Ein wirklich schönes Wimmelbild, mit guter Hintergrundgeschichte. Hat mir viel Spaß gemacht . Gute Rätsel,teilweise schon knifflig.
Great atmosphere, lots of locations to explore and plenty of puzzles to solve. Chasing a mysterious kidnapper though an abandoned boarding school next to a lake is always a good setting. I also really liked the music and sound effects, they added to the creepy vibe without taking you out of the game.
My only complaint is that some translations in the hidden object games are rough, but thankfully hints refresh after a minute or two in case you get stuck. The rest of the dialogue/text/journals do not have any translation issues, it was only a few spots in the minigames.
A good simple game, which you be like. For big sale you can take her! This a little history about big problem, which can be played with you angry joke. Than need be a kind and good persons! Be careful with your actions always!

Jedna z těch klasických hidden object her s detektivní zápletkou, kde musíte najít v hromadě haraburdí krokodýla, koláček, starou botu, motýla, korkový špunt, skleněnku, minci pro štěstí.... To je jasné, bez toho byste vyřešit záhadu a dopadnout pachatele nemohli. Jistě v nějakém paralelním vesmíru je to běžný vyučovací předmět na škole kriminalistiky.
Příběh sám o sobě není tolik fascinující, nebo abych spíše řekl, není ničem výjimečný. Ovladatelnost hry lehce horší, nebo méně pohodlná oproti jiným podobným hrám ze stejného soudku...
Ale co mě vcelku nebavilo?
Zbytečně zdlouhavé, trochu nelogické (ale tak to u těchto her až na miniquesty bývá) a hodně roztahané, co se týká mapy. Neustálé běhání sem a tam (chápu, že tvůrci chtěli vytěžit asi maximum z každé "místnosti", ale někdy je toho trochu moc).
Ale i tak, je to prostě oddychovka na pár hodin, hra, kterou se musíte proklikat. Buď ji skousnete, nebo ne.

Очень много головоломок. Бегаешь по карте, как угорелая в поисках тех или иных предметов.
Можно конечно пару минусов указать, что тыкаешь на предмет...а он не тыкается...Тыкаешь еще раз и вауля, он попадает в инвентарь)) Концовка слишком предсказуемая (на 10 секунд - БУКВАЛЬНО), но играем мы в такие игры не только ради сюжета) Хотя...в сравнении с True Fear, эта игра конечно уступает.
На вечер. На разок - самое то.
The game is pretty simple but I still had a great time!
This game has crap translations so sometimes you spend 10 minutes looking for a key only to use a hint a see that they actually meant wrench, or (my favorite) looking for a comb, deciding to try clicking the brush in case that's what they meant, get credit for comb, but then see that brush is also on the list (and in this case referred to what I can only assume was a possum pelt on the back wall...?). The clickbox for some interactive scenes was at times almost infuriatingly small, so that after half a dozen tries I had to use a hint to see exactly where the game wanted me to put the item.
BUT, this game doesn't penalize using hints, so I can spam that ish to my heart's content and still get all my sweet, sweet cheevos. Besides that, it scratched a definite itch that only horror-themed HOGs can handle. I felt kinda ick about the whole Native subplot and implied "oh no vengeful Indian spirits" vibe, and I did not have "Ed Gein without the skin suit" on my bingo card as the left hook that knocked us off that path. On the other hand, badges and cheevos. :D

There was only a few items that were named slightly wrong, for example, a brush was actually a feather duster.
I have played so so many HOGs over the years and this is one of the better ones, especially the story being decent. I did feel bad for Peter.
They could have included more than one music track playing all the way through, it did get on my nerves after a few hours of hearing it on loop. Sound affects and graphics were great, helped make it eerie and spooky, even more so if the music is turned off completely. Puzzles were mostly easy which is good because I dislike being stuck for ages, only one I got stuck on for too long was the book puzzle.
And a big big plus is that the achievements are doable and not frustrating, they pop as you progress through the game. I love that! Recommend if you are neurodivergent. Great game for Halloween!

Совершенно стандартная игра в жанре "поиск предметов". Скорей не понравилась, чем понравилась. Слишком много головоломок, прям сходу неадекватное количество и они накладываются друг на друга. Хоть они все легчайшие, но их обилие удручает. Становится непонятно, что вообще здесь происходит и что хочет от тебя игра в целом.
Сюжет ради галочки, просто "чтобы был". Музыка раздражающая, через полчаса от нее уже идет кровь из ушей. Одна мелодия на всю игру и то какое-то бренчание.
Рисовка нормальная, ничего особенного. Единственный плюс - наличие карты всех локаций и возможность быстрого перемещения между ними. А то в таких играх разрабы обычно любят делать непропускаемые переходы между локами. Спасибо тут нет такой духоты.
Концовка откровенно всратая. Буквально 10 секундная кат-сцена и всё, титры. Игра ни о чем.

Хрен с ним, игру с натяжкой порекомендую, так как это ненапряжный "Point & Click", в который можно залететь отдохнуть от других игр, требующих от тебя реакции кошки, грации картошки, невероятного аима и сохранения заветного эло и ммр или во что ты там задротишь, нагибая школьников.
Но есть парочка"но", к которым нужно быть готовым.
1. Наша героиня любит выкидывать предмет из инвентаря после разового использования, хотя через пару локаций он может снова понадобиться. Но вместо этого разработчики игры заставляют тебя носиться из локации в локацию в поиске практически такого же предмета, чтоб ты приблизился к разгадке тайны. Но несильно, не обольщайся, как только ты что-то открыл, отпёр, отковырял или привязал, для дальнейшего прохождения нужно будет снова лететь через 15 локаций к очередной скрипящей ступеньке, что достать какой-нить болт, пилку, камень, который продвинет на граммульку по сюжету, не больше. Всё бы ничего, но это длится на протяжении [u]всей игры[/u].
2. Для игр P&C свойственно рыться в изображении с кучей предметов и кликать по ним, согласно списку. И всё бы ничего, но тут это происходит каждые пять минут. То есть, предметов, которым как-будто бы не придумали сюжетного оправдания, настолько дохера, что их просто накидали в мусор, мол ищи, псина. Даже пару важных для открытия целой локации предметов ты будешь находить просто тупо в мусоре. И да, порылся в кучке - прошел пару квестов, возращаешься в роешься в ТОЙ ЖЕ КУЧЕ МУСОРА, ПОТОМУ ЧТО ТАМ СНОВА СОСПАВНИЛСЯ НОВЫЙ ПРЕДМЕТ. В ТОЙ ЖЕ, МАТЬ ВАШУ, КУЧЕ.
Вопрос: это интересно? Нет. Зачем тогда добавлять в сюжет столько предметов, без которых можно обойтись - не ясно. Яркий пример: героиня находит книгу, на страницах которой мелким шрифтом указан трёхзначный код. Мелким, но его реально видно. Но мы легких путей не ищем. Нам нужно найти линзу в десяти локациях от этой и только потом мы сможем крутить пароль на замке, до этого ГГ не может к нему притронуться :D.
И это под конец игры начинает раздражать, как будто разработчики хотели растянуть игру добавлением ненужных предметов, без которых квест можно пройти быстрее. Хотя можно было бы вставить больше кат-сцен, которых, признаться, мне не хватало, ибо голова гудела уже спустя пару часов беспрерывного вглядывания в мусорные кучи.
Отзывам поверила и не ошиблась. И правда, годный квест, который навевает воспоминания о временах, когда я пачками проходила подобные игры.
Сюжет, атмосфера и саундтреки вполне хороши. Но я бы на эксперте вообще убрала любые подсказки на карте, как это сделано в трилогии True Fear, а так меня все устраивает.

首先没有中文，这就是个点击游戏，没有汉化，对大部分玩家来说很致命。最难让我接受的是剧情拖泥带水并且很狗血，很多剧情都是单纯为了增加游戏流程。
最后我提示大家，这款游戏的地图是本游戏最大的作弊器，它会提示你哪里有任务，哪里还有东西没有做完。总的来说这款游戏除了封面的插图外，就再也没有一点让人眼前一亮的地方。

Довольно интересная история про детектива Келли Уэллс, которая расследует исчезновения в школе - интернате Hope Lake.
Школа была закрыта много лет, пока не привлекла внимание полиции. Причина: все девочки, которые ходили в школу много лет назад, исчезают с пугающей скоростью. Полиция подозревает, что существует связь между исчезновениями и смертью мисс Браун, печально известной воспитательницей Hope Lake. Утопление Браун стало толчком к закрытию школы-интерната, а ее смерть была признана несчастным случаем... но так ли это? Нам и предстоит это узнать.
Дальше были бы спойлеры поэтому опущу детали сюжета. Хочу отметить, что в игре действительно понравилось - это возможность перехода между локациями через карту, а не вручную перемещаться от точки А к точке Б.
В целом Hope Lake меня очень впечатлила, приятная игра в жанре «поиск предметов» с довольно интересным и интригующим сюжетом.
I can not in good conscience recommend this game, unless they update it with a proper translation. The hidden object games are near impossible to finish without hints or just clicking on everything due to at least one or two objects being mistranslated in every scene. Sure, with time you learn that wrench and key apparently is the same word in whatever this was translated from, but it is annoying and makes the game less fun. Also, the minigames are so easy they are not even fun, and even then, there are extra indications as to what exactly you are to do, with highlights almost doing the thinking for you. The story itself isn't too bad, but it is pretty much ruined by the horrible translation errors in the HOS.
An awful H/O game with nothing new to bring to the table.
It would be a decent game if not for the boring story, strange game flow or its frustrating labelling of items.
Keys and wrenches are swapped for some reason, other items are referred to vaguely and more "technically correct" but not helpful to the player at all.
The art is forgettable in its entirety except for the final cutscene witch if not for the release date i would have assumed to be AI "art" with how it rapidly changes in style and consistency.
In all i would advise against and to purchase something else.

Los puzzles y rompecabezas en su mayoría son fáciles o medios, si exploras adecuadamente y usas la lógica sin problemas resolverás y terminaras el juego. Salvo 2 o 3 rompecabezas pueden ser difíciles, a uno sino le entendí y ni supe como lo complete jaja
Si necesitas ayuda, siempre puedes usar la brújula (ayuda) e ir solucionando paso a paso el puzzle o simplemente esperar un tiempo y saltartelo.
Pero hay que tener cuidado, dado que algunos puzzles están asociados a logros por lo que si te los saltas deberas de comenzar una nueva partida.
Los puzzles son tradicionales, hay una imagen en pantalla donde debes de hurgar entre 20 objetos inutiles que te pide en la lista y solo uno te será útil.

My Grandmother use to play these type of games a lot, so I tend to have a soft spot for hidden object games and to be honest, this one would have stood out to her.
Unlike many hidden object games that rely heavily and solely on finding hidden items as the core mechanic, Hope Lake blends it with a variety of puzzles, requiring you to gather items and objects throughout the game to unlock the puzzles and solve challenges to progress. The game's suspenseful narrative, centered around the mysterious disappearance of multiple female students, keeps you engaged, wanting more and eager to uncover the mystery.
The only drawback was the mislabelling of items, which I am assuming was due to poor translation. This did make finding certain items challenging in a few stages.
Overall, I loved this game and would highly recommend it to those who want a hidden object game but do not like the repetitive nature they can provide. This game has such a wide variety of different puzzles and objectives which keeps you constantly engaged and wanting more.

This game is a short and simple experience that can be completed in about three hours. The story is engaging, but much of my playtime involved being AFK. It’s a cheap game, so don’t expect anything too elaborate, but it’s enjoyable overall. There is an translation error in the fountain HOG with the word "trumpet" given to a pipe. Other than that I enjoy the game a lot.
I'm conflicted. I had a fun time with this game but there are some things that ruin the experience.
The biggest thing is the looped music. There is something like a minute of music which is looped through the whole game.
The gameplay is pretty basic. It's not too hard but some puzzles can be annoying. I've also seen that at one specific point in the game there is no indicator on the map which made me going through every screen to find the next thing to do.
And the story... The story can be told in 2 phrases. It's straight forward, without any twists. It's not deep in any kind. The ending is short and left me thinking "that's it?". It's like at some point the team forgot about conclusion. Just bang, the end.
I had hopes for this game. In my opinion if you want to spend some mindless time for few hours, give it a try. If you're looking for a good hidden object game with medium or better story then stay away from "Hope Lake". It left me without hope and to be honest without nothing.
Hope lake is hidden object, point and click puzzle mystery game published by RunServer. Don't buy this if you want to save some money, same company published Sacred Almanac Traces of Greed for example which was way better. Go buy that, if you want to try this publishers games.
Plot summary - You get called by local police to investigate missing person case, when you hear there has been several girls who has gone missing, all being students of the Hope Lake boarding school. You fuel your car and arrive to the abandoned boarding school and you unveil the story of a teacher who accidentally drowned. You soon meet with a strange person with a long cape and a hoodie covering their head, who seems to be behind all of this. You are set on an adventure where you try to conclude what happened to the girls and stop the mysterious bad guy.
Plot itself wasn't anything extraordinary, it was somewhere around being decent. I had little bit hard times focus on the cut scenes, since the plot didn't really seem to be so interesting. I would still say it was decent for this type of a game.
I sadly can't recommend this game to anyone at this price point. Maybe if it were less than a euro, but not worth 8 euros. Mechanics have several flaws. Like someone said in earlier review what i noticed first was that you can't alt + tab to desktop without the game crashing your computer. I couldn't even close the game from task manager and had to restart the whole computer from the power button. I had to jump few times to use the dictionary (I'll explain later) and it just crashed on me. I would have wanted to play the game in a window mode, since the scene hopping animations made my head hurt, but it wasn't possible since the game crashed if you tried to put the full screen mode off. Also there was only two (2) difficulty levels to choose from, easy and harder. Which is not ideal in my opinion, but better than nothing. No extra chapters or extra content, no soundtracks to listen or artwork displays in main menu.
There is decent amount of HO scenes and puzzles, but if i remember correctly all of them get repeated at least few times. Which isn't good thing in my opinion. It's fine if you play the same HO scene twice sometimes, but all of them? No thank you. Several had some really niche not commonly used words. Since as a person who speaks English better than average non native speaker and has good understanding of the language i did not know what for example pince-nez was or sextant, i had to hop on to a dictionary to see what i was even trying to find. I don't deduct points because of that though since it's completely problem in my end and me not knowing.
Some HO scenes had wrong names for the items though or at least less commonly used names what comes to the items. For example clearly a remote control was called control panel, wrench was multiple times just a key and bucket that looked like it was made of a wood and could be paired with a mop was called basket. Mechanics in the HOs were little bit off too, you had to click really well of the object to get it and it didn't always take it even if i clearly hit it. Wasn't enough if you clicked two pixels off. Graphics of the game weren't that optimal for the scenes either, since sometimes the items you were looking for blended in the background and other times they just popped out so obviously like they didn't belong there. Several typos was seen too, like in the dentist room there was sentence that started with "Thathere's", when it clearly should have been just "There's". Several words in HOs missed s in the end, like binoculars was just binocular. These are small mistakes though, but noticeable. Game itself was little bit too straightforward for me and added to the fact that the puzzles were super easy, made the game little bit boring to play personally. I would have said that it's maybe better for a younger audience than me, but since it's mildly horror themed i wouldn't let kids play it.
What comes to the artwork if i don't count the poor graphics in now, it was decent. Not my favorite across the genre, but i didn't completely hate it. Also background music and game sounds were decent i guess, since i barely noticed or made any specific remarks on those. There were little bit of voice acting, it was ok, have seen worse so points given on that.
What positive i can say from this game that while it was easy, i still got like 3 hours play from it. It has 30 steam achievements, which you can't miss if you play the game to the end. So it's a easy complete game, which is clearly a big plus. Just because the last stated fact, i could recommend this game to a people who like to collect complete games to their profile, BUT ONLY if it's on huge sale. I'm talking like -60% or -80% something like that. It comes to a sale sometimes, because it bought it from like summer sale i think.

It is a fun game. Suffering from all the same problems other hidden object games suffer from.

The thing that tipped the review into negative is the hiffen object sections.
Find a comb, object I need to collect is a brush.
Find a key, Pretty sure THAT is a wrench.

I like these types of games. They are silly with weird logic and it is fun.
This one almost broke me.
I first have to say that i never encountered such a bad translation for the HOS were a key is a wrench and a wrench is a key. And this is only one example for it. The game itself was pretty ok, sadly it had a few moments where you needed a tool that you had a bit earlier. Most of the minigames were really easy to handle, there was only one annoying puzzle that i skipped. The story was pretty nice and the overall graphics were really nice and cool. There were very few cutscenes, which was a bit sad, but not really bad. All in one a pretty nice game, if you dont look at the HOS translation for many objects, which i pretty much liked. I can really recommend it.

"Hope Lake" ist ein Wimmelbildspiel.
In der verlassenen Hope Lake Boarding School geschehen merkwürdige Dinge. Vor Jahren ertrank einer der Lehrer, jetzt verschwinden mehrere ehemalige Schülerinnen. Wir machen uns auf den Weg zu der Schule, um Indizien zu finden und begegnen einer geheimnisvollen Gestalt in einem Kapuzenumhang.
Ein zwar klischee-behaftetes, aber spannendes Setting. Eine mysteriöse Verbrecherjagd, die für das Genre durchaus gut erzählt wird. Hinweise wie Zeitungsartikel oder Photographien sind stimmungsvoll und durchaus interessant.
Spielmechanisch sind wir im ganz klassischen Wimmelbild-Wahnsinn, in dem es in Screens darum geht, bestimmte Objekte, die namentlich genannt sind, zu erspähen. Auch finden wir Gegenstände, die wir aufsammeln und benutzen oder einsetzen müssen. Und es gibt einige Rätsel, etwa gleich viele wie Wimmelbilder. Dabei handelt es sich meist um klassische Schiebe- Schalter- und Kombinationsrätsel, die meisten davon relativ einfach und gut machbar.
Überhaupt ist der Schwierigkeitsgrad insgesamt ziemlich niedrig und wir werden auch immer wieder an der Hand genommen und auf den nächsten Rätselort hingewiesen. Daraus ergiebt sich ein recht angenehmer Spielfluß, der kaum ins Stocken kommt. Lediglich an einzelnen Rätseln kann man sich potentiell verbeißen. Im einfachen Modus können wir diese dann aber auch überspringen.
Die Story ist fast durchgängig streng linear. Wir haben also so gut wie keine Chance, vom vorbestimmten Weg wesentlich abzuweichen.
Die Spielmechanik funktioniert sauber, auch wenn einiges repetitiv wirkt. Die Grafik ist recht gut, trotz teils staksiger Animationen. Die Sounds sind passend.
Hin und wieder kommt es in den Wimmelbildern zu Verwirrung auf Grund von Übersetzungs-Ungenauigkeiten, weil offenbar eins zu eins aus dem Englischen übersetzt wurde, ohne das Ergebnis noch einmal von einem Muttersprachler kontrollieren zu lassen. Häufig sind diese kleinen Schwierigkeiten aber nicht. Die Zeitungsartikel sind erstaunlicherweise sogar recht gut formuliert.
Ein an sich also insgesamt gutes WImmelbild-Spiel? Der Eindruck ist zunächst jeden Fall fast durchweg positiv. Die Atmosphäre stimmt, die Bedienung funktioniert, Rätsel und Spielspaß sind gut. Wären da nicht die grundlegenden Probleme, auf die man erst nach etwa zwei Drittel der Spielzeit stößt.
Irgendwann treten nämlich Bugs auf, die möglicherweise darauf hindeuten, daß das Spiel nicht sauber zu Ende entwickelt wurde. So fehlen auf einmal Gegenstände im Inventar, die man schon eingesammelt hatte. Diese Probleme lassen sich zwar durch Neu-Laden beheben, aber manche - so auch ich - kommen an eine Stelle, an der nichts mehr geht, weil dem Spiel Rätsel und Gegenstände ausgegangen sind. Auch die Hilfefunktion ist ratlos und findet keinen Ort mehr, an dem noch irgendetwas zu machen wäre.
Über das Spielende kann ich somit nichts berichten, denn ich habe es nicht erleben dürfen. Wobei eigentlich schon von Anfang an klar sein dürfte, wie die Auflösung in etwa aussieht.
Bis zu dem Zeitpunkt des abrupten Spielendes hatte ich eigentlich eine gute Zeit und hätte dem Game 7/10 Punkte gegeben. Durch den unfreiwilligen Stoppunkt kann ich das Spiel allerdings nur für Leute empfehlen, die potentiell auch zwei Drittel eines an sich guten Games zufrieden sind.

It's amazing! Hope Lake has a great and interesting story, and the atmosphere and soundtrack were enough to give me chills! It is the best hidden object game I've ever played!
It was somewhat difficult because I had to go in and out of the entire big and wide map to find every clues and solve every puzzles, so it was so exciting. Also, the atmosphere of the mystery-thriller genre was very well realized. The difficulty of the puzzles was not easy, so it had the effect of increasing players interest of the game. That is, It is a somewhat difficult and complex game compared to other simple and easy hidden object games, making it easy for players to get into its gameplay.
However, I don't know if the developers are clumsy in using English, but I am a little bit embarrassed because there were too many errors in usage of words and sentences. In addition, there are parts that are a bit less realistic and probable in the story composition. For example, there are parts in which an unarmed female detective boldly enters the house even though she saw a suspect is in there, and she knew she might be in danger. But the suspect continuously just runs away from the protagonist. Also, there were some other scenes that were not scientific and realistic.
Nevertheless, it's a bit unreasonable to expect the full realism of such a story from a hidden object game, so I'd like to give it a good review. Personally, I think Hope Lake is a great game! If you buy it at a discount, you can enjoy the best.

A decent experience. But the object interaction is a bit too strict; please consider making the applicable area larger. Often I was just a bit off from what the game wanted.
This game is brutal. It's impossible to complete most of the puzzles without becoming incredibly frustrated. I usually finish these games off with a morning coffee, but this one... not good.
The colour scheme makes it really difficult to see things that you're supposed to notice for pickup, and makes the hidden object mini games really difficult, and not in a good way. Everything just looks the same. Half the words that they ask you to find are terrible translations and you end up needing to use hints just to find out that what they said and what they wanted were completely different things.
The point and click puzzles, where you have to use items from your inventory, are what broke the game entirely for me though. The hit box where you need to drop items is often just a few pixels big, so you have to drag and drop the same item over and over again until you hit the right spot. Meanwhile, the game is telling you that you're doing the wrong thing but the hint points to exactly what you're doing.
20 minutes in and I was so mad. Easy uninstall.

Celkem fajn adventura. Používání předmětů dává smysl a logické puzzle jsou originální a neopakující se. Chválím přehled lokací s upozorněním na dostupnou akci v nich. Grafická stránka hry je standardní jako u všech těchto her. Hudba je sice pěkná, ale ocenil bych více než jeden song ( po čase začne lézt na nervy ). Příběh nestojí za řeč, v roli detektivky hledáte unesené dívky. Celkově chválím za snahu o originalitu puzzlí a český překlad i když se špatně zobrazuje diakritika a ve slovech chybí nějaké to písmenko.

sadly i wouldnt reccomend this HOP game, ive played many over the years and im hardly one thats difficult to please, the map travel system and such were good and looking over the minor plot holes what got to me was the hidden object puzzles, about halfway through and the closer to the end i got the more this started happening but objects just werent labelled correctly, for instance how is a key named a wrench? there were 3-5 of these type items that were only findable by clicking around on random objects or using a hint because you just couldnt trust the label. on top of that the selection area on some items were also terrible where i found i was clicking on the correct item but in apparently it must have repeatedly been in the wrong place till i used a hint that pointed at the same item. overall i just cant say the game was very playable i found by the end the only reason i finished was because i played in the easier difficulty and by sheer willpower instead of enjoyment

Классная игра в жанре поиска предметов, с интересным сюжетом, кучей различных головоломок и удобным управлением.
За свою цену игра даёт нам с головой погрузиться в загадочную и местами жуткую атмосферу. Действовать мы будем от лица детектива, расследующего пропажи и убийства девушек.
Кат-сцен много, реплики и действия проработаны, мини-игры интересные. Местами слишком сложные, но их всегда можно скипнуть. Ачивки выбиваются в процессе прохождения, перепроходить не придётся.
В общем отличная история, которая понравится каждому. Разок пройти вечерком советую.

Standardowa gra przygodowa z ukrytymi przedmiotami.
Jako detektyw podejmujemy się zadania odnalezienia zaginionej dziewczyny będącej kolejną ofiarą lokalnego porywacza. Szybko okaże się, że sprawa ma związek z wydarzeniami z przeszłości. Ma to nawet jakiś tam klimat, choć historyjka jest raczej nieskomplikowana i głupiutka, nawet jak na standardy tego typu gier. Od biedy nie nudzi, choć na zwroty akcji liczyć nie ma co.
Graficznie jest marnie. Wszystko wydaje się jakieś niewyraźne. Doskwiera to zwłaszcza w scenach z ukrytymi przedmiotami, bo czasem zastanawiamy się, czym w ogóle jest jakiś obiekt. Wygląda to tak, jakby wszystko miało oryginalnie dużo mniejszą rozdzielczość, która została jakoś sztucznie podbita.
Nie najgorzej wypadają jednak wszelkie łamigłówki. Jest ich sporo i są dość urozmaicone, choć standardowe dla gatunku. Znalazło się nawet zadanie z wieżami Hanoi.
Gra ma spartoloną polską wersję językową. Po pierwsze – w wielu miejscach nie wyświetlają się polskie litery, przez co często trafia się niezrozumiały bełkot pokroju „wcz fontann” (zamiast „włącz fontannę”) lub sama litera „w” zamiast „wąż”. Po drugie – w przerywnikach filmowych brakuje polskich napisów (z ciekawości odpaliłem grę po niemiecku i tam napisy już są). Po trzecie – samo tłumaczenie bywa błędne, na przykład dłuższą chwilę w scenie z ukrytymi przedmiotami szukałem pleśni, a chodziło o formę (zapewne źle przetłumaczono angielskie „mould”). Da się jednak wszystko zrozumieć, a gra w żaden sposób nie karze za używanie podpowiedzi.
Od biedy można zagrać, ale olewając tę grę, niczego nie stracicie.

I really appreciated the flashlight feature that you have to find at the beginning. It can be used (optional) for any location, HOS, or dark corner.

-Many, many places to search and explore. A good number of HOS without feeling over run by them.

Но т.к. после прохождения, нет возможности загрузки, а только новая игра, я не решил ее снова проходить.
Потому моя оценка игры окончательная 5 из 10.

"Hope Lake" я приобрёл ещё в далёком 2017 году, но руки дошли лишь сейчас, в 2023 году. По какой причине - уже не помню (скорее всего, сыграли свою роль интересный дизайн и дешёвая цена на распродаже в 60 рублей). И спустя 5 часов прохождения могу сказать, что игра вызвала [u][i]смешанные чувства[/i][/u].
Скажу сразу, я не фанат кликеров, жанра "hidden object" ("поиск предметов") и в них не разбираюсь, так что поделюсь своими впечатлениями.
В большинстве случае вы будете тут закликивать всё до отказа, и это мне не особо зашло, откровенно говоря. И вроде бы всё это разбавляется загадками и мини-играми, что радует. Но увы, загадки тут в большинстве случаев лёгкие, хотя предпоследняя (где нужно соотносить жертв с их вещами) вызывает недоумение, а решение есть не в каждом прохождении, т.к. многие скипают её из-за непонимания и бага. И с такими "правилами" можно смириться, вот только очень быстро надоедает не только всё кликать и наслаждаться эффектом взрыва (да-да, если во время поиска предметов быстро кликать, будет анимация взрыва), но и бегать из одного места в другое, чтобы взять один предмет и уже с ним решить одну загадку, а после всего этого вновь бежать и повторять процедуру десятки раз. Да, есть разнообразие в виде мини-игр, где уже приходится думать мозгами, но они не особо спасают положение.
Также у нас тут есть подсказки, которые имеют перезарядку, но по большей части вы будете всегда смотреть на карту и кликать на места с восклицательным знаком; с одной стороны, может показать это чересчур казуальным, с другой - без такой легальной подсказки запутаться в множестве локаций и задач крайне просто.
Многие отмечают (суда по обсуждениям) не самую хорошую техническую сторону, но честно, я столкнулся лишь с тем багом на той самой предпоследней загадке: предметы двух областей очень странно перемещаются между собой. Но у меня как-то так решилось это: в свойствах игры поставил запуск от имени администратора, при нажатии на игру почему-то ничего не запускалось, снял галочку, игра запустилась, и баг прошёл.
И вот честно, на многое я готов был закрыть глаза, если бы сюжет был очень интересным. И поначалу он действительно интригует, но ближе к середине можно догадаться, кто является убийцей, а вот уже с середины тебе прямо намекают, кто он, из-за чего интерес к игре убывает. А концовка не вызвала никаких чувств, только безразличие лишь.
Что в итоге? "Hope Lake" - достаточно средняя игра, от которой лично я не получил прям отрицательных эмоций: пару вечерков проходил, мозги разгрузил, внимательность проверил, - в общем-то, доволен. Да и несмотря на время прохождения, по ощущением игра очень быстро проходится, и ты не успеваешь раздражиться. И тут, на мой взгляд, уместна именно [u][b]средняя оценка[/b][/u]. Но раз выбор лишь между положительной и отрицательной, я выбрал вторую из-за слабого сюжета: вроде бы начало заинтересовывает, но затем интрига раскрывается быстро, и интерес быстро улетучивается.
It's a somewhat below-average HOG:
* completely random jumping around the map for next step, basically you need to rely on map hints unless you have infinite patience
* story makes no sense, and there's a lot of walls of text
* very frequent translation issues, a lot of objects have really weird labels. All the time I was trying to guess which country devs were from, to get such weird translations. For all I know they might have just thrown Russian text at Google Translate for this.
* the few minigames are really easy and not challenging at all
It's playable, and I don't hate it, but there's a lot of much better ones.
Although the game is old, and does not have bells and whistles, it is still a really good game. It is very long, graphics, story line and atmosphere is creepy and well done.
I recommend this game.
Bad HO game
Ok, so... I'm recommending this one, and I don't wanna be too harsh, but I'll put some criticism here.
It's longer than your average Artifex Mundi games, the art isn't bad, but this one has some bad problems that you usually see on older hidden object games - despite this one having animated parts and no doubt being quite a lot of work to do all that.
Hidden object parts have a few nagging issues - namely more than one object with the same name, a few names that are just plain wrong, and a few that it seems the game is using some obscure name for the object just to complicate things... or perhaps it's just mistranslated.
I played the game a bit spaced out in between sessions, but I remember a few examples close to the end... there is one hidden object part that a wrench is actually a key, and another one with a key actually being a wrench - probably a bug or translation error. There's one part you have to find a "patch", you can see on in the shadow on a pillow, and then another in the clear. There is one scene with around 4 different masks in the scene but only one is the right one. Then there are scenes that asks for a specific part, you have objects with those parts there, and it's inconsistent whether you need the part without the rest, or it can be the whole... for instace, the game asks for a "wing", there are winged statues in the scene, but you don't know if the wing from the status counts, or you have to find one by itself.
Other minor problems in hidden object parts is that sometimes the stuff that you need to find is so close to the bottom you end up getting out of the scene... not enough to break the game though.
The other issue in this game I've seen in some Artifex Mundi games before - from start to finish you open up every scene and they never close down, meaning you have to go back and forth exploring the entire map several times over to find what to do next. This shouldn't be a major issue for people playing it normally, but it was a hassle to me because I don't like using the map. By the end of the game I ended up having to use it... there are just too many screens in the game to keep track of, with too many puzzles and objects to pick up to open this chest, door, cupboard, unlock a puzzle, fix something, cut something open, etc.
Because this game is long like this, there are a few times where item specificity is also a bit bad... I can't remember exactly what it was, but stuff like needing a knife again when you just had one, or having an object that would work perfectly to do something but nope, you need something else for that.
This comes a bit with the story I guess... it's set in relatively modern times, I think there are limitations on how many mechanical combinations you can have between an object you have in hands, and what it can do in the scene. You know, stuff like hidden object puzzle games insisting on using coins to unscrew flathead screws even when you have something that would work better for the job, or how apparently you always need a shovel to remove some dirt even when the object is half out already, some sort of acid to open up locks...
Anyways, all those are still minor problems tbh. I didn't get stuck for too long on any of the hidden object parts or puzzles, some stuff are a bit annoying but not infuriating, so it's a bit like older hidden object games, but longer than average. Still good fun for those addicted to this genre. xD
A good time killer. Story was engaging, puzzles were fun. I like that it doesn't hold your hand, you actually have to look around an area for clues/items. These parts stumped me several times, making me reach for the hint button. Always watch your little hand when scrolling around! Some of the words in the hidden object parts are weird for the items you're looking for. I was looking for a "wrench" in a puzzle, but when I finally gave in and used the hint button, it was apparently a key. :/ Hmm.. I guess it kept me on my toes!
It's fun, easily beat in a couple hours, you get to play as a cool female detective! Get it!
The game is actually pretty nice BUT the translation for the objects to be found in HOS is utterly terrible. It's so bad that the object "wrench" has the search word "key". The studio failed to hire someone who really knows the language and delivered this unfinished piece. Very disappointing, as this should be one of the main focus areas, when developing a HOG.

Сама игра неплохая - загадки интересные по большей части. Сюжет - ну, в принципе, тоже норм. Игру прошла до конца, несмотря на потраченные нервы из-за геймплея.
В игре нам периодически дают кучу хлама, в котором нужно искать предметы по их названиям. И здесь - то ли [b]на переводчиках сэкономили[/b], то ли изначально описание предметов давали на отвали.. Просят найти в бочке "шерстеренку", которая вообще не выглядит как шестеренка, а скорее пуговица с ярко красным камнем. Потом ищем "ключ", который оказывается не замочный ключ, а гаечный, и так далее. Очень много времени уходит на то, чтобы понять, что вообще надо искать. Ещё могут попросить найти маску, а их в хламе 3 штуки. И сидишь, тыкаешь - [i]не эта, ой, и не эта, а какая же?[/i]
Кроме того, игра очень [b]критична к нажатию на определенный пиксель[/b]. Серьезно, у меня ушел минимум час из 3,2 на то, чтобы понять, в каких моментах я реально туплю, а где игра меня обманывает. Спустя несколько минут хождений туда-сюда и решения всех других загадок, выясняется, что на самом деле МОЖНО было использовать такой-то предмет в таком-то месте, но я просто "не туда" нажала, и игра мне сказала, чтобы я "придумала что-то ещё". И так через раз.
С поисками хлама та же история - если нужно найти колье с тоненькой цепочкой, то с первого раза никогда не получится, даже если ты его видишь - нужно найти "тот самый" пиксель.
Подсказки есть и не влияют на получение достижений или иной прогресс. Частично компенсируют моменты, когда ищешь ключ, а оказывается, что надо было искать гаечный. Тем не менее, [b]иногда подсказки бывают бесполезны[/b].
Например, вызываешь подсказку, чтобы найти последний предмет, который уже минут 5 ищешь, а подсказка предлагает разбить голову статуе, в которой пока ничего нет.
В итоге ждешь ещё минуту до следующей подсказки - класс.
Или ещё ситуация, в которой я оказалась - открыто 90% локаций, все загадки решены, и на карте больше нет действий. Непонятно куда идти дальше, а локаций уже много - не заходить же во все и тыкать всё подряд, что уже тыкал. Вызываешь подсказку, а она на всех локациях говорит "Нужно идти дальше, здесь ничего нет". Я быстро допёрла что делать, исходя из предметов в инвентаре, но первые несколько минут я бродила в панике, и уже думала, что игра сломалась. Кто-то может и не догадаться, в конце концов, для чего нужны шланг и канистра.
Касаемо IQ главной героини, что она не может гвоздодером выдрать доски, и ей нужен именно лом, или она не может поддеть ключ ничем, кроме спицы - без комментариев - этим многие подобные игры страдают.
The Box got me. Game breaking bug at a certain box. Went as far as tried to modify the code to change the state of the box and successfully broke the game. Boring and shallow, tons of errors with object names, music is highly repetitive. DO NOT BUY!
It's a decent hidden object game with an ok story. There is a lot of backtracking, but that is typical of HO games. I didn't have any lofty expectations so I enjoyed it for what it was.
I didn't have any issues with it that I can remember. I did restart the game because it had been a long time since I had last played it when I decided to pick it up again.

Compared to other games of this genre, Hope Lake is clunky, has out dated graphics and interfacing, and is poorly scripted. Better HOG titles can be found for the same price.

I neither recommend this game nor say you shouldn't play it. It's a fine time killer, its a 5-10 hour game but there are some serious flaws.

[*] There are also some mistakes that were overlooked and never fixed, such as in the hidden object scenes where it seems the words were mixed up (in one puzzle it said wrench but you clicked a key, in another it said key but it was actually a wrench), or [spoiler] Mrs. Braun's name being mistaken for Brown on her Grave. All in all I wouldn't play this game again or recommend it for someone looking for a great hidden object game, at the same time i don't regret playing it as it did entertain me for a bit.
This is my type of game, so I found it very enjoyable.
I was really looking forward to this game and I did finish it but be warned, a lot of the words/items were mixed up. Sometimes I'd be looking for a "wrench", clicked on an actual wrench but it wouldn't take it. I'd leave that to the end of the hidden object mini game, then I'd click on the hint button, only for it to highlight a -key-. This happened several times throughout the game. A "bow" was listed on the list at one point and I had two options: a ribbon tied in a bow, or the bow of a violin. I clicked on both multiple times. The game wouldn't accept it. After getting a hint, only then would it allow me to click on the violin bow. But mostly, the mixed up words/objects threw me for a loop the most. The story itself was interesting. I'd likely give the game a 3 star out of 5 rating.
