quite fun, the names of some of the resources are low effort but everything else (mostly) great!

Unable to beat the first mission... You can place towers and guns. The towers won't connect to the 2 bigger towers it says to connect to... One connects, then the second will not do anything no matter how many towers or guns are around it. Game doesn't make any sense....

Creeper world is kind of like a tower defense where the enemy is a very viscous fluid. There is nothing else like it, the creativity always makes me so happy. I played the first four creeper world games on windows, and have now taken to playing this one on Linux Mint, so if you have Linux Mint know that it is an option!
TLDR - If you haven't played any CW games, you're much better off getting any of the other games in the franchise. If you are a hardcore CW fan, it might be worth playing this game even if you don't like it as much as other CW entries.
I think I prefer the other entries in the creeper world franchise over this one so far (reviewing this about halfway through the main campaign). It has some interesting maps and content, but it just doesn't hold up as well in other areas:
- Resource management is too easy and doesn't provide any real challenge to the early gameplay in each level
- The lore is not as good as previous CW games (not that I care that much but at least it wasn't just straight up confusing and disorienting)
- New mechanics are poorly explained (I imagine this would be even worse for someone who's never played a CW game before)
- But being in 3D is what I dislike the most in this CW installment. The 3D graphics don't enhance the experience for me and I actually find them annoying in many cases. I think I would like this game a lot more if it just used a top-down 2D view.
I'll still probably play through the rest of the main story, but I definitely prefer to go back to CW1, CW2, PFE, (and I imagine CW3, though I haven't purchased it and played it yet, but I've heard it's really good).
'tis an oddly simple yet satisfying game to play. It could use a massive improvement to its tooltips, but overall still simple to grasp and enjoy. Took me about 12hrs to beat the campaign, don't feel the need to play anymore, but enjoyed the time I had with the game.

I like TD games. This one has great reviews, but it sucks. Very unpolished and super confusing.
There's no tutorial and no explanation of how to play. It's not fun to play right away. I think there's instructions baked into the terrible storyline, but I skipped it because it's poorly translated nonsense. Here's an example:
One of the little storyline notifications that pops up and pauses the game on the 2nd mission says this (exactly):
Great Mother quest assyst.
Creeper graph added to sistem.
PRAYSE BE THE FOUNDERS!
and then underneath that is a button you're supposed to click to acknowledge the message and resume the game, and the button you click says
"Annoying, but useful. Reminds me of Director Hale. "Creeper', interesting."
I have no idea what any of that is supposed to mean and after 20 minutes of being annoyed trying to figure out how to play I requested a refund.

This is a very interesting and unique game. It's similar to TD games but it's got a really cool twist with the liquid mechanics where it keeps it fresh and interesting. Also some of the levels are just very well designed and are creative.
A really nice blend of everything I like about tower defense games and RTS games. This iteration gives the same fun as Creeper World 1-3, but now you can fly around among your unit as they fight. This entire series is some of my favorite gaming.

What a disaster. It's almost like they had to try hard to make it this bad. It's creeper world 3 with cutesy cartoonish graphics and greatly simplified play. The only thing it has going for it is the "3d" rotation. But that doesn't look nearly as cool in the game as it does on the store page. And you never use it while playing anyways. Just play Creeper World 3.

Well executed tug-of-war strategy game. Going 3D is a welcome change in the franchise. It's even starting to make its way into the zeitgeist, spawning some knockoffs.
Medium complexity tower defence game where planets are covered with what I like to call goob and you're there to clean up and make the planets liveable again or something like that.

Great game, especially in co-op! It's satisfying to push back the creeper with an ever-expanding arsenal of weapons and structures throughout the campaign. As you get new toys, so does the creeper, which steadily grows the complexity of the game.

Pretty good game!
Hits a few issues compared to their 2d sister games (CW3 in particular).
For the same reason those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bats in early 3d zelda games are obnoxious, the move to 3d has made the game state less easily readable (If you can't see it, you can't plan for it, which is probably skill issue on my part.)
Regardless, other choices make the game more of a chore (or slow it down) than its predecessors, such as:
-Moving away from reactors and into miners, which need to be micromanaged quite a bit more.
-Research being less important (or the ern system in general which kind of feels like a cop out)
You know, maybe I just wanted CW3 in 3D.

I enjoyed Creeper World 3, but this is a great successor. The story is great, the interface and 3D view is awesome, and the maps aren't insanely difficult.
Wonderful, fantastic, BRILLIANT. Story trash tho like come on its not even voiced just some text explaining the most generic story in the world. I just decided to skip all those scenes.
Loved this game when it was on my browser and yet again love the steam version, 4 days of non stop playing and sad to complete it :(
game breaking softlock on not my mars, suddenly my main tower just "stopped working?" was hard softlocked and tried looking up what was happening and nothing, do not play. sorry if this is harsh, but when game wont say whats happening or why just bad game design.

This game along CW3 and CW IXE are yearly rituals for me at this point. That is, I play them at least once a year in succession. I delete all saves and start over. I don't know what keeps pulling me to this game, but its one of the few series that I also re-play yearly.
The change to 3D is very well done (all others were 2D) and offered more depth (yes) to the game since you have a whole new axis of creeper to deal with. I wish it was longer (the campaign) but knuckle games has a system that serves fresh new maps to try and play or go look for them yourself.
Do yourself a favor and buy the complete bundle of creeper world on sale. you wont regret it
This game is awesome! it's challenging when you want, and chill when you don't. It has some minor bugs, but mostly just on user created maps. It's a simple game with a lot of strategy!

The primary game mechanic for Creeper World seems to be built around plugging holes in an ever-filling leaky bucket. Except you don't even have a bucket, just annoyance-fueled rage, and a bunch of useless towers.
The whole time you're playing this, you'll be thinking "would I rather be doing this, or licking my baseboards clean." After a few hours of playing this, you'll probably choose the latter.
The 3D aspect can be a hit or miss, unless you player custom "FPS" maps where its absolutely brilliant.
All in all its probably the best out of the 4 CW's
If you ever played the original Creeper Worlds, i recommend this. It has extra mechanics that make the move to actual 3d a lot more interesting, and comes with the same nostalgia and extra puzzles while still enjoying the same old tower defense feel of the originals.
This game is just bad for 2 main reasons
Narrative - The story just like the other Creeper games is absolutely awful and delivered in the worst way possible too. Honestly might have been better cutting out the attempt at a story entirely.
Info - The game is filled with non-sensical named things that really seems like a 5 year old came up with them (The green resource is called GREENRAR). The game has 0 tool tips and does an awful job explaining what things do if it even tries. Most of the info you need you have to get from a wiki page?!?
I don't know why I put 8 hours into this, the creeper mechanic has carried this game and all other creeper games as it is a fairly interesting mechanic. Shame it has to rely on these terrible creeper games to show case it.
