EPIC SCALE, PERSONAL STAKES Iron Danger is a fully story-driven game, in which the action flows from the choices of the heroes and the events that surround them. The fate of an entire world is in your hands, and you will grapple with cosmic magic, terrifying monsters, and colossal war machines to save it. But you’re not a conquering warrior or master of sorcery by birth: you have to grow into your destiny step by step, and you can’t do it alone. I like the idea behind the game, but I’m not having fun playing it. The rewind mechanic lets you avoid almost every hit if you play perfectly, which makes me question the purpose of healing items, especially when their availability feels inconsistent. When is it supposed to be acceptable to take damage?

Since every hit takes a large chunk of your health and never feels good, it pushes you to play every encounter perfectly, which ends up being time-consuming and a bit exhausting. I’m not sure how to fix this either. it’s a tricky concept to balance.

That said, I respect the developers for trying something unique and doing a decent job with it. I’ll give it a thumbs up, even though it’s not a game for me.

it has a time rewind mechanic that made gameplay very satisfyingly. you can basically get hit by something, then try different moves to just avoid, dodge, or interrupt the damage. that's basically what i did on normal difficulty until I unlocked the heal power after which I let myself start eating minor hits to speed up the fights. you can't save in the middle of a mission, but they only last like 15, maybe 30 minutes on the longer ones. worth picking up on sale in not just paying 20 dollars for.

I Absolutely can not stand this game. I mean the i bought this game a long time ago and i never got around to playing it. I noticed wow i have this game lets check it out. This game makes me want to smash everything. You can turn back time. interesting idea ill give them that. But the dodge and move and all the controls are S#17 Straight trash it makes moving and dodging and fighting unbearable. Never buys this game. Who ever gave it high marks does not play fighting games. most my time waisted in this game is just trying to get to the boat. In the very beginning. i say block but then time freezes and it wont keep going until i do another move but then that stops the block. I say to wait then my block is up but it wont actually block because i have wait selected. Trash straight trash game and mechanics. Stay away.

I think this game would be good without the time manipulation. I didn't make it far enough into the game to maybe see it play out but it just seemed like a dumb curveball. it's like, lets have you fall down a hole and die, then go back and avoid the spot with the hole....why not just not do that and move forward with the game?

Ughh. I dont get the positive reviews. The dialog and writing are awful - total AI garbage. the characters therefore seem pretty paper thin and kind of silly. Can't save in mission, game runs VERY poorly, even at the lowest settings and you only get LOW MED HIGH for graphics settings nothing else. The time mechanic is pretty poor too. for expample in the tutorial you have to dodge once you die, but the dodge skill requires a cooldown - Sooo you push the wait button 3 times before you move again. You'll only figure this out after a few trial and errors. at $1.99 its not worth it... at $19.99 pfft. no way.

The story, dialogue, music, and graphics are all mid, not great, not horrible. The only trully unique thing this game has to offer is time rewinding mechanic so here is my review of it:

PROS
+ time rewinding is a cool idea

NEUTRAL
° story is OK, ending is anticlimactic
° graphic is OK, could have been more stilised or detailed to actually look good, but it is not bad
° autosaves for each chapter/part, but you cannot save manually, so if you leave mid mission, you WILL lose progress
° very limited "progression" as ther is no gear, or leveling, just 1 skill upgrade at the end of missions

CONS
- outside of healing, there is practically zero reasons for exploration, because there is nothing to explore, and nothing to find.
- everything is AoE and there is friendly fire
- pathfinding is horrible, you have to babysit every step
- Horrible execution of time rewinding mechanic,

There is no AI for your characters, so they will do NOTHING on their own at all, not fight back, not move, nothing, which forces you into using the time rewinding. With this system, you have to babysit every move of two characters at once, while the time rewinding system is constantly trying to do the opposite of what you want. It is constantly unpausing while it is not supposed to do (blocking, moving, attacking, swapping characters, etc), so instead of synchronizing multiple actions from your 2 characters and planning ahead and then just unpausing the time (as you would want, which would make this system actually feel good), you have to rewind back and forth like an idiot to set up separate tasks for the characters, and even then you will need to redo the rewinds multiple times as 2/3 rewinds the game does some random ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that you never asked it to do, which, together with all the other controls and camera flaws, makes this an excruciatingly frustrating experience. Also, the time rewind has a cap how far back can you go, and every time it unpauses (aganist your wil) it steals time from you that you cannot go back, either locking you into getting hit or moving badly, which is usualy caused by this system and horrible pathfinding anyway. This time-rewinding system does more harm than good, and the game has nothing to offer outside of it.

Live die repeat the game; So far I'm enjoying it, the combat mechanics are a new idea I've not seen yet, and I enjoy Baldur's gate top down RPGs I'm excited to see if the game stays interesting. Well worth it at $20

Ну что сказать про игру?
В целом, потраченных деняк было не жаль, по итогу заняло примерно 32 часа, был баг, нельзя подобрать предметы некоторые, вроде больше не помню, и это было не критично, сюжет простенький, финалка на минималках, перевод мог быть и получше, история явно не завершена, явный закос под продолжение, на этом пожалуй всё. Жду второй части :)

Imagine you're playing a real-time tactics game with a party of two characters, and you really goof it up. You walk on a spike trap and get one of your characters impaled, while the other, at the same moment, gets hit by an enormous fireball. Although this scenario would normally be "game over," in Iron Danger you can "rewind" and try things a little differently. Therein lies the appeal of the game.

You're often up against a number of difficult enemies at any one time, but the ability to try and re-try various tactics until you're successful allows you to survive these encounters. I loved maximizing my efficiency, while learning the ins and outs of each enemy and its attacks. I especially loved the few levels in which Kipuna controls the automaton, an extremely powerful "golem" with quick and powerful attacks.

If the combat wasn't fun enough by itself, the game has a scavenging element that I very much enjoy. You can not only find oil and fuel barrels to throw out and intensify the damage of Kipuna's fire attacks, but you can find healing herbs, grenades of various types, and mushrooms that instantly recharge the abilities of the character that consumes them. When Lemichen is partnered with you, he can use found resources to create explosive, poison, and enraging (causing enemies to attack each other) arrows as well.

The only issues I had with the game were:

[*] It could get a little easy, especially once Kipuna gains the heal and enrage abilities. The heal allows you to complete encounters in a sloppy fashion (healing afterwards) and makes the healing herbs irrelevant. Enrage is extremely powerful, especially when coupled with Kipuna's ability to recharge your abilities.
[*] At one point, the exit would not appear after I killed a boss. I think this was because the boss died to a fellow enemy (due to enrage) instead of by my hand. I had to replay a 20 minute section of the game.
[*] The game had trouble loading my save at one point. I had to load a different save and then, once in the game proper, load my current save again.
[*] I could not get the "Ring of Fire!" achievement to unlock after performing the required action. This really wasn't a big deal, but it soured me on attempting to 100% the game.

Lastly, I actually enjoyed the story and became somewhat fond of the characters, even though they weren't tremendously interesting. The ending of the game sets up a compelling sequel, which will be an instant buy for me. This was one of my favorite games from the hellish year of 2020.

가슴에 시간을 되돌릴 수 있는 타임스톤이 박힌 소녀가 다른 스톤들을 모으러 싸돌아다니는 이야기입니다.

가장 큰 장점이자 개성있는 부분은 실시간 전투에서 시간을 되돌려 이전 시간(최대 6초전)으로 돌아가 다시 전투 플랜을 다시 세우고 피하고 때리고 구르고 할 수 있다는 점입니다. 그래서인지 전투 난이도가 쉽지는 않습니다.
그리고 같은 시간대에 2명의 캐릭터를 사용한다는게 쉽지는 않네요. 근데 나쁘지는 않습니다 하다보면 오기가 생기고 클리어를 하기위해서 아득바득 하게 됩니다.

그리고 사운드트랙이 생각보다 고퀄이고 좋습니다. 사운드트랙을 따로 추가컨텐츠로 넣어준 이유가 있는거 같네요.

제 기준에서 단점은 좀 많은데
일단 필드로 데리고 나가는 캐릭터가 2명이 끝입니다( 주인공 + 기타 1명 )
그것도 내가 선택하는게 아니고 스토리 진행에 따라서 알아서 정해집니다...

그리고 캐릭터들의 스킬을선택해서 강화만하고, 스킬트리나 빌드 같은게 없어서 좀 밋밋합니다
장비를 파밍하거나 업그레이드하는 재미도 없고요. 그냥 스토리 따라 전투만 진행하면 됩니다.
캐릭터 합류나 스토리 진행이 개연성이 없어서 몰입도 잘 안됩니다.
개성 없는 캐릭터들도 노잼요소에 한몫하구요. 매번 비슷한 전투만 하니 장점인 시간되돌리기도 점점 단조로워집니다. 개인적으로 4인전투 + 장비요소 + 스킬트리가 생기면 우주갓겜이 될 것 같네요.

游戏的画面其实还不错，但是玩法不是很感冒，说是“实现了回合制战术操控与令人兴奋的实时游戏体验的融合”，但本就是两类游戏，为什么要强行融合呢？其实这类游戏最近由于喜加一，也接触过好多个了，给我的感觉吧就是，把RPG游戏硬生生拆分成若干片段，游戏逐渐碎片化，于是最佳游玩方式，也由手柄转换为键鼠操作，我觉得实在是没有必要啊

This one is a rather interesting project that is totally worthy of a playthrough. While the game doesn’t really have a good story (not only it is simple and unoriginal, it also ends abruptly with a big sequel/DLC cliffhanger), can’t boast about its visuals or sound, it can, however, offer a really solid gameplay loop to be fun. The entirety of the game is built around time manipulation, with progression adding more tools to play around with. I will note, however, that the ability to rewind any action makes this game more of a puzzle that you should try to pass without receiving any damage (and considering that many enemies can oneshot you - not getting hit is basically mandatory) rather than a more traditional RPG. The game takes around 10 hours to finish, with a steady addition in abilities and a big “final exam” in the end - and it ends right before it could start getting boring. Considering how often this game is on a discount and how dirt cheap it is - give it a try.

Ein erfrischend anderes Spiel und von seiner Spielmechanik wohl ziemlich einzigartig. Mir hat es wirklich sehr viel Spaß gemacht. Das Kampfsystem mit der Zeitzurückspielmechanik funktioniert hervorragend. Ich hatte zunächst starke Zweifel, weil man innerhalb der Missionen nicht speichern kann. Aber die Missionen hatten alle genau die richtige Länge. Grafik und Geschichte waren gut und zweckmäßig, das Kämpfesystem ist aber das, was dieses Spiel besonders macht. Zudem lief das Spiel sehr flüssig, ich hatte keine Abstürze, was für so ein Spiel ziemlich wichtig ist. Einmal konnte ich ein neues Level nicht starten, weil er mir da eine Fehlermeldung brachte - hätte ich das nicht lösen können, wäre die Bewertung sofort ins negative gekippt. Bei mir hat funktioniert das Spiel zu deinstallieren und neu zu installieren, dann funktionierte es fehlerfrei und ich brauchte nicht mal ein Level wiederholen. - Für mich eine der spaßigsten Spielerfahrungen der letzten Zeit und endlich wieder mal ein Spiel, wo ich alle Errungenschaften freigeschaltet habe (es gibt da einen sehr guten Guide bei Steam). Absolute Kaufempfehlung.

I got it on sale, and it's worth it at that price. I dont think it would be worth it at full price, since the whole game takes maybe 10 hours to finish.

The mechanics are interesting enough, you have a time rewind ability that let's you immediately replay the past few seconds of each encounter until you get it right. This is balanced by a huge portion of attacks being one-shot kills, and of all the decisions the devs made that is certainly one of them. Ultimately I think it's good that the game is as short as it is, since I don't think it would hold up over a longer period.

The writing is really all over the place. We never get much characterization of the Northlanders other than they're an invading army and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for the sake of being ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Are they conquering territory? No not really, the protagonist's village is destroyed and unoccupied later in the game. They're looking for the shards, but what are they going to do with those shards? They're just an excuse for having someone to fight that we don't have to think too much about.

There are also a lot of weird jabs at men that come out of nowhere, like the writer has an axe to grind. It's not enough to ruin the game overall, but it happens enough that it stood out.

Sistema de combate pode parecer interessante mas, em pouco tempo lutando contra dois inimigos, já vi que adiante no jogo, essa mecânica seria um inferno. Além de não ter como fazer loot nem nada, muito simples, sei la.

The time back mechanism is unique, no question.
But for me it feels very unsatisfying. I tried blocking a few times and never got it to work. Every time I go back to the last heartbeat where I chose the block action, delay it for a heartbeat, and try again, I still get hit.
In the end I accidentally clicked onto the map and just walked to the side, evading the attack, even though the enemy went halfway through me.

Also, it is slow, really slow. The pause mechanism of Divinity Original Sin feels much more satisfying, even though more limited.

Après 40 minutes de jeu seulement, j'ai su que ce jeu n'était pas fait pour moi, mais je pense qu'il peut vraiment plaire à certains ! Le gameplay repose sur le contrôle du temps et permet au joueur de faire revenir son ou ses personnages quelques actions en arrière, ce qui leur permet de répondre à toutes sortes de situations afin notamment d'éviter blessures, pièges, ou tout autre problème.
Cela m'a un peu fait penser aux jeux casse-tête de mimimi games, comme Desperado, car tout repose sur une planification précise de chaque action et de chaque positionnement.

It felt like there was an idea with the time powers and everything else came after. The story was all over the place and the gameplay was rather janky where some items cannot be picked up and characters/enemies actions sometimes phase through each other. You cannot save halfway through a mission. You can almost keep on retrying any encounter, as long as it is within your powers. There are missions with only dialogue, or moving through a few rooms, which is weird. You are forced to partner with whichever character the story decides and switch play style. I really hated that. Leveling up seems rather random, you can't control who levels up but you can pick what skill to level up from a list. You are left with a cliff hanger at the end.

Judging from the credits, it looks like a small team and they gave it their best shot with limited resources. I think they got too greedy. Unfortunately, cannot recommend.

A good premise marred by horrifyingly bad gameplay.

Most of the 'spells' and abilities you obtain are nigh-worthless. The game punishes you for experimental gameplay with overpowered enemies who have pathetic hitscan - you are pushed into mindless attacking and dodging, and rewarded with victory for obedience.

Some game-breaking bugs have lasted for over four years, and it is infuriating to know that there was next to no attempt to fix them, even with the oversimplicity in the game's dynamics..

然後說仍在戰鬥狀態無法離開章節傳點

巨魔感覺有些遇不到，不然就是還沒遇到就死掉了or其他原因不知道

6章7節沒遇到NPC卻讓我跑回本來預計要離開的點
但沒有顯示後續任務，導致不知道要做什麼
第二次遇上了NPC，解決NPC後，到離開任務的傳點卻無法離開
同一張圖搞兩次我已經沒耐性了

The plot or characters isn't why I am recomending this game, they are fine enough. What makes me really recomend this game is the gameplay, hard to explain you simply need to experience it. I had so much fun fiddling and trying new things with the action ecconomy, not quite turn based but also not real time it was a fun struggle to explore and succeed at.

Iron Danger is a fine game, that is pretty much it. The premise is generally interesting, its a tactical combat puzzle game that is centered around time powers and being able to rewind. The game does that well, but it is important to know the most important part of that description is PUZZLE. This is not an RPG, you can pick some upgrades for your characters but they're generally just okay. The characters are all kind of bad people and somewhat vague, no one really seems to like one another and are all just using each other, but they frame it like the end like they're some kind of found family? The story also isn't really compelling anyway, you are chasing mcguffins and the bad guys aren't fleshed out at all. The story also ends on a cliffhanger like they were expecting to make a sequel to it. Additionally, you don't make any choices during the story, once again this is a PUZZLE game. The only thing it really has going for it is the interesting premise and somewhat solid combat puzzles, but other than that it is just fine. If you really want to play this one then get it on sale, it isn't a bad game by any means, but it isn't what I would call a good game, it is just a fine game. If the premise interests you, then a sale is the best way to get this one.

É um ótimo jogo e fico feliz por ter tido a oportunidade de conhecê-lo. Trata-se de um game muito único, cuja mecânica de voltar no tempo transforma a experiência em um verdadeiro xadrez em tempo real. Todos os combates exigem estratégia, o que mantém o jogador sempre atento.

Por outro lado, um ponto negativo é a história. Embora não seja ruim, parece um pouco reduzida e poderia ser mais polida. No entanto, os personagens, mesmo com poucas falas, se mostram bastante cativantes.

Sehr hardwarehungrig, aber die, die einen passenden Rechner haben bekommen ein fantastisches Taktik-Spiel.

Die Kern-Mechanik in diesem Spiel ist die Zeitleiste. Diese umfasst ca. die letzten 10 Sekunden (was viel ist, auch wenn es nicht so klingt). Hier könnt ihr jederzeit zurückspulen, falls einer eurer Charaktere stirbt, niedergeworfen wird, etc. Dieses Feature wird sehr ausführlich genutzt. Zum Beispiel ist in den meisten Games standart, dass der Einschlagsbereich von Artillerie auf dem Boden angezeigt wird. Hier nicht! Stattdessen spult ihr einfach zurück und umgeht den Einschlagsbereich.

Macht unfassbar großen Spaß und auch die Geschichte ist ganz interessant. Kein Meisterwerk, aber man spielt dieses Spiel nicht für die Story sonder für das Gameplay!

I didn't want to write this, but after not one, but two game-breaking bugs, I uninstalled the game, because I am not replaying another level. Manual saves and/or frequent autosaves? You wish! The game only seems to autosave when you leave an area and it can take quite a while to open up the next area.

The first bug didn't let me finish the tutorial, because there was no "Sail away" icon to click on. It appeared the second time I played it and the tutorial wasn't long, so it didn't bother me that much.

The second bug I encountered was after a particularly hard fight roughly half-way through the game fighting an evil forest spirit called Kade (one of several tough fights on that Foxwood map), where I had to activate "light pillars" with some fire magic to gain access to a temple, but the pillars were gone, so no way to open the temple, no way to go the next area and thus have the game autosave. There were in-game arrows pointing downwards where the pillars were meant to be and it was far away from the fighting, so while my fireball has plenty of splash damage, it couldn't possibly have damaged them. If it still did and there is a way to actually destroy such important items, well, that's just stupid design.

The game has its flaws, besides the game-breaking bugs, but the rewind time mechanism often allows you to undo mistakes, like characters running in the wrong direction or not doing anything at all. This game is micromanagement paradise or hell, depending on your preferences. The combat abilities are useful and you control two characters with different skill sets, meaning you have plenty of options. It has very good background music and voice acting and I kind of liked the story. I will probably look up the rest of the game on YouTube now, like I've done with other games that are great in several ways, but fail in the gameplay department.

At one point in the story, our reluctant heroine says "No! I don't want to do this anymore!". Same, girl, same.

Olisi kiinnostanut pelata enemmänkin, mutta pelin ajankelaus-systeemi on todella rasittava käyttää. Siitä puuttuu tarkkuus ja monesti se tuntuu puhtaalta kikkailulta jos käytössä on useampi kuin yksi pelihahmo. Idea on erinomainen ja Kalevavivahteinen asetelma on houkuttava. Mutta itse en pääse yli enkä ympäri siitä miten peli toimintaansa yrittää toteuttaa koska se on raivostuttavaa pelattavaa erittäin nopeasti. Se tuntuu väärillä tavoilla vaikealta eivätkä kontrollit muutenkaan mitään pisteitä kerää.
Muutenkin tavasta jolla peli toteuttaa toiminnallisen puolensa näyttää omaan silmään juurikin tälläiseltä monimutkaiselta ja huonosti toteutulta systeemiltä joka yrittää tarjota monipuolista ja syvällistä pelattavaa, jossa on oikeasti hyviä ideoita, mutta joka ei toteutuksessaan onnistu juuri tarjoamaan muuta kuin turhauttavia kokemuksia.

Tämä on harmillisesti niitä pelejä joka epäonnistuu sillä osa-alueella jota pelaaja joutuu käyttämään eniten. Peli on kivan näköinen ja teema on hyvä, mutta pelattavuus ei nappaa.

The mechanic for this game was fresh and interesting. The game itself felt short - I was disappointed at what felt like the narrative cutting off in the middle in a way seemed set up to sell DLC. I enjoyed the game, however, and would play more if it were available! There were some bugs - especially with being able to pick up interactable objects.

Unique concept with annoying execution. This game features REALLY unique combat system. What do you get when you mix action and turn-based combat? RTwP is the wrong answer - always has been! THIS game shows the proper way to do it. You can dodge, parry, lunge, attack and counter-attack, use various magic tricks and items to your advantage. It feels a lot like a description of sword combat in books, a blow-by-blow account of fight between two master fencers. This system would fit The Witcher wonderfully, for example.

The rest of the game is... Well, less interesting. The world is Viking-themed, the plot is MacGuffin hunt, and the characters attempt a bit of drama, but never succeed. However, it's easy to look beyond all that, and slightly unpolished UI, too, just for the innovative and interesting combat mechanic alone.

I wish someone would copy that mechanic in a bigger-budget game - it certainly deserves to take its place among standard approaches to combat in video games.

Performance and game play is very jank.

But worst of all, cannot even finish the bloody tutorial mission, because the damn interactable element to "sail away" just isn't there. Oh, and the save is at the start of the mission, so I shall replay 20+min to just HOPE that this time around a lazy dev bug isn't there?!?

Worst humour of all: Cannot refund b/c I picked it up in sale like 20 days ago and didn't go bug hunting straight away. Standard policy, I hear ya.

Do yourself a favour and stay away from not just this game, but this publisher.

As many have said before, this is not an RPG. It's more puzzle-like, and that's not a bad thing, if you know what you're getting into. The combat is unique and interesting, but also frustrating sometimes, and repetitive after a while. So you get a mixed bag. I'd say wait for a sale, but do try it. It's different enough that it should be encouraged.

This is quite a nice little game. The main selling point is the unusual time manipulation mechanic. It turns the game into something of an ever-evolving puzzle, every move requiring awareness of your surroundings and the potential actions of enemies (which can shift as your own moves shift).

It does wear a bit thin late in the game, where one-hit kills abound and ranged attacks come from various directions. However, while failure can come frequently, it's refreshing that it can be reversed with a mere flick of the mouse wheel rather than having to load a save.

Beyond the core mechanic, presentation is solid - visuals and voice acting are okay, and the music is distinctive and enjoyable.

All up, a solid experience.

Note* I did not complete this game as I only played it to Chapter 5 - Part 4. I stopped due to a bug that infuriated me. Below is the detail.

The game is fun, like immensely so. I enjoy the puzzle action nature of it. This is not an RPG as some would say it is, it's a prince of persia style puzzle where you control 2 characters at a time and attempt to find the best way to complete a level. The time mechanics are great in my opinion and work well with 2 characters as you try to time attacks and movement to create a ballet of death and destruction.

The story seemed interesting but not so engaging, the Main Character herself can feel very hit and miss especially early on. But overall nothing too exciting nor too bad.

The bad part is the save system. So each level is relatively short and as such does not have saves within them. Instead, if you wish to restart a certain segment of a level, you have to restart the entire level. Now this isn't bad on paper itself with how short a level is and the game's time mechanic. This does however become a problem when you get a certain bug.
The bug essentially makes it so that one of the characters just doesn't move or respond to your clicks, it'll also fiddle with the time mechanic. The issue with this is that at the end of *most* areas, you complete the game by boarding your ship and the ship will only leave when both characters are on board... see where i'm going with this?

You essentially can't beat a level when you get this bug due to the fact that both characters can't be present on the ship. Besides that, the game has been designed to rely on 2 character combat/coop so much that having one out of the frame makes everything else much hard by a large margin. This problem becomes a major headache in the later levels when the fights are tougher and larger with more enemies. So now combine this bug with the lack of manual or autosave and you have an issue that can completely ♥♥♥♥ your entire progression in that level simply because you had bad luck.

I say ♥♥♥♥ THAT ♥♥♥♥. The game is genuinely fun, but i ain't taking a step further with the knowledge that my progress can be reset due to the games save design combined with bugs. So if you wish to buy this game, do so at a sale and do sale with the knowledge that this can happen to you.

Nice little turn-based (kind of - its done in heartbeats with each action taking a number of beats) strategy game - but it all works with the unique time manipulation system that's lets you rewind and forward time along you heartbeat track so that you can pick that perfect point to dodge the incoming arrows and chuck a fireball at the fuel can they're stood next too whilst your melee guy picks the time to block the swing of his enemy and then thump/stab him one.
There's 4 main characters and you play Kipuna - the leading lady who is collecting magic shards that each give new powers along with 1 of the 3 companions Tipo (Blacksmith with a big hammer), Lemichen (Rogue with a Bow) or The healer who has a few spells and basic melee.
The story is fairly basic but played nicely with a few Finnish lore bits thrown in for flavour. Unfortunately the story ends in such a manner it suggests there was a DLC or Sequel planned - but i know the studio hit trouble during its second game which is now in early access with just a few of the staff doing it in there own time now which is a shame as this was a really nice start to a series of games in the same world. Its not overly long - but will keep you occupied for a few hours and stops to combat going stale with some puzzle based levels.

It's clear that this game is premised on the idea of having "perfect knowledge" of the course of a fight thanks to your time manipulation ability. The problem is that for whatever reason, whether its a flaw in the physics or the frame data or the world simulation elements or whatever (it's hard to tell), the results of any given action feel VERY inconsistent. You can be hit by attacks you were nowhere near, knockback direction often has little to do with the direction an attack is coming from, prone chance *seems* random (is it?), attack timing is very hard to read in terms of figuring out which exact beat you should block or dodge on. What should be a Superhot-like flow of combat quickly devolves into micromanaging every step by trial and error for both party members, trying to figure out what exactly even happened.

I really wish there was an option on steam somewhere between a "yes" or "no" recommendation that was essentially: "would personally wait for a pretty good sale." Because though this game found an AMAZINGLY fun gameplay niche, it really doesn't feel as fleshed out as would be needed to make it something I can't stop playing. There are three main things reeeealllly holding this game back in my opinion.
1) Lack of changeable keybindings which is such a huge modern convenience that can really save frustrating default control schemes.
2) Inconvenient saving mechanics (or lack thereof)
3) Such inconsistent hit boxes for attacks. This one is really tough because the core gameplay idea is fine tuning your flow of combat moves, but when maybe 1/5th of the time I'm just watching a replay of my characters weapon swing through an enemy's body without damaging them, it feels less like fighting tough enemies and more like fighting dodgy programming.

The other thing I think could go a long way might be more of a me thing, but the team had such a good idea of redoing and fine-tuning combat, I really wish they would make it where the timeline (how far back in combat you could rewind) wasn't so short. I'm sure they had a reason for it's short length, but I would have a ton more fun if I could rewind a lot further back!

Iron Danger, you will either love or hate.

The game is very unique, having a mixture of turn-base gaming and time travel. Which means you can play the same fight over and over until you gain victory. Personally I loved the game, although the tutorial could have been better perhaps. The first fight was a frustrating struggle as I grappled to learn the rules, but eventually Iron Danger became a fun experience.

The soundtrack and voicing is excellent and the story (although somewhat basic) is wholesome and satisfying.

Overall its a thumbs up. I applaud the devs taking a chance on a new gaming style. It would be great to see this kind of game turn into it's own genre (time-line turn-based games?).

Einfach zu schwer macht mir kein Spass ständig zu scheitern. Komplett unausgeglichene Schwierigkeitsstufe.
