Amazing game, immersive version of homeworld, I want more
Very good VR game
Does not seem to be an option to adjust/flip, the Pitch and Yaw mode, as is the case with practically every FPS or Flight 'sim' combat game ever over the last 30+ years. This a Game Breaker for me, as Im completely wired to use the standard Flight Yoke responses found in all Air Craft, real or simulated., Back means up, and Forward means down. Otherwise, The game is solid, and enjoyable for the price.
This game has great reviews and I would love to play it. However, I have a significant investment in Virpil HOTAS equipment and was drawn to this game because it claimed to be HOTAS compatible. Which is is, but yet is not.
I've got 15 hours in this game to date, of which at least 13 hours has been spent trying to get my custom HOTAS key bindings to stick. I can configure the settings exactly as I want them. The game implements my settings flawlessly. But, upon exiting the game it automatically, without any input from the player or providing a means to override the action, resets the key bindings to their default settings. So, while the game is "technically" HOTAS friendly, in order to play the game using HOTAS a user must enter their HOTAS key bindings EVERY SINGLE TIME THEY START THE GAME. Over and over. Game after game, after game, after game... Well, not anymore. At lease as far as I am concerned.
What really pisses me off is that this could easily be fixed by disabling the automatic routine and leaving it up to players to trigger the "Return to Default Settings" option if and when they wish. Instead of forcing it on everyone indiscriminately.

Fun game for short bursts. Jump in, analyze the battlespace, lead your assassin fleet while piloting a interceptor, complete objectives, jump out or stay back to take on a bigger threat.
There is also a survival mode.

Such a great experience, especially in VR, which is a must. I love the feel, sound and atmosphere. The only downside is its short and each mission there is the pressure to complete the objectives as fast as possible, so you dont get a chance to take your time.
I so wish the devs would revisit this title again and either update it or make a sequel or prequel. If you love sci-fi specially Battlestar Galactica, then this is for you.

Has awful performance too - a 7900XTX that's only hitting 10% utilization and sitting at 22-40FPS is atrocious. Fix your game. Until then, I'm blacklisting this developer.
Short and sweet, just about perfect. Not totally arcadey, but also not a simulator. It could really do with a mission editor because replay value is low. Pick it up on sale and you wont be disappointed.

Częściowo znalazłem czego szukałem - mechanika gry, klimat, misje to sam miód, przypominający mi stare czasy gdy rozwalałem kolejne dżojstiki próbując przechodzić FreeSpace na coraz wyższych poziomach trudności. Nie ma tu w sumie żadnych nowych pomysłów, których nie byłoby w klasykach gatunku, ale wszystko jest tak dobrze wymieszane, że przykuwa do ekranu do samego końca. Dwie największe bolączki tej gry to zaledwie szczątkowa (chociaż poprawna) fabuła i długość rozgrywki - zrobienie prawie wszystkich misji (poza jedną) na poziomie Harbringer i dotarcie do końca "fabuły" zajęło mi zaledwie 4h. Niby gra udostępnia potem jeszcze opcje przedłużające rozgrywkę i wyzwania na jeszcze wyższym poziomie, ale myślę, że niespecjalnie wydłużą one ten i tak nieimponujący czas rozgrywki. Mimo tych mankamentów polecam grę wszystkim miłośnikom gatunku, może nie za pełną cenę ale na wyprzedaży jak najbardziej.

Pretty good. A little short with not much of a story, but the gameplay is solid enough for what it is. Does scratch the space sim itch a little but makes me want more.
This is a good game, but it's certainly not excellent. Frustratingly, it's almost there. There is something missing in this game, maybe it got polished out or cut for time, tapered back. Maybe it's the fact that there is little downtime between combat missions. There is only one short tutorial flight to appreciate the flight model and controls. Maybe it's the sound design that stops just short of really making an impact. Seems like all the music is mixed quiet (reminds me of Project Wingman, could be a Unity bug), all dynamics but giving up completely on the loudness war, so it sounds hollow in comparison. Maybe it's the ethereal cosmic epic background narrative that has no relatable human element whatsoever, you can't put yourself in someone's shoes in this game.
I can't feel the soul in this game. Wait for a sale.

This was an absolute delight to play. I only had to tweak the M+K controls a little bit for them to work with my brain and it's a great mix of light RTS mechanics and space sim shooting. I think it taught things in a very intuitive manner (or maybe certain things just finally clicked for me thanks to the way the game tutorialized them, i have like 300 hours in elite dangerous, ymmv). It's light on story but what's there is very interesting. It's not a coincidence that one of the random pilot names is "pfh'oor" and a civilian ship name is "for sale, cheap."
There's people saying "this game isn't really that short if you 100%" but I 100%ed this game in about 14 hours, so it's still pretty short, but I might come back to play the wave survival or replay story missions sometimes.
Get it on sale for 6 bucks and have a really fun couple of hours. itll make you mad there aren't a dozen more of these games
The aesthetics and gameplay seem promising but the level select menu is bugged, making it stuck in a zoomed out state and borderline unuseable. It also doesn't seem like this will ever be patched. Perhaps another time.
As a long-time space sim fan, starting all the way back with the Wing Commander series, I was really hoping this game would deliver. Unfortunately, it falls short in several key areas.
The core concept is actually solid: piloting your own ship while also commanding a fleet is a great idea and could have been something special. Sadly, the execution doesn’t live up to the potential.
There’s little to no story or context, so it’s hard to understand who the enemies are or what your objectives really mean. Missions quickly become overwhelming even on the easiest difficulty, often ending in seconds without giving you a fair chance to react or learn. The game pushes you forward relentlessly, without any chance to earn upgrades, or improve future runs. Failing to progress just feels punishing rather than motivating.
Combat itself is frustrating. Aiming and targeting feel imprecise, reloads are frequent, and survival often seems based more on luck than skill. Bonus objectives are practically unreachable because you barely have time to focus on the main goal. The torpedo system is especially disappointing: you only get one, and using it often results in blowing yourself up before it even reaches the target, making it essentially useless.
Visually, the game looks dated — roughly mid-2000s level — and while some sound effects are interesting, the overall audio design is weak.
In short, this game has a good idea at its core, but it feels like it was made by developers unfamiliar with the space sim genre and what veteran players expect: clarity, progression, learning through failure, and meaningful upgrades. With better balance and design choices, it could have been something great ... unfortunately, in its current state, it’s more frustrating than fun.
Uninstalled forever. This game is a good example why you need a demo before actually buying the game.

Awesome space combat game. Nails everything I love. However, get it on a sale. There just is not enough meat on the bone to pay full price. I hope the dev uses this as a base for a much bigger game in the future. I will buy that in a heartbeat.
As for another negative. The missions are way too short and the time to fail window is very small. It's all very rushed and breaks immersion.
Overall, it's something I will play again in VR at some point.

On Pop!_OS 22.04 with a GTX 5060 Ti, game performance was not great no matter what graphics settings I chose, but mostly playable. Later missions became unplayable with framerate dipping below 20 FPS, which caused some insane input lag issue. When I tried to switch Proton versions to see if I could get better performance, I lost my entire campaign save. Cool game, but I don't think it works well under Proton for some reason.

There isn't really much of a story here, however based off the little that is here, I actually think the story was very interesting and I would love to see RPG or something revisiting the story, lore and an additional sequel expanding on this game's lore.
Gameplay

I love the space combat. I really like how seemless the game goes from a strategic overview commanding your fleet, to taking control of one of the fighters. The sound design really immersive. From the muffled sounds of the vacuum, from vibrations, to the sound of your weapons reloading, it is all perfection.
Visuals

The artstyle overall is serviceable. What really stands out to me is how the explosions are not just explosions, but you can see it slowly expanding in the vacuum, along with the plasma. I also like how the weapons are vented as they are reloaded.
Overall I highly recommend this game to anyone who has not played it yet. Between the visuals and the sound design, everything blends together beautifully to create a truly immersive experience. I would love to experience this game again in VR.

优点：流畅，太空空战题材，战雷级丝滑飞控，玩法较为多样，机动方式也别具一格，具有挑战性，支持vr
缺点：较难上手，特别是没有翻译导致的理解代沟。剧情极度欠缺，也幸好不多所以不用必须靠翻译。以及一些小问题，如靠太近霰弹炮打不到东西，教程关vr疑似有bug（最直观的就这俩）。
整体来说还是不错的，支持vr而且太空空战还略微有点tts的元素，很满足我对太空空战的幻想。但可能是技术或者什么别的原因导致使用低模有的时候还好，但正因如此加上没什么剧情导致我还是对僚机计划更感兴趣。
肯定是处在合格线以上的作品，对太空空战感兴趣的值得一试，没有兴趣的最好可以再考虑考虑。
游戏内个人经验是机炮就够用了，狙击稍微有点难用但特殊情况（龙级刺杀公主，我先灭的附加再砍的公主，对射程有一定要求所以拿的加伤大狙）也还是会用。副武器都不错，我恨不得全带上。对敌强烈建议先把flak无人机打掉，那玩意打人疼而且攻击效果晃眼。遇到大型战舰刺杀任务或者做旗舰刺杀可以考虑小折跃+三连滑翔炸弹+船体加伤，还可以副炮带喷子补伤害，唯一比较烦的情况就是对面有盾，必须副武器带个反盾的，不然削盾速度奇慢（再提一次龙级刺杀公主，仅次于龙级炸四个运输船，不过那个任务也有这个情况，小船带盾很难打，主要是不好钻或者直接钻不进盾。）不过每把节奏快不拖时间，还是比较有爽感的。

Smash Battlestar Galactica (remake), Homeworld, and Rogue-like elements together and you're 90% to House of the Dying Sun.
Great pick-up and put-down game. Missions are short and intense due to game loop design. The mechanics and narrative drive the point you are always under pressure to get in, hit the objective, and get out. Eventually, managing and commanding a fleet of NPCs (plus weapon unlocks) rewards the player with the ability to specialize NPC units for certain tasks and pursue 2 or 3 simultaneous objectives which is key to managing the later missions. I found commanding NPCs in the tactical map and real-time pause too useful to give up KB+M. HotDS worked great with HOTAS and TrackIR on Linux via Proton. I don't think the experience on controller or Steam Deck would be as rewarding.
Overall, I finished every mission through Harbinger difficulty over ~13 hours and had a great time. It didn't overstay its welcome (for me). For those who want more value, there is an escalating challenge mode and a fourth difficulty unlocked by completing the last story mission.
A very simple, yet wonderfully crafted story of a dying empires last revenge. The gameplay loop puts you firmly in the seat of a super fighter that is both a flying brick and a glass cannon. Being able to switch from 1st person flying to commanders map mode allows you to be both in the throws of action and a eager spectator. The biggest negative I have for the game is that there isnt more!
This game is tight as hell in every way, and was also made by some of the greats of the Prime Bungie Era who then proceeded to disappear into the sunset.

Fun and polished little game, It's a pleasure to see a game that knows what it is looking to achieve and does so without undue scope-creep. Good fun to play and hard to master, I am thoroughly enjoying it so far and I look forward to 100%ing the achievements on it in time.

Genuinley one of the coolest games I have played in thelast couple of years.
It's only flaw is that there isn't more of it. More lore, more galaxy to explore etc. But what it does have is damn near perfectly executed. If you are even slightly interested in space combat give this a try.

I come back and replay this game every other year my time on it speaks for itself. I love the later stages and replaying with the little fleet we get to see how far I can push it.
I love the music and the graphics I find amazing and it is just so immersive for what it is.

I thought this was a coop space fighter game. Nope.
With a difficulty spike like finding a tarantula on your toilet seat, good luck having any kind of fun as you wonder what order to do objectives and get mad that you're loadout was wrong from the first purchase of upgrades as you consistently die.
It's meant to be short but intense missions at under 5 minutes, but you're more likely to reset yourself or because of mission failure than a subpar performance, even on the lowest difficulty.
Anything above a fighter will hit you with multiple accurate shots and drain your health or kill you outright, and you don't get to play as those ships or get any kind of clue how you're supposed to take on each ship in each specific mission.
And the menu glitches out when you click, making you try to do one thing in a different menu you didn't click on.
"Oh, just change your strategy." I have, I'm getting trashed.
"Oh, get good." How about games get designed for fun, instead of difficulty, and you stop judging others for wanting to get skilled at a game without constantly dying or making it feel like a chore?

Really underwhelming, got boring almost immediately and it seems the game doesn't offer much more than I've experienced in less than 2 hours.
Really great little space combat game. Simple controls, just enough upgrades to offer some strategic choice, and each mission jumps right into the action - perfect for busy folks who like tactical space combat but only have an hour or so to game most days. The campaign is short, but the multiple difficulty levels offer a bunch of replayability. The lore and world building feels sparse but really evocative. It probably won't satisfy folks expecting 100+ hour sandbox campaigns, but if you just want something you can jump in, have a few dogfights, and jump out, it's a great pick.
As much fun as the space combat can be - the whole game feels extremely shallow. Only a couple hours in and I feel like I’ve experienced pretty much everything the game has to offer.
It’s a neat setting and the moment to moment gameplay feels nice - but I wouldn’t recommend picking it up for anything over 2 bucks. Only on sale, and only for a dabble.

An absolutely amazing space sim with excellent gameplay and a thrilling story. I loved each level and getting all of the different endings for each difficulty level. If you're into starfighter stuff like I am, this is absolutely the game for you. Keep in mind that it is fairly short (it took me around 4-5 hours to beat the story and nearly 8-9 hours to get 100% achievements), so maybe wait for a sale.
The game is short, yes. But it was a blast the entire time, incredibly fun. Pick it up next time it goes on sale.
An oldie but a goodie
Totally worth it if your into dog fighting. Plus as a full time working Parent, it doesn't demand and excessive amount of time to have a good time. The combat is top teir. The graphics aren't going to turn any eyes. But I'm a fan of how the game looks. The cell shading still feels immersive and the environments look great. I've been playing it in VR. If you have a head set I think for the price and quality of the combat this game is well worth it.

Really good, it was just so short. I found myself at the end of the game wanting for more. Control of larger fleets against larger and more powerful enemies, more weapons and upgrades, more complex commands, more specific RTS controls, etc.
It's a great game but I can't help but feel like the experience stopped well short of what it could have/should have been.

An absolute thrill from start to finish. Think Ender's Game, but not only do you command your fleet - you also fly a starship into battle personally. A remarkable blend of strategic RTS and space combat simulation, neither of which are particularly deep, but there's just enough going on to make you feel like you're a brilliant space commander. Doesn't hold your hand and encourages you to experiment. Destroyers are tanky, fighters are nimble and powerful, frigates are for heavy targets. Not to mention it comes in a slick package with beautiful visuals (2016??? seriously??? it holds up AMAZINGLY), a good soundtrack, and horrifying sound design. Seriously, I adore the sounds here. It's a viscerally terrifying experience and the only complaint I have is I wish they'd gone further. Screams when your ships die would have completed this experience IMO!!!
It is quite short, which is a shame, but it's spectacular and one of the best space combat games I've ever played. I also played through it in VR, which just makes it even better. Buy this, you won't regret it!

Upon startup, I can't get the ship to do anything. There's no indication that it's waiting for controller input. I'm glad there's controller support, but the tutorial just waits for you to spend 10 minutes figuring it out.
1st mission, and I really can't tell what's going on. Die very quickly. Just not a fun experience overall.

The variety is very limited too - you only play fighters, and you only have a few loadout options. Enemies will absolutely destroy you instantly and you often have very little time to react.
The game does a pretty bad job at explaining the more tactical parts of the gameplay with the map screens and adjusting your ship to threats. And missions never last long enough for you to really strategize beyond moving your ships to kill a target.
It felt decent early on, the last few missions are just kinda rough. This game feels like a proof of concept that never got enough budget to be made into a full game.
Too hard, not fun. No time to look at the stars.
I'm gonna thumbs-up this since it seems like a well-conceived game, and I'm sure others might get more out of it than me, but for some reason I couldn't get into it. Something about the initially brutal difficulty, weird control scheme, fusion of space combat and RTS.

Doesn’t support Oculus Quest 2 — totally broken.
The game doesn't respond to Oculus controllers at all. You can launch it, but that’s about it — no input, no reaction, not even in the settings menu. I danced around, waved the controllers like magic wands — nothing. It just sits there doing absolutely nothing. Should’ve refunded it right away.

Продолжительность игры, если закрыть все миссии на 3 звезды (не считая обороны планеты): ~5 часов
Весьма насыщена контентом для такой продолжительности, ничего не успело надоесть и еще сверху остались неопробованные типы оружия и модификаторы.
Проходил с джойстиком logitech extreme 3d pro (требовало минимальной настройки управления),. После завершения компании, играл с VR Pico 4

If you have a VR headset, this is a MUST PLAY, A FRICKIN MUST PLAY
Good gameplay, but VERY short campaign with little replay value. Also IMO the scale of the missions never reached the level of a true 'battle'.
If you like small, tactical dogfights then maybe consider buying during a sale. If you want a set-piece battle, HotDS is not the game you're looking for.

I presume this was excellent in 2016 when VR was a new thing, but considering where we are at 2025, this probably isn't worth your money. I didn't enjoy it.

This game is a wasted opportunity. It's a very mid title played on a traditional screen with M+K controls. It would be a solid VR title, but the lack of HOTAS support, M+K controls, or VR controller support is baffling. The gamepad controls are not ideal. If you want a good VR space fighting game, BattlegroupVR did a much better job of integrating VR and seamless controls, and Elite Dangerous is a much better simulator.
