Jumpman is a platform game written by Randy Glover and released by Epyx in 1983. Originally developed for the Atari 8-bit family, versions were also released for the Commodore 64, Apple II, IBM PC, and ColecoVision.

Before there was Mario Bros...there was Jumpman. The TRUE OG jumpy boy! I loved this game so much as a kid and I was delighted to find it on Steam. I played it on Commodore 64 and I had a lot of games, but Jumpman was easily top 3. The platforming style and obstacles will feel a little rough at first but like all platformers once you get a feel for it bounding through the levels is a blast. A 10/10 classic
This is a pretty solid version of the old school Jumpman (speaking for the Commodore 64 option). The DOS versions have some issues with controls and just a bit of wonkiness. While this was never one of my favorite games, it was one of those that my boomer elders had on their PCs that I'd be stuck playing on those "bring young tykes to work" days. The C64 version here is as close to what I played as my brain remembers all these years later.
I had this on a 360 kB floppy diskette, originally, and played it on an IBM PC Jr. until my baby sister touched the magnetic part, ruining it. We all played endlessly before. However, having played it again now, I wonder if the story of my sister was concocted by parents hopelessly annoyed by the grating sounds emanating from game play.
Back then, you couldn't turn down the volume of the PC speaker. Now, you can! It's still a great game, playing with the keyboard at least. Each level tends to have a unique quirk to it that keeps things interesting, and I suppose all of the variety made it profound in the 80s, when perhaps we had far less. The first level has a dot that chases, the 2nd, these bug-like creatures to dodge.
Other levels have chasing bats, ropes to climb, disappearing platforms, dashing lasers forcing you to jump, and much more. The game is very imaginative with such a small canvas. Constraints promote novel thinking, after all.

I had high hopes for Jumpman C64/MS-DOS, but unfortunately, I was left disappointed. While the C64 version still holds up well, the DOS version just wasn’t as good. The controls didn’t work properly right away, requiring me to go into the emulator settings just to get things functioning—something that should’ve been set up from the start.
Visually and gameplay-wise, the C64 version was clearly superior, but even then, I ran into random issues that caused deaths. Whether these were bugs or intentional design choices, I couldn’t tell, but it made for a frustrating experience.
If the developers can improve the emulator setup and polish things further, I might give it another shot in the future. But for now, with so many well-optimized classic game releases out there, this one just isn't worth the hassle. I’ll pass.

OMG I never thought I'd find this treasure here.... hours playing this with my father as a kid. This is the grandfather of all modern platformers. Awesome game!! I'm 45 BTW...

Brilliant port, plays exactly like I remember.
it brings back memories from like back in the day but this is the type of rage games and that's whats so fun about it. btw you have to press the arrow key and space bar at the same time to jump for new players

Jumpman developed by Epyx, Inc. and Published by Pixel Games UK is a great addition to any older gamer's collection on Steam. This game had 2 different iterations of the same game which offers some different, yet similar game play.
Ah... A great classic. But unfortunately they don't have the Atari 8-bit version which is the best version and which as level editors.
Still, The c64 version is also good. So gold star here.

Nice fun little game from yesteryear. Play the C64 version, it's so much better than the DOS version which used to be the only option for playing this. It looks, sounds, and plays so much better, and you can even use an Xbox controller.

A decent game, especially given its price. I bought it not-on-sale for under AUD $3. All game levels need to be played to grasp the fullness of the game. All in all, it's a good edition to the early history of gameplaying, with gameplay, game design and game concept in good ranking.
Unplayable. I don't get many refunds on Steam but I have to here. You would not think an old DOSBOX game could crash Windows, but here we are. Steer clear and I guess get a C64 emulator or wait until someone does a real port/remake.
It's the original PC version but appears to not be a clean copy. All the high scores are filled with whoever's copy this once was. Appears to be the same pirated copy that is available on archive.org unfortunately and not a clean copy.
Brings back the nostalgia from playing this as a kid. They keyboard sometimes sticks your guy in run mode and jumps don't immediately respond, which is sad. The non-responsiveness can be frustrating as well as having no ESC or exit button from the game other than CTRL-ALT-DEL and exit through the task manager. What do you expect for a $2 game? But I do love the memories it brings back playing it on the neighbor's PC.
This is the PC version of Jumpman, not Jumpman Jr or Jumpman Junior for the C-64, Atari 400, or the PC Jr. Its JUMPMAN. Yes its clunky but this is the PC version not the Jumpman you could have had on the C-64 and waited for the tape to load. C-64 versions are superior. I've not played the PC version so this is fine. The worst part is the "music" when you run around. Still worth it. Jumpman Jr would rule.
This is not the Jumpmen JR I ever played in the 80ties on my C64, it's very anoying to play with controller or keyboard.
And the jumpman cannot climb or jump like it did back then on my home computer.
Even the graphics were better on that cool machine !
You can't even quit properly.
On the one hand, I very much appreciate this being here and my nostalgia levels have gone through the roof. It's suitably hard and, with patience, playable.
On the other...
• it's not the C64 version (Amiga or Apple II maybe?); the sounds and colors are... not right
• the controller input detection is incredibly janky
• the resolution options for screen sizing aren't sufficient
• you need to alt-tab out to quit the game
Steam requires a thumbs-up or thumbs-down when reviewing; if it didn't I wouldn't select either way
Also, delete some games to make space on your hard drive and carve out enough time before you expect to play - at 4 MB for the download, this could take a while to install (sorry, Microsoft Flight Simulator install PTSD...)

Хороший обычный платформер который состоит из 30 уровней. Все их нужно пройти за отведённое количество жизней. Но сделать это будет не легко, так как игра довольно сложная.

They added the Commodore 64 version. It plays ok with a controller. My XBOX One controller works ok.
Now I'm happy to have the game.

Imagine an Apple 2e version with no quit option, best graphics option 1080p CGA graphics. Beep Sound / music. Why they didn't just give us a Commodore 64 version is beyond me.
I have my reasons for not refunding the game, but we're not allowed to discuss it beyond I loved the game on the Commodore 64 and wanted to buy a copy I could play legally.
This is a DOSBOX "hell" version and other than supporting the IP I see no reason to buy it.
