Such a well-made game, especially considering it was basically created by a solo dev. The story is engaging and rewards paying attention—some parts can be a bit confusing, but overall I really enjoyed it. I have to face the harsh reality and realize that despite JRPGs sounding fun they are just not for me. sometimes I have problems with AAA games going past the 50 hour mark and I shudder at the thought of this being longer with a turn-based combat that gets repetitive fairly early on. I recognize that there are smart and friendly choices like run-away function or stats-reset-after-each-encounter but it's simply not enough to keep my attention. there's the opportunity of the story to carry it but as it is usual with this genre I find the characters too adventurous, looking at the world through rose-colored glasses. in short, a fairy tale aimed at children rather than an epic high-fantasy

A great JRPG, with a very fun combat. I do think it has a rough start, but once you get the ball rolling, you can't stop playing. I especially love the combat. It felt a little unbalanced at first, but gets really easy when you understand the synergies (or if you [spoiler]dump all of your resources into Sienna[/spoiler]). I LOVE how you heal after every battle, it lets you go all out. There is are things that could be better *cough* sky armour combat *cough*. But is a overall a really good game 8/10. Highly recommend this to any JRPG fan.

Spoilers are full spoilers - Don't open it if you plan on playing it yourself. You should still be able to the details.

I the story is great. It's hard to give all 12 party members an equal amount of depth, so the optional party members really aren't that well developed. It's a shame, seeing as I'd love to know more about [spoiler]Raphael[/spoiler]'s past, given his involvement in the main story. The main story is also really good. There are times that feel a little forced, such as [spoiler]Prince Frederick's sacrifice[/spoiler]. Nothing in the story has built up to that and really wasn't good. Even lore wise, when in the beginning when [spoiler]Sienna joined the team to avoid fighting the thieves[/spoiler], it makes no sense knowing her rank in the past. A lot of these inconsistencies can be covered up by you the player though. I did love how the game ended. We got an [spoiler]open ending, and the story ends when this saga ends[/spoiler], so it really leaves you wanting more. I doubt we'll get a sequel though. Point is, you won't get bored of the story.

Also the existence of an Act 1 implies (⇒) the existence of an act 3. The same applies to [spoiler]act 4 ⇒ act 5[/spoiler] BUT THAT IS NOT THE CASE HERE SO WHY!?!?! I KNOW THIS IS DUMB BUT IT IRRITATES MORE THAT IT SHOULD!

The gameplay is very good. Firstly, the level design is great. Nothing to write home about, but it's really good. I don't appreciate the use of red herrings all over the place (from puzzles to empty alleys). It isn't too much that the world feels empty, but it makes me mad that I searching for nothing. I have problems with how the game does tutorials though. I hate how all tutorials are just information-dumped on to you. I genuinely forgot about the Reward Board until Act 3, just because I couldn't find it had. I HAD PRACTICALLY NO MONEY UNTIL I REMEMBERED IT. I please don't ever do this, if you are making a game. Show, don't tell.
The combat is the bread and butter of the gameplay. I love the combat. The overdrive bar really makes you improvise on the spot instead of relying on the same strategy. I might have to change the order of Victor's Buffs, or even decide between healing and going into overheat or lowering the overdrive bar and tanking the hit. It'll definitely keep you engaged in the combat. At least until you found a team that works and vertically invest into that team and almost forget about switching party members. I have this condition that makes me stick to one team I like throughout the whole game Glenn Sienna and Victor never left my party. I'm sure that there are other great builds like (I'm making up names here) Debuffs and DoTs, Crit Magic, or Force Weakness, but I am too Persona-brained that I just resort to physical because I have a consistent 95% crit rate on Sienna. If there were 2 teams and 2 battles, then I would use the other team more often. Here is my final team by the way:

Sienna ⇄ Ba'thraz (If Phys res, else crit)
Tank (Usually Raphael) ⇄ Any (I never swapped out my tank)
Victor ⇄ Amalia & Cres (if healing is needed, else buff)[/spoiler]

Sky Armours are bad. I don't like it. It fits really well with Glenn's whole story, but I really don't like the combat here. Just Charge (Ether Cannon) and then kill, that is it. Maybe debuffs and buffs but nothing else. I'm not a mech guy, but I really can't get attached to the mechs as much as I do with the characters.

The game felt difficult in the beginning. I loved having the need to use items, and feeling like every battle is a challenge. But as I stated previously, there is a point where you understand everything, it gets easy. Even the super boss (I think he is one, if he is called a [spoiler]God King[/spoiler]) is easy to beat. I don't think I even fell below 30% hp. I definitely did more damage that I should. Like 5000 per Sienna action (She moves fast), on bosses with max ~25000 hp. Yeah, no I out damage everything.

Aside from some QoL, such as easily moving crystals between equipment, the game is great! Any JRPG fan would love this game.

Самая проработанная РПГ, в которую я играл. Если оценивать все стороны игры, получается следующее:
1) Сюжет - 8/10 Интересный, проработанный, но местами казалось, что чем дальше развивался сюжет, тем больше он противоречил себе.
2) Персонажи - 8/10 Основные персонажи раскрыты отлично, но второстепенные иногда поступали однотипно и странно.
3) Визуальный стиль - 9/10 Очень проработанный, но в катсценах маловато анимации, при этом атаки во время геймплея анимированы превосходно.
4) Саундтрек - 9/10 Атмосферный и приятный.
5) Геймплей - 10/10 Многогранная боевая система, идеально сбалансированная боевая система (каждый сюжетный бой по мере продвижения по сюжету проходился тем, что давали по пути, игра не заставляла гриндить на одном месте, чтобы пройти определённый участок), огромная вариативность - как персонажей так и экипировки, и всевозможных активных и пассивных способностей. Обычно наивысшая оценка - это недостижимый идеал, однако геймплей здесь получился очень проработанным, а главное - ни разу за всё прохождение (со всеми достижениями) я даже не подумал, о том что мне стало скучно.

Подводя итоги, могу сказать, что игра получилась очень хорошей и проработанной (игру я прошёл за 70 часов, а дальше проходил на все достижения), рекомендую любителям РПГ игр!

剧情结局处理有点问题，整体上还是一个王道热血故事
全成就也还行，基本上正常打就能拿满，没有特别卡着的成就
战斗方面舍弃了打怪升级的战斗，提升全靠武器和装备，不用怎么刷也能打通
这点很不错，基本上只要把必要的几个技能和天赋点了，剩下的全部都点属性就行了
机制是传统的叠buff、上debuff，然后主c输出，很传统的风格
（后面入队的角色基本没什么用，从来没用过），负面效果我没用过，聊胜于无吧
天凯的战斗设计不行，怎么说，有种很混乱的感觉，也没啥优点，就是升2挡然后硬打（纯数值的美）
左上那个条其实也没必要太在意，对战斗影响不大，哪怕后面一直在红区也能打
整体上瑕不掩瑜吧，算是一部可圈可点的作品（感觉不如神之天平）

I was not a fan of the story. There were also several parts that felt like filler where the story was not moving forward in any meaningful way. The battle system was alright. Not my favorite but not terrible. It was cool to experience something new. Music was alright. The main issue I had was that the story was not nearly as good as what I heard from the reviews.

Non è assolutamente esente da difetti, ma Chained Echoes è un gioco solido che si fa apprezzare in quasi ogni sua parte: dalla trama al world building, dal combat system ai personaggi. Ognuna di queste parti brilla di luce propria e ognuna di esse ha delle ombre che, però, non oscurano questo bel titolo che, spero, nel suo seguito avrà tanto altro da dire e avrà limato le sue criticità.

Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, Expedition 33, and dare I say even some Baldur's Gate, all wrapped into a neat 16-bit JRPG style game with a great cast of characters, intriguing story, and superb combat system with a wide variety of mechanics to always keep things fresh. Nothing here feels repetitive or derivative. Sure, it's taken some inspiration but it's largely original, from the art-style to the music. I can't really fault anything so far. The lore is extensive too. I think the only time I was really invested in lore like this was with Funger, although this is not as deep or speculative. It's so wild everything flows so well. Whole teams with millions of dollars can't do this. How did one guy and his contributors manage? Blew threw Act I in three days and it's already cracked my top 15 list. This was made with so much heart and you can tell. Don't hesitate to try this out, honest.

　楽しめました。全実績解除を目指すならトレードは最後まで買わないほうがいいかも。未解放のトレードが何なのかわからなくなるので…

　JRPGです。
　いろんなゲームの影響が見えますが、特にゼノギアスオマージュが凄い。街並み（キスレブ、タムズ、シェバト、ゼボイム…）、ギア的なロボ（ギアバーラー的なものまである。教会が発掘作業をして…とかの件もそっくり）、ヒーラーが銃使いだったり枚挙にいとまがない。ストーリーラインにも…
　
[h2] □戦闘システム [/h2]
　サイドビュー方式の馴染み深い戦闘画面。戦闘後にはうれしい全回復。必殺技ゲージもボス戦では自動的に満タンスタートだったり「わざわざしなくていい苦労」をカットしようとしてくれるユーザビリティ。
　最大の特徴はオーバードライブゲージシステム。行動していくとゲージが溜まっていき、一定まで溜まるとプレイヤー有利のバフがかかります。ただ溜めすぎるとオーバーヒートを起こして不利になる。ちょうどいいところを維持しないといけないのですが、ランダム（か法則があるのかわかりませんが）に指定されるスキルを使うとゲージが下がるようになっていて、無駄行動になるけどゲージを維持するか、オーバーヒートしてもここはこの行動をするか、それとも交代（あらかじめ設定しておいた後衛と１ターンにつき１回ノータイムで交代できる）するか…と駆け引きが生じるようになってます。
　面白みのあるシステムではありました。特定の行動ばっかり連発させないようにするという。
　ただ終盤はプレイヤーサイドが強くなりすぎてボスが数回行動する前に終了するのでゲージとか関係なくなります。
　序盤は少ない選択肢でやりくりするのが楽しい。中盤はちょっとダルい。終盤はビルドが完成してきて無双感が出て楽しい。
　
　スカイアーマーというロボットに乗りこんで戦う戦闘もあります。ゼノギアスと同じで徒歩でロボ用の敵と戦うと瞬殺されます。
　パーツを交換していくあたりもオマージュを感じますが、こっちは強化の幅が狭いのでゲーム中与えられたもので戦う側面が強い。

[h2] □ストーリー [/h2]
　個人的にはよくも悪くもなかったかな。あまり言うとネタバレになるのであれですがストーリーラインにもゼノギアスのオマージュが感じられる。[spoiler] 最後は天地創造かなぁ… [/spoiler]
　正直なにやりたいのかよくわからないキャラが結構いて、物語の都合でどんどん捌けていく。主人公側はまだ心情描写とかがされるのでいいんですがそうでない敵サイドは練習の足りない演劇を見てるような感覚に陥る。
　ただ世界設定とかはかなり頑張ってる印象で、前史なんかもいい感じ…なんですが、全てがテキストベースなのでちょっと想像がつかない部分もある。そこで専用の絵を出してくれたらすごくイメージしやすいんだけどな、という場面が多い。そこまで世界観にリソースは割けないでしょうがあったら嬉しかったな。
　特に舞台は世界のほんの一大陸で、頻繁に海外の国の名前が出るので何かしら画として出してくれたらなぁ…

[h2] -装備強化周りのシステム[/h2]
　ここだけは許せない。他の部分は快適にプレイできるよう結構配慮が行き届いてるのに装備強化周りだけあまりに杜撰。
　まずクリスタル。FF7のマテリア…というよりはモンハンの装飾品のようなシステムがあります。武器防具にスロットがあり、そこに収まるようにスキルのついたクリスタルをはめこんでいく。
　このクリスタル自体は良い。フィールドに散らばる結晶から回収する際にランダム要素がありハクスラ的なビルドが楽しめる。
　クリスタルは合成していくことで強くできます。純度、レベル、スロット数の３要素があり、手持ちをどう組み合わせて小さくレベルの高いクリスタルを作っていくかという計算も楽しいし、ビルドが完成していく終盤には努力のかいあって無双できます。

　では何が問題なのか。
１，クリスタルは鍛冶台でないと脱着できない。
２，個別に外すコマンドがない。その装備についているものを全部外す以外の選択肢がない。
３，セットするとクリスタルスロットの合計数しか表示されない。どのスキルが何スロット占有してるかわからない。
４，「武器にセットする」「防具にセットする」「武器から外す」「防具から外す」が別メニュー。例えば新しい武器に今の武器のクリスタルを付け替えるには「武器から外す」で前の武器から外して、鍛冶台メニューに戻って「武器にセットする」を選んで新しい武器にセットする。武器防具で別れてる理由もセット画面で外せない理由もわからない。ファミコンか？

　あとこれはわがままですが、
５，最初の方に少ない選択肢で作ったクリスタルは強化が中途半端に終わり、素材にも使えない。安くても売れたり、何か別のシステムに使えればいいのに。
６，3スロット占有するクリスタルは流石にいらなすぎる。装備が未強化だとはめられないし、強化しても3スキル載せるためには1、２スロットのものしか使えない。

　願わくばキャラごとに管理したかった。FF7のマテリア画面が想像しやすいかな。同じ画面で武器防具につけはずしさせてほしい。今の仕様だととにかく使いづらすぎる。

　さらに！　
　武器防具は未強化だと2スロット、2回強化でき、最大4スロットになりステータスも1ランク上の装備くらいまであがります。
　ということは…新しいダンジョンで宝箱から1ランク上の新しい装備が出てくる、このRPGをやっていて一番楽しい装備更新の時間が全くうれしくなくなるわけです。
　なぜならばステータス的には同等だし、スロット数は2なので今つけてるクリスタルは強化しきるまでつけられない…それ以前に前述したように[b] 「鍛冶台でないとクリスタルの脱着ができない」 [/b]ので、その場で装備更新はできないのです。鍛冶台はダンジョン中いきなり置かれてたりもしますが、そんなに頻繁には見ません。
ダンジョンを抜けて次の街、手に入れた装備を店売りしている商人の横でやっと見つけた時の絶望感！
　皆さんにも味わっていただきたい。
　どうしてもダンジョンで装備を手に入れる喜びを味わいたいならクリスタルをつけないで未強化で進めるという手もあります。実際クリスタル付け外しがめちゃくちゃ面倒なのであり。
　せめてメニュー画面からクリスタルの付け外しだけでもさせてくれたら全然違ったのになぁ…

　と、そこだけはストレスなのですがそれ以外は快適。おすすめのゲームです。

A fun overall experience, here's the breakdown:

Pros:

- fully healed between combats - focus on the strategy, not the item management
- A lot of side quests and side objectives to keep you engaged (i'm objective driven, it makes my brain go BRRR)
- Adapt-your-challenge (Higher/lower health for enemies, larger smaller overdrive, etc)
- Hidden secrets that are not-too-obvious but not-too-hidden too (a lot of hints to guide you)

Meh:

- You only need to focus on 4 characters: 1 support/buffs/debuffs, 1 mage, 1 phys damage, 1 healer, makes the 12 playable characters feels useless (I never used the character swap tbh)
- Crystal system starts interesting, quickly becomes cubbersome (and makes the game easy, see cons)
- items in inventory are mostly useless - I kept them for most of the playthrough and RARELY used any items
- As a completionist-minded individual, I got triggered that most parts of the billboard were not completable until much later in the adventure (without any hints of _when_ you can do these) -> Making it a backtracking game every single chapter you complete.

Cons:

- Crystal system makes the game very easy - it feels like it was balanced without crystals in mind
- Mech combats are just annoying (Personnal opinion)
- I hate the overdrive bar thingy, it's RNG and swap-oriented making your strategy RNG and swap-oriented (unless you ignore it and go with the debuff it gives you in the red)

Боёвка стандартная для жанра, но показалась простоватой, под конец немного душит перемещать камни из предыдущего грейда оружия и брони в новый, где-то на 2/3 игры я на это забил и переставился только на финальный бой.
Кстати о нём, вот он достаточно душный( меха-часть), ощущение, что пройти можно только через одну стратегию( Накидывать миссы на ваншотный удар босса, остальное танчить ). Пост гейм присутствует, но меня на него уже не хватило. В целом очень рекомендую!

Klassisches Spiel in seinem Genre, was eine interessante Geschichte erzählt und die Charaktere finde ich ebenso gut geschrieben und bringen auch einen sehr angenehmen Humor mit. Die Idee mit den Himmelsrüstungen finde ich gut umgesetzt, ohne das es penetrant wird. Lediglich das Ende könnte man eventuell kritisieren, was ich persönlich aber gar nicht so schlecht gefunden habe. Zusätzlich muss man aber erwähnen, dass dieses Spiel von einem einzigen Entwickler veröffentlich worden ist und umso größer mein Respekt!

2DドットデザインのRPG。傭兵団の一員だった主人公が世界の命運に巻き込まれていく。

・GOOD
・シナリオ・キャラ：シナリオはJRPGでも見るような設定や展開でしたが登場人物が続々と登場してきたり敵勢力も色々出てきて面白かった。敵か味方が読めないキャラもいたり登場人物も退場しまくるので話の展開が退屈じゃなかったです。仲間キャラも誰が仲間になるのかあまり読めないのでワクワクしました。
・サイドクエスト：今作はメインクエストの他に寄り道要素としてサイドクエストが存在しますが、総数が10も無いくらいです。しかし、内容がシナリオの根幹に繋がるものだったりする濃いものなので面白かったです。他のゲームであるようなお使いクエストは無くあくまで本筋とは外れるけども重要なシナリオであるという作り方は非常に良かったです。
・戦闘バランス：今作はターンベースRPGですが、デブ・デバフを意識して状態異常を継続させるという戦い方を基本にオーバードライブゲージというものを意識しながらスキルを使用していくというもので単調になりにくいのは良かったです。それでも結構手こずったりするのでバランスもちょうど良い感じでした。

・BAD
・クリスタル：装備を強化するためにはめ込む強化要素としてフィールドで採取するクリスタルという要素がありますが正直もっとシンプルで良かったと思います。装備のスロットはどうやっても４つが最大であるのに対し、クリスタルのスロットはランダムで１～３あるという感じなので結局スロット１のクリスタルしか取らなくなるだけであり最大強化するまでも面倒なのでやりこみ要素というのは理解できますがスロットの大きさくらいは固定で良かったと思います。
・戦えない敵ボス：本作は結構敵幹部やモンスターが出てきますが、個人的には全員と一度は戦いたかったなと思いました。都合上、シナリオ上で処理される敵幹部やモンスターがいたのでそいつらとも手合わせしたかったので残念でした。

・総評・
シナリオは王道でありながらえぐい話もあったり、登場人物のほとんどが退場したりとハードな内容で先の展開が気になる面白い作品でした。戦闘バランスもちょうどよく寄り道要素も程良くあったので飽きずに楽しめました。昨今のフルプライスゲームを買うよりはセールでこちらの作品をやってみても良いと思います。DLCで追加シナリオもありますので本編で満足した方はオススメ出来ます。

This game is so sick. Imagine an RPG that actually has a good story, and the fighting mechanics are good. I can't even remember the last RPG that I felt invested in the story and didn't end up skipping cutscenes because the story had too many plot holes, fake character motivation etc.

Excellent music, characters are loveable, and unique skill building. I knew about 5 minutes in that this had the potential to be a good game, and Chained Echoes did not disappoint. SSS tier game, and I can't wait to replay it and look for all the hidden secrets and play at the hardest difficulty.

100% finished last night, 9/10 game. Very very good. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes JRPG-esque games. I am strongly looking forwards to a Chained Echoes 2 to resolve the hanging plot threads! For now though, going to go through and run through NG+!

很好玩
超载系统很有趣，在长轴战斗中有很大的随机性，所以战斗就不是单纯的走流程了；多方势力混战的剧情也挺有意思，鲁路修、守望者那段可太经典了；真王的设定很酷，让我想到了美食的俘虏里的美食界7王；最后没有把所有问题解决，还留下了一个非常大的矛盾，应该是会出下一部作品；翻译很接地气，对话的无效信息很少，信息密度很大。
天铠的战斗体验不是很好，尤其是真王难度的数值；步战的数值有点不太对劲，前期道中小怪个个都是猛男，摸几下就没血，点名表扬永恒花园右边守门的2头牛，真的nb，地震复读，2轮秒天铠；玩开头以为格伦是主角，玩到一半觉得圣女公主是主角，最后发现byd背刺王威廉好像才是主角，不过有一说一，威廉的究极技确实像主角的技能。

This was one of (hopefully) very few instances where the secondhand hype for a game ruined it before getting to enjoy it. Basically, because of online discussion about it i got to speedrun the "This is awesome and new!" nostalgia. I just started it and... uh this isnt at all what people made it out to be. This cant be the same game is it? Yes, it is, but letting everyone be a critic when most of them could barely handle a basic criticism aimed at themselves personally is not the way.
This is a game you should play. Im almost saying that just because I feel bad the developers made this and then the fanbase overhyped what could clearly be an enjoyable game.
People need to stop acting like they know everything and let people live for themselves. Ironic on a review sure, but im just being honest. Play it and write your own review.

Finalizado el juego y le doy de nota 9.5/10. Para mi el juego es buenísimo, voy por partes:

La historia es muy buena, es un viaje muy bonito con unos personajes increíble y memorables de los que siempre quieres conocer más.

El sistema de combate es muy top haciendo que cada combate sea táctico en sí sin necesidad de irte desgantándote los objetos y demás ya que recuperas toda la vida y la mana después de cada combate.

Gráficamente es precioso, con un estilo pixel art muy bonito, zonas muy bonitas y unos diseños en general muy top.

La idea de la nave y de las armaduras celestes, el clan, etc. lo que aportan a la exploración y como el juego te cambia a partir de que desbloqueas todo esto y le da un soplo de aire fresco a mitad del juego muy top.

Para mi, una gran sorpresa ¿Por qué no le pongo un 10? Porque no está traducido al español, entiendo que es un indie que ha hecho solo un chico pero estaría genial que ponga alguna vez una traducción española oficial.

I started Chained Echoes but nearly uninstalled it within the first hour or two. Luckily, I persevered, and I’m glad I stuck with it.

The Good:
∙ The characters are superb and fun to follow through their adventures
∙ The story is really great overall (but had some stretches here and there)
∙ I love the combat system overall
∙ The dialogue is mostly alright, and the world feels believable for the most part

The Not-So-Good:
∙ I’m not keen on the overdrive/overheat feature, and the crystal system is clunky to use—I had to fiddle with it way too often because weapons and armor drop constantly (though I don’t mind the drops themselves)
∙ Some textures are difficult to read—it’s hard to tell where to climb up/down, traverse, etc.
∙ Mixed feelings about the Sky Armors, but that’s just my taste; I’ve never been a fan of mechs

Final Verdict:
Overall, a really great game with some weaknesses (in my opinion). I managed to finish it despite not fully engaging with the crystal system and overdrive mechanics.
Definitely recommended! Especially on Steam Deck!

There is a magic that happens when someone loves an era of gaming so much that they want to commemorate it and pen their own love letter to the feelings they experienced back when they first played these games. Chained Echoes is one such love letter.

It doesn't matter what era of gamer you are, the games you played when you were young and free of responsibilities and burdens (or at least had far fewer of them to deal with) will always hold a special place in your heart.

The feeling I got from the first day I started playing Chained Echoes, to the feelings I'm experiencing now, having rolled credits and completed all achievements just an hour ago are essentially a tribute to what the creators of this game almost certainly intended: Capturing the nostalgia and feeling of that era without being a copycat of the games that inspired it.

It can be hard to create an homage without becoming derivative, but Chained Echoes stands on its own. It may have the styling of games from the 16-bit golden era of RPGs (mostly the Super NES era), but this story, these characters, and the mechanics of this game are modern and original. There is no sense of derivation or duplication of the biggest pillars of the genre (namely, Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger) other than the fact that Chained Echoes has 16-bit pixel graphics.

The mechanics of the game feel original. The story is original. The music is modern and orchestrated. The characters are deeper and the writing doesn't rely on any exposition or tropes. There is a gravitas to this epic tale; the stakes are higher, the characters more relatable and believable. It doesn't take itself too seriously, though; the hallmark of excellent writing in games is that you can still experience levity and see bits and pieces of joy even as the world is falling apart around you and the gods themselves are intent on destroying you.
