As I had stated in my review of the first game, Jets'n'Guns shaped up my interest in shmup games thanks to its unexpected & over the top presentation and thus, has a special place for me. I was blown away as a kid because the game simply felt too "hardcore" compared to other shmup games on the PC market at the time. While other games were mostly space shooters with calm or heroic soundtracks, Jets'n'Guns was a bloody, explosion-filled experience that blasted sick metal tunes.
To try and recreate that lightning in a bottle moment, especially in this day and age when Eastern shmup developers have easier access to global markets, takes a lot of bravery. Still, people at Rake In Grass decided to try their hand and answer their fans' constant pleas for a sequel. On first glance, everything seemed perfect: Devs had more experience under their belt, Machinae Supremacy was coming back to compose the music once again, and the switch to a newer engine meant more compatibility and technical ease of access.
But now I have the final product in front of me and... I'm conflicted.
[h2]Don't get this if you want more of what Jets'n'Guns 1 offered[/h2]
[b][i]Let me be clear: Jets'n'Guns 2 is by no means a bad game[/i][/b]; It's just an normal shmup and a disappointing sequel. Jets'n'Guns 2 is very different compared to what you knew and loved about the first game, and has become more like the shmup games that the series originally tried to outdo and ultimately dunked on in style.
The story is no longer one of the game's priorities, so the humor and comic panels are all gone. The game has ship customization now, but the drawback is that there is only one ship in the whole game. The rewards you get from cargo caches are no longer interesting and don't feel like something you would put in them (like hotdogs and beer). There's no need to change your loadout and see what works best anymore, as just buying the newest and the most powerful equipment is enough to get you through the whole game on the standard difficulty setting for the majority of it. Gaining enough money is no longer an issue as you are showered with it and the game even lets you replay levels and get the difference between your best scores as profits, allowing you to upgrade your equipment to their max levels as soon as possible and become a machine of mass destruction. You have access to a lot of new defensive abilities (such as shields and health refills) and the game even gives you hull repair powerups en-masse through the levels and boss fights, drastically decreasing the game's difficulty compared to the first game.
If you want more of what you experienced in the first Jets'n'Guns, you're not going to find what you seek here. And I can also say the same thing about the music as well. The new music tracks, while are very well-composed, feel MUCH less energetic and memorable for the most part. Now I don't know if this is nostalgia clouding my judgment on the music, or something else.

Now what if you're a newcomer to the series or did not like the first game very much? Well... there is a high chance that you might like Jets'n'Guns 2 more than its predecessor; Although I don't know if you'd be willing to actually finish it or start a New Game Plus run (which actually makes many changes to how the bosses behave).
While the game has many differences in terms of gameplay compared to the first game, it has still retained the series' explosive personality. The enemies and the structures in the environment blow up in spectacular fashion, something that has been amplified compared to the first game due to JnG2 utilizing modern technologies and fancier graphics. Although the number of slow motions that happen after the destruction of big structures is very high, making them lose their novelty and become annoying instead. There's also a very high variety of equipment and weapons to choose from, with the game introducing new ones even as you finish a run and go through New Game Plus, allowing you to deal destruction on a massive scale and fill the screen with all sorts of visual effects.
The game leans heavily towards being an explosion-filled spectacle and thus, it seems like it can be a good candidate for those who just want some much-needed dopamine. But unfortunately and contrary to popular belief, visuals are not entertaining on their own. Something, in many cases the gameplay, needs to go hand in hand with it to provide actual entertainment value. And this is where Jets'n'Guns 2 stumbles.

The game's visual readability problems are still intact. So, as you progress through the game and get access to more powerful weapons (which increase your ability to cause destruction), the screen will be filled with all sorts of visual effects that hinder proper bullet visibility and make it easier to get hit by what you didn't see coming. To counter this, Jets'n'Guns 2 introduces a variety of defensive abilities such as shields, health regenerators and protective drones. This has actually prevented the unfair moments to ruin the game, but it has also caused the game to get way easier than it's supposed to.
If you are an experienced shmup player, you are going to plow through the enemies and bosses with ease, because the game is not challenging and even showers you with health refills and money, allowing you to get your hands on the most powerful weapons much faster and easier, or to just tank every attack that comes your way. There's a whole lot of cooling items as well, allowing you to keep your finger on the shoot button for extended periods of time without the fear of your weapons overheating.
I am not kidding when I say I was no longer enjoying the game after the first hour. All I did was to aimlessly move around as my overpowered loadout made quick work of anyone who stood in my way, and use any chance I got to drop my utterly destructive bombs on the bosses for quick kills. And yes, I could try to go through the game with no shields, but I should not be forced to deliberately handicap myself in order to create the challenge that the game is failing to give me. The only time when the game gets hard, is when you are going against one of the bosses; And the difficulty comes not from the boss itself, but certain design decisions that I personally do not like.
Nearly all of the bosses either frequently enter the left side of the screen (where you start and stay at for most of the game), or quickly lunge towards your ship's location. A lot of the bosses, final boss included, also have to be hit in specific weakpoints or your damage will not register, with them being placed in hard to reach locations. And some of these boss weakpoints can only be hit using your ship's rear weapon, a new gameplay addition in JnG2 that is barely useful in normal levels, and may force you to retry a level as you might not have a good rear weapon equipped to deal with the boss.
Jets'n'Guns 2 is a game that cannot satisfy its longtime fans, who wanted more of the same thing but with improvements, because of the many changes ir makes to the formula. On the other hand, it also cannot satisfy seasoned shmup fans as it's too easy and devoid of challenge, with the difficulty options and New Game Plus feature not managing to hit the right spot. As such, I really cannot recommend it to both of these groups. But if you are a newcomer to the genre or are casually playing shmup games for fun, there's some fun to be had here.

Old JnG fans and shmup veterans won't find much to enjoy, as the game is very different and much easier compared to the 1st game. Casual players and shmup newcomers can find more fun to be had here.

I guess this one is more mixed, but it's not that bad.
Jet 'n' Guns 2 is a sequel to the oldschool sidescroller that was released back in 2004 for PC. That one is kind of janky, but charming little game with a very high difficulty. I'm not sure that the original required a sequel, but seeing it on Steam, curiosity got the best of me and I decided to check it out.
The first game didn't take itseld too seriously, so despite it ending with the entire universe being destroyed, the sequel just ignores that continuity. You are still playing as a bounty hunter on the job of saving world from an overwhelming threat. The story is told by short briefings on the mission screen. The charm of the original with it's minimalistic comic style panels is lost.
There are less levels thatn the first game as well. The Gold version on Steam actually has over 40 levels in it. The sequel ends abruplty after somewhat cool big bossfight, but then it just moves on to credits and offers to beat the game again on higher difficulty.
The graphics are actually pretty nice. Everything is slick and colourful, and the game runs super well. The soundtrack by the Machinae Supremacy is still the best part of the presentation. That being said, the original had a unique, kind of messy and grungy look to it. Menus featured rust as a prominent motive. The enemies had a variety of designs from weird to outright horrifying. This game kind of lacks in that regard, while saturated, lacking certain character.
The gameplay, thankfully, feels great. The ship is fast and snappy and guns are loud. The levels are destructable, the enemies explode, trigerring slo-mo after particularly big explosions. The main loop of buying new stuff for the ship after each level is intact. There is a lot of different upgrades to try out, from guns, rockets and bombs, to the newly implemented antimatter devices and passive items for the ship. However, the menu is a mess. Every item is unlocked from the start and thrown into a giant scrolling list that is hard to make out from what you actually want to get. You get quickly overwhelmed by choices, even though most of them you can really afford. At least stats are massively improved, the first game used this arbitrary icon system to see how much damage weapon did and how much heat it generated, now this information is given in clear numbers and can be compared between each item. Another issue is the readability. While the game looks nice, the amount of stuff on the screen can get messy and it can be hard to make out bullets. A lot of levels feature asteroids in the background, that can be mistaken as being actual objects in the game, and I was trying to shoot them down or avoid them multiple times, only to realise they were just a decoration. It makes dodging attacks kind of hard, especially on the "high speed" levels, where you can't react to the movement at all. Tanking attacks is a viable strategy, considerin how much enemies drop armor bonuses and with upgrades for armor and energy shield your little ship will be really hard to kill. And the game is definitely easire because of this. Original got to the frustrating levels of difficulty, with aromor upgrades having almost no effect in certain situations and even miniscule difference in DPS would cause quick level restart. Here the game is much more forgiving, with me having only one death I could call unfair due to being crushed by the final boss right before halfway checkpoint.
The game apparently was originally released as an Early Access title, and I wonder if the original vision of the game was even fulfilled, because at certain points the game just feels unfinished. The menu feels like a placeholder, there is lack of content and the game ends very abruptly. Again, the first one ended with the complete destruction of the universe and a time travel to the beginning of the game. Here it just stops after 12 short levels. The core of the game is fine and shooting was pretty fun. The idea of swapping weapons and upgrades is still tehre, but due to lesser challenge, you don't really need to adjust your arsenal to level layout anymore. But at the same time, it's not like I was super upset. I had a good time overall and don't really want to dunk on the game. It's unlikely that it will be expanded upon any time soon, but it could be ok to kill a couple of hours if you get it at a big discount.

Spustit hru a otevřít konzoli stisknutím F11. Pak napsat příkaz "lang cz". Opětovný stisk F11 konzoli schová. Hra se rovnou přepne do češtiny a příště už se tak rovnou spustí.
Bohužel je přeloženo jen velmi málo, a ještě k tomu s překlepy. Zbytek zůstává v angličtině, ale použitelné to je.
K souboru lokalizace hry se sice dá dostat, ale obsah souboru není možné rovnou editovat. Na stránce vývojářů byl kdysi k dispozici rozšifrovaný anglický soubor pro překlad, ale už není.
[h1]JAK SE HRAJE[/h1]
Hra "Jets'n'Guns 2" má 5 hráčských PROFILŮ, u kterých si zvolíte, zda budete hrát SAMI, nebo VE DVOU, a také si vyberete REŽIM hry – zoufalecký, standardní, tvrďácký. ZOUFALECKÝ do začátku nabízí zbraň navíc a větší sumu peněz. K tomu jsou slabší nepřátelé a opakováním levelů vždy dostáváte získané peníze, a nejen při překonání rekordu skóre, jako je tomu u STANDARDNÍHO. TVRĎÁCKÝ je jako standardní, ale máte jen jeden život, pak je tento profil uzamčen a může být pouze restartován od začátku. Osobně jsem sice začal na standardní režim, ale pak jsem ho po nějaké době ukončil a začal znovu na zoufalecký, protože jsem čekal stejnou nálož levelů, jako u první hry, ale pak jsem zjistil, že jsem se na standardní režim dostal téměř na konec. Kromě režimu má hra ještě OBTÍŽNOST, která je při začátku hry vždy normální. PO DOKONČENÍ HRY můžete hrát znovu se stejnou nebo zvýšenou obtížností. Hru si tak můžete užívat dokola a dokola. Jelikož vám ZŮSTANE VÝBAVA I PENÍZE, tak můžete směle vylepšovat a ladit výbavu a arsenál.
Hra funguje v základu stejně jako první díl, takže je nutné najít vhodnou VÝBAVU a správná VYLEPŠENÍ pro konkrétní situace/levely za aktuálně dostupné finance. Hráč i zde není nijak penalizován za zpětný odkup, takže lze vesele zkoušet nakupovat a prodávat bez ztráty PENĚZ. Před zahájením levelu je možné si nainstalovanou výbavu VYZKOUŠET, navíc v malém okně obchodu probíhá simulace, takže vidíte, jak to bude v akci vypadat. Škoda jen, že opět není v katalogu zbraní krátká animace, jak střelba vypadá, to by výběr značně usnadnilo. Takhle nezbývá zkoušet je nainstalováním na loď. A tím, že se hra ukládá pouze sama, tak si nelze uložit stav lodi před zkoušením, aby se dalo rychle vrátit k původní výbavě. Lze si sice koupit "Loadout", tedy přepínání dvou výbav lodi, ale jakákoli úprava se přenáší, takže to nejde využít k prodeji a zkoušení. Katalog zbraní a jiné výbavy je tentokrát odemčen "celý", a tak si můžete vybírat z celého sortimentu, ale zobrazuje se vám jen to, na co aktuálně máte finance. Někdy lze v průběhu levelu získat NOVOU ZBRAŇ, kterou asi nelze jinak koupit, lze ji jen vylepšit. Koupené nebo takto získané zbraně mají NEKONEČNOU MUNICI.
Na rozdíl od první hry si můžete navolit vzhled lodi, ale na rozsah zbraňových a jiných systémů to nemá vliv. K dispozici máte jednu ZADNÍ a tři PŘEDNÍ zbraně. Ke každé zbrani můžete přidat MODIFIKÁTOR, tzv. "G.E.M.", který nějak upravuje její funkci. Dále jsou tu po jedné pozici RAKETY a BOMBY. Na ně G.E.M. aplikovat nelze. K tomu lze v lodi využít až šest pozic DOPLŇUJÍCÍ VÝBAVY. Např. si lze zakoupit a do nich naistalovat přenos, a tedy účinkování v reality show Carnage TV, takže se vám zvýší odměna za ničení čehokoli. Nebo třeba generování antihmoty, duplikování bomb či navýšení pancéřování a chlazení. PANCÉŘOVÁNÍ přirozeně ovlivňuje odolnost trupu. CHLAZENÍ je zcela klíčové v kombinaci s výběrem zbraní. Každá zbraň má totiž několik parametrů a ZAHŘÍVÁNÍ při střelbě je jedním z nich. Pokud zbraň přehřeje stroj jste dočasně bezbranní, než alespoň trochu teplota klesne. Dalším parametrem zbraně je DPS, tedy kolik poškození za sekundu způsobí. To usnadňuje orientaci při porovnávání účinností zbraní. A třetí základní parametr je rychlost střelby. Je samozřejmě super mít vysoké DPS, ale pokud za sekundu vystřelíte jen jednou, tak vás rychle zaskočí i malá skupinka nepřátel. Novinkou je v této hře využití až dvou ZAŘÍZENÍ využívajících získanou ANTIHMOTU. Již od začátku máte k dispozici bariéru, kterou můžete na pár sekund aktivovat po naplnění zásobníku antihmoty. Obě zařízení mají přidělené tlačítko pro vyvolání, takže hráč může v boji využívat obě. S patřičnou doplňující výbavou lze aktivovat obě zařízení zároveň. V mém případě krátkodobé vyvolání bariéry kolem celé lodi a znásobení účinnosti zbraní.
Během levelu lze sbírat NÁKLAD. Bedny jsou však zašifrované a pro jejich odemčení se používá zařízení Atarix 2000 Deluxe se DVĚMA REŽIMY. Automatický je zprvu nespolehlivý, ale s každým manuálním cracknutím bedny se šance trvale navyšuje až na 100 %. Manuální hacknutí je ve formě MINIHRY, která se podobá hře Snake/Had. Je třeba hadem ve stanoveném limitu sesbírat 5 prvků a nenabourat při tom. Jelikož už nelze hru uživatelsky uložit a načíst, tak už není prostor na opravu. Ale obtížnost od prvního dílu značně klesla... tedy ta pro přemýšlení.
Mezi levely je textem vyprávěn DĚJ, ale jelikož to není přeloženo, tak jsem se tím ani nezdržoval, dost možná jde o obdobu děje z první hry, protože skladba levelů tomu napovídá.

Больше похоже на демоверсию, чем на полноценную игру. Есть несколько нововведений, но они абсолютно не развиты и существуют только на уровне идеи, а все новое снаряжение похоже на кучу плейсхолдеров.
Кораблей нет вообще, уровней почти нет, а те что есть наполовину из первой части, только кастрированные. Игра проходится пяткой левой ноги (особенно если поставить щит, который полностью убирает потребность в бесконечном количестве хилок на уровнях).
Единственный плюс - это возможность достать банку пива из холодильника и выпить его (что ничего не дает, кроме странного эффекта мыльных пузырей на экране), и то каждый раз надо покупать новый холодильник.
Игру явно выпустили, только чтобы выпустить. Почему так случилось, я не знаю.

Прочитал в отзывах, что разработчик умер в 20 году. Это все объясняет, кроме продажи этого как полноценной игры.
good old shmup
Ein wirklich fantastisches Spiel, genau wie der erste Teil. Ich finde es perfekt: Die liebevolle und detailreiche Grafik, die Spielmechanik "ballern und upgraden", die Masse an Level und Assets und ganz besonders der Humor. Der Soundtrack gehört für mich zu den besten Game Soundtracks, es gibt so wenige Spiele wo ein Soundtrack so gut zum Spielgefühl passt!
Viele Rezensionen stufen das Spiel als zu schwer ein und ich verstehe, warum Spieler diese Meinung vertreten. Dieses Spiel baut ganz extrem auf dem Erfolg der letzten Level auf - wer in diesem Level nicht genug Geld sammelt, wird es im nächsten Level noch schwerer haben. Genau das gefällt mir richtig gut!
Here's one time I wish Steam reviews allowed a little more nuance, even just a "Maybe" beside Yes and No. Because while I don't feel like judging this game bad on its own merits, it's also not the sequel I'd have hoped for the original JnG.
Credit where it's due, they learned their lesson about the levels, which are shorter, faster-paced, and generally much more pleasant to go through.
The destruction is once again top-notch, sometimes literally everything on screen can be dismantled, with plenty of explosions and many huge ones.
The arsenal is once again large to the point of being almost intimidating, even more with the new inclusion of special devices attached to weapons, the GEMs, which can grant special bonuses at the cost of side effects (example: more power but bonkers aiming).
You can now go back to any level you have beaten and access secret ones if you found them, but get more money only if you beat your own previous records. There's also a mode for more casual play, although I personally would have avoided giving so much firepower so early.
However, where the original game was too long to the point of overstaying its welcome, Jets'n'Guns 2 has too few levels comparatively, of course you can start a new loop after finishing but it's over too quickly.
The game has also lost a lot of character. JnG's storyline was nothing amazing but was narrated through nice comic-style screens, between encounters with many crazy enemies. This sequel is quite a bit more "subdued", with only the Beer Empire striking me as a "silly" level, and there's the flimsiest of the excuse plots narrated through just text boxes.
Even the soundtrack, while nice, is not as good as the original.
There's finally the issue of too much visual noise. The original could get confusing at times, this game does that quite often due to an excess of big explosions and screen shaking, and you can only deactivate the latter.
I've heard this game went through a troubled development. It leaves me with a distinct impression of being incomplete, like at some point the developers decided to just cobble what has been made up to that point together, and be done it. Better this than nothing... or not? Good game to kill time but even with its flaws, the original could still scratch that itch better.

Having played JNG Gold and then JNG2 back to back - i can say JNG2 is way more polished, less quirky and less "weird" - it's still weird dont get me wrong with some very unconventional weapons but I think it's better and the choice is a lot more obvious in this game and I really like JNG2.
One tip for new players -> do NOT ever start with normal mode. Go with casual mode and then replay the game again and "continue" with a higher difficulty when asked at the end. Otherwise you will suffer dying a LOT. You'll be severely underpowered with very little cash at each level if you start at normal.
I really like the graphics, the overall tone - although would have prefferred if this one was a bit longer (oddly enough I cannot wait till JNG gold to finish when I played it, because it felt repetitive and annoying in a number of parts of the game). This one I didnt want it to stop!
Hope to see a JNG3 in the future, with more customisations, tweaks, options etc - really love this one!
A flawed but nevertheless cool reimagining of a cult side-scrolling classic from the 2000s. It’s clear the developers labeled it as "complete" long before realizing their ambitious vision, and the overall lack of polish and depth is palpable, but it can still be a whole lot of fun, provided you know in advance what not to expect. And if you cut it some extra slack because all of this was created by two people, then it becomes a pretty impressive effort.
In a few selected areas it even managed to surpass the original. The visuals can compare favorably not only to the awkward photo textures of JnG1 but also to many newer indie shmups, and the game capitalizes on its sleek look by cranking the amount of excessive destruction up to 11. You get more speed, more enemies, more bullets, and everything explodes all the time so lavishly and beautifully.
The boss fights became much more involved, numerous and epic (half of those bad boys don’t even fit on the screen), while the boldness of customization options is impressive, with some upgrades significantly affecting the core gameplay (like a manual aiming module or a device that lets you ignore the heat limit at the price of your health).
However, there are obvious drawbacks as well. The campaign is very short (about 2-3 hours even if you account for the retries), which isn’t a sin per se, but it does feel extremely lacking compared to the scope of JnG Gold, and the game actively invites such a comparison by using a lot of the same set pieces, weapons and item descriptions, often making it feel closer to a remake than a sequel. Another obvious downgrade is the story: there’s no funny comic strips here, only bare-bones text descriptions.
One might say JnG2 tries to compensate for that with fleshed-out NG+ options, inviting to replay the campaign again and again while both you and the enemies get stronger (in contrast to JnG1 where the loops barely changed anything and were purely an exercise for achievement hunters). This only half works, though, due to a serious lack of balance. It seems like the devs kept wildly adjusting the multipliers up until the release, so now everything is either very easy or very hard, with scarcely any middle ground.
In particular, starting from loop 6-7 the game turns into an unintuitive puzzle, overwhelming you in seconds unless you go for a specific build base (namely, equip Blast Projector plus Circulus to multiply damage through drones and Tigerfun missiles to negate enemy projectiles). Ironically, this is also where the previous advantages start to feel like design flaws, since most upgrades are rendered meaningless, bosses become easier than regular mooks, and the screen gets filled with so much crap you rarely see what kills you.
Still, it’s possible to extract enjoyment even from the late NG+, provided you’re willing to stick to the few working solutions. And if you’re not too psyched about fumbling around for them yourself, I recommend using [url=https://steamcommunity.com/app/830820/discussions/0/3202618375238266783]this helpful build[/url] but with Zeldor Panzer + Shield instead of Device Connector + A.M. This way, you won’t have to explode before all the other exploding things while still maintaining basic gameplay engagement (unlike many other OP builds aimed at screen-wide attacks, which just turns the process into a mind-numbing, eye-straining exercise in "press X to win").
Last but not least, the OST by Machinae Supremacy is as awesome as you would expect if you know who Machinae Supremacy are (and if you don’t, I highly advise changing that). Granted, it feels less OST-like than in JnG1 and more like simply a collection of catchy metal tunes, but they are damn good catchy metal tunes. The band looks like they’ve been hibernating for the past decade, but they woke up temporarily and did their magic for a successor of the game that shaped them as much as they shaped it.
Overall, I’d still recommend playing [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/262260]Jets’n’Guns Gold[/url] first, since it’s a much more complete and well-realized title, but if you end up wanting more after it or prefer to start with something prettier and modern-looking, this is a perfectly viable option as well.
Also, the Mortal Tetrix minigame is pretty cool.

Pretty cool shmup that loops when you beat it onto a higher difficulty.
It saves progress between stages and allows you to replay previous levels to find missing secrets. You can upgrade your weapons and buy new ones.
Sometimes visibility can be a little bit of a problem, with many different coloured shots and missiles all over the screen. On the flipside of this, the colours do make for a neat spectacle at times too.
Reminds me of [b]Drainus[/b] but with less flair, still quite good.

I played Jets n Guns since childhood. Multiple times i complete it both in my childhood and in steam version. I never get bored of it. it was a perfect indie Side Shmup games with endless posibilities, variation and choice. the soundtrack was magnificent. As someone who likes metal, Machinae Supremacy was a perfect fit for Jets N Guns OST. Oh! and the story too! that comic strip before the start of every stage, it was very captivating. i literally read the story multiple times. It's been long i want the sequel of Jets N guns. and i couldn't hold my excitement when they said there is indeed JnG 2 released on steam.
My expectation was high, and when i buy this and try it, oh god. i am back playing JnG 1. this one looks horrendous.
The good :
(+) The Destruction was far more intense and better than the first game. Explosion everywhere. far more spectacular than JnG 1 which already encourage big explosive and destroy everything with your weapon
(+) Fresh looking new weapon Variation with some old weapon back. Thanks Rake in Grass for bringing Back my Favorite Suntec Bozotron and Zombie Blues. The Best weapon ever.
(+) The troops have voice instead of just ahh ohh nooo scream when being run off like in the first game
(+) The stage design is as challenging as ever. Love it.
(+) The game over screen is animated. small change, but it was sure a thrilling filling seing the ship destroyed animated instead of just static image like in the first JnG
(+) Co-Op Gameplay! oh GOD! The feature i and many JnG players asked for! It's there! it was a massive Smile on my face seing this feature.
The Middle (?)
(+/-) Machinae Supremacy song on this one is not as iconic as JnG 1. Forgettable and not as energetic like the first JnG. But that's personal taste i think (?)

(-) Where is My Special Devices? why it got sold on shop now instead of making it seperate as a ship attachment like in old ways? WHy? it's so confusing
(-) The Menu UI Is horrendous and awful. The placement of the element and text is turning me off from reading it. and the start mission even looks ridiculous. it alone already almost throw me up from the game
(-) Why is the style looks more cartoonish now? i don't have problem with cartoonish style, but when you applied it to JnG, especially compared it to JnG 1, it looks awkward
(-) Why there is so many slow motion just from big explosion? The slow motion was intented for only spesific momment just like in JnG, not every big explosion is slow motion
(-) The Test Mode is laughable and ugly, Why can't you just bring like the old test mode where we can test the weapon on space junk?
(-) Where is the strip comic story mode? oh wait! the comic artist already left studio. Yep, the comic strip story is gone.
(-) Compared to JnG, the weapon now looks more blurish and cheap. It's not visually good like how it is in JnG 1. It looks awful. Totally awful. Even the old weapon looks weird as hell.
Sorry, but as someone who play JnG since childhood and complete it multiple times, JnG 2 is a dissapointment for me. Does that means the game is all bad and not worth playing? no. not like that. The game is still good. really good. Especially if this is your first Side shmup game or your first Jets N Guns Game. The Levels are challenging and the design is cool (kinda) and the cartoonish goofy weapon can make you happy and feels like god once you reach the endgame and repeat it again. It's very replayable. And also it has Co-Op Mode which make you able to play with your friends. But for veteran who dump many hours on the first Jets N Guns and complete it many times, this one is a massive dissapointment. I went back to Jet's N Guns Gold.
I like this game greatly. Haven't finished it yet. I absolutely LOVE the Stage 2 music.

[*] Саундтрек теперь просто классный роцк. А самая часто слышимая тема Shopmusic получила ремикс и заиграла новыми красками.

Классный SMUP, который во многом уступает первой части.
Много контента "просто есть", убрали диалоги и прочие штуки, которые добавляли погружения во всё действо. Игра буквально для того существует, чтобы порадовать игроков после первой части, ибо там, в отличие от двойки, объяснялось всё что только можно в плане Лора.
На каждую фичу есть шаг вперёд и столько же назад.
Поэтому, как бы не хотелось, но оценить выше первой части не выйдет.

To be blunt: this is a very boring shoot-'em-up.
It looks promising at first—nice graphics, great soundtrack, unlockable addons—but it's just a mess to play. The screen constantly explodes with so much visual noise that you quickly lose track of your ship and enemy bullets. It becomes frustrating instead of fun.
There are tons of buyable power-ups, but they all feel the same. Most are just basic guns, missiles, or bombs with slightly different patterns or fire rates. No special effects, nothing creative—just a wall of generic weapons.
Some bosses are cool at first glance, but none are truly great. Levels are visually original, but there's nothing special about their design or layout. The difficulty is fine—I'd say easy to average—and I played with a mouse, which worked well enough.
If this game brings more people into the genre, great. But as a shoot-'em-up, it's a weak one. There are far better options. If you're into chaotic arcade action, I’d rather recommend Renegade Ops—it doesn’t pretend to be more than it is, and at least it’s actually satisfying to play.

Jets'n'guns (Fantastic!) > Jets'n'guns 2 (Extremly good) > Jets'n'guns Gold (Complete garbage)
Overall: Insane beautiful and breathtaking action with good music. Totally worth it.
What's new and great comparing to J'n'G 1:
- Better design
- Cooperative play for 2 players
- New devices system, ultemates, weapon modifiers and other nice features
- Balance and difficaulty are good, but after 2/3 of the game becoms a bit too easy
- New tricky enemies
- Insane bosses and new fantastic levels (Robot planet and water boss stuck in my head forever)
- Slowmo
- Upgraded graphics
- Do not drink a beer!
- You can return to older levels to collect all secrets or to try to earn some money to be more prepared to a new level.
What was lost:
- The story. No comics and cool story anymore. You are just completing level by level.
- New atarix is bad and boring. You don't feel yourself a true hacker anymore
- Music is worse, then in J'n'G 1

Aunque me recuerda muchisimo a los juegos de Mommy's Best Games. Con su estilo grotesco, ironico y frenetico.
Es practicamente, como si fuese desarrollado por los mismos.

The game itself is not exactly bad, and can be worth taking at a discount.
But as other negative reviews say - this game is absolutely totally objectively worse than the original.
It may look a bit more pretty and shiny - but that's it.
Everything else is better in the predecessor.
This game is too easy (although a matter of preference - I remember I had troubles with the tank boss some time ago, but decided to give it another go recently - and everything was just a piece of cake. Maybe they made it easier with patches, I don't know)
This game also has less variety than the predecessor. Less of everything

Just feels emptier and more mindless, the first game had a plot, although it looked like a drug trip - it was there. You experienced a stupid fun story. Here nothing is connected, and there's zero engagement in that regard. In fact, it is a bit off-putting that you play level after level that have zero connection to each other.

To byla jízda! Krátká jízda!
Jak rychle tohle šílenství začalo, tak rychle bohužel skončilo. Hra uteče opravdu rychle i když si dáte jednou denně nějaký ten level. Není jich moc + bonusové levely a tím to končí. Najednou je finální boss a konec.
Hru jsem si užil Všudypřítomné exploze, lítající kusy lodí a lidí to je pěkná podívaná. Ta hra je extrémnější verzí prvního dílu, co se efektů týče. Tady je těch efektů hodně, navíc i zpomalené záběry z explozí, což je taky pěkná podívaná. Potěší naprosto dokonalý soundtrack.
Hratelnost se vůbec nezměnila, takže kdo máte rád první díl bude se vám líbit i toto. Jen to bohužel rychle uteče. Rozhodně můžu doporučit. Obtížnost hry postupně stoupá a většina boss bitev je velkou výzvou. To trvá, dokud nemáte maximálně vymakané zbraně, což jsem neměl. A že jsem se navztekal u té hry :D Hlavně když už byl boss téměř mrtvý, a ještě stihl vystřelit poslední střelu, která mě zabila. To se mi stávalo několikrát!

Фантастическая и уникальная игра. очень рекомендую для ознакомления. Я не ощущал таких эмоций года, наверное с 1995 и SEGA.
Как человек. который полюбил рок и скролл шутаны благодаря JnG, могу сказать, что я рад выходу второй части, ностальгия и драйв - на прежнем уровне, но в чем то, как игрок, я остался разочарован.
Начнем с плюсов:
Шикарный визуал, все ярко, куча эффектов, враги, естественно, отдают дань уважения первой части.
Музыка, о да, она прекрасна, каждый трек драйвовый, гитарные запилы, все это увеличивает вкус игрового процесса.
Геймплейно игру прокачали, добавили особые девайсы, которые помогают в бою, некоторые стволы также отсылают к первой части.
Режим хардкор порадовал, вырезали чекпоинты + одна смерть и всю кампанию с нуля, в первой части такого не было, за это респект
А теперь к неприятному:
Сюжетки не существует, ее просто нет, наверное то, что расстроило больше всего, да, в первой части это не было чем то вау вау, но это придавало целостность, некий путь, ну и вот это геройское ощущения, ура мы герой и спасаем мир от злого буки.
Количество миссий мало, если сравнивать с первой частью. Запустив игру впервые, я думал, что задержусь в ней надолго, но, за присест я ее прошел и был опечален.
Один корабль, черт побери, он, один.
В первой части было две сложности, если быть скилловым, проходятся они примерно одинаково, во второй части ты попадаешь в петлю времени, просто по кругу все миссии, и так раз за разом, причем первые сложностей 4 ты просто не ощущаешь, просто выносишь все, только на инсейн и так далее ты ощущаешь сложность, но, к тому времени просто надоедает перепроходить одно и тоже, только вражина становится жирнее, как и боссы.
Закончить хочу на том, что как бы то ни было, игра мне понравилась, если оценивать ее как отдельную игру, вне существования первой части - она крута. Конечно, хотелось бы что то типа первой части, но видимо, это в сделку не входило.
просто огненный скролл-шутер старой школы. как первый но всего больше и лучше. музыка - огонь. драйв - отличный. это не совсем упоротый буллет-хелл, это про веселье и разнос всего вдребезги. 12/10! лучше чем когда-то был disposable hero и r-type.

Можно считать данный отзыв как нейтральный. Неплохая игра, но порекомендовать не могу.
В первую очередь, это очень короткая кампания. 2-3 часа на всю сюжетку это как-то очень мало. В игре около 10 основных миссий и несколько секретных. В прочем, секретные это тупо переделанные основные (новогодняя к примеру). Я ожидал хотя бы 20-30 полноценных миссий, с сюжетными поворотами, с предательствами, со сборками имба пушек, спасением мира, в конце концов. Затем предлагается пройти те же миссии, но с более сильными противниками. И так по кругу. Больше похоже на раннюю версию игры. Что примечательно, в нг+ добавляются новое оружие, но кому оно нужно, если игра уже пройдена.
В игре теперь всего один самолёт, но зато с настройками внешнего вида. Огромный список всяческого барахла, которое на него можно поставить, который, если честно, к середине игры даже листать становится лень. Хочется просто полетать, пострелять, а не ломать глаза в этом мелком интерфейсе.
Режим тестирования вооружения тоже претерпел некоторые изменения, по моему мнению не в лучшую сторону. Если раньше на тебя просто летели шары с указанием кол-ва брони и ты мог нормально потестировать урон самолёта, то здесь вокруг тебя кружат как насекомые десятки таких шаров. И невозможно понять, куда сколько урона ты нанёс.
Убрали взлом противников и объектов на карте. Убрали захват межгалактических преступников. Взлом сундуков превратили в какую-то адскую мини-игру, где ты должен за несколько секунд, управляя змейкой, собрать все квадратике на экране. Сам экран очень маленький, квадратики мелкие, змея движется очень быстро. И самое весёлое, даётся всего одна попытка, после которой сундук уничтожается.
Все пушки в магазине почему-то в единственном экземпляре. Чтобы получить ещё одну такую же, нужно пролететь одну миссию, тогда в магазин завезут новую. Почему нельзя сразу дать возможность покупать пушек сколько хочешь? Причём, если таки накопил несколько одинаковых пушек, но решил продать и попробовать другую, то, пролетев миссию, забрать обратно те пушки не сможешь. Летай и копи по-новой. Гениально...
Сюжет не ощущается от слова совсем. Нет тех красивых вставок между миссиями в виде комиксов, просто сухой текст.
За всеми минусами остаётся весёлый шмап с кучей врагов и мяса, с хорошей музыкой. Неплохой вариант скоротать пару часиков.

After almost getting 100% on it, my opinions changed on it a bit but im still somewhat mixed.
You can tell they tried to make something good, the visuals and music are great, the ideas are fun, but if you arent the type of person to replay the campaign over and over again 10 times, you probably wont get too much out of it since 1 campaign finish takes less than 2 hours.
After you finish a campaign you can restart it again from level 1 while you keep all the guns, cash and everything else and unlock new things as you go. The difficulty raise doesnt even scale with your loadouts that get so op you insta kill every last enemy, its literally just these things: Lets see how many shields we can glue to enemy ships, put some flying obstacles here and there, give the medium and above sized enemies a blue laser of obliteration. Some designs are really cool, all bosses are creative but you never see anything new apart from the level 1 boss getting a fighter plane to accompany the bomber plane, the level 3 tank getting like 2 new weapons and some flags and the final boss getting a grand total of 1 noticeable weapon change that you most likely destroy within 2 seconds anyway.
The main problem i have with it is that yes, it tries to expand upon and modernize the first game by adding realistic physics and making a bunch of platforms destroyable even tho you literally have no way to distinguish them from indestrucitbles since neither of them give any indication of taking damage and it also adds new gadgets and a few new weapons to play with, but thats about where the expanding stops because this just feels like they tried to steal...from their own damn game. This stuff takes so much from JnG Gold that you might confuse it for some random dude stealing but its the same people who worked on both games. Half the loadout if not more is guns from the first game, the game has not even 20 levels while JnG Gold has 43, A LOT of levels are just stolen ideas from the first game. Beer level? Stolen. Insect hive? Stolen. Lava planet? Stolen. Secret gumball race level? Stolen. Third level? Literally has the exact same start as the first games second level. Yeah you can say its a nice throwback but with how many throwbacks there are its hard to excuse it, like i might as well play the first game if everything is from the first game. Even an unlockable in the cargos is just the same teddy bear from the first game. Thats like whatever cause who cares about it, you just sell it anyway but theres a total of 3 other things you can find which are beer from the first game, a fish you can buy at anytime and a hotdog while the first game had tons of things to see and jokes to read.
This isnt some cashgrab or half baked game. It can be really fun but it just misses the mark too many times to make me proud of saying that this is the sequel to a game i really enjoyed when i was a kid. If you got the cash, especially when its on sale, you can go for it, there is fun to be had here, especially if you wanna do couch co-op with someone. But as a JnG Gold fan, this is sadly not it. I doubt there will ever be a JnG 3, but if the devs want to make it, i actually have high hopes. As long as they just make more new stuff, more levels that at least match the count of the first game, more wacky enemy, gun and gadget ideas and dont limit the player as much, only giving 1 ship and the task to finish a level to restock the shop, they can still make a good shoot em up.

Fast, frantic, and flashy this side scrolling shoot-em-up is a delight for the senses and features enough gameplay mechanics to back up the sizzle.
Perfect SHMUP for those who like to play the ones where you have a shield, so that you are not instantly killed by a single projectile. Loads of fun! For those who love Tyrian, Raptor,... and of course the first Jets 'n' Guns game.

Вторая наследует все традиции первой, но почему-то уже не кажется такой легендарной: она будто проще, короче, менее оригинальная и сумасбродная. С другой стороны, драйв-то в целом остался, геймплей и саундтрек все так же хороши, а графон так и вовсе сильно подтянули.
Так что мой вердикт - хорошо, но мало. Если играли в первую - берите вторую, чтоб поностальгировать. Если не играли - берите тем более, такого в наши дни больше не делают.

[i]Jets'n'Guns 2[/i] is the definition of daylight robbery.
Right from the start, when you get to the start screen, the game hits you hard with the soundtrack. And from then it just delivers on that vibe.
Very cool guns and equipment combos you can set up. I felt all powerful at the end :-) (I define the end as the point where you don't get more new equipment, but you can continue forever).
I really like this game. It is better than its predecessor in many aspects. The graphics, UI, upgardes, gameplay and the flow. Its just more fun to play (at least for me)
There are only 2 problems:
- It is WAY too short. I did beat it in 2 hours
- There is no feel of progression. Every weapon is available from the start. No other ships to unlock
I can't recommend it for full price, but at the same time I dont want to give a thumbs down. Its such a good game but its a shame that its so short

The continuation of my favorite game from my childhood. I can't say how happy I am that I managed to buy it, from my point of view it is 10/10 but shorter than I expected. Anyway, I wish only good things to the developers of this game. And I hope it won't be the last Jets n Guns
Extremely short and shallow compared to the first game. It is a good and fun game, i love it and bought it immediately it came out. If it had proper online coop, then it would be amazing.
Great soundtrack, explosive gameplay, nice variety of weapons & options.
Level-wise = little short, but still fun.
Achievement-wise = doable, but be prepared for hardcore mode, playing same levels to difficulty 10 (10x same missions over and over) and mortal kombat + tetris baby.

I don't know why but first game gave me rather bad impression about this series however this one feels more solid. For me playing with controller feels kinda "sticky" like you have to tilt joystick by certain amount in order to move your ship (not that noticeable). What this game have to be praised for is a lot of variety with foes and levels. You will not get bored and upgrade system is quite complex for such shooter. You have to be aware of your surroundings as it's fairly easy to crash on stage hazards so avoiding obstacles is as much important as dodging bullets. Music is energetic but I push it down by certain amount because it was too loud. Overall it is worth playing!

Wie auch der erste Teil wird hier totaler Wahnsinn und absolute Zerstörung bis zur letzten Patrone geboten - nun in kompakterer und extremerer Form. Verschiedene Waffensysteme und andere Upgrades für das Schiff können überraschende und tödliche Kombinationen erzeugen. Neu hinzugefügte Ultra Fähigkeiten ermöglichen es das Blatt in schweren Situationen doch noch zu drehen. Nett ist es in einem Test-Level Waffenkombinationen auszuprobieren. In höheren Durchläufen der Kampagne wird das Ausmaß des Wahnsinns deutlich...und man kann einfach nicht aufhören weiterzuschießen.
Sehr gut gelungen, Action ohne Ende, begleitet von fetziger Musik. Ich bin definitiv bereit für mehr. Die Entwicklung, die Jets'n'Guns mit seinem zweiten Teil einschlägt, ist definitiv ein Plus für noch mehr Wahnsinn! Danke für dieses Erlebnis!

it's good, and brings the franchise up to date, but it makes me sad that this game feels so unfinished. it has so much less than the first game. first game had more levels, more ships, more weapons, just plain more of everything. in many ways, i still prefer the first game.

По інакшому дане ЛЕГЕНДАРНЕ!!!! [b]ОЛДСКУЛ!!!![/b] продовження нікомуневідомої літалки з неймовірним саундтреком не опишеш. В минулому думав що друга частина буде святим граалем - але через самонакрутку відбувся т.з. "обхез трусів".
І грає тут роль не [i]"ностальгія"[/i] і [i]"в 7 років ти дayн ayтист і навіть контра страйк 1.6 здається шедевром"[/i] - а те що формула гри пішла на даунгрейд.
В першій частині ми мали [b]сорок[/b] з xyйoм рівнів. З [b]нормальним[/b] xyйoм. Ми мали катсцени в виді гоміксів, норм так сюжет з категорії "фляга свистить", sex.png і оверсайз пapaшу розміром з космічний корабель.
В другій частині ми маємо 12 рівнів - [b]xyй відсутній повністю[/b]. Хіба трішечки він відчувається на губах, особливо між рівнями - бо в переході між ними тебе не супроводжує катсцена. Секретки ролі не грають, кастомізація твого драндулєта лише візуальна - автори надихнулись чудиськами з авторії які перепродають шкоди фабії в ціну гольфа, а з залізом від авео.
Але ж автор рецензії! Ти що, їбанат? Бовдур? [b]ТЕ-ЛЕ-ПЕНЬ!?[/b] Чому ж позитивний відгук! А я тобі от розкажу.
1. Томас Шелбі з'явиться в якості антагоніста в Фар Край 7 - [b]перевірений інсайдер.[/b]
2. Графон хороший. Стилістику проїбали лише частково, бо душі в формі катсцен нема. Сам дизайн ворогів та босів досі непоганий.
3. Гойплейно не прям "сільска самокрутка" [i](Примітка автора: мені казали що в селах курять коров'яче гівно в папірці. Інформація може бути недостовірна)[/i]. Стало казуальніше, але і динамічніше. Мапдизайн - великий плюс. Стволи нормас, але прибамбаси в виді ґаджетів це не найкраща спроба замінити апгрейд борта.
4. Автори саундтреку - всі ж ті легендарні [b]Machinae Supremacy.[/b]
Овералл - ситуація як з РПГ серії "Фолоут" - а саме третім і н'ю бердичевом - грати Jets'n'Guns 2 треба [b]виключно[/b] перед Jets'n'Guns Gold. Бо в зворотньому випадку, ви будете строчити ахінею ще гіршу, чим цей відгук.
Я рекомендую дану гру, [b]вона хороша[/b] - просто не порівняно з оригінальною першою частиною. Авторам єбєйший +респект за те що видали сіквел аж через 13 років після релізу ґолда.
Може це і явно не те продовження, яке я очікував - але я б явно не був задоволеним, якби ця гра не існувала взагалі.

One of the most fun games I have ever played. Very unique ideas. Super inovative end bosses.
Very approachable Shmup for people like me who love this genre, but are bad at it.
The Casual difficulty setting is an amazing addition for me that the first game lacked, which allows me to replay previous levels for more money if I ever get stuck. (Which I did not even need to do, but it's awesome that it's there!)
Your ship has a health bar, which is one of the most important things to have for me in a Shmup, because I 100% will get hit and usually am unable to beat Shmups where you are a oneshot.
The game is rather short at around 2 hours, but it makes up for it in replay value and NewGame+ mode, because the game has an OVERWHELMING amount of guns and equipment available, letting you customize your loadout in an insane amount of ways. I haven't even touched like more than 15% of the buyable items in my first playthrough. And items buy and sell for the same exact price, even after upgrading! So you never lose money when experimenting with different loadouts and upgrading things. You can always sell everything back for 100% of what you spent.
For me this makes it an amazing and approachable Shmup, sitting amongst the greats like Tyrian 2000.
Enjoyable! This game reminds me of the old shareware demos that often arrived with magazines such as CD gamer, alongside the more "major" releases. It has that oldschool type of indie-game feeling that is hard to find these days. The game itself is a very simple side-scrolling action game, and the graphics are very nice and detailed, although things can get quite cluttered at times. An easy recommend for me, though the price-point is maybe a bit too high for my tastes.
С одной стороны отличное, а с другой какое-то вымученное, как будто из-под палки сделанное продолжение. Всё вроде взрывается, горит, падает с небес на землю в слоу-мо, освещая вспышкой весь экран, но как-то слишком быстро. Слишком поверхностно, что ли. Будто бы вдохновения не было, только профессионализм. И он, конечно, вывозит, но... маловато будет.
Хотя работа над ошибками не оригинала, но его переиздания проделана изрядная. Больше никаких дополнительных корпусов, совершенно бесполезных, сама игра сильно короче, даже чем оригинал, но и унылых бесполезных уровней, как в переиздании, здесь тоже нет. В прокачке корабля вообще сделан огромный скачок вперёд: теперь в корпус всё не влезет, нужно буквально выстраивать билд и менять его по мере надобности. Есть оружие, как фронтальное, так и тыловое, есть ракеты и бомбы, есть разные усиления для оружия, спецспособности корабля, усиления самого корпуса, и всё это ещё и синергирует друг с другом.
Проблемы со всем этим начинаются на перепрохождениях на более высоких сложностях, когда противники усиливаются настолько невменяемо подчас, что ты просто вынужден выискивать правильный билд, просто чтобы выжить хотя бы на пару секунд подольше. Судите сами: врагов больше, они сильнее, они защищены щитами, они разбрасывают за собой мины, гоняющиеся за нашим кораблём, враги оставляют после своей смерти подарки, взрывающиеся на весь экран, по всему уровню появляются силовые барьеры и железные стены, а заодно вращающиеся турникеты, которые ещё и неуничтожимы. Разобрать, что происходит на экране, практически невозможно, а единственный билд, способный провести тебя через эту вакханалию - это висящий в центре экрана корабль, заполоняющий всё пространство своими снарядами. Не видно буквально ничего, зато ты выиграл.
И всё это несколько раздражает, но вот проблема: оторваться просто невозможно. Раз за разом я возвращался в этот ад и не мог от него оторваться. И чёрт его знает почему.
Ещё здесь интересный, хоть и простенький, гибрид тетриса с Mortal Kombat, но это надо видеть.

i haven't played JnG 1 in a long time but if you liked it back then you like part 2
it's more of the same in a good and bad way - many levels seem to be like the ones in part 1 - that means graphic sets as well as the level design - a lot seemed well known.
one thing is (on normal) you cannot farm the levels multiple times, don't know if it was the same in part 1, but that makes the game sometimes frustrating if you want to upgrade or buy new weapons.

I love the first game. But this "Sequal" is a downgrade in almost every way.
This game is much shorter and is lacking in the gameplay diversity of the original. You don't get to fly or buy any different ships. The story is told though description boxes when selecting the different planets, instead of the awesome comic panels from the first game. And the story itself is boring and has nothing to do with the original.
A couple of positives for it would be that you can replay any specific level you want. And There are a lot of ways to customize the equipment on your ship.
I also found the game somewhat buggy. There was a point where the final boss glitched out and I wasn't able to damage it, forcing a restart. The music would sometime cut out. And the menus were kind of spastic.
About the only thing that may be a definitive upgrade is the music. It has a really good soundtrack.

I'm giving this game a positive review even with its problems.
The games core gameplay, visuals and movement are leaps better than the original in every aspect but it heavily lacks in levels only taking 1.3 hours to complete compare that to 1 which took around 11 for a first time play through.
It also lacks elements from the original like new ships where changing ships drastically impacts the gameplay.
Another problem is that the game is far to easy even on hard, yes the games built around you going to NG+++++ for the difficulty but not many people in general go for NG+ in games also in the original you get new ships when doing NG+.
Very disapointed in J&G1 & 2 as they both DO NOT RUN ON STEAMDECK! Both crash to desktop. Tried everything, no such luck. They both play well on PC. These type games are perfect for the SD TOO. . .
