Das Spiel ist super.
Man muss nur ein bisschen experimentieren und vor allem die Geometrie hinter dem Spiel verstanden haben.
Jeder der in einem kreativen oder handwerklichen Zweig tätig ist wird davon profitieren. Die Lineale bewegen sich, und am Ende von jedem Level gibt es eine Überraschung.
Das Spiel ist aus Arabien, davon zeugt auch die Musik im Hintergrund und das Gebäude mit den Fenstern.

Ziemlich cool. Sich bewegende Objekte, die Muster malen - jedenfalls sollte man diese im Kopf nachvollziehen können, denn die Spur ist unsichtbar. Vorgegeben ist ein Ausschnitt des Musters. Nun soll man herausfinden, welche Stelle am sich bewegenden Objekt genau diese Linien zeichnet. Also den genauen Startpunkt herausfinden, damit die richtige Beugung gefunden wird usw.
Macht Spaß und ist sehr faszinierend.

Uniquely fun. Tickles the brain, and with great music for a delightful experience.
Badly designed puzzle game. Much of it is just trial and error. It develop general principles on such drawings. For instance, how radius proportion or frequency affects say the number of main humps or something to that effect. The position placement tool being imprecise also contributes to this. It'd be better if, for instance, you could create a precise subdivision at different radius. Even with the right solution its just trial and error to get it just right. Granted, programming something to 'check' the shape here is probably very hard, but it still doesn't make for a good puzzle game. For anyone playing, I personally found the latter half of the first chapters levels much harder than anything.
Did you ever play with spirograph as a kid? Not just the circle in a circle, but the reeeeeally insane stuff like the long bars that were just impossible to keep in position?
Engare is that but you have to start with part of the final drawing and figure out where to put your pen.
And I'm pretty sure you couldn't make half of this stuff with a sane spirograph set.
This is genuinely one of the most unique puzzle games I've come across and it is gorgeous. The Arabic art references drive home that this isn't just a silly children's toy, But a stylization of a legitimate artistic and architectural tool that can help make real and beautiful things.
It's also mind bending if you're not used to thinking about how nested rotations can behave.
Everyone who has even a passing interest in art, puzzles, or geometry genuinely needs to try this.

A satisfying head scratcher of a puzzle game. Never aggressively difficult but definitely challenging. The art style is minimalist but very beautiful. When you complete the levels you unlock a creative mode and generate your own designs, this is a fab addition to the game
It's a very good game but its to short, my first play through I beat the game in about 1 hour and 30 minutes. I would recommend if it was 10$ or less or there is more levels.

Very short game (~1 hr, my time is bugged), but I still would absolutely say it is worth it! If I were a game dev in 9th grade geometry class, this is the game I would have made. I feel like I've seen all of these patterns before, and yet tracing them out as this game does is such a joy. The execution is so smooth and the end of every puzzle felt like a breath of fresh air, especially in the several seconds between when you "solve" the puzzle and the game registers it, you just get to see the vision from your mind work its way out in front of you in real time... my description cannot possibly do justice for how pleasant this game is to play. Highly recommend.

What a beautiful and amazing experience. If you are interested in design and geometric patterns, then this is a wonderful game. Many patterns are showcased visually, and the Islamic Art Tools sandbox is worth the price alone.
Does it do what it says on the tin? I suppose it does. But I expected more from it.
Instead of enjoying the shapes, I was frustrated by the way I interacted with the sliders and how I kept having to re-click my dot. (Also, minor early-game annoyance.. I hadn't realized the example path was drawn with dashes, so I was utterly confused on that really early puzzle with the domino effect on how to create a non-contiguous line, which made me focus on the wrong part of the puzzle for like 20+ minutes because I utterly over-estimated the ambition of the puzzle...)
Instead of enjoying creativity, I found myself annoyed that many of the levels were immensely similar and that it was just a fiddly try-and-repeat until I got the sliders where I wanted them to.
I had hoped to walk away from this with some real insights into the patterns. And perhaps I can still get that to some degree from the creative editor section. But instead of happy feelings about the way the game enlightened me on a fresh new path of understanding, I instead feel myself lost going 'that's cool, I guess'.
It would be a far stronger game if it were able to feed into the proverbial 'eureka' by means of great puzzle design and level progression, but for me it never got anywhere close to that.
Maybe putting more creativity into the hands of the player could have helped. For example: create a shape of 49 roughly equally sized partitions. Or something with double the amount of triangle-like shapes than squarish ones. Create something with no concave shapes. Etc. Or letting a player put down multiple dots with different colors, which need to pleasingly interact visually. Etc.
Depending on what you are looking for, you may enjoy this game a lot more than I did.
This game definitely should be bigger for how much you have to pay as it takes around an hour to fully complete and I personally feel that the artistic side of repetitive motion is not enough to make it worth it.
I also didn't enjoy sitting through a short animation that shows me the full shape of what I was drawing every single level (or at least, that's what it felt like)

Lovely game! Lots of geometric shapes, and they're all satisfying and frankly beautiful! My only complaint is that I beat all the levels within an hour (and that includes some time fiddling around in the custom shape maker found in the center of the palace). While the last two levels are freeform and allow you to make nearly any shape at all, I would have liked there to be more levels where I had to figure out how to make the shape.
I want to love this game but, on deck, it's too fiddly and unforgiving.
such a delightful little game! very short, but it's such a sweet meditative experience that it's more than worth it.
the placement mechanics that check whether you solved the puzzle or not are a bit finicky, so a few of the levels took a bit longer than they should've even after i figured them out. but hey, you're supposed to be slowing down and thinking anyways.
i'd highly recommend the companion game to this, tandis, if this is your sort of thing.

Look at the screenshots. Do all the shapes appeal to you? Is this game's price justified for one or two hours of interesting shapes for you? I got it on sale, I think I got a fair value.
The puzzles are fine, but it's the implementation I like. It's a buttery smooth piece of software that does these loopy shapes. Some you might recognize from calculus or from seeing in Persian or Islamic art, and some are just nice loopy shapes. The nice thing here is that you get to see them in motion, you see what kind of movement these shapes emerge from, and the fact that it's a smooth render on your machine and not a video makes everything look so nice and clean. Again, drawing shapes on a computer is nothing new, it's how the concept is presented that makes it all work.
As a puzzler, it's not the most challenging, but as an experience, it is really novel. I really agree with the one blurb about grinning from ear to ear when it clicks on some levels.
The nice thing here as well is that it does not rely on typical gaming tropes, which leads me to think I can sit just about anyone in front of a screen, not people who are already into games, and have them enjoy this (if not beat all the levels in one to three hours)

I like geometry puzzles, equation/algorithm animation, and islamic geometric surface design. So this is a win win win for me. I'd say if you know you like even one or two out of these three, you should give it a go. If you dislike any of the above, then you probably won't enjoy it. I enjoy how you get rewarded for working something out - you see how the mechanism can be used to create a design. Re the puzzle manipulation, I could wish for the clues/traces to be more persistent, and for the speed to be more variable. But so far, I have only once had to resort to my first hint from someone who solved most of it in 2017 and documented it. I'm halfway through section 4 of 6 at the moment. So I'd say the difficulty is pretty goldilocks.
Ths game was...okay, but most of the puzzles were either very easy, or trial and error heavy. It took me about an hour to beat. Additionally, I wish there was more explanation that the freeplay areas were just freeplay and not challenges, or even better add several possible goals that you can find for them. The freeplay areas also caused my game to frequently crash.

数学や図形が得意な人は少しだけ有利かも。適当にやっても正解に近いものが出ることが多く、何回か試せば正解が出せる。プレイヤーがとれる選択肢は多くないので、総当たりしても良し。ちょうどいい難易度だと思う。
自分は数学好きではありませんが、「へー、これってこんな形がつくれるんだー」と完成したときにちょっと感動しました。
Won't oversell it because it's very short & easy if you're familiar with its concepts, but it's a great introduction if you're not. It also comes with some tools/toys that let you save 3D models and everything? And it's very pretty to boot! Tandis looks very good too.
These are games I wish i could fund some other way and then give to classrooms, I would've woken up as a kid. As a purchase though, I beat it in 2 hours so buy it on sale. no regrets but I was kinda hoping for more to sink my teeth into (hard to tell from the trailer).
It's also slightly fiddly due to its analog, cycle-based nature, but I actually found it was part of the appeal if you can put up with it, and it never really tests your patience for long.

Cela dit, prenez le plus comme une introduction aux entrelacs avec un outils de création en prime. Le "jeu" est très court et assez simple mais on se surprend à bidouiller des formes dans l'écran de dessin et au final on y passe plus de temps qu'à résoudre les dits puzzle.
Si vous prenez ce logiciel juste pour le jeu, vous allez être déçu. Si vous voulez un outils de création d'entrelacs avec un outils de pédagogie bien illustré et ludique (comme ce fut le cas pour moi), ce logiciel est fait pour vous :)))

A very short (~1 hr) but satisfying game and computer toy about spirograph-style geometric patterns. I recommend playing it alongside another person, as two heads are better than one, and oohing and aahing at the patterns created is a big part of the experience. Finding someone to play it with shouldn't be too hard, as it's visually magnetic and the type of game that non-gamers can appreciate.

I played through the puzzle levels in under an hour, and it was a very satisfying experience. They serve as a kind of tutorial, after which Engare is a generative drawing tool with a pleasant soundtrack.

I've had my eye on this (as in been in my wishlist) for years under the presumption that it was little more than a rudimentary editing/modelling tool. Well I finally had the chance to pick this up and give it a try. Two and a half dollars (on sale) and a little over 80 minutes later I can say this game needs more attention towards it.
Ever played The Incredible Machine series or it's spiritual successor Contraption Maker? Well this is that but geometry instead of trying to make rube goldberg machines, which is more fun and satisfying than it sounds. In the levels you are given rudimentary devices that you need to place a dot on, once you place the dot on the device it leaves a line as it's dragged along the screen and you need to experiment to try and make specific shapes to beat the level.
You know how with those games you only really get satisfaction if you either make the rube goldberg machine correctly or something funny happens? Well nearly every time you attempt a puzzle in Engare whether you are right or wrong is a treat as your attempt at a puzzle still will begin to create a beautifully satisfying shape; in fact one of my few complaints of this game is that for a decent amount of the levels the line trails being left by the dot don't go on for very long with incorrect answers; it would've been nice to have an option to let it keep going so we can see what beautiful shapes our incorrect answers create.
In fact, let's get the minor cons out of the way real quick. The music is good but I feel the variety available to you in this game could get grating if you for some reason play this nonstop for over two hours at once. It's nowhere near Animal Crossing: New Horizons levels of grating that is the first week or so of a new game (where you spend said entire week or so stuck with only one single music track), but for me as someone who enjoyed the music at the very least I noticed that it might get old if I played this game for an absurd amount of time at once.
The only other real con is that depending on the level the game can either be very forgiving or very nit-picky. I'll have to use very rudimentary symbol based examples to explain this. Let's say a mission requires you to make a /v\ line to beat it; sometimes you can get away with finding the solution but adding the dot too early resulting in a \/v\ line which the game accepts that you did it. Sometimes it doesn't but will give you it if you were too late and the line was v\. Sometimes it gives you no room for error and you need to be pretty much exact. I feel the game would be too easy if every level had universal rules to be very generous with timing but I feel my previous suggestion of letting a wrong answer line keep going so you can at least see if you were too early or too late for the next attempt would fix this, enough so that with a feature like this I wouldn't mind the game giving you no room for error across all levels.
Aside from those small cons this game is amazing for what it is, and at seemingly anytime you can use the "creator" mode of this game and proceed to go wild with making very beautiful patterns and shapes in both 2D and 3D. From parts of stylized buildings to stained glass windows to shapes to spice up patterns to go on any kind of item, I can see many uses for the editor mode.
Definitely pick this up if you enjoy games like Incredible Machine/Contraption Maker, want a chill game or want a fun editing tool for making patterns. Nowadays has a sequel and unlike Engare that took a long time for me to finally give it a try, I feel it's sequel Tandis will be in my library a heck of a lot sooner.
Simple, beautiful, and relaxing
Some of the levels you can finish more quickly by keenly observing pattern movement, but many levels are simply trial and error. It's not great as a puzzler, but the novel gameplay and experimentation with patterns is delightful.
I absolutely loved the level designs and pathing. It all looked so good that even when I ran into trouble I never felt like I didn't enjoy it. I had gotten it from the Vsauce Curiosity box :)
An amazing little game! Such a great blend of geometric puzzling and mechanical thinking, all brought together by an insane sense of style and cultural specificity. The free modes are a great touch and I'll be coming back to see what I else can do with them!
这个作者的两款游戏都把“自由创作”的概念贯彻到了各个细节上，比如一开始教学的时候玩家的绘图会被不停的补充完善，最后两个关卡玩家可以自由创作，通关之后还有一个图像生成器关卡可以游玩。
和《Tendis》不同作者没有拘泥于在所有关卡使用统一的图形生成工具，尤其是早期关卡出现了不少只用几次的简单机制，要说统一的话就只有 “通过运动轨迹产生图形” 这一点。最好玩的部分可能是最终关卡里出现的可以调整连杆长度解谜的内容，比起前几个关卡只能通过观看和试错解谜，加入一点互动总是好的。
由于这个游戏谜题的解法是唯一的，所以判定应该也比《Tendis》容易，暂时也没在讨论区看到有人卡出BUG。
Great game. Pretty short and easy as you can see on this review but well worth it. It's a very relaxing experience that takes you through beautiful discoveries. The only negative I could see is the control, it's hard to get a click to register and if you double click but the first one had registered you just cancel your drawing. The slow motion button does help a lot with that though. The music is as gorgeous as the visuals.
