I loved the relaxing detective quality to this game. I regularly play Nancy Drew, and this was similar but plant themed, and easier. I played the demo and then got the game later on.
I think it is beautifully created. The gardens, decor, music, ambience was so enchanting and wonderful. What a great cozy game!
I finished the game in one night in 3 hours, then got 100% at 3.5hrs. I wish this game was longer.
It game is expensive for 3hours of game play. I waited for a sale before buying it.

Superb relaxing & therapeutic sort of detective/deduction game a little on the easier side. Enjoyed it immensely. A perfect B-Day gift ;) . The only complain I have is that it doesn't seem you can grow certain flowers more than once (their needed conditions seem to be used up?). I also experienced a clue bug where I couldn't choose the right clue for the deduction, it auto filled in another and refused to nullify it, but simply saving, going to menu and continuing solved it so no biggie. And for the ones curious, no the flowers aren't real species and no you won't learn anything about cultivating real flowers, other than to have the interest to figure them out.

Very chill game with a relaxing atmosphere. The puzzles were fun and challenging enough to keep my interest. I only with there was an easier way to reference clues within the book while trying to solve how to grow a plant. It was hard for me to go back and find a specific clue I needed because I would forget where I've seen it (if that makes sense?). Overall, very enjoyable game!

First of all, I thnk this game is a bit too pricey for only 3.5 hours of gameplay. That's about where my criticisms end. This is such a wonderful, beautiful game. I played the demo and was desperate for a chance to play the full game.

The story follows a young girl with a passion for botany in the 90s, who struggles to be taken seriously despite her knowledge and abilities on the matter. As you progress the game, you find out more about her and her attempts at becoming a professional in the field. I won't spoil anything, but I thought everything was very interesting and I loved the ending bit.

The gameplay loop is simple. You start in an area of the house, collecting hints towards helping the flowers bloom. You assign the hints to the specific flowers they're for. The hints are tracked in your book by location, so you can always go back and read them if you get lost. As you progress, you unlock more areas of the house. The puzzles were easy to understand and so were the hints.

I already said it, but this game is GORGEOUS, and the soundtrack is amazing. I often caught myself staring off at the environments. Some parts oddly reminded me of that one garden scene from the 1996 Harriet the Spy.

Cute and chilled game, though within an hour of playing I keep getting an error where I can't interact with items, can't pick up or read things. Looking online this is a common bug for this game? I have the newest update, playing on PC... so bit disappointing and really ruins gameplay - can't play as need to interact.

Just tried to resume my previous game and it sticks on the load screen. Shame. Never had to return a game, is there even a way to do so?

I ended up 100%ing this, which I almost never do, so that probably says something.

This is a really calm puzzle and exploration game where you figure out how to grow different plants using clues around the house and grounds. It does not hold your hand, but it also never felt frustrating to me. Most of the time it was just slowing down, and reading a bit.

The setting is honestly one of the best parts. The manor feels lived in, and I liked just wandering around and taking everything in, it is so pretty. It is quiet in a good way. No pressure or timers or something chasing you.

The puzzles were solid. Not super hard, but satisfying when they clicked. Each plant felt a little different, so it did not get repetitive.

Only small downside is that near the end I was not always sure if I had missed something or if I was just done. A couple of the last achievements are easy to overlook.

Overall I really enjoyed it. If you like slower, thoughtful games where you explore and figure things out on your own, this is definitely worth playing.

This game was absolutely lovely. This is first and foremost a puzzle game, but there is a charming story and subtle lore drops that give it a little more depth. I found the puzzles challenging and time consuming enough for me to have fun and stay interested without being too difficult that I felt constantly stuck and defeated. The atmosphere is incredibly charming and the music is also beautiful. This was an extremely cozy and peaceful experience for me, I'd highly recommend it.

It feels disrespectful to the develpers to say "get it on a discount", but I agree with the sentiment.
I feel like you may get between 3 and 4 hours of playtime with not really any replay value.

Puzzles, the majority of them focused around gathering clues to make these odd fantasy flowers bloom.

Stuff like: This flowers blooms on thunderstorms, what part of the thunderstorm makes it bloom? can you make that happen in the manor?

Lots of reading, there's a fair hint of story but everything is through letters or background details.
Map is quite large but you normally don't need to backtrack too much, unless you're trying for 100% achievements and forgot something.

Lovely game, really cosy and zero stress. I enjoyed exploring the manor and figuring out how to grow the various plants! It’s a little short at full price but if you can find it in a bundle it’s very worth it.

Schönes Spiel mit Puzzeln, die nicht zu schwer sind, aber trotzdem zum Denken anregen. Mich hat es jedes mal gefreut wenn ich es geschafft habe, eine der Pflanzen wachsen zu lassen. Ein bisschen kurz, aber wenn man das Spiel reduziert bekommt ist es das absolut wert.

This game has a great set of puzzles that vary in difficulty but all feel satisfying to solve. The interweaving of clues with different media types makes it fun to piece everything together for a solution.

The home itself is almost reminiscent of Gone home, empty, locked doors everywhere, and littered with notes giving a deeper story to the people that lived here. Though unlike gone home, this house is less eerie and more comforting. I do wish that the keys could be provided more creatively as a result of solving the puzzles rather than just the gatehouse delivery.

I also wish that there was more content, I would love to see an expansion or a sequel that explored a new area with more plants. Though this game never felt too short.

Damn... I did NOT expect myself to tear up at the end. Snuck up on me, truly.
I found myself in either of two states during the entire game; "What the ♥♥♥♥ am I supposed to do? I am so confused... HELP!" and "OH MY GODS OFCOURSE! This makes total sense."

LE JEU EST BEAUCOUP TROP CHER, ON EST A LA LIMITE DE L'ESCROQUERIE.
Regardez mon temps de jeu et regardez le temps de jeu des autres reviews, pour une fois, c'est assez significatif. Il m'a fallu 6 heures pour finir le jeu et une vingtaine de minutes en plus pour le platine. Il n'y a aucune rejouabilité.

6 heures pour 25 euros. A vous de juger, personnellement je trouve ça beaucoup trop cher. Attendez une réduction massive ou un bunble.

Le jeu maintenant:

On explore un jardin et un manoir anglais à la recherche d'indices pour nous permettre de trouver le moyen précis de faire pousser des plantes et des fleurs. Les indices ne s'appliquent pas directement à une plante mais sous la forme d'un méli mélo d'instructions. A nous de regrouper ces instructions sous chaque fleur et ainsi, trouver la façon de la faire pousser. Le système d'énigme est correcte et bien maitrisé mais assez classique dans le fond.

C'est très calme, paisible bref un vrai jeu court et cozy.
La difficulté des puzzles n'est ni trop dure ni trop facile, et le tout s'enchaine agréablement. Petit défaut tout de même concernant les indices qui, une fois trouvés, ne vont pas se mettre dans un répertoire ou carnet. Si vous avez oubliez, vous avez le droit à un backtracking, et ceci est vrai pour TOUS les indices (5 à 6 par plantes en moyenne). Capture d'écran est notre ami à tous ;)

Le jardin et le manoir sont vraiment très agréable à visiter, c'est pour moi le gros point fort du jeu. Les pièces et petits coins de verdure s'enchaînent avec harmonie, c'est beau et bien foutu.

Conclusion: un bon jeu mais beaucoup trop cher. Il est très plaisant mais ce n'est pas non plus un incontournable, donc à mon avis le prix ne se justifie pas du tout.

This is a very pretty game with nice music, fun puzzles and a cute story.
That said, it is fairly short, only took me four hours to 100%, so I definitely wouldn't pay full price for it.
But I got it in a bundle and had an enjoyable time playing it, so I would still recommend buying if it's on sale.

ONLY ON SALE!!

First and most important (for me) this game so so so so so smooth. Everything about it. The storyline, the graphics, the animations, the movement... everything. The game is gorgeous from start to finish and I really appreciate the MC being an older lady. It adds color.

But! The playtime is not really worth it for me, so unless some content gets added, 25€ for 3.5h - 4 h (with all missed achievements on the first playthrough) is way too much for me.
Huge plus is that my son had a great fun with it, thanks to the easy controls, so I don´t personally regret the price, but for one person, it´s overpriced. In all honesty, if it had like 1-2 chapters more, I would remove the "on sale" addition.

I'd recommend this on sale, it's expensive for a very short game but it is enjoyable. It's cosy and the puzzles are not too hard and satisfying to solve, the plants are cool even if I wish there was more.

SPOILERS WARNING
My only real gripe is that this game has a sub-plot of the female main character being repeatedly rejected from academia for being a woman. I am a woman in a male dominated field for context. While I like the inclusion of this story as a talking point around the time period the game is set in, I felt sad and deflated at the end the end when the book you'd worked on the entire game was again rejected. Now I understand that this end was the reality for many woman, and is probably realistic, however for a video game that's supposed to be relaxing and a bit of fun, I felt robbed of a satisfying ending and the catharsis I thought the story was leaning towards. That's just my opinion though.

Simple, cosy game. The puzzles are simple but perhaps a nice balance between tricky but not so tricky you need to look it up. The underlying storey is sweet without being pandering the audience or indulging in revisionist history. It's not a game that will change your world but I don't think it's trying to be. It's a cute few hrs of escapism in an English Garden a perfect antidote for a world that's often angry and scary right now.

Very cute and cozy, the puzzles aren´t super complicated but not too simple either. The perfect kind of game for when you just want to relax. I got it while it was on 85% sale, and I´d recommend waiting for a price like that because it´s wayyyyy too short for the full price imo. Botany Manor is set in the early 1890's, presumably in England. Arabella Greene, a middle aged spinster has spent a lifetime on botanical research, with her findings being consistently dismissed or co-opted by others. Now in her later years, Arabella decides to write her magnum opus, a detailed methodology for cultivating rare and exotic types of flora. Determined to publish her life's work, Arabella dives into her research, and begins growing flowers.

Botany Manor is a less than subtle allegory towards how many talented women are treated within STEM fields. As there are no spoken lines, the narrative is conveyed entirely through short letters and articles spread throughout the house. While there are some other characters, they never make personal appearances, only dropping off letters at Arabella's front door.

Arabella is the heiress to a large historical manor, which is nearly 300 years old, and filled with the history of Arabella's family. Botany Manor frequently alludes to Arabella's less than supportive family dynamic, which pressured her towards marriage over research for most of her life. Now in her later years, she has a good relationship with her sister Elizabeth, and begun to establish a small reputation among young scholars.

One thing Botany Manor does well is weaving in the narrative world building with the puzzles, as a letter from a friend may hold a clue towards growing a flower, or uncovering a hidden room. While I would've liked a bit more subtle world building beyond Arabella's lifetime of unfair treatment, it's the focal point of the story, and they conclude it well, so it's hard to criticize it much.

Botany Manor follows a very simple gameplay loop. Arabella has a list of plants, around 10 or 12 within her manuscript, each of which must be grown following a specific series of steps. The journal denotes where the seeds are located, as well as how many clues are in each area, which makes it a simple task to find a seed, gather clues, then figure out the growing process for each flower.

Nearly every flower requires being placed in a pot, watered, and then a third step which is typically where the puzzle elements come into play. For example, a plant may only be able to grow under certain light conditions, or when exposed to heat of a certain degree. Arabella must piece together what each plant needs to bloom, and then how to recreate those conditions around the manor.

For someone who lives alone, Arabella is oddly prudent about security, having seemingly locked every door in the house, which functionally means the game limits how far she can progress into the manor, until she's grown enough flowers. It works well, because it prevents the player from aggregating too many clues, potentially adding red herrings into the deductive process.

The gameplay works well, though I feel obligated to also call attention to the incredible art direction for this game, rich with color and vibrant light design.

Botany Manor is a game I'd recommend to most. It's not overly challenging, demands very little of your time, and is a very calming, beautifully designed game.

A great game that is very cute. It really scratched my itch for flower growing and almanac-filling. The mysteries are not difficult at all, rather, on the easier side. I do wish there was a little bit more (like 3-4 chapters more), but that's okay. My favourite plant to grow was the Springdance Shrub! Get it on sale if you can!

Short, cozy, pretty game. The puzzles weren't too hard, and I think any escape room veteran will have a breeze with this. Newer players may find this a comfortable start.

The story is a little sad, if only because women scientists in the 1800's weren't respected at all (man I want to punch a certain digital fictional person so bad right now.) But don't expect shakespear. It does a good enough job. The visuals are really pretty, lots of flowers as you'd expect. The flowers you grow are varied and interesting. I think the hardest it got was when two flower available at the same time were both found near the river. But otherwise the clues should be pretty obvious where they go. I would have liked to be able to see the clues from the book once I had found them, or even locked them in. While the location is at least nice to find them again, I'd have rather just liked to be able to read them directly.

Price might be a bit much for length, though I do like this game. Perhaps it'd be best to get it on sale.

This is a really wonderful game, from start to finish. I only wish it had at least twice the content, but I really can't complain, because it was such a lovely experience. My only hope then is to see a lot more from the developers in the future (perhaps even a sequel?).

The puzzles mostly hit that sweet spot of being neither too hard nor too easy. I really liked the way you can optionally gather hints into your journal, as that functions as a kind of very minimalistic hint system -- it certainly doesn't give away everything even if you use it.

My only slight complaint would be that there were only two or three times where I felt that a new game mechanic was introduced, which added something significant to how you progress in the puzzles ([spoiler]The places I recall are: 1. Very cute and smart. It's a really cosy game that still ask you to sharp your wits.
It's a nice journey to do and discover all of these forgotten plants and their ecology. From a biologist/entomologist perspective it's a love letter to Botany. I sincerely appreciated the game, its messages.

My main problem is how fast it is to complete. I didn't rush through it in any way, but I was able to 100% it in about 3 hours. I wish there was more to it.

Maybe I'm just coming off the back of grander, more expansive puzzle games, but I think I expected more from Botany Manor. It's got no sweeping, overarching mystery, no dozens of collectables, no perspective-wrapping meta-puzzle, or cheeky ARG-light which requires a careful reading of the store page in order to solve. Hell, I didn't even have to take notes.

And that's pretty okay. As long as you recognize the game is a breezy, beautiful couple-hours of neat fantasy plants and relatively simple "aha!" moments as whatever final piece of whatever you're looking for clicks, to me, that still makes a pretty great, pretty engaging game.

I have a few small complaints but won't bother to rattle them off, and will instead, focus on what I think the game did that makes it stand out from its peers.

It's set in a time and place (and person) that is often unexplored, and as frustrating as I found that, it was the good kind of frustrating; the kind that comes with engaging with a piece of art, that encourages one to think a little more about the world. It doesn't go crazy with it -- or with anything, really -- but it has something to say.

I really appreciate that at no point did they even attempt to make the plants realistic, despite the otherwise real-world setting. It was a decision that adds a lot both to the character's implicit motivation, and to the player's curiosity to see what's coming next. I could imagine this game starting with real plants and moving towards the fantastical as it went along...but I think it was a much better, more immediately engaging choice to skip straight to the more interesting bits.

Obviously the game is beautiful. There's a few game universes where I sometimes feel like, when I'm not looking for a challenge and just want to go somewhere familiar...well, for me personally, I boot up Chrono Trigger. But nonsensical as it sounds, this has the same kind of vibes: Just a place where it's fun to exist, where there's lots to see, even if there's nothing left to do. It's the vibes of a cozy game, without the gameplay.

I played Botany Manor coming off the back of Master Key, which was a very Tunic-like adventure, with lots of note-taking, navigation puzzles, and hundreds of collectibles, but I feel like you could stick any intense game in that slot, from sweaty competitive games to your favorite Souls-like...and Botany Manor would serve as a really pleasant, almost refreshing sort of easing-out.

It's soft, predictable, and lovely. Expect that and nothing more, and I'm sure you'll have a nice time.

Cute little puzzle game! Small-self contained experience. Only got stuck due to an unintuitive hint once, so well-designed puzzles/clues. Don't go into this thinking that it's an in-depth botany sim, and instead look for pretty models, good soundtrack, and a decent story.

This game is a delight. The puzzles are not too difficult and well sign-posted. The clues are carefully laid out (and the game tells you where to find them if you miss them). The game just takes you on a wonderful, relaxing journey with a beautiful score and sublime visuals. Definitely one of my favourite games. It's quite short - possibly 4-6 hours playtime or so - which honestly is perfect.

This game is too simple. There's not really much to solve: the essential formula for a puzzle is "here is a list of places and their climate details, here is a machine for manipulating climate, and here is a postcard that tells you exactly where this plant grows. Now... grow the plant."

Despite its simplicity, it manages to require "puzzle game logic" to work. Plants go from seed to fully bloomed instantly. Lily pads are strong enough to support the weight of a grown woman, so you can make a magical plant bridge for yourself should you need to. A door that is slightly blocked by a tree branch is impassible, and the only reason you would have any idea that you have to tackle this problem with a plant-based solution is that you are playing a plant-based puzzle game.

Fantastic game with great atmosphere and graphics. The puzzles felt on point in terms of difficulty - not overwhelmingly hard and not too easy either. The plants were really cute and well thought out and I love the fact that you can make as many as you want and place them throughout the manor.
Only downside was some performance issues but after some tinkering I was able to resolve them.

Overall, if you are a fan of planting and puzzles, I highly recommend it!

Good but disappointingly short.
With the exception of some achievements, I managed to complete "Forgotten Flora" with all clues found at around 3hrs and 10 minutes. This was along with verbally reading all the notes I found, and sitting in every seat possible (There's an achievement for sitting down for over a minute, I found out).

I was expecting to use the flowers I needed to grow multiple times but it seems that once you have used them for their expected purpose (Windmil/Gloom) or made them bloom (everything else), you can just leave them wherever you like and forget about them - I'm pretty sure there's more to Botany than just making flowers appear.

The game is pretty with a really colourful "The Witness" vibe and the sounds and music appropriate for whichever room you happen to be in, even outside with the wind and water noise.

While I am recommending this game: do not expect anything taxing, nor any long-standing puzzles you need to return to. It honestly feels like a demo - one of which this game has and I imagine is even shorter.

Short and super pretty game. The story has meaning and it was nice to see the mc story develop while blooming flowers and exploring the environment. It was cool that the player can just chill and listen to the background sounds, like birds and/or ponds. Super easy to 100% under 5 hours and in on playthrough. GET IT ON SALE. It's a creative little puzzle game with a peaceful atmosphere and beautiful soundtrack, but given it's short length (my play time is half of what it says, I left it on pause for a while), gameplay only going so far, and the story being charming but barely there, there's no way it's worth the full $25. I can give it a solid rec at half that.

Relaxing puzzle game wherein you have to cultivate plants. It has a bit of environmental story telling. It looks good and the story as far as it exists resonated with me given the resurgence of the attitude that women should not be working but take care of kids. Basically the protagonist is a women following her passion. That is cool. Everyone should be able to follow their passion. Sorry got side tracked.

The game is great. It looks good.
Only major negative is that some of the puzzles are a bit cryptic and there is no properr in game notebook. Okay and maybe some of the hotspots were hard to find for me.

If you want to relax while solving puzzles and cultivating plants, give the game a try.

I flew through this game, it is absolutely wonderful. The puzzles are just the right level of difficult... Nothing's handed to you, and you have to piece things together, but it's also not frustratingly difficult or obscure, like far too many puzzle games. The game is also utterly beautiful, I wish there was some sort of "sandbox" so you could come back and play around making and displaying different colours/hybrids of plants forevermore... I could happily do that for ages! Anyway, I loved it... A great one for cosy gamers :)
