No recomiendo este juego.

Al inicio, la verdad, me gustó bastante. El hecho de poder explorar libremente el mapa se sentía interesante y prometedor, y la historia también lograba enganchar lo suficiente como para querer seguir jugando, sobre todo por la curiosidad de ver qué conexión tenía con el primer juego. Sin embargo, conforme avanzas, esa sensación desaparece rápido y termina convirtiéndose prácticamente en un simulador de caminar. Gran parte del progreso consiste literalmente en ir de un extremo del mapa a otro una y otra vez, en las mismas zonas, lo que alarga artificialmente la duración del juego.

El tema de los enemigos también está muy mal balanceado. Hay momentos en los que no aparece absolutamente nada, y otros en los que de repente hay demasiados, casi como si estuvieras jugando algo tipo Dark Souls, pero sin esquive. Literalmente hay enemigos en cada rincón, y el juego pasa de sentirse vacío a ser frustrante sin un punto medio. Da la impresión de que no supieron combinar bien las mecánicas ofensivas con el ritmo del juego.

Pero lo peor, sin duda, es el sistema de combate. La idea de añadir combate cuerpo a cuerpo suena bien en papel (y de hecho es un buen cambio respecto al primer juego), pero está muy mal implementado. No puedes esquivar, y hay situaciones en las que un enemigo te golpea, caes al suelo, y antes de que termine la animación de levantarte te vuelve a golpear. Esto puede repetirse varias veces seguidas hasta matarte sin que puedas hacer absolutamente nada. Es frustrante y se siente injusto.

A esto se le suman varios bugs que afectan directamente la experiencia, incluso impidiendo avanzar en ciertas partes.

Como detalle técnico adicional: si no limitas los FPS o activas la sincronización vertical, puedes encontrarte con bugs como no poder abrir puertas, lo cual es bastante grave.

En general, da la impresión de que el juego no está bien terminado. Tenía buenas ideas, pero la ejecución deja mucho que desear. Es una lástima, especialmente porque el primer DreadOut fue uno de mis juegos favoritos.

Эта часть является продолжением истории Линды, рекомедую также глянуть мои предыдущие обзоры DreadOut. Здесь Линда уже сталкивается с последствием событий после длс к 1 части, DreadOut: Keepers of The Dark. Её начинают преследовать призраки-монстры уже и в обычной жизни, причем здесь их отношение к Линде уже отличается от предыдущих частей серии, не все из них агрессивные и по разному реагируют на неё. Они присутствуют в универе, больнице, дома, в городе, за городом и т.д. На каждом уровне есть уникальные враги, такие как одержимая студентка с топором в школе, хирург в больнице, огромный титан, злой двойник Линды в городе, призрак тигра в переулках, призрак тела бабки с отдельно летающей головой, за городом. Особенно понравился призрак тигра, символа города, так как он в начале кажется несерьезным, бьет лапой по голове и убегает, а потом неожиданно нападает. По ходу сюжета Линда узнает свое прошлое и особое предназначение, что она принадлежит к роду стражей-хранителей мира мертвых, является неким проводником между миром мертвых и живых, по этому её учительница ей заинтересовалась и использовала в своих целях чтобы стать сильнее. После чего Линда узнает об этом и пробирается в её логово, что оказывается пристанищем мертвых сектантов, которые в роли призраков охраняют дом, а учительница является главой секты. Для входа в потайное убежище и битвы с ней нужно решить серию загадок и сражений с мини-боссами. Сама учительница Линды в итоге является главным финальным боссом, которого нужно победить и решить что с ней делать.
В этой части также, есть городские легенды, серии побочных заданий, одно из них прям душевное и открывает новую локацию, в руководствах стима есть информация про поконга-мотоциклиста, что лучше посмотреть сразу до прохождения, иначе можете его потом уже не встретить, разве что перепройдя уровень заново, благо в меню будет такая возможность после полного прохождения. Кроме того, есть также небольшой пролог перед событиями 1 части, который также можно будет глянуть в меню.
Игра является скрытым шедевром, но слегка кривоватым в техническом плане, так как её делала инди-студия, но если вы готовы смириться с небольшими нюансами, то однозначно рекомендую. У игры классная атмосфера, уникальные враги и необычный сюжет.

Mi son deciso a prenderlo molto tardi considerando che il primo tutto sommato mi era piaciuto abbastanza. Tuttavia questo sequel fa quasi pena, tecnicamente inferiore al primo gioco, mezzo buggato dopo quasi 6 anni e senza un effettiva personalità, sembra voglia fare più cose del richiesto non facendone bene nemmeno una. Le nuove meccaniche sono discutibili, ed avrebbero avuto un senso se funzionassero. il doppiaggio è scarso oltre che incompleto, a volte parlano inglese altre indonesiano, la qualità grafica complessiva è scadente ed i movimenti innaturali e degni di un titolo low budget della ps2, mi ha annoiato gia dal tutorial. Altra occasione persa per permettere di esplorare una cultura diversa dal solito ed inflazionato folkrore giapponese. Quest'anno esce il terzo ma ho poca fiducia.

Every aspect of this game is a complete downgrade from the first, borderline unplayable mechanics (hit stun lock, camera is awful,etc), more action oriented, frame drops/instability which completely messes with doors (which are tied to frames for some reason? And the devs have refused to patch any of this..

If you love the first game and want to ultimately hate the franchise, play the sequel. It starts off just slightly above mediocre with so much potential then slowly fumbles it with absolutely terrible combat mechanics and game design that gets progressively worse. Most games try to build up to an epic finale, but this game somehow built down to a pathetic ending.

[b][i]Первая часть, конечно, тоже была не звезда с неба, но она была по-своему интересной, где-то даже жуткой. Здесь же почти всё прохождение я ждал, когда сей шедевр закончится.[/i][/b]

Во-первых, к чему вся эта боёвка? Если нет денег, зачем мучить себя и игроков, если по итогу бои получились либо однокнопочной скукаторией (оглушил, ударил, отошёл, и по кругу), либо раздражающей ccaниной, где тебя либо постоянно станят тентакли с потолка, либо враги берут в котiл, бьют и не дают выбраться, а боссы имеют непонятные паттерны ударов и ты их просто танчишь. Есть так же немало боссов, которых, по классике, всё же нужно брать вспышками камерами и это тоже вещь сомнительная, ибо единственный челлендж в том, что боссы порой упорно не хотят получать урон от вспышек.

Добавили так же условно открытый мир и целых ТРИ КВЕСТА НА ПРОХОЖДЕНИЕ! Ага!, а как вы хотели, это же CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT! Мир мёртвый и вызвать интерес не может, типа, о чём говорить, если вы можете подняться на второй этаж хаты Линды, подойти к любой комнате, заглянуть в окошко и увидеть внутри абсолютно пустой карцер, который разработчик поленился заполнить рандомной мебелью, потратив пять минут своего времени. Вы один дом сделать не можете, к чему эти понты?

Особенно при учёте, что вы в первую очередь делаете хоррор, а по итогу игра совершенно не страшная. Честно, я даже не увидел попыток создать саспиенс или взять меня на абордаж скримерами, игра больше походит на дешёвый слэшер. Всё, чего можно боятся — это баги, механики, которые криво работают и невыпадающие достижения. Зато всё теперь на Unreal Engine 4.

Вот правда, кажется у игры появился новый геймдизайнер, который решил сделать игру более модной, совсем забыв и про первую часть, и про свой бюджет. Лучше бы сделали вновь линейную игру, зато с в кои-то веки разнообразными хорошим локациями, где будут интересные задачки, а не нагромождение пустых коридоров, где даже так всё равно вечно непонятно куда идти ибо нужные предметы либо сливаются с окружением, либо задача игроку поставлена туманно, либо проход непримечательный, либо ещё что. И лучше бы вложили деньги в сюжет ибо, кроме мисс Сиски (ня!), никто полноценно не озвучен, а катсцен кот наплакал. Нарратив конечно стал понятнее, чем раньше, но всё ещё не айс, и по итогу мы вновь идём через череду случайных локаций к вновь очень скомканному финалу, который больше походит на пародию и не отдаёт тем эпиком, которого смогли добиться в прошлый раз.

Я бы очень хотел, чтобы вторая часть мне понравилась, ведь первая часть, со всеми своими минусами (а их было не мало), была по-своему милой. Тут, конечно, тоже есть своя милота: саундтрек всё так же неплох, главная героиня услада для глаз, индонезийский сеттинг всё ещё выглядит экзотично и интересно, пара запоминающихся моментов тоже присутствует, но в остальном второй Dreadout это очень скучная, кривая и нестрашная игра, которая пошла совершенно не туда, и рекомендовать я её не могу.

Its flaws—clunky combat, uneven pacing, and technical rough edges—are difficult to ignore, but they coexist with moments of genuine dread and originality. For players drawn to atmospheric horror, unconventional mechanics, and culturally specific storytelling, DreadOut 2 offers a memorable journey that feels personal, unsettling, and distinct within the survival-horror genre, even when it stumbles under the weight of its own ambition.

Re-doing my review now that I have completed this game, do not listen to positive reviews.

The story is your basic "I want to rule the world villain" bs. The combat is REALLY bad, so much so that the final fight leaves you in a stun lock. There's zero run system, parry system, or dodge system, you literally just have to sit there while ghosts and tendrils run a train on you- and that goes for 90% of the fights in this game. You literally beat fights because Linda has an obscene amount of health, that's literally it.

The story is bad, there's zero player direction and you have to guess what to do almost all of the time since the system in place to tell players stays blank for about 70% of the game. There's also just so many unnecessary things in the game to make it feel more complete than it ACTUALLY is and mechanics that are NEVER explained, like how your bracelet lights up when there's a secret nearby.

On top of just how horrid it is to play and how lacklustre the story is, the game is just janky. The only one fully voice acted in english is Miss Siska, everyone else will say one word to you in native tongue and you're forced to read the rest of their dialogue. The photo system of the game is probably the jankiest part, you can't spam photos like you could in the first game so there's a cool-down but on top of it if you take pictures too quickly of the ghost, it doesn't register and you have to refocus the ghost and it takes SOOOOOOO LONG to actually kill it.

The first game was a wonderful story-heavy indie horror based on Indonesian folklore, this is a combat-heavy nothingburger of a game that tried and failed to insert Indonesian folklore into their game.

I was going to give this game a positive review since they seemed to learn a lot of lessons from the first game, then I hit the tiger boss.

Ah, the tiger boss. Up to now, the boss encounters have been buggy and annoying, but this encounter takes the cake.

The goal is to take a photo of the tigers head while he charges at you from various directions for phase 1, and then for phase 2 you're stuck in a tiny arena against him.

There's some issues. He takes like 50 photos to kill, and he's essentially impossible to dodge. But the biggest kicker of all, the damn camera bugs out and doesn't do any damage most of the time, so you end up relying on RNG to be on your side.

The developers haven't learned the lesson that if the player is frustrated, they are no longer scared. They are no longer having fun. They are no longer immersed.

They are just pissed off.

I'm done. Developers, please figure out how to make games better. Every time I play a Dreadout game, I can see the faint glimmerings of something amazing, and then you go and screw it up. Please, please, take a moment to think through these things.

Edit: I hate leaving games unfinished sometimes, so I came back. I managed to beat the tiger boss by circling to the left, waiting for it to jump, then trying to get a picture of its head before it started moving.

After finally beating the tiger boss, what remained for me was...more buggy boss fights, including one that took an hour to beat because it kept glitching out of bounds so that I couldn't beat it. There were also scripted events that didn't properly execute, requiring me to reload multiple times.

Overall, I do not recommend playing this unless you have a high level of patience for bugs and questionable game design choices. Which is really unfortunate, because the game is a major step up from the first game in many ways. Where the first game felt like a student-made game, this game really felt like an actual professionally-developed game with a certain level of charm. It's just that the charm was immediately destroyed by frustration from the lack of QA and the frustrating combat mechanics. I can still see that faint glimmering of something possibly great, but the developers will need to reconsider how they want to approach this franchise. Here's hoping that DreadOut 3 is designed to be less frustrating.

Lo que disfruto de esta saga es como es de vital importancia aver jugado los anteriores para recordar o aparecerte una referencia en cualquier momento que conecta y da sentido a eventos anteriores, aparte de por fin poder defendernos con algunas armas y vengarnos de solo usar el celular antes xd

Crea esos momentos de incertidumbre que no sabes de donde va salir algo de la nada, la atmosfera y ambientanción se mantiene sin duda y bueno... a la espera del 3 que como siempre, nos dejan con ganas con el final que joder... Pesado de final que tiene Dreadout 2 🔥

Overall, it was a fun interesting game, but there was some times where the fighting was rather annoying to pull off, especially with the stun locks. And some parts of the game being rather slow and having a lack of sense of direction, not knowing what to do, had to check a guide for the Act 6, as I was completely lost.

But still, i'd recommend playing it. It's very interesting and I was always intrigued by what would come next.

Well... from where do I begin?

I bought the first DreadOut more in october 2017, played it back then, and then replayed it a bit in 2018. Now, in november 2025... I was thirsty. Thirsty for horror. I don't know why, I don't know how to explain it, but my soul was craving for horror. And then, after playing some other games for the first time, replaying others, and others finishing it after having played them just up to a certain point years ago (the very first Project Zero on PS2)... I thought to myself: "I want more Project Zero. But I can't afford them now. So... what if..."

And so, I downloaded again, after more than 7 years, the very first DreadOut. And my God, it was a love/hate relationship. But, after unlocking all three endings, having seen basically all of it, and after experiencing bugs, game-breaking bugs (two times)... I ended up loving it.

And so, I bought Keepers of the Dark, DreadOut's... standalone expansion, we could call it, I think? And, to my surprise, I liked it a lot! It was interesting, fun, and my God, it gave me at least one big heart attack, at some point, if I recall correctly.

And then... it was its turn.

DreadOut 2.

I actually got "spoiled", some years ago, some DreadOut 2 content while watching a OddHeader video about out-of-bounds findings in games. But you know what? That thing has stuck with me. Because it was so... peculiar, fascinating. So interesting. And so, despite already knowing was can be seen in that video... I decided to play DreadOut 2. Because I wanted to see that with my eyes!

And, when I first started up the game... it was so nice to hear that main menu music. I felt like I was at home again.

What really left me astounded, at first, was the vastly improved main menu (thank you for fixing the DreadOut 1 and KOTD bug which made the game forget the controls when you changed them), and, obviously, the GRAPHICS. After playing the first Dreadout and KOTD just a few days ago, the leap from them to 2, in graphics, animations... EVERYTHING, is outstanding! And let me get something instantly out of the chest:

LINDA LOOKS SO HHHHHHHMMMMMMMM GOOD HERE IN DREADOUT 2!

Like, she was already pretty in 1 and KOTD. But, my God, here in 2 she's not just pretty. She actually is extremely beautiful. Especially because of her new haircut (if you remove this haircut from DreadOut 3, I'm going to send a Pocong right to your door, Digital Happiness, don't you dare completely removing it XD). Because that is not just a haircut. That is THE HAIRCUT! That short-but-not-so-short, a bit fluffy and a bit messy, with those LONG BANGS which I ABSOLUTELY LOVE... my God. Every now and then, I took screenshots of her, because she truly is "girlfriend material", as someone calls her in game. XD

Okay, now, as for the game itself. Well, where to begin from?

The combat system got probably simplified and quickened, and now, combined with the new oh-so-good movement system, it actually is more reflexes-based. Well... that side of the combat at least. Because hey... you thought DreadOut was just an indonesian Project Zero?

♥♥♥♥ no.

It's far more than that.

Now, you've got to deal not with just ghosts. Oh no, girl. Now you've got to deal with... well, literally hand-to-hand combat with paranormal entities. And it's surprisingly good, it really gives a good feedback, and it's so satisfying to fight enemies this way. And it even has a tactical/puzzle side to it, because you can't just "axe your way out", you know?

I'm a mess when it comes to writing reviews, I know, I'm sorry.

But I don't like spoiling potential players off their potential first time experience, you know?

The very first time is precious, don't throw it away like nothing.

Another thing that really stuck with me was... well, basically everything. But the sound design, which was already good in the very first one, and even better in KOTD... well, it's really damn excellent time around. From music, to ambience (that ambient track which sounds like an engine turning up and immediately going down, is so good, and it really sets the mood perfectly, especially in Indiemooi), to enemy sounds... it all merges together so armoniously and vibrantly, despite having disturbing imagery on screen, that hmmm, it just is so nice to listen to it, and immerse yourself inside that world with Linda.

And, I have to say, I really like her.

Because her story, what she constantly goes through (thank you for having some sense of humor too, that scene where she makes that guy faint was fun), how she pushes through despite the difficulties and the challenges... she truly is inspirational. I'm not joking. I find her to be extremely relatable, only I have, sometimes, my mind too clouded by negativity, and so the road ahead suddenly starts to get foggy.

I will replay DreadOut 2, at some point. Hey, maybe even tomorrow or tonight, who knows? Because I have various secondary quests still to do (like, all of them minus 2, basically).

Is this really a review? Heh, probably not. I really haven't said anything specific about DreadOut 2.

But, if you were to ask me: is it worth buying?

♥♥♥♥ YES, IT IS.

I'm even thinking of taking a look at Exsports's site.

You may not know what I'm talking about, so, hey. Why don't buy DreadOut 2?

Always support indie developers! Especially those who pour their soul into what they do (and, as for DreadOut, it really shows).

Because the leap from the first two games is mind-blowing, my God.

Oh, and speaking of God: may He-She bless you all, Digital Happiness! You really deserve all the best! I really look forward to playing DreadOut 3.

And, I know I've already said it... but don't you dare completely remove Linda's DreadOut 2 hairstyle from 3, you hear me??

Because yes, to quote an npc in Linda's city, she is beautiful on the inside, so, short hair or ponytail doesn't really matter. Because ponytail is... heh, it's okay. I don't mind it. BUT. Short hair with bangs is just DIVINE.

PS: oh, and I played Jurig Escape too, before DreadOut 2. And, I have to say... you really came a long way, huh? :D

Mejora notable respecto al primer juego:
El combate no destaca especialmente, pero funciona bien para lo que se espera del juego, y al ir intercalando el combate entre hacer fotos y armas blancas hace que no se haga pesado.

La historia sigue la del primero, pero sí que es cierto que he sentido que esta vez era menos críptica; no es algo que te cambie la vida, pero es lo suficientemente interesante como para mantenerte jugando.
El juego tiene algo de exploración de la ciudad que puedes hacer entre misiones principales, y, pese a que es cierto que le da vida al mundo y realmente consigue que se sienta que lo que pasa en la historia no es solo un caso aislado, el movimiento de la protagonista se siente muy lento, lo que hace que se vuelva tedioso (la exploración dentro de la ciudad necesaria para completar el juego no es mucha).

La única cosa que ha empeorado respecto al primer juego es el terror, que en este juego es inexistente. Aunque también puede deberse a que han optado por centrarse en una acción más directa.

Incluso con todos sus problemas, el juego me ha gustado más de lo que esperaba, dejándome incluso con ganas de más, pero me costaría recomendarlo porque, aun siendo un juego que se nota que se ha hecho con cariño, se le ven las costuras.

One tip for Act 5 limit your fps to 60 if a enemy goes underground. Had a lot of fun figuring that one out. But besides that okayish.

Phew... That was a rough one.
It is a better game than the first one and it started of very good. I liked the mix of Combat and the previous mechanic with the camera. However the Combat is bad. Really clunky and slow. Bossfights (like that big human eating ape or whatever) took forever. One of the worst fights i have encountered. it felt like one of those ♥♥♥♥ mods in Skyrim where you are in Oblivion..
The Story is actually interesting although some opportunities were missed. Also some uniqie characters have zero interaction anymore after encountering them once. Still Since there is no mixed Option i give it a thumbs up since its mor expensive than the first one. But for the Third game, please remove the combat or make it better (and not repetitive)

Me gustó la continuación de la historia , los puzzles, ambientación, música, diseño de jefes, en general es bueno tirando a decente a excepción el sistema de combate es una re poronga, está muy mal hecho, mil veces mejor el de la entrega anterior.
El juego como secuela está bueno y es entretenido pero ni a palos es mejor que la primera parte.
Se viene una tercera parte asi que tengo fe de que salga bien

I really enjoyed Dreadout 1 and was hoping to enjoy the sequel...spoiler I don't! My biggest complaint is that it says it fully supports my controller but certain control will not work on the controller and every time I go into the settings I am unable to bind the keys to the controller so i'm stuck using both controller and keyboard/mouse at the same time which is annoying. Also the boss fights suck. The Tiger boss fight is such BS I was done. You get barley any time to take a photo before the tiger attacks you again and again and again.

总体上还行吧，22年的时候通关过一次，steam推送界面看到26年要出3代（感觉3代的脸一坨，鼻子怪怪的），发现2代了漏了几个成就没做就顺手开个二周目完成一下。整体设计上其实不如前作，有了武器之后恐怖氛围指数级下降。有少量BUG，不过整体上没有什么太过卡人的地方，游玩下来过程还算流畅。建模比较粗糙，一分钱一分货吧。在20年看来价格和质量还是对的上的，现在打折的话也值得买下来一玩，纯粹来体验一下东南亚鬼怪文化还是可以的。

I dont think the game is completely bad, But the combat.... ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Drags down the whole game unfortunately. If it would be some small parts you can fight through with a bit of frustration, I would recommend the game. But actually it ♥♥♥♥♥ up a lot of times. I dont know which developer thought "What a great combat system". Please, jsut stop making combat systems. Go for asset design or something.

in general its a really nice horror game, although there are some major bugs that ruin the game a little. For example some of the doors needs like a whole minute to open because they are bugged and the deaf ghost does not show on the camera(you cant complete the achievement without him). The game itself is really nice and the music gives you the needed spooky vibes but the small things are really annoying and ruin the gameplay. Its a solid 7/10

Surprisingly good. Some of these games don't have much to offer but this is actually a solid complete horror game. I thought the only weapon is a camera like in Fatal Frame, which I don't like but in fact there are Axes and Knives, decent combat, varied environments, a lot of work went into this game for a small team. I am excited for part 3 it looks even better

I'll be honest, I deliberated for months whether to leave a review. it's REALLY janky - even frustrating at times. But it's also an earnest and passionate game making great use of an overlooked mechanic that pairs perfectly with horror. The authentic depiction of a seldom seen culture and its urban legends makes it feel unique, the brisk pacing keeps things interesting, and Linda is SO pretty in all the best ways. Despite its flaws, I recommend because I definitely had fun and am excited for the next game! I also want to support these indie devs because it's clear they want to make the best games they can and love what they do.
