Я давно играл в эту игру, и она была намнооого проще и приятнее в управлении.
Походу версия игры Gold продаётся с завышенной сложностью, иначе я не могу объяснить как каждое столкновение с кораблём противника снимает половину прочности, в то время как выстрелы наносят не так уж и много урона. У меня проходить один и тот же уровень по 100 раз на стартовом тарантасе желания нет. Управление на мышке невероятно отвратительное и выполнять финты на дёрганном корабле не хочется. Так же как не хочется закрывать игру на 100%, ачивки в игре максимально тягомотные и гриндовые, посмотрел что нужно для их выполнения, и вот они насовсем убили всякое желание возвращаться к игре.
Никому не советую эту игру к прохождению, даже несмотря на красивый визуал и хорошую музыку играть в Jets'n'Guns Gold больно.
4/10 самолётов камикадзе в борт разрабу.

Being a PC player, I did not have access to famous shmup games such as R-Type, Galaga, Gradius and Thunder Force. Granted, there were many worthy shmups available on PC storefronts such as Airstrike 3D and Astro Avenger (which featured music tracks from who later went on to compose music for The Witcher 3), but none of them felt truly special. I mean... even with all of the differences, the games felt the same; With most of them just being another "ship shooting other ships in space". None of them tried to drastically outdo its competitors because no one felt the need to do that...
[h2]And then came Jets'n'Guns[/h2]
It's not hard to see why Jets'n'Guns became a cult classic and acquired a small, yet very dedicated fanbase that still fondly remember it. This game went [b][i]way too hard[/i][/b] on the audiovisual spectacle in a time when PC games were mostly casual experiences and almost no one tried to go above and beyond, greeting the players who booted it up with something they never expected to see in a game like that.
It was pretty hard to be a kid and not get thrilled by all of the awesome stuff that appeared in front of your eyes while playing this game. The levels were filled to the brim with enemy ships and the environment exploding in spectacular fashion, leaving a path of utter destruction behind. And all of the carnage that you unleashed was accompanied by music tracks from Machinae Supremany; A Swedish SID Metal band that you might have heard some of their works either through their albums, or games like Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams and Bionic Commando.
Now, I'm honestly not a fan of all of the tracks, but those that I like are honestly really good and energetic, either completely fitting the game's explosive identity and the frantic action that goes on in the levels (like the opening music and the "Missiles of Metal" track) or simply having the composers going too hard on something that really didn't need a lot of time and attention dedicated to it (the shop theme).
[h2]The Dark Souls of shmups - Probably some reviewer[/h2]
Unfortunately though, a lot of us back then were unable to get to and enjoy everything the game had to offer as it was, and still is, really hard. Jets'n'Guns is a [b][i]brutal[/i][/b] shmup game, to the point that even a simple task such as beating a single level can become impossible, even on the lowest difficulty. As for why this is the case, certain factors are involved.
For starters, the game has a lot of gameplay features to keep an eye on. The money you earn is directly tied to the amount of destruction you cause, so you absolutely have to upgrade your firepower to be able to inflict as much damage as possible. Not only that, each level might have different hazards in it, rendering some of your equipment useless and forcing you to replace them for an optimal playthrough. And while managing all of this, you also have to watch out for your ships' cooling systems, as each upgraded weapon generates a specific amount of heat and will temporarily cease to function if it overheats.
Then we have the levels progressively getting harder and harder, with stronger enemies arriving in higher numbers, and having more deadly environmental hazards to look out for. These prompt you to also watch out for your ships' hull integrity (HP), as not only any kind of physical contact with the enemies or the environment causes you to lose health, but also the screen sometimes gets flooded with enemy projectiles. So you absolutely need enough health available to tank the hits (something the game advices you to do whenever necessary), survive to the end of each level, and face the bosses at the end of some of them.
Even though the shop system is designed in a way to prevent most monetary softlocks by keeping the shop prices the same and allowing you to sell your equipment for the exact price that your bought them, this game still requires you to bring your A-game or it will make you regret it later, especially if you play it on any difficulty other than easy. But sometimes, even doing that might not be enough, as the game does also utilize some unfair tactics to challenge the player.
[h2]Everyone is here... literally...[/h2]
Jets'n'Guns consiously makes use of every single one of the most prevalent issues in shmup games in order to increase its difficulty with. The entirety of your ship has an active hitbox and will get damaged as you make contact with enemies and the enviroment. The focus on causing desctruction will create tons of explosions on screen, which can mask incoming projectiles and threats such as grounded oil tanks that shoot upwards and explode after taking damage. Some of the enemy projectiles are pretty thin, thus hard to see in chaotic situations. Even enemies arrive from above and behind you without any prior warning.
As much as I love the game for shaping up my interest in shmup games, I really cannot defend it here, as it would be hypocrititcal of me to complain about other games having these issues and not do it here because of nostalgia. There were [b][i]so many moments[/i][/b] when my ship suddenly blew up, with me not knowing what the hell actually happened and how the hell I got hit, just to realize what the reason was a few attempts later. Now, some might try to defend this by bringing up the fact that every shmup requires a certain amount of pattern/level memorization. But I'm sure many of those who say that will change their minds after I mention the level lengths.
The levels in Jets'n'Guns are very long, longer than probably any shmup you have played so far (probably with the exception of Raptor: Call of the Shadows), to the point that each level is broken into several parts through mid-level checkpoints. Additionally, these checkpoints save your ship's current status (HP and cooling) alongside level progression. So, most of the time, it's much more preferable to load your last save file rather than try to continue from the latest checkpoint. Add the fact that the game is NOT an arcade shmup and has over 40 stages to the mix (instead of 4-7 stages which is the norm for arcade shmups), and you can easily see why replaying every level and memorizing the patterns is probably not a good idea here.
So, after all I have said so far, would I recommend Jets'n'Guns?
Despite the game having a special place for me, I really cannot recommend it to the masses. Those who are newcomers to the shmup genre or play these games casually will find themselves utterly stumped with Jets'n'Guns and its very high difficulty. Arcade shmup purists will never bring themselves to try this game due to how wildly different it is compared to what they always play. And the others? If the visual clutter/clarity issues are not enough to deter them, the game's technical complications and the mouse movement emulation in its menus (as it was originally a PC game designed with older technologies and also mouse input in mind) would certainly cause some headaches.
Still, there are things to like in this game. The music is amazing, the presentation is chaotic, and the overall experience you get is way different compared to what you have experienced in other shmups so far. Therefore, I can only recommend playing this game to those who already have a sense of nostalgia for it, or those who are willing to deal with its many shortcomings to experience something different.

Can't be recommended to everyone as its brutal difficulty, various shortcomings and gameplay style will act as deterrents. Old fans and those wanting to try different things will make the most of it.
A complete nostalgia pick for me. I played original Jets 'n' Guns waaay back in the day on PC and remember enjoying it, even if it was super difficult. Seriously, playing it right now I don't even understand how did I managed to beat it back then.
So Jets 'n' Guns is a bullethell shmup set in a ridiculous space setting with niche references and absurd humour. The player is a retired war hero that became a freelance bounty hunter after war ended. The starts out by doing low-level jobs for horrible people, but by chance the hero will be hired by his old commander and recruited into the fight agains space pirates that are planning to end the whole universe.
The story is told by comic-book style still images between each mission, but can easily be ignored. If you are here to just shoot stuff and watch explosions, it will be fine. The one thing I personally remember about the story in the first game is that it was one of the first times ever I was disappointed by the game's ending. As a kid, going at that time through prbably hardest game I ever played, getting that was actually insulting. Thankfully it was changed slightly in the Gold edition, so it's not as bad, but still the whole idea behind the ending didn't change.
The game launches in a tiny window in the middle of the screen and when switching to full screen resolution doesn't change. So, while using a high-resolution monitor there will be a lot of blurry pixels because of sprites being psuhed to their limit. At least it doesn't take a lot of resources, but if you somehow got 640x480 monitor to play retro stuff on, this might be time to break it out. At least the game runs smooth and there were no major bugs to speak of.
And I need to mention great soundtrack. This fusion of chiptune and metal is addictive and fun as hell. And Shopmusic, the track that is playing between each mission, is one of the best pieces of videogame music of all time.
The game is very difficult, so if you are not shmup master, I would recommend starting on an easy difficulty. After the ending the game begins again on higher difficulty, think Dark Souls NG+ mode, with your ship and upgrades intact. The gameplay is simple, fly from left to right, avoid attacks, shoot everything that tries to hit you. There are some cute little quirks though. There are a lot of secerts throughout the levels. Depending on your upgrades, you can also earn additional items and unlock new interactions, like capturing certain minibosses or unlocking cargo boxes, that act like literal loot boxes with their rewards from useless trivia, to valuables that you can sell for decent sum of money.
The money is very important, since you will have to constantly upgrade your ship and weapons. Experimenting with your arsenal is key to having easier time in this hell. And don't forget to upgrade shields and aromr, since the game really like to throw ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ your way with attacks that you probably will have no chance avoinding. There is literally a boss in the game who will force in situations where you can't avoid his bullets and will get hit. Tanking small projectiles is absolutely a viable strategy.
Overall, it's fun little shmup and is ok if you want something simple, but difficult to sink your time in. Shmups are still my blind spot in gaming, so I would try to compare this to some classics in the genre. But I think this one is pretty fun.
Love this game so much (especially since it's Machinae supremacy whom has made the sound track for it!)

I've tried to play this game on and off for a literaly decade and each time I give up - this time for good. The game is rather difficult but it's more of a problem where that difficulty comes from. It's hard to read what are enemy projects, what are yours and what is just flaming debris from destroyed ships.
To make it worse, enemies constantly spawn from all edges of the screen so you are forced to either hover near the center, or, more likely, memorize enemy wave locations so you don't clash into them. And that was just not fun. Upgrades and music are fine enough, but I don't think I'll be giving this classing another chance.

Ale pozor na to, že u Atarixové minihry se špatně zobrazují nápovědy, proto doporučuji do doby, než si odemknete automatiku, na manuální cracknutí hru uložit a přepnout zpět do angličtiny.
Asi to není jediný problém, ještě jsem zpozoroval, že se v průběhu určitého levelu (myslím, že pivního) někdy zobrazí část useknutého textu, která má být zřejmě něčím jiným. A také se neodemykají Steam achievementy.
[h1]JAK SE HRAJE[/h1]
Hra "Jets'n'Guns Gold" má 3 startovní OBTÍŽNOSTI – snadná, normální, těžká. Osobně jsem normální ukončil a začal znovu na snadnou, a i tak mně to přišlo zprvu obtížné. Je nutné najít si vhodnou VÝBAVU a správná VYLEPŠENÍ pro konkrétní situace, tj. levely. A také pochopit, že hráč není nijak penalizován za zpětný odkup, takže lze vesele zkoušet nakupovat a prodávat bez ztráty PENĚZ. Před zahájením levelu je možné si nainstalovanou výbavu VYZKOUŠET v menu hry červeným tlačítkem (T). Škoda jen, že v katalogu zbraní není krátká animace, jak střelba vypadá, to by výběr značně usnadnilo. Takhle nezbývá než třeba něco prodat, koupit jinou zbraň, tu nainstalovat na stroj a vyzkoušet. Pokud zbraň nevyhovuje, tak se to opakuje a opakuje. Nicméně až si hráč osahá pár zbraní a zprvu si jich ani moc dovolit nemůže, tak si najde oblíbené. A ty dražší si může dovolit postupně později, takže je pak může čas od času takto vyzkoušet. Někdy lze v průběhu levelu získat NOVOU ZBRAŇ, kterou nelze jinak koupit, lze ji jen vylepšit, nebo prodat za 0. Koupené nebo takto získané zbraně mají NEKONEČNOU MUNICI. Ale hra občas přidá do inventáře ZBRAŇ K OTESTOVÁNÍ (je v obrázku označena např. jako "trial") a taková zbraň přestane po určité době střílet. Mezi levely je komiksově vyprávěn humorný DĚJ a také jsou občas sdělovány HERNÍ TYPY. Hráč se tak např. dozví, že ho čeká nutnost bombardování, takže je třeba nakoupit a nainstalovat bomby apod. Nebo naopak, že bomby nepotřebuje a může je tedy prodat.
Během levelu lze sbírat NÁKLAD ze sestřelených nákladních lodí. Bedny jsou však zašifrované a pro jejich odemčení se používá zařízení Atarix (zde pozor na využití češtiny, viz část Instalace výše). Ten má DVA REŽIMY. Automatický je zprvu nespolehlivý, šance na úspěch je jen 10 %, ale s každým manuálním cracknutím bedny se šance zvyšuje o 10 %. Stačí tedy manuálně otevřít 9 beden a další už odemykáte automaticky se 100% jistotou cracknutí kódu. Manuální cracknutí je ve formě MINIHRY, která se podobá hře Logik. Je třeba uhodnout 4místný číselný kód s možností opakování číslic. Po každém pokusu je pro každou pozici barevně označeno – červeně, že číslice v kódu není; žlutě, že v kódu je, ale ne na této pozici; zeleně, že je tato číslice správně. Hra se asi částečně ukládá sama, ale je tu i RUČNÍ UKLÁDÁNÍ do jedné z 9 pozic. To lze využít pro laborování se zbraněmi případně si zajistit možnost opakování prolamování kódů z výše zmíněných beden, takže stačí hru uložit a pokud je potřeba vrátit předchozí stav, stačí pozici načíst.
Ve hře se postupně odemykají a kvůli vysoké ceně zpřístupňují nejen zbraně, ale také STROJE, na které se zbraně montují. Každý stroj má své počáteční vlastnosti, které většinou lze omezeně VYLEPŠIT. Součástí je i množství a typ ZBRAŇOVÝCH SYSTÉMŮ (přední, zadní, bomby, rakety). To přímo ovlivňuje palebnou sílu stroje, základní model má pouze jedny bomby a dvě přední pozice. Dále se u lepší strojů rozšiřuje možná DOPLŇUJÍCÍ VÝBAVA a vylepšení. Jako základní je vylepšování pancéřování a chlazení. PANCÉŘOVÁNÍ přirozeně ovlivňuje odolnost trupu. CHLAZENÍ je zcela klíčové v kombinaci s výběrem zbraní. Každá ZBRAŇ MÁ TOTIŽ TŘI PARAMETRY – ničivou sílu, rychlost střelby a případně i určitý stupeň zahřívání při střelbě. Pokud zbraň přehřeje stroj jste dočasně bezbranní, než alespoň trochu teplota klesne. Máte-li tedy neúčinné chlazení musíte si vybrat co nejúčinnější zbraň, která se nejlépe vůbec nezahřívá. To vám poskytne nepřetržitý proud projektilů. Pár dalších vylepšení stroje je leckdy humorné aplikování různých UKAZATELŮ – ukazatel dokončení levelu v procentech, detekce bossů, identifikace pirátů, jejichž ničení přináší vyšší odměnu. Případně lze své akce přenášet do REALITY SHOW, kde se vám zvýší odměna za ničení čehokoli, nejlépe v masovém měřítku se spoustou krve (ta lze v menu vypnout). Vyšší modely strojů mají k dokoupení např. štít, ochranné rotující koule či speciální pole, které omezuje kontakt s překážkou, takže už tak snadno nebudete bourat a ničit tak svůj stroj. A ještě třeba zmíním možnost dokoupit jetpack, takže po zničení stroje přežijete a můžete tak se štěstím dokončit level jako téměř bezbranný kosmonaut.
PO DOKONČENÍ HRY můžete hrát znovu. Sice jsem nezpozoroval, že by mě hra informovala, ale v diskuzích jsem se dočetl, že každé dokončení hry ZVÝŠÍ OBTÍŽNOST. Také dokončení hry na nejvyšší počáteční těžkou obtížnost není finální obtížností a hra se dále mění. Nejen, že jsou TUŽŠÍ NEPŘÁTELÉ, ale jak potvrdili vývojáři, dokonce se pak ZVYŠUJE POČET NEPŘÁTEL. Hru si tak můžete užívat dokola a dokola. Jelikož vám ZŮSTANE VÝBAVA A PENÍZE, tak můžete směle dál vylepšovat výbavu a arsenál. Odehrál jsem pár levelů a konečně to byla taková bezstarostná zábava, kdy se většina nepřátel ani pořádně nedostala na obrazovku a už byly zničeni. To pak umožní kochat se levely a hledat dříve minutá tajemství.
[h1]CHYBY VE HŘE[/h1]
Hra špatně používá v systému nastavené měřítko monitoru. Pro 4K monitory je doporučeno 150% měřítko a hra toto zvětšení používá i v celoobrazovkovém režimu, takže je pak logicky pravá třetina obrazu s menu hry mimo obrazovku a nedostupná očím i pro kurzor. Naštěstí funguje zkratka ALT+Enter pro přepínání mezi celoobrazovkovým zobrazením a zobrazením v okně.
Jelikož mám dva monitory a druhý nemá ani FullHD, tak na něm je 100% měřítko. Takže po spuštění hry ji na hlavním 4K monitoru přepínám do okna, pak okno přesouvám na druhý monitor, kde hru opět přepnu na celou obrazovku druhého monitoru. Pokud tuto možnost nemáte, je potřeba před spuštěním hry v systému Windows nastavit 100% měřítko (PTM na ploše, Nastavení obrazovky, Měřítko a rozložení = 100%).

Delightfully retarded. Requires you to hold down the attack button, but I managed to set up an attack toggle using Steam Input after a lot of faffing about. You will need to use the mouse to operate menus & shops. Lack of Steam Cloud support is annoying (you will lose your save data if you uninstall).
Back in the mid 2000s I spent several hours on the original version of JnG and I was curious to check if it was only nostalgia. The answer is: yes and no at the same time.
It was judged one of the best indie shmups on PC at the time, likely because there simply weren't many alternatives on PC yet (outside of emulation of other systems); the flashy presentation helped.
The levels, beside some moments of pure carnage, are far too long most times (there are passages that look pasted multiple times) and move forward at a plodding pace.
The shooting is nothing refined either - the whole ship is an hitbox and even in-game tips recommend to tank some damage, so the strategy is rather to become strong enough that you can wipe out any incoming enemy, which however risks making levels just waiting to be over because no challenge is left.
But that doesn't mean the game can't be fun, quite the opposite.
It's quite accessible and perfect for turning your brain off, offers a level of scenery destruction rarely seen in a game of this genre, a great soundtrack (I recommend turning the sound effects to minimum to enjoy better), and a really huge arsenal of weapons, so much there's even a device that allows to equip more than one loadout and switch on the fly; furthermore, selling a weapon gives back the same money spent for buying firsthand, so there's much more space for experimentation as you can always go back from a loadout that doesn't satisfy you.
The game is also quite long even if, once again, I wish levels were shorter; if they were halved, the game would still have plenty to offer - and you need a few loops to get all the ships.
Not a "classic" in the genre but one to possibly rediscover.
This game is tough..so when you start - go with the casual mode..otherwise you will suffer dying a lot..i feel this game is good and having played so many shmups over the years, i think this one is the "wackiest". it feels like tyrian but way way way wackier and with lots and lots and lots of weapons...crazy ones too. Get this on discount and you will have a blast, but the levels feels all too similar and with annoyances in between when you go from ship -> crew mode..and back...your weapons get unequipped and you have to re-equip them back..really annoying but otherwise i think the game is good.
JNG2 is much better to me (although shorter). Some levels in JNG Gold are downright annoying and difficult to win that I had to use cheats to skip the level..yeah i'm a cheater...some of those levels are not enjoyable at all.
if you have the choice between JNG Gold & JNG2 - go with JNG2 unless you really just want to give JNG gold a try (no harm, i do recommend it for the price if you buy the bundle, but on its own its not worth it). Get it on discount obviously.
A certified hood classic of over-the-top destruction and pure side-scrolling fun that’s still worth playing today, despite the modest looks. Pretty accessible by the genre’s standards (you don’t need to be a bullet hell god to ace it) yet challenging enough to always feel engaging and satisfying. Features a lot of weapons, upgrades, devices or other build options and promotes actively experimenting with them yet equally rewards dodging and shooting skills in the moment. Also a quite expansive experience, having 43 levels that should take at least 8-10 hours and are totally worth an NG+ replay or two (though probably not ten like the achievements suggest).
They aren’t merely a collection of 43 random levels plus token text descriptions either – there is a proper and decently funny story about an intergalactic world-saving adventure, delivered through charming comic strips shown in between the stages. The humor can be a bit crass, and there are some grammar mistakes, but they do a splendid job at connecting the set pieces together, and they feel brimming with imagination just like one of the game’s clear inspirations, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
A special mention goes to the brilliant OST, which works both as a separate collection of catchy metal tunes and as a perfect mood-maker for the process, making every level twice as epic and/or atmospheric. While certainly better-looking and overall worth playing, it’s a much more flawed and less complete game, so I’d still recommend starting here. A lot of the player base for both titles consists of people who happened to discover and fell in love with the original back in the 00s, but even if you’ve just stumbled upon them, I highly invite you to join.

It's a classic, I pretty much grew up with this game and occasionally would re-visit and never run out of new way to enjoy it. The details put in this game cannot be stressed enough, although most of them are ludicrous and over-the-to but they just fit in the context of the setting so yea it just works. Other than that, the soundtracks are without a doubt the most distinguished part of the game that keeps the excitement going for a long period of time.

I decided to fire it up again, nearly 10 years since I first played it, and oh well, it didn't take long to remember why I was disappointed. In fact, level 2 is where it all came back to me.
It's tedious. Very, very tedious and very difficult.
I don't like the heat mechanic, and the fact that touching a solid kills you almost immediately. What is this, a game for the NES? Redoing the same level over and over is not fun when the level is long.
Visually, it's nice but there's always too much going on, sometimes it's hard to see bullets/hazards. The music is good.
Every couple of years I do a playthrough of this gem, it's probably nostalgia but this is my favorite SHMUP sidescroller. The game SCREAMS Czechia. Back when I was a kid, I found the amount of weapons and upgrades mind blowing, and it still is today, I don't think any shmup compares to this one with the amount of available guns. Also, the older I am the harder the game gets for some reason, I don't remember having this much trouble with some levels. Most of them are fun but every 5 or so levels I get absolutely stuck and have to repeat and repeat.. Get it
I got this game for free with another bundle, and normally I'd just move on, but I had a look at the reviews and it sparked an interest in giving it a go... and I'm glad I did.
First impressions are of some serious nostalgia; if you were around for the early 16 bit and PC days, you'll recognise the garish palette from when how many colours you could push on screen was still as sign of the best hardware, just before the How Many Polygons? era took over. Gameplay and graphic design is reminiscent of 2s side scrolling Shoot 'Em Ups like Silkworm ... a reference which is made clear by one of the later secrets...
But what of the game itself? Play it on Normal, and it's brutally tough at first; but don't be afraid to go back to the easiest mode as the game is clearly designed (and the Achievements make it even more obvious) to be played through multiple times as your cash and upgrades carry through runs. After which it becomes, also like the mid 90s - early 2000s SHMUPs (like Xenon 2) a power fantasy where you have increasingly insane weapons to wreck everything that moves.
There are secrets, but you don't need to worry about those unless going for the 100% Achievements, as the weapons are outclassed by in game store purchases, the cash reward is tiny, and the best of the secret ships in game is in an almost unmissable spot, with further upgrades being just for beating more and more levels.
The plot and humour? Very incoherent, sometimes almost juvenile, but never offensively so, and keeps the tone light hearted.
Gameplay? Good, it gets the movement to feel smooth, and the attack waves to feel fair, the main element which makes side scrollers fun; but you may burn out long before the 10 or more runs required to 100% everything if starting on Easy, as you will start to get overpowered by about 2/3rds through the 43 levels. If you started on Normal or above, you'll feel you've earned that god like status for sure, but unless you're a true completionist, get your fun and get out when you want.
There are however even more insane weapons and ships waiting ahead if you continue however, and it becomes something that's fun to just pick up and play when you feel like seeing insane amounts of particles fly about the screen and things melt away... You know, typing that, it reminds me of a decades later retro-throw back success; Vampire Survivors. Jets N Guns has the same pixel madness casual end game vibe too.
Well worth getting now it's dirt cheap.
It's old, but it's gold. Better than the new game.
Ok so... Most probably if u are a shmup player you will not like this... but it has very good original ideas... Its like tower defense with mobility or something like that.

[*] Прекрасная концепция "продавай за ту же цену, за какую купил". Всегда можно просто разменять оружие, апгрейды и транспорт на что-то другое, не теряя заработанных денег. Игра поощрает эксперименты!!!
[*] Есть целые мемные зоны, которые, как говорят, появились лишь в Gold издании. Но они тоже классные и интересные, и в первую очередь про уникальность.

[*] Поддержка геймпада с нотками боли. Во-первых, если геймпад не включён на старте игры - игра его уже не увидит. Нужно запускать именно с включённым. Во-вторых, в игре нет полноценной навигации на геймпаде. То есть чтобы тыкнуть пункт меню вы будете управлять курсором-стрелочкой через левый стик.
[*] У игры нет логического финала, и это печалит. То есть, есть что-то вроде титров, есть что-то вроде босса в финале, но история зациклена так, что фактического The End никогда не наступает. От этого возникает ощущение, что есть несколько концовок, и True Ending где-то за поворотом среди кучи секретов. Но нет, тут только одна концовка, не стоит обманываться.

Из-за возможности безвозмездно продавать ранее взятые штуки, вы будете постоянно менять транспорт и экипировку, решая что для вас лучше в целом или на данном уровне. Простор для экспериментов просто ОГРОМНЫЙ.
На моей памяти, ни один шутем-ап и близко не дарил такой приятной свободы.

Единственная претензия у меня к неадекватным ачивкам. 10 раз пройти игру, серьёзно? Я прошёл её на харде и НГ+ это просто мелькание огромного кол-ва моих снарядов. Враги даже не успевают вылететь и дохнут за пределами экрана. Никакого интереса в этом нет. И что мне 40-50 часов нужно этим заниматься?

Когда-то, году в 2005-м проходил локализованную версию от 1С. Это был игровой шедевр. Был идеальный баланс сложности, веселья, шикарной музыки, визуала и юмора. Это было прекрасно.
На распродаже купил Jets'n'Guns 2 и решил перепройти 1-ю часть. Но как оказалось, Gold - это не тот Jets'n'Guns, что я проходил раньше. Я не знаю, может быть, они не тестировали игру с клавиатуры, а, может, кто-то решил "слегка" подкрутить сложность. Но перезапуск КАЖДОГО уровня по 40 раз на протяжении ВСЕЙ игры - это перебор. Я уже подобрался к середине, но всё ещё летаю на первоначальном "Гоблине", потому что либо ты покупаешь корабль и играешь в пацифиста без оружия, либо ты летаешь на фанере, но хоть кого-то заваливаешь. Кстати, покупка кораблей - первое, что мне бросилось здесь в глаза. В изначальной версии этого не было. Через 3-4 уровня наступал уровень, где ты крадёшь новый корабль с кучей слотов и возможностями апгрейда, и дальше ты его развиваешь всю игру. И именно этот корабль на обложке и постерах, а не "Гоблин". А тут уже просто не интересно играть, потому что куча уровней пройдено, а развивать ничего не получается из за нехватки средств. И это дико бесит, потому что напоминает взрослую жизнь, где спустя 15 лет трудового стажа всё, что ты смог накопить - это квартиру в ипотеку и ноутбук, а твоей зарлпты всё ещё хватает только на базовые потребности + какие-то мелочи. Я в игру пришёл играть, чтобы спрятаться от "взрослой" жизни, а не влезать в неё опять!
Итого, Gold по сравнению со старой версией:
- Сложность сильно выше
- В транспортных ящиках теперь ВСЕГДА только мусор. Максимум, попалась кредитка за 7000.
- Появились сомнительные уровни типа войны с пивом или дурацкой гонки через чекпоинты (это вообще издевательство)
- Развитие корабля и огневой мощи существенно замедлилось.
Короче, Gold версия больше бесит, чем радует.
Поищите лучше старую 1С версию.
Gets'n'guns 2 - тоже отлично. Там ещё и вдвоём можно играть.

Graphiquement c est fin , tres fin mais trop petit pour mes yeux de vieux joueurs... Ca explose de partout et impossible d eviter quoique se soit c est vraiment (dommage!!) brouillon ! On explose sans savoir pourquoi et l aramement devient une veritable course a l echalote sans qu on sache quoi prendre pour avoir un bon equipement .... Bref c est du nawak ....
Les graphismes sont parfaits et l animation est plutot bonne mais l ecran de jeu est tout petit petit et c est peut etre son plus grand defaut !

One of the best shmups out there. Fun story, tons of content, tons of weapons, amazing soundtrack. Be prepared to eat ♥♥♥♥ in some missions, though, the game can be quite unforgiving at times.

Развернуто: это vampire survivors моего отрочества. Такая же залипательная спиномозговая игра. В нулевых на джевелах крайне редко выходили подобные игры, потому я думал, что этот жанр остался только на древних приставках или дисках "100 игр на одном CD". Но JnG хвалили, поэтому я приобщился и не пожалел.
Геймплей затягивает, формула успешной игры этого жанра давно выведена. Здесь ее грамотно повторили. Ты стреляешь с разных пушек в штуки. Штук много. Штуки стреляют в ответ. Штуки ярко взрываются, когда умирают. Человечки разлетаются на кровавые ошметки, в панике смешно бегают без голов. Боссы разные, жирные, требуют особых подходов. Доступных пушек много и за одно прохождение все не распробуешь.
Игра с успехом разнообразит условия миссий: полетать приходится даже в спасательной капсуле-кресле, сжечь гнездо космических жуков, устроить кровавую массакру на концерте.
Между уровнями можно закупиться новыми пушками, проапгрейдить или поменять корабль.
Графика не устарела за 20 лет, выстрелы и бабахи красивые, но почти никогда не перекрывают обзор.
Мои любимые миссии на планетах, потому что можно расстреливать человечков и насладиться старым добрым ультранасилием.
Первый апгрейд, который нужно ставить - CarnageTV, потому что ничто так не радует, как счетчик убийств в углу. Я думаю, что это - оммаж Горячим головам 2.
Игру приятно иногда перепроходить за вечерок с новыми пушками. Она не затянута.
Саундтрек от Machinae Supremacy достоин того, чтобы побывать в плейлисте. Если зацепит, то все остальное творчество MaSu примерно в стиле песни Hero (Альбомы 2001, 2006, 2008, 2010). Гитарист MaSu писал композиции и к другим играм, например, Gianna Sisters. Дальше, если интересно, то сами все найдете, надеюсь.
В игре тупой веселый юмор, когда еще можно было шутить про все и всех.

Fun game, a little clunky, some what rough around the edges, good god some of these achievements are mean. In short, I liked it, but did it have to be some damned long and slow for a shmup?

Honestly for 3 bucks, this is a steal. I might even recommend it at 8 bucks and that says a lot for a 2004 game released on steam 10 years later with minimal changes.
Even if you arent nostalgic about playing it 20 years ago, its still a great game that holds up today. It oozes so much personality unlike its sequel or most modern games. You get 43 levels, an insane number of unique and creative enemy designs, a ton of awesome weapons to play around and experiment with, devices you can upgrade for your ship, 12 ships with different stats, the list just goes on.
Its so charming, telling its story through comics before each level. It also has ridiculous and funny ideas. You dont just go and shoot random ships like in a generic space shoot em up, you fight autonomous beer drones in a giant beer cube, space planes, submarines in underwater levels, a horde of macroviruses and the list keeps going.
After you finish the game, you can replay it from mission 1 while keeping all the progress you made so far if you want to unlock everything it has to offer. Even if youve upgraded yourself to be above losing, you still have to be skillful at the game because every now and the you get thrown in a mission where you cant use your own ship and you have to race in a junkyard plane or carry your ship in a big, slow transporter.
The environments and art style are so beautiful and the music accompanying them is amazing, ive lost track of how many times i just got lost in the shop music before starting the next level.
It has a few problems, such as the game being so old that it cant properly fit big monitors. You can make it fit the screen but it looks weird and stretched. Playing it in its original size is better, youll forget its not fully screen fit in the middle of the action anyway. Im unsure if this next one is a problem for just me or a universal problem for everyone but the ship feels very slippery to control with your mouse. So i recommend using your keyboard during levels, you can even bind your controls to anything you want.
Its a very good game that does its genre justice, i still cant believe this was made in 2004 and its still better than some of the stuff ive seen nowadays.
It's fun, it's classic, the controls, UI can be a mess.

I got the original at back in the day from a CD in a computer magazine. Although I never had a thing for sidescrollers, I installed JnG and had endless fun. When I saw the JnGGold version bundled with JnG2 a few days ago, I bought both and realized immediately after installation that JnGGold doesn't have much to do with the original. Especially the difficulty and the balancing. In JnG original both were challenging and fun. JnGGold, on the other hand, is an unbalanced and frustrating pile of junk. I can't describe in words how disappointed I am. A game can be challenging, no problem. But if you die 5000 times at every level and then simply complete a level by stupid chance, then that has nothing to do with challenging, but is, as I said, simply frustrating. Another case of useless reworking instead of leaving a product in good memory.

This one feels kinda clunky and interface is hard to navigate at first. Gamepad support is bad but you can set it up. Music is mostly the same like in second game. There's nice variety with ships and some custiomization. If you like completing stages and feel some challenge this one might be for you but I recommend to play the second game as it's much better version!

Other than predictable jokes and outlandish graphic art, the gameplay is mind-numbingly simple and unchallenging to the point where players will merely devastate enemies the half-second they enter the screen as the average bullets in a level fired begins to exceed 30K in the mid-to-late game. Rake in Grass attempted to mitigate this issue by designing levels wherein players would be forced into using lower-grade vehicles with little to no weapon capabilities to add some flavor to the product. Still, it should be noted that these sections can be seen as gimmicky makeweights due to their abrupt appearances and brief existences. With a video game that provides players with so many options and manageable restrictions, it ultimately fails when players are not given varied, as well as exciting, environments to explore their options and further incentivize them to continue playing.

I loved the music, and that was easily my favorite part. As far as shmups go? It feels... Kind of slow paced. There's a bunch of levels which makes it just feel like a slog at times. But, hey... It's still pretty good, and worth it for the soundtrack.

If you played this back in the day and have nostalgia for it - you know you want it, you don't need my review. Seems to work fine.
But the game is so braindead lol. It's like Vampire Survivors - you fly a ball of fiery death, and everything that shows up on screen just dies. Dodging is highly optional, and that's good because good luck being able to see enemy bullets in this mess.

Ещё наверное во времена динозавров, но благодаря эффекту ностальгии, решил купить её в стиме и пройти снова.
Очень рад что снова смог пройти, ведь атмосфера, оружия, эффекты и юмор (в каком-то смысле) помогли вновь ощутить старые временна.
Игрушка очень хадкорная, поэтому не всем подойдёт, но ветераны которые проходили её раньше, даже не заметят его.
Короче если вы не боитесь трудной игры, то могу порекомендовать вам её.
Хотя щас уже все привыкли к 2к геймингу и крутому графону...

A raucously fun upgrade shmup with lots of wacky humor and weapons. Plenty of secrets to be found and massive bosses to blow up. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, or at least any fan of the genre.

I can't put into words how much I love this game.
The music, the weapons the real FEEL of the explosions and the "thug thug thug" as bolts leave your heavy cannon. The effects are that perfect compromise between believable and arcade and WOW factor. Enough to make you go "dam@! Skippy I did that?...." but not over the top so you can still line up your next nuclear missile. The best part of the game is the cartoon cut scenes. Or at least that's what I call them. They tell the story between each level and are done in this really dark but deeply satirical manner. It is, at least in my opinion the only modern game that can be mentioned alongside what I consider the king of arcade aircraft type shooters "Raptor: Call of the shadows" and that, is high praise indeed.
And with that all I have left to say is try it, you will love it!

Was a great game a decade ago, it still is great now.
It fills the right spot for those looking for an explosive shooter with some edgy comedy and lite RPG elements as you upgrade and experiment with loadouts.
I know that this whole genre is associated with trash, mobile games, etc. But this, when I was a kid and got a hold of it, way before steam, was a gem. I replayed it often.
Resolution is buggy and the game is ancient so no dev support anymore. There are a few fixes. Here's one, stolen from a forum somewhere:
In the compatibility settings of properties, there is an option to "change high DPI settings", click this and a new dialog box will open with some boxes you can check: Check the very last box (under "High DPI Scaling Overirde") which says "override high scaling behavior" and let the application perform scaling. Now run the program as administrator and the the game should launch in fullscreen at your monitor's native resolution.
The vibe of the game is nice and I actually bought it cause it's optics. When it comes to shmups I'm definetely not a pro and there are many titles out there I never played and so I'm always up for a challenge if the game looks nice and plays well. What killed that game for me are the controls.. not even that they're kinda hard to align for the controller setup.. mostly the wonkyness was the downer.. theres lot of stuff happening in this game and you gotta move around a lot and quick, theres almost no feedback for hits u catch so the fact that the controls are spongy make it almost impossible for me to train the passages making no hit runs aso.. thats kind of a must in this genre
