A really well crafted VN-point-and-click adventure hybrid thingy with beautiful artstyle.
It makes a really good job at making you feel like you're solving the case when in actuality its pretty linear, its not a bad thing as long as you dont expect replayability like there is with most VNs. The case solving and interrogation mini games are interesting especially the latter which does actually require some skill and thinking as well as affects how easily the case will unfold for you. Speaking of the case its really well crafted and avoids a lot of cliche plays you might easily predict from other media. Its really unique and the characters you meet are memorable and well motivated in their actions or decisions. Shout out to the amaizing VAs btw, they all did an amaizing job and make the characters feel even more real.
I should also point out that one or two puzzles have a low chance of breaking which sadly happened to me and destroyed my immersion as I had to go forum jumping.

Overall the game is great and even if you don't like VNs you might find this one a exception.
Anyway im off to buy the sequel and you should go try the demo :3

The trailer is quite a good representation.
Good atmosphere if you're in the mood. A film noir you can play. That's it. Other than that, it's a good point and click adventure game. There are two points in the game where you can get stuck due to random unclickable clicks. Over all, I think 7-8h of entertainment can be expected.

On mechanics side, you go through dialogue and some scenes, click a few things and that's it. Common point and click gaming. But, Chicken Police throws in an investigation mode, which is quite good in principle. You are police, so you choose from a few questions that help you gain trust of a suspect and unravel what they try to hide. Not sure it works too well, but it is a good take on gamifying point and click adventures that usually just allow you to click certain things, combine inventory items with the environment and oftentimes get quite unintuitive with the combinations they expect. So I think, this is a good take.

Another mechanic they brought in is combining items and cues, which is fun as well. It isn't used much, but it's also a good mechanic to draw conclusions. In it's linearity, the gameplay aspect is limited, but it's a good direction in my opinion.

Other than that. The story is good if the vibe appeals to you. It's sort of cliche, but also classic and the atmosphere is great. The credits explicitly bring up authors known for those stories, like Raymond Chandler and Haruki Murakami. Also, Spike Spiegel is quoted. So to me, that game feels like a work of passion.

The art & music are great, the twist with humans with animal heads gives the game it's unique charm.

In the end it's not all that deep, but a very enjoyable journey that I would recommend.

A nice mix of point-and-click and visual novel with a distinct art style. The story is not very original and is full of clichés, but engaging and well told. The soundtrack is excellent. The mix of humans with animals was something I had to adapt to, but you can't argue with art.

The only thing I didn't like is that you sometimes trigger an event while you investigate a location, which leads you to leave the location without any warning, and you can't go back to check out all available objects. It is nothing game-breaking, but if you want to see everything, this is frustrating. Nevertheless, if you like noir and detective games, maybe this one is for you.

If you enjoy noir, with some solid genre clichés, the idea of the “damned detective,” a rich universe built around the setting ([spoiler]the city, its history, the laws, the war, the fire[/spoiler]), stunning cinematography, and a beautiful soundtrack to accompany a strong overall story, then I definitely recommend it.

That said, it’s not without flaws. In some cases, the dialogues feel almost empty and nonsensical; the interview sections sometimes honestly make little sense. More than once, conversations come across as unrealistic and completely disconnected from what was previously said or what has already happened. The gameplay itself is practically minimal: investigations are fairly basic, aside from a few genuinely interesting puzzles. For the most part, it’s about clicking around to follow the story, which once you acquire the key piece of information ([spoiler]that Ibn has a twin in the asylum[/spoiler]) becomes quite predictable, and the player figures things out loooong before the so-called detectives do (though, to be fair, they’re kind of fools).

Overall, however, I still think it’s worth it. If you like the genre, it’s a great experience, and I’ll definitely try the other games set in this universe, also hoping that some of the open questions will eventually be answered: [spoiler]Why did Martin shoot Santino? What happened to Molly, and why did she leave with her daughter? What really happened during that bloody New Year’s Eve?[/spoiler]

Wenn du in erster Linie geniales Gameplay suchst, kannst du hier eigentlich gleich aufhören. Das findest du hier nicht. Aber wenn du auf tolle Stories und dichte Spielewelten stehst, dann gilt: Was wartest du noch? Hol dir Chicken Police – Paint it RED!

Mir wurde das Spiel als stark narratives Detektivspiel empfohlen. Und Mann bin ich bin ehrlich froh darüber, denn das Spiel hat mich vom Anfang bis zum Schluss bestens unterhalten. Ja, rein vom Gameplay her ist es deutlich näher an einer Visual Novel und wer das nicht mag, muss vielleicht tatsächlich einen Bogen darum machen. Ausser Screens absuchen, ein paar eher mühsame Minigames (inklusive Schiessereien), gelegentliche Befragungen mit der Wahl der richtigen Fragen und ein paar Mal Hinweise kombinieren ist da nicht viel Gameplay drin. Aber noch selten hat mich genau das so wenig gestört wie hier.

Das liegt an der grossartigen Geschichte und der genialen Atmosphäre, die von A bis Z stimmt. Zuvorderst ist da natürlich die spannende Detektivstory. Die ist toll geschrieben und selbst wenn ich den finalen Twist schon ein wenig kommen sah, war es einfach richtig gute Unterhaltung. Überhaupt ist das Writing genial. Jeder Dialog ist ein Genuss, mit viel Humor und mit wirklich interessanten Charakteren. Gerade auch die Dynamik zwischen den beiden Hauptfiguren ist einfach köstlich.

Das wird noch verstärkt durch den Fakt, dass alle Dialoge superb vertont sind. Die Sprecher sind absolut genial und zwar wirklich durchgehend bei allen Figuren. Das sorgte dafür, dass ich wirklich jedes Bisschen Dialog mitnehmen wollte und sicherheitshalber alles mehrfach anklickte, um auch ja nichts zu verpassen. Toll ist auch, wie die Sprecher die jeweiligen Tierarten einbringen. Ob zischende Schlange oder grummelige Eule, es passt einfach immer.

Und damit sind wir bei einem weiteren Clou des Spiels: der Spielewelt. Chicken Police spielt in einer fiktiven Welt, die von Tieren bevölkert wird. Und das ist nicht nur ein Gimmick, sondern wirklich durchdacht umgesetzt. Es ist eben nicht einfach unsere Welt mit Tieren statt Menschen, sondern hat eine tolle Tiefe mit logischen Themen für so eine Gesellschaft wie dem Zusammenleben von Raubtieren und Pflanzenfressern, Rassismus zwischen Spezies und gegenseitigen Vorurteilen. Das lässt einen auch wirklich in die Welt eintauchen und macht neugierig auf mehr.

Auch als Detective-Noir-Adventure trifft das Spiel den Ton perfekt, von der grummeligen Hauptfigur über die Locations bis hin zum gesamten Grafikstil. Das Spiel ist wirklich toll anzusehen. Dazu kommt ein perfekter Soundtrack, der alles stimmig untermalt. Alles in allem ergibt das rund acht bis vierzehn Stunden (je nachdem, wie exzessiv man alles auskostet) beste Unterhaltung.

Fazit: Wer auf gute Stories steht, dem kann ich Chicken Police – Paint it RED! nur von ganzem Herzen empfehlen. Und wer auch nur ein bisschen etwas für Krimis oder Detective-Geschichten übrig hat, für den ist das hier absolute Pflicht. Von mir gibt es eine absolute Weiterempfehlung.

Стильная, элегантная и неонуарная новелла-квест, отдающая классической ушедшей эпохой, поначалу даже появились ассоциации с каборе. Недурственный, пускай и простоватый сюжет с вполне себе адекватно воспринимающимся твистом, который меж тем был немного подпорчен дебильными перестрелками и явным закосом в сторону ТУПЫХ мужланов и порядочных женщин, вот в жизни только так и бывает, поверили, фем повесточка идёт, расступитесь, намек понят.

Но главная особенность игры - нарратив, музыка и ДИАЛОГИ, хоспаде они шикарны, озвучка как в кино, лучше только сам перевод на русский с умно выраженным акцентом и словами, воссозданными очень грамотно как будто бы из мира животных, в коем и происходит действие. Также здесь имеется лор с отсылками на исторические события и названия из ирл, правда, я не особо вчитывался, не до этого было.

А ведь есть ещё и 2 часть...

This. Is. PEAK!!! I just played an 80 minutes or so and I had a really really good time. The voiceovers, the jokes, the music. the atmosphere... Everything is perfect. It fits. You feel yourself... immersed back into the times. It's like an immersive movie where you decide how it goes. Sheerly from the first looks I recommend this very much. Oh and props to the friend who gifted me this. I had this thing in the wishlist for too darn long...

I'm not sure what I expected with this game but it wasn't that and I was hooked pretty early on.

The art style intrigued me but I'm not a fan of detective games or visual novel style narrative, Surprisingly this visual novel style detective game became my weekend obsession.

The characters are charming and voiced well, you really do feel like they all have their own caricature personalities and it works well for them as you begin to feel connected.

The banter and humour is actually pretty good, I spent most of my playthrough smirking and actually heavily exhaled a lot and laughed more than once.

The story is good if nothing special but it's the undertones that make the story memorable, the deep lore, how would racisim look in a world where chickens and tigers live in the same city as dogs and cats.

If you're interested go for it, the demo should tell you whether or not this is the game for you and I would suggest trying it even if you're completely unsure. I was.

Chicken Police makes a strong first impression, with fantastic art direction, voice acting, and music.

The game is set in a society comprised of different species of animal living in varying degrees of tension and harmony. The world building is interesting at first but wears thin the more you think about it. As a racial allegory it is quite clunky. The focus on predator-prey tensions is odd because basically the animal species are all the same -- animal heads with human bodies. There are parody elements but it doesn't fully commit to parody either. Ultimately it feels like they used animal stand-ins because the otherwise conventional hardboiled setting would have seemed far too on-the nose.

Mechanically, the gameplay is pretty much bog-standard point and click adventure. Additionally, it features interrogation sequences that bring to mind LA Noire but are executed far less successfully. Instead of LA Noire's Truth/Lie/Doubt system, you are presented with a set of options of statements to interrogate the character with, and are supposed to select the one that meets a vague objective. You then see points added or subtracted from your interrogation score, but their correlation with the option selected is typically unclear.

The plot is somewhat inscrutable -- it was unclear to me even at the end WHY Natasha was receiving the threatening messages that motivated the plot -- but that's also keeping in line with the Chandler books that inspired it. However, the major plot twist is telegraphed WAY too far in advance. Literally, it was obvious from the moment [spoiler]it was revealed that Ibn has a twin brother[/spoiler].

Overall: 3/5 -- positive but with major flaws

Интересная, увлекательная, забавная и где-то неожиданная история на 6-8 часов прохождения. Интересные, яркие персонажи, простенький сюжет, лор мира и просто прекрасная озвучка делают игру довольно качественной и стоящей своих денег. Если хочется скоротать 1-2 вечера под приятный нуарный детективчик, то эта игра идеально подойдет. Советую к покупке.

Chicken Police es un juego que entra por los ojos. El doblaje de voz, la música jazz y el estilo visual son una obra maestra. Realmente te sientes dentro de una película de cine negro de los años 40... hasta que llegas al final.

Aunque la investigación es sólida, el desenlace deja muchos cabos sueltos y situaciones que desafían la lógica (especialmente con ciertos personajes secundarios). Además, el juego te vende la fantasía del detective duro, pero mecánicamente eres un bibliotecario: mucho leer, cero disparar. Me quedé esperando todo el juego para usar la Thompson y nunca pasó.

Aún así, por la experiencia audiovisual y los diálogos, vale mucho la pena, especialmente en oferta.

Remek sztori és még remekebb csattanók. Ami a negyedik fal áttörését illeti, hát az legalább egy Deadpool szintű katarktikum volt. EZ a szintet már szinte kötelezően tanitani kéne. Elimerésem mendkinek aki részt vett az elkészitésébe. És ennek a játéknak a topp ajánlások között lenne a helye a Steamen.

HOLY GUACAMOLE THIS GAME IS PEAK. Initially, this game caught my attention because it's a noir styled detective story with animals that have humanoid bodies. I mean come on, who thinks of that. Because there are so many praises I could sing about this game, I am going to keep my review to three main points:

1. The Voice Acting
the voice acting in this game is stellar. I mean, genuinely some of the best voice acting I have ever heard in a game. Each character's voice matches perfectly with their character (which I would assume was extremely hard since we're dealing with animal people here). I remember at one point, one of the main characters hadn't been introduced yet, but she was described as having a voice that was very remarkable (paraphrasing). I thought in my head "they're setting up crazy expectations for this character I wonder if the voice actor will be able to pull it off." She did. The authority in each character's voice makes you almost forget they are talking animals entirely.

2. The Story
The story was hard to follow at first I will admit, but towards the end I couldn't get off of this game. In the beginning, you are being introduced to so many characters and events at once so it made it kind of difficult. It was like you were being caught up on someone's whole life, but after an hour of playing, I began to know every character by heart (and there's a lot of characters!) And once the people started falling into place, the story was absolutely captivating and moving. Of course, there are some noir detective cliches, but I will say the story alone would be enough for someone to buy this game.

3. The Characters
Each character in this game is so unique and dynamic in every possible way. You really get the sense that these characters have been surviving in Clawville for a long time, and they weren't just thrown together for the player to experience. It is so authentic and real. The designs of the characters couldn't have been done any better either. Everyone is just as they should look, talks just as they should talk, and acts as they should act.

Overall, Chicken Police is absolutely a memorable experience and definitely worth a try. I will sign praises about this game forever (p.s. I almost forgot to mention the soundtrack, but the music is absolutely fantastic as well)

Completely hooked me. The detective noir vibe is spot on and the writing is sharp and funny. I loved the banter between Sonny and Marty and how the game balances absurd animal characters with a genuinely gritty story. The art style is stunning and the voice acting really brings the world to life. It feels like playing through a weird, stylish crime novel and I was invested from start to finish.

This game opens with a quote from The Big Sleep, moves into some weird ♥♥♥♥ about how different races are fundamentally incompatible, and then the first line proper of the story is, “My office lock is a piece of ♥♥♥♥ if a dame can pick it.” At that stage I thought, jesus christ not another one, but I felt like I had to push through for science.

There’s something kind of viscerally horrifying to me about stock photos of women in lingerie with photorealistic animal heads. There’s something that feels uniquely degrading about it to me, especially since all the male characters get to be fully clothed in suits and coats. The Chandler epigraph is, “Dead bodies are heavier than broken hearts,” apparently from The Big Sleep. Here’s some Chandler quotes I would use as epigraphs:

– ‘Police business,’ he said almost gently, ‘is a hell of a problem. It’s a good deal like politics. It asks for the highest type of men, and there’s nothing in it to attract the highest type of men. So we have to work with what we get – and we get things like this.’ (Lady in the Lake, Ch 27)

– “The trouble with cops is not that they’re dumb or crooked or tough, but that they think just being a cop gives them a little something they didn’t have before. Maybe it did once, but not any more. They’re topped by too many smart minds.” (Farewell, My Lovely Ch 36)

– “In one way cops are all the same […] [They believe] We don’t have mobs and crime syndicates and goon squads because we have crooked politicians and their stooges in the City Hall and the legislatures. Crime isn’t a disease, it’s a symptom. Cops are like a doctor that gives you aspirin for a brain tumour, except that the cop would rather cure it with a blackjack.” (Farewell, My Lovely Ch 49)

Fun fact: If you read books you can actually find out what they’re about! Or, terrifyingly, maybe you can’t — hell knows there’s an enormous functional literacy problem right now, maybe that’s what this is.

Anyway, here’s my list of complaints, in a semi-live-blog form, as that was the only way I could force myself through this game:

- The mobster’s name is Hobart Wessler but everyone calls him by his mobster name which is “Ibn”and a) I guess we’re just casually accepting that Arabic names are inherently criminal and scary, cool cool not racist at all b) it’s so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid, it’s like calling someone named Eriksson “Sson” or Da Vinci “Da”. I can’t get over this, why is everyone walking around calling him Ibn???
--Omg, I think I just realized something. Do the writers not realize that when a historical figure’s name is like “Ibn al-Haytham” or “Ibn Sina” it’s a patronymic? Do they think that that’s their given name??? This is consuming me, it’s literally like telling someone they’re named “Da” after Da Vinci, omg.

- The writing is really, really clunky, in a way where the syntax and word use is all slightly off (it seems to confuse wife and fiance a lot), with lots of incorrect prepositions (‘you could see it for miles away’; ‘cops weren’t welcome on this place’) and straight grammatical errors (“The police is here”, its/it’s confusion). While there’s no inherent problem with non-native speakers writing in another language, if you don’t have a native-speaking editor somewhere in the process it can cause real issues; in this case it sometimes becomes hard to follow and always has a feeling of not quite saying what it meant to say. I found the interrogations to be completely incoherent, as it couldn’t properly communicate the tone of the different dialogue options and I felt like I was just choosing at random.

- Excess menus. Having to repeatedly click through the dialogue menu’s “talk” option to see full conversations is incredibly annoying. Why does the option to see interactables not stay activated? Why are the notebook, map, and inventory all in three separate menus when they could be so easily consolidated? Why can’t you click the icons on the map?
-
I found the sudden switch from noir to buddy cop to be a bizarre tone whiplash. Everyone’s talking about BOOZE and GUNS and VIOLENCE and then your partner joins and suddenly all the dialogue is just them making bad jokes? So weird.

-Game is so up its own ass. It is ENDLESS stupid banter between the detectives, and keeps smugly talking about how genre-savvy it is. Has the protag take the case over from a detective literally named “Philip Marlowe” who was too chickenshit (hur hur I’m a genius too) to finish it out. Maybe spend less time sniffing your own farts and more time actually reading the books.
-- I find mocking the Marlowe character for being drunk to be pretty tasteless. Chandler always struggled with both alcoholism and depression, but starting drinking to extreme excess after his wife died. IMO, the drinking was a kind of prolonged suicide; all accounts I’ve seen suggest his drinking got significantly worse after her death, but he’d also attempted when he realized she was dying. He died just 5 years after his wife, of kidney and vascular disease, both things associated with excessive alcohol consumption. The Long Goodbye takes alcoholism as a major theme and is clearly an exploration of Chandler’s own struggles and how they’re viewed socially.
---JFC, it ends with “Philip Marlowe” talking about how much he admires the protagonists. This is so cringey and pathetic.
No actual investigation, just running around talking to people and having to listen to the characters crow about how clever they are. I barely have to be here.

- Opposite problem of unskippable text, instead of pressing to autofill the text box it just skips the dialogue, so I keep accidentally skipping lines. End result is nonetheless me having to irritably sit and wait for dialogue to slowly scroll by.
Lots of birdtits and reptitits. I’m not surprised or anything, but it’s still really stupid.

-The “investigate” module asks such inspired questions as, “Who were the threats toward the woman getting threats directed at?” It’s like a reading quiz.
-- JFC in the third part the investigation is, “Who was it that you just spoke to who then tried to kill you?”

- Ugh, there’s a minigame that requires me to zip up a woman’s dress, so skeevy.

- The game occasionally gestures toward cops being corrupt, but it can’t commit — it likes the power too much. In fact, it goes a step further by making them celebrity cops everyone loves and is excited to see — you constantly get people fawning over how cool and coppish you are. I imagine this is the kind of thing MAGAts jerk off to.

- You know, Natasha was… weirdly absent from the story? Like, she never lies to you or turns out to be working against you in some way. The whole point of the “femme fatale” is that she has an agenda — you can never know if you can trust her or where she’ll turn up. But Natasha tells you she’s being blackmailed, it’s true, and then she vanishes until the last scene (in a way the game lampshades but never addresses). She has no idea what’s really going on and is completely unrelated to the plot and how it resolves. It’s super weird. She has no ulterior motives, and the whole point of the archetype is ulterior motives.
-- Wait… do the writers think the point of a “femme fatale” is that she kills someone? That’s so insanely stupid but I have a hunch it’s what’s going on.

Mr Act asked me if this breaks the streak of animal games being the good ones, but I don’t actually think it does, because this isn’t an animal game. In fact, this game is obsessed with the human body, especially the normative female body. In fact, I would call the consumption of the human body as an object the game’s main thematic fulcrum. The game simply could not exist as it does absent the human body.

Damn, what a great game.

I was actually about to stop playing immediately after starting, due to some odd pacing with the dialogue I was attributing to bugs, but I am so glad I didn't.

This universe that The Wild Gentlemen have built is incredibly interesting, and I hope that the studio will let us spend even more time here, not just with the Chicken Police in Clawville, but everywhere else! Maybe in different game genres altogether! Truly, there is so much potential.

[i]Chicken Police - Paint it RED![i] was an immensely fun first look into this universe, that did a really good job of explaining the world as I explored all the scenes, drawing connections to past events like wars, epidemics and the colonization of the World of Wilderness, while also telling a truly engaging noir mystery story filled with great, atmospheric music, memorable characters, and many *gasp*-worthy moments!

What an adventure this was. It nailed what it wanted to do, and that is to be an interactive detective noire movie. The writing, voice acting and pacing is perfect.

This is a basic click and point adventure. What makes it stand out is it great voicing and writing. Story is ok, but the World they create with all the animal people trying to live together is even better. My play time start to finish was 13 hours. I Found the game fun, but aggravating at times. puzzles were not to hard as long as you noted the clues. It is linear without any real choices that will change the story, at least none that I found in my one playthrough.

I feel a bit mean giving this a thumbs down - It's well-made, has a good story, good dialogue and good voice acting. However, I struggle to classify it as a "game"; it was (for me) 14 hours of clicking through dialogue to reveal the story. The only "game" elements were choosing the "correct" dialogue paths and trying to collect the achievements (I failed miserably) by endlessly clicking on everything and everyone until you ran out of dialogue options. I'd give it a score of 3 or perhaps 4 out of 10

故事没什么好说的，类似暴雨这样的警探故事，调查真相，人物质询。
关键在人物质询，你完全可以看到人物的犯罪心理，以及事情原由，人物的形象刻画很真实。

再说点额外内容，人物角色设计原画是由真人+动物园实拍动物头像图片合成实现，属于是降本增效到一定程度了，很难想象开发时资金有多困难。不过内容还是很不错的，值得游玩。

Cluck! Chicken Police is an incredibly well-made hidden gem of a noir-detective-adventure. The noir imagery and setting are immersive, only displaying color at the most appropriate times. The game's lore runs deep, even for a story that takes place over 24 in-game hours. The art style for both setting and characters is unique, combining realistic imagery with anthropomorphism. And the audio? Cluck! Audio design, music, and voice acting are superb, with some of the best dialogue I have seen and heard in an interactive fiction.

Don't sit this one out: Chicken Police is an incredibly well-made game.

Really fun noir detective style story with extremely in-depth world building and interesting characters. Make sure to interact with everything for codex entries and take your time! A few of the puzzles can be tricky with a mouse, and last I played there was a clock puzzle that was broken (The time solution is off by an hour if I remember correctly?) so no shame in looking up that one for help. Overall though this game was really fun!

Chicken Police intrigued me from the start due to its interesting premise: a noir detective story where all characters are animals. On paper a rather stupid idea, but as I watched the trailer and then played the game, I discovered a top notch voice acting and a gritty crime story, supported by a slick black and white presentation and a very good soundtrack.

Unfortunately after the first 2-3 hours I also understood that the gameplay did not vibe with me at all. The investigation, even though interesting, is pretty linear and guided, the player does not have to use his/her cunning to solve intricate puzzles/cases, and apart some one-to-one key interrogations, it is just a matter of clicking everywhere, possibly more than once on every hotspot (I hated this), and then fast travel to the next location.

I finished the game just because I was curious to see the ending, even if predictable, but I was bored from the lack of interactivity and challenge. This is a good game for novices that want to try the genre, or for someone like me that found the graphical style pretty interesting. Just keep in mind that when you'll take a look below the surface, you will not find that much, and that is why I can't recommend Chicken Police indiscriminately to anyone.

I had no idea what to expect when I first started playing other than a detective game and I'm actually blown away by how great the writing and design aesthetic of the game is. An entire world and cultural history of a fictional animal kingdom was packed into an (in-game) 48-hour mystery adventure and it was done phenomenally. I'm really surprised I hadn't heard about this game sooner because I love point-and-click mystery and adventure games and this one is one of the best I've ever encountered. The dialogue is charming, wild and real, especially between the cop duo. The voice acting was also extremely well done. The way Marty pronounces "Sonny" honestly became my favorite, I just love the way it sounded.

EDIT: Nevermind, right after leaving my original review I see there is a Chicken Police sequel! I am freaking out, I need to get it immediately.

Imagine Zootopia, but for adults and with a focus on the dualism prey-predator done a thousand times better; then, add to this a well-thought mistery to uncover step by step, an (fully dubbed!!) amazing cast of complex characters, and a sense of humour that suits perfectly the tone of the story; finally, just if this isn't enough for you, add to this also the perfect audio design and the perfect scenography, which shines in its use of colors just for specific situations. This is Chicken Police - paint it red!.
Maybe the only downside that I can find in this title is the gameplay: you are mostly watching a film honestly, especially the parts where you have to connect clues honestly feel more like a recap than anything, but to be fair this is a "film" worth playing, no doubt.

7 Stunden gute Unterhaltung

Ich liebe das Worldbuilding und die Charaktere, die Musik und den Artstyle.
Die Sprecher sind fantastisch, die Dialoge Genregerecht (mit einem Augenzwinkern, sehr klassisch und dennoch schillernd) (und das Passing ist super).
In jedem Detail steckt ganz ganz viel Liebe und Humor. Der Fall ist vielleicht nicht jedermanns Fall, aber ich bereue keine Minute und keinen Cent.

Falls mal ein Sequel oder Prequel, oder irgendetwas aus dem Cosmos erscheint bin ich gerne wieder dabei.

Игра добротная. И весьма выдержанная - оставляет после себя чувство лёгкого голода. Сложно сказать, хорошо это или плохо. С одной стороны, будто бы чего-то не хватило, каких-то деталей, многие персонажи, взаимоотношения с ними и между ними на мой взгляд недораскрыты, а некоторые и вовсе показали лишь поверхностными штрихами. Да и по лору остались некоторые вопросы. В частности, мне очень интересна биология всех этих зверей, почему только головы и хвосты (кроме насекомых, там ещё и руки), почему всё остальное человеческое, но, наверное, экскурса не будет даже во второй игре, на которую я возлагаю некоторые надежды по раскрытию мира и опять же персонажей. Остались некоторые вопросы и по самому сюжету, где-то можно было бы прикопаться и к детективной составляющей, и , может быть даже, к логике и психологии... В общем, можно было бы игру и подлиннее сделать, поглубже.
С другой стороны, сама история не затянута, не перегружена излишней драмой или чернухой, хоть и не заумна, но и не слишком очевидна (короче - сюжет может и простоват, но всё ещё добротный); сеттинг вполне понятно раскрывается через статьи в энциклопедии (пускай они практически и не играют роли в самой истории), сами персонажи - интересны, все (потому вдвойне жалко, что некоторые лишь косвенно затронуты). Понравился изящный юмор, а ещё респект за то, что практически на каждый предмет были прописаны дополнительные диалоги не только когда щёлкаешь по предмету несколько раз, но и когда повторно заходишь в локацию после некоторых изменений.
Отдельно хочу сказать, что русская локализация, может быть, какие-то шутки и игру слов и не смогла передать, но добавила своих и в каких-то моментах была даже удачней. На мой взгляд. Хоть и были опечаточки.
Геймплей - на любителей сюжета и повествования. Упор не на экшен или зубодробительные загадки на три дня, после которых уже забыл, что вообще вокруг происходило, так что игра подойдёт для тех, кому просто хочется расслабиться и без напряга получить удовольствие. Без моральных дилемм, скрипа извилин и напряжения в пальцах. По сути, самое сложное в игре - это поиск всех картин-книг-статей-тд для достижений и допросы, потому что даже с подсказками далеко не всегда очевидно, что нажимать. Но это не проблема, так как допросы спокойно переигрываются. А, ну и ещё одно единственное сохранение на каждую игру, так что если что где пропустил - уже пропустил)
Короче, в игру поиграть стоит.

Chicken Police - Paint it Red stumbles a bit at times, yet still manages to absolutely nail being a great gritty detective noir adventure. Chicken Police follows two well juxtaposed rooster cops - the grumpy soon-to-retire Sonny and the jovial gun-and-woman-loving Marty - as they scour the animal-filled city of Clawville for clues regarding the harassment of a famous starlet.

Despite being kind of a short game, so much personality bleeds out of this game. Stellar voice acting, strange but spectacular character art, and a strong commitment to the noir vibe helped sell this game to me. Still, it isn't the case there are no flaws. While the characters and the character interactions are pretty good, the actual case to be solved and the process of solving it wasn't too interesting. The most complex element is the interrogation gameplay, where you try to pick responses based on the characteristics of the interviewee. Any actual deduction isn't very complex and the twists are easy to foresee, and I know the name of the game is Chicken Police and not Chicken Detectives, but I was still a little disappointed.

Still, I think Chicken Police is a very impressive entry into the detective noir space and a decent enough story game you could finish in a night.

Very stylish and cool. Much more interesting that you may assume. I was especting absurdist comedy but got great earnest noir atmosphere, great writing with interesting character dynamic. And, of course, marvelously good voice performance.

Of course, this game doesn't take itself THAT serious - how could it - but it's humor is more in witty dialogs, rather than this whole animal situation. From strart to finish, it was really interesting to listen to.

However, I would say that it is just barely a game. You don't have to actually investigate anything, clueboard is more visual flair than actual detective challenge. Questioning minigames are interesting, but sometimes question points values that game awards you seems quite arbitrary and since there are no penalty for restarting it, it is quite easy to get best rating.

So I would really recommend this as great noir experience, but not as an interactive detective one.

Juego muy muy pero muy top. Es impresionante que con la cantidad de personajes que se incluyen en el juego, todos tengan una personalidad distinta y sean únicos sin ninguno estar en la mediocridad. La historia ademas acompaña muy bien, manteniendote enganchado en todo momento.

美術風格特別，真人麻豆+動物頭，全程配音，台詞幽默，翻譯也很不錯，
很多動物角度的梗，看的出製作組的用心。
可是劇情蠻好猜的，以為最後會有什麼反轉，[spoiler] 或是桑尼老婆會出場，結果都沒有[/spoiler]
老實說是一個有點可惜的遊戲。
而且不知道為什麼我開遊戲十分鐘就會超級想睡，玩到睡著好幾次，有失眠困擾來玩這款遊戲搞不好非常適合(?

i love the art style!
the characters have personality (and their own kind of humor) and nearly every piece of text in the game has a voiceover. even has a nice, suspenseful and easy to follow story too.

not a complex, hard or very long game by any means.

I'm disappointed.
The setting of the story is excellent: that of a typical hard-boiled novel. The carachters' personalities makes you feel involved and the animals chosen to represent them are ridicolously on point.
The problem is that in Chicken Police there's nothing to actually play. You click where you have to, go to places you're told to, ask questions you know you must make. No choice, no investigation. Even the deduction board moments in the game require no deduction; they're just recaps of the events you've witnessed. There's no connection to make.
At the beginning you're invited to also explore the secondary scenes of the story to question the side carachters, as to say there are details you don't want to miss. Turns out none of that is relevant for the success of the inquiry, and it feels like a huge waste of time.
Chicken police doesn't look like a detective game, it's more of a movie with first person view. It lacks something that can put the course of the events in the player's hands: puzzles to solve, brilliant solutions to find, or choices to make.

Just finished the game. First of all, I want to warn you: it's a nightmare for completitionists. There is so much hidden dialogue for everything and everyone, it will make you go crazy if you're dead-set on seeing everything.

The style and writing are top-tier and the characters are all very fleshed out cliches (which is good, because they are trying to be)

The story was interesting and while the player could see the reveal coming earlier than the characters, it was very well done and hidden up until then, with clues sprinkled about.

Some of the interactions felt extremely forced, like having to piece together clues to reiterate on what you've learned. The only real gameplay is the few riddles strewn about and the questioning of witnesses and suspects. That was the main fun. I was a little disappointed with the lack of usable items.

All in all: Very nice game I'll remember fondly. The characters were very memorable and in a few years I might revisit them in the second installment

故事本身没什么意思，但是风格和文本确实不错，或者说像看非常传统的侦探小说，故事要是能再打开一点，更多涉及世界观就好了。算是旁支远比主线有意思。玩法很奇怪，最后也没弄明白那个盘问除了纯穷举试错能有啥办法

[i]Chicken Police[/i] is perhaps the most well-done noir pastiche I've come across. It knows its genre. The writing is sharp. The production values, from music to voice work, are all lush. I saw the solution to the case coming from reasonably far away, but that didn't detract from my enjoyment. It's the journey to get there that's enjoyable. The lore uses the anthro setup to make social commentary far more elegantly than [i]Zootopia[/i]'s clumsy attempt.
