I really wanted to like this game, I grew up watching a lets play of this when I was a kid and this game always stuck in my head. I really love how this is set in a yurt in Mongolia, I love the art direction and style, I love the attempt to handle the ideas of self and consciousness being moved into robotic bodies as an effort to save humanity, I like the mystery, I like the quirkiness of the legs being fused and the cube game. Little lacking with some of the execution, but hey it was 2015 where high quality titles like this were a bit of an anomaly in the indie space.

Frankly, this is basically an extremely obtuse adventure game where some logs you can't pick up, but the wood logs in this special box can. You'll mess up making a bird soup recipe 5 times because you can't tell which box is supposed to be salt. It gets incredibly annoying very quickly but saved by everything mentioned above.

So people really really critique the cube game, and I didn't really remember any of it, but it's rightfully criticized for being out of place. Slowing down the story and just not fitting generally with the rest of the game in any aspect. I don't really mind this, but the reason why it breaks the game is moreso just how BAD the game is.

Essentially it turns this game into a slowed down minecraft spleef game where the goal is to pick up a set amount of blue cubes within the time frame. However if you touch the ground, get hit by this red thingy it will dock points from you. This could be fine if there was a way to earn this back, but blue cubes don't actually regenerate, or if they do it's poorly explained, so you can lose the game very easily, but the biggest problem is that there's no way to reset the game, there's no way to actually redo. You instead need to basically sit there and drop the points to 0 somehow I'm assuming, because I never actually got my points down to that point since I was fed up when I saw where it was going. So on top of this game being a very slowed down janky parkour collectathon in a first person walking sim adventure game which is already a bad combination. You have a way to lose with no way to actually redo without quitting out or reloading which is topped by the rather difficult to figure out point losses.

I could totally see a version of this game that's better for just making the player rummage through an environment for when the android needs to give exposition that will take a while, or having an even slightly better minigame, but it doesn't opt for either and you've got this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ section that puts up enough of an enjoyment barrier to keep people from wanting to continue.

11/10 amazing plot, amazing world, banger soundtrack and awesome voice acting. The visuals of the game are so atmospheric too. The muted colors really pull everything together. The minigames made me bang my head on a wall. Perfect game!

主人公は謎の小屋で目覚め、謎のロボットの女性と交流をしていく。
この世界で何が起きたのか？このロボットの正体はなんなのか？主人公の正体は？
といった謎が少しずつ明らかになっていくアドベンチャーゲーム。

ゲームは謎解きと会話を主体とする一本道。
マップは広いがやることは常に1つで、目的はTabキーで確認出来るので会話を聞き漏らしても大丈夫。
ただ、その謎解きが異常に難解で、せっかくの親切なシステムはあまり役立っていない。
目的地近くに行くとさらに詳しいヒントが出るが、それは一瞬で消えてしまい二度と見ることが出来ない。
自力での攻略はまず不可能でしょう。
ただ正解を知ってみると納得感はあり、理不尽ではない印象でした。
でも自力では不可能です。

アドベンチャーとしてはかなり上々。
世界観も操作性もよく、会話内容もなかなかおもしろい。
ただ基本的にテキストで物語を理解する作りなので、がっつりテキストを読まされる時間が多い。
でもちゃんと読めば面白いと思います。

謎解き部分は完全に攻略を見ながらやるくらいでちょうどいい難易度。
その前提であれば個人的にかなり良い印象のゲームでした。
ラストはちょっと感動。

Un jeu indé ukrainien d'aventure & exploration à la 1ère personne dans plus ou moins un petit open-world, basé sur la contemplation des steppes de Mongolie dans un monde futuriste...

Malgré sa carte ouverte assez vide, on ne pourra au final que suivre un à un, les objectifs/tâches textuelles attribués au fur & à mesure autour de 2-3 lieux... avec un fondu au noir qui nous empêchera d'aller au delà des montages aux alentours...

Pour un walking-simulator linéaire très beau au gameplay se rapprochant du point n' click avec pas mal de textes à lire un peu partout, des journaux qui tapissent les fonds de tiroirs jusqu'aux notes éparpillées en pleine nature... (qu'il faudra trouvé pour mieux comprendre le l'ensemble)
Si rajoutera aussi un peu de physique avec la plupart des objets..
Ce qui peut poser problème si on jette n'importe où les objets qui servent à l’aventure & aussi pour bien faire des combinaisons de 2 objets ensemble...

Les espèces de mini-jeu des pavillons de ramassage des cubes ne sera de même pas très intéressant ni réussi...

La sauvegarde étant automatique (avec déblocage de chapitres) cela peut aussi engendrer des soucis pour si retrouver... le fait de recharger/continuer la partie remettra tous les objets à leur emplacements d'origine, même ceux qui sont dans notre inventaire...

Encore à ce jour, il a des petits problèmes d'optimisation avec des freezes & sauts de frames dès qu'on tourne la caméra un peu trop vite...
Un peu moins en baissant l'anti-aliasing dans les paramètres...,vu que le gameplay est assez lent ça n'impactera pas trop l'ensemble...

Une bonne petite aventure originale, immersive & poétique pour peu qu'on aime prendre son temps, malgré ses problèmes de gameplay & sa cohérence au niveau des sauvegardes...

[h2] A lot of lost potential [/h2]
Let me preface this by saying I didn't finish the game. I couldn't. I played about 2/3 until I found the story and gameplay too tedious.
This game could have been pretty great. It's often described as a mixture between walking simulator and puzzle game, which I would agree with.

[h3] Gameplay [/h3]
This is unfortunately one of the first snags. The controls are pretty weird. If you're used to games that were contemporary to this one at the time of its release, the control scheme is inconvenient to say the least. You click on items to pick them up, click again to drop them and press right click to throw them, with E either opening your inventory or stashing an item in there. If you open your inventory, you can't quick select via the number keys for instance, but you have to click on the item instead. I've lost key quest items a few times which forced me to restart to a checkpoint.

Unfortunately the majority of what you do in the game isn't that fun either. A lot of it consists of walking over from your home to a point of interest over and over again. You go to the location, play a variation of the same minigame which consists of throwing cubes of a specific colour around with not much of a challenge (maybe the devs knew it's not fun since when you lose you can choose to skip it, but it still takes a long time to lose). It's mostly busywork and not engaging. Then you go home, talk to a character for a bit or fiddle around with the latest item acquisition to help the character, then go out again to talk to a different character, and then come back again only to go to that location you've been to several times.
Some of the interactions with the items can be quite interesting and it's actually kind of neat to be rummaging around the character's home, but the aforementioned item handling gets too awkward and ruins the experience for me.

[h3] Story/Lore [/h3]
I was intrigued at first, reading through the newspaper clippings and tidbits strewn across the player character's little tent/hut. But from the start I could gather that the writing would require quite a bit more suspension of disbelief than what I consider to be good sci-fi. What I mean to say is, it takes already existing real life scientific concepts and completely misinterprets them to spin its lore and narrative. The core of the plot revolves around copying minds, and that is somehow related to the copied mind still having a relationship of its DNA in some not entirely explained way, even though the mind is only data at that point, from what I understand. Terminology is also mixed up a lot. First there is talk of a mind transfer into a synthetic body. Characters talk as if there is an actual continued stream of consciousness. But then it's revealed that it's actually not, that it's just copying. This doesn't come as a plot twist, rather as an inconsistency.
The narrative also seems to be trying to make a point about the concepts of beauty, maybe even eugenics. If it is talking about it, it's unclear whether it wants to condemn eugenics, or accidentally approves of it? There is a lot of talk about beauty, genetic purity making for more valuable minds, minds generating a substance through their emotion. It's a jumbled mess that I struggle to explain without spoilers. Eventually I just disengaged from the narrative because it wasn't good enough to make me sit through the tedious gameplay.

[h3] Graphics and Art Style [/h3]
It's actually fairly pretty for being so old. It's a mixture of styles between low resolution realism and hand-painted textures. Some of the machinery seemed to be influenced by art deco concepts.

[h3] Voice Acting and Dialogue [/h3]
This is where it falls completely flat. The player character has just such a monotonous style of diction that at times I wonder if he even gives half a ♥♥♥♥♥ about anything. He's lost his memory and can't even muster a tiny bit of emotional emphasis in his tone of voice. Top that off with being kind of a bawbag to a very helpless character that he needs to help in order to get answers, and it gets grating. Other characters with speaking roles aren't entirely as robotic, which is ironic because they're the ones visibly inhabiting synthetic bodies. The dialogue itself also tends to get heavy-handed, with exposition dumps forced into the lines with no real organic feel to it. The two characters you speak to basically narrate at you, with the player character barely managing a dispassionate remark, which all around leads to very stale dialogue that I skipped through since I was able to read the dialogue box quicker than the performances were. It doesn't help the other tedious aspects at all.

[h3] A feminist critique [/h3]
I couldn't help but view the character you're helping, Ida, through a feminist lens. If you still want to try the game, you should skip this section as I'm going into more detail.
[spoiler] Ida is the digitised personality of a woman whose electronic brain you find out in the desert. When you start the game, you'll have a feminine Android body sitting on a cupboard, apparently repurposed as a flower vase. Ida basically spends the entire game requiring you to fetch spare parts for her, while quietly suffering until you can be arsed to replace the component. She's the only female character in the game as I'm aware, and she's relegated to sitting paralysed and naked on the cupboard as an ornament. The player character also tends to be really dismissive of her plight at times, while she's suffering from missing or broken components; feeling like she's suffocating, having a panic attack each time you need to reboot her for repairs, and eventually facing the threat of mentally disintegrating after having realised that her very existence has become illegal due to now functionally being a duplicate since a backup of her has resumed her old life. At one point the player character literally says to her "I don't really care about that." in his usual monotone. You could argue that he's meant to be a prick, but there isn't much characterisation to begin with for it to be consistent. First he's inquisitive and helps her, then he starts to complain about her needs. It became pretty off-putting along with the rest of the game. You could argue that she's in an android body and that she doesn't need any clothes for example, but any other character living in a synthetic body is shown to be wearing clothes, even having a personal style. Were the developers intending to victimise the only female character by having her suffer naked and afraid? Not necessarily. Did they miss the implications? Absolutely. The fact that some of the reviews here talk of a "robot waifu" rather validates my point, I think. She ends up being an object to be gawked at.[/spoiler]

[h3] Final Verdict [/h3]
Buy on sale for very cheap. Don't expect something you're going to have an easy time with.

Nawet nie mam ochoty kończyć tej gry.
Skusiła mnie obietnica cyberpunkowego klimatu (zwłaszcza w wersji mongolskiej), oraz interesującego świata. Dostałam wielkie rozczarowanie.

Zaczyna się całkiem dobrze, mnóstwo lore, duża interaktywność, karmienie orła i kontrast technologii z tradycyjną jurtą. Bardzo ładna lokacja, startowa i zapowiedź dużej intrygi. Niestety, w miarę odkrywania opowieści i samej rozgrywki, robi się coraz gorzej. Cała gra sprowadza się do ciągłego wracania w to samo miejsce i powtarzania tej samej (beznadziejnej) minigierki, po to żeby przynieść kolejny fant i uszłyszeć kolejną część historii, która się kupy nie trzyma. Za trzecim razem się wściekłam, przy czwartym się poddaję, nie mam już do tego serca.

Mimo tak wielu szczegółów rzeczywistości podanych w formie ekspozycji, gracz dostaje pustą planszę i w zasadzie dwie lokacje, przez co w ogóle nie ma żadnego połączenia emocjonalnego ze światem gry. Dużo zostaje mu powiedziane, ale niczego nie doświadcza. Z kolei te motywy, które są najbardziej angażujące i aż się proszą o stanie się główną częścią tej historii to epizody, mające niewielki, bądź zerowy wpływ na historię.

Kolejnym problemem jest ogromna niespójność rzeczywistości w grze. Odnoszę wrażenie, że upchano tam masę zupełnie przypadkowych motywów, bez przemyślenia, po co się je tworzy, jakby mnogość szczegółów miała zamaskować brak ogólnego zamysłu. To pomieszanie z polątaniem, brak konsekwencji i zdecydowania powoduje, że bardzo ciężko jest zawiesić niewiarę i "kupić" ten świat. Z jednej strony mamy cywilizację bardzo zaawansowaną technologicznie, bardzo zorientowaną na segregację genetyczną (już mniejsza o to, dlaczego, chociaż samo uzasadnienie jest też wyssane z palca), a z drugiej strony, zamiast cisnąć w inżynierię DNA i profesjonalną hodowlę, latają po opuszczonych ogrodach, na kompletnym zapupiu z magicznym czytnikiem, żeby zerwać kwiatki o odpowiednich parametrach. Ludzie już w XVII wieku to lepiej ogarniali. Te nieszczęsne gerbery to tylko czubek góry lodowej nonsensów, które mogła bym tu przytoczyć, a nawet nie dokończyłam gry. Chociaż, trzeba oddać twórcom to, że sama koncepcja postrzegania piękna przez społeczeństwo w tym świecie jest intrygująca i zasługuje na poważniejsze potraktowanie.

Podsumowując - jest to gra, która gdzieś głęboko w swoim corze, wyrosła z niezwykle ciekawego i oryginalnego pomysłu. To widać, bo są tam koncepcje, które odpowiednio pociągnięte, mogły by wyewoluować w niezwykle poruszającą opowieść. Niestety, w procesie twórczym, wydarzyło się coś, co położyło tę produkcję po całości. Nie wiem, czy to brak czasu, brak budżetu, czy zmiany kadrowe, czy złe decyzje. Efekt jest... jaki jest... szkoda. Mimo, że dostrzegam, że był w tym potencjał, nie jestem w stanie znaleźć w tej grze ani jednego powodu, żeby ją polecić. Nawet jako ciekawostkę.

Ce jeu était pourtant bien parti, mais j'ai été bloqué dans le mini jeu des cubes. Mais pourquoi les devs ont-ils inséré cette absurdité dans un jeu d'aventure ? Je n'ai pas payé pour un jeu d'arcade ! Du coup je ne connaîtrais pas la fin du jeu. En cherchent des tutos il parait que le jeu propose de zapper cette séquence mais je n'ai rien vu. Fairly interesting story, but if you're the type that likes any kind of closure i cannot recommend this. If you like the vibe of the game and have a few hours to burn i can recommend it. Though the puzzle/minigame part isn't all that hard i got stuck on one, but that is probably the most divisive part of the game. Luckily there are only a few of those. Personally i liked the worldbuilding and how a highly advanced / a bit of cyperpunk like society has invaded the Mongolian Steppes. There is a whole interesting mystery plot about you and the robot lady you have in your house, but while that is interesting it's fairly disjointed. One thing of note is that you have to start a new game to get the tutorial and if you're a goof like me and selected continue it just drops you at be beginning of the game. For the price dependent on your budget i would say it is fair to wait for a sale as the game itself for me without the breaks i took was only around the 3 hour mark.

Очень классная задумка самой игры, и так же очень круто раскрыли персонажей. Иногда бесило то, что тебе нужно самому догадываться, что делать в квестах, и это можно скинуть на то, что игра 15-го года, но оно того стоит. Так как от части это игра моего детства, и для меня это была особенная игра, пройдя её, я ощутил все те эмоции, которые пережил мой отец. Это добавляет лично для меня ещё больше эмоций от этой игры. Так же мне понравился заложенный смысл в эту игру, очень круто!

Eigentlich ein schönes Spiel mit interessanter Geschichte. Aber diese extrem nervigen Minispiele machen die Stimmung kaputt und passen überhaupt nicht ins Spiel. Als hätte man hier versucht, es künstlich schwer zu machen. Das müsste aber nicht sein. Ich würde es gern einfach so spielen, ohne es ständig frustriert in die Ecke zu legen.

Dies ist eines dieser Spiele, die mich am Ende mit jeder Menge Fragezeichen zurücklassen - ist das jetzt schon zu Ende und was soll das alles? Grafisch schön gemacht. Die meisten der Rätsel sind logisch nachvollziehbar, bei zweien hat sich mir selbst mit ein wenig Hilfe der Sinn nicht erschlossen. Etwas nervig (spätestens nach dem zweiten) finde ich die "Würfel-Mini-Spiele", die für mein Gefühl eigentlich gar nicht ins restliche Gameplay und melancholische Feeling des Spiels passen. Alles in allem ein sehr surreales Spiel, mit einem Ende das mehr Fragen offen lässt, als man haben sollte. Kann man spielen, muss man aber nicht. Den Soundtrack finde ich gut gelungen, vor allem den Score, der ist wiederum fast Kinoreif wie ich finde.

[b]Cradle[/b] plaatst je in een zeer unieke wereld, maar vraagt ook veel van de speler wat betreft oplettendheid en geduld met de gameplay.

[h2]Het verhaal en de wereld[/h2] Je wordt wakker in een yurt in een desolaat Mongools landschap zonder herinneringen. Op tafel staat een vrouwelijke android die blijkt te zijn omgebouwd tot decoratiestuk. De sfeer in de game is uniek door de mix van traditionele elementen en geavanceerde technologie. Overal hangen nieuwsberichten en briefjes die de lore uitdiepen; de aandacht voor detail is hierbij indrukwekkend.

[h2]De gameplay[/h2] Het spel begeleidt je nauwgezet bij je hoofdtaken, zoals het repareren van de android. Hiervoor moet je naar een nabijgelegen pretpark voor een minigame met gekleurde blokken om onderdelen voor de android te verdienen. Hoewel de game rustig begint, ontaardt het al snel in chaos. Net als het verhaal echt interessant begint te worden, is het plotseling voorbij en krijg je de afsluitende film te zien.

This is a very conditional recommend, sort of a thumb sideways.

First off, this isn't the game's fault, but I played on Linux (Bazzite), and it's a pretty big headache because the mouse escapes with 2 monitors. You can get around it but you have to keep moving the mouse back to the top left corner. Performance also varied from fine to really bad, and took some restarts to get the game finished.

Now for the game itself: I would recommend if you like lonely, almost haunting experiences where you read scraps of historical notes and try to piece together what happened in a vast wasteland. The music is quite nice, and the visuals are pretty good.

The downsides are, there is a lot of jank. Controls can be very fiddly, things you carry appear at different distances, bump into things, and can be dropped. I spent a good bit of time scouring in and around the yurt to try to spot various objects, and it felt unpleasantly like pixel-hunting. There is also a lot of "ride the car / run to the place, then do it in reverse, have a conversation, repeat". It's not INTOLERABLE, and you have atmosphere, but it can be very slow at times.

The story is compelling but very piecemeal. I read all the scraps I found, but still apparently missed a fair number of notes and such. The ending is vague but after I read some in the discussion forum, I feel OK about it.

Voice acting is solid aside from the main character, and unfortunately he's the only one where you can't skip his voice lines.

Overall I may sound negative, but the game does have a unique, surreal vibe that's worth visiting if you have time and are into such things. I was left wishing I could have explored more of this strange world, like climbing a ladder to the power poles (the lower ladder is missing and it's tauntingly out of reach).

You know what? I just remembered this game after like 10 years. I was watching some dumb video on youtube and then this popped into my head. "You know that one game with the robot waif that was really short but had an interesting world."

So I popped on the store page to look for a sequel or anything else by the creators. There isn't, which is sad. I can't tell you anything about the game other than the fact that it laid dormant in my memory for about 10 years after playing it, so...

It's pretty good. It's like 5 dollars give it a try.

My recommendation is kind of half true at this point so you know.

First off, the optimization is kind of bad. Im on the highest settings, but have a high end pc and this games from 2015. It can stutter a lot as its like loading things in.
The game does look good and looks amazing for some things like certain items, but overall decent, especially for an indie game in that year.

The game doesnt really hold your hand too much, but its kind of a detriment as well.
Like the first task you have in the game involves gathering fruit, I literally could not find it on any of the trees, then looked it up online and looked some more and finally saw the one tree that had it. Maybe im just dumb, but they really should of put the fruit on more than one tree considering the size of the map..
Also, Im writing this as only 20 mins in and theres another item you need, its outside the house, but you dont know that, so you spend 10 mins looking around the house and get frustrated, then go outside for 5 minutes, eventually seeing it and going, oookayyyy...

The item interaction is annoying too. To use your item, lets say a knife to cut the fruit, you look at the fruit and left click. Simple enough? Sure, but if you try to use the knife on some other object you think it could work on, but it doesnt, the knife will just drop to the floor. It does this for every item and its annoying picking it back up, especially if its a smaller item like a lighter.
Though, sometimes it just tells you the item cant be used, its really inconsistent.

The world itself is very creative and looks great, so they definitely did good on the art direction. The voice acting for your character is really bland and just sounds like a random guy reading a script, his voice is good, just no emotion or anything.

I first saw Cradle on Steam back in 2015, and for whatever reason, it has been stuck in my mind all this time. So, 10 years after its release, I finally decided to play it. I wasn't expecting much, considering the mixed reviews. But what I found was a genuinely surprising narrative filled with mystery and intrigue.

Cradle is a slow game where most of the worldbuilding is presented through old newspapers, diaries, and posters. To fully comprehend the broader narrative, it's crucial to take your time and read them. The story itself is distinctive and feels like a breath of fresh air.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it delivers an extraordinary narrative; it has, for example, some pacing issues and repetitive gameplay/story patterns. Overall, it's a memorable world that provokes a peculiar atmosphere.

The atmospheric art style and worldbuilding complement the mysterious narrative. You're basically thrown into an unfamiliar world, so you need to be curious enough to uncover the truth. However, the story can be quite challenging to fully comprehend. Even if it's confusing, it has thematic moments that can be appreciated regardless.

The game itself is a puzzle adventure. It has a similar difficulty to the old-school point-and-click games. Objectives, for instance, can be to locate a niche/hidden item to progress. If you're not using a guide, it can be very challenging and feel unreasonably unfair at times. There is also a poorly implemented cube-based minigame that feels out of place. These are probably the reasons for the divided review score.

Despite Cradle's shortcomings, it's a charming world with quite a unique story, so if you enjoy experimental narratives, Cradle is certainly worth checking out.

Чудове та досить оригінальне зображення дистопії, яка задіває струни глибоко в душі, а також заставляє сіру речовину у верхній частині тіла активізуватися.

Цю коротеньку сюрреалістичну історію нас супроводжатимуть цікаві персонажі, мальовничий світ з продуманим лором, хороший саундтрек, душевна атмосфера, в наявності символізм та філософія. Єдине що сюди ніяк не вписується і псує враження - це секції з платформингом, в них немає нічого особливого та відчуваються вони досить чужерідно. Гадається вони мали розбавити геймплей, але вийшло так собі. Краще б розробники додали більше збиральництва(фермерства/мисливства/рибальства?), завдань з дослідження та взаємодії зі світом, головоломок, а ще розширили сюжет. Хоча навіть без цього вийшов дуже гідний твір від наших людей, який гріх не підтримати!

이야기의 전개 과정 중에
엉성한 미니 게임 파트를 억지로 삽입해서
어드벤처 장르의 순수한 재미를 망쳐 놓거나
굉장히 장황하고 초현실적인 설정을 대거 짜서 풀어 놓다가도
전개가 수습이 되지 않자 마지막에 가서
이야기를 적당히 하려다 대충 말아 버리는 등
제작사의 불성실함은 무례하게 느껴질 정도이다

정가에 구매할 가치는 없지만,
트레일러 영상을 보고 흥미가 동했다면
싼 값에는 체험해 볼만할 것이다

My recommendation is a little tepid. The game is beautifully rendered and populated, and I loved exploring and figuring out the story through the medium of postcards, newspapers, and other paper memorabilia. The setting's patina, an alternate history futuristic yet dystopian Mongolia, was ethereal and really captivated me. I love poking through an old house filled with knick-knacks and trinkets.

However the game lost much of its charm as soon as I started obeying it and performing its quests and dialogue, which effortlessly stripped the mystique and charm the opening exploration had built up. No longer was I piecing it together as much as being told.

The ending in particular left me feeling "Where is the rest of the game?" in a way that made me feel that I really had enjoyed it and wanted more, and exploring people's interpretations brought back some of the depth and allure. So I have to admit, I liked it well enough. Its just that it could have been a 10/10 and instead, its a 6/10.

* історія світу і сюжет захоплюють від початку і до кінця
* певною мірою хардкорна подача сюжету, треба багато читати, слухати і осмислювати прочитане і почуте, але це все [b]хочеться[/b] читати і слухати

A kockás játék ki tudja zökkenteni az embert a sztoriból, szerencsére rövidek.Ott jó lett volna valami, a környezetbe és a sztoriba is jobban passzoló elem, vagy akár el is hagyhatták volna. The premise of the game is that you wake up in a yurt somewhere in the Mongolian steppes, not remembering who you are or why you’re there. You find a broken robot woman in your yurt and decide to fix her to see if she can help you recover your memory. As you progress through the game, you learn more about yourself, the robot woman, and the catastrophic condition of humankind.

From the store page images and videos, you might get the sense that this is a (possibly large) open-world game, but it is not. The game takes place in two main locations, and walking to and from each location is a not-insignificant amount of the gameplay. This is also not a “choices matter” type of puzzle game, and the dialog you see in the videos are just scripted exposition dumps – your conversation choices don’t matter.

[b][h1]Why I [b]don’t[/b] recommend it:[/h1][/b]
The story of [u]Cradle[/u] is interesting but is poorly fleshed out. Far too much of the story has to be pieced together by the player across scattered papers and pages, some of which are difficult to locate, and some of which are not readily identifiable as interactive objects. The game would benefit from less “hinting” at the story and more “showing.” I would have also liked to see fewer exposition dumps, which were usually unclear, vague, or “mysterious,” which was a bit frustrating. I don’t want to read through long conversations and get little to nothing out of them. Maybe I wasn’t doing a good job piecing together the story on my own, but at some point the fault has to lay more on the game’s writing and less on me, the player. I’m up for mystery games where I have to put the clues together myself, but this game takes it too far.

In addition to the lackluster storytelling, I spent far too much time [i]traveling[/i] between locations or running around trying to figure out what the game wanted me to do. Thankfully, the game has a built-in “hint”/quest reminder mechanism so you can quickly see what it is you’re supposed to be doing (and I leaned on this quite heavily), but I was left hanging a lot when I understood what the game wanted from me but couldn’t figure out [i]how to accomplish the task[/i]. For example, one of the very first tasks the game gives you is to get some fruit out of some nearby trees. I tried multiple solutions but nothing worked. A guide on Steam said to pick up a stick and throw it at the fruit to knock them out, but I wasn’t able to interact with any of the sticks anywhere near the trees. Was I not finding the “right” stick? I have no idea. I found someone else with the same problem who said they were able to jump up and grab a fruit and use that one to throw it at another. This solution worked for me, but it’s frustrating that none of my other ideas worked. Why couldn’t I grab any of the sticks or rocks scattered nearby? These seemed like sensible options to me, but I wasn’t able (or allowed) to use them. This didn’t happen often, but the fact that it happened at all was problematic. As a player, I get frustrated that I’m feeling reduced to pixel-hunting, brute forcing, or seeing that none of the solutions I come up with worked to solve the puzzle.

TL;DR The story is meh, there’s too much exposition dumping, there’s way too much time spent walking between locations, the puzzles aren’t always clear and/or it isn’t clear how the player is expected to solve the puzzle

[*] The cube mini-game, which is something you will spend a lot of your time on, is universally reviled in the reviews for this game. I was no fan of them, either. It’s such a jarring switch to go from the yurt and the broken down “amusement park” to this cartoony, Minecraft-y cube mini-game. I honestly have no idea what the developers were thinking adding this to [u]Cradle[/u]. It’s such a strange choice and doesn’t fit the rest of the game at all.
[*] Story is good but not told well
[*] Too much exposition dumping – too much “tell,” not enough “show” (and sometimes not even enough “tell”)
[*] Borders on becoming a walking simulator. I’d go so far as to say I spent a third of my time playing (possibly more) just walking between locations.
[*] What the game wants you to do isn’t always clear. I couldn’t always tell right away what the puzzle was that it wanted me to do, and sometimes I couldn’t figure out how it wanted me to solve the puzzle. I’m under the impression that there were some things I was supposed to be able to do (like throwing the stick at the fruit, as I mentioned above) that just weren’t working for me. I’m not sure about that, though, but sometimes it felt that way.
[*] There were far too many times that the game would teach me how to do something for a puzzle (for example, the “genometer” or whatever it was called), and then never have me use it again. Given the prevalence of the flowers in the yurt (the ones pressed between glass you can see in my screenshots), I thought these were going to play a larger role in the game. They did not.
[*] The ending is abrupt and makes no sense. I had to read through discussions about the ending to make any sense of it. Even after reading some plausible fan theories, I still don't think it makes much sense. If the fan theories are correct, the developers needed to lengthen the game to spend more time on the story. I have so many unanswered questions still, and I was surprised the game ended where it did.

To play this game I had to dig up my old laptop, because on my current gaming PC I got crazy stutters ([strike]the cause of which I still don't know[/strike] see my UPD). However, I'm so happy I did! Even with lowered graphics and frame drops it was still an experience which will stick with me for long.

The emotional afterglow left by this game... I haven't experienced since I was a child.

UPD (IMPORTANT): finally! I found the issue with game freezes every 7 seconds or so (even in the menu). The reason was that game was polling all the USB devices and it didn't like my HyperX QuadCast micro... so I just disconnected it and freezes where gone. If you have same problem (graphic settings unrelated) - just disconnect all the USB devices other than mouse and keyboard (and if it helps connect them back one by one to find the culprit).

Ні, ну в цілому гра мені сподобалась, а особливо сюжет, от заради нього й варто проходити її, він так би мовити грамотно зроблений та й в цілому побудова світу та персонажів, також на рівні, але ♥♥♥♥♥ яке ж ублюдске керування, ну я хуєю...добре що це не шутер, та й якби звикнути можна, але ♥♥♥♥♥ оці кімнати з кубами, як же вони мене заїбали, ну просто чому їх не можна було зробити більш різноманітними, вони просто однакові, шукаєш кубики і кидаєш в потік - ммм дуже весело...

• Міні-ігри з кубиками не вписуються в загальну атмосферу. Навіть лорне пояснення Іди не рятує ситуацію.
• 🎮 Є підтримка геймпаду, але підказки — тільки для клавіатури. Це розчаровує. :(

This game is an authentic failure.
It has a couple of good things that keeps you playing waiting for something better, but the better never comes, instead it drops down completely.

First, the few positives.
The techno steppe\mongolian architecture is cool, but this is my fetish. A lot of the world reminds me of the art of Simon Stålenhag even if it is not in that magnitude.
The soundtrack is good.
I appreciate the fact that the slides are rideable, I try slides in every game I see one and if it doesn’t work I feel a bit sad. So that’s a positive.

Now for the rest (the bad).
I put spoilers in the review just because I hate them and I am coherent even if I disliked a game.

This game suffers from an incredible lack of vital informations both on the narrative and both in the main minigame.
You can notice a lot of negative reviews talking about how excruciating the cube minigame is and they are right, but for the wrong reason. It’s not a point of difficulty or the fact that they “don’t belong” in the genre, they are simply a waste of time because [spoiler]they are not tied to the narrative and till the end you’ll believe they are and this is extremely wrong[/spoiler].

Gameplay wise, outside the minigame, the “hint” tab function is not really “optional”, is mandatory because every single puzzle has at least a severe problem on communication. I am not talking about moon logic item combining, I don’t even know if it’s a lost in translation problem because some hints and some dialogue are basically unintelligible. When the “hints” that you shouldn’t read for the best experience are useless and sometimes complicate the situation without a reason, it’s bad, really bad for the genre.

Regarding the narrative, the game is a mess. It’s an amateurish job, I don’t care if you were the art director of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. you did (and do in this game) great art, but you are not good on telling stories. This game fails in the beginning, in the mid and ESPECIALLY in the end.

In the beginning, one of the biggest flaw of the narrative of the game is the so called “hook” in literature. The beginning of the game is extremely uninteresting, every little scrap of lore must be acquired from scraps of paper and connect the dots, not the most difficult thing to do but it is really jarring because, except for the robot, I have no idea why I am playing this game. Just a little bit of introduction would have been a better choice but whatever. Yes the mystery is why I have a robot in my hut, ok, but why should I care? What are the stakes of my character? "I have amnesia" is a extremely overused and trivial premise, it should be always tied to something else.

The MC voice actor which I presume is the dev is really inexpressive, Tommy Wiseau inexpressive, I mean I am no theatre kid but this is a really bad job.

I hate stories that don’t deliver in the end, asspulled deus ex machina and has time travel jumble to jusify an end. This game is a 3\3. The story as much fragmented as it can be is interesting, the mystery solving can really make you go through the awful puzzles but the final delivery is really horrible. There is no logic in what happens, no matter how much newspaper pieces you have found around the hut or the dome or the vicinity. No you can’t put a [spoiler]temporal anomaly at random[/spoiler] because you worked on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The main themes of the game are [spoiler]duplication of personalities, transfer of the human essence into robots and artificial personalities with a strange event that tied everything together[/spoiler]. Sorry, that’s an asspull out of nowhere, forced, and completely ruins the story and the main mistery of the game.

This game is a complete waste of (a short) time and it's really a shame because it has great visuals, music and (at least at the beginning) premises for a great story.

Не знаю як вам, мені одного цього образу уже достатньо, щоб закохатись в цю гру. Я наполегливо рекомендую її всім, кому вона може сподобатись - бо вона для них принесе багато.

На жаль, судячи по рейтингах, таких людей не так багато. Але на мій погляд це не стільки показник якості гри, як лімітованої вибірки авдиторії, якій вона зайде. Я вбачаю дві головні перешкоди успіху гри, про них пізніше, спершу хороше.

[h1]Деталізований, але не душний квест[/h1]

Гра — це досить класичний point & click-квест, керований від першої особи, а не курсором миші. Це наслідує позитивні сторони цього жанру - неспішне досліджування самобутнього світу, сповненого деталей дуже цікаве. Але разом з тим гра змогла уникнути багатьох його недоліків
- задачі тут досить логічні, мені ні разу не кортіло заглянути в проходження
- 3D-аналогу "піксельхантінгу" тут дуже мало, а той, що є - відбувається виключно в маленькій юрті, яку і так кортить дослідити зверху-донизу

Якщо спростити до базових механік, більшість завдань зводиться до "поговори з персонажем" або "знайди предмет". Проте займатися цим зовсім не нудно завдяки фантастичній атмосфері. Ретрофутуризм, контраст традицій та високої наукової фантастики з трансгуманізмом — це вибухова суміш. Вигадливий візуальний дизайн передає її бездоганно: високотехнологічна дівчина-андроїд контрастує з монгольською юртою, таємнича напіврозвалена споруда та кільця для літаючого трамвая мають тлом небо, наче намальоване аквареллю.

Музика тут зустрічається нечасто, але чудово доповнює загальну картину.

По факту, світ цієї гри досить дрібний, але дуже деталізований. В юрті, де гравець проведе більшу частину часу, сила-силенна газет, журналів, листів і листівок. Частина з них розвішана на стінах, частина просто скомкана на підлозі, частина недоступна до пізніших частин гри. Вони дуже органічно спонукають самостійно зануритись в експозицію, створюючи відчуття дослідження великого світу крізь призму його жителя на задвірках. Щось є дуже чарівне в тому, що важливий шматок лору можна прочитати в клапті газети, що лежить поруч з топкою для того щоб її розпалювати.

[h1]Фізичність інвентаря[/h1]
Гра дуже "фізична" – більшість об'єктів можна підняти, кинути, покрутити чи покласти в кишеню. Це створює відчуття взаємодії зі світом, але водночас система не завжди інтуїтивна. Я довго плутався, як правильно класти чи кидати предмети, додавати їх в інвентар.

Пройшовши гру, я з упевненістю скажу - найскладніше випробування – зварити рагу. Наповнити склянку водою непросто: спочатку я спробував поставити її під кран – вода протекла крізь дно. Використати кран, тримаючи склянку? "Неправильна комбінація". Лише потім з’ясувалося: спершу відкриваєш кран, потім береш склянку в руки (а не просто маєш у кишені), тоді використовуєш її на кран – і тільки так отримуєш воду.

Фрукти треба збити (легко), порізати (важче) – вони котяться зі столу швидше, ніж я встигаю взяти ніж. У підсумку ріжу прямо на підлозі. Далі – сіль. Кинути її в казан просто, але поставити назад – неможливо: персонаж вперто кидає її об стіну. Сподіваюся, більше вона мені не знадобиться.

[h1]Технічні проблеми[/h1]
Гра розроблена на дивному російському (на жаль) рушії. Цей рушій має помітні проблеми зі швидкодією. Ймовірно через нього в грі ліміт в 120 фпс, які регулярно просідають, вона не вміє в 4к.
Найбільша проблема — неприємне згладжування камери. Через нього рухи здаються рваними, наче миша час від часу перестає реагувати. На щастя, для цього є патч — знайдіть його в спільноті.

[h1]Українська локалізація[/h1]
Українська локалізація, а тим паче, озвучка - це завжди дуже приємно. Але нажаль текст відчувається перекладеним. В ньому часто використовуються переклади, що відрізняються від загальноприйнятих. Настільки що мені доводилось переключатись на англійську кілька разів, аби наприклад зрозуміти, що "грачанок" - це "glass", а гасло - це "password". Коротше, локалізатори випередили ШБТ на кілька років.
Озвучка зроблена акторами з приємними голосами, але з патологічною відсутністю будь-яких інтонацій. Мені як наче начитали рівним голосом аудіокнигу. Звісно, це дуже круто що озвучка є, і навіть в такому стані її бачити приємно. Але хотілось би кращого. Ну нічого, наче в цілому рухаємось в правильному напрямку.

[h1]Перешкода 1: Складна кінцівка[/h1]
В грі дуже складна для розуміння кінцівка, що по-суті не пропонує "простішого шару".

Щоб в принципі осягнути, що відбулось треба справді прочитати дуже багато текстового лору гри. Але навіть це дасть лиш базове уявлення. Насправді треба або довго аналізувати, або погортати форуми з аналізом від гравців що потратили дуже багато часу на розставляння все по поличках.

Враховуючи, що усе інше в грі в принципі, розжовується досить гарно, контраст це створює досить сильний. Через це у багатьох склалось враження, що вона скомкана і зроблена "нашвидкоруч". Я ж вважаю, що це не так. Автори просто справді очікують що їх гравці будуть гру детально аналізувати. Що досить смілива ставка навіть на 2015 рік.

Мені ж особисто здається, що коли гра тобі все пояснює і відповідає на всі твої питання, вона від цього лиш програє. Відчуття власного розуміння яке зв'являється через дотошне дослідження світу - дуже винагороджуюче. Воно перетворює час, потрачений на це як наче вартим того.

[h1]Перешкода 2: Кубики[/h1]
Проглядаючи відгуки, я бачу повальну критику аркадної міні-гри в віртуальній реальності, яку треба кілька разів проходити рухаючись по сюжету.

Вона представляє собою головоломку з а-ля майнкрафтними кубиками. В ній треба вишуковувати кубики правильного кольору і закидувати їх у висхідний потік, поки не набрати 30 штук. В процесі за вами слідують ворожі сутності, що заважають вам досягнути мети різними способами - вибухаючи, перетворюючи куби навколо в "броньовані" і т.д.

Нічого надзвичайно в ній нема, окремо таку гру я б не купував. Але вона цілком розбавляє типове квестове меланхолічне блукання локаціями. Якщо не мітити в ачівку, то вони проходяться досить просто і в мене особливо негативних емоцій не викликали.

Проблема кубиків в тому, що це досить неочікуваний елемент гри, який як наче вириває з квестового ігрового процесу. Люди що купували цю гру як "симулятор ходіння" дуже ймовірно не оцінять цієї вставки. Вони не є неймовірно захоплюючими, та вимагають певного відеоігрового досвіду, аби пройти їх без проблем. І якщо такого "аркадного" досвіду у гравця недостатньо, то ці елементи будуть буквально бісити, бо тратити на них багато часу не хочеться.

Втім, міні-гру можна пропустити: при кількох невдачах гра запитує: "Досить кубиків?" – і дає можливість відповісти "так" без наслідків.

Це нагадує Catherine, де історія розкривається через примітивну аркаду, що сама по собі не надто цікава, але працює в загальному контексті.

[h1]Підсумок[/h1]

Ця гра — атмосферний point & click-квест від першої особи з унікальним ретрофутуристичним дизайном, що поєднує традиції та наукову фантастику. Головні переваги:

✅ Логічні головоломки без зайвого ускладнення
✅ Деталізоване середовище, що органічно розповідає історію
✅ Фізична взаємодія з предметами для глибшого занурення
✅ Стильний візуал і музичний супровід

Втім, гра має й недоліки:

❌ Неінтуїтивна система взаємодії з предметами
❌ Технічні проблеми через застарілий рушій
❌ Складна кінцівка, яка вимагає глибокого аналізу
❌ Неочікувані аркадні вставки, що можуть вибити з ритму

Якщо вам подобаються неспішні, атмосферні ігри з глибоким лором і унікальним стилем — вона вам, ймовірно, сподобається. Для мене це була особлива знахідка.

I am currently in the process of playing. I really enjoy the atmosphere of the steppe and the emptiness around me. I was especially surprised and pleased by the opportunity to explore every corner of my house, where there is a lot of information about the game's world. The storytelling is very well-paced and not stressful. The story itself is quite interesting. Дуже змішані почуття від проекту. Загалом мені сподобалось. Файна озвучка, звуковий супровід, вигляд пейзажів та вигляд інтер'єру головної будівлі. I will just start with this game has its jank, and the mini game levels kinda pull me out every time. I honestly dreaded having to move those dang cubes. But man, the story was so satisfying! I loved every moment and I wanted to know every juicy detail. While the ending felt very rushed, there was a lot for me to contemplate. If you are looking for a good dystopian scifi story with some cool inventory puzzles, I cant recommend it enough to give this game a try.

Игра начинается как приключение. Далее, становится квестом. С очень кривым дизайном и программированием, и если "повезет", то кривым до непроходимости. Но сама история, хоть и вторичная, в антураже Монгольской степи, сделана талантливо. Ее хочется понять, найти ответы. Ровно до того момента, как игра делает третий поворот и.... становится каким-то упоротым платформером в декорациях 3D тетриса. Зачем? Хз.

Насправді цікава та медитативна гра. Сюжет та історія світу на гарному рівні, сам геймплей хоч і кривуватий, але достатній щоб з цікавістю пройти гру. У неї є свій стиль і його варто зацінити хоча би у рамках ознайомлення з українським геймдевом. Також радує ціна для москворилих, вони від цього підгорають.

I have kind of deja vu with this game because I'm not sure if I already played it years ago or not... it seems kinda familiar though and not sure why but it reminds me of Syberia games.
