Storyline

You are teleported to Seleos, the moon of the planet Menra. In front of you, a metal box opens, and inside, you find a note from Ektor Turren, the only survivor of a cataclysmic event that destroyed his world. In his note, he explains that he wishes to leave you the treasure that he accumulated during his whole life. From that, you’ll have to explore the islands on Seleos to discover who was Ektor Turren, what happened to him and to his world, where to find the treasure and go back home with it…

This game is amazing. What a peaceful, beautiful Myst-like experience. I was not prepared for how much a few notes containing the lore of the place , combined with perfect ambience and musical score would affect me. It has been a while since a game has provoked such a good emotional response. When I finished and "THE END" showed up on screen I just sat and watched and thought back on the story and the message the indie developer was conveying through the video game medium, and I just LOVED IT. Well done! It was an honor to play this game.

A fun puzzle game experience, more on the shorter side but quite polished. Puzzles are very figure-out-able though it does often require the classic puzzle game thing of aimlessly walking around then going to bed to think on it. Also, note to potential players - left mouse click increments numbers, right mouse click decrements them (in case you don't look at controls like me)

There are some parts that could have been improved, such as [spoiler] when searching for the signal on the telescope, the gauge does not go up unless you are already really close to the correct co-ordinate, leading to a lot of brute-forcing.

The power grid was also pretty confusing, and though I think I understand how it works now, I didn't while playing. The bridge mechanic there was cool though.
It would also have felt more satisfying if the puzzles had more immediate feedback when solved, instead of just becoming no longer interactable.
On that note, it would have been great to see certain things happen, like the cannon shooting a lightning/laser beam in the direction it's pointed at, though I understand how with the way the Ateons were made to work, it hits while you're in them and not in the cannon control room.

Finally, the ending felt a bit on the nose and kinda anti-climactic. If the value of knowledge was even subtly mentioned, or a bit more world building in general, it would have held more weight. [/spoiler]

However, I don't feel that the above took too much out of the game for me. I still thoroughly enjoyed it, and think Haven Moon will stay with me for a while. Fantastic job for a solo dev!

Echt schön gemacht 3D Geschichte. Super Grafik für dieses ältere Spiel. Man kann gemütlich durch die Gegend streifen und sich die simulierte Landschaft anschauen. Schöner "Spiegel" der verschiedenen Objekte (Wasser / Oberflächen vom Metall / ect.) Zudem netter und nicht aufdringlicher Sound dabei. Die Rätzel : Anfangs kommt man noch gut ohne Lösungshilfe zurecht. Da ich persönlich jetzt nicht Bock habe, z.B. eine lockere Schraube an einem Gebäudekörper tagelang zu suchen, nehme ich gerne hierfür die Lösungshilfe in Anspruch. Soll ja nicht frustig werden, das Spiel. Aber muss man natürlich nicht. Wer auf "Run & Klick" Adventure steht, kann ich das Spiel 100% empfehlen

A couple of "miscommunicated" objectives/puzzles, but all in all a great "Myst inspired" game.
It is actually as if Myst and Riven had a baby, a nice blend of both games.
"Baby" also happens to be the appropriate word, as it is much smaller than Riven (and Myst for that matter), so play it at your own pace, absorb the enviroment/atmosphere and don't get put off by the backtracking required, you won't spend enough time in these enviroments to get sick of them.
There are two endings (there's auto-save, don't fret), so you may think about how you perceive the word "treasure" (speaking about the treasure you are promised on the very fisrt letterpage you encounter)
Bought it on discount, did not regret the purchase at all!

Absolutely loved it, as a longtime devotee of Myst and all its ilk. Beautiful environments that felt plausible and lived-in as well as fantastical. Puzzles that, for me anyway, did an excellent job of riding the weird line that gave the old Cyan games so much of their appeal--obviously contrived, but also integrated well with the fabric of the world. I haven't found many Myst-likes that do that aspect so well. The game is certainly on the smaller side, but I adored my time with it and felt it was well worth the asking price. Huge thanks to the solo dev for the experience, wish they had more titles to explore.

Credo che disinstallerò questo gioco. Non è in lingua italiana ed è frustrante dover ricorrere ogni volta a dei trucchi per ottenere una traduzione delle varie note lasciate da Ektor Turren. Ma la cosa peggiore è che la navigazione nel gioco è troppo veloce e scattante e mi provoca capogiri e sensi di nausea già dopo pochi minuti, soprattutto quando si svolta a destra o sinistra o quando si guarda in alto o in basso. Magari e spero che ciò non capiti ad altri giocatori. Mi dispiace perché il gioco è sicuramente una meraviglia già solo per i paesaggi.

We really wanted to like this game. It looked like a work of passion from the creator. The graphics and sound are very Myst like. But that's all there is to like about it. There needs to be a game tutorial. There needs to be much better breadcrumb hints for getting you through the game. It's impossible to figure out where to go next. The puzzles are convoluted. Half way through we just gave up and quit. Even with the walk through it wasn't fun or worth our time. Even on sale I wouldn't suggest buying it.

~5h to 100%. A pleasant diversion in the [u]Myst[/u]-esque genre. Environments are all beautifully rendered (and the sunlight reflecting off metal surfaces is annoying and blinding just like real life!). Puzzles are a little tricky to figure out sometimes, but that's a hard balance to strike. Hints are available in the Guides section.

I find the world design and story components very interesting and would have loved to spend more time in this universe. That earns a "Recommend."

Je dois dire que je ne recommande pas ce jeu à mon grand regret : il est en effet très abouti visuellement, avec une bande-son très soignée. Malheureusement, au niveau des énigmes, le compte n'y est pas : dans certains cas, aucune indication permettant d'avoir une idée de ce qu'il faut faire, des règles qui changent (les curseurs de puissance !). Bref, à moins d'être prêt-e à consulter des soluces pour se débloquer, passez votre chemin.

It is a short but very beautiful game about the length of a long age in the Myst series (which the creator has pointed out was the inspiration for this game). The puzzles are logical and fair (they have an adequate difficulty).
The story is told through letters (and the letters reminded me of the original Myst game). I got stuck only once, and that was because I didn't understand how to go up the ladder (expecting an action, but there was none).
I would recommend this game to other players who like adventure games in the same vein as Myst.

First of all kudos to the developer for the graphical and technical execution of this game. The game had no flaws that I could see and the graphics were very well executed with very immersive effect. The problem is that while the game is beautiful to look at and is a joy to play from an execution perspective ,there really isn't any game to it. There is no doubt that the developer spent thousands of hours rendering the product, but there is hardly any game play, especially with regard to puzzle/problem solving and what little there is can be both obscure and frustrating. A very pretty package, but it's just fluff!

An absolutely beautiful game. I played the original Myst, Riven, Exile etc back in the day when you literally had to change CDs when moving between worlds and this brought me back to that almost magical experience of exploring and puzzling. I did a LOT of RIVET CLICKING here to solve the clues ([spoiler] and a few of them actually did something! haha [/spoiler]). Full disclosure I did need a couple hints for a few areas where my brain just wasn't braining. Overall a terrific game.

I'd get it on sale, for reasons that'll be explained in the cons, but I do recommend it.
Pros:
- Fantastic art direction. This was a passion project and love letter to Cyan, and it nailed that feeling. The atmosphere, lighting, architecture, all captures Cyan very well.
- Incredible score. The music for this game is amazing. It's only used in certain areas to add to the effect of it, and I think it's used VERY well. It's brimming with emotion and impact.
- Mostly well-designed puzzles. These puzzles do require some thinking. But it's very rewarding as you explore and find items for previously visited areas to progress.

Cons:
- Too much back-tracking. You will be back-tracking a LOT. It especially gets annoying when it comes to having to run to all the teleporters, or wait forever for the airship to take off or land.
- Too light on narrative. There are moments of interesting lore about the moon and planet when you find pages. But there's not a lot of pages to find. There's a mystery about the ocean with the lights and sounds that doesn't seem to get addressed?
- Some puzzles are WAY too unclear. I needed a guide three times. (Spoilers for some puzzles in this part)
For example, I can't take the airship from the base to the house, but I CAN take it from the lab. WHY? Or how I need to find a hidden key hole by walking around after changing the valve, and listen for air leaks. That's way too subtle!

In conclusion, it's a short game (when you're not stuck on the the unclear puzzles causing too much back-tracking), but very nicely paced, and compact with lots of love and passion. Great for Cyan fans, both old and new alike.

This was a fun game! It's really inspiring that it was made as a passion project by a developer inspired by Myst. I like the moral of the story. More than other games I've played, it gave me the same kinds of feelings that Myst did back when I was a kid. A couple of the puzzles had me stalled for hours, but the reward was worth it. If you're into Myst-style puzzle games, this one is worth a play. I enjoyed it more than I've been enjoying Obduction.

Given that this game was made by a single person over a span of 20 years, it is very impressive. The game was released in 2016 and I played this in 2025. It is showing its age in terms of graphics, but it's fine. There are no profiles or multiple save features. I presume if you quit the game it will return you to your last checkpoint, but I played this in one sitting so cannot be sure. Frustratingly, there are no options for autorun or toggling music. Audio queues are helpful in the game and I would have preferred to turn off the music which certainly became repetitive, even though it changes with locations.

The puzzles weren't super hard, but not so easy as to be trivial. The most challenging part of the game was finding a few things, which I did not enjoy. Finding the key, then finding where to put the key took me longer than I cared for, mainly because I didn't know I was looking for a key as I had not found the key hole either. It was a bit of a frustrating dead end where I was simply searching everywhere for what to do next. There is no hint system. All up the game took me 3.5 hours, which I imagine is par for the course. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the puzzles, despite that one hiccup.

Keeping all of this in mind, the game is only $17.75 (Australian Dollars) so it is really a bargain if you want something in the style of Myst. I'm sure it's not everyone's cup of tea and some Myst fans are likely to not enjoy this, but I think the majority of people that are into the Myst style of puzzles would.

A l'instar & bien après la série des Rhem, voilà un Myst-like au déplacement libre réalisé par une seule personne !

Très joli dans l'ensemble & réalisé sous Unity, il manque quand même pas mal de fluidité, il doit probablement tourner à 30FPS mais bon pour un jeu calme & posé comme celui-ci ça ne dérange qu'un peu...
On peut soit se déplacer au clavier/souris (ZQSD ou flèches) soit uniquement à la souris en restant cliqué pour avancer....

On y explorera plusieurs petits îlots dans la mer pour y résoudre divers puzzles typique du style ce qui peut être un peu austère quand on n'est pas ou plus trop habitué, vu qu'il n'a pas vraiment d'aide à part les quelques notes disséminés qui distille la trame narrative.
Il faudra donc utiliser son intuition & sa logique pour avancer, (ou un guide pour ceux qui n'en ont pas ou qui n'ont pas trouvé celle du développeur...)

On peut effectivement passer à côté de certaines portes/leviers... mal placés ou pas bien mis en avant/lumière, les seules interactions étant quand le point passe au vert, qui aurait pu être un peu plus visible.
Les résultats d'une solution auraient pu être plus voyant de même & moins par tâtonnements...
(les positions des paratonnerres à la fin, c'est vraiment au pif, les signaux des téléporteurs un peu limite aussi au départ...) & avec tous les allers/retours en dirigeable pour passer d'une île à l'autre, on passera pas mal de temps dans les chargements... (sans compter quelques chutes hors de la map...)

Un sympathique Myst-like malgré tout, qui s'il ne révolutionne pas la formule, y rend bien hommage malgré quelques errances dans les énigmes, le tout avec une excellente bande son atmosphérique.

Not bad for a short, simple game. Definitely for fans of the MYST series. Takes about 3 hours to complete, though partly because you walk around quite slowly. Thankfully the maps aren't very big. Unfortunately, some of the puzzles require you to trek back and forth quite a bit. Fantastic set design and visuals, and an enjoyable plot/story. This game definitely requires a keen eye an/or patience, or perhaps the use of a walkthrough at times! haha. Overall 7/10.

Pour l'instant le jeu me donne entière satisfaction. J'ai encore très peu joué,cependant le peu que j'ai vu en ce qui concerne les décors est vraiment super. Je crois être retourné dans Myst, Riven et compagnie. Ca fait peut-être dépassé mais c'est le genre de jeu basique au niveau du déplacement et des énigmes qui me plaît.

There doesn't seem to be much logic or direction in a lot of the puzzles leaving you in wondering what it actually wants from you. It seems to be a "Try every combination of everything ever and click everything just incase you've missed something."

Not keen at all, the playtime is me leaving the game on overnight I would not have put that many hours in to being bored and frustrated.

It's short and linear, yes, but it also offers a fair bit of challenge in its puzzles. Some of the solutions were a little obscure and I found myself having to use a hint-through for some of it, but it's enough of a brief trip that I can see myself forgetting the solutions and enjoying rediscovering things now that I know how to get there.

I have a lot of praise for how it looks, too. It really captures the feeling of Myst that it strives for, polishing those visuals and granting a new, interesting world to explore.

Pros: Good if not especially creative visuals, great music.
Cons: Shallow and ham-fisted story, lots of red herrings, disconnected and brainless "puzzles" were more tedious trial and error/pixel hunt than anything else. Combined with some rather boastful claims at the beginning, there's a general pomposity about the whole thing that's kind of off-putting.

If you want a Myst-like, just play RealMyst or Quern.

Haven Moon is great fun. I really enjoyed the game. The puzzles are hard and I needed help on more than a few, but the hard work does pay off. If you have played Myst/Riven games and are thinking of playing this one, go for it! I must be honest and say that I was a little disappointed at the ending, but maybe I was expecting too much. The graphics by the way are incredible, each island is beautiful and the water graphics are fantastic. I would definitely recommend! Thanks for the great game. :)

Graphics are beautiful and the landscaping and architectural design is well crafted. Music is also great, though can get a bit much at times - some silence inserted instead of constant loops while you're in a building would be nice.

The beginning is quite charming as a whole. Getting the generator up and running felt like a cyan game: intuitive real-world physics, good visual and audio feedback. Unfortunately, that was the best moment of the game for me.

The big problem with the game seems like a lack of play testing. Motion is a bit clunky, and the coordinate inputs are infuriating in how much time they make you waste to do basic adjustments. You're telling me this inventor can teleport matter but can't figure out a usable input besides clunky mechanical wheels that can't roll over from 360 to 0? There's also a stark lack of feedback for most buttons and levers, and a weird lack of physical realness, for instance when a lever that controls water or steam flow somehow activates a keyhole on an entirely different structure with no pipes in between. I'm someone who very rarely looks up hints to games like this, but I wound up doing the last half of the game relying on the walkthrough because the puzzles weren't engaging to me (mostly due to lack of feedback and realism) and because solving them would've felt more like work than anything.

The premise is solid, very cool architecture, great music, and there's even a decent moral at the end, but the execution of story and gameplay is lacking. I think if the developer had worked with a team a lot of the kinks could've been ironed out. Genuinely hope he continues developing.

Game breaking bug on the very first puzzle. Not only are there no apparent hints indicating that you should check coordinates "000,000" to solve the first puzzle, it's not even possible to do. When I try to interact with the telescope controls the numbers only go up, and I can't even get them to go up to 999,999 and then reset to 000,000 because they get stuck at 359,090 and then I can't change the coordinates at all.

Overall a really good game and enjoyable experience. You can really feel and see the Myst influences here, in a good way.

I guess one complaint is the moral of the whole thing. I understand what it's getting at, but the delivery feels wrong. This spoils a bit, so read at your own risk.

[spoiler]I get the whole point of choosing to preserve history over choosing wealth and riches, etc., but the context here is all wrong. Ektor could've just done that himself. Instead, he chose to sail off into the distance and explore a mysterious sound in the ocean, and he plucked some random stranger onto the island and expected them to preserve the history of some unknown civilization instead of choosing something that could potentially better their own life and the lives of their loved ones? POS move by Ektor for sure. I know, I know, I'm taking it way too seriously, but something about it just rubs me the wrong way. [/spoiler]

Regardless, I would play similar games by this dev for sure.

This in not a bad, laid back puzzle game. Think Myst. It pretty old at this point. I didn't have any crashes.

The settings are very basic, you choose resolution and graphics every time when you start the game. A volume slider would be nice. The pointer is much better than the Myst, and Riven games. The controls are very limited, WASD movement, look with the mouse, Left and right click. For this title you don't need anything else.

It is a really old game, and you move in first person view. There is a lot of motion blur. The graphics are fine for what it is. I think even for its day it could be better, but I think the game was made by one person, and a sibling did the music I think from the credits.

The puzzles are mostly able to be completed. I really only got stuck on the last puzzle. Hind site is 20/20 so yeah you could maybe figure it out. I guess from the start I thought it would be something different. I won't put in spoilers. I was looking for something else for a long time even though I was done. I just didn't put it together because of what the first note says.

I wanted to like this game, but it ended up being a big miss for me. The first half hour or so, when I was still exploring the minimal game world, was enjoyable, but once it came to crunch time and I had to really solve puzzles... I could figure out almost none in this game. Maybe I was just in the wrong headspace when playing, I don't know, but I ended up rather quickly running out of options and resorting to a walkthrough for puzzle after puzzle. And rather than thinking "Why didn't I think of that?" at the answers, I was instead always thinking "How was I supposed to think of that?" One clue was outright misleading. Others just lacked good feedback or indicators; I was stumbling around without knowing what exactly I was trying to accomplish, or how to tell if I'd succeeded. The small, largely bare game world also made this worse, as I kept quickly reaching a point where I'd explored everything I could and still had no idea what to do next.

The story is light but coherent. That's not really the problem. That, the graphics, and the sound are all decent and don't detract from the experience, but they're also nothing special and this game clearly needs to rest on the strength of its gameplay. Unfortunately, the gameplay was obtuse and not at all enjoyable for me, so this is a rare adventure game that I honestly don't think is particularly worth experiencing.

A loving homage to the [i]Myst[/i] games. It is, however, very short, and anyone familiar with the [i]Myst[/i] franchise will probably be able to complete it in a couple of hours. There are hints of a larger, complex plot that we never get to see (a potential sequel hook perhaps?), some of the world is very underutilised (really the lab island didn't need to exist/could have been merged with one of the others), and some of the puzzles only make sense in retrospect... but it's a nice little game, and impressive given that it's the work of only one person (plus another person for sound).

TLDR: If you like the [i]Myst[/i] games then you'll probably like this, but it's very short.

A cute, quick-to-play game. Visually stunning, and for the most part the puzzles are fun. I did get stuck once on a pixel hunt which was annoying, but I figured it out relatively quickly. The ending felt a bit trite and preachy to me, but that fit into the cozy vibe the whole game was going for so no harm done. Not really in the same league as Myst/Riven, but a decent addition to the genre.

Wir beginnen unser Abenteuer ohne Einleitung auf einer menschenleeren kleinen Insel. Sie ist mit ein paar Gebäuden fast ganz überbaut, die auf eine hohe Kultur schließen lassen. Eine Notiz informiert uns, dass wir auf einem Mond eines (uns) unbekannten Planeten befinden und wir erwartet wurden, um einen Schatz in Empfang zu nehmen, der der letzte Überlebende eines ausgestorbenen Volkes uns hinterlassen hat.

Ganz so einfach macht er es uns aber nicht, wir müssen etliche Rätsel erst lösen, um den Hauptgewinn einzuheimsen.

Erinnerte mich bzgl. Geschichte, Optik und Rätselform deutlich an Myst 3. Daraus macht der Entwickler (eine Einzelperson) auch keinen Hehl. Und doch wird es nicht 1:1 kopiert, sondern es entsteht etwas eigenes.

Auch das Ende, von dem es zwei Varianten gibt, ist gut gemacht.

[b]Gameplay[/b]

Das Spiel erfordert und lädt dazu ein, alles genau zu untersuchen, die Hinweise (in Form von Notizzettel, aber auch in der Umgebung) zu erkennen, Dinge auszuprobieren und die Effekte zu studieren, bis man zur Lösung eines Rätsels kommt.

Der Schwierigkeitsgrad ist dabei eine heikle Sache. Da ich anfangs nicht dachte, dass viel "mal schauen was passiert" und "wie kann man das ganz praktisch angehen?" dabei ist, fühlte ich mich anfangs wie der Ochs vor'm Berg. Dann ging es aber und es machte viel Spaß, die Rätsel nach und nach zu lösen.

Bei einigen Aufgaben hilft, sich zu fragen, warum das, was man sieht, so eigenartig ist (warum gibt es bspw. ein Luftschiff und einen Teleporter?).

Es gab aber schon auch ein paar Aufgaben, die unfair waren, besonders wenn die Auswirkungen einer Aktion nicht in der Nähe zu beobachten waren. Das fand ich dann nicht mehr zeitgemäß, weil die meisten Spieler doch einigermaßen zügig voran kommen wollen, wo es doch viel mehr Spiele gibt als vielleicht 1993, wo man noch bereit war, sich tagelang mit einem Rätsel zu beschäftigen.

Es gibt nur einen Speicherstand, der permanent aktualisiert wird (jedenfalls taucht man punktgenau an der Stelle wieder auf, wo man das Spiel verlassen hat). Ich hatte zeitweise die Befürchtung, dass man sich in eine Sackgasse manövrieren kann, ist aber wohl nicht der Fall, egal wie man von Insel zu Insel reist.

Das zweite Ende kann man ganz leicht nach dem ersten nacherleben.

[b]Technik[/b]

Mit Unity (und Blender, etc.; sucht nach dem Blender-Monkey!) erstellt wirkt das Spiel auf mich gut gemacht. Ungewöhnlich ist, wie angedeutet, das zu Beginn fehlende Menü, zu dem man erst nachträglich per Esc kommen kann. Das hätte nicht sein müssen. Auch fehlen manche Komfortfunktionen wie Lautstärkeeinstellung.

Die Grafik finde ich bezaubernd, eben weil es so steampunkmäßig an Myst und ähnliche Spiele erinnert. Man kann da viel Liebe zum Detail entdecken.

Der Sound ist gut. Allenfalls die fehlende Lautstärkeeinstellung, wie erwähnt, ist schlecht. Die Notizzettel sind auf Deutsch verfügbar. Allerdings ist die Übersetzung (wohl durch einen Franzosen) nicht grammatikalisch korrekt, so dass es sich manchmal komisch liest. Da die Schrift auch nicht ganz einfach zu lesen ist, im Inhalt aber manch wichtige Details stecken (die sich hinter "unwichtigen" erzählerischen Ausschweifungen verbergen können) ist dies etwas nachteilig. Wenn man die Texte sehr genau liest, kann man aber, denke ich, alles verstehen.

Die Steuerung per Tastatur/Maus war gut.

Ich habe etwa 4h für einen Durchgang benötigt, wobei ich auch Mal in einer Hilfe nachgeschaut habe.

Es gibt überschaubar viele Errungenschaften. Gerade die für beide Enden könnte verpassbar sein.

Haven Moon ist ein 1-Mann-Projekt eines Myst Liebhabers. Laut eigenen Angaben hat er zwanzig Jahre daran gearbeitet bzw. so lange seine Skills gelernt. Er hat Sachen gut gemacht, und er hat Sachen verhauen. Das ist normal und ich tat mir mit der Bewertung schwer, aber so wie ich werdet ihr erst am Ende wissen, warum die Entscheidung so fällt.

Ich gebe zu, Spiele wie Myst immer gerne anpacken zu wollen, während ich dann oft herrlich versage. Den Klassiker selbst habe ich noch nicht gespielt, und nun weiß ich auch nicht, ob ich das irgendwann überhaupt noch tun sollte. Auf meiner "erledigt"-Liste der Myst-like Kracher stehen immerhin Obduction (meh) und Quern (sehr gut).

[h1]Worum geht's?[/h1]

Man landet auf einer Art "Ozeanmond". Viel Wasser und ein paar weit verstreute, kleine Inseln, auf denen ein Überlebender, vielleicht Wissenschaftler, Apparaturen erbaut hat. Es wurden Nachrichten hinterlassen, die die kleine Geschichte erzählen und auch Infos darüber geben, wie grundsätzlich vorzugehen ist. Es gibt Leuchttürme, Teleporter, ein Labor, eine Energiekanone, eine "Hausinsel" (die eher wie ein Bohrturm aussieht)...
Erinnerte mich an Quern, aber vermutlich nur, weil Quern wie Myst aufgebaut war. Also respektieren wir die Story & Atmosphäre mal als tatsächlich Myst-würdig. Da will ich gar nichts sagen und das wird auch im späteren Verlauf des Spiels immer stärker. Leider ist der Einstieg sperrig...

[h1]Gameplay[/h1]

Es ist zwar alles nicht riesig, aber diese Art von Spielen sind für Leute gemacht, die sonst nichts mit ihrer Lebenszeit anzufangen wissen und gerne alles zehnmal ablatschen. An allen möglichen Stellen könnten Hinweise vorkommen, die wiederum an allen möglichen anderen Stellen anwendbar sind. Der Interpretation sind da gerne mal wenig Grenzen gesetzt, und wenn man mehrere halbgare Ideen hat, muss man die über sämtliche Strecken hinaus wohl ausprobieren... *seufz*
Myst-typisch geht es darum, Bereiche zu finden & zu erschließen, Details zu beobachten, Koordinaten zu finden und einzustellen, Schlüssel einzusetzen, Hebel korrekt zu drehen, und am Ende meist das Knöpfchen zu all dem zu drücken, damit hoffentlich das Richtige passiert.
Im späteren Verlauf ist das alles etwas verständlicher, aber gerade der Anfang wurde für mich immer verwirrender und ging nur träge voran. Mehr dazu in der Kritik.

[h1]Grafik & Atmosphäre[/h1]

Hier ist dem Entwickler was gelungen. Die Umgebungen sehen nun nicht bombastisch aus, aber doch sehr solide. Absolut i.O., vor allem wenn man bedenkt, dass das Spiel zum Zeitpunkt dieser Rezension auch schon wieder acht Jahre alt ist. Wenn dann das ein oder andere Musikstück und auch ein dramatisches Unwetter mit prasselndem Regen und Blitz & Donner wütet, dann muss man das erstmal hinbekommen.

[h1]Performance[/h1]

Um hier schonmal ein Foreshadowing auf den Abschnitt "Kritik" loszulassen: grausig!
Laufen und umsehen geht zwar flüssig, aber die Umgebung besteht in Bewegung aus massivem Mikrostottern!
Soll heißen ich bewege mich rechts/links und alles zittert nur so vor sich hin. Ganz schrecklich!
(besonders wenn man bedenkt, dass man ja im schlimmsten Fall Details in der Umgebung wahrnehmen muss)

[h1]Kritik[/h1]

Als ich mit Haven Moon durch war, dachte ich, dass es doch eine ganz nette kleine Reise war, die im späteren Verlauf mehr Spaß gemacht hatte. Ich durfte aber eins nicht vergessen: Nachdem es zu Beginn für mich sehr holprig lief und ich offensichtlich weder die zerebralen Kapazitäten noch die Geduld hatte, musste ich immer mal in ein Walkthrough reinschmumeln. Ich habe natürlich eins benutzt, welches möglichst wenig spoilert. Ich habe mir ein klassisches Walkthrough zum Nachlesen rausgesucht: https://www.adventurespiele.net/9891/HavenMoon.pdf
Im Folgenden gehe ich so unkonkret wie möglich auf mMn misslungene und eher verwirrende oder zeitaufwändige Rätsel ein. Trotzdem mal eine leichte, unvermeidliche Spoilerwarnung.

[*]Das Teleskop. Hiermit sucht man den kompletten(!) Himmel ab. Da man aber nicht weiß, (ab) wann und in welcher Form das genau sinnvoll ist, versucht man es evtl. schon sehr frühzeitig und verschwendet massiv Zeit und Nerven.
[*]Grundsätzlich gibt es Stellen, da erschlagen einen die -vermeintlichen- Möglichkeiten, alles abzusuchen, während es woanders auf Details ankommt, die man nicht einmal ahnt (Stichwort "T"-Schilder) und an denen man eher vorbeiläuft. Kein Hinweis, nirgendwo, nichts.
[*]Die Energietürme. Nicht nur, dass man die Stege wie wild hin- und herdreht, um jedesmal drei Schritte machen zu können, nein es gibt auch keinen Anhaltspunkt, wie sie korrekt eingestellt werden. Ich probierte etwas nach Gusto aus und es funktionierte sogar. Als ich es verstehen wollte, sagte kein Walkthrough etwas zu der Logik, und das oben verlinkte hatte sogar eine andere Lösung als ich! Hinzu kam, dass das Rätsel zwar fertig war, aber gut die Hälfte der Hebel sich weiterhin drehen ließ, andere nicht. Gab es also noch mehr zu tun? Sollte man weiter rumprobieren oder nicht???
[*]Nochmal das Teleskop. Alles was man so sucht, befindet sich am Horizont: Leuchttürme und die Teleporter. Welchen Sinn ergibt die 90°-Einstellung gen Himmel, mit welcher Logik soll ich die verstehen?
[*]Grundsätzlich: Laufwege. Das Spiel ist zwar nicht riesig, aber da man später doch sehr viel mit der Gondel hin- und herfährt und sich in der Gegend rumteleportiert, dauert es einen Moment, selbst kurze Strecken über Umwege zu erreichen. Man stellt also irgendwo einen Hebel um und soll dann ewig hin- und hereiern, um eine Stelle zu finden, an welcher der was verändert hat? Ohne mich. (in diesem Fall sind es Hebel eines pneumatischen Systems).
Oder man setzt einen Schlüssel ein und sucht... und sucht... und sucht... (am Ende mit den Ohren)... was der nun wo verändert hat.
[*]Ich würde mir mehr Minispiele wünschen, die übersichtlicher sind und an einem Ort gelöst werden können, ohne lange Wege in Betracht ziehen zu müssen. Du läufst und kannst eigentlich davon ausgehen, dass etliche Male entweder die Einstellung oder der ganze Zielort falsch ist/sind. Und wieder alles zurück. Wie blöd. Wer hat denn Bock auf sowas?
Ich bin sogar ein gemütlicher Spieler, aber das ist einfach so sinnlos.

Um mal ein kleines Pro nicht unerwähnt zu lassen: es wurde immerhin daran gedacht, eine Sprintfunktion einzubauen.

[h1]Fazit[/h1]

Tja, ich habe besseres mit meiner Zeit anzufangen als in so einem Spiel festzuhängen. Habe noch nie verstanden, was das für Leute sind, die eine Engelsgeduld haben, sich darin aufzuhalten.
Wer das als Durchschnittsrätsler wie ich gerne ausprobieren möchte, sei trotzdem ermutigt, es im Sale zu kaufen und ein Walkthrough (sowie die entsprechende Erwartungshaltung) in der Hinterhand zu haben.
Ich behaupte trotzdem, dass das aufgrund des ein oder anderen blöden Rätseldesigns keine rein subjekte Kritik ist.

The game is beautifully rendered. And it's clear that the designer loved the source material that they are paying tribute to here. There's a lot here that could be recommended.

The sound design is great. The mechanical clicks and whirs all bring life to the experience. The background music and ambient soundscape is also perfect for this game.

The environments are beautiful and bring me right back to my days of playing Myst and Riven.

However, the travel system in this game is awful. At one point I wanted to go to a location that I can see right in front of me. I had to jump in an elevator, wait for that to descend, walk from the back of the building to the front, then walk down some stairs to an airship, wait for that to disembark, then wait for that airship to dock at a new island, where I then walked out of the building, down some more stairs and under a bridge, to a teleporter, where I had to wait to be teleported away from that island, and then wait to be teleported to a new island, where I had to walk over to a control panel, fiddle with some knobs, and then go back to the teleporter again, waiting for the teleportation animation to take me out and then in again, so that I could end up in the location I originally saw at the start. Too many puzzles make you run from island to island.

The travel system is obtuse to start because it's part of a few different puzzles. That's okay, that's how games like this should be. But solving certain puzzles should have eventually made traveling around a smooth experience. Or there should have been a reduction in the need to travel from place to place.

It's a lovely game. But I can't recommend it, because it quickly becomes painful to solve puzzles in this puzzle solving game.

Loved it! Haven Moon looks great and Myst fans will immediately feel a sense of familiarity. The atmosphere, music, narrative and puzzles all worked well together. I'm impressed that this was done by one person AND bonus, Rand Miller was a game tester. Well done! (btw, I heard a little Star Wars influence in one specific piece of music and wondered if that was on purpose?)

Pro Tip: Controllers do work! I used a PS4 controller with Steam's settings and it was MUCH better than using a keyboard and mouse.

I loved the puzzles but I did have to use some light hints. The guides on the Steam page were nice in that they only spoiled as much as you needed. I would have liked a bit more narrative to help me piece together what was really going on in the story. The notes written to the explorer were what drove the narrative, but maybe some journals or engineering notes hidden in drawers or diagrams posted throughout the islands would have given the player a bit more direction? Unfortunately I wasn't 100% sure what to do at the end... and I only knew I was at the end because of the Steam guides. However, I found that every time I needed hints, the solutions were reasonable and I should have seen it without hints - which is always the sign of a good puzzle!

While the effects and graphics are outstanding, the game, Havenb Moon, is far to complex for ordinary gamer's to play without a good walkthrough. The ending(s) left me unsatisfied, as well. Very good Myst style game and a great accomplishment for a game made by only one man. Both the graphics and the puzzles are high standards.

One downside of the game is the amount of puzzles. The game needs more puzzles. Playing this game left me hungry for more.

Juego muy al estilo Myst (la primera entrega), tiene un vibra muy similar y está claramente inspirado en ese juego, los entornos son muy similares, al igual que la música ambiental, la cual es envolvente y misteriosa (una de las cosas que más me gustan del juego).

Los puzzles están bien, al igual que Myst, hay momentos en que no sabes bien que hacer y este juego peca de lo mismo, muchos puzzles encuentro que no están bien diseñados porque no logras entender bien lo que estás haciendo. Las mecánicas están bien, pero mejorables, sobre todo la teletransportación y los viajes de una isla a otra se hacen tediosos al final del juego. Además, la traducción del juego al español no está bien lograda del todo.

En conclusión, ¿Te gusta Myst y su estética? -> Si tu respuesta es sí, Te recomendaría este juego, está bien.

Game looks good, exactly the type of game I enjoy. Puzzles look ok. Game works perfectly from what I've experienced. Why won't I recommend it ? Just 1 reason. No ability to turn off the music. Why do so many dev's assume we all love being followed around by an orchestra...ffsx!!!

Short and sweet, minimalistic in the good sense: all the right things are in all the right places. The atmosphere is a lot like Myst which is very enjoyable but this game has a distinct charm of its own. Loved it!

Игра, каждый пиксель которой действительно пропитан духом Myst - и я, как большой поклонник (да и чего уж там - откровенный фанат) серии Myst, не могу не отдать должное этому творческому порыву, растянувшемуся у автора, по его собственному заявлению, на долгие 20 лет.
Его, автора, очень хочется за что-нибудь похвалить. Точно можно похвалить за визуал - 10 жюльвернов из 10. Наверное, можно похвалить за музыкальную составляющую - она уместна, ненавязчива и в целом со своей задачей справляется.
А вот за что похвалить не получается - так это за геймплей. Ввод чисел вентилями - хрестоматийный образец кошмарного UI. Анимации перемещения между островами дооооолгие и успевают надоесть уже ко второму совершаемому кругу почёта по доступным локациям. Вишенка на торте - необходимость [spoiler] прислушиваться к еле слышному свисту пара в некоторых местах, ибо он является единственным (sic!) намёком на то, что необходимо потыкать во все окружающие места курсором, дабы натыкать активную точку, с которой вдруг стало возможно повзаимодействовать [/spoiler]. Последняя загадка лишена какой-либо логики.
Касательно сюжета - он вроде бы как и есть, но набросан очень широкими мазками, без каких-либо конкретных указаний для игрока - что, зачем, куда и с какой целью. Финала у истории фактически нет.
При всём этом игру я рекомендую. Почему? Because I can!
P.S. не, ну поклонникам Myst всё же проходить мимо не стоит.

Pretty good! Very Myst-like, which also includes the pixel hunting, reliance on subtle audio cues, and a keen eye for details. My sister and I played together and between us we were able to work it out [spoiler]despite my insistence on trying to 'manually calculate the coordinates' rather than pixel hunt. It doesn't work BTW.[/spoiler]

Whilst not as deep or complex as its inpiration or (modern) competition, Haven Moon nails the solitude and mirth of a "puzzle island" and the feeling of accomplishment and understanding after figuring out a piece of machinery. At a couple of points I would have wished for more direct puzzle feedback, but I was never frustrated. If you don't plan ahead particularly well Haven Moon can also have some more lengthy inter-island hopping, but at a length of about 3 - 4 hours that is not particularly grating either.

My biggest gripe is a technical one: movement simply isn't smooth. This seems to be regardless of framerate and is very easy to notice if you are directly in front of objects whilst moving. Visually it looks like the game is stuttering and that may induce motion sickness.

All in all a lovely little game if you are looking for a short and more straightforward Myst-like experience.
