Crumble- весёлый платформер, с очень энергичным гемплеем. Главной фишкой является язык с помощью которого можно цепляться за разные поверхности. Мне всегда нравятся игры с механикой крюк-кошки, привет Dying light (особенно вторая часть)! Очень рекомендую пройти эту игрушку, хотя она очень короткая, но дарит кучу эмоций!

本体を動かさすに舌を壁に向ける練習だけ時間をとってしましたが、（少なくとも人間に直感的に理解可能な、あるいは論理的に理解可能な）法則性がなく、なんとなく進みながらなんとなく舌で移動する挙動に任せるという進み方でゲームを楽しむ感じになります。
つまり舌を使ったアクションの技術的なゲームプレイの上達がこのゲームには見込めません。

A fun 3D platformer that’s great for casual play. However, when trying to collect all the stars, I found some levels quite frustrating (the majority are fine) because the tongue-grabbing mechanic feels inconsistent as it too often grabs everything except what you actually want. No, game, I really didn’t mean to grab something behind me or that cannonball, I promise! That said, maybe it’s just a skill issue on my part or because I played with keyboard and mouse instead of a controller.

Overall, I was genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed it, especially since I usually don’t like platformers.

The Linux version of the game runs perfectly with no issues.

I really like this game. Such a unique take on speed platforming in a 3d environment. The sense of speed is real and you can pull off some amazing and rewarding stunts. I'm not the best at it, and when the momentum stops, it's not as fun to play. But the fun is learning how to better attempt the level. It's much like an early sonic game in that regard. The more you play, the more optimal the runs and the more fun you have going fast.

This is one of those hard-as-balls (ha) physics-based 3D platformers with a slightly unconventional movement style that will be one of the most infuriating things you have ever played in your life for the first couple of hours until the jump-and-swing-off-things movement to just [i]clicks[/i] into place in your brain and suddenly you're launching yourself off between lava flows and cannonballs at 200 mph.

At first, Crumble angered me. Crumble insulted me. Crumble made me regret ever downloading it. But I would not let Crumble beat me. I would master Crumble. And now, I look back at Crumble and can say it was of the more satisfying platformers I've played in recent memory. This ball knows how to ball. You just gotta learn [i]to[/i] play ball first.

After finishing all the main levels, honestly it's pretty fun, albeit a bit unpolished, it feels a lot like something I'd play if I wasn't paying much attention in class, like a coolmath games type thing, the sort of generic UI and simple-ish controls definitely lend itself to that. Feels kinda like a more precision platformer version of Slope in places. I think it's pretty alright. Though the controls can kinda get a bit finicky the games honestly short enough that none of the unintended glitches or jank are really infuriating to me. It's fun if you just wanna run through something for a night.

I beat the whole game from beginning to end in around 2.5 hours with controller(worked great btw) and it was really fun! Wanting to play the whole game in one sitting regardless of length is almost always a great sign. The gameplay was really enjoyable and the speedy sections were exhilarating. Can't wait to see what this studio has next!

In short this game's worst part is the physics, which is a shame since that's obviously such a big focus.

Crumble is a game I remember seeing posted about on social media pre release and being excited at the prospect of such a creative looking platformer coming out, and then I never played it. What always stuck with me was just how fast you could go and still competently platform around. Now that I've finally gotten around to this game I wonder how I ever came to that conclusion.

Controlling the slime is... okay. Speed doesn't ramp up in a consistent manner; it seems like levels make liberal use of hidden speed boosters for "fast" sections and for the rest it ends up being frustrating to get to a speed that allows you to platform at the pace you desire. the tongue grapple works best in scenarios where there is only one thing to grapple and that is by all means rare, and even then the range at which it will attach to a surface I swear is inconsistent, making it tough to estimate how far or close you have to be from your intended target before it actually grabs said target.

The physics and chaos the steam page mentions come in the form of self-sabotage to the game's level design. Specifically this occurs most in the second and third worlds, where cannons are nearly constantly being shot at you and everything under the sun is a physics object. It's a neat novelty upon introduction that gets tiring after the third time you get screwed by a cannonball because the physics platform next to you decided to knock you so off course that you physically could not course correct to an available platform. If you get to an interesting seeming part of a level, you're probably about to be shot at by cannons for the rest of the stage, which means your appreciation for the layout is about to be cut short and replaced with "God this sucks." Thankfully this ceases upon beginning the fourth world, so it's not like it stays forever, but it lasts long enough and took up enough of my play time that I have a permanently soured opinion of this game. oh yeah, did you know you can grapple the cannonballs themselves? :) so fun, right?

For completionist types, there are also bonus levels which you gain access to by completing the stages within a certain time limit. some of them are normal style levels but most of them are some kind of gimmick level which work well to add diversity to the flow of the game, should you go back to the level select to play them in between normal level completion. This is alongside unlockable skins for the slime which can be found within each main level. I personally got the cat skin and knew I needed to look no further.

I dunno, it's frustrating to walk away from a game like this and know that most of the game is really fine but still not want to recommend it, but having all joy sucked out of me by those stages in the middle makes me struggle to find worth in recommending this game because it comes with the caveat of "yeah, if you want to play good levels you have to go through at least 6 levels of absolute dogwater" and I just don't see the point in that. Neat game, but don't do that.

Crumble is a high-speed physics-based platformer that feels like a chaotic blend of a racing game and a platformer. You control a bouncy blue slime in a world that is literally falling apart beneath your feet. It is an exercise in momentum and quick reflexes where the goal isn't just to reach the finish line but to do so before the entire level dissolves into the abyss.

The movement mechanics are the soul of the experience. Your little blob can roll jump and most importantly use its tongue as a grappling hook. I found that swinging through the air feels incredibly fluid and satisfying especially when you manage to chain together several grapples to clear a massive gap. The physics engine is unpredictable in the best way possible; hitting a ramp at the right angle can send you soaring while a mistimed bounce might leave you struggling to regain speed as the ground crumbles behind you.

The visual style is bright clean and almost toy-like which creates a great contrast with the sheer destruction happening on screen. From crumbling urban landscapes to lush forests every environment is designed to be destroyed. There is a genuine sense of urgency when you see buildings toppling over and platforms snapping in real-time. The game also features a variety of creative set pieces including a very intense chase sequence involving a giant mechanical worm that tests everything you have learned about maintaining speed.

Beyond the campaign there is a surprisingly robust multiplayer mode and a collection of party games that allow you to compete against friends. Whether you are racing to the end of a level or trying to knock each other off a shrinking platform the physics-driven chaos translates perfectly to a social setting. It's weird that this game starts out really strong with a relatively quick jump into faster and more chaotic level design, but then suddenly I hit a level where I can't for the life of me figure out where to go next. The level design is lacking in some of these stages and you should get lost so easily in something that should be more of a straightforward speed challenge game.

Frustrujúca hovadina. Pasáže, kde sa treba prechytiť jazykom sú niekde tak zle spravené, že sa bod na prychytenie objaví na 20 pokus. A za svet neviem prísť, čím to je. Blízko letím dosť no dopadnem do hmly, keďže zachytenie nezafunguje. Spravidla sa to deje na poslednej prekážke v rade, takže zakaždým treba opakovať celú pasáž. Takých pasáží, kde je úspešnosť hlavne o náhode a vyžadujú preto 100 opakovaní je veľa.

Niektoré časti sú ale vcelku relaxačné. Celkovo skôr nuda. Z tech. stránky možno vytknúť sekanie, čo pri grafike 90-tych rokov je pozoruhodné.

I enjoyed the first 4 worlds. This game is at its best when you get to build up momentum and skip the main route of a level. The game would've been better off with less physics interactions. At in the final level I felt like the camera and physics were fighting me, and not in an obstacle way. Some times, the camera liked to jerk around violently and disorient me. I wouldn't recommend the game at full price, get it on a sale.

- TLDR: You goop at concerning, surprising speeds, and have a good time. Arguably worth it without a sale, despite being a short experience. It is a short king, as it were. -

This game reminds me strongly about browser and Flash games, as well as stuff like Clustertruck and the like, but with a distinct tone of "This is trying really hard to take on the best of what has come before", in a similarly strong positive way. You go "bleh" and swing about and splat and it's quite fun. I was also surprised at multiple points by how well and how thoroughly Brute Force has made going "bleh" an interesting experience from start to goopy end.

This game is how it looks in the store material, you swing about large and cartoony spaces, getting up to hijinks of some kind. The Features list really describes the length and breadth of the story, it does not have aspirations of knocking Mass Effect off the Sci-Fi narrative throne despite your rocket ship and space travel trappings. This is where I invoke Flash games, because it's *just* about swinging through drag race courses with physics and a little guy with a funny face.

You roll around with some level of momentum to influence your speed, you jump with altered height depending on how fast you get, and your tongue lashes onto valid surfaces and objects when you press the "bleh" button. You have the ability to throw yourself a little with the jump button when licking something. This is the vast majority of what you do, and you don't do it for very long if you're fairly good at the videosgame, but BF have made doing this as varied and enjoyable as I can expect without doing something differently, if that makes sense.

It is a small joy to hurl yourself down a natural slalom course, jumping at the right times to fling yourself into the air and sticking to an errant branch with *just* the right timing to fire yourself like a comet towards your destination, minus a trail of stardust and fire (BF, pls fix we need to set the atmosphere ablaze at max speeds). The distortion increasing as you accelerate, the appropriate shifts in camera distance when you hit the "We're not gonna make it! Let's speed up!" sections, the consistent feeling of tension when you hit those speeds where you're not quite fully in control but never *without* control, it all contributes to a firm smile on my face as I'm playing and replaying it.

The level design does a lot of work to make these movement mechanics shine just that little bit harder, opting to have more lickable surfaces than you expect to make close calls happen more often, or to facilitate Ludicrous Speed plans, as well as just being laid out in sensible and entertaining configurations. Notably, set-pieces which blew past the Flash game vibes and set my jaw askew at times helped to make me excited to see what nonsense was about to appear next.

This game is a blast in those aspects, of course, but its little divergences in game play activity hold their own in really interesting ways, so much so that I'm surprised at how little those detours get used. I'm hesitant to spoil some of them, but there's material here that gets used maybe *once*, where if I were a team lead at BF I would have gone "You fools, we need this gimmick in four more other levels, what are you doing?!"

The store page spoils one of them, so I'll mention that: the game has two (from memory) bonus levels where you traverse a normal map, get to a space with a whirlpool, and are turned into a 2D goopy lad. You then double back, traversing the slalom as a series of side-swinging areas. These, and I would like to emphasise this, are so mechanically *cromulent* that I'm shocked this wasn't part of a mainline level. It has the exact same mechanics, but NieR-ed into a 2D platformer for a moment with one brief seam separating the dimensions. This is something of a tone for most of the other bonus divergences,

A few meandering criticisms, just to temper expectations a little: I may not have set my options well in this regard, but I've definitely had to figure out stuff like distance-to-lick behaviours that aren't so well telegraphed by the assistance UI elements. I've flung sideways a fair amount of times because I didn't quite get how close I was to the trunk of a tree compared to the tantalising branch forwards. Again, maybe I can adjust this to prevent this, but I'm not clear on if I can, so that's potentially a limiter, if minor.

You have a few collectibles in different categories, as well as markers on each level for completion and beating the level time, but you don't seem to have a way of tracking it in-game. You have a little jar you put your fellow slime people in as you collect them, but there's no indicator of how many you have yet to get, nor which levels are necessarily cleaned of collectibles, meaning the prospect of doing this completely guide-free involves a modern-day equivalent to interacting with every wall in an old DOOM map to try and find secrets, which I consider a detriment to the experience.

The last area of the main-ish part of the campaign has a gimmick in some areas based on judging where on the ground you are allowed to slide without getting melted, and I found myself seemingly crisped without fully understanding why at times. Comprehension or implementation, either way, something's amiss.

You're too wet. 7/10, too much water (for a slime).

A bit of love for the art of this game: I like it! It's both clean and cartoony, but has a bit of texture and detail to keep itself from being insipidly simplistic. The environments and biomes that you go through are well presented, distinct, and do a fair bit to ensure you're clear on what you can do, where you should do it, and making the odd dead end with something to take from it seem just a little unusual enough to explore.

You, the goopy guy, are kinda cute in an off-putting way, and I mean that semi-positively. You have the standard manic slime expression which is decidedly cute without caveat, but you do move a bit like a water balloon and deform constantly, which defaults to being silly moreso than visually concerning. You do have the ability to change your look, and some of the appearances are in line with this generally cutesy look, but some of the looks you get are quite grody, and all of them generate slime of differing colours, making some of the less objectionable appearances have a distinct vibe that payment processors nowadays would object to strongly, so to speak.

I like the manic quality you have, in the context of how the game plays like a disaster film where you're the survivor of the natural apocalypse (or whatever is actually happening, for all I know Frieza set the planet to blow up in 20 minutes and that wouldn't really contradict anything). It either incidentally or subtly suggests that you're a real thrill seeker, tornado-chaser type of sphere that is here on purpose to watch the world crumble behind you for the adrenaline. I don't get that much from other games, so that's neat!

The music is a little odd. I streamed this to some friends for a bit and the jokey response to some of the music at the end was something like "this is real brain-cell destruction type music, why is it like this?" Some of this would fit well over a clip of Sakura Miko failing to put water in an appliance that needs water to run properly, but something about it works well with the prior notes about a manic, off-putting vibe. I'd want a little more variety here, perhaps, but it's otherwise positively unobjectionable.

I find myself wanting to add more to this, but it is quite a small game with a simple gimmick, but it does what it does so well that I want an excuse to gush about it. You go "bleh" and a lot of fun follows, and I found myself idly opening the game after doing an achievement cleanup *just* to swing about, to be a silly little guy splatting into and over walls at a horrific pace. Really pleasant, enjoyable, solidly recommendable!

Tumbling is rarely this entertaining, however, it can quickly get out of control if you build enough speed. Striking a balance is key, which is more than obvious in a game that is overall a great time but has some fluctuations in design.

what a game! if it was a bit tighter, i think it would genuinely be a classic - and even then, i think it's extraordinary. i think having a sense of speed AND control in a game is hard to pull off, but this game combines spider-man-esque swinging and sonic platforming/speeds for an extremely satisfying combination

i've seen a few people be frustrated with this game, but as a casual gamer who gets frustrated and drops games others see as genuine classics, i think the flaws of this game are overstated and i only really noticed them in the final level (camera not being very cooperative, grapple aim being a little inconsistent) and even then they didn't feel insurmountable.

i already thought getting the stars would be a fun challenge (and i'm not normally a completionist!), but after the main campaign, you get a set of amazing challenge levels for each star you've unlocked, which i s an even greater incentive to be more completionist.

i think it's an extremely fun experience i would recommend to anybody, and i'd love to see a sequel one day.

great game! very satisfying platforming and grappling with a good sense of control and momentum. it's easy to beat the game and never frustrating. and there are optional challenge levels that really ramp things up, but are always fair. the game recommends controller, but i only played with keyboard + mouse and i imagine it would be hard to aim the grapple on controller, just in case anyone has a hard time with the controls.

My first exposure to this was during one of the many Steam Next Fests, and while I was not too impressed with what I played, for reasons unremembered. Fast forward to some time later, fate would see me needing to select another game to reach the minimum threshold on a Fanatical bundle, so thus chose this to see if my complaints were ironed out.

Yes, however, before I even reached the end of the first world, one of the bonus levels annoyed to the point of exiting, and leaving a very bitter, semi-inaccurate recount of my experiences. Thankfully, I leave comments enabled on all reviews, in case somebody can correct my errors, or give advice on how to break through any metaphorical walls.

Lo and behold, exactly that happened, and I recently dived in with renewed fervour, beat both of the obstacles, figured out many things I did not first play attempt (See "meh" section), then blasted forth until I had acquired all of the achievements.

[h3][b]Yay:[/b][/h3]

+ The previously murderously-difficult, seemingly luck-based stage 1G can very easily be bested by jumping on the centre of a rounded/small mushroom, as the cannons will likely home in well above said platform.

One should still use discretion when moving, but where once I had 30 seconds under par, I lasted 30 over it.

+ Stage 2K is also easy once you realise what the game does not tell you.

+ Every main level has a blob concealed somewhere within, and others have skins in addition to these.

+ I love when appearance customisation can be had in a game.

+ As well, I found many of the skins to be charming, especially the ones without faces, though, I absolutely adored the [spoiler]jiggly pumpkin/Jack O Lantern skin[/spoiler].

+ Crossover skins exist, but they're incredibly non-invasive, me needing to read they were from somewhere else before I knew they were for all but one.

+ In spite of my usual disdain for memes, the [spoiler]Pepe skin[/spoiler] was very amusing to me, and since this was released before the racists appropriated the character, I cannot fault the game for its inclusion.

+ The sense of speed some segments impart is higher than what I've seen in many other games. In other words, n y o o m.

+ Art was charming to me.

+ Environments, as well, with each world having its own aesthetic. I liked all of them, but have to mention World 4, as well as the visual shake-up in 5 delighting me.

+ The graphics are super-colourful, and look great on my MSI 321URX.

+ Most of the requirements for stars are very easy/reasonable to get.

+ Many of the levels do super-interesting, wildly creative things that surprised me, sending the impression this was developed with joy.

+ The optional bonus levels especially play around with the rules to great-to-me effect.

+ I loved how the rocket unceremoniously blasts you out of it at the beginning of each stage

+ Seeing the levels do the namesake, and crumble as they're blasted apart was also very much enjoyed, in spite of how little I yearn for destruction of anything.

[h3][b]Meh:[/b][/h3]

~ Things the game does not tell you:

Pushing the right face button resets instantly, saving some seconds if you fall but don't wait for the fog, or lava to take you.

One can hold the grapple/tongue button to automatically latch onto something the moment it becomes eligible for grappling/you're in range.

You can also jump while grappled, independent of if you're touching anything. This air boost helps massively in some situations.

~ In the third Marathon Bonus Level, I randomly had rope balloons pop from seemingly nothing. Thankfully, I was able to grab the platform I needed without them, and swing jump up.

~ I found it disappointing they used the Marathon theme thrice, but the latter two were significantly easier than the first, so I can't complain too much.

~ Survival, too, but the second one gave you much more durable platforms, and I did it in under 5 tries.

~ The achievement allegedly obtained for winning all of the stars unlocked before even going into World 5, so while that is a bit bugged, or otherwise mis-labelled, it still unlocks.

~ It crashed once.

~ You cannot grapple onto to some walls, and they're not clearly indicated. Even something as simple as making them a different colour would have signalled this.

~ Relative height is difficult to gauge in some instances on the speed segments, making everything grind to a halt if you hit the side of a platform, and need to swing back up.

~ While thankfully not needed for any achievements, World 7's Par times are seemingly-impossible.

- If one does not discover the systems and mechanics listed above, Stages 1G, and 2K can seem like they're entirely luck-based, and thus, are seemingly impossible.

While both of the initial exposures to this game were less than stellar, Apparition's advice, and commentary on the previous iteration of the review (thanks again for that!) truly made the third time the charm.

With every new world, and level following what I'd played, my opinion of the game continued to rise, until it mirrored its position, going from second-to-the-bottom to just-below-the-top.

Moral of the story? Enable comments on reviews, accept constructive criticism with gratitude, treat others as you want to be, and watch as you're proven wrong for the better.

This game for sure is a positive experience overall but I have alot of gripes with it. As a speed game enthusiast I feel the need to explain some of it. TLDR its a 6.5/10 for me, its mostly just due to the lack of polish in the games feedback and level designs. But overall a sweet treat.

To start though, I like how the game looks, its simple and readable for the most part and definitely looks like a full real game. The music is nice, however it doesn't make me wanna go fast per say. But Its good nonetheless. I really liked the style of lighting with the hard cut shadows. And the sections where everything is CRUMBLING is very cool to look at. Also good colors.

My biggest gripe though is probably the level design. Many segments in the game ask for more precision type of platforming with a momentum based character with little air control. So anytime I found myself in a precision jumping section, I mostly swung under and around the platforms which I dont think you are meant to do in many places as the death zone is clipped constantly in many levels if you play like this. At times I would try to stick to the intended top sided paths, but it rarely felt fluid and more tedious than anything. I rarely felt COOL ever when playing this and more like I was fumbling my way through. Even doing that, I was usually ending levels around the speedrun star timer by around 10 seconds at most. So it seemed for my first time casual play through I was doing pretty good time wise but it felt like I was playing like poop.

Theres also what I guess you could say are precision swinging areas , and these are better over all but intended path of swings are staggered poorly, alot of them you will over shoot completely but not enough to get in range for the next "branch". And if you try to use all the branches consecutively in the linear path area you will most of the time kill your forward momentum and just end up falling all the way down. Luckily this games checkpoint system is very generous and fast, so you rarely feel frustrated but rather underwhelmed.

The areas that play best in my opinion are when there are multiple paths both to be on top of and to swing off of. and a little bit of crumbling mayhem sprinkled on top. That on the run quick decision making on your swings and jumps are the best parts of the games. My favorite world was definitely number 4 except for the last level as I just couldn't see the game at all and that gave me a headache. World 4s level designs felt very fluid and fun though with many things to both grapple and bounce off constantly with a focus on going up and around, that was probably the only time I felt like spider-man the entire time in the game.

a few more things. You can grapple on most objects in this game which is great, however the few you cant arent clear until... well you fall trying to at least lol. That one I didnt run into often but its worth noting.

The blue dot that appears tells you where your grapple will attach, that blue dot seems to only appear on *most* branch-like objects, not all. It was especially noticeable on the last level of world 6. many of them just didnt show the dot and was weird. The blue dot also doesn't have an indicator that appears BEFORE you are in range. if a unsaturated circle slowly grew or dilated that than became BLUE or flashed; that would be nice, Theres many times where you only have you branch thing to grab onto in a chasm and you have no idea if you are just barely out of range or alot in many cases and it feels very BAD to be unsure of this and is harder to correct in midair without it.

Theres also these wind tubes that you get sucked into that then launch you out of on the other side. I liked these alot but were used VERY little. wish to see more of them but worth noting that their "sucking range / power" felt too weak and there were times I just bounced off the inner side of the cone to start the travel. There were these chinese lanterns that were used scarcely as well but they felt the best things to swing on full stop. Always a pleasure to see those.

There are some sections are just about speed, camera zooms out and you go FAST. THESE for the most part my eyes just kinda glazed over, they are very very easy and very lenient even with that very shallow jump height you have. Any time I did die on these, it was mostly just barely clipping the edge of an object in midair. Felt these coulda have more things to dodge and aim into in general.

The mushrooms, they are all red, but some mushrooms are additive to just your speed, some change your trajectory completely, and some transition into an animation to smoothly enter the next section. All fine things, but you cant tell which mushrooms do which till you touch them. make some green and yellow, color code the mechanic.

I know this is alot of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ but I just love these type of games so im critical of them, regardless of all that what you have here is very cool. Especially from a newer solo dev. And im aware this game is pretty old now, im sure many of the things
I said here the dev is aware of. Im very glad overall people enjoy this game. Its still worth a purchase especially on a sale like I did if you are into these type of things. The devs new Paper Airplane game looks really cool, ill definitely be checking that out. :)

I actually like the game and was looking forward to it.
However, it has the same problems as many indie games in this category.
It's too difficult right after the start (Level 3 or 4), especially the challenge levels.
I gave up on the first survival level alone after more than 20 attempts to get the star.
So, yes, it's a nice game, but more for tryhards and people who like difficult skill games.

I have 5.9 hours and I expect another hour or two until I unlock the final level. If you are looking for someone who 100% the game, then that isn’t me. I have no interest in collecting everything or gold starring every level. That is not entirely the game’s fault, I just don’t usually do it, but compared to say Sonic x Shadow Generations or Neon White, I don’t see myself pulling this game up every so often.

The music and visuals are great, the main problem is the controls. In my playtime the amount of times that I have gone to grapple an object and it just didn’t work or my attempt to swing doesn’t work well is numerous. It gets frustrating, especially when trying to gold starring the levels. When a game demands perfection from me, I expect perfection from it. I expect it that I won’t fall through level geometry, I expect that a jump will always let me reach the same distance.

I got this game on steam summer sale. For less than 5 bucks, I suggest it 110%. Frankly, I’ve had more fun in my time with this than Sonic Frontiers. For over 10 bucks, not at all. You can get so many better platformers for that price on Steam.

So overall 6/10 game. Pick it up if you want a fun platformer, but it isn’t the best of the genre,

ワールドクリア後、ステージ選択画面への移動時に高確率でクラッシュするバグがある。
再起動すればクリア状況は保存済みなので実害は少ないのが救い。

The graple hook feels like its almost random where its gonna land you have little control.

it's pretty good, the movement is fun and especially satisfying when you pick up speed, and the visuals are cute, though there isn't much variety in the visuals (there aren't even any enemies).

but be wary, the camera is borderline uncontrollable, you tend to grapple to things you didn't want (nor things that made sense to), and the optional survival levels suck.

particularly on the last few worlds, it tends to be more frustrating than fun.

it's maybe a little overpriced off sale, considering how simple it is and how it only takes about 2-3 hours to beat the main levels, but its an indie dev so i'm not too mad.

I played and beat the game through, it is a very short game and can be fun at times, but can be buggy, A LOT. It's very cute and has a nice aesthetic for the most part. Although it is a very speed based game and wants you to complete the levels fairly quickly. The bugginess and some world design is what makes it not enjoyable for me. The free aim is not very good, and only shows up as a dot only for hanging or sticklike objects. It does not show up if you swing under platforms. There is also an issue with your tongue (grapple mechanic) suddenly shortening to not hardly allow any momentum. The ending world design can be a slight bit deceptive, but overall is a cool looking game. I like it and is pretty cool, just has some unenjoyable moments spread out.

Cute little chaotic bouncer!

A game where you roll and swing around expansive levels trying to control your momentum even for a bit. Fun, does not get stale ('cause it's short), pleases with interesting bonus levels.
Not quite polished though. Jump mechanics could be better: there are situations where you hit some floor polygon and the jump you've just pressed gets eaten because there are no koyote time. Level design breaks if you have too much speed (you almost always have), but it adds chaos and I think it's good.

There are leaderboards to grind if you are into it, but expect weird speed tech LOL.

So close, yet so far...

This is a great momentum platformer... for the first world. The best world is the one that doesn't happen in the sky but in a forest... which is the first one... literally the tutorial world.

Then it decides to put you in the sky and to become a hardcore platformer with momentum mechanics... and the quality just nosedives completely until it crashes.

The first world looked genuinely amazing (I literally felt this could have become one of my favorite games). It's a world that has "solid" platform (it's literally the ground of a planet), every world after that (at least the one I played) are unrealistic platforms in the sky, world 2 has ground with trees, then every level after that slowly replace the platforms with wooden or concrete structure that when touched get pushed away.

Props to the 4th world for adding canons and bombs that literally make it so the platforms are pushed away BEFORE you get to them.

It is also really buggy:

Level 2E, for example, has a lot of platform where you literally go through them, at one moment my tongue was still on a tree, but I kept falling (my tongue just got bigger)

This was so close to greatness, but in the end... it's just bad.

I would recommend you to play at least the first world, but yeah, after that it's just not worth it...

PS: it's also the kind of momentum game where you gain speed when not touching the floor, which is fine... if the level design is made around that

It's a good game!

You roll around, hop, and swing - sometimes (or optionally) at incredible speeds. If you're into speedrunning, there's plenty potential and per-level leaderboards.

It might not seem like a big movement set, but the game gets a lot of mileage out of it with a wide variety of levels and optional side locations that try something entirely different. There's even a grand finale, and then a little encore.

On the downsides, it can be hard to tell what your hook will attach to when you press the button - sometimes the object is off-screen and the guide dot doesn't seem to show on flat surfaces, only branch-like objects. You get hang of it after a while, but it would be nice to have an option to draw a dotted line towards where you might hook to.

Absolutely recommended if you buy on a sale. It feels great to go fast and swing around the levels with the tongue mechanic and it reminds me of a cross between Sonic and Cyberhook. The game gets more challenging, but never too challenging, as you organically progress, and I found that each level presented a unique mechanic without straying too far away from its core design philosophy.

I have two major criticisms that I would like to address tho.

1. The game is really short. Going back and beating the challenge time and finding the hidden slime might be enough for someone who *really* loves the game, but the core experience took me about 3-4 hours to complete; what a shame! There are - I feel especially when playing games like Sonic or Cyberhook - many more ideas and mechanics this game could have explored if Brute Force gave 1-3 more worlds. You buy this on sale for at least 70% off, and you're definitely getting your money's worth, because based on length alone, you've got a $5.00 (USA) game on your hand.

2. There were a significant amount of moments where I would fall and die and somehow made a check point, so when I would re-spawn, I would be in a brand new area of the level. To me, that took a bit of the magic away because I want to earn my progression and not have it be made to where I just get handed bones due to how the checkpoint system works, it's like being forced to use the Golden Tanooki suit from Mario 3-D world and then being pushed to the next checkpoint when you die, and for as short as a game as this is, it does NOT need that.

But yeah, the game the game is still good, perfect if you're hanging out with friends and family and you want to break out your Steam deck for something to do, it's a lot of fun!

Camera controls super poorly, and the "free aim" setting does nothing, you still grapple onto things out of view, all it does is put a dot in the middle of your screen.
