I used the committee of zero patch.

Its a very cool VN. Its has a psychological horror/horror theme. Its not very similar to steinsgate in tone.

imagine a xfiles episode directed by david lynch then adapted into a anime VN. Not the fun david lynch either, the gross wierd eraserhead one. The main character is a over the top otaku heel who is impossible to like most of the time. Most of the other characters are anime girls. If you can imagine enjoying that, its worth trying. Its also real long so good luck.

Takumi has to be the most insufferable main character I've ever had the displeasure of experiencing. By the second chapter, I was doing everything I could to make him suffer. By the time I completed the third, I was so done with him that I was speed-reading the text and mashing my space bar because I no longer cared to entertain his "delusions." Maybe there's some kind of justification for his pathetic behavior down the line, but I highly doubt there's anything in existence that could make me feel bad for him. I'm just gonna watch a video summary and get it over with.

Side note: "whose eyes are those eyes" is as scary/creepy as the goosebumps books I read in middle school. Perhaps even less so.

The game itself is good at conveying the sadness in the story, but it wasn't enough to make me break into tears. Don't get me wrong, though - the Sena Route is incredible, especially since it contains so much more SciADV stuff than romance. There are so many theories that could exist in there . The main character annoyed me at first but I don't mind it at all. Maybe the Yua Route is the only thing I would complain about it felt kinda weak compared to the others.
Also thanks to the CoZ patch its makes the experience much better

if you start playing this game you'll probably see the ratings for this and wonder why they're semi-mixed, compared to steins;gate. once the mystery starts, it's very intriguing, and very well executed.

they set up a lot of _very_ interesting ideas only for it to not really pay off in a satisfying way by the end. finding out the explanations for why everything was happening left me feeling more disappointed than satisfied. spoilers: [spoiler]i guessed the suwa and shogun plot twists pretty early on. the hazuki plot twist was fantastic though! one of the highlights of the story for me. everything connected in a satisfying way, with enough breadcrumbs where i feel you could work it out on your own.[/spoiler]

the main character makes it hard to push through a lot of the time. it never feels like they face his negative traits at all by the end, so him calling all women "♥♥♥♥♥♥" and hating society is never directly faced, and therefore never paid off. then why make him an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in the first place? it just makes it hard to read.

a lot of people compare it to neon genesis evangelion. the parallels aren't obvious at the start but they make themselves more clear. by the end, it's almost like they recklessly took some of NGE's ideas without understanding why certain aspects work. i'm not saying it's a copycat, but i am saying that the parallels are there and it makes this story's shortcomings stick out. particularly if you compare takumi and shinji. why even set up takumi as a mysoginist pervert if you aren't going to do anything with it.

it's not all bad! the execution is the highlight for sure. the voice acting, cutscenes, music, it's all top notch. the moment-to-moment writing is very good too. even when the content is too gory to show via CGs, the descriptions are enough to make you feel uneasy. let that be a content warning, if this game were to visually show what it describes, it would be banned in most countries. most of the really gory stuff isn't shown, only described to you.

i used the committee of zero patch on manjaro via proton. the patch is how most people recommend you experience this game, myself included

Very solid psychological horror story and good first entry into the SciAdv series. The vibes are similar to Evangelion and Monster so it being peak is a given. The biggest detractor is the main character who is hard to like most of the times and even downright vile other times.
I recommend installing the CoZ patch.

Other than the protaganist, the story was excellent. 10/10.
The protagonist is the most delusional, otaku, incel that ever lived on the planet. Which made it a difficult read for non-otakus when you were clearly supposed to self-insert into the character.
Regardless, it was still peak. But downgraded to a 8.5-9/10. Because Takumi is THAT unlikable.
I played using the CoZ patch so no comments on the translation.

BEFORE YOU START PLAYING: Make sure to install the Comittee of Zero patch, the steam version of chaos head has deleted scripts to censor the game for younger audiences, if you wish to get the full experience and better gameplay overall i highly suggest using the patch

A rather beginner friendly VN that involves an absolute thought provoking, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ story that can get soft gory at times, making you question if what you're seeing is reality or simply delusion.

MC can be pretty unlikable if you don't really fw an otaku-loser archetype. But if you can get past that, you're in for a ride.

The main character is awful, and yet, it's precisely because he's so awful that he's so perfect.

The first half of the story and perhaps even beyond that feels pretty slow, not gonna lie. But I think it's completely worth it in the end. Both on it's own, and as the basis of future Science Adventure VNs.

It's a common suggestion to make sure you use the Committee of Zero patches for these games. I'm not completely sure how necessary this is because I haven't tried playing without the patch personally, but the patch apparently fixes annoying bugs and ALLEGEDLY has a "better translation". I can't speak on any of that because I have no frame of reference, but I figured I should mention it.

I understand why people don't like this game. It's a little weird sometimes and the main protagonist is annoying at times, but personally, I do really like the game. Honestly the main character's personality in the end just make it funnier. The non-Committee of Zero patched translation is hot garbage but otherwise I like it.

Great game!
The writing could be better, but overall - the whole thing is great! 8/10!
Only cons I have:
- one of the main girls is there to support another girl's character and not much more.
- the protagonist's personality changes at the climax and it feels that it's not 'earned' enough.
- the protagonist is annoying throughout the first playthrough (for plot relevant reasons, but it's still annoying).

I've been a Steins;Gate anime fan for a while now and last summer during the record sale I finally decided I wanted to read the whole SciADV VN series. Bought the whole series and got started with the first entry: CHAOS;HEAD NOAH

I did my research and discovered that the community overwhelmingly considers the C;H N official translations to be bad. Therefor, I used the fantastic Committee of Zero translation patch. It not only improves the translations, but adds (removed) content too. Highly recommended.

CHAOS;HEAD NOAH is a totally different story compared to Steins;Gate. Do not expect a prequel or sequel: rather consider it a story that happens in the same universe, but more or less separately. Some small universe elements and details will be carried over to the S;G VN though. The theme is also very different: don't expect time travel or time lines, expect gore, murder, mental illness and sci-fi magic.

As soon as you get into the game, you notice that the protagonist, Nishijou Takumi, is not normal. Rather, he is a "weird otaku freak", as he calls himself often. He seems to be a very paranoid and sometimes even schizophrenic person, trying to flee from every situation he is in. In most stories, the protagonist will engage in the story; Takumi tries to escape the story. He would rather play games inside at his place and get ignored by the whole world: the only thing forcing him to go outside is school. In doing so, strange things start to happen all around him, involving him against his will. He gets in contact with mysterious "3D" (ie real) girls, mostly out of necessity. Is the world after him? Or is it all just his paranoia?

Takumi's character results in a very slow story: right when stuff is happening, Takumi will run away. This will feel pretty annoying and frustrating; you'll probably hate Takumi, at least in the beginning. He will get a little better later on in the story though and you'll start to slowly understand him and feel bad for him along the way. Finishing the story is a rewarding experience, with most mysteries solved at the end. In any way, consider this fact if you can't be asked to sit through a part of a story you don't like.

The VN features a common ending, 6 character endings, an alternative ending and a true ending. Reaching the true ending is recommended here, this ensures answers to most of the story's mysteries. The delusion triggers could be explained better however. It was confusing to me how much effect these actually had on the story at the start. But once I understood their workings, they really added some fun or disturbing scenes.

I personally hated Takumi at the start but I'm glad I got through with it: I soon grew fond of him and the other characters around him and started to care about the story. It took me about 84 hours to 100% the game (all achievements, all delusions, every ending). I took my time to take in all details.

One could call me a Chaos;Head fan now.

Went into this after STEINS;GATE, not really quite knowing what to expect. It's a decent story, definitely way more fan-sevicey than STEINS;GATE (admittedly, lots of stuff behind "positive" delusions you explicitly choose...), but it ramps up the horror as you progress, leading to tons of very tense, spooky moments. Didn't leave me with as much of an impact as STEINS;GATE did after finishing all the content, but it was still a decent time.

Make sure to play with the CoZ patch, does a whole bunch of cool stuff, fixes some translation errors, etc.

My dislike for Takumi is unfortunately too great. I know the story around him is good and interesting that’s why I finished it but it felt like torture. I ended up skipping all the cinematics and just reading the text in the backlog. Without that, I couldn’t have finished some parts. I know this is why the game is considered good, but I simply cannot stand him.

不论是共通、个人线还是真结局，男主都实打实是个垃圾。嘴臭且厌恶所有女性，但是又非常贪图她们的力量，想利用她们保护自己。相处模式就是他逃她追+他骂她爱。七海宝贝的手镯是她主动讨来的赠品；梢梢精神崩溃的声音传过来男主依旧嚎啕你别崩了我需要保护；梨深经历惨无人道的折磨，男主想的是虽然你很可怜但是你快点支楞起来救我…

大家都有悲惨的过去，也都在努力地前进，结果个人线一个比一个惨……梨深的女主定位仿佛只是为了加虐待的debuff，但我还是想说她真的真的真的很厉害。永不结束的折磨，永远伫立的手术台。可是即便如此，她还是把拯救将军的事情放在第一位。因为他曾经帮过自己，给过她一片蓝天和一个归处。所以即使拼上命，她也想回报这个奄奄一息的必死者。对我来说西条拓巳有且仅有一位，无法被替代，无法被继承。帮助梨深的，以及梨深帮助的，从来都是代号为【将军】的【西条拓巳】

全通下来我真的觉得可以让“优爱”当主角。和警察深度绑定+探查自身+顺藤摸瓜调查明面的希望科技和神光会，真实线再查暗线的300人委员会。男主丢给野吕濑，梨深作为桥梁接通现实和伪科学，众骑士在各线里获得自己的救赎顺便拯救/破坏一下世界，将军也能体验一下正常人的生活….

总的来讲推荐刑侦线，去掉男主会是一部不错的猎奇罪案作品

man this game was good, I just finished the true ending and completed everything and I am really satisfied with it
I played this game on a whim almost because I heard someone say good stuff about it and it did not disappoint

I got into this game because of Steins;Gate (I think as most people do) but had some apprehensions about it because of its anime that I watched a long time ago (2014 I think)
At that time I had just finished the Steins;Gate anime and wanted more stuff that revolved around it and heard it had some connections to Chaos;Head so I watched that but that was a mistake because it made me disregard this game when it finally got a proper localisation

I played the Steins;Gate VN before Chaos;Head which is unfortunate, because otherwise I wouldn't have missed all the little references to this game in it, and I did it only one or two years ago so it's still kind of fresh which makes me not really want to replay it for the sake of a couple tidbit of meta information about the Science Adventure series as a whole

I'm still debating between doing a quick run of Steins;Gate or jumping straight to Robotic;Notes, but I'm probably going to end up doing the latter

So to close out this "review", I really recommend this game especially if you liked Steins;Gate but were offput by the Chaos;Head anime like me and especially if you want to go deeper into the Science Adventure series this entry is absolutely mandatory

(quick side note, the short story named Chaos;Gate is a really cool 10 min read and features an encounter between Steins;Gate's protagonist and one of the girl in Chaos;Head)

(also if you want to have the best possible experience for this game I really really recommend the Committee of Zero patch for Chaos;Head Noah)

Pros:

Dark, disturbing psychological sci-fi story
Unique premise and perspective
Foundation for the SciAdv series

Cons:

Extremely slow pacing (first route is 30+ hours)
Very dated visuals and limited expressions

Fascinating in concept but underwhelming in execution. The second route redeemed the experience for me, but the time commitment is massive. Worth experiencing if you love SciAdv or slow-burn psychological VNs.

Possibly one of the most mental games to try convince someone to play, I played this after Steins;Gate wanting more SciADV and can confidently say this game is one the same level. It's a proper ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ at times and a very strange game at times but finishing all the routes I can only say that it was incredible - being able to see what it sets up for Steins;Gate and backward catching references felt great and moving forward to Robotics;Notes I can only appreciate the set up that Noah does even more. An unforgettable story and a wild introduction to what I suspect will be my favourite game series for a good while.

本作作为科学adv的开山之作，个人感觉还是比较夯的。虽然男主前期的性格实在不讨喜，非常欠揍，扣一分，但整个游戏剧情的神展开非常顶级，剧情铺垫也非常高的水准。然后各个结局都不是特别满意，扣一分。整体能给到8分的水平，略低与石头门本体。

另外说一下，科学adv的每一作，全成就都那么耗时间吗？我之前石头门本体全成就打完花了110个小时，这个混沌之脑我居然也打了70个小时才全成就，无敌多的选项，通过不断的回档记录然后再回档，人麻了呀。

Para ser la primera obra de esta franquicia que juego, me ha sorprendido gratamente. Se trata de una VN que plasma perfectamente el subgénero "Denpa", por lo que la forma de narrar los sucesos por parte del protagonista puede resultar bastante confusa en primera instancia. Es una historia psicológica que mezcla asesinatos en serie, conspiraciones científicas y una exploración bastante cruda de la mente del protagonista, el cual está absolutamente trastornado a todos los niveles, y también hay una cantidad decente de gore (eso a mi juicio, estando muy acostumbrado y siendo un amante de dicho subgénero, pero para alguien menos acostumbrado a tanta sangre igual es demasiado). En definitiva, no es para todo el mundo, pues no es una historia cómoda ni ligera, aún así la recomiendo.
