Göz alıcı mekanlara ve fena sayılmayan bir hikayeye sahip. Tek beğenmediğim yanı koşu ve zıplama mekanikleri. Koşarken sanki hiç koşmuyormuş hissi veriyor. Zıplarken ise 1-2 cm falan zıplıyor. En ufak bir çıkıntıdan bile atlayamıyorsunuz. Keşke hiç zıplama animasyonu yapmasalarmış.

Итак, игра пройдена, платина выбита. Что по итогу?

Данная игра обладает неприлично приятным визуалом, что сразу же бросается в глаза и может приманить потенциального игрока еще на стадии просмотра скриншотов на странице в магазине (собственно, я так и купил её). Не зря в этом плане её сравнивают с небезызвестной BioShock Infinite.
Отличное использование звуковых эффектов для саспинса и давления на игрока. Да и заглавную тему игры можно добавить в свой плейлист, звучит красиво.

Походить и поглазеть - это основной геймплей данной игры. И я, покупая эту игру, знал, что меня ждет, поэтому остался полностью доволен. Скримеров здесь на пару раз, пару погонь, техники боя нет. Проходится за 5-9 часов.

Единственный серьезный минус - после игры остается слишком много вопросов по сюжету, так как на них не были получены ответы во время прохождения. При чем разработчики сами нагнали интриги, а потом оставили игроков с недовольными лицами, на которых прям написано "А че это было? А это? А вот это?". Обидно так-то.

В остальном - неспеша походить и почитать заметки. В принципе, единственная причина для покупки - желание словить визуальный оргазм и поглазеть на красивые локации огромного научно-исследовательского корабля 1897 года.

Что по цене - фулл-прайс заставляет задумываться над покупкой, но когда во время скидок цена падает до <100 рублей - ответ очевиден.

концепт подібного корабля і різних технологій в тому стилі виглядають дуже гарно

Если игра заставила меня обсуждать, что же в ней не так, возможно стоит отметить её положительно.

Плюсы:
- Ставьте озвучку от Game Voice, дело своё знают.
- Красивый арт-дизайн, наполнение визуальной составляющей радует глаз.
- Отличные завязки сюжетных мелочей.
- Минимум раздумий в интересном сетинге.

Минусы:
- Оптимизация отвратительная. Просадки и фризы аспекты геймплея.
- Игра забывает, какие завязки она дает.
- Записки не раскрывают мир.
- Персонажи не раскрыты.
- Конфликт персонажей не раскрыт.
- Концовка не даёт никаких ответов, даже примитивных.
- Классика, все закрыто, но тут начинается кат-сцена и бегут люди.

И самый главный пункт, ради которого можно рекомендовать игру и не даёт мне покоя, ради чего стоит написать отзыв.
Нераскрытые моменты:
- Зеленые метки, зачем и для чего.
- С чего всё началось.
- Как объясняется перемещение во времени.
- Почему ни одна звезда/актер из постеров не появляется.
- Шпионы, кто был, почему про них не говорят.
- Что движет Людвигом, откуда он знает имя ГГ.
- Почему сестра сидит в аквариуме.
- Луч смерти - мощное оружие сдерживания, больше ни слова.
- Что за человек в сторожке на входе в Гелиос.
- Почему отстранили Обри
- Почему хвалят Аду
- Почему не раскрыли Теслу
- Почему трое персонажей в одном месте
- Как Обри мог контролировать импульсы
- Почему Тесла не помешал Обри раньше и чем он занимался
- Что значит "Время - не река" "Мы пустили ей blood"

Вот столько открытых вопросов оставила игра.
Грустно, что игра не раскрывает практически ничего из того, что завязала.
Фантазируй, не будет тебе ответов. И продолжения думаю, тоже.

I don't know why I'm a walking sim apologist when they've only ever severely disappointed me (well save for a few exceptions). I think it's maybe those few times that have left me searching for another, or perhaps it's simply that I know it'll be an easy game to play and so I can turn off my brain (a combination of the two most likely). This game is basically if you remade Bioshock but worse in just about every way it can be. 4/10

Ich fand Close to the Sun wirklich toll. Das Spiel ist eine schöne kleine Perle weil vor allem die Atmosphäre schlichtweg super ist, mit einem Hauch von Grusel, der zwar subtil bleibt, aber dennoch packt. Wirklich Horror ist es nicht, aber das ist gar nicht schlimm. Man bekommt starke Bioshock Vibes. Die Panorama-Szenen, wie das prächtige Art-Deco-Theater oder die gigantische Weite der Helios, sind einfach bombastisch umgesetzt. Das alternative Tesla-Universum, das dem Spiel zugrunde liegt, gibt ihm einen ganz besonderen Flair. Ich hatte oft "Wow" Momente. Die Protagonistin ist ganz gut umgesetzt und man hat mit einer Figur Namens Aubrey, mit dem man durch Dialoge verbunden wird, wunderbare Dialoge. Die Soundkulisse ist hervorragend.
Trotzdem gibt es Kritikpunkte: Das Gegnerdesign fand ich etwas lieblos; es gibt nur wenige Gegner, die zudem billig wirken. Besonders die Verfolgungsszenen sind ein Ärgernis: Sie sind so perfekt getimt, dass man nur mit millisekündiger Präzision überleben kann. Jeder Fehltritt führt zu nervigem Trial-and-Error weil man direkt erwischt wird, was den Spielfluss bremst. Auch nervig ist die leicht holzige Steuerung. Man kann leider keine Tasten umlegen und Aktionen wie Leitern hochklettern ist immer mit einer langwierigen Animation verbunden. Und das Ende kam mir wirklich abrupt vor: Es gibt keine Auflösung, keinen Epilog – das Spiel hört einfach auf, was etwas enttäuscht. Insgesamt überwiegen aber die Stärken, und Close to the Sun ist für mich ein faszinierendes Abenteuer. Ich gebe dem Spiel eine sehr gut gemeinte 7,5 von 10. Hat Spaß gemacht.

El contexto en donde se desarrolla el juego es interesante, un gran barco de varios pisos, como vemos hoy en día pero con la mentalidad del Tesla y ambientada a fines del siglo XIX. La historia es algo que esta bien pero hasta ahí, creo que la falta de personajes hace que no se pueda ampliar mucho.
Es un juego que tiene toques de terror pero no da mucho miedo, ya que gran parte del barco esta iluminado y en ningún momento necesitas una linterna. A veces, hay situaciones donde tenés que correr pero tampoco son difíciles (para mí eso es para que el juego no sea un solo walking simulator). Hay algunos puzles pero no fáciles de resolver.
Para finalizar, es un juego, que si sos un persona que solo vas caminando y no te frenas a ver detalles o explorar a fondo, te lo pasas en pocas horas.

Визуально на самом деле довольно приятно, но на этом всё.
Сюжет: Есть некий интерес, но в глубину как-то не особо получилось.
Игровой процесс: Симулятор ходьбы с примесью хоррора, не более. При том в более активных моментах он довольно топорный.
Проходиться если просто идти по сюжету, не пытаться обследовать каждый угол и не искать всё что можно найти, скорее всего часа за 2,5-4.

Take some heavy inspiration from Bioshock & Wolfenstein, add in a female main character, take an overused Tesla-maniacal cliche, make it mainly a walking sim, and take away the ability to fight, and you pretty much have [b]Close to the Sun[/b].

The graphics are nicely done, the voice acting is well represented, and the story is quite interesting.
Graphics are purposely dark, as this is pushing more towards a horror game, and it keeps the intensity going.
Voice actors all really are enjoyable in my opinion, I tip my hat to them for excellent work.
The story, though somewhat cliche - "lab experiment gone wrong due to maniacal person wanting to rule the world" - is done well, the collectibles add to the story, and the world visibly has a lot of detail.
I enjoyed a lot of the game, though the biggest let-down was the chase scenes...
There are at least 4 chase scenes in this game, and as another reviewer mentioned, each time you stuff up, the chaser beats you to death, and you have to wait for that whole death scene to play out each time. A couple of these chase scenes are trial & error, so this became a little frustrating.

I would still recommend the game on a discount, or in a bundle, as I enjoyed my time overall.

Такая себе бродилка.
Сюжет и персонажи не зацепили от слова совсем.
Визуал вроде и хороший, но отдаёт некой пластмасовостью.
Пытались пугать громкими звуками, но самый страшный звук это открытие меню, потому что ну он через чур громкий и в одной главе сопровождающий персонаж по радио просто неимоверно орал, так что есть к звуковику вопросики. Ещё были погони, но они скорее раздражающие из-за формата одна ошибка и ты ошибся, так ещё и долгие анимации помирания ГГ. В общем, напугать не вышло. Счёт за отопление в январе при минус 30 всё ещё страшней.

虎头蛇尾的六分作，前期还能看着各种极乐城的既视感笑嘻嘻，救完A之后就全程司马脸打通，打到结局直接？？？
埋了的伏笔一个都没解释，游戏里的角色一个个在大喊“我懂了！”或者傻笑着和解，不是我请问了到底和解什么呢？！到底明白什么了卧槽？？开发商看这鸟结果直接开发别的新作去了，想弄明白到底发生啥了就等下辈子或者平行世界吧。
看在前期的氛围和场景做的不错，还有成就比较好打的份上给个六分吧，便宜cdk可以试试，但tbh很难推荐给任何人。

Интересная бродилка с элементами хоррора. Причем местами с очень даже пугающими сценами. Атмосфера, конечно же Биошок, но иногда чисто Prey, особенно когда эта потустороння атмосфера появляется, только тут она синего цвета. Какие же здесь встречаются красивые локации! Прям глас разуется. Сюжет, ни дать, ни взять, но в целом для игры такой продолжительности вполне даже интересный. С заделом на продолжение конечно же. 8 из 10. Всё таки можно было бы по длиннее сделать сюжет:-(

Close to the Sun - наративна гра на 6–7 годин із хорошим темпом і сильним початком. Сюжет намагається бути складним і закрученим, через що після проходження лишається багато запитань.

Геймплей зводиться до дослідження локацій, читання записок, простих головоломок і рідкісних сцен втечі. Лякає гра нечасто, але перша половина добре тримає атмосферу. Візуал і дизайн локацій залишають приємне враження.

Ближче до фіналу історія перевантажується, загальне розуміння подій втрачається, і гра починає трохи набридати

I didn't encounter any bugs during the playthrough, but one of the achievements just refused to pop up. The performance was mostly fine; there were freezes during area loading, and a couple of places where the frame rate dropped significantly.

Игра долго мне не давалась, но я ее наконец-то осилила.
По мне в игре только атмосфера от BioShock, в остальном это старая добрая хоррор бродилка. Игра неплохая, на один вечер - пройти и забыть. Может я слишком долго откладывала её в тёмный ящик, но удовольствия особо не испытала. Даже добавить нечего.
Берите по скидке если хочется пробежать какой-нибудь атмосферный хоррор вечерком.

Первая треть игры интригует. Авторы развешивают крючки и чеховские ружья, на которые в итоге ничего не вешают, а ружья не стреляют. Такое ощущение, что вывалив на игрока тонну экспозиции авторы просто не знали, что с ней дальше делать и как разгребать. И в итоге, две оставшиеся трети игры - банальное хождение по кишке с разной степенью унылости. В какой-то момент даже монстры нагоняют тоску и хочется уже поскорее закончить.

Идея амбициозная, реализация - такая себе. После финала масса вопросов. Но желания искать на них ответы вне игры нет никакого.

Тем не менее обзор положительный. За 82 рубля норм. В целом, на пару вечеров получить удовольствие можно. Брать дороже или тем более за фулл прайс крайне не рекомендую.

The beginning was the best part for me when you first enter the ship and you don't know what is going on, but sadly after a certain time the chapters just fly by and the story gets weirder (not understandable), but I still would recommend it to everyone, especially after I saw only 50% have completed chapter one.

On Xbox I was able to enjoy a really beautiful game. However on PC the graphics weren't loading and some important info were not readable, making the puzzles sometimes difficult to solve. Lots of crashes too.

I came to on a boat and went into a ships shining butthole where I found a lot of personal information in public places. Talked to some loonies got chased by a couple gas station zombies. I liked it and the game flew by. On sale I got it for 3.99. If you like science, madness, beautiful scenery, solving mysteries, puzzles, and some running for your life your in the right place. ♥ Have enjoyed the game and story; at some places it is poorly optimised, but what was the real downturn was the female characters’ written dialogue. We might say horrible. They speak as if they are not ladies but today’s girls who use the word “♥♥♥♥” at every opportunity. An immersion killer beyond words, just very poor dialogue overall for the girls.

The puzzles are very average, very simple, so that we might say a lot of space and very detailed environment is simply lost without adding more interesting or longer chained puzzles. A missed creative opportunity, considering they have fleshed out the environment with a pretty lovely 3D environment and details.

And there is an issue with properly lit areas. I had to adjust brightness to the full to see properly in some places, because some corners or shadowed areas are pitch black.

You can pick up newspapers or booklets to read, but it’s always the same thing. What’s the point of picking them up? No point at all. Allowing this in the opening scene(s) was good enough.

I would say game does not know: am I a horror? am I a puzzle? am I a walking sim? It's like it started as puzzle game, then suddenly decided to be a horror game and ended up being a walking sim. Gore is unnecessary, horror elements are unnecessary, should have stayed a puzzle game with "in Search of my sister and discovering what happened" and that's it. It would have been GOOD enough for atmospheric puzzle game.

What really stood out to me was the atmosphere and setting. The art direction is striking, the scale of the ship is impressive, and the sense of unease builds naturally as you move deeper inside. Gameplay is simple and mostly focused on exploration, but it works in service of the story. It’s a slow, immersive experience that’s easy to enjoy if you like story-driven games where mood, mystery, and worldbuilding come first.

- Графика. Часто имеются тёмные моменты, где вместо темноты мы видим чёрный. Переотражений тут не хватает. Даже умирал из-за того, что не видно куда бежать.
- Бесполезность записок. Их ценность около 0%. Раскрывают персонажей как в bioshock? нет. Дополняют историю как в bioshock? 50/50. Но зачастую это просто чертежи и заметки.
- Незакрытые гештальты. История раскидывает несколько нитей от которых ожидаешь чего-то. В итоге ты проходишь игру найдя все записки и не понимаешь когда ждать ответ, в титрах? В них тоже не оказалось ответов. А что нам дал сценарист в качестве ответа? [spoiler]"ЗАМЕТКИ СЕСТРЫ АДЫ ЭТО КЛЮЧ КО ВСЕМУ"[/spoiler] Это всё. Да, я тоже в шоке. Видимо сценарист понимает что мы умеем гуглить и не стал париться.

- Графика. О эти детализированные объекты, каждая мелочь прорисована достойно. Насыпали полигонами щедро. А какие локации, ммм. Для пущего кайфа выдали возможность прицеливания, ибо синтез детализированности и дизайна - главный [u]козырь[/u] этой игры!
- Оптимизация. Всё стабильно и плавно. Маленький нюанс в подгрузке локации и зависании на 1 сек.
- Атмосфера. [u]Виды невероятные[/u]! Здесь есть на что взглянуть.
- Хоррор? При игре ночью с наушниками, оно меня пугало. Да так, что дёргался при испуге. Были и ожидаемые моменты, но были и неожиданные. Меня [u]приятно удивил[/u] испуг в игре, имея опыт просмотра многих ужастиков и прохождения хоррор игр из-за которых не пугался очень давно.

No geral, considerando que paguei mais ou menos R$8 pelo jogo, não tenho reclamações, rendeu um bom entretenimento, recomendo!

Игра один сплошной кусок бага и фриза. Сюжет неплох, попытка в Bioshok и Prey (2017), но все же это попытка. И видно сразу, что игра планировалась чисто на консоли по тому как она оптимизирована. Уж слишком много танцев с бубном для игры, у который заурядный сюжет, и который даже никак не раскрывается по мере прохождения. Буквально нет никаких данных о мире и сеттинге, даже о том, [spoiler] что за утечка, почему она произошла, почему Людвиг сошел с ума, почему Обри возненавидел Аду [/spoiler] и тому подобное. Так много вопросов и так мало ответов. Игра невозможно ужасно лагает и подвисает. У меня среднее устройство, но даже на самых минимальных настройках игралось с раздражением и ненавистью ко всему живому. Обри заставлял доигрывать эту тягомотину, [spoiler] но в конце они решили его слить до злодея [/spoiler]. Еще и это клише с Людвигом. Если вы и [spoiler] убиваете персонажа, то убивайте до конца, не оставляя его на последний пук, который в конечном итоге оказался ненужным и до ужаса абсурдным [/spoiler].

Не советую брать, если хочется поиграть и погрузиться в мир. Для карточек пойдет. И строго покупать на распродажах. Игру вывозит оригинальная английская озвучка. Моя оценка - 3/10.

The game looks amazing, the story is really good. The only pain point of this game are the occasionally bad level design (levers that all look the same, spending time trying to open doors that are locked, etc...) and those chase scenes. Those chase scenes were just painful because you have to wait for the death animation to finish...

Although it might look like a budget Bioshock, that's only partially true since it plays like a walking simulator.

The graphics are really good (IMO), the ship is gorgeous to walk around.
Really the only thing not so good graphically speaking are the character models and since you don't interact with them all that much that's fine.

On the audio front everything is good as well.
The voice acting is good enough and the background music is nice and atmospheric.
Since it's still a walking simulator there isn't a plethora of sounds, but the ones that are here are also good.

Now the gameplay is where it gets interesting.. in a way.
About 90% of the game is a walking simulator in the truest sense of the word, you'll be doing a lot of relatively slow walking around.
The other 10% consists of flipping switches, I'd hesitate to call them puzzles, and run/chase sequences. Those are also the only 'action' you'll see in the game.

Now this game has been beyond 'inspired by' Bioshock.
The aesthetic and even the story is pretty much a carbon copy of Bioshock, down to the 'twist' that game has. Heck, even the logo is reminiscent of Bioshock.
If it had the gameplay to match, it really would've been a budget Bioshock.

Now we come to the usual part of the review where Steam's rating system is once again inadequate.
Would I recommend this game? Eh.. ish?
There is certainly fun to be had with walking around the ship and following the story, but there are certainly better walking simulators out there and I wouldn't really recommend it.
Neither would I warn people off if they can get it for a good price.
On a regular rating scale I'd give it a 6 or a 6.5, a YMMV score as it were.

3. Пределы гаммы можно было бы и побольше сделать. Игра на максимуме гаммы смотрится "приемлемо", хотя я бы ещё яркости добавил.

I only paid £3.19 for this and I knew it would be more like an interactive movie than a game, if you are expecting an action game/something like bioshock you will be disappointed. Story was ok, ran ok for an unreal game, didn't turn my gpu into a jet engine at least.

Fairly easy to get all achievements if that's your thing, you can select what chapter to play and collect anything you have missed.

This is a very, very soft recommendation - please read at least the short wrap-up in the last paragraphs before you buy.

A review for Close To The Sun can be shortened quite simple: Close To The Sun is a walking simulator and those basically consist of two components: World and Story. One of those this game does fantastically well, the other... not so much.

For Gameplay there isn't much to be said because, as mentioned: Walking Simulator. You walk. And while you walk you look at the pretty surroundings and follow the story the game provides. That's it. There is the odd "chase sequence" thrown in, but these basically boil down to "press space bar to jump over this obstacle". Plus they are so rare and inbetween that they feel kinda tacked on.

Let's see what the story provides then: And... Oh boy! Yep, it's not good. The basic ghist is close to what many of the earlier graphically impressive walking sims (think The Vanishing of Ethan Carter) did: you are in this curious but pretty location that for some reason is completely abandoned and have to find out what happened. And sadly this game doesn't do that very well. Tha basic setup is clear: You are Ada and got invited aboard the "Helios", a gigantic ship housing the greatest scientists known to man to do... science. But everyone is dead.

Of course, especially with the visuals this reminds a lot of Bioshock, but just rather badly concluded. You basically just wander from one section of the ship to the next, reading journals, having short conversations with your sister via magical steampunk smartphone without really getting any closer to the solution of the mystery. Until the last ten minutes of the game that is, where suddenly everything is unraveled. Badly. I don't want to spoil anything but... You know when horror movies just randomly drop a "It was aliens all along" in the last ten minutes even though none of the movie had anything even remotely to do with aliens? Yep, that's it.

Not helped is the fact that our main character(s) are as bland as they come - and despite the calendar saying it's 1897 they for some reason are talking like modern college girls. I know voice acting is hard, but when I hear "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, I can't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ believe it, like what the ♥♥♥♥ is going on", I'm not really thinking of the Gilded Age.

Let's go over towards world and visuals then: and contrasting with the story writing the game definitely impresses here. Again, Art Deco and mad science does lead to comparisions with the first Bioshock. And I'm inclined to say: Close To The Sun actually wins the race here. Yes, it doesn't have as much content, but what it has is absolutely drop-dead gorgeous! A ridicuously impressive amount of detail and sheer beauty await in this game, and despite the weak story you still want to always go on just to see the next level. They're varried enough design wise and usually open up with a grand and impressive view of an open space, followed by you taking in the details of the smaller rooms and sections as you explore.

Sadly here aswell there are some levels that feel a bit rushed towards the end. Plus some of the sections are just very underlit. Yeah, I know, dark and spooky, oh so scary, but why put all the work into those amazing sceneries when you can't really take them in? Finally they are missing a bit of those grand sceneries out of the windows that Bioshock had.

Still, every now and then I keep coming back to this game simply playing through my favourite chapters and enjoying the world.

So to wrap it all up: Don't buy this game if you expect any kind of interesting story (or the action elements of a Bioshock). You will just be disappointed.

However, if you enjoy Art Deco and just want to walk a bit through a beautifully crafted, atmoshperic world for a few hours this game might tickle your interest. It's on sale often enough and for five bucks you can't do much wrong. And still one wonders what could have been if they just had a better writer and weren't so rushed towards the end...

Just like its name, it came close to the sun, but it burned wayyyyy before.

You know those visually impressive Unreal Engine games you see in Next Fest that look triple A but the moment you see enemy animations, AI etc and you realize its one of those games made by 5 or less people? Yeah. Make no mistake, Close to the Sun is an indie but what sets it apart from those I guess is the art style/world design and music. The story is basic but pretty nice, should have had more puzzles but I guess it matches the 3-5 hour playtime of the game. The game runs very bad though, horribly optimized. Overall, a decent 6-7/10.

Close to the Sun is a really beautiful looking game. It's set in an alternate timeline of the late 1890's where Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison are in a tech war with each other. Tesla build a giant research ship called the Helios, hiring the greatest minds including your sister Ada, to run all kinds of technological experiments. And that's were things went horribly wrong.

Really loved the aesthetics. Being onboard the Helios was a sight to behold. If you like steampunk, you'll probably love the visuals of this game. Just ignore all the blood and dead bodies.. and body parts.. entrails... yeah, something really didn't go as planned over there.

Voice acting was pretty good. Loved the interactions with Aubrey. That added a bit of humor to it all.

Storywise, it started out very interesting. At the end I had more questions than answers though. Nothing was really explained too well.

As for gameplay, it's mainly a walking sim with a few very easy puzzles and a bunch of chase scenes. Personally, I don't like chase scenes, but the first few were actually very good. Later on they started to become a lot harder, but short and beatable with a little bit of trial and error.

10/10 on the visuals. Good story, weak ending.

Si me dijeran que es una historia del universo de bioshock me lo hubiera creido perfectamewnte.
La narrativa esta envuelta en ese mismo concepto mas steampunk pero con la diferencia de tener a muchos cientificos de renombre dentro de esta ficticia historia. La trama tambien engancha y cuando descubres que esta pasando el juego termina rapidamente. Asi que tampoco esperes que desarrolle el climax de la historia. Bastante cortito.

The game has only one big plus - visuals. I took quite a lot of screenshots for such a short game.

...which brings me directly to the cons. The game is only about 5 hours long - and that in that time it fails to show anything unique.
Maybe it has a good story? Spoiler: it doesn't. And it feels unfinished. Even if it starts ok, by the end of the game it all feels like nonsense. Well, maybe I'm overstating, since I played it two years ago and honestly don't remember much, but the developers definitely bit more than they could chew.

Without an engaging story everything else comes apart. The environment is not interactive at all, character movement feels like a roomba with camera on a stick. Puzzles are nothing to write home about.
The horror elements, well... They are. Nothing to say besides that.

So if you want a short and pretty looking story game with mild horror elements for one night, to turn your brain off and enjoy the show - you can buy this at a deep, deep discount. But if you expect a good adventure game with rewarding exploration, good writing, genuinely scary moments or at least good puzzles - you will be disappointed. Like I did.

This game was almost a great game, but there were many frustrations along the way that make it hard for me to recommend. The setting is intriguing and it has a great atmosphere, I was pulled in right away. However, the game feels unfinished. There are many subplots and mysteries introduced along the way that are never really involved, and the fate of some of the main characters is ambiguous. It feels like they intended for there to be more chapters or a sequel but never got around to it. The game is mostly a walking simulator with a few puzzles, however there are some sequences where you have to avoid or escape threats. These sequences are not well done, there is no stealth mechanic nor can you run, you can only walk. I got trapped in a loop where I was getting killed and it would restart me right next to the threat, so I could not escape getting killed repeatedly. There is no save system, so when something like this happens you have to restart the entire chapter, which in my case was over an hour of play lost (the chapters are uneven in length, some are short and some are long). I can tell a lot of creativity went into this game but it feels like it needed more time in the oven, to complete more of the mysteries in a satisfying way and improve some of the game mechanics like the lack of a save system (if the end of a chapter is the only save you get, several of the chapters need to be shorter).

So, this was recommended to me by a friend who has more of a love of the FPS genre, but this game is quite a divergent from that.

So as I just finished it recently, I want to keep this review fresh and in my mind. I even went back to get a few achievements that I missed, anyway.

So the game, despite having a kind of Bioshock feel (due to the time period and the kind of art deco setting of everything, but as it's Tesla's energy and stuff I guess it's...Tesla-punk?) the moment where you've gotten a mysterious letter from your sister, travel on a mysterious radio-controlled boat and then enter Helios 1, Tesla's ship that is filled with scientists of all kinds of professions working together, but as you arrive you soon learn that everything is FAR too quiet for a place filled with people. Not to mention no one to greet you as you arrive.

As you explore and use the transmitter your sister had sent you, you learn that an experiment has gone wrong. VERY wrong. So you have to explore whilst this place is locked down, people are dying and strange creatures materialise out of the aether!

What adds to the horror is that you have no weapons to fight back, much like Outlast, so all you can do is run from danger and try to outsmart your persuer, but when you don't you get a somewhat grisly ending (more so due to your imagination as this is in first person and you mostly hear what's happening to you) but the checkpoints are generous and there's no limit on retries, so you won't have to restart the level all the way from the beginning so even during those most frustrating moments, you don't get too stressed.

As you explore, there are a number of collectables in each chapter and the game remembers what ones you've found in case you want to replay these chapters to pick up everything (like I did off-stream) which is a massive headache saver! You can ever just exit the chapter there and don't need to finish it!

The title is a reference to Greek mythology, much like the names of the chapters and even the ship itself being named "Helios" though in this case it's about the story of Icarus, which fits the elements of the story that I won't spoil too much, but about the danger of flying too close to the sun.

I really do wish Nikola Tesla could've made more stuff, but that is the time-line we live in and would've been great if he wasn't hampered by Edison who was just a money grubbing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in those later years.

Regardless, the game was very enjoyable and at times I'd completely forgotten about the collectables as I got so engrossed in the story.

There are too many parts in the game that are very boring, just walking from place to place. When it does get exciting, the pace jumps so quickly that you have to replay that section numerous times before you get through. And this leads me to my MAJOR COMPLAINT, that the game saves between large sections of play (you can't save your play yourself) so that you have to REPLAY large sections if you do have to stop playing for any reason. All of this could easily have been amended had the developers even bothered.

Сама игра загружается и через 1-2 минуты просто вылетает. Как я понял из обсуждений на форумах и в стиме, она просто не оптимизирована под современные компы. На просторах интернета решения данной проблемы нет, а сами разрабы видимо игру чинить не будут.

Буду миллионной, которая скажет, что по атмосфере окружения игра напоминает Bioshock, но мне ещё немного в глаз попала Prey. Невероятно красивая игра (кроме моделек монстров и людей), так и хочется бросить и всё рассматривать.
Сюжет тоже имеется и, вроде бы, даже с НеОжИдАнНыМ поворотом, но он всё же как-то мимо меня прошёл, ибо понятно всё было с самого начала (привет, Flardex). Но больше всего мне понравился акцент Теслы, м-м-м, слушала бы и слушала :D Восхитительно!
Любителям линейной бродилки советую. Сначала думала, что будет совсем уж страшно, но нет, этим игра не удивила и даже булки не поджались, что меня всецело устроило.

Советую.

Плюсы.
Художники - дизайнеры молодцы - правда как я понимаю события происходят в 1897 году, а стиль очень похож на ар-деко 1920-1930 как в биошоке... Дизайн уровней вид имеет. 7,5 / 10

Я вообще редко обращаю внимание на аудиосоставляющую игр, есть и есть. Но тут саунд-дизайн, звуки, музыка и озвучка - очень хороши. Акцент когда Тесла говорит по английски - вообще сильно понравился. 10/10

Теперь минусы.
Мне нравятся симуляторы ходьбы и чтения записок - к этому я был готов, но реализация этого тут посредственная + попытки сделать, что то сверх этого было лишним.

1. Недожатость во всех аспектах:
- Геймплей средний (ну это не главное в ходилках-бродилках-читалках так что норм).
- Записки - ну средние, не дожато, что то прям вау интересного прочитать не получится. - Основной сюжет - в общем ближе к 2 часам игры понимаешь в чем тут суть, и что происходит. Ждешь в конце полного объяснения или крутого сюжетного поворота - но нет. Просто намек на продолжение которого вероятно не будет. К сожалению на самом деле, т.к. в общем атмосфера и задумка не плохая.

2. Недоделаность:
- Странный зеленый знак который встречается периодически на разных уровнях
- Момент во время игры подходя к местной карте ты видишь, что ты в двух местах сразу на ней подсвечен - видимо, что то должно было быть подвязано сюжетно-геймплейно. Вообще складывается впечатление, что игру переделывали несколько раз не понимая, чем она по итогу получится.

3. Есть игровые моменты где мы убегаем от злюки - зачем они это добавили в бродилку?

4. Есть моменты где убираем вещь в инвентарь, что бы потом воспользоваться ей, делается 1 раз за игру, выглядит инородно.

Дальше лютый спойлер:

[spoiler]Похоже не хватило денег. Если бы реализовали задумку с перепрохождением временной петли, попытками изменить ход будущего, и они не просто перезапускают петлю как в игре the forgotten city (очень ее советую) а оставляют след в каждом последующем перезапуске петли - было бы очень круто!

Момент когда ты сразу в нескольких местах, возможно это какие-то временные парадоксы - было бы круто их включить в геймплей, но дороже для производства.

Зеленый знак мог означать какие-то важные места при прохождении нового цикла.

А так вроде как циклов было много, а мы один толи разрываем, толи перезапускаем - не понятно в конце.

Вся эта беготня от злюк и мини загадки прикручены пятым колесом к телеге. На нормальную реализацию петли времени денег не хватило, а надо было геймплей как то заполнить[/spoiler]

Итого: лучше поиграть в что то другое. только от полной скуки можно посмотреть эту игру к сожалению. Потенциал был: интересный временной промежуток в котором происходит действие, крутые исторические личности, интересные первоначальные сюжетные задумки, хороший аудио и графический дизайн. Но в текущем состоянии иггра проходняк.

I had high hopes for this game that I got a while ago and finally installed. For many of the reasons already shared by others, I can't recommend this game. This game is Bioshock without 1) combat 2) RPG elements 3) character decisions 4) a well developed and/or deep story. There's not a lot left to enjoy. Even the story that we are told while crawling through this impossibly large ship isn't engaging. High concept without a lot of substance or resolution. Kinda like the X-Files series.

After the second contrived "run for your life" sequence I couldn't wait for this game to be over. Pacing is painfully slow until you randomly have to flee something trying to kill you. You learn the correct path to escape by trial and error. Your punishment for not guessing it correctly is to watch a VGA-esque NPC stab/impale you repeatedly. Saves are made at chapter ends and some ill-defined checkpoints. This mechanic is the reason why I got 19+ hours of "play" out of this game. I was so afraid I'd have to start a chapter over, I paused in the main menu overnight so I could finish the game with losing progress.

If you're a fan of the atmospheric horror genre, there have to be better options. Sorry

Great game. First person point of view. Voice acting too. Female protagonist.
Onboard a ship where a disaster has happened. Puzzles however are a little complicated from my knowledge and what I have read on forums too. The atmosphere is great from thunder, lightning, rain, and atmosphere aboard the ship in the different chapters.

some horror scenes, like when the maniac runs after you and you have to escape him before he stabs you to death, yes he does this if he catches you.

Achievements too. Gerat game. Give this a go if you haven't played it.

[i]Close To The Sun[/i] дуже хоче, щоб її сплутали з [i]BioShock[/i]. Вона вдає молодшого брата культової франшизи, позичивши одяг, стиль і навіть імітуючи поведінку — але в результаті може спромогтися лише на незграбне, поспішне і творчо збанкрутіле мавпування.

Те, що проєкт від [i]Storm in a Teacup[/i] елементарно [b]не працює[/b] без “танців із бубном”, що потребують копирсання в нетрях системних файлів і створення окремих скриптів, є іронічним резюме її сутності: недоладної, занедбаної — проте з невиправданою вимогою на претензійність.

🖼️ Єдиний елемент, що вдався грі непогано — візуальна естетика наукового ретрофутуризму. Місцями [i]Close To The Sun[/i] справді заворожує, хай і ходить тонкою межею між омажем і відвертим наслідуванням численних близьких за духом якісніших проєктів.

Власне, ця історія навряд буде для когось незнайомою чи новою: [b]революційні технології, що породили небачені індустріальні дива й реалізували донедавна недосяжні цивілізаційні амбіції людства, вийшли з ладу, виявившися надто експериментальними й нестабільними[/b] — розгрібай цю кашу, гравцю!

Попри клішованість сюжету, треба відзначити, що деякі його елементи все ж працюють, додаючи грі глибини й характеру — мені, до прикладу, сподобалося вплетення в наратив історичних персонажів на зразок Ніколи Тесли, Альберта Ейнштейна й навіть натяки на Джека Різника.

Але історії, побудовані на концепції часових аномалій, апріорі є хаотичнішими й складнішими у виконанні за будь-які інші: а тому маємо тонально розхитаний і місцями дірявий сюжет, повний логічних суперечностей, а також обірвану кінцівку з певним післясмаком незавершеності.

А щоб не звучати голослівно й упереджено, маленький приклад одного з сумнівних сюжетних рішень [i]Close To The Sun[/i], яке для мене геть знищило тональну притомність і ефект занурення.
[list][*][b]Декорації:[/b] “Геліос” — частково знищений корабель на карантині, заповнений розчленованими людськими тілами, що плавають у власній крові. Загадкові фігури з загрозливими намірами стежать за протагоністкою гри, Роуз, крізь затуманені вікна.
[*][b]Ситуація:[/b] експеримент із часовими маніпуляціями вийшов з-під контролю! Наслідки катастрофічні — ситуація стрімко погіршується й потребує невідкладного втручання ⚠️
[*][b]Задача:[/b] якомога скоріше знайти схований сестрою протагоністки, Адою, блокнот із розрахунками, що є ключем до нашого порятунку ⚠️[/list]

⚙️ Щодо технічного стану: [b]перший і останній патч[/b] для [i]Close To The Sun[/i] вийшов за 9 днів після виходу проєкту, 14 травня 2020 року — понад 5 років тому. При цьому невдовзі після релізу частина користувачів стала повідомляти про критичну несумісність процесорів Intel 10-го й 11-го поколінь із бібліотекою OpenSSL — із чим довелося мати справу й мені.

[b]За ці пів десятиліття патч, що розв’язував би цю проблему так і не з’явився[/b], а тому для того, щоб почати нову гру, необхідно глибоко пірнати в налаштування Windows і створювати спеціальну систему змінну, без якої [i]Close To The Sun[/i] елементарно не запускатиметься й “вилітатиме” з головного меню.

Дрібницею назвати це складно — гравці й дотепер, після п’яти років з релізу, зіштовхуються з OpenSSL-вразливістю, тоді як видавець чи не щомісяця рекламує [i]Close To The Sun[/i] у Центрі спільноти, анонсуючи розпродажі, участь в івентах чи нові проєкти.

🔧 Розібравшись із системними файлами й нарешті почавши гру, зустрінемо наступну її ваду: весь [b]ігролад[/b], схоже, загруз на стадії альфа-тестування й так і не просунувся далі — адже половина [b]фундаментальних[/b] механік працює тут із неймовірно натужним скреготом.

🏃 У грі, до прикладу, є [b]спринт[/b] — ну як, [i]номінально[/i] є. На практиці затримка клавіші бігу дає лише “символічний” приріст швидкості на 5–10%, що практично не впливає на сповільнений ігровий процес. Змінюється це лише на час декількох сюжетних втеч від переслідувачів, коли нам на хвилину-дві додають швидкості руху. За межами ж цих коротких скриптованих сцен “спринт” фактично є непомітним, а тому де-факто не виконує ніяку функцію.

🦵 [i]Close To The Sun[/i] також має так звану механіку так званих [b]стрибків[/b] при натисканні пробілу! Правда, наше вертикальне положення в просторі від цього не змінюється майже ні на сантиметр — через що буквально [u]жодну[/u] перешкоду (навіть електричний дріт, що лежить на землі) перескочити фізично неможливо.

Та не подумайте, що функція “стрибка” в [i]Close To The Sun[/i] просто марна й непотрібна — вона ще й [u]карає гравця[/u] за її використання.

Стрибаючи під час руху в тисячах ігор, ти інтуїтивно розраховуєш на прискорення свого пересування. Але не тут! “Стрибок” як з місця, так і в русі [b]повністю зупиняє персонажа[/b] — про що я дізнався, спробувавши плигнути під час запеклої втечі від переслідувача.

Враження від того, як ти, захлинаючись від страху, стрімголов утікаєш від небезпеки й відчайдушно стрибаєш, щоб… спинитись, як укопаний і бути вбитим — незабутні.

[h3]⚠️⚠️⚠️[/h3]
Можна було б побажати розробникам вдосконалюватися й досягати успіхів у роботі над майбутніми проєктами — проте цього я не лише не робитиму, а й побажаю протилежного. Тому що видавцем [i]Steel Seed[/i], нещодавнього проєкту [i]Storm in a Teacup[/i], стала [i]ESDigital Games[/i] — “кіпрсько-британська” компанія з питомо “кіпрським” складом команди: Олєґ і Алєксандр Кудішови, Євґєній Мєтляєв, Іван Соловйов та інші.

В цілому, за інших умов до гри було б легше ставитися поблажливіше: як до ідейно амбітного, хай і геть недосконалого експерименту, що хоче здаватися більшим і важливішим, ніж є насправді. Але в контексті понад п’яти років без оновлень, критичної технологічної вразливості, недопрацьованого ігроладу й безсоромного мімікрування під інші проєкти [b]про симпатію йтися не може.[/b]

[h3]Правда полягає в тому, що за пишним фасадом [i]Close To The Sun[/i] ховається те саме, що й за обшивкою напівзруйнованого “Геліоса”: погризені іржею опори, про[strike]йоб[/strike]боїни в корпусі й підтоплені надії на велич.[/h3]

Гра тріщить по швах і насилу працює, ставлячи гравця перед картиною в облізлій позолоченій оправі. Тобі вперто демонструють розкішні інтер’єри в стилі артдеко, натхнені культовими Крайслер-білдинг і Рокфеллер-центром: однак досить роззирнутись, і побачиш, що стоїш не в помпезній галереї, а в [b]музейному макеті.[/b] Заскленому, вкритому пилюкою, недобудованому, порожньому — й обвішаному табличками “НЕ ЧІПАТИ РУКАМИ”.

Шкода лише, що таку табличку не повісили на саму [i]Close To The Sun[/i], перш ніж ставити її на продаж.

Not much of a game, more a series of jump scares in an environment so dark you only know its a jump scare because of the sounds.

The game looks great and it reminds me of Bioshock. It would be great to play, but you can't customise the keyboard and it's not playable for me.

Das Spiel sieht Klasse aus und es erinnert mich an Bioshock. Es wäre bestimmt toll zu spielen, nur kann man die Tastatur nicht anpassen und es ist so für mich nicht spielbar.

wie ein schlechteres bioshock von einem (nikloa) tesla fanboy.

hätte potential gehabt, aber maaaaaan. man will einfach nur vorspulen.
immer gleiche verfolgungsjagden. möchtegern horror mit ein paar lächerlichen jumpscares und die story so flach wie ein kinderplanschbecken

Простое, короткое и довольно красивое приключение на пару вечеров в антураже альтернативного XIX века на борту гигантского корабля "Гелиос". Приятное музыкальное сопровождение, теслапанк и незамысловатый сюжет с набросками на продолжение - все это неплохо сочетается. Также порадовала [url=https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3169280220]русская озвучка от GamesVoice[/url]. Встретил парочку технических недоработок, но они несущественны.

Рекомендую к ознакомлению, со скидкой и без неё.

[b]Close To The Sun[/b] has scripted horror with lots of running and few turns, a good start for a game studio, but there needs to be something more in future to keep the studio alive.
