Bit of a strange one to review. I didnt really find the individual parts to be all that good but as a whole package I found this game to be quite enjoyable. I was messing round and didnt really tackle the game seriously but I broadly liked what I played. Admittedly unlikely for me to play it again in the future as it is not that interesting. 7/10.

Very fun and cute and addicting, game play is a perfect difficulty, I just wish there were more dog skins and breeds available.
Game has flashing lights that cannot be disabled, even if you dont have issues with flashing lights they will be in your face constantly and prevent you from seeing whats going on and being able to properly play the game.

It is super sweet and good idea, but the game loop is just boring. You have to throw food to feed hungry dogs. Sometimes you need to click on something else. After you feel the rhythm, it gets pretty easy and becomes extremely boring.

Boring gameplay and super repetitive. Most games like this implement new game features at a pretty brisk and regular pace. But this one just keeps you doing the same 2-3 things over and over again. I expected more of a management type game, but there are pretty much no choices to be made.
After finding out this was released on steam i played it for 5 hours straight, its currently 8am for me.
I played this game so much as a kid and being able to play it again is amazing, its such a fun and addictive game to play. Its a tiny bit buggy but it didnt affect the gameplay at all so im still quite happy. its sad to see the devs not updating it anymore but its nice that its still here.

I love this game so much I have both the PC version & the IPad version. This is a fairly simple game about being a musher who owns & runs their own dog sledding team. You can customize the sled to a certain point, pick out or breed dogs & name them; you can even get sponsors who will give you certain buffs such as for food. There is a story to this game as well, but I won’t spoil it, but I will say it’s pretty good. Pro Tip: Manage entree fees & rent wisely. You’ll thank me for this.

A cozy game that's great for dog lovers or people who think dogs are just neat. It reminds me of old SNES games, so it hits a nostalgic bone in my body, along with an arcade vibe to it as well. For me, it hits all the right niches for me to keep coming back to when I'm feeling down or just some repetitive gameplay. If you don't like doing something over and over, then I would advice against this game. If you're like me who enjoys doing the same thing over and over with minor improvements here and there, then this is right up that alley!
This game also shared that Shih-poo is a dog and they're the sweetest looking doofuses I've seen.

used to play this when it came out, and even before then I watched youtubers (either seri pixel biologist or stacy plays) playing it, so there's a lot of nostalgia attached to it. what I didn't realize nearly 10 years ago though is how addictive and enjoyable the gameplay is, the soundtrack is really nice and changes up often, the pixel art is always pleasant and reminds me now of similar looking side scrollers like kingdom two crowns. 100% in progress

I love this game with all my heart. It reminds me of animal management flash games I played as a child. The main gameplay of the races is relatively simple, but it scratches an itch I forgot I had. I often mute soundtracks in games to play my own music, but this game has a fun, memorable soundtrack that pops in my head from time to time.

Dog Sled Saga is a great game. The style is like an arcade game but with many more features. If you love dogs and racing this game is for you, but also if you just want to play a fun different kind of game it is still great. I normally play survival craft games, but this game was still enjoyable. Overall the game has a great feel and the music is absolutely amazing. The only critiques I would have are a certain bug and the story. First, there is a small bug where when you add something to your upcoming schedule one thing will go invisible. Next, the story about Aurora seems somewhat thrown in there and is kinda forgettable until it pops up every now and then. other than that the game runs smoothly in all areas and is very fun. 8/10

Definently the game I have the least amount of hours on, but its very straight forward to complete and collect all the achievments. I love it, and every now and again I'll play it again to relax and enjoy the racing, but it needs updates I feel, with more to do if possible. If you want cute dogs, racing, and rivalry, its a great game and the graphics are so adorable. Getting up the leagues is incredible, but despite my hours of playing, understanding how the fatigue and feel of the dogs is still a little trippy, and it can be upsetting not having my favourite dogs in a race.

I got this game a day before making this review, and i've already played 3 hours. When i first got this game it wouldn't run when i pressed play, but after refunding and buying it 3 times it finally worked. Anyways, as a dog-lover, i ADORE this game so much. Its very grindy, but its easy to get the hang of. At the start you pick your first 3 dogs and you can pick any breed, gender, and personality, and you can change their name and harness color. I dont know what else to put

Super Fun little game, it has fun mechanics and a extremely charming art style! I really enjoy how in depth the traits for the dogs are and how that effects gameplay. I will say it doesn't seem completely finished from what i can tell and has some minor bugs, that being said it doesn't take from the game at all and while I would love more it stands fine as it is.
Bought this game nearly 8 years ago and i still play it on and off. I think people who enjoy the 'cozy' vibe of games would enjoy this one. While the premise is basic, the mechanics are nicely polished, creating a great overall game. Finally finished all the achievements, woo!

It's a niche game. You own a sled of dogs you race until you become the best sledder in your league. Not that long to complete. Its one of those games that you boot up when you have nothing to play and it's a pleasent experience pet your dogs train them and race.

Dog Sled Saga is a fantastic game, even though it's simple. I've had a lot of fun playing it. However, there's 1 serious flaw in this game: Newer players are not well introduced to the "Natural" position a dog has. I had no idea this was a feature until very late game. That means that in order for me to get all natural dogs for each position, I have to hire new dogs and race with them until their natural position is revealed. The problem with this is that 1. it's grindy, and 2. I am already in the highest league. This means any NEW hires have the bare minimum of stamina, meaning you have to constantly feed them during races and they very easily get exhausted. This is very annoying to deal with as a late-game player.

A simple game where you race dogs and build you career.
While I like the idea of the game and the story, the gameplay itself feels dull and lacking, since the only thing you do is feed the dogs and avoid a couple of obstacles. I would say it's something to try when you have a few minutes spare, but the price makes this game completely out of the question.

It's a simple game that feels somewhat addicting. It has mechanics that anyone can learn easily, and it's a great game for if you want to relax and not have to think too hard. The game-play can be repetitive and get boring, but I find that if I take breaks between playing then I'm alright. One of my favorite mechanics is how dogs may have a negative trait and a positive trait. which makes the dogs feel unique and also can add challenge to races. If you don't mind taking breaks every so often, and you like simple games with easy mechanics, then I would very much recommend this game!!

+ pieski są cudne;
+ pikselowe tła są na wysokim poziomie.
Co WIESZ, TO ZALEŻY:
~ gejmplej opiera się na wspomnianych wyścigach, osoby nastawiające się na menedżment nie mają tu czego szukać, bo stanowi ułamek rozgrywki.
A co NOT:
- minigierka przestaje bawić, gdy zamienia się w grind, w którym w kółko robisz to samo, a niewiele się zmienia;
- menedżment jest tak płytki, że mogłoby go w sumie nie być i nikt by nie zauważył;
- tak samo trenowanie psów - niby mają jakieś umiejki, punkty sławy, poziomy i tak dalej, ale w ogóle nie było we mnie poczucia, że to w jakiś specjalny sposób wpływa na rozgrywkę;
- projekt UI jest amatorski, już w momencie tworzenia zapisu udało mi się na chwilę zgubić (pomysłem tej gry na jej rozpoczęcie jest wejście do zakładki "saves" w menu głównym, wybranie pola zapisu, wprowadzenie danych, wrócenie z zaznaczonym polem do menu głównego i dopiero stamtąd kliknięcie "start");
- po przypadkowym sprzedaniu psa (znowu, UI...), gra mnie poinformowała, że jakby co, to jest specjalna zakładka, w którym mogę odsprzedane psy odkupić - i ten odkupiony pies okazał się w tak zwanym międzyczasie stracić wszystkie umiejki i punkty treningu, [i]tabula rasa[/i];
- wczesne wprowadzenie opcji, które w ogóle się nie przydają (jak "hej, masz wystarczająco pieniędzy, by zatrudnić pracownika!", dostajesz komunikat w momencie, gdy masz za mało psów, żeby pracownik był ci po cokolwiek potrzebny);
- późne wprowadzenie opcji, które byś chciał (np. chociaż masz miejsce, z jakiegoś powodu możesz zacząć rozmnażać psy dopiero wtedy, gdy masz ich szóstkę, bo tak);
- niby jest jakaś tam w tle historia o lokalnym legendarnym psie opowiadana przez pamiętniczek postaci, ale nawet nie chciało mi się tych rozwleczonych notatek czytać do końca (już nie mówiąc o tym, że i tak przez projekt pomyślany na telefon często zdarzało mi się je niechcący zamykać zamiast przewijać);
- humorzaste aczivki.
"Dog Sled Saga" to gra pomyślana na komórkę z krótkimi sesjami, i to czuć. Sama wyścigowa minigierka jest dobra, ale szybko nuży przy dłuższym posiedzeniu przy komputerze. Bylejakie UI, brak różnorodności. Do tego z dnia na dzień wcięło mi zapis (krótka lektura forum uświadamia, że "no to się zdarza bo tak, trzeba zacząć od nowa"). Traktuję to jako interwencję przychylnej siły wyższej, która zaoszczędziła mi mnóstwo czasu (udało mi się dotrzeć do czwartej ligii): po zobaczeniu zakończenia na jułtubowym gejmpleju okazało się, że tak naprawdę nie ma zakończenia, docierasz do siódmej ligii i tyle, nawet głupiego "GRATULACJE, CZEMPIONIE!" pożałowali, gra po prostu toczy się dalej bez zmian.
Jasne, za pracę należy się płaca, ale aż 37 zł?? Za grę pomyślaną na telefon, z jedną minigierką i cienką warstwą menedżmentu??? Te piętnaście lat temu temu to by była darmowa flaszówka...

Get on sale, worth $5, not really enough depth to the game to justify full price. The dogs are cute and you can take shih tzus and schnauzers dog sledding for some reason, that reason being even more cute.

A cute and not to complicated game about dog sledding. There is 7 leagues you can go through, each harder than the last. Personally, I was comfortable around league 6, as league 7 was just too challenging (great for money though). You earn money through races and have to pay your bills at the end of the month, so you have to spend your money wisely. Racing is pretty simple - give the dogs treats before the get tired, dodge rocks by jumping, and don't throw treats when a tree is going to be in the way.
The art style is adorable and the dogs have awesome running animations. You can buy dogs, breed them, pet them, train them, race them, or let them rest. That's it - no cleaning kennels or having to feed them, etc. All dogs have certain traits: a skill, a fault, a favorite thing, and an aptitude. Skills and faults happen during the race and can either help or harm you, faults happen less and skills happen more the happier the dog is. Favorite things determine the dog's happiness. The longer the dog goes without its favorite thing, the less happy it will be. Aptitude determines what position the dog with be good in (wheel, middle, or lead).
The story is lackluster. Your character does not have a personality - just a rival that is literally named "The Jerk". The story is told through journal entries and is honestly pretty boring. If you were hoping for a great story to go along with the fun and simple game play, this might not be the game for you.
Overall, its a great game to play for a few hours, get all the achievements, and come back to occasionally when you are missing your doggos.

The dogs and their animations are cute and that's about it with the positives. Everything else is extremely basic, which leads to both boredom and frustration. Because you do everything with your left mouse button, many commands during the race get overlapped and lead to failure. Every dog starts from level 0 and you need to level it up, therefore you will stick to your first batch of dogs forever. The story is reading up about some mystical dog of the past and a rivalry with another dog sledge racer. The UI is super bad too, you have to click multiple times to read up on all the stats of a dog instead of just one window that has all the information. After the first couple of minutes, you have seen all the game has to offer and that's not a lot.
Love this game. Easy mechanics, great visual experience, perfect for multitasking and just losing any sense of time and space.

- I wanted to see what would happen if I left league 7 for a lower league to help level up some of my newer dogs and went bankrupt real fast
Overall, I will definitely be returning to this game and starting all over. I find great joy in getting to know the dogs I put on my team, collecting the best sponsorship options and setting up different team comps for different race difficulties.

I so wish this game would get picked up again for an update or even a DLC, there's a lot of potential and options for improvement and the game is definitely one of a kind.
I think a review is due since this game is why I made a Steam account in the first place. The graphics are very charming and the gameplay is simple and easy to pick up. It's a bit repetitive, but it feels like a game you don't finish in one sitting. I would only recommend it if that doesn't bother you, but if it doesn't then I highly recommend it. It really holds up even though it's nearly a decade since release.

one of my favorite games! every so often and i'll come back and revisit it to play through again with some sort of new self-imposed challenge. the gameplay can get repetitive but i find it overall very relaxing and i can easily sink a lot of time into perfecting my team. i just wish there was more content, and a hard mode. i can only hope that one day we'll get a dog sled saga 2!
i've played 100% of this game and i still don't understand how half of the mechanics work

i love a good enemies to lovers story
Dog Sled Saga is an adorable game with a good foundation - I just wish there was more to it. A lot more to it.
Buying cute dogs is fun, naming them, picking your favourite breed and what harness they will wear. The art and animations are [b]adorable[/b]. Then you enter races where you throw biscuits at your dogs as they get tired, and occasionally jump over an obstacle or untangle your ropes. It's a well-made, deceptively challenging minigame, but it is 99% of the game once you pick your dogs. The game takes roughly 15 hours to complete, and the very last race you play is basically the same as the very first race you do. The weather might be worse and there might be a couple more obstacles, but not a single new mechanic is added from start to finish.
You don't need to manage your kennel at all, you don't feed them, groom them, etc. You just select "rest" or "train" each day, for which there are no minigames or animations, it just makes bars go up or down. There are a few management elements available, such as hiring staff or breeding puppies, but there are only downsides to these. You pay quite a lot of money every month based on how many dogs you have, so you want to avoid having more than the minimum amount. Your dogs don't get sick or die, and they only level up the more you use them, so starting again with a brand new dog is a nightmare. So you stick to the very first set of dogs that you picked at the beginning of the game, don't experiment with different breeds or traits, don't breed puppies and don't hire staff (because your own character can always care for the minimum number of dogs).
There's no story to speak of - your character has no personality and never talks about their goals. You have a rivalry with another racer but you never actually enter dialogue with them. Your mentor only talks to you in really short, vague, unhelpful hints... e.g. if you throw a biscuit to your dog at a specific time, the word 'perfect' appears and your dog gets a speed boost. When I asked my 'mentor' about perfect throws he said "If you feed at the right time, you'll get a bonus!" ...Okay, I already worked that out - I thought you'd tell me how to know when the right time actually is.
Ultimately it kind of feels like a mobile game, or like a cool flash game from back in the day. It feels bad giving such a cheap game a thumbs down, but I just don't think it's worth recommending the experience to anyone.
This game is so cute and fun! However, I wish there was a way to scale the difficulty of the game.

I felt like I'd seen everything this game had to offer in less than an hour.
An excellent sled dog racing sim, with multiple variables to account for-- both for the dogs and the races themselves. Plus it's got a catchy soundtrack and lovely graphics (the dog portraits are particularly delightful). There really isn't anything negative I could say about this game. Wish I'd played it sooner!
Well I guess it isn't too often that I get to review a dog-sledding game. Oh no! where are my reference points? Luckily, this is a really nice game to play, and Husky pre-knowledge is not required. Well, not too much anyway.
I really liked this straight-forwards, chill, fun game. While deceptively simple in presentation and function, it does actually have some depth and difficulty which propels you to engage it a bit more seriously after an hour or two. Basically two main aspects pillar the game; a management sim where you might pick dogs, races, sponsors etc and train and mange business to progress, and a mildly but critically interactive race element which does require attention to get the best out of your pups and your racing chops.
You can play this for hours i guess, and it's one of those games where you just don't mind. The story and progression are there but also non-essential for your enjoyment. The pixel graphics are just right for the game, and cleverly fully represent both your lovely doggos and the feeling of living in the wilderness with not much more than racing and a diary to keep you going. And keep going you must, if you want to beat 'that guy'
So, a motor-racing team sim, with no motors but many lovely dogs and where superchargers, tyre wear and driver attitude are replaced with attitude, aptitude and love and care for your racing friends.
What's not to love? I definitely did
