While retaining the core gameplay of the other games in the series up until that point, Five Nights at Freddy's 4 is very different. You are still trying to survive until 6 a.m. and still defending yourself against animatronics that are actively trying to kill you, but this time you aren't in an office, neither do you have cameras. You are at home, in your room,and all you have is your flashlight.
In this game, you relly on sound cues a lot more than visual cues. Listening close for sounds and their direction is the only way to survive. The atmosphere is silently intense, creepy and dark. The mechanics are easy to unferstand, but hard to master. This is probably the game with the most content in the original series-plenty of nights, challenges and even a free Halloween DLC. So many characters with unique mechanics and so many achievements to complete. Its also full of secrets, easter eggs and minigames that reveal a lot of lore.
I heavily recommend this game to all lovers of horror survival games-this one is a classic! I had a blast with it!

Personally my favorite FNaF game in terms of lore, atmosphere, and scariness. By far the most scary game in the franchise. As you can I see, I did not get very far because I am a wimp (and I don't think I'm supposed to feel every vein in my body at once).

Pegue a fórmula base de Five Nights at Freddy's e dê um 'twist' nessa, e você tem simplesmente o jogo mais ASSUSTADOR da franquia. Sério, esse jogo acaba comigo. Ele tem toda uma atmosfera assustadora e a mecânica dele cria uma tensão constante, é um ciclo de tensão que escala, alivia e depois reinicia te deixando aflito durante o tempo todo. O jogo é totalmente baseado em som, tanto que um dos desafios extras envolve completar ele sem enxergar, só com o som. Isso é algo que eleva o terror a níveis astronômicos.
A história também é ótima e instigante, o jogo todo mantêm um clima sombrio, uma atmosfera que assusta e que enerva. Pessoalmente é até difícil para mim, porque ele é um desafio que te faz lutar contra seus medos... ou talvez eu só seja muito medroso para esse jogo.

sound cues for mechanics is a good idea but the sounds are always either vague or inaudible and the game only barely even tells you the mechanics, so nearly everything you do is a guess or a search on the internet.
and the jumpscares get old fast to the point of being disappointing as hell, especially nightmare.
on top of this, for one reason or another, my 5000 dollar laptop still cant make the levels in the game load any faster than a solid 7 seconds even though its literally just loading glorified pngs.
this is not the worst game ive ever played, that'd be desert bus. but its not really fun, and occasionally the gameplay is just let up to rng. it gets old fast. having played the game up to beating the nightmare level and seeing the infamous box at the end of the game, i can confidently say this is the worst fnaf game ive played yet, although there may be something worse, since ive only played the first three games and some of help wanted.

The scariest game in the series period. I didn't even play it back when it came out because I was so scared. What I think is great is that this game can work and be understood even without the larger context of fnaf universe. While gameplay can get repetetive it's still keeps you on your toes unlike fnaf 2 that was built on ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rng. The idea of listening to the sound monsters are making is genius and really makes the whole game. The only downside is design of animatronics themselves. They look stupid not scary. There's nothing earie or off feeling about them, they're just big ugly monsters with 15 set of teeth each. Night 5 is probably the most interesting one cuz it's one big duel between you and Fredbear. And unlike his best pal Springtrap, Fredbear is actually threatening enemy who doesn't just ignore game rules when he feels like it or acts like he has one brain cell. Classic fnaf ended on a very high note with this one, because it's only downhill from here.

Все в доме спят, и один ты, не можешь уснуть, глядя в темноту... Моя любимая часть Фнафа, и самая стрёмная, как по мне. Они типо, тебе кажутся, не страшными. Но, постоянно слушая темноту, при этом, ловить скример, на полной громкости, не очень приятно. Но их качественная, красивая и криповая, детализация костюмов, она прям вообще кайф. Если всё таки, в кинематографе, доберутся, до 4 части. То представьте, какими страшными, и огромными будут аниматроники. Жесть. 😳

This is the one FNaF game I never actually played through until recent time. It had scared me a lot when I was younger and so I never played past night one or even beat it. Coming back to this game now that I'm older and a lot more experienced with FNaF I have to say this is the only game in the series that has made me sweat to an extreme while playing. This game is terrifying and will make you second guess yourself every time you open one of the doors and think "Am I going to die if I turn on my light? Did I hear its breathing?" This game is definitely the scariest in the entire series. I highly recommend.

insane RNG. u sit on a door and the second ur flashlight goes down, they insta move to the door and you are expected to stay on another 2 seconds to listen while there's a fat bastard waiting at the other door. worst game I have ever played. night 4 and 5 are only winnable IF you get insane RNG where chica stays in the kitchen the entire night and bonnie stays in the hallway so u can just chase off foxy the entire night. if he gets in the closet ur cooked because u have to wait at every door for 20 seconds to make sure u aren't a bad RNG victim

I might like the standard Fnaf formula and think there's a lot more that can be done with it, but it's completely reasonable to decide to switch things up after releasing 3 rather similar games within a year. Unfortunately, Fnaf 4 does not create an interesting experience out of its deviation from the formula, and has become the first in the series that I didn't want to beat (dropping it after night 5).
Repetitive actions and strategies were a notable complaint for previous entries, and Fnaf 4 builds this repetition into its core gameplay. You spend the entire 6 minutes of each night just checking hallways and occasionally the bedroom itself on a loop. This is not the max mode strategy, I'd be less bothered if it was, it is the way you play the standard nights from what is basically the very start of the game. They couldn't even fit a phone call in to keep you company due to the setting, so the tutorial is relegated to ugly text boxes at the start of night 1. These are the longest the nights have felt in these games so far, and it's 3 minutes shorter than Fnaf 1. The plushtrap minigame is a slight remedy to the tedium of the gameplay, and is an alright little challenge on its own, but it ultimately falls short when it comes to helping you out or feeling like a worthwhile addition due to not being able to replay it upon failure.
This game is also an accessibility nightmare, almost comically so. I'm not asking for the horror game to be devoid of loud sounds, but I do ask that it has competent audio mixing and that I can hear the important sounds cues properly at a volume that won't blast my eardrums when I lose. This is especially bothersome when breathing sounds play their quietest parts at first and you just don't notice anything, getting you killed. They took away the cameras, the resource management, the unique settings and the uncanny dread of previous titles just to leave the player with virtually nothing in return. You barely even get to see your enemies and when you do it's not hard to notice that they're some of Scott's sloppiest work so far, trying too hard to be scary and mostly just being riddled with goofy proportions and bad withering instead.
If I am to give it any credit, the atmosphere of Fnaf 4 is rather effective. The dark hallways and how the player needs to actively approach the danger, the more personal location of the game, and inclusion of ambient noises that are often both completely ordinary but still somewhat unsettling makes this game a little scary. While the story is not particularly gripping to me this time around, it still contains some nice ideas and moments like the apology given to the crying child at the end of the game. These are things that could've buttered me up to this game a little if it wasn't for one glaring problem.
This game does not work. I faced many notable issue while playing, most clearly being bugs and some that may possibly be intended but were so unfair that I can't believe that it's part of the game. I encountered many lag issues when it came to checking hallways, ranging from small delays on my flashlight to freezing my game entirely and forcing me to restart. I encountered multiple visual glitches like the blinking effect happening when nobody is ready to attack, or my screen going completely black when shutting the closet. Worst of all though, the thing that ultimately killed my drive to attempt night 6 onwards, was Nightmare Fredbear. His laughs can be "fake", I learned this early on, but there were multiple times where he would laugh, I would check every spot possible including the hallways, and I'd still die. There were times where I'd hear no movement for a while, check everything the same way, and I'd still die. There were even times where I'd shut the door quickly enough, no later than most other instances, and I'd still die. I cannot possibly be nice to this game when it couldn't even let me play its boring gameplay loop out properly. 1.5/10

безусловно самая страшная игра франшизы. возможно всё дело в необходимости игры в наушниках, ведь без них игра попросту непроходима, но, как мне кажется, ещё сильно влияет саспенс, нагоняемый саундтреком.
четвёрка планировалась стать финалом, однако глядя на последующие игры, заявлю: я рад, что фнаф не закончился на этой игре, ибо SL (пятая часть) - моя самая любимая в серии, ибо в первую очередь она даёт игроку РАЗНООБРАЗИЕ, которого в четвертой части, увы, маловато.

Графика в четвёртой части — это квинтэссенция всего самого жуткого, что было в серии. Кошмарные аниматроники прорисованы с любовью садиста: ржавые, зубастые, с выпученными глазами и конечностями, которые хочются сломать, чтобы они перестали двигаться. Фредбер — это вообще отдельный вид искусства: жёлтый медведь с пастью, в которой может поместиться ваша голова (и это не фигура речи, это сюжетный спойлер).
Но главное здесь — звук. Игра буквально ЗАСТАВЛЯЕТ вас выкрутить громкость на максимум, потому что ваше выживание зависит от способности услышать дыхание аниматроника за дверью. Вы сидите в полной темноте, в наушниках, и слушаете: шум улицы, колокола церкви, ветер, шаги... и вдруг — тяжёлое, хриплое дыхание. У вас есть три секунды, чтобы захлопнуть дверь, иначе — скример, от которого вы подпрыгнете до потолка. Скримеры здесь — визитная карточка: они не просто пугают, они выносят мозг. Особенно когда ты светишь в коридор, думая что там никого, а тебе в лицо прыгает трёхметровый зайка с воплем.

Геймплей — это испытание нервной системы на прочность. У вас есть четыре точки входа: левая дверь, правая дверь, шкаф напротив и кровать за спиной. Вы бегаете по комнате как угорелый: к левой двери — прислушаться, если есть дыхание — закрыть и ждать; к правой двери — то же самое; к шкафу — посветить и проверить, не засел ли там Фокси; обернуться — прогнать фантомных Фредди с кровати. И всё это одновременно, в реальном времени, с таймером на шесть часов.
Главная фишка: если вы слышите дыхание, НЕЛЬЗЯ светить в коридор — убьют мгновенно. Если дыхания нет — надо светить, чтобы прогнать аниматроника. А дыхание, блин, еле слышно на фоне посторонних шумов. Бонни приходит слева, Чика — справа. Фокси живёт в шкафу и периодически пытается вылезти, а на пятой ночи появляется Фредбер, который может прийти откуда угодно и когда угодно.
Между ночами — мини-игра с Плюштрапом: нужно заманить плюшевого кролика на крестик, чтобы сократить время следующей ночи. Проиграли — будете мучиться все шесть часов. Выиграли — начнёте с двух часов. Мелочь, а приятно.
Игра реально сложная. Вторая или третья ночь могут посоревноваться по сложности с режимом «Кошмар» из первой части. Пятая ночь — вообще отдельный круг ада.

Сюжет — это то, ради чего фанаты до сих пор ломают копья . В мини-играх между ночами мы видим историю Плачущего Мальчика (Crying Child), которого старший брат и его друзья постоянно пугают в масках аниматроников. В финальной мини-игре братья засовывают мальчика головой в рот Фредберу, и тот... откусывает ему лобную долю. Это и есть легендарный «Укус 87» (или 83 — тут фанаты спорят до хрипоты).
После этого мальчик впадает в кому. Вокруг кровати — таблетки, капельница, цветы . А всё, что мы видели в геймплее — его предсмертные кошмары. В финале игрушки исчезают, кардиограмма затихает — мальчик умирает. Это, блин, жестоко даже по меркам взрослых игр, а тут — хоррор про роботов.
Атмосфера здесь — абсолютная. Это не просто страшно, это ДАВИТ. Ты не в пиццерии, ты в своей комнате, в кровати, в темноте. И каждый шорох, каждый скрип, каждое дыхание за дверью заставляет сердце пропускать удар. Игра ломает четвёртую стену: когда ты понимаешь, что всё это время боялся того, что было лишь в голове умирающего ребёнка, становится по-настоящему жутко.

Nightmare does not stop lecturing me. I have a problem with this game; Nightmare keeps telling me that I am a horrible person and that I should revise my behaviour before insulting his friends, even if they consist of dead bodies in animatronic suits. Chica is annoying and her breathing is super light and hard to hear. Bonnie is okay, freddy is basically useless and fredbear is like playing against someone with hacks. Jokes aside, five nights at freddy's is my childhood game, I have loved it and will continue to love it forever. It is probably, now that I mention it, the game that sort of brought me into where I am today, my source of motivation when going to shcool was watching markiplier die over and over again in five nights at freddy's two. But my favorite game was by far this one. The concept of it being the oldest in the timeline and telling a lot of the story all while keeping its secrets makes this game the masterpiece that it is. There is no way that a mainstream horror game could ever beat the initial simplicity and amazingness that this game did, especially that insanely big wave of trend that FNaF has brought. I doubt that I will love a series more than this one. I love you "five nights at freddy's", Scott Cawthon and the entire community for an amazing childhood for me to live and enjoy.
