As I said in the other tower defense game review, I'm reviewing 2 similar games back to back, the other game being named Nordhold.

So I much prefer this tower defense game than Nordhold, because this game give you more freedom, at least in some part of the game modes, so what is this tower defense game? It's a TD game that has :

1. Tile manipulation mechanics, there are several systems including ones specific to the game modes.

2. The game has modes, it has a pretty lengthy campaign with a standard scifi story that is also quite funny in some parts, it has quick plays and it has survival modes.

3. The game also has different path systems depending on the map types and game modes, for example in survival mode there is one map type that force you to build your map/path "from scratch"

From those alone this TD game has far more creativity challenge and replay value than the other game, also in this game there are more type of the towers not found in many tower defense games like :

A. Mine/trap "towers" where you put them beneath the enemies.

B. Towers with "global" firing zone abilities, there are several towers of this type and they works very differently from each others...

Those 2 tower types also give you so much freedom to tackle the game challenges more than many other tower defense games.

The game also has leaderboards for the survival modes where you can see replays for the top 50 players, the replay system is not perfect as it's not exactly a replay but rather a "procedural generated replay" based on that player input from his game but it has made my eyes opened with strategies I've never considered before.

Audio visually the game has that standard scifi themed arts, I like many of the soundtracks in this game as well, game has supports for 21:9 aspect ratio even from the beginning of the early access IIRC.

And it's funny how this game is still under EA label, because it feel completed already and it has so many features compared to many other tower defense games. I genuinely think this game is the most under rated tower defense game of all time considering what it offered.

Leider sind sämtliche Steam-Errungenschaften verbugt. Auf Erfolgsjagd zu gehen macht bei Axon TD kein Sinn, da die Erfolge willkürlich freigeschaltet werden.

Ein Beispiel: Der Erfolg "Alles gesehen" wurde bei mir irgendwann in der Kampagne freigeschaltet und nicht nach 66 Wellen auf einer Überlebenskarte. So zieht sich das Freischalten durch alle Erfolge, Man weiß nicht was und wann man freischaltet.
So macht das keinen Spaß, deshalb keine Kaufempfehlung für alle, die es lieben Erfolge zu Jagen.

What I love about this game is that it's Defense Grid 3: similar but more complex.
The campaign doesn't strike me as very original (I've played only a quarter of it), but it does its job.
Survival is where the game truly shines: There's so many ways to combine defenses; and the random element actually adds to the fun. The choices may be overwhelming at first, but you can try again and again - and whoops, there goes the evening.
The game isn't super easy (even if you've played tower defense games before) - but the easy mode will give you enough time to learn how to effectively place towers - and when you discover the synergies that will make you survive what seemed impossible at first, it's a blast.

Eines der besten TD - Spiele die ich bisher gespielt habe. Noch gibt es ein paar Übersetzungsfehler. Aber abgesehen davon, sein Geld in jedem Fall wert!
