of writing this review, but I'll likely be starting it up again soon enough, both to complete the various side-missions and challenges the game has to offer, as well as to continue to experiment and create new spells with the amazing spellcrafting system!
I'd normally stop the review there, but I wanted to share a personal story with this game, which should hopefully help new players learn from my mistakes. When I first played this game years ago as a kid, I eventually gave up in part due to finding it too frustrating to continue forward. Fast-forward to now, ~8 years later, I've recently started going through my old steam library games, I came across this game and decided to give it another go, and realized why I had so much trouble the first time around! Firstly, Instead of completing the starting quest of each type of level, I had tried to do all the forest levels first, meaning I didn't get the extremely helpful rewards from each of the lower-difficulty levels! Secondly, I was too focused on completing a maximum-difficulty forest sidequest as soon as It got unlocked, which meant that my spells were too weak (due to not having good quality materials) and I got myself frustrated with my lack of progress due to my own poor decision-making. I'm really glad I came back to this game now, as I can truly appreciate it and play it as intended! One last side-note: I noticed when starting my new save that the spells and characters I made were still saved and could be loaded, instead of getting deleted. I actually really appreciated that, as It was neat seeing what sort of things I made in this game when I was a kid and how I saw myself then vs how I see myself now (as I had attempted to make my character look like me in both my playthroughs).
Play this game. Buy it. Download it. PLAY IT. "But i-" No, no excuses. PLAY IT. NOW.

It has a great sense of progression, and an unmatched spell crafting system.
Of all the games I've played this is the one that most makes you feel like a wizard.

Amazing game with a plethora of spell combinations. Some trial-and-error, and some grinding involved, but not to the point where it doesn't lose its charm. Music is a treat.
Coming back to review after years to review. Its a hidden gem for those who enjoy tinkering with builds. You can make absolutely game destroying builds and I loved every second of it.

Pros:
This was a simple game with a fairly decent spell creation system. I had a lot of fun trying out different spell varieties. It contains some replay value in the sense that future playthroughs allow for the creation of more powerful spells. The controls were very responsive and gameplay was smooth. It is worth its price.
The story was charming. It's fast to get into the game and play. I appreciate the quality of things like the gameplay tutorial at the beginning, which was entertaining.
Cons:
- Some of the spell balancing was a bit off. For example, I thought the damage over time aura around the character was cool, but it was just so weak compared to other things.
- It would have been nice to have more than 2 spells able to be used at a time. It would add so much more variety to a character.
- Because of spell balancing, the endgame meta became the following. I would use wand for teleportation movement (would anyone sane use it for any other reason than being able to move/teleport/fly around the map at instantaneous speed?). The other spell was for damage.
Fun little game that's worth the price. Mechanically not 'complicated' but the spell creation system is great fun to experiment with.
Sort of feels like something a Finnish dev saw years ago and thought "I am going to attach a physics engine to this and make it a lot harder".

This game is a great place to get lost if you have time to kill or taking a break from another game. I love to have freedom and you have plenty playing this game. Plus everyone knows magic is OP!!!

С одной стороны игра более-менее интересная, экспериментировать с заклинаниями даже весело, но с другой, когда я в своё время наблюдал за разработкой таковой, она всё же была чуть более дельным и полноценным проектом. Были и диалоги нормальные, и система квестов, и даже магаз где можно было докупить ингредиенты для новых заклинаний, а до релиза дошло что? Кастрированный к хренам продукт, из которого выпилили все дельные эффекты (Спасибо, новый эффект Бумеранга просто ОХРЕНЕТЬ какой полезный), и где для того чтобы была возможность сделать ХОТЬ ЧТО-ТО на высокой сложности, нужно тупо задрить одни и те же заклинания дабы шотать врагов прежде чем они шотнут тебя. Были две очень проработанные локи, одна средняя, и потом автор решил напоследок наспех впиндюрить две НУ ОЧЕНЬ хреново проработанные - ледяная пещера с худшим типом боссов в игре, и храм в котором даже босса как такового нету, есть лишь НЁХ которая постоянно за вами летает и мешает жить. Про финальную локу вообще молчу, охуеть весело что нашего ГГ [spoiler]просто берут и выпиливают к ♥♥♥♥ ни за что ни про что[/spoiler]. Я не ожидал серьёзной концовки, ни разу, но те две локации и финал прямо-таки РАЗЯТ недопиленностью.
Короче... Я разочарован. Даже саундтрек не спасает.

This game is awesome! Magic combos are incredible, feels great. Story is funny. Game is too short honestly, finished a couple of times. It would be good if there were some hints to more combos, as I found myself repeating the same good ones. But an amazing experience overall. Could use a sequel or DLC for more gameplay.
Magicmaker isn't much on the eyes, or terribly challenging, but it does let me make a spell that splits into a swarm of homing pinballs, and the charm of that is enough for me.

I had a lot of fun with making spells. I think this is a game for tinkerers and achievement hunters because you'll have to take your time inventing new spells to try and beat challenges and fill out the framework that is achievements.

I can only sincerely hope for modding support as a final update from the developer, so we can add our own spell modifiers and increase modifier slot count and so on. If we had modding support, the developer would surely make even more revenue with the torrent of new owners that would come forth and purchase this incredibly amazing game!

I find myself having as much fun in spell and robe customization as I do spewing death over an entire map, bouncing like a lunatic, and blasting goblins wizards into chunky guacamole. It's silly, it's fun for all ages, and it's more than worth the price tag.
I always go back to it from time to time.
There's so much spell combos to do, it's chaotically fun.

For what it is and when it was made, this was unexpectedly fun. Visually it is very rough around the edges, but the core mechanics of making and using your spells is very interesting. The plot is short and silly, I wish the devs had taken the whole thing more seriously.

this is one of the only games i can wholeheartedly recommend. the style is silly and lighthearted and the mechanics of making your own wands, spells and robes using magic items is great. What i like a ton is the character customisation because you can make anything in between a nerdy science girl to an eldritch horror, this combined with the fact that you can change how your projectiles look to make it match with your outfit makes for a really fun introduction to the game and i haven't even talked about the gameplay
so basically you're a guard in a wizard school (and yes there are many harry potter jokes) and you go around into portals trying to complete different objectives. There are 4 different coloured magic gems which, if you collect all of them, you can unlock a larger chest at the end which can be an upgrade to one of your main arsenal (wand, spells, robe) or a special item that gives you a special bonus, like holding down Q to give you a jump boost or giving you an extra life
my wand atm summons a ton of minions because i think its funny to swarm the enemies in a sea of slimes, if you have the money buy the game and check it out, even if you dont like it you can like gift it to a friend or something lol
I picked this game up back in 2015, played for about six hours, then just kinda... stopped, and never came back to it. Recently, I picked it back up, had a blast for two hours... then realized I have no interest in continuing.
I love the aesthetic, I *adore* the core mechanic of building custom spells out of all these weird and interesting modifiers, and the core loop of "build spells, complete a mission, gather more spell components, make more spells" is really satisfying.
But, the game ultimately is its own undoing because of two factors. First, because spells are so free-form, you'll quickly run into the issue where you've found Your Spells that solve 95% of all problems and have no need to modify your spells further, except when swapping out runes for higher-level runes of the same type.
The other, more significant problem, is that this game is so freeform that it really needs the stage design to provide the structure of a challenge, but the procedural generation almost universally just makes enemy blobs in open areas. If this game had authored level content, it would probably be phenomenal, but because the level algorithm doesn't really make stages with personality, I found I quickly grew tired of firing into blobs of enemies and watching numbers.
Honestly, if this game had a sandbox mode where you just have all the runes and can screw around with the spellcrafting unconstrained, I'd probably still recommend it, because that system is just SO DANG FUN. But, in terms of converting that core into an enjoyable game, I'm afraid I don't think the game succeeds.
Such a crazy game, gotta be one of my top favorites. You play through the same five levels 2-4 times each, battling enemies and platforming around before the final level where your abilities are tested. The twist is that you are an ultra-powerful mage, and to unlock your true potential you have to experiment with combining effects on your basic spells to create screen-wiping thunderstorms based exclusively on interactions between simple projectile modifiers.
Every additional New Game+ playthrough gives you a new effect slot on your spells, wand, and robes to make you more and more powerful over time (to a limit of 7 or 8 total, I don't remember). Doesn't seem all that cool now but once you start mixing effects, it's a whole different story. The game is pretty easy overall, you can find overpowered combinations online and work from there.

I wasn't able to get very far in this game. Part of that is attributable to its art style being a little jarring, and part of it due to performance. Somehow this game manages to stutter and lag during crucial segments, and that simply can't do for a game of its type.

The game is compact and - for the most part - interesting. Experimenting with all the different kind of spells, despite it's looks, are fun.

This game is not for me, I got it because I liked the idea of splicing systems to play your way, butttt I got bored the levels might be "hard" but it just kinda got samey after a while.
Do you like Noita? Well this came out first. Think like they took Mega Man and mixed it with Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow. It is a great sand box of madness and you can create some extremely cool things. Multiple play thorughs do not change the story, just gives you more slots on your gear.
It's rare that an otherwise good game can be completely ruined by the worst writing imaginable, but here it is. It seems like whoever did the awful dialogue and story was actively trying to make people hate everything about the game. There's not even a payoff at the end where you get to nuke the horrible headmaster or some of the other obnoxious characters. Seriously, this is written on a fifth-grade level and the game truly would have been better with no plot whatsoever. Anyone who is stupid enough to punish their players like this shouldn't have a job.
