まずマップの作りが非直感的すぎるがこれには慣れるしかない。むしろその性質を理解するためのゲームかもしれない。
ゲームプレイはパズル要素が強く、攻撃とマスの移動と待機しか基本のアクションは存在しない。マップには多様なバイオームとそれに則した敵がいて、倒したり逃げたりしながら宝物を集めたり探索を進めるというのが基本の流れになる。
ある条件を達成すると Yendor Challenge というモードが解放されるのだが、これが面白くゲームの理解を深めてくれるのでおすすめ。
I'm pretty much hooked on this game. The hyperbolic geometry is interesting enough (things are possible here that aren't in Euclidean geometry), but the variety of lands with different mechanics is fun to explore.

I'll be real. I don't understand the first thing about how non-euclidian geometry is supposed to work and the guided tour made it more and more confusing.
As far as the gameplay goes, though, it's pretty cool!

HyperRogue is a very enjoyable game, and probably one of the most full-featured non-euclidean games i know of.
It is also highly customizable and includes many alternative modes, which i enjoy playing around with.

I've had this game since it was free in early access, and years later I'm still coming back to it. Every biome is so creative and interesting to contend with, and it's very rare that I feel like a death was out of my control.

Great game! Unlocking all the worlds and achievements is very addicting. Sort of a bummer that you're stuck back in the same early worlds when you die, though. Each world is basically its own game that you can try to improve your high score on. But monsters and powerups can leak into adjacent worlds, with interesting results. I don't mind the simple graphics, but this concept with updated graphics would be super awesome.
I have a love hate relationship with this game.
It's truly novel, a little bit addicting, fun, and, offers hundreds of hours of playtime if you're up for the challenge. I think it's worth it even if you all you do is try to unlock every land at some point and get 10 treasure in them at some point.
But if you're going for what is essentially the game's ultimate challenge, hyperstones, you have to get at least 10* treasures in every one of the 60 lands. In a single run. Where one misclick sends you back to the beginning. Needless to say, this aspect does not play very nice with my medically recognized "makes lots of simple mistakes" disorder x3
*Some lands require less because treasures are hard to get and worth more *cough do not attempt 8 holy grails cough*
One of the best roguelike games. Probably the only game with non-euclid space that is actually fun while still utilising the unusual features of the space.
This game is a very creative take on the classic roguelike genre. Non-Euclidean geometry aside, the combat and enemies are creative and well designed. I really like the checkmate mechanics and the ways that various enemies affect it (or are affected by it).
Not sure how this one flew under my radar for so long but I'd definitely recommend it to fans of classic roguelikes.
It also has several game modes and a hundreds of achievements.

Yes this is an absolute banger of a roguelike. Yes you should play this absolute banger of a roguelike. Already a classic.
In VR this the most confusing and unpleasant experience I ever had, first of all, the menu by default is so close to your face that it hurts, the settings are so confusing you can't make head or tail of them, in the default VR game view the whole thing is moving with your head and is so close to your face you can't see the whole play field, of course you can change everything in the settings but good luck figuring them out! I wanted to go inside the hyperspace in VR but I got so frustrated after a half an hour I wanted to throw the headset at it... I'm sure there is a simpler way to handle all this and present a good VR experience but like this you have to be a rocket scientist to figure this out. Unless you like deep diving in esoteric menus and setting options, pass this game...
Simple rules, fun to play in brief bouts. It does not let you save, however. So unless you want to marathon the very simple game you're unlikely to see what (I infer) are things that happen after you progress enough. Still, fun to drop in for 5-10 minutes of booping monsters on funny tile grids.
I've played the guided tour, done many runs and I still have no clue how any of the math behind this game works. It's sick asf though. Deceptively simple, but surprisingly difficult! You will not come across another game quite like this. Would recommend, even if it's just to support the devs.

Es una especie de neo-ajedrez con elementos de exploración.
La premisa es simple. Te desplazas por turnos a las casillas adyacentes (hexagonos y heptagonos) evitando ser cazado por mobs (jaque) y coleccionando items.
Lo especial del juego es la concepcion hiperbólica de su geometría en el plano, haciendo que la percepción de las distancias esté distorsionada. Además cuantos más items recoges, más biomas desbloqueas (hay decenas) y más enemigos hay en el actual, haciéndolo MUY desafiante.
Difícil de explicar para alguien no muy entendido como yo, pero recomiendo investigar sobre geometrías no euclidianas.

Hyperbolic space is so big. You don't understand. There's so much space!!!!
There's a zone full of plants with constantly growing vines and every single one of those plants is continually taking up more and more space but you just, never run out of space. There is always more space. This is a really unique game.
PS if you are at all prone to motion sickness then this game can be ROUGH, especially if you like to play fast. Something to be aware of. It's worth it though.
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand HyperRogue. The mechanics are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of hyperbolical geometry most of the gameplay will go over a typical gamer's head. There's also Rogue's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterization - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Felix Klein's literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of this game, to realize that it's not just confusing - it says something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike HyperRogue truly ARE idiots - of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rogue's existencial catchphrase "Yet Another Stupid Checkmate" which itself is a cryptic reference to the game of Chess. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as ZenoRogue's genius unfolds itself on their computer screens. What fools... how I pity them. 😂 And yes by the way, I DO have a HyperRogue tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

The default layout is a bunch of regular hexagons (6) and heptagons (7) tiled together in an infinite honeycomb pattern. Sounds like that shouldn't be possible without deforming the tiles, but in this game it works just fine!
The game is unique. It's the uniquest game I've ever played. If you want to get lost in a world so infinite that there's no conceivable way to ever go in circles, this is it. Each area/biomie is boundless in every direction (except one area), but new infinite areas are also reachable in every direction. It's paradoxical how utterly massive this world is. And how diverse the areas are: infinite whirlpools pulling you into a center infinitely far away, being chased by infinitely big monsters as you delve deeper and deeper into enemy land, a perfectly round table that's a MILLION times longer than it is wide, an infinitely tall tree you're supposed to climb, oceans, beaches, swamps, dungeons, deserts etc etc etc.
The point is exploration, so explore the unique mechanics of every area! Oh and collect the save point power-up so you don't have to start over all the time. Not to worry, even starting in the same place 100 times you won't need to run through the same area twice, hyperbolic space is just that "big".
It also has special funky game modes to explore different kinds of geometries. But those might break your brain a little bit.
Very difficult and fun, but i don't know if i encountered a bug but while in the graveyard enemies would spawn in at the sound of the bell in the tile adjacent to me, killing me instantly. Other than that, this game is very underrated and underappreciated. Edit: I saw in a gameplay video that it is intentional, but I think that it is not a good gameplay mechanic as there was no warning or ability to prepare. Edit again: I just got my third Holy Grail and OMG is this game stressful. I'm want to try and find an orb of yendor but I'm too scared that I'll lose my game that I've been playing for a few days now.

If you like difficult games and hyperbolic space, this game is for you.
I coulda gotten the Orb of Yendor ages ago if i just did a 10 treasure in 9 lands run earlier, but instead i was trying to unlock orbs in all lands because they are useful. 25 treasures in a land is difficult to do in this game.
TL:DR: game is hard and kicked my butt, and i enjoyed it the whole time.

What an absolute gem! As a big roguelike fan, I can't believe I have overlook this one for so long. I thought it was just a cute experiment with non-Euclidean geometry, but this game is so much more than that. It's extremely engaging, varied, tactical, exhilarating, even. And I have the feeling I have barely scratched the surface, as I only played the main game mode and only visited some of the dozens of biomes, each with its unique game mechanics.

It is often regarded that the most monstrous, dreadful thing is the Unknown. That being faced with something incomprehensible is enough to drive one to madness.
But the horror of true eldritch knowledge is expressed the most not when it is veiled in mystery, but when you [i]do[/i] comprehend it just fine.
I may now comprehend too much. The way these things, just... [i]are[/i], is too much. It's [i]insulting[/i] how much they are.
Merely understanding that such places are logically consistent, and therefore one cannot find comfort in mathematics safely ruling out the situation of being stranded in one, causes distress.

big fun if you like strategy and conundrums
This is a really interesting concept! The hyperbolic geometry results in a map that feels mostly normal but completely prevents you from finding your way back to any area you visited previously. So you kind of have to just wander. It has an unbelievable amount of content (see: 300+ achievements) and so I've only scratched the surface so far. Unfortunately it's hard to keep playing past a certain point given the sparse save-game opportunities and the relatively steep requirements to unlock some areas.
There are some really interesting quests too, of which I've only completed one—rescuing the princess. That really required fighting with the hyperbolic geometry to find the entrance to the princess's cell. It wasn't too hard to find the cell, but walking around it to get to the entrance was a doozy!

I really haven't played any other game like this. It is definitely unique, and there is a lot to explore. BUT IT'S HARD...ONE HIT AND YOU'RE DOWN!
I'd recommend it for sci-fi fanatics, math experts, and gamers who love a challenge.

60種類ほどもある各種バイオームがどれもユニークで攻略していて非常に楽しい。追い詰められたら負けという分かりやすいルールなのもあり戦略ゲームに興味の無かった私もハマりました
日本語非対応ですがゲーム内から公式wikiに飛ぶことができ、そこで翻訳機を使えばある程度は分かると思います
ただ本作、ゲーム内で目的が提示されないので何をしたらいいかわからずすぐやめてしまう人が多いと思われるので書いておくと、最初のおすすめの目標はorb of yendorの獲得、holy grailの獲得、princessの救出です。この3つがゲームの基本に触れるにはぴったりです
その後は何をしてもいいですが私は実績集めをしていました。全然集めきれてないですが…

Great game, all the different worlds are super cool, it really makes you understand hyperbolic geometry and the nature of straight lines in such a world. The soundtrack is also pretty good

I don't understand a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing about this game, but I'm glad real life is normal.
It's kind of charming in the same way that a lunatic who is really enthusiastic about impossible topologies tries to explain them to you while you are desperately trying to back away from him.
Are you absolutely sure you understand hyperbolic topography? I have fifty slides prepared to show you. No...No...I'm good. Are you absolutely sure? Why is the tutorial doing this...?
At last, a game set in hyperbolic non-euclidean geometry so I can finally justify my complete absence of a sense of direction in video games.
It's a really deep game with lots to do, but still each mechanic is thought out and plays well into the theme.
I have little time into the game but this game is really fun. In each Biome you need to collect 10 gems, then monsters spawn and you've gotta move to the next area. The game won't let you move to a location where you can fail. Failure is being check mated where you have no viable move options. I use a controller for movement, sometimes I use a mouse/keyboard though.
Combat is like... you have 1 HP and most enemies have 1 HP. You need to use your turn to move out of the way or attack. Something about this makes the game more of a puzzle game. There are not many games like this, I recommend it.

Where Hyperbolica acts as an introduction to hyperbolic space, HyperRogue feels like it would be a clever successor to a long line of hyperbolic games. This is a marvelous achievement, given HyperRogue is, as far as I can tell, the first hyperbolic video game ever made! It actively takes advantage of curved space to make for excellent, strategic gameplay. In addition, because of the nature of hyperbolic space, exploring the world and finding new lands feels wonderful to me in a way no other game ever achieved, largely due to the infinite possibilities of where you might end up in every direction! There are 3D modes as well, giving you a full first person experience of the world. And if you want to explore the greater possibilities of curved space, HyperRogue grants access to 6 other geometries on top of that! My only problem is that some areas feel unreasonably difficult without much reward, which can discourage exploration. But with the incredible amount of effort put into this indie game to create something truly revolutionary, a mechanical flaw here or there certainly does not take away from the brilliance of it. In my opinion, the human race is lucky to have HyperRogue, and I recommend you let yourself experience it!

This game scratches a very odd itch that I wasn't previously aware I had. It moves as fast as you're willing to play it. Losing is a learning experience, and is often only the fault of the player. Every world has its own rules. Become familiar with them or perish. You can navigate with left-click or scroll-down (for turbo speed!). Keep playing; keep discovering.
Two recommendations:
1. Download the (free!) demo on Zeno Rogue's website. Decide if you can handle it. The game may not be for everyone, but you have a zero-risk opportunity to find out for yourself.
2. Familiarize yourself with hyperbolic geometry. It may not make the game easier, but understanding the concept is an enriching experience.
Me he desinstalado HyperRogue tras solo tres horas y media porque no quiero terminar como buena parte de sus reviews en Steam, que oscilan entre las 100 y las 800 horas. Que sus capturas no engañen a nadie. El juego será feo como un demonio, pero también es un roguelike terriblemente adictivo y mucho más accesible de lo que puede parecer a simple vista. Lo mejor del asunto es que no solo tiene una buena curva de aprendizaje, sino que gracias a su geometría hiperbólica también es capaz de ir introduciendo pequeñas sorpresas a nivel mecánico cada cierto tiempo. HyperRogue es una absoluta demencia de juego y muy probablemente termine instalándolo de nuevo, pero por mi propio bien espero resistir la tentación.
Very underrated and very cool. Clearly made by someone with a love of geometry and proof that non-Euclidean geometry can be more than just a gimmick. Make sure to check out the guided tour before starting your first run. It's what this game has instead of a tutorial

Great game!
The complexity of the geometry in this game is enough to keep the game interesting and addicting despite the relatively simple gameplay. Once you start to internalize the way the map works, you feel like an absolute genius as you bob and weave through increasingly complex hazards. The variety of the different biomes and the inventive ways they play with the already complex geometry creates some of the most deviously complex puzzle scenarios I've seen in a game in a long time. Absolutely worth every penny.
A mathematical roguelike (actually similar to the game Rogue) that explores geometry like few others before it. A tactical arcade-ish collect-em-up. You might initially enter into this game thinking the hexagons and heptagons making up the grid are just a nice way of adding flavor to tile-bumping combat, but as you get into deeper difficulties and tougher quests, you really grow to appreciate the finer details of the hyperbolic space, and what it makes possible that would be fundamentally impossible in Euclidean space.
With 60 main-game lands (and counting?), some bonus lands, a wide array of opponents and challenges, and plenty of alternate game modes, this is a game that will keep the interested player's interest for quite a while.
This is a pretty good roguelike if you want to solve the main quests and explore the whole world. Some of the challenges and optional content can get a bit extreme, long and marathon-like (particularly since the one-hit-kill "checkmate" nature of the game over is always looming on the horizon), but ultimately this is a pretty fair game in spite of it, with plenty of quality-of-life features. Planning, strategizing, avoiding pushing one's luck, and always having an escape plan, can help avoid even the worst-timed ambushes or barely-escapable surroundings.
Ultimately this is a game that will require a lot of patience, but it rewards it pretty nicely. The in-game soundtrack is pretty well varied and appropriate, but it's also easy to mute or mod a replacement for.
Some lands are a bit more redious than others, particularly for going for highscores, but it's always possible to skip around and go to different lands, or visit and re-visit a land to incrementally improve the highscore during the same run. Routing in this game is very flexible; you unlock a lot of lands quickly and can think about which ones would be good to do in which order!
The "orbs" (timed powerups) give you a great sense of power in terms of how much easier they make combat (and how it feels) - setting things up so that you can eventually have a lot of them active simultaneously is rewarding.
Pretty casual and approachable for main content, devilishly difficult and challengingly long for completionists.

If you're open to trying gimmicky roguelikes this might just be for you. This is the ONLY game I've seen featuring hyperbolic geography.

When I'm not in the mood to play anything in my Steam library, I still want to play this game. I played it a ton on mobile, but I've recently grown to like the Steam version even more.
If the trailer piques your interest, then it's safe to assume you'll enjoy HyperRogue. Dev still updates with new content and has a nice little discord where folks share their feedback on the ever-growing list of biomes (up to 60 now).
This game has a Racing Mode. If you value your sanity, you will not play the Racing Mode.

而通常的平面，周长为2πr。这三个公式长得很像，而且不仅仅是长得像，其实就是2π*sin((√K)*r)/(√K)，K是高斯曲率。刚才的例子里K分别就是-1,1,0.
双曲空间的特性和平面完全不同。例如，因为K=-1，所以我们可以进行一个(6,6,7)镶嵌。有正七边形存在时，在遭遇包抄的时候更容易突围。例如，在被2个相邻的怪跟随时，可以跑到正七边形上，然后往反方向走就能逃脱。而在平面上的(6,6,6)镶嵌（全用正六边形）下，被2个相邻的怪跟随时就永远甩不掉了。游戏中还提供了单位球面上的(6,6,5)镶嵌，这个就更不可能了。
另外一个重要的特点就是，容易迷路。因为移动n格以后，可能到达的位置数是指数上升的。这就给游戏带来了和平面完全不同的特性。如果设至少走n步才能到的格子数有a(n)个，那么可以证明当n充分大时，有a(n+5)-2a(n+3)-2a(n+2)+a(n)=0。这就意味着a(n)=O(1.72208380573904^n)，准确地说底数是(1+√13+√(2(√13-1)))/4。如果换作平面上的(6,6,6)镶嵌，那么a(n)=6n，情况就完全不同了。其实连续的情形前面就算过，就是C=2π*sinh(r)和C=2πr的区别。
那么，说回游戏。游戏中，你和相当一部分小怪都是一击即毙的。回合制下，你先动一步（可以原地不动），其它敌人动一步。当你和敌人相邻时，轮到你后你可以干掉敌人（如果轮到敌人，敌人也可以干掉你）。游戏不允许你进行一个可能致死的移动。当你无法移动时，你就GAME OVER了。
游戏包括50多个区域。每个区域都有它特有的机制、特有的收集品、特有的小怪、特有的宝珠（提供不同的技能）。每个区域收集1、10、25、50个收集品都有对应的成就，收集10个以后算基本完成，将会出现这个区域特定的宝珠。收集25个以后，这个区域的宝珠会出现在别的区域。
基本的通关要求是，在9个区域里各收集10个收集品，然后在随之解锁的Hell里收集10个收集品，最后获取一个Hell特有的宝珠。但是，这个宝珠需要在触发之后，在距离100格的位置获取钥匙，再拿钥匙回来打开，这样才可以真正通关。值得一提的是，钥匙有指南针指示，但是回程是没有任何指示的。而和自己距离100格的格子有大约2×10^24个，因此不提前准备几乎一定会迷路。
那么，为了通关，还需要收集足够多的东西作为路标。墓地区域的宝珠“没有任何作用”，且可以随意丢弃。因此，方法就是收集足够多的墓地宝珠，沿路摆放，最终通关。
当然，我20个小时的体验里包括很慢的熟悉技巧，和各种各样的失败。大概总结一下通关技巧：
①既然墓地宝珠需要收集10个收集物，那么墓地自然也可以算作9个区域的选择之一；
②比较简单的区域是：初始冰地、塌方地面（速度快，不费事）、红蓝太阳（缺点是太慢）、扫雷（收集10个收集品之前基本没怪，推理的活）、镜子（收集品多，沿着十字路收集很快）、海滩（收集品多，在海滩能快速集齐）、藤蔓（每个藤蔓里都有收集品）、红绿开关（收集品多）、沙地（三角收集品多）；
③不要在猎狗区域收集，一会有用；
④击杀数目达到100才能解锁墓地，所以需要多打怪。
⑤当墓地区域收集10个后，快速离开，寻找十字路。这个时候十字路也会出现已完成区域的宝珠，包括墓地宝珠。否则一直在墓地不安全；
⑥主角的视野是7，所以至少要收集14个，不过建议应多尽多。在十字路耐心收集即可，并不危险；
⑦进入Hell区域后，建议先收集25个收集物，然后回到别的区域，最好是十字路。这个时候，通关宝珠将会在其它区域出现；
⑧最后找到猎狗区域。在这个区域耐心寻找，找到通关宝珠，然后一边扔路标一边找钥匙。选择这个区域的原因是，除非拿收集品，否则猎狗区域的猎狗不会主动攻击，非常安全；
⑨但是，拿到钥匙的一步会招来猎狗，所以最好提前准备一个分身或别的宝物。解决掉这波猎狗后，沿着路标回到宝珠即可通关。全程都不要收集宝物招惹猎狗。
以上就是我基于目前的体验，总结的所有内容了。
HyperRogue这个游戏非常不错，非常适合闲暇的一天里随便开一把（但请先确定当天没事，因为万一运气好，一局三四个小时都有可能，游戏没存档）。
唯一让我觉得不够好的地方，大概是那种对原教旨Roguelike的执念，只要失败，进度都会彻底归零，导致我每次想体验新区域时，都需要对那些区域的解锁条件准备很久。有的需要30个收集品，有的需要60个，有的需要90个，还有很多。至于Hyperstone，那我就真的不知道会不会尝试了。从我作为玩家的朴素情感考虑，我还是希望能有一个更加全局的区域解锁机制。永久死亡我完全能接受，但解锁区域的巨大成本，则未免有些过于消耗时间了。

Avant de commencer, je signale que je suis loin d'avoir exploré toutes les possibilités d'[i]HyperRogue[/i], même avec plus de 125 heures au compteur à ce jour. Je n'ai joué qu'en [i]Classic[/i] à l'exception d'une unique partie en [i]Orb Strategy mode[/i]. De plus, je me suis contenté d'améliorer mes scores en collecte de trésors. Je ne connais pas encore tous les [i]lands[/i] (terres / territoires).
Le principe est de survivre le plus longtemps en ramassant des trésors et en accomplissant des quêtes. Vous incarnez le [i]Rogue[/i] qui meurt au premier coup qu'il reçoit ([i]permadeath[/i]). Vous allez explorer divers [i]lands[/i] étranges qui ont leurs propres règles, propres monstres, propres trésors, propres moyens de vous tuer…
Si vous lisez certaines évaluations d'autres joueurs, des guides, des wikis… vous allez entendre parler de géométrie hyperbolique ou de plans hyperboliques. Ne soyez pas effrayé, même si vous êtes nul en mathématiques. Il n'est pas nécessaire de maîtriser ces concepts pour s'amuser.

[*] Bien que traduit en français, je recommande de le laisser en anglais pour profiter des guides et du wiki officiel. Vous retrouverez plus facilement les informations concernant les ennemis, les orbes, les éléments du décors…
[*] Il faut être conscient que certaines parties peuvent durer plusieurs heures. Il convient donc de connaître les règles de l'[i]Orb of Safety[/i], le seul moyen de sauvegarde. Je précise rapidement que cette orbe se débloque dans [i]Land of Eternal Motion[/i] et que l'on en trouve facilement dans [i]Prairie[/i].

Very interesting once you learn the specifics of how each land works.
One of the best (mechanical) games of all time. Really really interesting and full of content, more as time goes on
It's a game that's built on hyperbolic geometry, and only works because of hyperbolic geometry, but doesn't demand the player know anything about hyperbolic geometry, making it easily accessible. The breadth of different lands in the game, each with their own unique features, is really impressive and gives the game tons of variety. And unlocking more and more different magic orbs to appear is just fun. I love this game so much.
I'm not even gonna talk about the game other than say it's good, because other reviews can cover that. I'm going to talk about the absurdly powerful geometry sandbox that is included with the game.
You are probably aware that this game engine supports 2D hyperbolic space, but did you know it supports many types of 2D spherical spaces? And Euclidean spaces? And 3D hyperbolic, spherical, and Euclidean spaces? And even truly weird 3D spaces like Nil and Solv which make hyperbolic space feel like child's play. It's absurd how generalized the game mechanics have been programmed that the full game pretty much works just fine in different geometries, including 3D geometries. I mean, the developer could have optimized everything for a particular hyperbolic geometric tiling, but they put in a 3D engine and everything and let you play the game in first person (and other projections). Using the geometry browser, you can choose between dozens of different geometries to play on (and with modifiers like dual spaces, it probably extends to hundreds, and perhaps unlimited more using Archimedian notations and by loading geometries from files). While playing to win probably isn't fun or possible in many geometries, it's worth buying this game just to play around and visualize different geometries. Did I mention you can play a (simple) shoot-em up game in the different geometries?
The game even includes a aperiodic hat tiling, which was only recently discovered (in March 2023, I think). Humans didn't know if an aperiodic monotile existed before. That's right, the mad lad updated the game to include math we didn't even know existed before this year.
I can recommend this game to people who like games. But I can also recommend this game to people who don't like games but like math.

Very nice game. The hyperbolic space has a huge effect on the gameplay; the massive increase in space makes most tight situations easier to escape from, encouraging a more fast-paced playstyle. It's quite exhilarating. The core gameplay besides the gimmick is also very good, resulting in a tight experience. I'd love to see more puzzle roguelikes in the vein of this (probably not with the hyperbolic space though lol).

I enjoy the math behind this game and the variety of places and configurations is very fun!
HyperRogue is a creative and unique game that I would recommend to anyone intrigued by the idea of a roguelike in a non-euclidean world. The gameplay is deceptively simple, as you just click the tiles around your character to move and interact with the world (or click yourself to pass the turn). However, there's a lot to this game despite how simple the controls are. Each area in the world has its own challenges, creatures, and style of non-euclidean geometry to navigate, The game does a good job of making these areas feel unique, and learning how to survive in each of them long enough to grab however many treasures you want and then leave is part of the fun. Speaking of treasures, how many collect in an area before trying to find a way to another area matters. Do you collect 10, enough to cause that area's unique powerup orbs to appear within that area? Or 25, causing that orb to have a chance to spawn in other areas, but making it much harder to escape as the difficulty is increased in that area with each treasure taken? Play This Game!!!!!
Well. Hard to find the right words. Let me try though.
I love the game. Seeing that a geometrical conception which doesn't belong to our universe actually WORKS in a game makes me joyfull. Realizing that behind H.P. Lovecrafts tales of realms different to ours is more but pure fantasy - that this kind of geometry has an actual name and follows strict rules got me hooked.
Of course I remember those brilliant drawings of M.C. Escher, plus I am spending my time on learning the rules of Hyperbolic geometry now which is in fact based on some clever mathematicians.
But back to the game. I love that conception of a Hyperbolic chess within tons of different beautifully created biomes. I love the fact that you can create so many infinite realms at one place which are in fact infinite by themselves. After some photo-sensitive moments in the beginning due to that unusual movement of the landscape I think I got pretty used to navigation through that strange world as well as fighting hordes of enemies at once.
Want to say the game allows you to develop a quite new perspective on how to solve puzzles which are unfamiliar.
I think this game is a revolution for many different old genres in a new coat. I am fantasizing of games like Dungeon Keeper, DROD, Diablo etc in a Hyperbolic realm.
I already have recommended the game to a friend so we will play it together.
