This already old school game (I’ve played this in 2026) has many strong and weak points. It shines in its very good atmosphere, reminiscing of the first Amnesia, its interesting mechanics that remind you of Bioshock, good sound design and simple but cool environment puzzles. But the story is weak (I don’t know if a second part would make everything better) and sometimes the enemies are annoying.

Really great game. I loved the physics, the audio is especially good and there are some cool achievements. I enjoyed stacking and climbing boxes to reach high places and find secret loot. Riving wooden boxes in the bear traps is super satisfying; seeing the pieces and items inside explode across the room, paired with the loud smashing sound, is really funny. And you can burn stuff! A proper video game.
It's like a combination of Amnesia and Dishonored, in a way. A must-play if you enjoy atmospheric horror games like Amnesia, Penumbra and Outlast. Hope we get a sequel some day!

In this game, we’ll wander through an underground location. What awaits us is literally a massive maze of mines, torture chambers, and bunkers. And there’s only one goal-to escape (preferably alive).
Each area will have several mini-puzzles. To solve them, you’ll need to pull a lever or press a button. The catch is that you first have to find them, and what stands in your way are poison, electricity, and axe-wielding maniacs.
It does sound intriguing and exciting. The graphics are stunning, too, everything is detailed, well-optimized, and the eerie atmosphere is perfectly conveyed. But. God, is it booooring. You just have to mindlessly run through a ton of rooms searching for something. And yes, around the middle of the game, you get telekinesis so you can pull levers from a short distance, but that doesn’t really make things much better.
In the end, we get what should be a great game-one with an interesting premise, a genuinely enormous underground base, and attention to every little detail. But the actual gameplay doesn’t keep you on edge; instead, it quickly gets tedious repeating the same actions over and over.
I can’t bring myself to give such a polished project a negative rating, but I also can’t recommend it. Unless you’re really into these kinds of games and are willing to wait for a sequel.

Lethe - Episode One is an okay atmospheric horror game, Okay then the story. A young man and a journalist named Robert Dawn is on a little ship headed for a little known Island mining town, he goes there after cleaning out his deceased step father's home in order to pay the debts that he had left him.
As Robert was cleaning he discovered a letter that told him everything he believed about his life was a lie, he wasn't born in England as he was born in a quiet mining settlement, so desperate for the truth he sets out. But perhaps there was a good reason for his father hiding this information, perhaps the past is better left alone.
Alright let’s talk about the likes, the story is pretty good it does have a problem but that's for the dislikes, but besides that the story is told mostly through notes and some visuals and there's enough clues in most of the notes to piece together what happened and what’s going on while still leaving room for some mystery and questions.
The gameplay is okay it's styled after Amnesia the Dark Descent basically explore while sneaking past enemies and solving environmental puzzles, but what helps the game stand out and is it's telekinesis mechanic, basically later on in the game you get the ability to move objects with your mind and it's quite simple and helps with solving difficult puzzles and platforming in later levels, it's also pretty simple to use and not too complicated to figure out what to use it on.
The graphics were good pretty distinct with a nice uses of dreary dark colors and designs that really gives the right kind of depressive, lonely and creepy atmosphere. The levels are good and is a bit diverse with some visual distinction from a creepy mind to a laboratory to even a medieval style dungeon, you can get a tiny bit lost sometimes, but it wasn't too bad.
The enemies were okay they had their own interesting looks and had some creepy and tragic back stories. The music was okay, fit the game quite well. The notes were good as it did good job in telling the story and the backstory of the little island itself.The atmosphere was very good, nice and spooky kept you on the edge for the first time playing it as you wander this creepy mind and dread every sound in every lever or button you push.
Now is this game scary, for the first time yes it can actually be pretty spooky as you are wandering around the mine dreading every sound and noise, especially when you see enemies. Also the scares were well placed and the game didn't rely on jump scares, only atmosphere and creepy sound effects.
Alright let’s talk about the dislikes, now just to warn you there is a motion sickness problem with the game as I was playing it I kind of got sick to my stomach a little bit, so you might want to take breaks through each of the levels if you're feeling queasy.
Anyway with the warning out of the way some of the achievements for the game can be a bit of a pain in the ass to get, the worst being first class explorer because for some reason the counter for it doesn't immediately go up in certain areas your supposed to explore in order to get this achievement, you have to wait like a few minutes until the counter registers that you explored that area, it was a real pain in the ass.
Also this game doesn't have level select so if you missed a note or something to explore you're going to have to start the game all over again. Lastly like I said in the likes there is a slight problem with the story and it's the fact it ends on a cliffhanger and since this game was made in 2016 we will probably never see episode 2 released which is sad.
So now that you know all this Lethe - Episode One is an okay atmospheric horror game, with a pretty good story, okay gameplay and very good atmosphere. Now do I recommend this game, I do even though it's probably never going to be completed, but I will say get it on sale.
Not a bad game. I enjoy the exploration and atmosphere. Not really liking the whole hiding and being chased. Does not have a borderless window option. The story is engaging. What gets me is the creepy atmosphere even with aging graphics.
Very beautiful and atmospheric game especially game first level when you are outside but sadly most of this game levels are underground and you dont explore the beautiful and interesting island more on outside. but still very nice adventure with horror elements and got interesting and good story. sadly never came more episodes than that but very good hidden gem type of game 7/10. i recommended this.

had this game a few years now. Decided to give it another airing.Got a new laptop with windows 11.Would not load up. I dug out my old laptop and it works fine on windows 10. Great game .Worth a go. Pity it"s been abandoned.

Just finished this on my Youtube channel (link at end of review for anyone who wants to see a gameplay sample before buying), and overall I thought this was a decent horror game. What is unfortunate is that apparently Lethe Episode One was meant to be the first in a series of games, but sadly said series got cancelled and as such there's never been an Episode Two. But nonetheless, Episode One is worth picking up and playing!
Other people have mentioned it already, but you can definitely see the Amnesia inspirations underpinning this game. In many ways, Lethe is very similar - first-person perspective, exploring dark, sinister environments, finding notes and solving basic puzzles, and using stealth to avoid dangerous monsters. So if you enjoyed the gameplay of Amnesia: The Dark Descent and are looking for games with a similar vibe, chances are you'll probably enjoy Lethe as well.
The basic premise is that you play as a man searching for answers about his own identity, and you are washed up on a strange shore after your boat is wrecked somewhere on the Greek coast. Soon you discover that this stretch of shore and the old mining facility located there are eerily devoid of any life. Cue a story that unfolds about sinister scientific experiments, where the ancient Greek folklore that the game is based upon (Lethe, the river of forgetfulness and oblivion in the underworld) ties in thematically with what is going on.
The visuals are fine and hold up well, as does the sound design. In terms of atmosphere, the game definitely has its moments of general creepiness, especially when you're wandering through dark, claustrophobic tunnels and passages, figuring out puzzles whilst keeping an eye out for whatever creepy entity stalks the place.
The gameplay is nothing special, I would argue, but it does function well and is pretty solid. Lethe does have a gimmick of its own: not far into the game, you unlock the power of telekinesis, enabling you to pick up, manipulate and throw props in your environment. In essence, this is much like the ability to pick up and throw objects in Amnesia, just with a few more possibilities (e.g. being able to pick up and move objects behind fences up to a certain distance). Again, nothing special - but it works well enough.
Overall, the game was fairly well-made; I didn't encounter any bugs or glitches. In terms of length, Lethe isn't very long - I completed it in about 4-5 hours. In terms of difficulty, the game's puzzles are decently challenging without being overly difficult - usually, where I struggled it was more a case of me not engaging my brain properly rather than the game being too hard. So, in summary, Lethe - Episode One is a decent horror game and is well worth a shot!

Lethe was a cool, atmospheric, dingy, first person puzzle game that was pretty fun to go through. Only took 3 hours on my first playthrough and while it had "horror" elements and some chase sequences, the horror was nicely placed and never felt out of place. There weren't any jumpscares or cheap tricks and everything wrapped up in a nice bow. A lot of this games story is in the form of notes to collect but its never too much text that you TLDR. Only issue I had with the game is on the very last level, where you need to toss a certain item above a gate to get it into an unaccessable room, which WAS a thing you could do in previous part of the game, but the gate you throw the item over doesn't look the same as the others and therefore doesn't look as if anything can fit into the gap to proceed. Other than that one hiccup though, I got this game real cheap on sale, everything else made sense and I had a good time playing this game. 7/10

I play a man who discovers that he is not who he believed himself to be. An old document from the attic proves that his real father once placed him in someone else's care. But why? Before he can fully process the shock, the protagonist sets out to find his origins and travels to the house where his real parents lived. Strangely, he wakes up on the beach in front of the shabby little house, and so begins a bizarre quest...
The game is played from the character's perspective. There are no weapons, but you can interact with objects, and some of them can be picked up (for healing, energy, and puzzle pieces). The game consists of a total of 8 chapters. Saving occurs automatically, but you can also save at specific points (once per chapter), which will be very helpful later on.
Later, the ability of telekinesis is added to move things. Needless to say, this is crucial to the game. It was also fun, as I had to draw on old RPG skills for some puzzles - but you should discover that for yourself.
The path is blocked by various obstacles along the way. Whether doors, grates, acid puddles, hot steam, or other things, there is a lot to solve, so it is by no means a walking simulator - this becomes clear at the latest when the evil antagonists appear. Strangely enough, sometimes they are on my side - does this have something to do with the whole story of "my" origins? In any case, the story becomes clearer (and more bizarre) the more clues I find (we remember that the protagonist is searching for his real parents).
[b] The Impression [/b]
It begins with subtle horror, so no mutilated undead or other splatter elements or fights. The horror is initially subtle, intangible, playing with expectation and imagination, and it does this well. Although you come across dead bodies, I consider that part of creating a creepy environment, it didn't feel overly forced.
At first, creatures remain in the distance, but their brief appearances still evoke a sense of unease. I had a constant lurking anticipation of contact. Sounds, noises, and music significantly contribute to the mood.
Graphically, I had no complaints about Lethe. The game world is very well depicted, everything seems to be exactly where it belongs. The world is neither overloaded with details nor lacking anything - it's hard to explain, but it just "fits." There is nothing to criticize here.
[b] Controls and Miscellaneous [/b]
With keyboard and mouse, it played wonderfully, as I could customize everything individually. Controller support is also offered. Both should be standard nowadays.
In the prologue, it is recommended to play in a dark room and with headphones. I recommend this as well.

Not too many, but enough to search for. And they are well-chosen for gameplay, with only one being completely pointless. You have to play the game a maximum of a second time, as some achievements are mutually exclusive, like "Step into a trap 3 times" and "Disarm all traps in the game."
Lethe: Episode 1 is a small gem. It can easily withstand comparisons to Amnesia. I found it great and therefore recommend it without any reservations.

Atmosphärisch und optisch ist das Game nicht schlecht. Aber Ich bin da jetzt über 2 Stunden rum gelaufen und es ist rein gar nichts passiert. Hauptsächlich sucht man halt irgendwas und schubst ein Paar Sachen durch die Gegend. Mir reicht das nicht um mich bei der Stange zu halten
Aber Freunde von sehr ruhigen Walkingsimulatoren können bestimmt ihre Freude an dem Spiel haben.

Ускорение мыши делает поворот очень неудобным, и его нельзя отключить. К тому же выбраться из воды невероятно сложно. У вас есть телекинетические способности, но в основном вы используете их только для того, чтобы убрать объекты с вашего пути в 99% случаев, и даже это иногда может быть настоящей рутиной. Мне показалось, что история рассказана плохо. Лишь несколько разрозненных заметок, мало что раскрывающих, и мысли главного героя на загрузочных экранах. Немного дилетантское звуковое оформление. Звук странно прерывается, когда вы прекращаете выполнять действие, которое звучит очень неестественно и иногда нарушает погружение. Некоторые вещи даже не издают никаких звуков. If you've played any games from the Amnesia or Penumbra series, Lethe will seem pretty familiar to you in terms of its gameplay. Environments are full of interactable objects that can be pushed around and rearranged to build pathways or solve puzzles (though you only gain the ability to pick things up an hour into the game). The visuals, while reminiscent of the aforementioned Frictional games, are gorgeous to look at and create an incredibly rich atmosphere.
Monster designs and encounters are solid, as is the sound design. The weakest point is easily the puzzles, which mostly consist of wandering through mazes to find a lever that unlocks the door to go forward. They're often fairly confusing, since certain switches can blend into the environment. The story isn't the clearest to follow either, since it's delivered entirely through notes that can be easily missed.
But don't let that deter you, because despite its flaws, Lethe oozes character from every shadowy orifice. It's a shame we won't be seeing a second chapter for the foreseeable future, but this one is worth it for a nice departure from the traditional Frictional formula.
P.S.- Watch out for bear traps. You'll thank me later.
A shame the devs never continued the franchise, there was definitely good potential here.
Obviously taking a page straight out of Frictional Games' Amnesia installments, Lethe has you figure out the story you're walking through using notes placed throughout the levels, often in reverse order to create the sense of reading some ill-fated predecessor's memoirs.
This in itself is not a problem, however it becomes tedious when there is no dialogue to complement the storytelling. You've got to read every note yourself, and besides the note there is never any dialogue.
The lack of dialogue is great for the quiet, abandoned mine atmosphere, but doesn't do the storytelling part of the game much good, which is very important for an episodic game.
The world itself felt erratic and random, the further you progressed. It rotated between early 1900s mine, to late 1990s horror hospital, to medieval dungeons, to what looked like a Christian cult.
The story bears no rhyme or reason to this erratically changing environment, making it seem like the developers themselves didn't really know where they wanted to take the story.
An introduction to a horror franchise with good potential, but sadly fell flat and seems to be abandoned by the developers.

Plays fine, graphics are ok but just kind of boring. You can't protect yourself in this game, only run and hide which is pretty lame. You might like it if your really into stealth gameplay which I'm not.

The game looks impressive, considering how old it actually is, and it is a shame that it was never finished.

Game started off really well with a beautiful cozy scenery of an abandoned mine house and the first few levels were decent. The monsters weren't very scary at all. Also way too much health everywhere to pick up and it was more a walking sim than a horror game to be honest. After the first three levels, it's starting to get repetitive: clearing your pathway from boxes and vases. It seemed like the devs just ran out of ideas of what to do with the game. The story grasped me at the beginning but halfway through the game it wasn't interesting at all anymore, which is a bit sad to be honest.
This game is a perfect legacy & love letter to Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
It does a very good job of creating a creepy atmosphere based on sound & environment design only (thanks a lot for not using lazy jumpscares :-)).
This game is for me one of the best surprises in survival horror of the last few years.
Unfortunately the developers seem to have moved to other shores & there won't be an episode two :-(

Un horror leggero
This game is the epitome of decent. Not good. Not bad. Just decent. It’s basically a horror game with some physics based puzzles, very similar to the Penumbra and Amnesia franchises. It’s serviceable and I didn’t encounter any game breaking bugs.
However, the horror elements are extremely weak and the plot, told almost entirely through notes, is pretty bland. There are also some technical issues/poor design choices that hinder the experience. The enemy AI is pretty rough, which isn’t a big deal in bigger areas. However, in the final encounter the monster kept getting stuck, which resulted in them camping the one narrow passageway I needed to enter. I eventually just had to run past the monster and accept losing a bunch of health. Luckily I had saved up healing items. Had I not, that may have been game breaking. Also, it was a really dumb choice to litter the floor of the final levels with objects that you can get stuck on while crouch walking. You can’t interact with the objects to move them aside, since they are part of the floor, but your character will constantly get snagged on them, which can be life or death during a chase sequence. The objects don’t impede you while normal walking, so I’m guessing this was a design oversight, but a pretty bad one in a stealth horror game that relies on crouch walking to avoid enemies.
Sideways thumb isn’t an option, so what made me decide to go with a negative review is the fact that the game ends on a cliff hanger and the series was abandoned. I knew this going in and would’ve been fine with that, had the other issues listed above not dragged down the experience. I don’t mind an incomplete experience that has no real ending, but it needs to be a good ride and this game is just a mediocre one. There are much, much better horror games out there, but if you want a decent one and you can get it for a dollar or two, this one is okay.

A simple but seriously engaging game.
Obviously inspired by Amnesia, with the same kind of gameplay, scenario and even somewhat story. It's not trying to clone Amnesia, but instead telling its own story and creating its own world.
There is nothing new here gameplay-wise, and some of the writings are a bit cliche, but there's nothing wrong with that.
It's a fun classic horror game that deserves much more attention.

Good horror game. Graphics are good, story is there, immersion is definitely. As other players already said, a lot of similarities with other games in the same genre, so, you are into those, go for it!

Lethe Episode One is a first person survival horror game that for all intensive purposes is another one of those and while I enjoyed my time a shorter experience would have sufficed.
The game opens with a few paragraphs explaining you are Rober Dawn, a journalist, who while cleaning up his deceased fathers belongings finds a letter that disavows everything Robert has known about his life. This falsehood has driven him to search for truth and leads him to an island that you will crash upon to start the game. The remainder of the story will be buried in notes and only notes. While a majority of the writing is good, the documentation of the torture scenes easily stick out. It's pretty standard in most terms with horror tropes of experimentation, drugs, dire effects, etc. and the story doesn't end really on a cliffhanger, as this is episode one, but more of, ok I’m out. .
The graphics and color palette for Lethe does not stray too far from gray, black, candle and torch light but the areas have nice detail and feel realistic. This game is dark and that's fine as it sets the mood perfectly, but would have liked to see more change to the levels. After the first chapter, as you awaken on the beach, all remaining levels are inside traversing cramped corridors of mines, caves and dungeons. The game looks great and never had any issues in performance. I just needed a break from the dark.

Gameplay revolves around simply exploring and solving a few simple puzzles to escape so you can get to the next area. This is usually about restoring power and you will need to locate canisters to repower machines. This is done really well as it makes you explore everywhere not knowing what lurks around the corners. Of course sometimes around a corner you will be stalked by one and only one enemy that you cannot kill. Like in other horror titles the enemy just wanders a certain path and if you are seen they will pursue. The enemy only spawn a few times and near the end of levels so not much of a threat but when they enter the area their scream, breathing and gurgling will keep you crouched and silent.
As you will learn, your character has no inventory, can save at only certain stations(1-2 per level) and has 3 stats: stamina, health and power. Power becomes available after a few chapters where your character evolves with the ability to cast telekinesis. I have no problem with the power as it works as expected(though you cant turn items which is needed in a puzzle), but why can The power cores for example, is a simple fuse like item, but I have to use the telekinesis to carry it? Also using Telekinesis the items are super sensitive so any interaction with the world you will more than likely drop it.
This is not a favorite genre I crave but enjoy once in a while. The game does a great job of setting atmosphere and tone while providing some decent levels to explore and puzzles to complete but the biggest criticism is the length. For myself, it's too long and should have been edited down to 5-6 chapters max. If you are not looking in every corner for achievements or letters for the story you can run this game in less than 3 hrs.(guessing) Time is never a measurement of good or bad, but it lost that sense of tension and unknown as levels became redundant. A perfect example would be the last level which introduces weighted switches. Why do this now?
This is a very, very light recommendation. I hope they address and review some of the concerns and bring a much tighter experience for episode two because I would like to see where they go from here but I still had fun and that's still the main criteria for a game.

Short review: A resounding recommendation from me! Very enjoyable game!
PROs:
- Good graphics and unsettling atmosphere.
- An intriguing story (mostly told from notes you find) that kept me going.
- Excellent level design, made even better with the later addition of telekinetic powers.
- Very effective music and sound design.
- Although this is "Episode One", the story has enough finality to it to stand on its own. I do hope we get more in the future.
- A short playthrough (4.5 hours the first time, 2 hours my 2nd time) but thoroughly enjoyable.
- You cannot fight the enemies in this game. Though the encounters are far and few inbetween, when used, it's genuinely terrifying. Playing with headphones will definitely help keep track of their lurking and avoid them a lot better.
- The game ran great with all visual settings set to max.
- Not many notorious "jumpscares". The few we get are earned and effective.
CONs:
- I got stuck on the environment once or twice, but reloading the last save never took me very far back.
- Game crashed once or twice.
Lethe - Episode One. Der Spieler übernimmt die Rolle des Journalisten Robert Dawn, der herausfinden möchte welches katastrophale Ereignis auf einer abgelegenen Insel stattgefunden hat. Dort angekommen widerfährt ihm nach kurzer Zeit ein Missgeschick welches ihn von da an Dinge in Form von Telekinese bewegen lässt. So muss der geneigte Spieler nach Schema F immer wieder Schalter umlegen, damit sich irgendwo eine Tür öffnet, die sein Weiterkommen garantiert. Um dabei eine Art Grundspannung zu erzeugen ist einem dabei fast immer irgendetwas auf den Fersen.
Die ersten beiden Level bauen noch eine gewisse Spannung auf, da hier und da kleine Rätzel geknackt werden müssen um weiter zu kommen. Nicht zuletzt trägt auch die als gelungen zu bezeichnende Grafik und der stets düstere Ambient-Sound dazu bei diese zu unterstützen. Doch das war es leider auch schon. Da helfen auch die in den Level verstreuten Schriftstücke nicht weiter, die einem eigentlich das Geschehene näherbringen sollen.
So war bei mir zumindest nach dem dritten Level die Luft raus und primäres Ziel war von da an so schnell wie möglich den Ausgang zu finden. Auch die Texte waren nicht mehr von Interesse und habe sie links liegen gelassen. Nach insgesamt acht Level ist das Spiel dann auch "zu Ende"?! Tja, und da liegt dann auch der größte Hund begraben. Im Endeffekt ist es ein "open end" Sprich, das Spiel endet einfach mittendrin. Gerade dann, wenn es wirklich anfängt spannend zu werden.
Von der technischen Seite sind wie schon erwähnt die Grafik und der Sound absolutes Mittel zum Zweck. Trotz der paar Jahre, die das Spiel auf dem Buckel hat, kann es sich immer noch sehen bzw. hören lassen. Teils ist es aber so dunkel, dass die Gamma höher gestellt werden muss um etwas zu erkennen. Unreal Engine typisch bleibt der Charakter auch an jeder noch so kleinen Unebenheit des Bodens hängen. Das hätte viel besser gelöst werden können. Auch die Physikspielchen, die stark an Portal von Valve erinnern sind mehr schlecht als recht umgesetzt. Über die hakeligen Animationen der Bösewichter verliere ich lieber keine weiteren Worte.
Fazit: Lethe - Episode One ist ein 0815 Survival Horror Game, wie Ihr es zu Hauf auf Steam findet und aus der Kategorie: Alles schon gesehen, gespielt und erlebt, worauf Ihr getrost verzichten könnt. Schuld daran ist nicht zuletzt die unfertige Geschichte. Es wird auch einfach nur auf eine der Urängste der Menschen gesetzt: Die Dunkelheit. Spart lieber das Geld.
Gostei do jogo mas tinha muita perseguição para o meu gosto. Como o cenários da maioria dos níveis era muito parecido, já tava ficando sem graça os últimos 40min do jogo.

Lethe was a game I wasn’t looking for but I’m glad I came across it. While it’s mainly a walking simulator it does have a couple of enemies to avoid and there are no weapons. Set inside a mine, you awaken on a beach and all the towns people are missing. There’s seems to be something wrong and there was an evacuation.
The graphics and atmosphere as quite nice and the game has a creepy feeling to it. All of the game is told through notes and there is no voice acting or narrative voice filling you in. There are easy puzzles such as operating door switching and getting electric working and nothing is over complicated when solving.
There’s no manual saving and the only check points you get are place right before important events. Otherwise all saving is done at a save station area and if you die you could lose 20+ minutes of gameplay. But honestly you probably won’t die unless it’s to an enemy, which has a check point.
The game was about 5hrs long to complete and by that time I was kind of getting bored of it from lack of engagement. It was still a good game to play and gave me no issues playing on mostly max settings on a steam deck.

挺不错的，不难的恐怖游戏才是好的恐怖游戏。
画面在独立游戏里绝对是合格的，也会用蒸汽来扬长避短。解谜也挺一目了然不卡关，比起解谜游戏更像步行模拟器。敌人弱到不行非常好躲而且出现频率并不高，红蓝药水泛滥。是一个体验顺畅，画面优秀，恐怖感恰到好处的atmospheric游戏。
就是差了点让人爱到不行，至少眼前一亮的元素。有些俗套。

其实挺鸡肋的。玩到后面也没什么新鲜感，还卡起关了。别的不说，那个扔三四下撞开门实在有点不及格。它并不属于单纯的互动，而是既定规则的破关。前面没有提示，后面也不重复，唯独在这里来一个机制，实在丑陋。
后面追逐躲猫猫有点难了，也有点烦。这种玩法的本质就是背板，把迷宫和敌人路线摸熟了，谁都能无伤过关。这玩意从来都不是香料，没有谁会在反复死亡过程中获得乐趣。但是在其他方面优秀的时候这些可以忽视，其他方面都很平庸的话，这种东西越少越好。
就还是感觉不太充实，没什么能吸引人的地方。给好评意思是及格，但是食之无味。

Honestly this game got great atmosphere and is well done but generally sucks as a "horror game". This is a logic puzzle game, i finished it in 3 hours, but this can be done in 1 1/2- 2 hours if you know what to do and arent a p*ssy like me. There are barely any horror elements, and certain parts suffer from what seems like unsufficient playtesting- introducing new gamemechanics without having explained them first until you randomly figure it out. I.e making players turn steamvalves all game long then expecting them to stop one in the process of spinning a single time when this was never possible or necessary before. The last 3 levels, the areas become literal labyrinths, but there are no ways of telling places apart cause it lacks waymarkers/points of interest and everything looks the same, so you will end up running in circles while getting chased by ♥♥♥♥, while the game expects you to already know where to go and what to do.
All in all i would give it a 4/10 for a mystery puzzle game, and a 2/10 for horror. Sorry, i kinda liked it, but its bad.
Fantastic game that deserved way more attention than it got. I would rank it right up there with Amnesia, and in some ways I enjoyed it even more. Everything about the way your character moves, jumps, and interacts with objects feels very fluid and polished. The environments look great and are highly detailed. Level design is very impressive, with good use of verticality, and reminds me of the levels in classic games like Thief, Dark Messiah, and Clive Barker's Undying.
One thing I really appreciate about Lethe is that, although there are monsters and they are dangerous, you are not being chased by monsters constantly throughout the entire game. They only appear in specific places (typically near the end of a chapter), and once you get past them you don't have to worry about them again for a while. For me, that is great because 1) it leaves some breathing room to fully explore and appreciate the levels -- navigating the environment is as much of a challenge in this game as escaping the monsters -- and 2) the monsters are actually scarier when you see less of them. Lethe excels at building an atmosphere of foreboding and dread, rather than relying on jump scares and frantic action.
The game is labeled "Episode One" and no further episodes have been released, but don't let that stop you. As it stands it offers a solid 7-10 hours of quality content, and I felt satisfied upon reaching the conclusion. The ending hints at a sequel that would take place in an alternate dimension (which would be very cool if it ever actually got made), however the lack of further episodes does not detract from the value of Episode One in any way. Considering that it frequently goes on sale for under five dollars, it is an absolute steal for fans of horror games, and would even be a good introduction to the genre for someone who has not played one before.

Man, Lethe - Episode One is so good, especially if you're really into Frictional's games. This game is obviously inspired by Penumbra or Amnesia, from the story, the gameplay, and everything. But this doesn't make the game feels like a copy or a fan-made game based on Amnesia or Penumbra. Instead, Lethe - Episode One is a decent horror game.
The lore is similar with Penumbra 1. After losing his dad, our character discovered more information about his late father and decided to pursue it into a mine. Although it sets off with an interesting premise, the story feels not alive. Like many other indie horror game out there, the player will learn about the lore through documents scattered in the game. Sadly, without a proper "title" for each documents, it feels confusing to follow the story, as it is later goes further than a son trying to find more about his dad into an otherworldly power.
You can grab object in Lethe (similar with the rest of Frictional's games), but there is a catch. The number of object that you interact with is limited, and they're not as "flexible" as Frictional's games. Nevertheless, Lethe was made by a small team, and this is already amazing! Especially the sound design. Yup, a hidden gem of horror game.
There are some scary moments, but this game is not really that scary. The level design is mostly the same with many similar assets. It will get boring in mid game because the pacing is a bit slow combined with a bad lore.
if we put the story aspect aside, I'm going to give Lethe - Episode 1 a 8/10, but considering the story and the pace, 7/10 should be enough. Can't wait for Episode 2... if it ever comes out.
Decent graphics - I played on Medium graphics (PC can only handle so much). Some of the level layouts reminded me of Return to Castle Wolfenstein, which I enjoyed. The puzzles are solid - some are easy and some very challenging. Scare factor is definitely there. I'll admit I jumped a couple of times and the hair on my arms was raised. Story line is exactly what I expected. I'm not sure if there's a second episode but I definitely want to play it.
An underwhelming and unremarkable horror game. Excluding the atmosphere; everything is grievously mediocre, enemy encounters and puzzles are ineffectual, mechanics are introduced and promptly abandoned and the story has absolutely zero emotional weight to it. Episode Two will have a lot to improve upon as this is far from a strong start.
The experience is true to its namesake, forget this and play something memorable.

Если честно, поначалу у меня были определенные предрассудки по поводу этой игры. От инди поделок на юнити обычно ничего особенного не ждешь. Так и было первые 20 минут геймплея, а потом... потом мне начало нравиться, то что стало происходить на экране. Да, видно что игра пыталась в Амнезию и у нее отчасти это вышло (временами вообще вспоминалась "Машина для свиней"), но вот по части хоррор элементов вышло уж совсем простовато. Итак что мы имеем:
- Атмосферные прогулки по шахтам почти с полным погружением
- Довольно любопытные головоломки, которые проверят вашу логику на прочность
- Неплохая физика предметов
- Интересное комбинирование способностей и головоломок
Что вышло сомнительным:
- Сюжет. Но здесь он и не нужен.
- Противники тупенькие и теряют тебя из виду уже через секундку, а серьезных столновений с антагонистами так и не произошло. Как такогого экшона тут маловато.
В целом мне было очень приятно наткнуться на такую маленькую и незатейливую инди-поделку. Ожидал душноты и скуки, а получил порцию приятных впечатлений и флешбеков из Амнезии. Всем любителям не спеша погулять по заброшкам и порешать загадки - однозначно рекомендую к ознакомлению.
The plot is a bit smoky in my opinion, perhaps because this game was supposed to be the first episode of a series. The game isn't very scary but there are moments of tension when you have to escape and hide from the monsters who want to slaughter you alive and the environments are very atmospheric. A big shame that the developers have abandoned the development of the other chapters but the ending allows you to almost pretend that there should've been nothing else after the first episode.

Really cool indie game. Really scary!
Thoroughly enjoyed playing this game. It's absolutely worth it. Just a few minor "bugger-ups" - especially with regards to the controls. Like when crouching your character would literally raise his feet quicker than dropping causing him to drop to the ground instead of crouching. Another thing is the movable crates and barrels causes your character to jump up and down if moving too close to them. Last but kinda the most important - why can't the player defend themselves with the powers obtained during the game. Like throw a barrel and knock an enemy out or actually hurt them - does he really have to be such a pathetic sod? Maybe think about making that a possibility in the follow-up episode, I mean these powers are like super powers, right?
Other than that I thoroughly enjoyed playing the game - the graphics is superb and I can see all the effort put into the music, sound - sound is fantastic with headphones and the lighting and shadows is impeccable. Thank you!
Pretty good horror game that kinda reminds me of Amnesia a bit. Great atmosphere and sound design. The "chase scenes" are not over done like a lot of other horror games. They even included a FOV slider, props. Short and sweet, give it a shot if you are curious.

I tried to find all the notes and even looking pretty thoroughly I only probably found half of them so I didn't understand the story which made the things that happened in the story have no impact

Seemed like it would have been fun. However I cant seem to actually make it 5 minutes without the game locking up and totally screwing up my computer which then needs to be rebooted.

After looking through the reviews, and having played it for myself: All I can say is that it's mediocre at best, and I had to ask myself if I was even playing the same game. I completed the game in just under 3 and a half hours, and did not find anything about it overly engaging. The graphics were okay, but everything else just felt.... Unfinished. Easily a 5/10 at best.

Not atmospheric, as a lot of people claim. There were the usual sounds in the locations (example: water drops in caves), and SOME ambient music here and there.
On that note, I found the music very intrusive during "Stealth" segments, as it was really hard to hear their footsteps.
The puzzles were basic as can be.
The creatures would just disappear after I evaded them once, typically, completely destroying any element of horror.
Bear traps were annoying at best, not really impactful.
Going back to the creatures: They were typically incredibly easy to evade as long as you didn't run into a dead end. I honestly found myself caught off-guard by the bear traps more than the creatures.

Play time. I don't see how people have 10+ hours in the game. As mentioned at the start of the review, I'd beaten the game in just under 3 and a half hours while only missing a few things. That being said: 3 and a half hours isn't bad for a $15 game.
Overall: Mediocre at best, and I suppose my rating should be lower than it is. My whole thing is that it's not bad, per-se; it's just barebones on most things. I'm with the people who say "If you go in with the expectations of having another/better Amnesia, you'll be disappointed. It's honestly nothing exceptional, and a few things even don't make sense. Not gonna spoil them, but the little "side" bit towards the end, we'll say, left me wondering "How does that make sense?". If they ever make a 2nd, I hope they expand and flesh things out. Simple as that.
Update: I've now actually played Amnesia, and yeah... It's a lot better than Lethe. They may have several playstyle similarities, and both have the issue of the music overtaking the creatures' footsteps, but Amnesia is significantly better in almost every regard.
游戏氛围其实还行，就是系统做的很恶心。想做全成就的，被恶心到吐。没法选关，某关如果漏掉任何一个收集，过关了的话，全成就这周目就做不了了，只能重开，没法从关头开始，恶心的一逼。作为一个序章，长度有点长了，后面关卡非常黑，全部是地牢牢房，又在地下，非常黑，非常压抑。
即使不做全成就，这游戏也不不咋地，做的很一般，幽闭恐惧症的人，最好别试了，空间狭窄黑暗，非常压抑。怪倒还好，不是很厉害，也不是很难躲，不能选关，只能重开实在是傻比恶心！！！
想玩恐怖游戏的，这种作品就没必要尝试了，还是去玩逃生系列吧！！这个真不推荐，不咋地
Holy Moly, This game screams greatness. This game gets it right on 3 fronts. From the graphics and atmosphere/environment to puzzles it is breathtaking and spellbinding. Granted this game sparked a very old thought and brought it clear back to Ultima Underworld 1 and 2. Whereas, in those games everything was underground. Lethe does have a fraction of daylight early in the game but hence the remaining is all in caverns and cobblestone hallways but it is laid out well and looks divine. In time this does become a touch tedious and cumbersome but with the outstanding graphics/environments and some puzzles involved it pulls through with a standing ovation. The puzzles reminded me of a similar time spent in the Half-Life series. It just simply doesn't get much better than that for a game. I recommend this game to anyone looking for a top notch horror style game that lets you say "outstanding" at the end of the trip.
