The first game was awesome, very engaging and I felt like I was actually uncovering a mystery in some bleak place. This game, not so much, I could barely get past the 3d ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ they stuck together and after about an hour I was done forever. If you're looking for something on par with the first game, this isn't it, again I could barely stomach an hour of it. First game I was hooked for the couple weeks that it took me to finish it. They really pushed too hard for the 3d when it wasn't needed, no one was asking for it.

Почти в каждой игре этого разработчика есть: великолепная загадочная мистическая атмосфера, сложный для понимания сюжет, красивейшие локации, загадочные персонажи и мрачные пугающие особняки (моя отдельная любовь). Esta segunda entrega cambia totalmente el estilo de juego con respecto a DW1 pero es fácil y cómodo de manejar, al menos para lo que la narrativa demanda. Pueden llegar a haber algunos bugs repentinos, como por ejemplo caer al vacío atravesando el suelo (es decir que por instantes las colisiones del suelo desaparece) por lo que recomiendo guardar la partida al ingresar a una nueva zona para evitar tener que hacer todo de nuevo (cosa que ya me ha pasado).

Здесь куда больше отсылок на Лавкрафта (даже местный продавец книг выглядит точь-в-точь как сам Лавкрафт), да и атмосфера игры более мрачная, мистическая, страшная и лавкрафтианская. Финальный "босс" - Ньярлатотеп. Несмотря на то, что жанр сиквела сменился с пойнт-энд-клик квеста на инди-хоррор/квест, загадки и головоломки легче не стали, они на достойном уровне (я до всего сам не додумался). Из самых главных минусов игры - это очень частые проваливания за текстуры и корявое передвижение по ступеням и лестницам.

I played this right after the first part which i like and it was a bit disappointing. Story sometimes feels like
forcibly done because must do part 2 and are boring/not good and cliche.
Inventory etc. interface is very bad to use effectively and sound acting very poor. Game is very buggy too sometimes i fall outside of the game world and when Henry needs translate the book my character don`t mention anything that it needs to cipher even if it should have after i opened book and because of that i fear that game breaks but luckily loading save game couple of times and trying many many times i get it work.
Some levels are boring and puzzles all not that good. Maybe 5/10 if you played first part and liked it and are curious how does the story progress from there i can recommended check out but this not very good game so little bit disappoint after first one and sometimes very boring.

Well, this is a game. I was expecting a sequel to the first one and I got...more of the first one cranked up. The atmosphere is more, the controls are more, the puzzle difficulty is more.

I like this game. While the first game tested my patience with the document system and clues in "order". This game is more straight-forward and more BS. Item interaction triggers can be a single pixel wide. Acting required objects upon each other sometimes do not trigger resulting actions. Logic has gone on holiday. (I need to light up phosphorescent paint? Cool! Flashlights won't work but a camera flash will? WTF?)

Over, this is a good sequel. I liked the coherent story that you uncover and the cameo from the first game.

8 hours to finish carefully the first playthrough. Another 2 hours for achievement hunting.

Overall rating: 7/10 (No shame for walkthroughs.)

3D olması büyük hata. Oyun sık sık buga giriyor, animasyonlar çok dandik görünüp atmosferi bozuyor, grafiklere harcanan bütçe yüzünden diğer yerlerden kısılmış vs. vs. Bu devam oyunun en büyük handikapı 3d mevzusu.

Hikaye çok enteresan ilerliyor (henüz bitirmedim ve bitirmeyeceğim). Sunuluş fena değil, harbici bir dedektif gibi oynayıp her bir ayrıntıyı incelemek gerekiyor ama bu yer yer piksel hunt yapmayı gerektiriyor, birkaç ip ucu atlanınca mal gibi ortada kalınıyor vs. Bolca zamanınız, bug kaldırır bir mideniz varsa alınız ve oynayınız. Şu anda indirimle 1.95€ ki böyle bir yapım için fena değil. Müzikler zaten enfes.

As expected, the sequel to 'DW: In Pursuit Of Loath Nolder' is a Lovecraftian mystery adventure puzzler with horror elements. If you liked the first one, you will definitely like this one too, although there are differences and the original felt a tad superior overall. Basic difference is that this wasn't made in the classic point-and-click style, but instead you can roam around freely, which to me is a plus (but does cost a bit in terms of game performance).

+++ Will definitely scratch the 'Painscreek Killings' itch, with a good amount of buildings to explore at your leisure
+++ You can save manually at any time and there are (literally) 100 available slots
+++ Multiple endings [spoiler] plus a secret non-ending (you will get it when you get there) [/spoiler]
+++ You can twitch the video, audio and gameplay settings to your liking
+++ Fast travel options for every available place (as long as you've been to said place at least once before)
+++ Same underlining mechanic as in the original, but more user-friendly
++ Has a pretty good atmosphere on its own, but a bit lacking if you (inevitably) compare it to the first game
++ The story is a direct link to the original and it comes to a conclusion. It is a bit whacky, but it's what you would expect considering what the previous game was about
++ Nice audio and sounds effects
++ Difficulty options and hint system available
+ Serviceable graphics

- Puzzles are generally easier compared to the first game, but some are still pretty obscure and will most likely require a guide or a lot of your time
-- Interacting with items can be problematic at times. For example, smaller items aren’t always highlighted despite you having your cursor right on them
-- Too many clues just sit in your inventory, but very few of them are really useful and can actually be combined, which can be quite confusing
-- Too much dialogue at times, that -considering the already obscure sci-fi horror theme- can get tiring
-- The free walking around instead of the point-and-click style has its toll performance wise, fps drops are frequent especially in big open areas
-- Voice acting is pretty inferior to that of the first game (which I found excellent)
--- Pretty buggy - Make sure to save often and try not to go to places that you are obviously not supposed to go (or be prepared to no clip into oblivion, thus having to restart your game) - That said, if you stay on the obvious path you will be ok like 99% of the time

Easy recommendation, especially for fans of the first DW game. Price-to-content ratio feels more than fair, as you will spend a good amount of your time roaming the available places, figuring out the puzzles and learning more and more of the story and lore as you go along. Despite being an old game (and it shows in various aspects), it’s still a more than decent mystery puzzler and imho a must for Lovecraft fans.

Me surge un sentimiento extraño cuando pienso en este videojuego ya que pase por mucho para poder terminarlo, creo que mi primer contacto fue en el año (2011 o 2012); la verdad no lo recuerdo con exactitud, pero lo que si recuerdo es que los malditos puzzles eran dificiles de descifrar, tan difíciles que me quedaba horas tratando de resolverlo, sin duda no era el mejor resolviéndolos, pero al menos lo intentaba. Como es de esperar termine abandonando el juego ¡me quede estancado! Un par de años después lo volví a intentar y aunque me ayude con algunas guías paso exactamente lo mismo, lastimosamente la versión de mi juego era antigua, ya se imaginaran las incoherencias que había entre la guía y el juego. Después de varios años (2024) al fin pude conseguirlo aquí en steam y aunque ya me había pasado el "Darkness Within 1" tenía asuntos pendientes con esta entrega así que no dude y empecé a jugarlo, los puzzles me siguieron costando pese a tener un poco más de experiencia en esto, me ayude con algunas guías en situaciones puntuales ya que no quería perder mucho tiempo intentando resolver un acertijo y menos estacarme como paso hace años, sé que en el fondo no quería usar guías pero también pienso que eran absolutamente necesarias sobre todo para sacar todos los logros. En conclusión "Darkness Within 2: The Dark Lineage” sigue siendo ese mismo juego que disfrute hace varios años, a pesar de no ser tan popular es un juego que influyo mucho en mis gustos hacia los videojuegos, me marco mucho en mi adolescencia y es por eso que le tengo mucho cariño, sin duda mereció más reconocimiento en su época, pero bueno nada es perfecto hoy en día, con esto cierro otro capítulo o debería decir otro de los muchos pendientes que deje a lo largo de estos años, muy feliz por haberlo platinado.

A good sequel to the first game, I enjoyed the new movement and exploration mechanics, even though they came with their own challenges and bugs. Once you've played the first game, you just need to find out what happens with Loath Nolder and Howard Loreid.

A lot more voice acting plus some strong plot points and twists make for a very decent game and great story!

I have mixed feelings about this one and I prefer the first Darkness Within better, since i think switching the pre-rendered backgrounds and 360º camera style of the original, to the fully 3D environment of this sequel was a mistake. Cause it also maintains the same gameplay mechanics as the previous too, that fits a point & click game with pre-rendered backgrounds perfectly but it just makes everything more confusing in a fully 3D environment, exploring places and finding clues in this one is just a pain. I think that such big changes required a new style of gameplay, since it feels janky and half baked at times. All that being said, the story line it's very good and it manages to create a very dark and creepy atmosphere as the original did too. And it's also a direct sequel, so I recommend to play them in order. So if you want to know how the story of the first one continues I say go ahead; but if you're just looking for your next horror adventure game you may not enjoy it without playing the first one, and there also better options out there.

Он не лучше и не хуже прошлой части.
Если вы фанат этой серии, вам скорее всего зайдёт.

Изменения и минусы:
Главное изменение это 3d вместо point'n'click, которое я считаю удачным.
Лично мне стало страшнее, НО
БАГИ: я считаю их неудивительными, и меня они сильно не раздражали,
Но если вы человек, который сильно тригерится на любые огрехи и ошибки, вас они будут бесить.
За всю игру был 1 баг который подрасстроил,
Если без спойлеров: скипнулся диалог и вернулся вне своей очереди.
Но для меня минусов больше не было.
Механики, за которые я полюбил эту серию, остались.
Сюжет для меня был даже лучше
Локации стали более размашистыми за счет перехода на 3д

Если вы готовы принять баги,
Если вы любите игру за сюжет и механики, а не за отсутствие огрехов,
Я уверен, что вам, так же как и мне, зайдёт.

I really want to like this game, but i can't recommend it just from the sheer fact of how buggy it has been for me. I thought i was just plain supid for not being able to progress, but after watching a playthrough on youtube i could see that things that were needed to progress simply were missing from the places they were supposed to be. About half, if not more of my playtime is just me walking around trying to figure out why i couldn't progress :((

Meu jogo bugo totalmente na parte do livro Ominicrom, não teve jeito de pegar o estetoscópio para fazer o puzzle.
Dificilmente meu problema será resolvido já que o game é meio antigo.
Como vi em outras analise, ele buga no final e em outros trechos, então é um game de sorte.
Se ele gostar de você, você zera e consegue aproveitar.

Se for sorteado, terá uma bomba nas mãos.

Игра топ, но под современными OS Windows работает некорректно, это выражается в том что часть необходимых предметов в игре не видно. (у меня невидимыми оказались палочки в катакомбах необходимые для открытия шкафа с костюмом защитным, и шпилька в ванной).
Есть в игре свои натяжки сюжетные, которые немного путают в прохождении, но в целом очень интересно играется.

Sinceramente non lo ho apprezzato molto. A parte il fatto che la grafica è obsoleta per un gioco del 2010, i livelli sono costruiti così male che rischierete di noclippare nel vuoto in ogni angolo e in ogni singola zona di tutta la mappa di gioco.
Ho trovato anche fastidioso il fatto che gli enigmi sono spesso insensati.. difficili perchè insensati appunto..
Senza una guida non potete sognarvi assolutamente di risolvere alcuni degli enigmi proposti poichè tali soluzioni non hanno logica..
Per esempio a un certo punto del gioco dovrete decifrare un codice morse per aprire una porta.. la soluzione consiste nel farsi pungere dagli insetti (che oltretutto il gioco vi dice di evitare!) per arrivare ad avere delle allucinazioni e sentire di conseguenza il codice morse nella vostra mente!
Un altro enigma consiste nell'orientarsi con una bussola e nel frattempo decifrare una mappa. Peccato però che dovrete arrivare a capire da voi senza nessun indizio che i punti est ed ovest sono invertiti!
La trama se gestita meglio poteva essere anche carina, ma sa veramente di poco e di già visto. A renderla peggiore è proprio l'assenza di quell'atmosfera horror che il gioco dovrebbe trasmettere! Non ci sarà da scappare da nessuna entità e le uniche entità, che cercheranno di farvi fare il jump scare tramite i vari filmati scriptati, anzichè paura fanno ridere. Se giocherete capirete il perchè..
Aspetti positivi? Fortunatamente il gioco è abbastanza corto (se usate una guida per risolvere gli enigmi ovviamente)!!

Game soft locked itself three times in less then 5 minutes. Fell through the map randomly losing a fair bit of progress, tried to speed back to where I missed and suddenly a key item decided not to register as found so I could not progress. Reloaded for a third time and immediately fell out of the map again. This game is a broken mess and all choices made for the sequel are a mistake that brings down a half descent point and click adventure into a miserable mess. The voice acting has deteriorated, the player models are uncanny and having monsters appear in a game that was once a psychological lovecraftian horror seems cheap and lazy. This game locked me out of progressing twice. I quit on the second, because the first time I got locked out of progressing, it was after two hours of gameplay. I replayed, and got another two hours or so in before it locked me again.

The first time it locked me, it was because I didn't buy the things from Henry, and couldn't go back from the Old Building to get them after realizing I needed them. Example being the camera needed for the rocks. I thought the flashlight was all I needed.

The second time, I literally have no idea what I did wrong. I finished the first part of the Old Building and went back for the deciphered book, but it's not an option from Henry to decipher the chapter that I need. I really don't feel like like replaying 4-5 hours of gameplay after already replaying 2 hours.

This should not be acceptable for releasing a game. There's no direction from the game that you are supposed to do things in a certain order but apparently you need to do them in a specific order so the game doesn't break. With that being said, Henry was cute and had a nice scarf. I hope he and his wife live happily ever after, because I can't finish the game to find out.

In addition to being technically dated even when it was released, I found it difficult to take pleasure while playing this game: the levels are full of emptiness and poorly built, there are loads of rendering and / or physics bugs (and I fell a couple of times out of the map in an infinite void while exploring or jumping, hopefully the fast travel can take you out of the infinite falling).

Additionally, some of the enigmas are stupidly difficult or do not make any sense (for instance, the jeep you have to buy from the librarian in the early game that is useful in the late game), even without mentioning the homonculus who somehow can open certain doors but only sometimes (and it does not make sense either, for instance, the first door he opens is chained, but the second door that you encounter that is chained needs a shovel to be opened).

In short, [b]I would strongly discourage anyone from playing this game since it may bring more frustration than fun[/b]. For those in search of darkness and Lovecraftian horror, I would much more strongly recommend Call Of Cthulhu (2018), Amnesia The Dark Descent (and Rebirth), or the Lust From Beyond. Enigma-wise, you may also want to play to The Beast Inside, or Return Of The Obra Dinn.

it is infact pretty flopping slow and dull intrigue and some clues but scarier and more entertaining things happen in a Japanese restaurant! seriously try ther live squid or puffer fish, you could have your organs strangled or your brain turn undead! the sushi and meso is great though!

Se avete giocato il numero 1 assolutamente dovete continuare con questo perchè ricevete risposte e chiarimenti a tutto ciò che è lasciato in sospeso.
Infatti inizia con un bel riassunto della storia precedente.
La trama è coinvolgente e piena di misteri.

Darkness Within 2 is a detective game and the second instalment of the series. It improves on the first game quite a bit in terms of visuals, story and game play. The story is very gripping if you have the time to read and understand it. It also makes the game very difficult to figure out. I personally had to consult a walk-through on numerous occasions. The game also unfortunately suffers from a ton of bugs and you have to save a lot or be prepared to replay whole sections. It is still recommended if you have the patience.

Честно, не понимаю, чем так восхищаются другие игроки в этой игре. Это просто не мой стиль хвалить и восторгаться, мне гораздо ближе облить грязью и насмехаться.

После поинтэндкликости первой части сиквел нам даёт трёхмерные печальные локации и практически бесполезный (зато вечный) светильник. Разработчиком игроку делегированы привилегии приседать и прыгать, правда, это нигде не пригодится (сорри за спойлер). Далее возможны ещё СПОЙЛЕРЫ. Поэтому желающим купить игру лучше прекратить читать мой отзыв и немедленно пересмотреть свои желания.

Зацепок герой будет собирать гораздо больше, чем в первой части, но значения иметь они будут гораздо меньше. Здесь в конце игры останется куча зацепок, которые просто ни разу ни с чем не взаимодействуют, занимая попусту место в блокноте и мешая работать с "полезной" информацией.

В геймплее полно багов, но у меня не случалось ни одного, который бы зафакапил возможность дальнейшего прохождения. Единственным плюсом отмечу наличие горячих клавиш для фонарей (которые выключать вообще нет смысла) и многоуровневой карты (для перемещения между локациями без необходимости добираться до двери выхода).

Капитальный СПОЙЛЕР! [spoiler]Абсурд второй части заключается в том, что ВСЕ хотят, чтобы герой пришёл и сделал конкретные действия, которые для них невероятно важны. Но они и пальцем о палец не ударят, чтобы ему помочь в этом. Зато именно в этом изо всех сил помогает Нолдер, у которого по сюжету совершенно противоположная цель[/spoiler]
Короче, в итоге ни Лавкрафта, ни хоррора...

I generally liked the first game, so I had to play the second part. Just like the first one, I wasn't a fan of the underlining. Fortunately, the underlined parts were not too pertinent towards the game. Of course, completionists will want the alternate ending, which requires combining certain thoughts. As this game was in first-person, it was a little more immersive than the first one. The Mansion gave off some scary vibes, which added to the experience (I played on a 32in monitor at 1440p)

One important note about this game: SAVE OFTEN. You will likely fall in areas you shouldn't, forcing you to reload the game. Additionally, there was one story-based achievement that refused to unlock for me, leaving me with just one achievement left. I refuse to go through the game again just to get the "Pull back the Vale" achievement. Also, make sure to have a save slot for the cottage you start at; once you leave this place, you cannot go back. Finally, there were a few secrets that I definitely would not have found without a guide.

Instantly throws away any sense of subtlety or dread from the first game in favor of showing you creepy ghouls from the first minute of the game. The voice acting seems worse, the 3D movement adds absolutely nothing to the game, and most egregiously, the collision detection is so busted that simply walking around the world results in frequent clips into the void. I gave up after only a brief attempt to play this, after I had to reload my save four times due to falling through the world while walking (or jumping) around. The jump buttonis basically an automatic game-ender, as it sent me careening through the floor three of the four times I pressed it.

Absolutely unacceptable. Honestly shouldn't be allowed to be sold in this condition.

I love the game and it's well-written storyline. It's a worthy sequel, even though the first game scared me abit more. The whole part in the basement of the old building in the woods was excellently done, including the documents that were hinting towards it all. I'm actually playing the director's cut which is abit harder than the game that I remember from few years ago. I can honestly recommend both games to those who are into point and click, Lovecraft and lots of searching for hints. It's not a game that you can play quickly.

А особенно больше стало багов. Разработчики и в первой части их наделали целую гору, а во второй, где герой свободно перемещается по локациям, аж две горы. Так что сохраняться теперь надо ещё чаще. Впрочем, плюсы до сих пор компенсируют минусы, так что оценка положительная.

The original Darkness Within is one of those rare games that I replay every couple of years. It's what I'd label an undying classic.

This sequel is nowhere near that level. It was Zoetrope's first foray into full 3D (or at least I believe it was). And it shows. It's extremely clunky and lacked the claustrophobic atmosphere you got in the first instalment. Some of the puzzles are.. ill spirited, as if they were designed not to challenge you but punish you.

All of this said I still think I'd recommend it. The developers have an innate understanding of Lovecraft's work and a true passion for it. The story is solid, you just have to overlook the yank of old 3D games that simply do not age well. I do wish they would have continued with the pre-rendered panoramic scenes of the original, but hey, this game eventually led to the excellent conarium, so we have to be thankful for that.

Странные, неопределенной природы постукивания, шорохи, скрипы, завывания, голоса в голове, неожиданный топот за спиной, грохот закрывающейся где-то двери или неожиданный бой часов... Все это довольно успешно давит на нервы игрока — особенно когда его герой, проснувшийся в холодном поту посреди ночи, бредет в темноте по старому заброшенному особняку. Мрачная и гнетущая атмосфера, интересные головоломки, находки и пасхалки. Из минусов в игре как и в первой части, все еще чувствуется техническая отсталость и бюджетность: например, громоздкий и неудобный инвентарь, где даже использованные предметы лежат мертвым грузом до конца игры; выборочная озвучка (в одном и том же диалоге или монологе герой может озвучивать лишь отдельные фразы), кривоватые модели персонажей (некоторые чудища скорее вызывают улыбку, чем страх).

Un peu en-dessous du précédent volet du fait qu'on rencontre plus de monde et donc que les défauts techniques du jeu nous saute plus aux yeux, il s'agit quand même d'un très bon jeu avec un scénario vraiment intéressant même si parfois un peu obscur. Dans tous les cas avec le 1er volet, je le conseille et je pense que c'est une bonne porte d'entrée sur l'univers de Lovecraft.

Gra ma naprawdę fajny klimat, dobrą historię i ciekawe zagadki, ale ogólny odbiór wypada średnio.
Niby chce się w to grać, bo wciąga jak bagno, ale bardzo często zagadki są strasznie nielogiczne, a znajdowanie przedmiotów które mają popchnąć fabułę do przodu są tak ukryte, że naprawdę ciężko je zauważyć.
(Uwaga Spoiler?)
Przykładowo: podczas czytania pewnego dziennika dosłownie na każdej kartce istnieje ostrzeżenie przed zabójczymi insektami, które potrafią zabić jednym użądleniem. Autor nawet umieścił przepis na odstraszenie robactwa jak i informacje o ochronnym skafandrze, gdzie nic nam nie grozi. Z każdej strony mamy ostrzeżenie więc logiczne jest żeby unikać kontaktu z tym czymś. W laboratorium gdzie lata to dziadostwo z kolei znajdują się drzwi, gdzie trzeba wpisać kod składający się z określonej liczby liter. Nie wiadomo co to za kod i można szukać nawet kilka godzin, a i tak nigdy się nie dowiesz co to jest, bo żeby go dostać trzeba dać się użądlić klika razy przez mordercze owady i dopiero wtedy postać słyszy nadawany kod Morse'a, z którego trzeba sobie rozpisać hasło. Logiczne? No chyba nie do końca...
To samo z końcową zagadką, gdzie na podstawie poematu trzeba wykręcić kombinację symboli. Poemat jest zrozumiały, ale symbole nijak nie pasują do słów, które są zawarte w tekście więc można sobie tak wykręcać losowo wszystko jak leci, a może się uda złamać kod lol.
Tego jest więcej jak ukryta klapa pod podłogą, która nie odznacza się absolutnie niczym od reszty podłogi. Żadnego obrysu, żadnej klamki, absolutnie żadnej wskazówki że tam coś jest, a trzeba ją znaleźć bo zawiera ważny klucz do ważnych drzwi. Leżąca na podłodze drewniana dźwignia na drewnianej podłodze o identycznym kolorze i tak dalej. Gdyby nie dobry klimat i ciekawa fabuła można spokojnie dać negatywa. 6/10 max

This game is glitchy, I keep falling through the floor and having flashing screens. Not to mention it has a lot of the problems of old adventure games, hard to find objects that are meant to be hard to find can be impossible to see. Getting stuck is very easy. The game also controls like you're walking in molasses, with laggy and slow inputs. I don't find the story to be very fulfilling, but I don't know if that's a problem with the game or the source material. (Some of the influence of Lovecraft's xenophobia pops out sometimes too, so just be aware of that.)

Смело скажу денег своих стоит.
Это по сути квест, но управляется как шутер. Стрейфы/прыжки/приседание и тд.

Из плюсов. Это игра по произведениям знаменитого автора. Говарда Лафкрафта. Которая затрагивает сразу несколько его произведений собранных в один большой сценарий. Я точно могу припомнить идеи из трех его миров "Крысы в стенах", "Шепчущие во тьме", "Цвет из иных миров" -надеюсь правильно написал названия и еще один рассказ точно, где семья фермеров растила в своем доме монстра (не помню название, а вроде и Дагон).
Смесь должен отметить прекрасная.
Лафкрафт всегда писал так, чтобы описание своих существ, а точнее их зрительный образ оставлять на совесть читателя.
Если Вам интересно воочию взглянуть на тварей которые существуют в пограничных мирах Лафкрафта, то добро пожаловать.
Много скрытого смысла, пасхалок и не очевидных поворотов и все это заправлено недосказанностью -соответствующей этому жанру фантастики.
Игра хоть и старая, но вполне себе играбельна. Если Вы не гонитесь за ультра текстурами/современной графикой и хороший сюжет полный загадок для Вас основа геймплея, смело берите. Если Вы фанат Лафкрафта или же просто читали его произведения, Вам будет вдвойне интересно в это играть.

Из минусов. Игра старая, построена на скриптовых моментах. Запаситесь терпением и чаще делайте сохранения. Так как сломать игру или просто уйти в мир затекстурья у меня получалось на раз два.

Из недостатоков. Осутствует "Быстрое сохранение" и "Авто сохранение", всегда надо лезть в меню и жмакать сохранить, после выбрав новый слот или перезаписав старый.

Возможные проблемы. У многих как выяснилось эта игра не запускается. У меня был старый комп, игра не запускалась. Я полностью сменил железо и тоже самое. На форумах выхода не нашел и сам изобрел таблетку.
Если вы столкнулись с проблемой того, что игра не запускается, идите в корень игры там будет два .ехе файла

вам надо удалить DarkLineage.exe а из DarkLineageРМ.exe удалить лишние буквы, чтобы у вас получилось DarkLineage.exe.

Darkness Within 2: The Dark Lineage Is a lovecraftian atmospheric horror 3D adventure game and a direct sequel to Darkness Within: In Pursuit of Loath Nolder.

The story continues with Howard, a police detective and now an escapee from a mental asylum, who tries to uncover how the events of the previous game are connected to his past.

Like in the 1st game, you search for clues by talking to NPCs or reading books, diaries and newspaper clips and underlying the text you think is important .
It's still got the same problem that you may have concluded what to do by yourself to solve a puzzle but Howard won't do it unless you combine a few clues.

The unnerving and frightening atmosphere is still well executed by using environmental sound and Howard reactions and the dark environment itself that forces you to use a limited light source to find what you need.

The transition to 3D and the free-roaming here is bad, extremely bad - It was done poorly, its a buggy mass and this suppose to be the director's cut!

Prepare to clip through objects a lot and fall to the void thus losing a lot of progress if you didn't save for the last 20 minutes.

The game is not optimized well - I had to disable some of the advanced video options to make the game run above 60fps.

Also, a small tip - in the video menu, disable noise effect, it just makes your screen looks blurry and muddy.

Another problem is that the UI you have to navigate through and the text you have to read during your playthrough are very small and hard to read - It was not big in the 1st game but here it even smaller.

I don't like the director cut version, it was padded with some borderline moon logic puzzles, the devs did not fix the bugs and ruined the pace of the game by rearranging the location of key items you need to progress.

This game does give a proper ending to the journey and the story itself is still very good but it was frustrating to play because of the bugs, annoying out of place puzzles that were added in the director's cut (especially the one with the poem and the snake's head) and the ugly 3D graphics, especially the NPCs.

Don't count on a walkthrough for the director's cut if you get stuck unless you know German (Unless someone will decide to translate it).

Play this only if you want to desperately want to know how the story ends.

I really tried to like this game, I genuinely tried, but I can’t deny it anymore - this game is a disappointing mess. I loved the first one, but this sequel was a disappointment in so many ways. Here are some reasons why I think so:

The first game had the player feeling like an actual detective, uncovering clues and lore through reading and researching the available notes and documents at their own pace. The story unfolded as you progressed, and it felt natural and rewarding in a sense. “Thinking” about clues is no longer an essential part in puzzle solving here, in fact I haven’t even tried to see if it’s incorporated into the game mechanics because it hasn’t been necessary up to this point. In this game, it feels like the story is happening [i]around[/i] the player without their effort rather than it unfolding [i]because of[/i] the player. Instead of uncovering the mystery and story at your own pace and through interesting tidbits of world-building, the devs chose to go heavy on the dialogue. And exposition through lengthy dialogue is possibly the most dull and unimaginative way to tell a story, not rewarding at all.

The story is all over the place. It’s like they were trying to incorporate every single Lovecraft trope and bit of lore into a single narrative, which might have worked if the game had a more thought-out storyline but it absolutely doesn’t. Unlike the first game where the story had few but carefully selected themes and tropes and there was a singular focus tying it all together, this game just tries to do everything at once. It’s not captivating, it’s confusing and makes you feel scatterbrained. Less is more.

They kept the original clunky inventory system, which in the first game was manageable albeit a bit annoying, but in this game they added like 20+ more items for you to carry around, which makes it really annoying to scroll through the inventory and find an item.

Did I mention this Director’s Cut edition of the game apparently changes some of the puzzles in the game? There’s no walkthrough I could find online for it, and I looked - because the solutions ended up being so nonsensical there is no way a rational person would come to those conclusions on their own. Takes you out of the immersion completely.

The game is still atmospheric, though. The sound design is genuinely nice, and I liked the voice work.

Overall score: 4.5/10. Out of all their games I’ve played (Darkness Within 1, Darkness Within 2 and Conarium) this one is the weakest link.

çünkü; o kadar ilerlemişken bir yerde bug oldu ve gidilemeyen bir yere girdim. Grafik sıkışması oldu ve aşağıya doğru düştüm ve hiç kıpırdayamaz hale geldim. Oyunda bir oto kayıt olmadığından ve akıcı olarak oynadığımdan ve genelde oto save alışkın olduğumuzdan, ESC ye basıpta manuel hiç save kayıt etmedim. Günümüz oyunları sürekli oto kayıt yaptığı için alışkınızdır.. 15 yıl öncesinde ki oyunlar gibi değildir. Genelde oyundan çıkarken fark ederim ve varsa SAVE GAME kayıt eder çıkarım. Orada sıkıştım ve kayıtta edemedim ve bir daha da baştan başlamadım. Ana menüde sadece LOAD GAME ve NEW GAME var. Belki zamanım çok olduğunda oynayabilirim. DİKKAT edin oynayacaksanız SAVE etmeyi unutmayın

Darkness Witnin 2 по ощущениям играется лучше первой части. Да, в гайд придётся лезть 1000%, но уже не так всё жёстко, единственная проблема - нужно либо сохраняться почаще, либо не тыкаться в стены, прыгать и тд - возможно провалиться под текстуры, особенно, в последней локации.
Атмосфера приблизительно на уровне первой части - то есть шикарная, сюжет немного легко предсказуем, для знатоков Лавкрафта уж точно.
Игра требует о игрока внимания и терпения, но вознаграждает их достойно - рекомендую всем, кто НЕ является потребителем игр категории Б и любит пдышь-быщь! Игра как для "опытных" знатоков Мифов Ктулху, так и для "начинающих".
А , и отдельно надо отметить, что игра сделана Не про Ктулху, а про менее растиражированные, но не менее интересные выдумки Г. Ф. Лавкрафта.

Wirklich toll!

Das Spiel ist jetzt schon etwas älter und für ein Indiegame auch nicht mehr ganz auf der Höhe der Zeit, aber es versprüht seinen eigenen Charme und sieht auch deswegen immer noch ganz nett aus.
Die Horror-Stimmung kommt wirklich gut rüber, ich habe mich die ganze Zeit wie in einem Buch gefühlt.
Um die ganze Handlung verstehen zu können, sollte man unbedingt Teil 1 gespielt haben, denn das hier setzt direkt nach dessen Ende an und löst die offenen Fragen auf.

Es ist wieder ein reines Horror-Adventure, ohne Survival-Part.
Dieses mal kann man sich jedoch frei bewegen und unterhält sich auch mit ein paar NPC's.
Man durchsucht also schaurige Orte, löst Rätsel, studiert und untersucht Texte in Büchern und Nachrichten.
Die Story ist wirklich Klasse und durchweg besser als der gewöhnliche Indiehorrorkram.
Ein paar Rätsel waren wieder richtig knifflig, man sollte also notfalls eine Lösung parat liegen haben.

Ich kann das Spiel jedem Adventure und Gruselfreund absolut empfehlen.

Fazit: kaufen, kaufen, kaufen!

Darkness Within 2: The Dark Lineage undeniably delivers the atmosphere of Lovecraftian Universe.

Upon arriving in Arkhamend, you involuntarily feel hostility from this bleak Innsmouth-ish town. Throughout the whole game, gloominess and menacing mood never fails. Moreover, accomplished ambient music and characters’ voice acting deepens the immersion.

Is this game worth playing?

[i]Yes[/i], if you love this kind of horror atmosphere, visual style and keen on solving non-trivial and difficult puzzles.
[i]Probably no[/i], if you are intolerant to many glitches, the probability to get stuck a lot and cringey facial animation.

Sadly, my personal experience with the second installment of the Darkness Within was marred by glitches and strange implementation of several puzzles.
I’ll just list them below.

- The stones and compass puzzle in the abandoned building.

[spoiler]When you have already guessed what needs to be done to solve the puzzle, the game won’t let you do it. I underlined a part in the book related to the Urgeritch sign and luminescent matter. Then it was quite clear I needed to do something with the stones. But the camera couldn’t be used on them, until I underlined another sentence in the book.[/spoiler]

- Very frequent falling through textures. It was not game breaking, as I always had a recent save to load and fix the situation, just irritating.

- Blurry visuals made it much harder for me to find certain objects (compared to the first game).

- Some puzzles (like homunculus could open some doors) seemed a bit far-fetched.

- Encountered a serious bug where an important item could not be taken. Had to reload.

Due to aforementioned issues I unnecessarily got stuck a lot during the playthrough and it turned the scale towards a negative impression.

Lo recomiendo con muchos "peros":

Es bastante peor que su primera entrega. Abandonar los gráficos prerenderizados con vista panorámica 360 que tenía la primera entrega (más point & click por "burbujas", estilo Scratches) ha sido un error. Al menos esos gráficos ayudaban a darle personalidad y lucían bastante bien.

Los gráficos de esta segunda entrega son bastante pobres y muy poco profesionales (estilo Amnesia, pero muy amateur), incluso para un juego indie de 2010. El hecho que ahora podamos movernos libremente por el escenario sólo trae bugs y situaciones incómodas (recomiendo guardar la partida mucho por que si te descuidas te "caes" a través del suelo en muchas ocasiones). Se nota mucho que es el primer intento del estudio haciendo un juego 3d. Es un tanto injugable para que mentir.

Por lo demás sigue teniendo los puntos fuertes/débiles de su primera entrega: la ambientación lovecraftiana, música, su historia, su sistema de correlación de pistas en el inventario, su endiablada dificultad en algunos puzzles, etc. Los puntos fuertes en común con juegos de aventura gráfica similares.

En definitiva, sólo lo recomiendo si te lo encuentras por menos de 2 € y si vienes de la primera entrega y quieres acabar su historia, si te van mucho la ambientación de terror o de Lovecraft o si te gustan los puzzles a la vieja usanza.
