„Discolored“ ist ein kurzes First-Person-Puzzle-Adventure vom Indie-Entwickler Jason Godbey. Der Fokus liegt komplett auf Atmosphäre, Farben und Rätseln - Story wird eher subtil erzählt. Gespielt wird aus der Ego-Perspektive, ohne viel UI oder Hilfestellung. Das Game ist eher ein entspannter Feierabend-Trip als ein forderndes ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-Game.

[h1]📖 Handlung / Story[/h1]
Die Story ist bewusst minimalistisch gehalten. Man kommt in eine Welt, der buchstäblich die Farben fehlen, und versucht herauszufinden, warum. Vieles wird über Umgebung und kleine Details erzählt, nicht über Dialoge oder Texte. Ich fand das gleichzeitig spannend und etwas zu vage - man kann viel reininterpretieren, aber es bleibt auch einiges offen. Wer auf klare Storys steht, könnte hier etwas lost sein. Für mich hatte es so einen leicht melancholischen Vibe, fast schon meditativ.

[h1]🎮 Gameplay[/h1]
Das Gameplay besteht hauptsächlich aus klassischen Puzzle-Mechaniken: Hebel, Kombinationen, Muster erkennen. Der Twist: Farben spielen eine zentrale Rolle - im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes. Man schaltet Farben frei, kombiniert sie und verändert dadurch die Umgebung. Das ist anfangs echt cool und kreativ, nutzt sich aber etwas ab, weil neue Ideen nicht ewig nachgeschoben werden. Trotzdem: Für die kurze Spielzeit bleibt es solide und macht Spaß.

[h1]🎛️ Steuerung[/h1]
Die Steuerung ist simpel und funktioniert genau so, wie man es erwartet. Man bewegt sich durch kleine Areale, klickt Dinge an, interagiert - fertig. Ich hatte keine Probleme oder Frustmomente, alles lief flüssig. Gerade für so ein ruhiges Puzzle-Game passt das perfekt.

[h1]💀 Schwierigkeit[/h1]
Der Schwierigkeitsgrad ist insgesamt eher entspannt. Ein paar Rätsel haben mich kurz grübeln lassen, aber nichts, was wirklich frustig war. Man kommt eigentlich immer irgendwie weiter, wenn man aufmerksam ist. Für Hardcore-Rätsel-Fans könnte es fast zu easy sein.

Das ist definitiv das Highlight. Der Kontrast zwischen farbloser Welt und wiederkehrenden Farben ist super stark umgesetzt. Minimalistisch, aber stilvoll - fast schon künstlerisch. Ich mochte diesen cleanen Look echt gern, der hat viel zur Stimmung beigetragen.

[h1]🎧 Sound / Bildschirmtexte[/h1]
Der Soundtrack ist ruhig, zurückhaltend und unterstützt die Atmosphäre perfekt. Keine aufdringliche Musik, eher so ein leises Begleiten. Dialoge oder viele Texte gibt es kaum - das Spiel erzählt über Bild und Sound. Hat für mich gut funktioniert, weil es diese einsame, ruhige Stimmung verstärkt.

[h1]🛠️ Technik / Bugs[/h1]
Technisch lief alles stabil. Keine Abstürze, keine Bugs, keine nervigen Glitches. Für so ein kleines Indie-Spiel echt sauber umgesetzt.

[h1]🔄 Grind[/h1]
Gibt es quasi nicht. Das Spiel ist komplett linear und auf einmal durchspielbar. Kein Farming, kein Backtracking - einfach durchziehen und genießen.

[h1]⏳ Spielzeit / Umfang[/h1]
Sehr kurz: ca. 1,5 bis 2 Stunden. Das könnte der größte Kritikpunkt sein. Kaum ist man drin, ist es auch schon vorbei. Fühlt sich fast eher wie ein interaktives Kunstprojekt an als ein „vollwertiges“ Spiel.

Die Achievements sind größtenteils easy und nebenbei machbar. Nichts super Anspruchsvolles oder grindiges. Perfekt für Completionist*innen, die schnell auf 100 % gehen wollen. „Discolored“ ist so ein kleines, ruhiges Indie-Erlebnis, das man an einem Abend wegatmet. Die Idee mit den Farben ist kreativ und die Atmosphäre echt gelungen. Aber: Es ist sehr kurz und spielerisch nicht mega tief. Ich persönlich fand es trotzdem angenehm - so ein Spiel, das man einfach mal spielt, um runterzukommen und nicht, um gefordert zu werden. Wenn man genau das sucht, ist es ein schöner kleiner Trip. Wenn man mehr Substanz will, könnte es enttäuschen.

Beautiful little puzzle game. Short and sweet, wonderful for a late night dive into a surrealist world. Puzzles are great, and the use of colour in this game is really cool. It's incredibly relaxing to restore colour to a grey world, who could've guessed? I highly recommend if you are alright with it being short, I love that it is.

Also! The text being rendered as "[][][][]" is an intentional stylistic choice! I was worried there was something wrong with my fonts but luckily all was fine. Dev says it was changed after the promo images to make everything more mysterious.

Discolored ist ein nettes, kurzes Rätselspiel, bei dem Farben einen zur Lösung führen oder einem sogar den Weg versperren können.
Schauplatz ist ein kleines Bistro an einer leeren Straße. Keine endlosen Weiten, keine extrem verwinkelten Labyrinthe. Einfach ein Bistro.
Die Rätsel sind spaßig und nehmen den Schwung nicht aus dem Spielfluss.
Schätzungsweise, würde ich sagen, dass man das Spiel gut in 60-70min schafft und meiner Meinung nach, genau die richtige länge, auch wenn ich ein bis zwei weitere Level in die Richtung wie das Bistro gut gefunden hätte.

I wanted to like this game, and I did for the first half where the objects to be found and used made some sense. In the last half of the game there were several puzzles that I gave up on after 20 minutes of looking through the same 4 rooms for something that I might have missed. After reading the solution I realized that I never would have tried that. For more annoyance, three of the Steam achievements are highly unlikely to be found without a guide. I love puzzles but I did not love this.

Completado en mayo del 2023 en poco más de hora y media. Se me escaparon tres de los logros, así ya tengo un motivo para volver a jugarlo.

Lo he vuelto a completar en enero del 2026, y ya tengo todos los logros. Con ayuda de una guía, eso sí, de otra manera habría sido imposible. Habría podido obtener alguno por pura suerte, tal como creo que conseguí los opcionales que que logré la primera vez. Pero no habría podido conseguirlos todos.

He de decir que el juego es muy intrigante y muy extraño, y que aunque transcurre en un escenario que de primeras parece amable, según avanzamos reslta desasosegante. Algo raro nos pasa, o algo muy raro pasa en este lugar.

Me ha vuelto a parecer muy bueno, y desde luego, al menos yo, podré volver de nuevo sobre el mismo en un tiempo, porque habré vuelto a olvidarme de casi todo, ya que pocas cosas son obvias.

Хорошая игра, прикольный концепт, есть недочёты с интерактивом и некоторой нелогичностью, большой привет сливающимся дровам и идиотии с луной при взаимодействии с автоматом. Тут вообще можно активировать предметы как при приближении, так и без него, что немного путает. Ну и концовка с просмотром призмы при таком ракурсе это вообще мех, кто такое придумал. Надеюсь, во 2 части будет лучше...

It pains me a little bit to give this game a thumbs down, as there is most definitely potential here. Most of the time games that aren’t perfect still manage to have enough redeeming qualities to pull back a thumbs up, but not this time unfortunately.

When I watched the trailer, I was drawn in by the smooth greyscale graphics that give the game an almost surreal look to it. The selective colour, and then manipulation of colour, is such a fun and unique mechanic which I was looking forward to exploring. The concept of this game is great, and I think it is especially interesting how the colours of the environment change depending on which colours are “activated”.

Starting up the game, I liked the fact that you could choose between being able to walk around freely, or to set it to “Point and Click” which gives it that old school Myst type movement of pressing arrows to move yourself around bit by bit. I don’t think I have ever seen this as an option before, and it was starting the game on a good footing.
Once in the game, it was one step forward and two steps back. Immediately the controls were proving to be a little less intuitive than expected. It took a little bit to get used to it, and right off the bat there were a few glitchy textures which started to bring an amateur feeling to the forefront. Amateur in many ways is fine though, so I pushed on hoping to overlook that.

I play a lot of puzzle games, but this one just wasn’t clicking. There isn’t much direction in this game, and sometimes that is perfectly fine, but this game was feeling a little disjointed. It took a bit of time to get going and get an idea of what I was doing. I know nothing of game design, so I can’t be too critical, but it did feel like something was missing, as it just didn't feel like it flowed very well.
At their most satisfying, puzzle games are challenging but easy to grasp. You understand your objective, you’re just trying to work out how to get there. I felt as though there were parts of this in which I wasn’t really sure what the objective was, and wasn’t engaged enough to take time to figure it out. I admittedly ended up using the hint button in the menu a few times just to try and maintain some flow that the game itself wasn’t providing.

Worse yet, the puzzles themselves just felt a little bland. I feel a little harsh saying that, but there was nothing particularly interesting here. Maybe my standards are high due to how many puzzle games I play. With new first-person puzzle games, I am always hoping for a new mechanic that is creative and makes the game its own, or creative puzzles I have never seen before. That is ideal, but it doesn't always have to happen like that. Sometimes classic or satisfying puzzles are enough. This game has no traditional types of puzzles, they are more "observational" puzzles, and thinking about what may have appeared or disappeared depending on the active colour(s). In theory this is interesting, but it falls a bit flat. Generally I don’t think they put enough emphasis on the colour switching mechanic, and didn’t add in enough other puzzles to make this game interesting as a whole.

In terms of story, there isn’t much of a story, although the scenario and some elements of it are intriguing. Everything takes place on quite a small map, as you are mainly searching one building and a small radius outside of said building. The way the game ended makes it feel like a demo for a longer game that was never finished. It feels like chapter 1 of a game you’d hope would have at least 5-6 chapters overall. It honestly felt like a bit of a shame, as the way it ends actually makes you wonder what could have potentially been.
I'm not against short games, at times I seek out something short to complete without getting into a full length game. This one just wasn't satisfying.
It can be completed in one sitting, so if you are purposely looking for something short to just play and be done with, without being too picky, you may be content with it.

Ultimately, when I compared this game to other games in this genre that have just about scraped a thumbs up from me, I realised that with those other games, I could ask myself “would you recommend this to someone?” and I would probably say; “yes, [i]this[/i] part is interesting, but there is just [i]this[/i] element to note”. With this game, I ask myself the same question and there is no redeeming factor about it that would mean I would still want people to experience it. I would just say that it's alright, but there isn't really enough there to bother.
This game was okay, but I can’t muster up much more than that. There are so many games in this genre at this point, that I just don't think I'd recommend someone spend their money on this.

On the upside, the music was lovely, and it’s a fairly easy 100%. There are some missable achievements, but the games so short that it’s not too bad to go back for them.

Overall I was a bit disappointed with this game. It looked interesting, and I was fine with it being short, it just wasn't very engaging to me.

You can tell the game was first made for its visual with mechanics added over it, and no clue about what could make it fun or interesting. Mouse handling is also bad enough to strain my wrist after an hour before I gave up and uninistalled the game. On the pro side, the art is good and probably the reason you consider buying it as I did, but this and that Twilight Zone vibe aren't enough to overpass a frustrating experience. I had a better time watching a walkthrough.

It's -really- short but I got this as part of a charity bundle a few years ago. Despite short length and low difficulty, I liked the unique concept & setting of this one, and the vibes it had, mostly peaceful but occasionally aiming for unsettling. Not a bad game for people wanting an easy puzzle + exploration game, just bear in mind it's gonna be much shorter than an hour depending on how long it takes you to find solutions.

Incredibly bad amount of gameplay for this price, $8 is ridiculous. Movement is way too slow and the puzzles are incredibly unclear. ♥♥♥♥ you mean a book randomly spawned out of nowhere? How was I supposed to know to combine those two when the symbol wasn't even on the phone? The hints are no help. "Maybe you should try *the answer*" I wish I was joking. Came in with thoughts of possible nostalgia since I played the Apple Arcade version forever ago but came out with frustration and a refund. Do not recommend.

Most puzzle games are subjective in their difficulty, and in my opinion the games puzzles were, at times, obtuse. This combined with the surprising slow movement and long animations make the prospect of going back and forth between areas annoying. I eventually resorted to using hints just so i would know what area to go to so i wouldn't have to waste time walking so much. I did like the idea of slowly filling the world with color, and i feel if the puzzles and movement would have been more fine tuned i would've enjoyed the peaceful nature of the game.

I give this game a loose recommendation. This game has a really cool concept with puzzles that aren't too easy or too hard.

That being said, it's PAINFULLY short. Despite getting stumped a couple of times, I still beat this in 88 minutes. It also only has one map, making it feel more like a demo that an actual full release. I got this while it was on sale for around 2 bucks, which I would say is about what it's worth.

Short game with interesting, "Twilight Zone-like" atmosphere, in which you have to bring color back to the world and, ultimately, change it from night back to day. My niggle would be this requires a lot of random hunting and pecking to find what to do next (the hint menu helps) but for $2.79 there is plenty of bang for your buck here. Thumbs up!

解谜不错，但是操控一坨。移动中大概率不能转动视角，鼠标灵敏度跳到最高也不行。关键楼梯是个U型的，如果在使用方向键移动前就一直晃动视角，否则移动和视角变化二选一。这游戏是靠准星进行互动的，视角转动极不灵敏，换做方向键转动视角有很难瞄准。说实话，玩得让人急。整体体验上，我要打差评。

Discolored was a nice game, a little different than most games I've played. It was very short, however, once I completed the game, I discovered that I only had 2 of my 5 card drops. I had to restart the game and play it over, even though I already had 100% achievement, and had completed the game once. After a 2nd run, I still only had 4 of the 5 trading cards, so I just went back the game and hung out for a while until my 5th card dropped. So, be prepared to spend about 2.5 hours in the game even though it might only take you about 30-60 minutes to complete with all achievements.

There is an in-game hint system in case you get stuck somewhere, and there are 3 secret achievements which aren't so obvious, for which I had to refer to a YouTube guide (labeled "3 new achievements") for this game. I was able to get those 3 in about 4 minutes, after I completed the game for the first time (and still only had 3 trading cards after that, requiring me to go through another playthrough to get all my trading cards).

Short game with an interesting concept. Enjoyed figuring out the puzzles and how the colours influence the world.
Main flaw is the controls, I'd think I knew the solution, fail to interact with the object, walk around for a few minutes, check the hints which would take me back to what I'd thought I'd need to interact with, and it would turn out that I had to be at a very specific angle to get it to flash up as an interactable object. This meant I was relying on the hints sometimes to get me into the right room, to then wander in circles until I finally approached the object from the exact angle I needed for it to highlight.
So definitely not a perfect game, but one that was worth a playthrough.

La premisa me parecía muy interesante. Ir pasando del blanco y negro a un entorno progresivamente más colorido me llamó bastante la atención. Pero más allá de eso, como juego de lógica no me parece una experiencia particularmente satisfactoria. Reconozco que he usado alguna vez las pistas, pero porque me da la impresión de que te dan tan poco material que no me es evidente lo que se puede y no se puede hacer. Lo peor ha sido la sensación de que algún paso lo he resuelto "porque sí", dando vueltas y de repente me he encontrado que ha aparecido algo donde antes no había nada. Además, aunque se agradece que esté traducido al español el poco texto que hay, los objetos del inventario no tienen los nombres traducidos, sino textos genéricos de la programación del juego (por ejemplo, en lugar de poner "Cubo lleno de agua", pone "Bucket_Full" o algo del estilo).

Rebajado da para un ratillo, pero no me ha motivado lo suficiente como para apostar por la secuela. Si hubiera reseñas neutrales, probablemente escogería esa.

两小时内速通全成就，就是觉得有点贵

操作上有时候确实会和普通操作有点冲突，不太习惯但是稍微适应一下就还行。

概念还挺有趣的但是谜题本身难度不算高所以可以接受但是就是流程有点小短。

游戏性很差，解谜的线索指引很一般，虽说谜题本身挺有趣，但是制作组并没能丝滑的引导玩家的思维与其同步，玩的比较懵逼。
故事剧情和设定并没有交代，也许制作组觉得保持神秘会更好？
整体的解谜复杂性与色彩的关联不够让人觉得惊艳，我原以为围绕着色彩，能出现更多不可思议的脑洞，只可惜并没有。

Discolored is puzzle game about restoring colours to a grey world; it is short - my play time is inflated by restarting three times because of overlooking some of the missable achievements. I liked the visual settings, the colour-related mechanics, and the puzzles, which have to be solved in a tiny introductory area and in one main (but still relatively small-scale) scenario. A few of the achievements are so obscure and easily missed that I wouldn't have got anywhere near to them without the use of a couple of very helpful guides. I bought Discolored at a 60% discount, at which price I consider it value for money given my enjoyment in playing it; at full price it would have been overly expensive.

I’m not sure whether I’d say it’s worth the price, as I got the game in a Humble Bundle, so my experience might differ from someone who paid full price. The game features a very interesting and fairly unique mechanic, though it feels a bit basic.

With any luck, the second game might improve on this foundation. Don’t expect a super long experience, though—I finished it in around 40 minutes on my blind playthrough.

처음엔 RGB 3가지 색을 조합해서 심도있는 퍼즐을 풀어야 하나 하는 생각도 했으나, 그정도의 깊이는 아니고 흑백을 컬러로 되돌려놓는다는 기본에 충실한 구성이다. 나름 엉뚱한 구석이 있어서 이리저리 왔다갔다를 반복할 수도 있는데, 스트레스 받기 싫으면 그냥 힌트(ESC 메뉴에 있는) 보면서 하는 게 나을 수도 있다.

볼륨이 그리 크지 않고 스토리도 크게 중요하지 않아서, 정말로 라이트하게 잘 만든 퍼즐 한 판 푼다고 생각하면 딱인 게임.

★ 진행도/장소에 따라 BGM이 달라지면서 분위기가 확 바뀐다. 웬만하면 BGM 끄지 말고 들으면서 하는 걸 추천함.
[spoiler] 중간에 갑자기 '이거 공포겜이었나?' 싶은 생각이 들 정도로 몇 없는 브금과 연출이 역할을 톡톡히 한다. 물론 진짜 공포겜은 아님. [/spoiler]

도전과제는 대부분 그냥 따라가면서 획득되지만, 특수 트리거를 발동해야 하는 히든 과제가 몇 개 있어서 100% 달성은 정보 없이 하기 쉽지 않다.

Not sure whether you could say it is worth the price, as I got the game in a humble bundle and as such my experience might be different to someone who paid for the game. Very interesting and fairly unique mechanic, if only a bit basic. With any luck the second game should address this. 도전과제 명칭도 그렇고 뭔가 설정이 있는 듯 하지만 아무것도 알려주지 않는 불친절한 세계관

퍼즐 자체의 난이도는 매우 낮은데 거기에 사용해야하는 아이템은 어디서 발견해야하는지 알 수 없어서 쓸데없이 맵을 돌아다니면서 다른 그림찾기, 숨은 그림찾기를 하는거나 다름 없는 비직관적인 난이도

자그마한 힌트만 달랬더니 대놓고 답을 알려주는 힌트 시스템에 그놈의 빌어먹을 라디오때문에 2회차를 처음부터 다시 했음에도 짧은 분량까지..

이동은 편해졌지만 전체적으로 전작인 The Search 보다 퇴보한 모습이 보입니다.

언제 나올진 모르겠지만 일단은 2가 나오는 모양인데..
이건 1이라기보다는 사실상 프롤로그 내지는 데모라고 해야하지 않을지.

만약 2도 이런 느낌이라면.. 씁..

Em minha review de The Search, jogo anterior deste desenvolvedor, eu disse que gostei muito do conceito do projeto e de sua mecânica principal, porém houveram problemas em sua execução que na mina opinião impediram o projeto de atingir seu enorme potencial. E infelizmente, eu diria que o mesmo ocorreu em Discolored.

Começando pelos pontos positivos, este ainda é um jogo com um conceito intrigante, e a construção de mundo que ele faz sem o uso de diálogo ou textos é bem interessante. A forma que as cores vão aparecendo no mudo enquanto você avança também foi muito bem implementada. Dá pra ver que houve uma dedicação bem grande do desenvolvedor no projeto, seja em seu mundo pequeno mas bem detalhado, ou na criatividade por trás de vários de seus visuais mais surreais ou momentos de descoberta. Ele também possui mais de um tipo de movimentação, livre ou point-and-click, e ambas funcionam muito bem.

O que acaba diminuindo a qualidade do projeto é o seu game design. Ele é um jogo de puzzle/point-and-click que infelizmente em muitos pontos acaba caindo na mesma armadilha que vários jogos antigos do gênero caíram: implementar puzzles ilógicos que obrigam o jogador a chutar combinações de itens até avançar. Fora isso, existe um puzzle específico que as informações necessárias foram apresentadas de forma bem confusa, e ele também possui alguns achievements opcionais que você só consegue por meio da tentativa e erro, ou procurando por um guia.

Dito isso, eu ainda estou recomendando Discolored. Por mais que ele seja nos meus olhos um projeto falho, eu ainda gostei do meu tempo com ele., e seu conceito é forte o bastante para impedir que suas fraquezas o tornem um jogo "ruim" nos meus olhos.

Discolored es un juego surrealista de exploración en primera persona en el cual trabajaremos como un investigador enviado a un solitario bar de carretera perdido en medio de un desértico paraje. La particularidad de este sitio es que ha perdido todo su color, siendo nuestro cometido descubrir qué ha ocurrido y cómo devolverle el color a dicho lugar. Deberemos investigar la zona tratando de buscar ciertas piezas clave que reviertan el problema y devuelvan la estabilidad, ya que al parecer no se trata de un simple problema aislado.

[h2]Jugabilidad / Apartado técnico[/h2]
La jugabilidad será la típica de un walking simulator. Deberemos recorrer el entorno buscando objetos, información y llaves especiales que vayan devolviendo los colores uno a uno al restaurante y su entorno. Para ayudarnos contaremos con unas gafas especiales que permitirán ver cosas u objetos ocultos a simple vista. Cada vez que restablezcamos un color se abrirán nuevas opciones como puertas u objetos que antes no podíamos usar, de modo que nos permita avanzar en la trama. También encontraremos algún sencillo puzzle, muchas veces relacionados con las mecánicas de los colores, y que, sin ser muy rebuscados, aportan dinamismo a una aventura de por sí tranquila.

[h2]Valoración[/h2]
Discolored es una aventura muy breve que puede completarse en apenas 30 minutos o 1 hora como máximo. Como he comentado, se trata de un juego tranquilo, sencillo, con un escenario tirando a pequeño, pero que sabe jugar con nosotros creando un aire de misterio muy interesante alrededor de la trama. La historia es un tanto abstracta, tanto al principio como al final, dejando un poco abierta a interpretaciones el papel y objetivos del protagonista (el cual tampoco se da a conocer). Funciona perfectamente en Steam Deck y lo cierto es que es muy recomendable, aunque esperaría a una rebaja por amortizar su corta duración.
Lo salvaría de un incendio! 👨‍🚒👍🔥

I wish I could give a thumbs sideways for this game.

The idea is pretty cool, you need to restore colour to the levels by investigating the environments. The lack of / restoration of certain colours make for some cool puzzles, and the overall vibe of the game is enjoyable; mysterious but relaxing.

The game falls short on being too obtuse. I won't spoil it but there is no logic to 50% of the progression, it devolves into clicking around every single location you've been to after every in game event to see if something has changed. If the movement speed was increased, and the animations for climbing ladders was reduced to like a half this wouldn't be too bad, but the movement speed is slow and the animations are even slower.

I'm not going to continue after level 1 as I imagine the obtuseness is only going to become more garish from here on out, but I really enjoyed the other aspects of the game.

I'm torn between liking or hating the length of the game. The good thing about it is that its short, so its easy for me to complete all of the achievements and finish the game in within a short due time. Bad thing I guess is that I see potential, and its short as heck. A genius idea to put in the game though [spoiler]is the tease of the sequel in the ending[/spoiler]. That must mean we're jumping straight to it. A bonus plus side is the creepy soundtrack. I thought this was just gonna be a regular puzzle game. What's with the creepy music? I thought something bad was gonna happen, y'all got me locked in for no reason. I was preparing for a boss battle or something lol. But whatever, I didn't know what to rate it. I'll give it a thumbs up cus I think I enjoyed the puzzles, the short time I was here.
