I remember this game being much better than it turned out to be, the first 20 minutes were scary at most, when the bloody corridors started the game became just boring

The horror of space itself is a specific niche; what I can only call spatial horror is something I am very obsessive about. I will say that From the Darkness stands as one of the most compelling P.T.-like experiences to emerge in recent years, because it understands what made P.T. great.
I find that the game presents an apartment that feels very real, this is a place that has been lived in, and there is an intimacy to the environment. And that is what makes its later betrayals so effective. The game’s greatest achievement lies in its understanding of spatial logic and how it behaves. The distortions are gratuitous in a way that is actually pretty well done. And so, the apartment confesses. This manipulation of space is elevated by the game’s sound design, which is also great.
But From the Darkness isn’t just a spatial experiment in horror aesthetics. The narrative steeped in guilt is executed very well for such a short game. I hear the echo of the sensibilities of Edgar Allan Poe and of stories that trap their protagonists within the architecture of their own conscience. The apartment feels accusatory and I always find that to be terrifying.
What is particularly interesting is how this psychological horror gradually expands into something far more vast. The game does not remain confined to the intimate terror of guilt; it stretches, almost imperceptibly at first, into the domain of cosmic horror. This transition reaches its culmination in the game’s final sequences, when the apartment building dissolves entirely into a red, liminal landscape that feels at once like purgatory, hell, and something beyond both. An Outlast-style triumph would feel almost dishonest in the context of what the game has built. This is not a story that could end in escape. Grandpa, what the ♥♥♥♥ did you do…

One of the most atmospheric and tense walking simulators that ive played. The "riddles" are quite entertaining and the overall design of both levels and models is outstanding, i love the audio quality as well. Its super short tho, under one hour and ive encountered a really nasty camera movement feeling in the beginning that gave me some serious motion sickness but it kinda disappeared throughout the game.
Overall definitely recommended, cool game!

From the Darkness ist ein kurzes Horrorerlebnis vom Entwickler N4bA. Und dieses Spiel lässt sich mehr als Erlebnis beschreiben, anstatt eines Spiels. Das Erste was mir aufgefallen ist, ist der Standardhorror mit dem dieses Spiel arbeitet. Aber es ist Standard auf einem sehr hohen Niveau.
Viel Gameplay hat das Spiel auch aufgrund seiner kurzen Dauer nicht zu bieten. Laufen, rennen und interagieren bilden die Kernmechanik. Der Hauptfokus liegt eher auf dem erzeugen einer sehr starken Atmosphäre. Das Spiel schafft es gut puren Terror als Atmosphäre aufzubauen und das sogar mit relativ wenigen Mitteln.
Auch visuell ist From the Darkness sehr ansprechend. Die Kombination aus realistischer Umgebung und surrealen Einfällen wirkt nicht übertrieben und sehr gelungen. Auch dadurch wird beim Spieler ein großes Unbehagen ausgelöst.
From the Darkness ist eine Horrorerfahrung, die nur diejenigen ansprechen wird, die sich auf eine solche Art von Games einlassen können. Wer also Gameplay für eine gute Atmosphäre opfern kann ist hier sehr gut bedient.

From the Darkness is a short horror experience from developer N4bA. And this game can be described more as an experience than a game. The first thing I noticed is the standard horror that this game works with. But it is standard at a very high level.
The game doesn't have much gameplay to offer due to its short duration. Walking, running and interacting form the core mechanics. The main focus is more on creating a very strong atmosphere. The game manages to build up pure terror as an atmosphere, even with relatively few resources.
Visually, From the Darkness is also very appealing. The combination of realistic surroundings and surreal ideas does not seem exaggerated and is very successful. This also triggers a great deal of unease in the player.
From the Darkness is a horror experience that will only appeal to those who can get into this kind of game. So if you can sacrifice gameplay for a good atmosphere, this game is for you.

At this price point, the game is not worth it. It’s better to buy it only during a sale. There are around three jump scares, and two of them actually got me 😅. Overall, the game feels a bit boring. It’s a one-time play, but I wouldn’t really recommend it. You can skip this one.

Gráfico, ambientação, é, tem aquela sensação constante de sim, de tensão, teve jumpscareszinhos legais e tal, mas eu não gosto de três coisas em jogos, ainda mais quando ele é muito exagerado, que é o looping, o a necessidade de gatilho e a necessidade de dar zoom. Essas três coisas em jogo quando elas são muito excessivas, muito usadas, chega a ser massivo, maçante e chato, ainda mais os três juntos. É o jogo, ele deixou uma ambiguidade em relação ao que aconteceu, confuso, mas tirando tudo isso, eu não me arrependo de ter comprado, não me arrependo de ter jogado. Ele só realmente quebrou a expectativa que eu tinha em relação a ele, porque ele foi muito recomendado, tá? Tá de parabéns, desenvolvedor, tudo, não tô falando mal do jogo em si, mas sinceramente eu esperava muito mais.mas eu não vou dar deslike, não, porque o jogo não não é ruim pra pra dar deslike, não. Наш главный герой идет за альбомами в заброшенную квартиру покойного деда. Ожидаемо альбомов мы не найдем а в доме начнет происходить какая-то херь. Игра дико атмосферная и реально страшная. Советую проходить не смотря никаких прохождений, тогда кирпичный завод гарантирован!

Ой ♥♥♥... Игра была пройдена за час. Играли с другом, держась за ручки: я играл, он морально поддерживал. Ссались кипятком и даже пару раз вскрикнули. Но тягомотная, шопиздец и не всегда очевидно что делать. 8 прокуренных фланелевых рубашек деда из 10.
атмосфера 8/10. скримеры 5-6/10 цена- норм для инди хоррора сюжет- практически нету 2/10 общая оценка-6.5-7/10

红与黑的氛围感顶级，解谜方面也很有趣，有两处被吓到了，结局只有一个不知道剧情讲的到底是啥，可能镜子里的主角早就已经死了，流程1小时左右，前期房间里，后期在楼道。找眼球手指牙齿挺有趣，也没有追逐战，更多的是面对大汉屠夫的心理恐惧，快结尾处楼道找房间还得听声音，走错门就会无限循环，点完所有蜡烛就能跑道1楼通关，指引方面不存在严重卡关，如遇卡关就找照片有下一步提示。虽然是好几年前的游戏，但在同等价位里算很出色了

스토리나 엔딩? 그런거는 큰 기대하진 않고 그냥 공포게임을 한다 라고 생각하고 플레이하면 좋을 거 같다.
이어폰을 끼고 게임을해야 큰 도움이 될 것 입니다. (좌 우 사운드를 잘 들어야함)

игра очень хороша графикой. единственный и самый большой изъян в игре могу назвать визуал монстра, но только когда он появляется в полный рост. основная задумка игры с использованием темноты как способ продвижения хорошо сделана. игра почти всё время держат тебя в напряжении, но под конец это напряжение сильно спадает из-за выше указанной причины - визуала монстра. и не тупите как я и сразу найдите кладовку рядом с кухней)

Świetna gra. Krótki, bardzo intensywny horror. Ciekawa fabuła, z pewną ilością niedopowiedzeń, dzięki którym historia jest jeszcze straszniejsza (sami możemy dopowiedzieć sobie wyjątkowo straszne rzeczy). Bardzo dobrze się bawiłam, ale polecam grać samemu i po ciemku.

Une expérience d’horreur courte mais efficace. Le jeu mise avant tout sur l’ambiance, et de ce côté-là, c’est réussi : environnement oppressant, rythme maîtrisé et montée progressive de la tension. Sans jamais tomber dans l’excès, il parvient à mettre mal à l’aise grâce à de petits détails visuels et sonores bien pensés.
Ce n’est pas révolutionnaire et le gameplay reste très simple, mais l’objectif est clair et assumé : faire vivre un moment angoissant, et ça fonctionne. Idéal pour une soirée, casque sur les oreilles, pour les amateurs d’horreur psychologique discrète mais efficace.

ABSOLUTELY OVERRATED
The only positive thing is that there are some genuinely scary moments.
However, the disadvantages far outweigh the positives.
It starts right from the moment you launch the “game” (99% walking simulator). There are no graphics options whatsoever, and the performance is abysmal given the quality (anyone who claims the graphics aren't bad has probably never played any beautiful/more sophisticated games).
It's also very short (I cooked my Christmas dinner in between, which is why the playing time is so high; it was actually somewhere between 60 and 90 minutes) and you can't really talk about a story. You wander around (which feels like you spend most of your time doing) in the hope of triggering something to move forward.
I've noticed that many games that have been rated very positively over the years have suddenly received a conspicuously high proportion of negative reviews, which makes me think of trolls. To be clear: I want fair but honest and accurate reviews.
And in the case of From the Darkness, I'm afraid I have to say that the game doesn't deserve this number of positive reviews for the reasons mentioned above.

El principio te mete en situación y el juego mantiene el suspense/terror. Pero a medida que avanzas el juego cada vez es más pocho. He tenido momentos de ir perdidisimo sin ver nada recargando partida guardada porque no sabía que hacer.
En verdad no esta mal.
